Morning Devotional...

The godly people in the land are my true heroes! I take pleasure in them! (Psalm 16:3)

                                  The Heart of the King

"The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will."
(Proverbs 21:1)

Think about that for a moment! God has reserved the right to override the will of a nation's leader, if need be, to see that His people are governed according to His will.

What's more, God will hear the prayer of any government leader. Even if he's the worst reprobate in the whole world. He heard the prayer of old King Nebuchadnezzar. Believe me, that means He'll listen to any leader!

You see, Nebuchadnezzar was king of Babylon. He was an ungodly ruler of an ungodly nation. However, he'd taken captives from the land of Judah. He had some of God's people under his authority. So, God began to deal with him.

Again and again, God warned him, "Nebuchadnezzar, you're going to lose your mind if you don't straighten up." And, sure enough, he went just as crazy as could be.

He stayed that way for years too. Then one day he cried out to God and God heard him.

Despite his status as a heathen king of a heathen nation, God intervened repeatedly in Nebuchadnezzar's life and heard him when he finally cried out for help. Why? Because he had God's people under his rule!

That same principle still holds true today. If we'll open the way through prayer, God will deal with our leaders!

If we will humble ourselves in unity and pray, God can change the injustice and corruption that exist in our country, or any country for that matter. He'll change the hearts of everyone from the White House on down to make sure His children are governed justly.

Make it a point to pray for our leaders today!

Yup I like that picture a bunch!

I got home about 3 p.m. yesterday (Monday) and it was raining until just a few miles from home!  I love the rain and it was such a welcome home for me after a few days in and around Sacramento ... the folks there thought it was such beautiful weather but for me it was just plain HOT!  Guess it's all what one gets used to.

I had a rather full and enjoyable few days in California but won't take the time to talk about it now.  I have some pictures that will be available soon. (have to finish the roll of film and get it developed), and I'll be sharing whatever comes to mind as I unwind from the trip.

At the moment I will just say it is GOOD to be home where it's quiet and cool and where I can be comfortable all by myself.

Gotta get to bed right now, though ... I'll talk atcha later.

Jane
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Nita

Hi, Jane.  I was wondering when you were getting back.  There's no place like home. :)

If we'll open the way through prayer, God will deal with our leaders!   Oh, this is so true.  A really good devotional, Janet.

I think the picture of Janet and Darrel is so neat.  They look so happy together, just like they fit! :)

I guess rain can only be wet..haha...and I guess that's why I like it.  But I like wetter rain better. :D

I'm going to try to get some sleep, so goodnight everyone.  Nita

Great picture, Janet!

Tuesday evening, and just relaxing with the family.  Today someone donated a case of small give-away bibles to our ministry.  It was a timely blessing, as I was about to order some from Amazon.  God is always on time! ;D

Tomorrow I have a counseling session that I know will be a challenge for the person who requested the session, and for me.  If you remember, please pray that I will be a wise counselor.

Here's some more from Ephesians 2.

Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus.  Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It's God's gift from start to finish!  We don't play the major role. If we did, we'd probably go around bragging that we'd done the whole thing!  No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.

In His Grip,
Kevin

Good Morning I am taking Jan shopping today. We go out once a month to shop  and have lunch.

Good news for Ruth, she is going to rehab Problably for about 2 weeks and then back home. She is doing very well.

I am feeling lots better sleeping well and getting over this cold.

Good word, Janet.  Wonderful picture!  I surely do appreciate your quotations from Ephesians yesterday and today, Kevin.  The paraphrase says, "All we do is trust him enough to let him do it."  Even "all we do" is done by Him - we couldn't trust at all unless He moved us by His Spirit to do so!

So, Nita - "wetter is better!"

Good word, Marilyn - the best that can happen with a cold is when it goes away!

Sue

Nice photo Janet.

Welcome home Jane.

I'm glad you are feeling better Marilyn.

A very rainy day here.  I must get to work.  Have a good day everyone.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We are getting some of the rain from West of us last night and today.  The weatherman said to expect heavier rains this afternoon.  We about an inch of nice slow rain last evening.  I am glad the landscape people were here yesterday to take care of the yard and not scheduled for today.

Pat is at a quilting guild meeting this morning.  I went for coffee as usual and have a meeting to attend in a little while.  Then expect to spend the rest of the day at home where it is warm and nice and dry.

Janet, thanks for the devotional today.  We certainly have an awesome God.

Pat, thanks for posting the picture of Janet and Darrel.  I noticed there was a new picture of Carol and her husband yesterday.  I am sure your friends enjoyed their visits with you yesterday.  Sorry to hear of the problems Norm is having and have to wonder how Judy and Norm can manage by themselves.  It is too bad they don't live closer to their children.

Kevin, God provides what is needed.  That was a nice donation you received in getting the Bibles.

Nita, I am glad you enjoy the rain.  I think I prefer the sunshine.

Jane, glad you are safely home.

Till later.

Marilyn, glad there is good news regarding Ruth.

Pat

Glad you all liked the pic of Janet and Darrel.  I took that of them in Niagara Falls when we met.

Must see if I have some more from that visit.

Welcome Home, Jane!

Kevin, so happy you got that wonderful gift of Bibles.  What about Gideons?  Have you contacted them to see if they have any?

Oops, phone ringing, must get back later here.

Larry ~ We have several different steakhouses depending on which city you are going.  Texas Roadhouse, Mountain Jacks, Lonestar, Logan's Steakhouse, Outback Steakhouse...just to name a few.  Sometimes you just gotta have a steak!!

Liz ~ Once my sister and I were on the Big Island and they day we were to come home they had a 5 point earthquake.  I thought Ivalou was falling on my bed and she thought I was falling on her bed but when I looked up, the drapes were shaking also.  But there was no damage to the island...just shaking it up a bit.  Sad about the earthquakes now.

Janet ~ I got my flu shot yesterday.  It kind of hurt when she was giving it to me but I didn't have a sore arm or anything later.  I've taken the flu shot every year since early '70's but one year.  I got the flu that year and told myself 'Never again!'.  And now that I am home alone, I don't want to be sick like that again.

Nita ~ I know the feeling.  I get tired reading these posts and how busy these people are.  I maybe go alot but crash between goings.

Marilyn ~ So glad you are feeling well enough to go to work.  Feeling bad is a waste of time, isn't it?

Carol ~ I slept great last night.  Slept like a baby.  That means I was up every 2-3 hours for the 'Small Room' but went right back to sleep.  A good nights sleep really refreshes you.

Kevin ~ It still isn't colorful in my neck of the woods.  And today it is raining...lots.  Ephesians 2 reminds us of God's love for us.  Thank God our God that doesn't hold grudges.

Pat ~ Glad you heard from Judy Mc.  Is hospice available in Canada?  Someone to come and do light house work.  They need a Marilyn to visit them.  And yes, that picture of Janet and Darrel is great!!!

Jane ~ It is great to get away but greater to get back home.  I love my alone time to do whatever I want to do even if that is nothing.  Glad your trip to Sacramento was enjoyable and safe for you.

Al ~ Yes, the best part of a cold is when it is leaving us.  Rest of it is nasty!!

Sue ~ Rainy here, too.  Hope work is what you want it to be today.  Mundane or exciting.  Routine or frazzled!

Yesterday I got my flu shot then went to WalMart to get a refund for some yarn I purchased and a stalk of celery for Ivalou.  Then I had a Fried Chicken Salad at Steak 'n' Shake.  I took the celery to Ivalou's and then called Kitty to see how she was doing with her router/modem/ internet connection.  She was just getting ready to go get a new router...it was struck by lightening also..so asked me to ride with her.  We went to Best Buy and then to Panera Bread for a Pepsi.

Before I went to bed, I got an email from Kitty.  The router isn't working...isn't that what makes her wireless and can use the desktop and laptop wireless and networked?  Today she called me and has spent 3-4 hours on the phone to the DSL company and to router company and still it doesn't work.  I think she is going to call my guru.

It is raining here big time.  I have a pond in the field to the west of me.  AND my sump pump keeps turning on.  Water is seeping in the walls of my little basement but at least, it won't flood...as long as the electric is on.   ;)

Euchere this afternoon and then I get to chill out for awhile.

Janet

Hi, everybody!  We have sundhine today!!  :) I love rain, too---the wetter the better!  ;) but since we have had three days of cloudy and overcast with no rain, it is nice to have the sunshine again.

Jane, welcome home!  Glad you had a good trip!

Nita, always good to see you!

Thanks, Pat, for posting that photo!  I hadn't seen that one before, and would like a copy of it.  <3  I called Darrel in to look at it, and he liked it, too.  :)

Marilyn, glad you and your client are both better.  When I went by to see Beth this morning, they were loading several residents into the van, and one lady inside called to me "Are you going with us?"  I asked where they were going, and she said "sight seeing!"  I asked if they were going sight seeing around Ulysses, and she said yes.   But I'm sure that just getting out does them a world of good, and since a lot were farmers, I know they will enjoy just driving around and looking at the crops, ets.  And it is a beautiful day for it!

Hey, Larry!  Always good to read your encouraging words.

Kevin, glad you got those Bibles.  Now you have whole loaves of the Bread of Life to share!

Etta Sue, I see you posted since I started typing---hello to you!

Pat,

In the past, Gideons has been able to provide us with Japanese bibles, and with the KJV or the NKJV bibles.  The problem is that the people we give them to are students of English as a second language, and those two English versions haven't worked well.

But thanks for the suggestion.  I will check to see if they now provide a version that is a bit more readable for the recipients.

Kevin, they don't use those versions now here.  You can get them if you request them but the version most used now by the Gideons here is another one that I can't remember.  It's on the end of my tongue though. ;)
