JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Not a lot to report from this "neck of the woods".  Pat - I love reading the history of the old hymns.

Thanks too for the links pertaining to the terrible house fire.  The church where the funerals were held, is the same church where my parent's attended.  Did anyone notice, from the picture, that the mother who perished in the fire...her 10 siblings, sang at the memorial service.  I heard from a mutual friend, that the memorial service, was such a tribute to the Lord.  The mourners really heard the gospel!

Glad you enjoyed the hymn stories, Ed and Judy.

I'll see what I can do to find more.  Larry and I have a few of them.

Yes, Judy, that was quite a funeral.  It was really nice to see Monika's 10 brothers singing.

Marilyn:  Thanks, I am checking out Photo Story.  I have Paint Shop Pro but this looks like it can do more.  Could not download it for some reason.  I wanted to comment on your feeling better/different and recovering quicker after your healing service.  There are studies that do show people going into surgery with prayers offered - sometimes by the surgeon and nurses - tend to heal quicker.  I don't have the statistics anymore but that is what a study in Oklahoma showed years ago.

Nards:  Sorry that you have lost the health insurance now.  Having had that happen twice in my lifetime, and having two babies without that insurance - you can get through it!  I am praying for you and your sweet family.

Papa John

Well, at nine this morning we caught the bus in front of our resort.  We spent most of the day going to and being exposed to the history and points of interest in Savannah, Georgia.  It was an interesting day but kind of tiring for old people like us.  When we got back to Hilton Head I lay down for a nap and slept for an hour and a half.

Tomorrow is our last day here.  Friday morning we leave and drive back home to Nashville.

Etta Sue, Bradenton is a good place to spend the winter.  We have been going down there for a month, mid-March to mid-April for about twelve years.

Janet, I hope you enjoy your visit to Bangkok.  We visited there some years ago and really did enjoy it, everything except the traffic.  Be careful.  My brother, Steve, just got back from Bangkok.  He travels a lot and Thailand is one of his favorite places to visit.

Hope you all have a nice rest this evening.

Matt 6:28-33
28   "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.
29   Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
30   If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31   So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'
32   For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33   But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Hey, OK Tom!

Here's one for you to sing in the shower!

He Lives
(Click to hear music)

Words & Music: Alfred H. Ackley, 1887-

I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today;
I know that He is living, whatever men may say;
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him, He's always near.

Refrain
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.

In all the world around me I see His loving care,
And though my heart grows weary, I never will despair;
I know that He is leading thru all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing will come at last.

Refrain

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the King!
The Hope of all who seek Him, the Help of all who find,
None other is so loving so good and king.

Refrain

HYMN HISTORY:

~He Lives

       â€œWhy should I worship a dead Jew?”

This challenging question was posed by a sincere young Jewish student who had been attending evangelistic meetings conducted by the author and composer of this hymn, Alfred H. Ackley.

Mr. Ackley’s answer to this searching question, ultimately prompted the writing of this popular gospel hymn, He Lives.

The composer answered his inquirer: He lives! I tell you, He is not dead, but lives here and now! Jesus Christ is more alive today than ever before. I can prove it by my own experience, as well as the testimony of countless thousands.

Mr. Ackley’s forthright, emphatic answer, together with his subsequent successful effort to win the man for Christ, flowered forth into song and crystallized into a convincing sermon in hymn on He Lives!

So he sat down at the piano and voiced that conclusion in song. He says, The thought of His ever-living presence brought the music promptly and easily.

Sister Pat and Sister Janet,

Thanks for the warm welcome and the beautiful hymn. YES!, my Saviour does LIVE! That was a particularly nice piano arrangement.

By the way, I can only sing in the shower when my wife isn't home.   :D  Just kidding - she just has to be on the other side of the house.

Colossians 3:4  When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Not only does "He Live" - He is our life.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Hey it serves me right for not being around for awhile as I just got kicked out.

Having coffee with a few friends this morning it was mentioned;  that mom of the family that perished in the fire came from Woodbridge, Ontario.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Hi everyone.  I think this is the latest I have ever posted here in CP but wanted to read through the messages.  I had a very busy day trying to learn some new software that I needed to use for a couple of the webpages I maintain.  Think I finally solved the problems but it took me all afternoon.

We went to church tonight and we had a traditional Thanksgiving meal for our Wednesday Night dinner and it was superb.  Our cook has just finished culinary school and is a very good cook.

It is too late to make individual comments.  So will just say goodnight.

Pat

It's strange how these links work.

This is what I'm seeing...four ads on Dining Room furniture.  And the first post under the ads is Etta Sue's comments about furniture so maybe you're the only one seeing these ones, Chris.

Are you saying that the ads are a result of what we talk about here?  Weird.

Here's the link again, it was somehow "messed up" before:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx

I haven't tried it, but I doubt it's better than PSP.  Paint Shop Pro is a really powerful, good program, in many ways quite comparable to Photoshop.  I doubt that Microsoft would just give away something that good.

I hope Paint Shop Pro doesn't go expensive now that JASC (the company that produces PSP) was bought up by Corel Corp.  I'm planning to try Photo Story tomorrow.

QuoteHaving coffee with a few friends this morning it was mentioned;  that mom of the family that perished in the fire came from Woodbridge, Ontario.
Mom, after we got off the phone, I started to look through my yearbooks.  Monica was two years behind me and was smiling with both her eyes and her mouth in her picture.

Time for bed.  I have fulfilled my Civic Duty this past three days (the 4th time in 20 years I may also add) as a prospective Juror, and now must get some rest as my desk has piled up a little bit.

Pat

Oh, my Sue...  She looked like such a happy young lady in all of the photos I've seen of her.  What a catastrophe!

Ursula, I'm going to look at that link as well and see about downloading it.  I agree with you that not much could be a lot better than PSP--especially PSP9.  But all of these little programs are useful.  Thanks Marilyn for sharing it with us.

I'll be back in a few minutes....

Oh, yes, I meant to say too, Ursula, yes the ads are "content related".  Our site is constantly being "spidered" by google to give us the ads that are most beneficial to the majority of posters.

Keep clicking on them!  LOL
