Morning Devotional...

The Lord appeared again in Shiloh.        1 Samuel 3:21

In this world where things are constantly changing, sometimes it's good to have an "again" like this in one's life.

Jonah needed it--he had fled from God's presence (or so he thought!) but God wasn't finished with him. That is why the word of the Lord came to him again (Jonah 3:1).

In our verse, Samuel had the experience of a midnight call from God, the trauma of a family crisis, and the beginning of his ministry.

In such times of change we need, on a regular basis, to enjoy and expect the renewed presence of God in our lives.

Wait on Him and He will meet your need--again.

In our sickness and our health,
in our want or in our wealth,
If we look to God in prayer,
He is present everywhere.

And the peace of God which transcends all our powers of thought, will be a garrison to guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Phil 4:7-Weymouth)

Good morning Everyone.

May God bless you all and keep you safe as the world waits for a decision to be made re the machine which is keeping Yasser Arafat.

Heavenly Father, thank You for our "life support" our Lord Jesus Christ....

                                 Love and Prayers.

MATTHEW 11:5 NIV
The blind receive sight, the lame walk,
those who have leprosy are cured,
the deaf hear,
the dead are raised,
And the good news is preached to the poor.

The clear sign of the Messiah's presence was a time of true blessedness
for all who know and follow him.
Just think how glorious it will be and all the blessings we will
share when He comes again!

PRAYER
Lord God Almighty,
i praise You for the time of
blessing that accompanied Jesus' first coming to earth.
I rejoice looking forward to His return and
to the glorious blessings that await me and my brothers and sisters
in Christ when our Saviour returns.
In anticipation of that Day,
i thank You in Jesus name. Amen.

Ruth Ann Bice

Good morning, I'm about to head out to a restaurant in the countryside outside of Nashville to have ham and biscuits with my friends. Then, off to work it is.

After I speak with my son today, I think I'm taking a flight straight from Nashville to London. Potential of being gone for about 8-9 days.

Y'all have a great day.

Marilyn

Soni Thank you for the devotiional.

Ria Such a lovely prayer and verse, thank you.

Good Morning Jenny and JudyB.

Ursula. My landlord owns 1.8 acreas of land here. This property has my little single wide trailer that is not is good condition , a double wide across the driveway from me, a garage where he keeps his work truck  and  a field where his two horses live.

He is subdividing the property and tearing down  both mobile homes and building 8 rental houses on this property. In the spring he will begin the building and putting in a road  where the other mobile is  so that one is going first.

The original plan was that mine would go first and would have already been gone. But the contractor failed to submit the plans to the planning commision in time to start this year.I knew when I moved here in July of 2003 that I would have only a short time to live here and then have to move.

I have been praying for another place where I could have both of my dogs for over a year, the blue place is just perfect for me as all of the other Mobile parks only allow 1 dog under 20 lbs. I have 2 over 50 lbs.

Anyway I guesss that fills in everyone who is new and didn't know the situation. Just keep on praying for my new home. I should find out today if  a lender can be found that will supply the $$$$ for the house.

Good morning!  Good devotional, Soni--thank you.

Ria, I love all the good quotes and poems you find for us!  :)

Papa John, I saw the Parthenon when I was in Nashville, however, only the outside.  It would be nice to go inside as well.  As usual, your choice of Scripture for today is very fitting.

Marilyn, may God's will be done concerning the blue house.  It does sound like a perfect place for you and your canines.  Over 50#??  My goodness!!

Beth and I are attending a Ladies meeting at the church my sister attends today.  I hope it is pretty short, I am feeling very pressured.

Ruth Ann, have a wonderful trip!!  I'm so happy for you getting to go visit your son!  That is just wonderful.  We will miss you, but that will remind us to pray for you while you are away.

Hi, JudyB!!  How are you?

Welcome, Lionel, to CP!!!

I must get going!  See you later!

Hi Nick!

It's great to see you.  I'm so sorry you were ill but glad that you're feeling better now.

What part of Wales were you in?  Did you get some photos?

Hi everyone and a special welcome to CP Lionel.

It is another just perfect day here in Georgia.  It was down to 46 degrees but see it is not up to 54 degrees.  There is not a cloud in the sky.  The yard is still very green and it was manicured by the lawn folks on Monday so looks very nice and well kept (not my doing other than to write the check but I get to enjoy it from my office window!)

I don't have much planned today as all this week just haven't felt very peppy and have found it hard to accomplish very much.  I will watch the football games today starting with the Georgia and Kentucky game at 12:30.  Pat went grocery shopping yesterday and it just about did her in as the fibromyalgia kicked in big time and she was in a lot of discomfort the rest of the day.  So think she will be staying pretty quiet today. We do have a full day at church tomorrow, including a congregational meeting and then a dinner to follow.  We will be calling a new pastor.

Marilyn, I certainly hope your offer is accepted and the loan is approved.  That seems to be a pretty large place but guess each of the dogs can have his/her own room.  :)  Pat and I lived in a single-wide mobile home when our children were little and we enjoyed it except we just outgrew it.  This was in the late 60s and it was a new mobile home.  We moved it from Illinois to Kentucky but when we left there we sold it.  We learned it was it eventually blown away or destroyed in a tornado.  Guess tornados are not a big item out in Northern California.  It sounds like an ideal place to live and you would already know a couple of your neighbors.  Blue is also our favorite color and we have had blue carpeting in two homes, including our current one.  It is a very calming color.

Sonja, thanks for the devotional thoughs and espeically for the little poem you used as it speaks to me today:
Quote

in our want or in our wealth,
If we look to God in prayer,
He is present everywhere.

Janet, when are you leaving for your trip?  It sounds like it is right away since you are packing and you said Darrell was already packed up.  Hope you enjoy your church meeting today and that Beth enjoys the outing.

Ruth Ann, going that far you should stay 8-9 days.  Sure hope it all works out well for you.

Sarah, surely and exciting time for you as you look for the right college to attend.  Hope you find just what you are looking for as you step into this next phase of your life shortly.

Ria, thanks for the scripture and prayer.  Hope you also have a nice weekend.

Jane, guess the meeting wasn't met to be.  Interesting that after the person went to the trouble to have it set up that they didn't even call to indicate they weren't going to make it.  However, I sense relief out the outcome on your part.

Papa John, the Parthenon is certainly an impressive structure.  I hadn't realized that it was replicated in Nashville.

Nick, that sounds like quite a trip and you will have your work cut out working up the 2000 photos.

A special hi to Pat, Ursula, JudyB and anyone else posting that I have not mentioned above.  Hope everyone has a very nice weekend.

I have had my breakfast, gotten dressed and loaded my recycling stuff into the trunk of my car, Now I am going to the recycle yard and to the the bank to deposit my final check from Gloria for thelast three days I worked.

Please pray for Gilbert he is angry at me over some trivial thing and my grandkids were supposed to come and spend last night here with me. They didn't get to come. He told me not to have anyone pray for him, Ha ha he has to be joking to tell me that.

No Pat.  We will not forget...How can we ..we are as ever in the midst of war.

                           God's Tomorrow

The night is very black and grim,
- Our hearts are sick with sorrow, -
But, on the rim of the curtain dim,
A pulsing beam, a tiny gleam,
Whispers of God's To-morrow.

Beyond the night there shines a light,
- Our eyes are dim with sorrow, -
But Faith still clings, and Hope still
springs,
And Love still sings of happier things,
For Life is flighting strong new wings
In search of God's To-morrow.

I have been out to the bank up to the house to walk peek in the windows and walk around it to pray over it. the carpet is indoor/outdoor in a beige colour, it looks as if the range is electric from what I could see.

I have also walked both dogs.  Bebe and I  went  to the field behind the Holiday inn and walked up Concorde and around Boeing avenue then around on Boeing circle and back home. Happy and I went the oposite direction except we went on out of irport Business park on to Airport road and up the hill then down the hill through the turf gopher holes rough terrain. I have had my excersise for today.

Ruth Ann - Did you say you were taking a 'direct flight' from Nashville to London?  I didn't know they flew out direct to overseas...  If so, who are you flying with?  I bought tickets last week for us to come home for Christmas this year.  We've been gone for over 2 1/2 years already, and are wanting to surprise our families for Christmas (they don't know we're coming).  So we'll be flying into Nashville on the 12th at about 10:30pm or so.  But our flights go from Minsk, to Warsaw, to Chicago, then on to Nashville.  We'll be able to spend 4 weeks home in the states and return back here on the 8th.  Now, I just have to figure out how to get from Nashville down to Milan without anyone knowing about it.  I'll probably end up renting a car or something.  We are really looking forward to it.

Janet - We spent 3 weeks in Thailand a couple of years ago, and had a wonderful time.  We spent 3 weeks up in Chiang Mai, and 1 in Bangkok.  From Chiang Mai, we went on a ton of excursions, up to the Golden Triangle for a long tail boat ride between Myanmar (Burma) and Laos, elephant ride, temple tours, etc...  All were fantastic.  In Bangkok, we went to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (King's Palace), and Canal Tour (highly recommended).  Only thing I wish we would have done was to see the Karen People.  They are the tribe with the long necks.  We did see the Mao, and another tribe, but now I wish we'd have gone to the Karen people.  Oh well, have to go back someday.

Right now it is 11pm at night, and I'm listening to the Vols Football game across the internet.  Since I can't watch it on TV, I have to settle for it this way.  Had a Migraine this afternoon, felt it coming on, took my pills, and went to lay down for a couple of hours.  Feeling it still a bit now, but much better.  We did put up our Christmas tree this past week, I'll have to post a pic of it sometime.  I know, we're crazy, but ever since we got married (12 years ago), we've always put up our tree on Halloween.  This year, because I was preaching both Sunday morning and night, we put it up on Monday and put the lights on it, then on Wednesday, we decorated it.
A watched clock never boils.

chris

Hi its chris again in England. Just got in - its now 9.40 pm - wow what a lot of fireworks !!!! Could hardly see where i was going on the way home it was so foggy! Our local council actually banned the organised bonfire this year - they said because of polution.
Pushkin the cat is snuggly locked in the lounge and he has NO intention of going out tonight.
Mums got the news on at the moment about the terrible train crash here in England.
Love to you all
chris

Ruth Ann Bice

Chris, how NICE to see you again. Hope your new job is going well.

Skief, let me know what your schedule is - I'm only 5 minutes away from the airport if it's during the work week, and about 15-20 minutes away if on the weekend. I'd love to meet y'all!

I won't be flying with anyone. By "straight" from Nashville, I meant I'll not be going to Atlanta to fly out from there - the cost differential is so small that the gasoline to drive to Atlanta will make the flight more expensive from there - go figure!

Yes, Larry, I spoke with Danny and we agreed that I'll stay from either the 21st or the 22nd until the 30th. And, I'll be asking for wheelchair assistance along the way to keep the pain in my legs and feet down.

I'm beginning to get excited about the possibilities for the trip.

At work today, I had multiple crashes, so shut down and decided to come home to relax. Then, will try to get all sorted out on Monday when I get to work. Afraid I'll lose everything on my hard drive if I try to work on it any more until the IT people diagnose the problems.

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann

I'm certainly glad Marilyn finally admitted she's trying to get in a jam! (the blackberries between the place she's looking at an our place).

That Parthenon sounds interesting, to say the  least.  The word is an interesting one.  The word "parthenon" means something to do with virginity, chasteness, etc.  It would be interesting to know how they got from that to the building in Athens by that name.

uiba

Hello!  I've been out and about in the rain all day (but it was fairly warm rain), trying to get pictures of old barns in the fog.  I crossed over the US border to go into Washington state (they have lots of old barns), and the border crossing guard started laughing when I told him what I was doing.  Oh well.  I didn't get a single barn in the fog, it was just raining all day.

Jesus Is the Sweetest Name I Know
(Click to hear music)

Thy Name is as ointment poured forth.
Song of Solomon 1:3

Words & Music: Lela B. Long

There have been names that I have loved to hear,
But never has there been a name so dear
To this heart of mine, as the Name divine,
The precious, precious Name of Jesus.

Refrain
Jesus is the sweetest name I know,
And He's just the same as His lovely Name,
And that's the reason why I love Him so;
Oh, Jesus is the sweetest name I know.

There is no name in earth or heav'n above,
That we should give such honor and such love
As the blessed Name, let us all acclaim,
That wondrous, glorious Name of Jesus.

Refrain

And some day I shall see Him face to face
To thank and praise Him for His wondrous grace,
Which He gave to me, when He made me free,
The blessed Son of God called Jesus.

Beth and I had a great time at the ladies' meeting today.  Beth is feeling so much better, her whole face is radiant!  This is the nearest she has been to being pain free in years, and her spirit is excited.  She is reading the Word, watching Christian TV and growing closer to the Lord.  I'm so happy for her!  She really got a lot out of the meeting, and I did, as well.

When I got home, a new-found cousin had called me from California.  She is working on the Dixon family history, we share a great-great-grandfather, and when I called her back, we talked for three hours!! ::)  I can't recall ever spending that long on the phone before!  We really "hit it off" and laughed together sharing family stories.  We could sure tell we are from the same family tree---lots of things in common.  And her dad and mine seem to have been a lot alike.  I am gathering information and photos to send to her, and she will share what she has with me.  She has traced our roots back to the 1700s so far.  WOW.  She must be patient---and persistent!

Skief, thanks so much for the information on what you enjoyed in Thailand--that will be helpful.  We are going up to Chang Rei and Chang Mei, too.  I know there is a long tail boat ride in there somewhere, have to read the itinerary again.  Darrel was reading that they use a fork and a spoon, but you NEVER put the fork into your mouth!  You only use it to push bits of food onto the spoon.  In their culture, putting a fork into your mouth is considered as uncouth as licking a knife or putting one in your mouth here.  ;D

Larry, we leave on Nov. 22.  But Darrel always packs well ahead.  I tend to wait until the last minute, and then usually forget something I need.  So I'm trying to follow his example this time. :-[

Thanks to those who looked at my newest photos.  It really helps when you comment, otherwise we sometimes wonder if anyone looks.

See you tomorrow!  Good night!
