Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

This is for you Mieka!

Sonifo

I need to get my dinner cooked.  Have a good evening folks.

It is raining here and is beautiful.  I just love all the fall colors, but I don't care for the cold weather.

Jerry L. Sowers

Mieka ~ I am happy and I am well as you can see. I have Etta Sue to keep me happy. I will be this way from now on. I will be sad that you are in China, but I will wait on you to come home. I will be happy when you come home to us.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I have had a very busy day and just now have had my first opportunity to read the remainder of yesterday's NEM postings and the many postings here today.  What a treat and it was also a joy to see two new folks being welcomed.  Today was my last day as treasurer of our SeniorNet Computer Learning Center.  I have had the job for 3 years and it was time to get off the board of directors.  After the meeting I met with the new treasurer for two hours and turned over all of the records, materials and files and showed him how to use the Quickbooks program that we use for our accounting.  I think it was a bit daunting for him as he has never done any accounting.  However, he will do well as the program is easy to use.  I now have about 3 feet of bookshelf free in my office where I had kept all of this material and a big vacant space in my storage closet where I had other supplies and backup records.

Following that I went on to the mall to the Office Max store as they had some items that after the rebates end up costing you just the sales tax.  However, the only item they still had were blank CDR's and that was really what I needed so wasn't too unhappy.  Found a couple of other bargains that I couldn't pass up.  So needless to say I am exhausted this evening (although you couldn't tell it from the length of my posting so far  :o).

Great to read the encouraging news regarding Papa John and had so hoped there would be some updated news available.

See you all tomorrow.

Marilyn

Wow So many posts today. After I got home form work I finally put up the curtain rods and hemmed up the curtains and hung them. Now I am hungray and will fix some Mexican Food for myself for dinner.

So I will talk to y-all later.

Going back a few posts, all that talk about home delivery of milk, ice, etc. REALLY makes me nostalgic.  My dad was a dairy delivery man in San Francisco for many, many years.  Also, we had an ice box on the back (inside) porch, which is also where I had my ham radio setup, so I watched the ice being brought in many, many times as a teenager.
I kinda miss the old milk delivery.  My dad took it from the truck, up many flights of stairs, and put it just where the people wanted it.  Butter, eggs, cheese, etc. too.

Jeanne Lee

Milk in glass bottles, delivered before dawn, with flat round cardboard lids that let the milk expand when it froze (as it did most winter mornings) so there was a column of frozen cream a couple of inches high on top of the bottle.

Hi every one.  Really a lot of posts today.  It seems there was gallons of milk delivered along with butter eggs and so forth.  lol

Larry I can understand your relief to be able to turn a job over to someone else.  Three years should be long enough for most volunteer jobs.

Today represents fifty years of marriage to my wife, Mary.  It certainly does not seem that long, of course my 75 years of age has seemed to pass in half the time.

We went out for dinner tonight, but did not have Mexican, although we do get good tex mex food here in East Texas.  We have an Out Back close by and enjoyed some shrimp and steak Austrailian style.

I will get off and see if I have added the smilies to the top of the message or have made a failure.
Have a good evening

Mieka, look at the hug Sonja gave you, and then look again, and that one is from me! ;D (Because I don't know where she got that one. :-\)

I will be away from home tomorrow, doing one of my favorite things......painting!  So I won't be in here in the morning to greet you.  Try to miss me a little, will you? ;)

Joel Osteen just came on TBN and I love to listen to him!

Carol

I just finished sweeping fall leaves off the front patio and it is now windy and leaves are falling like crazy.  Our niece, her husband and son should arrive very soon from Fort Worth.  They are going to Laramie, Wyoming to look at a school for their son.  We hope that he will move to Laramie for school next year as it will be another terrific relative near to us.

Larry:  It is good that you were able to drop that job after three years.  So many times there is no one to take the next job so it is easy to get stuck into many years of volunteering in one spot.  Thanks - I sent you a note on the quilt pattern.

Welcome to the new ones!

Till the Storm Passes By
(Click to hear music)

Words and Music by Mosie Lister

Mark 4:39
"And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea,
Peace be still.  And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm."

In the dark of the midnight have I oft hid my face,
While the storm howl above me, and there's no hiding place.
'Mid the crash of the thunder, Precious Lord, hear my cry,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Many times Satan whispered, "There is no need to try,
For there's no end of sorrow, there's no hope by and by"
But I know Thou art with me, and tomorrow I'll rise
Where the storms never darken the skies.

Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

When the long night has ended and the storms come no more,
Let me stand in Thy presence on the bright peaceful shore;
In that land where the tempest, never comes, Lord, may I
Dwell with Thee when the storm passes by.

Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Have you all been looking at our Autumn Colours Challenge?  The photos in there are wonderful.

And we also have our 1st Bi-Weekly Photo Challenge of October too.  The subject of that challenge is "Harvest".

If you have any trouble finding either of these, just holler and we'll point you to them.

Now, I'm going down to walk a couple of km on my treadmill.

Did you ever communicate with W6VSD out of San Mateo.  He's Vivian's father Walter Carlson.  Walt and his wife Florence were the founders of the Baptist Church in San Mateo.

Hi Pat......

Yep.  I snuck a peek earlier this evening. We've had our good friends over for dinner.  Our pastor last night, and tonight Ed and Joyce Grable. Ed, a retired pastor and missionary, and Joyce, a retired missionary (40-years) from South America.  Pat knows about Joyce.  This amazing lady lived with the indians in the jungle and speaks their language.

I'm going back in tonight Pat.  You caught my interest.  I'll try to send motorcycle photos tomorrow.

Pat

OK Lee...  Sounds great!  That's a nice topic in there.

Sounds like you had wonderful company!

Hey ya'll
sorry i haven't stopped in for a little while been kinda sick (and so has my computer) it got a weird virus but i think we finally got rid of it. basketball started at the 1st of this month now i am battling nine weeks grades ??? i don't like my grades right now and my classes are HARD and a lot of the time the teachers don't help us. so we help each other as much as possible. which can be bad can be good who knows! we have next thursday and friday off! ;D thank goodness i don't think i could go much longer with out a break from it all. seeing some people that don't like me for things of my past is never fun!
please be in prayer for 4 of the girls in our school right now they are kinda going goth on us and dressing in all black. most of us fear them because we don't know what they are up too!
well i need to try and catch up and get some rest sometime tonight haven't been sleeping very well here lately don't know for sure why.
Sarah

Nice Card Sonja.

Well I am about to call it a night and try to get some sleep tonight. Still can't figure out what had me up and down all night. I didn't drink too much water but I did take Vitamin C in a large dose before going to bed.

Good Night

Hi Sarah!  It's so nice to see your post.  I'm sorry about your school work.  It's good though that you all work together to help each other.  I'm not so sure about these girls who are dressing in black though.  :o

What a lovely card, Sonja!  I really like that.

Good Night, Marilyn!  Have a good sleep.

Lee - I haven't had my license now for a number of years.  When I moved from Oregon to California in 1963 I sent in my license in order to get my new call sign - like you're supposed to (in those days).  It took several months, but they finally sent me a form, check marked as though I had to retake my exam and start all over again.  I wrote to FCC about it, but it again took several months, then they sent me the same form, marked the same way.  By this time, it was 1965, and I went to seminary in Philadelphia - no time to answer them or retake the exam.  So I haven't had my license since.  I suppose they made errors or something, but I've never really persued it.
I probably had contact with him earlier than 1959.

By the way - Mieka - it looked to me like Pat was doing the tap dance.
