Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

The voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto Me from the ground.  And now art thou cursed from the earth.
Genesis 4:10-11

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ?
1 Corinthians 10:16

This passage in Genesis records the first mention of blood in the Scriptures.

How interesting that it flowed from a righteous victim and that it had a voice and cried out--for vengeance and a curse fell upon Cain.

When we turn to the New Testament we see a remarkably similar scene. On Calvary's cross precious blood flowed from the righteous Man of sorrows.

As it flowed, it cried out too--for mercy and blessing fell upon us (see Heb. 12:24).
--S. McEachern

GLORY TO THEE
(Click to hear music)

Words:  Edward C. Quine

Glory to Thee; Thou Son of God most High,
All praise to Thee!
Glory to Thee, enthroned above the sky,
Who died for me;
High on Thy throne, Thine ear, Lord Jesus, bend
As grateful hearts now to Thyself ascend.

Deep were Thy sorrows, Lord, when heaven frowned--
Gethsemane!
Bloodlike Thy sweat, Lord, falling to the ground
So heavily;
Dark was the night, but heaven was darker still,
O Christ my God! --is this the Father's will?

Thorns wreathed Thy brow when hanging on the tree,]
Man's cruelty!
Why lavish love like this, O Lord, on me?
Thou lovest me!
Wouyld that my soul could understand its length,
Its breath, depth, height, and everlasting strength!

Thy precious blood was freely shed for me
On Calvary
To save me from a lost eternity;
Glory to Thee!
Nor death, nor hell, nor things below--above
Can sever me from Thy eternal love.

Like shoreless seas, Thy love can know no bound;
Thou lovest me!
Deep, vast, immense, unfathomed, Lord--profound,
Lord, I love Thee!
And when above, my crown is at Thy feet,
I'll praise Thee still for Calvary's mercy seat.

Hi Everyone, I have been unable to visit CP very often over the last few months and missed the devotionals.  I hope everyone has been well!  and those who were ill and those who had concerns for others, I hope the situation has turned for the better.

I have one bad situation to report: I lost my 1000's of photos  :'( I had stored on a backup hard drive.  I guess backup should mean a duplicate is held elsewhere.  I had no such luxury.  To top it, my camera has had to go back to Kodak for repairs so I am waiting for it to be returned.

In December I am off to Cyprus for a few days on business followed up by a trip to our house in Spain. It will be great to get away from cold an wet England.  This summer was more like a South African winter in the Cape, wet and rainy!

I miss the ministry I suppose in one way, but I do love my new career selling overseas property.  Over the last five months I have been rebuilding the corporate image of the company, changed its focus and emphasis and built up a good structure from which to work.  The company director is thrilled and she has become quite supportive in providing the right tools for this exercise.  She is not a Christian but has allowed me to build Christian ethics into our practices.

Carol and I are off to Church now: it is really great being fed by others!  ;D  What has become so clear to me though is that it would be easy to sit back and be fed spiritually by another person rather than develop a personal relationship with God by prayer, reading of scripture, fasting and reflection.  It is also easy to leave the work of the ministry to those we think are better suited than us and neglect our own God given ministry.  Despite the fact that I work such long hours 6 days a week, there is room to find opportunities to reflect on Gods will.  I hope we can all look to being proactive in the work God has given us.

Bless you all

Etta Sue

Good morning.  I had a short night.  I couldn't turn my head off to go to sleep and then, later, the cats decided it was playtime and then, later, Inky decided she needed my attention with her purring and touching my face with her paw.  I think that when I finally got in that deep sleep mode, the alarm went off.  But I am ready to shut this pc down and head out the door for church.

I do notice the sun is shining bright across the horizon.  Sunshine always makes people feel better.

Have a great God's Day, ya'll!!!

Hi, friends,

It's very chilly here in Nashville. And, because of numerous computer crashes Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, in order to meet a deadline, I'll have to go in to work today. Will tune the radio to a good station that carries a live church worship every Sunday, so will be able to listen in while I work.

Brrrr - I hope it's warm at work, but am taking my coat just in case. In our outlying areas, it was in the 30's - something that's almost unheard of for October in the south!

Y'all have a good day.

Ruth Ann

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Just a quick note this morning as we await the arrival of my cousin, his wife and their son.  We will head either to Knoxville or to the Asheville area today.  Pat and I are going with them so they get to select the routing.  I expect we will seek out the old family cemetary today as it is suppose to be raining tomorrow.  Pat and I are looking forward to the overnight trip.

It is good to see several posting that we haven't heard from for awhile.  Gareth, sure sorry to hear that you lost your photos.  I try to keep a duplicate copy of everything and on important things like my music library (that I have spent so many hours working on) and the photos I have takne or scanned I also occasionally burn off CDs.  I actually put my music library backup cd's in the bank safe deposit box.

Shawnee, sure glad you are feeling better.  It sounds like you are staying pretty busy.

Ruth Ann, please don't overdo today.  Sorry you are having to work today.

Etta Sue, we don't let our cat stay in the house at night and either put him in the garage or out on the screened in porch, depending on the temperature.  It was cool the last couple of nights so he got to stay in the garage, which he seems to really like as think he feels more secure.

Jane, sounds like the power outage at Walmart probably saved you a few dollars!!

Pat, a fine devotional today.  Hope you will be able to attend the concert next week.

Marilyn, sure hope you are feeling better today.

Well, guess I had better sign off.

Carol

The sun is shining on this Sunday morning.  We attended service last night and there were few people.  Our main pastor is moving - to follow his wife who is already working as a teacher in Seattle - she left the minute their daughter went to college.  Many in church are not happy campers about this - the younger pastor is getting better and better in his sermons though and he is a joy to listen to.  The problem is that it takes much over a year to go through the process of another pastor and meanwhile attendance usually drops.

Pat:  Thanks for the note on posting.  I will attempt.  I hope that you can get to the concert next week.

Jane:  When we lived in Eugene, OR - the rental house was all electric and very cheap to heat.  Seattle used to have very inexpensive electricity but so many people moved to the area that it is much too much now.

We voted yesterday - mail-in ballots.  What an agonizing time this year but feel good about studying the issues and people.

A cousin & husband will be here in the next day or so - on their way to sunny Arizona.  Looking forward to the visit.

Gareth:  We had the same loss of pictures and it just grieved me to lose all the family pictures - but learned a lesson.  Now, we backup on an empty CD and give copies to the children.

We had a letter from cousin's son & family - they are missionaries in Uzbeckistan.  They have worked with gravely disabled and abandoned children and started an orpahange - education and health ed. for these kids - they do a remarkable job.  Even find wheelchairs - always needing more money to fund these projects.  Guess their family of six is returning to the states next year for a family visit & I was surprised as they usually don't  come every two years.  The airfare is tremedous as you can imagine.  It is always interesting to read their letters and realize how very little the poor and physically challenged children have in their lives over there.

Carol

Hi everybody!  We'll be leaving around noon today for southern Oregon on the coast.  We'll be there until Wednesday.  Hopefully, we'll be able to visit with our youngest son & his wife while we're there, as they're coming down from Olympia, Washington to see us and her folks in Brookings, Or. So - see y'll later.

Good Evening all.

Just calling in this evening to say hello.

It sure is cold and dark...I know how you feel Ruth Ann.  Wrap up warm like me  ;)

                   I did it, I did it, I did it  Pat.  ;D ;D ;D

Have a safe journey Al.  See you when you get back  ::)

Carol.  I do my shopping on -line. {{{Hugs}}}

Jane.  Hello. Luv U.

Marilyn.  Thanks for those prayers.  :-*

God bless Everyone.

Hey there!  I am enjoying a cozy day at home, today.  The rains came in the night!  Much, much rain  :o  Following some very strong winds.   But ... today it is just cold and a bit moist.  I am "going to church" on the TV today.   ;)

JENNY!  I saw!  I saw!    ;D   Sorry it is so cold and dark for you ... stay bundled up by the fire and pretend it's summer.   :P

Al, enjoy your time in Brookings.  I know you will.  ;)

LARRY~ I learned someone hit a power pole in the south part of our city.  That put the lights out for most of the area for about an hour and a half.  The man at Wal-Mart had told me the power was out as far as Coquille, but I don't think that was the case.  Anyway ..... taaa dum .... I went back to Wal-Mart later in the evening!  I only spent $2.76 though.   :P

Hi Marilyn, and Pat, and Carol, and Etta Sue, and Ruth Ann, and Gareth ... Y'all have a truly blessed day (or evening, as the case may be).  I'll be back, although I may not be posting.

Failure and Success: Our Dowry of Everlastingness

As for man, his days are like grass; as a flower of the field, so he
flourishes. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its
place remembers it no more. But the mercy of the Lord is from
everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His
righteousness to children's children.
--Psalm 103:15-17

We who follow Christ are men and women of eternity. We must put no
confidence in the passing scenes of the disappearing world. We must
resist every attempt of Satan to palm off upon us the values that
belong to mortality. Nothing less than forever is long enough for us.
We view with amused sadness the frenetic scramble of the world to
gain a brief moment in the sun. 'The book of the month,' for
instance, has a strange sound to one who has dwelt with God and
taken his values from the Ancient of Days. 'The man of the year'
cannot impress those men and women who are making their plans for
that long eternity when days and years have passed away and time is
no more.

The church must claim again her ancient dowry of everlastingness.
She must begin again to deal with ages and millenniums rather than
with days and years. She must not count numbers but test
foundations. She must work for permanence rather than for appearance.
Her children must seek those enduring things that have been touched
with immortality. The shallow brook of popular religion chatters on
its nervous way and thinks the ocean too quiet and dull because it
lies deep in its mighty bed and is unaffected by the latest shower.
The Next Chapter After the Last, 9.

"Oh Lord, remind me constantly of this eternal perspective. Surely
the temptation to seek the fleeting 'success' of the world (and the
church!) would fade if I kept this always before me. Amen."

Thanks Pat...ha ha...the ones I wanted to post were too big...
Ah well practice makes perfect.  I would need years of that to get to your standard Pat, but it is nice to participate a little bit, sometimes., makes me feel truly part of the C.P. family.

Jane.  I just had a tiny stroll to the corner.  It is freezing cold here.  I will bundle myself off to bed soon.  ;) Glad you didn't spend too much in Wal Mart. It's an ill wind that blows no-body any good.

10.40 p.m. here, nearly my bedtime.  Just having a warm drink etc.,

Goodnight to you all,
God bless.
Love,
Jenny.

Nite nite Pat.  Sleep tight..well when you do get to bed.

                                   Love to Geordie   :-*

Janet

Goodness, here it is after 5:00 and still on page one!  But it's all right, Sundays are for worshipping, etc. first and foremost.

I got up early this morning, couldn't sleep.  I let Darrel sleep until 8:45, then woke him as we needed to be at church by 9:30.

Beth got her advance ballot in the mail, so I will be taking that in for her, probably--or mailing it, or whatever.  To me, the choice this time is like choosing between light and darkness; but everyone needs to vote his/her own conscience.  I do hate the nastiness of the campainging that seems to grow worse with each election.  I blame the media for a lot of it, also the attacks that come from everywhere.  (Verbal attacks, I mean.)

We had a pastor from Garden City filling in today, and it was good.  His sermon carried on the same thoughts we studied in Sunday School, about the need to be good citizens.  It came up three times about not driving over the speed limit, because anyone who sees you doing that, who knows you, and that you are a Christian, will take note of it.  But mostly, because it displeases our Lord.  If we don't agree with some of our laws, we should work to change them.  The presence of the Lord was very sweet in the service.

Pat, I'm sure you were shocked to see people hauling cases of BEER into a CHURCH!!   :o  I know I would be!  My goodness!

I am so sore, I really need a chiropractic adjustment, and then a good massage.  Maybe tomorrow...

Almost time to get ready for church again.  See you later!

It has been raining here all day long. At times heavier than others. I have just been relaxing and doing nothing this afternoon. We had Missionaries from Uraguay with us this morning. They will be going on to Paraguay when the furlough is over. They served us with Yerbe Mate`Tea, In the traditional way it is done is Paraguay.

It is served in a cow's horn cup with a silver straw. the straw has a strainer on the bottom and the tea is placed directly into the cup and cold water or hot water poured over it. only enough water for the person to have a good sip on the straw. It is passed to each person by the host everyone drinking out of the same straw without cleaning it off. You are not to make any comment or face about the taste of the tea.

I was already familiar with Yerba Mate` Gilbert introduced me to it last year. It is sold in the states in specialty stores, our Coop here and health food stores. The main use in the States if to lower cholesterol. It alogive a naturak energy boost when drunk first think in the morning. without Caffeine. The taste is kind of like alfalfa.

Now wasn't that interesting ???

Nita

Hello.  I'm back from my vacation with my sisters.  It was so nice.  The cabin was comfortable, very homey and completely stocked.  We had a lake(I took pictures)too.   During the night(last night)the rain started falling, and the sound was scrumptious.  I met my sister's exchange student "son" from Norway.  He has captured all of their hearts, and she is sure going to miss him when he has to leave in June.   It was a good family time.....and as wonderful as it was.......I'm glad to be back home. :)

The puppies grew while I was gone!  And they are just cuter and cuter.  I'll post some pics soon.  Tomorrow.

As Jane said, it's cooler here now, and makes you want to snuggle up in a blanket to keep warm.

Good night, dear people.  I'll see you in the morning.  God bless.      Nita
