JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Failure and Success:
No Past At All!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
--2 Corinthians 5:17

In our churches we often sing, "Arise, my soul, shake off thy guilty fears." But nothing happens and we keep our fears. Why do we claim on one hand that our sins are gone and on the other act just as though they are not gone?

Brethren, we have been declared "Not Guilty!" by the highest court in all the universe. Still there are honest Christians, earnestly seeking the face of God, who cannot seem to break loose and find real freedom. The grave clothes trip them up every time they try to move on a little faster. Satan uses their past sins to terrify them.

Now, on the basis of grace as taught in the Word of God, when God forgives a man, He trusts him as though he had never sinned. God did not have mental reservations about any of us when we became His children by faith. When God forgives a man, He doesn't think, 'I will have to watch this fellow because he has a bad record.' No, He starts with him again as though he had just been created and as if there had been no past at all! That is the basis of our Christian assurance--and God wants us to be happy in it.
I Talk Back to the Devil, pp. 6-7

"Thank You, Father, for that glorious freedom of forgiveness. Thank
You for Your marvelous grace. No past at all! What a wonderful, incomprehensible truth! I humbly and joyfully worship You this morning. Amen."

Good Morning: Pat How are Judy and Norm doing?

Where is Judy B?

Not much is new here since I last posted.

Larry I pray that you will soon get to feeling much better. These past few months have been so hard on  you, you  need lots of rest and recuperation time.

Etta Sue sorry to hear off the  damage done to your friends place. She is so blessed that she and her husband are safe. They say never to  get on the phone in a lightening storm.

Today I am going to clean house for my every other week people, then over to Ruth's to take her to have her hair done. After I get home and walk the dogs, I will do my laundry and  possibly do a little cleaning in my own house. Jan and I are going to a concert of barbershop quartets tomorrow night and I have to get everything done that I usually do on Saturday, early so I won't be to worn out to go.

Good morning!

About Kitty's home...yes, they are very lucky that they didn't have a fire.  And did I tell you that Bob, her husband, and his brother own an insurance business?  And this is the second time in less than a month that their area was struck with lightening.  They lost one telephone and one garage door opener the last time.  Something must not be grounded correct!

Ivalou called this morning and asked me to go with her this afternoon to her granddaughter's salon.  Ivalou has gift certificates and needs to get them used.  And of course, we will stop somewhere on the way back to eat!   ;)

I didn't sleep too good last night...kept tossing and turning...I think I was too hot!

Greetings from Monument Colorado.  Just checking in for my daily devotional and dose of fellowship!  May the Lord bless all of you today in His own special way.

Today is my mother in laws funeral.  It should prove to be a blessed event.  All of her children are here and she will be given military honors.

Walking by faith means you see God's hand even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is a beautiful day here in Georgia.  I just now opened up the house as it isn't suppose to get over 75 degrees today.

I overslept a little bit this morning and was about 10 minutes late at the Senior Center.  Fortunately the other man who has a key had come early to drop off his vehicle for some service and had already unlocked the Senior Center so it all worked out well.  I think I feel more tired today than I have all week.  I don't have anything else on my calendar that I have to do today so plan on just resting and taking it easy.  My friend loaned me a movie and we will watch it later today.

I had to miss the day singing with the folks at our church day care center yesterday due to my doctor's appointment.

Ohenry, my condolences on the loss of your mother-in-law but I am happy to see you will use this occasion as a celebration of her life.

Etta Sue, guess you will get all beautiful after your visit to the salon.  I am assuming the salon is a beauty shop.  Enjoy your day.

Marilyn, it has been years since I went to a barbershop quartet but I really enjoyed it.  It is one of the things that I think I would have enjoyed doing.

Pat, thanks for the fine devotional today.  It is interesting that God forgives us but we cannot forgive ourselves or fully trust in what the Bible says.

Hi Jim, good to see you positng.

Samantha

Good morning everyone!

Seems like ages since I've had time to post.  With two school age kids where does the time go?

So good to see you back Larry.   Glad you and your wife had a good trip.

Ohenry, so sorry to hear about your mother - in - law, but interesting about the military honors.  What branch did she serve in?

Oh, I've started naming names, and I know I will forget someone.  Morning Marilyn, Etta Sue, Pat, & Jim.

Terry is still not "well" but I think we are getting closer to giving his sickness a name.

I am so pleased with my new camera, and am looking forward to getting out and taking pictures.  Hopefully will be posting some soon (without the kids in the shot!)

Got to check on the kids, see if they are getting their school work done.

Later,
Samantha :)

Just what I'm doing, Marilyn. :)  I just checked in to say hello too.
Have a good time on your trip.

We have NO autumn colors!  I think "signs of Autumn" here would be green and more green.   I did see a beautiful burgandy colored tree, but didn't have my camera.  Fall colors are few and far between this year.
I guess I could post an ocean picture and give it some nice warm autumn hues. :)

Yes, we have 2-3 of his books, i.e., THE PURSUIT OF GOD, THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE HOLY, and perhaps 1-2 others. Need to reread those again. God bless you, Pat!

Good Morning.

Not many are here yet today. I am up early every day  work or day off is the same. The dogs get me up to go out side and to eat. They are so used to eating at 6AM .

I don't have a whole lot to do today. I must shower and wash my hair this morning as Jan and I are going to the  Barbershop quartet thing this evening. So I am warming the house a little before I jump in the shower. Then I have a little vacuuming to do.

It is a good thing that I have a few extra boxes of Regenicare here as someone from my Tai Chi class has called and needs more right now doesn't want to wait to order it.  I just got a shipment of 3 more boxes yesterday.

The grand kids have gone to Santa Rosa for a swim meet and will be back on Monday. Forest has to have a tooth removed on Tuesday because the dentist drilled to deep and now there is an abscess  under the tooth. Forest is only 6.  :'(

Good Saturday to all,

Larry:  I am happy to read that you are taking an easy Saturday.

Carl:  My prayers for you and your family today.

I am reading a book on C.S. Lewis - he wrote so beautifully.  "Narnia" is just one.
We have a book for our Spirituality meetings on Wed. but a few of us don't care for the writer - still we are getting a good message from her book as well.  It just takes more time to find what some people are trying to say in their message.

Marilyn:  I hope that Forest is alright with the dentist - what a shame that his appointment went so wrong.  Hugs to him.

Here it is Saturday morning.  Seems like it was just Monday.....or Tuesday.  Time sure does fly!

Yes, Ivalou and I went to her granddaughter's beauty salon (she works there, doesn't own it) yesterday for Ivalou to use her gift certificates.  I can't believe how expensive things are at that place.  Ivalou got products and what she got for $85, she could hold in one hand!  I know I won't ever go there to get a haircut...I think a haircut is $47!  (ivalou cuts my hair and I am pleased with it)

Then afterward we stopped at a little place for lunch.  Similar to a tea room but very good food.  Then WalMart.  I bought some yarn to make me a red afghan for my living room.

Our SIL, Barb, called yesterday to see if we wanted to play cards last night and said she would let us know whose house.  So we all decided to go for Pizza and then go play cards.  Just the women this time.  Kaye Don is in Michigan and Sam was watching one of their granddaughters.  It was fun playing cards and then home to watch some TV.

Now today I have to mow the lawn.  I know all of you think all I do is run around and mow the lawn but if you had a lawn like this you would be mowing all the time also....

Seriously, the sod farmer has the sod field nearest to me all mowed and ready to cut sod.  It is beautiful though.  My property ends at the little rock pile to the right of my Redbud tree.

Just a lovely poem:

You Ask Me Why

You ask me why I see no charm nor glory
In this world's pleasures, or its wealth and fame?
And why I love that Galilean story
Of One who died upon a cross of shame?
It is because my soul hath known its sinning,
The grief and darkness of that cry undone,
And at that cross has found a new beginning,
Life through the death of that dear dying One.

You ask me why I find no rest or gladness
In paths where selfish ease would while my hours?
And why I toil where hearts in bitter sadness
Lie crushed beneath sin's fierce o'erwhelming powers?
It is because I know life's thread is slender,
But one short hour, one little stretch of road,
Then yearns my heart with love divinely tender,
To seek the lost and bring them home to God.

You ask me why, what gifts I have, what graces,
Are poured an offering at His holy feet,
And why I brave the cold contemptuous faces
Of those who love this world and find it sweet;
It is because I see a distant morning
When stand God's sons around His jasper throne;
I see bright crowns those holy brows adorning,
And I, too, long to hear my Lord's "Well done."

Nice devotional, thanks Pat.

It is still very lovely here on the island.  Cooler, with lots of fall colors spicing up the scenery.  I had to completely re-do my computer system and finally removed a virus that caused no end of trouble.  Will not open any more attached or FWD e-mails from now on.  Don't know where it came from, but surely did cause me three days of terrible work and stress!!  Can't afford the luxury of calling someone to come in and fix the darn problem....have to work it out myself >:(Still must reload a very long update for HP Camera's that is necessary to make things work for my digital camera.  They went and changed the old software and it won't work without the long update.  Not available on disk in Canada and sure do not want to send to the States and pay for a copy and shipping charges.  There ota be a law!!!Canadian branch didn't even know about the download or change......   :ticked:

Went to another eye specialist yest. and have to go back for laser treatment for the glaucoma....then another visit in April for check on Cataracts.  Having the laser treatment done before the kids go on holiday, so hope there is not going to be a problem.  I have a bleeding and healing problem with most stuff....TMI, sorry.  Still a little  :ticked: about my computer!

Sorry that you are not feeling well, Larry.  Hope everyone stays well and safe.  We are having our Cdn. Thanksgiving this weekend, so hope that accidents are few and rare.  Great influx of people to the island is creating many traffic problems and it is dangerous out there.....

One of Amanda's rabbits had to be put to sleep last weekend.  I sat with her while we waited for the shot to work and it is sad seeing any life end.  Getting much too old for this now at grand old age of 74 yrs.  Can hardly stand to turn on the TV or read the paper now.  Where did our world go???

Time to end this long post.  Hope you have a great trip Marilyn.  Glad you are doing well with your business.  Here is a little smile:

The Angry Atheist

The story is told of the Atheist who accosted a preacher. "Do you believe in eternal life?" The preacher has no time to reply. "Well its a load of rubbish!" shouted the Atheist. "I believe in science, evolution, survival of the fittest, and when we die, that's it! No eternal life, no great judgement, and no God!" The Atheist continues his assault against the preacher repetitiously and tirelessly. "Eternal life! Eternal life! Ha! "Its all pie in the sky when you die." When I die that's it, the end, no eternal life, no nothing. He continues, until he reaches his climax, "I will be buried six feet under when I die and that's it! Nothing! Caput! When I die I am utterly convinced that that will be the end of me!" "Well thank God for that" replies the preacher!

Ever feel that way with some folks....? ;)

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Carol

the weather forecast is way off as it is into the low 80's F. here today.  Tomorrow, it should be into the 50's.  We have about 20 minutes before going to the Sat. night service & I have had the oddest time today with little moments of not feeling up to par.

Homecoming for the university game right now so we try to stay away from the traffic.  It is a beautiful day for the game and so forth.

Etta Sue:  We live on a golf course so we don't mow that large area either - isn't it lovely to look at though, I mean your huge yard.

Liz:  Sorry about your computer woes.  It just ruins some days.  I have been getting about 4 emails per day with sad & false stories, needing money so it takes time to forward that stuff to spoof sites.  Hope they shut the evil people down.  We love our fall too.  The colors here are golden with lots of evergreens and vibrant red shrubs & some orange trees.

Carol and Liz I don't get any of that kind of mail. My AVG virus scanner scans it before, plus i have the virus scanner  that comes with my cable connection. Then all my outgoing email gets scanned before it goes out.

My yahoo address gets all those letters asking for money from places like Nigeria and also adult type mail that I just delete If I don't know the person or place it goes in the trash or gets reported as spam. I don't use the Yahoo address very much so there is a lot of garbage in there.

Hi everyone.  I have been sitting here in my easychair doing various computer projects and keeping an eye on the Georgia/Tennessee football game.  Georgia leads 24-14 and it is almost the end of the 1st half.  The Georgia fans have been nervous about this game.

I am happy to be able to report that I have felt good all day today and more like my old self.  I don't know if it is just that I have finally rested up from my trip or that the new medication is helping that much.  Either way I am thankful to feel like doing something for the first time this week.

This has been an absolutely perfect day here in Georgia with mild temperature and low humidity.  It is going to be rather cool tonight.

Liz, glad to read you got your computer fixed.  Like Marilyn, I also use the AVG Anti-virus program and it scans all incoming items.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday tomorrow.

Janet

Hello from my little corner of Kansas!  Our Ladies Conference was wonderful, and I'm very glad to be back home.  Lots of emails to sort and delete--way too many--and now I have read the past three days worth of posts here on CP.

Glad everyone is doing well.  My eyes feel like they have sand in them, very tired from the sun glare coming home from Wichita.  So I think I need to shut down and think about getting to bed soon.  I have had four nights of short sleeping hours and am feeling a bit of it.

Have a wonderful Sunday!
