JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

The genealogy of Jesus Christ,... Tamar,... Rahab,... Ruth,... her that had been the wife of Uriah,... Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is the Christ. Matthew 1:1-16

These five women from the genealogy of the Lord Jesus remind us of the progression of life in Christ.

Tamar speaks of the unregenerate state, which has a desire for fruit but is ignorant of God's righteousness.

Rahab speaks of conversion through faith; she believed that God would deliver her.

Ruth speaks of an obedient life, reaping the fruits of God's grace.

The unnamed Bathsheba speaks of the deeds of the flesh, which need to be mortified.

Mary speaks of our maturity in the things of God.

Are we growing? --Tom Steere

TRUST AND OBEY[/u]
(Click to hear music)

When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.

(Refrain)

But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.

(Refrain)

Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we'll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.

(Refrain)

Thank you Pat for that devotional....

It shows how God can use anyone.   Those 5 women were all different and yet because of their faithfulness and love for God, they were listed in the genealogy of Christ.

All God wants is for us to be "fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ"

Hope you have a wonderful day.

Love Ruthie ;)
The Lord is my light and my salvation Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Ruthie..........

To your last comment in yesterday's posting.....You betcha.

The lady you witnessed to......Of course, only God knows whether anyone is saved or not.  Many people may have the right answers, but they miss it by 18", right?  I'm certain your church has an excellent follow-up program for all EE folks who profess their faith.  To the best of my knowledge, pastor Kennedy and or his church at Coral Ridge is/are the author of EE.

Amen to your above post.

Pat.........

I love Ruths "Obedience".  Our Lord tells us in many ways to obey Him (His word).  How right you are.  If we are fully (complete, whole, total) devoted followers of Christ, the fruit of our labors will be in evidence.  If we truly love Him, we will obey Him.

Thanks for your own witness by giving of yourself in taking the time to post each morning devotional.

Hello everyone.  I am about to head out to work.  I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

The five women in the in devotion are the subject of a series of books by Francine Rivers.  They are "fiction" but very historically based and Biblically based as well.

The story of Bathsheba really opened my eyes.  We tend to view her as an awful, godforsaken woman, when in reality, her children were the only ones of David's that sought God.  Food for thought.  Doesn't glorify her sin, or David's, but it helps me to better understand God's redemptive grace and mercy.

Go  God.

Check in later, ya'll!!

Cami ~ Yes, I truly love finding out What on Earth Am I Here For?  We had our small group meeting last evening at one of our pastor's homes.  There were 12 of us.  Pastor Mark said that in our church alone there were around 800 people participating in small group meetings and reading 'The 40 Days of Purpose.'  That includes junior high and high school kids.  We are all on day 4 today.

Nancy ~ No, I don't know who composed the Down Memory Lane poem.  There was no author's name with the email.  Glad you enjoyed it as I enjoyed reading 'Kissed and Tucked In'.  How sad that Rusty had to wait until his last day to be kissed and tucked in.

Nard ~ So glad to see you dropping in.  If you guys were up here we would go back to the woods for an old-fashioned weiner roast!!!!  And yes, we can still have outdoor fires in the country!

Papa John ~ How happy it made me to see your post.  Tears of joy!  Welcome home!  How is your back pain now?  Sorry to mention that but that seemed to be your pain before all this other fell into your plate.  When I heard about your cancer, I was praying that the cancer was the cause of your back pain.

Mieka ~ Love your thought of Papa John's home being so big that it is not ready for Papa John.  I will never think about our homes in heaven without thinking of some being so big that they are still under-construction.

Sarah ~ It makes my heart smile to see you so cheery and positive.  You sound so upbeat.  Also seems you are focusing on others instead of yourself.  That is good.  God is good.

Lee ~ While reading your post, I was sure your were going to say that Flory went to Cat Heaven.  I am so happy that God healed Flory so you may enjoy her and her enjoy you.

Kathy ~ If you read what I posted above to Cami, you will find that church wide we are studying 'The 40 Days of Purpose.'  Our small groups.. 12 people in ours...we start of with prayer and then have a 20 minute video to watch.  Rick Warren is speaking.  Then we have discussion questions.  Also we are to read one chapter a day....day 4 today.  Also we are to memorize a verse each week...Eph. 2:10  For we are God's workmanship, created by Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.  Then we ended in prayer and enjoyed fellowship together.  The host/hostess had drinks and snacks.  The rest of us will help with snacks for the next 5 meetings.  I met 8 new people last evening.  People I had seen in church but hadn't had one-on-one conversations with at church.  Pastor Mark said that over 4200 churchs all over the world congregated and watch the simulcast together last Saturday night.  Awesome!

As you can tell, Jerry and I enjoyed our evening last evening fellowshipping with other believers of Christ.  Today, Ivalou and I are going out to eat.  She is leaving tomorrow to spend time with one of her daughters for a week.  I will miss her.

Hi everyone.  It is a clear but cool morning here in Georgia but looks like it will be a beautiful day.  Had to get the sweater out again this morning after a couple of days where it wasn't needed.

Had a fun time at Calvin Cove yesterday.  One of the little ladies said as I was picking up the song sheets after we sang that she wished we would do that for 2 hours.  We usually sing for 30-35 minutes and that is really long enough.

Pat spend about 5 hours with our daughter at the emergency room yesterday.  They waited about 2 hours just to see the doctor and then I guess the rest of the time was waiting for test results.  She has some infection and got medicine to take for it but was in a lot of pain.  While she wasn't feeling very good this morning she got up and went to school as didn't want to miss two days of classes.  Hopefully she will feel better as the day progresses.

After coffe this morning I went up to Kaiser to got a blood test done and then got my flu shot.  The blood test has to be done fasting so no breakfast for me this morning or at least not until later.

Janet, sorry to read of your heartache.  Just remember some plant the seed and others till the field but it is God who causes the growth.  Continue to pray but put your worry with God.

Jenny

Just popping in to thank Marilyn and Ria and Kathy for their love and prayers.

I've had a quick scan of the posts but will catch up when I feel "In the Pink"....GOD IS GOOD!

Pat

Hi Jenny!

I just finished praying for you and sent you a little cheer and came here and saw that you had posted!  How lovely!

That old flu is so horrible.

I'm glad to see you on here.

Good morning from rainy Oregon.  I'm here with my cup of coffee, and have just read our devotional.  When we read of the women you mentioned, I've often thought that if man had been in charge of putting everything in the Bible, we'd have taken some of the more shady characters out.  God is not ashamed of our pasts.  He saw each woman as completed because He knew the end.   He left everything in so that mankind could find themselves and see redemption is available for all who believe.  What a wonderful God, our Father!

I'll be gone till Friday evening, so will let you know how things went in Portland.   love, nita

Pat

Ria, I'm sorry about your test results.  I had the beginning of osteoporosis a few years ago and the doctor put me on evista which is a bone producer and my osteoporosis has been stopped in its tracks so to speak.  I still have signs of it but nothing has gotten any worse for which I thank the Lord!  Take lots of calcium.

I'm so happy to know that Papa John is back home.  Let's all continue to pray for our dear brother in the Lord.

Larry, hope you got the email I sent.  I would sort of out of the loop over the weekend and now I'm not sure if I answered people's emails or not!  ???

I had such a lovely little visit with Mieka on Yahoo last night.  Mieka, if you are looking in here, we all love you so much and miss your cheery posts!  Now get in here and post and post and post!  THIS IS MUM SPEAKING!!!

Kathy, waiting to see photos from you!  If you have any difficulty, please feel free to send them to me.

Jenny, hopefully, you'll feel "in the pink" very, very soon.  Not nice that you've been so sick.

Larry, I feel like that lady at Calvin Cove. I love to sing and 2 hours would be so nice to do!

Thanks Marilyn.  I'm feeling better today.  I just find Thanksgiving such a difficult time since I lost Jack.  But it ended up quite nice after all.  I emailed my eldest son, Ian (who is CPs webhoster) and he came down with the little baby and Wendy came too.  Then I got the idea the maybe JudyB's mother-in-law might be in town and not up north so I called her and she was so she came over too and had a nice meal.  If I got a photo of her at the table, I'll post it, Judy.  I'm so sorry that you are having such a lot of sickness in the house, Judy.  Not nice at all.

Etta Sue, I'm so happy that you are having such a great time of fellowship and learning at your "40 Days of Purpose".  I love hearing about it.
I'm in the PSP Holiday Class but I haven't started it yet.

Karma, don't work too hard today!  I so enjoy your posts when you are able to pop in.  Give that Nards a big hug for us!

Sue, it's so encouraging to read when people find the little devotional a blessing that I put in.  Thanks so much for letting me know that you found it so.  I pray about each one and it's so nice too to that when Iain puts something in from his heart that many times, they just go together so nicely.

We love you Iain and are praying for you!

I guess you're going to be a very busy lady for a few months, Paulette with that wedding coming up.  Lots to do to plan a wedding.

Ruthie, if you peek in from work, we love you too!  I'm so glad that you are enjoying CP as much as you are.

Hi Lee!  I've got your photos and will attempt to work on them later.

Well, my coffee is about done so I'll get some other chores done around the house and pop in later when I have a few minutes.

You are all so special to me.

Oh, Nita!  We'll miss you.  We'll be remembering your daughter in prayer too as you journey up there for the surgery.

You should all go to the HARVEST Challenge and see what Nita did to Charlie's photo for me!!!  It's priceless and oh, so special.

Well I got through the night, Was in bed at about 2:00am.  Kassie and Elby are nibbling on toast, and regaining their strength.  Melaura and I are the ones with our tummies churning.  Melaura has had enough of being sick.  It has been a year since she has been well and really bouncing.  It is showing in her hair, skin tone and colour.

Oh folks please pray for a friend of mine.  She is a Christian and has been married 15 years.  She walked out on her hubby on Friday.  I am broken up about this, and so is he.  He is not born again and is classifying all Christians in the same category as my friend, unforgiving and bitter.    He is going to a lawyer on Friday and filling for a divorce.

I have to go to North Bay today for French and Art.  I have the Art lesson ready, Anjela teaches French.  Melaura has Choir tonight, provided she is well enough.

Well I have to go for now
Love to all
Judy

When Jack used to preach in many different places during our marriage, he very often asked that I sing.

This is one of the hymns he loved to hear me sing.

So let's all sing it together...

Not what these hands have done
(Click to hear music)

Not what these hands have done
Can save this guilty soul;
Not what this toiling flesh has borne
Can make my spirit whole.

Chorus:
Thy work alone, my Saviour,
Can ease this weight of sin;
Thy blood alone, O Lamb of God,
Can give me peace within.

Not what I feel or do
Can give me peace with God;
Nor all my prayers, or sighs, or tears
Can bear my awful load.

Thy love to me, O God,
Not mine, O Lord, to Thee,
Can rid me of this dark unrest,
And set my spirit free.

No other work save Thine,
No meaner blood will do,
No strength, save that which is Divine,
Can bear me safely through.

I praise the God of grace,
I trust His love and might;
He calls me His, I call Him mine,
My God, My joy, my light.

I received this in the email this morning from JudyB who asked me to figure out how to post it here with the picture that goes with it.

Night Prayer
One night, before sleep enfolded me,
footsteps walked the hall of my mind.
At the door of consciousness,
a messenger of the Divine beckoned me
to follow her through misty corridors,
dark and long,
to a place where blackness blinded me.
"Pray!" she uttered and was gone.

I kindled my slim taper of faith
and held it to cold, vast night
that scorned and mocked my feeble flame
and tried to snuff it's wavering light.
But others, too, had been summoned,
and they raised soft flames of their own.
We whispered praise and murmured pleas,
'til darkness fled the light we'd shone.

Somewhere a threat of war fell silent;
somewhere a childless couple conceived;
somewhere a starving boy was fed'
somewhere  a widow's grief was eased;
somewhere a quarrel became an embrace;
somewhere a cancer was no longer there;
somewhere a candle of faith was lit
because of the light in this place of prayer.

Lorri L. Smith

In Happy moments, praise God.
Difficult moments, seek God.
Quiet moments, worship God.
Painful moments, trust God.
Every moment, thank God.

Cool here today in Western North Carolina, but it's warming up and the sky is a gorgeous blue.  Makes my picture taking finger itchy  :)

Just curious... how many of us can make it through a day without doing something we instantly realize was not profitable for the cause of Christ.  I find myself to be a pretty miserable witness, most of the time.  I hope everybody else is doing a better job than I am, because if not, it's no wonder the world thinks of us as hypocrites.

Etta - you got it exactly right with the idea of a wiener roast.  Just don't forget the marshmallows!
I survived open heart surgery.... :)

Ria.......

Sorry to hear of your medical problem.  Our old bods just can't stay up with our minds.  I guess we're much like a beautiful flower.  We sprout, and blossum in the sunlight days of our life, and then as night starts to cast it's shadow we slowly start to wither.  First our limbs began to weaken, then our stem grows weak, and we ever so slowly start to bend toward the soil, then stillness.  Ah, but then life begins anew, right? We now can look forward to a new life.  All is in the Lord's plan for His children.  Awesome Ria.  Every one of us in this forum has started, and are, at various stages of the withering process.  We are blessed to have "Hope", Christan hope.  Sooooooo, sounds like Pat gave you some good medical advice.  Pat left out: "Been there, done that." ;)   Gee Pat, were you recommending fertilizer for Ria? ;D ;D ;D

Gotta run for now.  Have to get dressed to sit in on an oral board to interview a Sergeant candidate for the local Sheriff's Department..
