Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Morning Devotional...

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy.
Phil. 1:3, 4

In the book of Philippians, Paul speaks often about the "joy of the Lord" which is very different from the fun and entertainment of the world. The joy of the Lord is an inner peace that is not dependent on circumstances.

God's joy is supernatural because it originates in His heart and fulfills His purposes. This joy is available to all the people of God, but it is our choice.

Only when we allow Him to rule, will the joy that is in Christ overflow in our hearts and lives.
—Milton Haack

Joy is a fruit that will not grow
in nature's barren soil:
All we can boast, till Christ we know,
is vanity and toil.
But where the Lord hath planted grace,
and made His glories known,
These fruits of heavenly joy and peace
are found, and there alone.
Newton

Joyful, Joyful, We Adore thee
(Click to hear music)

I have stretched out my hands unto Thee.
Psalm 88:9

Words: Henry J. van Dyke, 1907

Music: "Hymn to Joy," from the 9th Symphony of
Ludwig van Beethoven;
adapted by Edward Hodges, 1824

Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love;
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee, opening to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; drive the dark of doubt away;
Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day!

All Thy works with joy surround Thee, earth and heaven reflect Thy rays,
Stars and angels sing around Thee, center of unbroken praise.
Field and forest, vale and mountain, flowery meadow, flashing sea,
Singing bird and flowing fountain call us to rejoice in Thee.

Thou art giving and forgiving, ever blessing, ever blessed,
Wellspring of the joy of living, ocean depth of happy rest!
Thou our Father, Christ our Brother, all who live in love are Thine;
Teach us how to love each other, lift us to the joy divine.

Mortals, join the happy chorus, which the morning stars began;
Father love is reigning o'er us, brother love binds man to man.
Ever singing, march we onward, victors in the midst of strife,
Joyful music leads us Sunward in the triumph song of life.

Good morning everyone.  I'm very late so I will come in later to reply to people.  The reason why I am late is because my neice called on us first thing to give us some home-made pickled onions - just when I was feeling a bit queezy from this sore throat  :lol:

Pat, thanks for the devotional again.  It meant a lot to me to see the difference between the joy that God gives and the enjoyment that we get from being involved in worldly entertainments.  It was very helpful indeed.

I trust that everyone has a really good day who takes part today.

God bless,

Anthony.

p.s. Pat and Marilyn, I should have known about the tuna loaf as I have had meat loaf on many occasions. :uglystupid:

Good Morning Friends ...

Thanks for all the wondeful notes. As for the job well it is a restaurant that is going to be opening up here in our town & it's going to be buffet style. So, we will see what happens next week so do continue to keep those prayer going up.

Good Morning Karen and Anthony!

I slept in today so I'm way behind in what I wanted to do.

We had a hard frost last night so now I guess all of the plants are frozen in the garden that I forgot to get in.  I'll check a little later.

Have a great day all of you and I'll look in from time to time.

Anthony, hope you are feeling better today.  I love pickled onions.

Hope you have good news on the job, Karen and also the closing of your old house.

The words of this hymn always cause me to think about my own walk with the Lord.  "Am I walking close to the heart of the Lord?"  "Oh, draw me nearer!"

Nearer, Still Nearer
(Click to hear music)

My soul followeth hard after thee:
thy right hand upholdeth me.
Psalm 63:8

Author:  Lelia N. Morris, 1862-1929
Musician:  Lelia N. Morris, 1862-1929

Nearer, still nearer, close to Thy heart,
Draw me, my Savior—so precious Thou art!
Fold me, oh, fold me close to Thy breast.
Shelter me safe in that "Haven of Rest";
Shelter me safe in that "Haven of Rest."

Nearer, still nearer, nothing I bring,
Naught as an offr'ing to Jesus, my King;
Only my sinful, now contrite heart.
Grant me the cleansing Thy blood doth impart.
Grant me the cleansing Thy blood doth impart.

Nearer, still nearer, Lord, to be Thine!
Sin, with its follies, I gladly resign,
All of its pleasures, pomp and its pride,
Give me but Jesus, my Lord, crucified.
Give me but Jesus, my Lord, crucified.

Nearer, still nearer, while life shall last.
Till safe in glory my anchor is cast;
Through endless ages ever to be
Nearer, my Savior, still nearer to Thee;
Nearer, my Savior, still nearer to Thee!

My ISP site where I have my graphics and animations must be down today...nothing shows.

I have two times in my weeks that I need prayer.  Wednesday nights I am up late and can't seem to get to sleep until wee hours of the morning.  And Saturday nights I can't get to sleep until wee hours of the morning because I have to be up by 6 a.m for church.  I can't think what to do to change this.  Really messing up my system.  So prayers are needed.  Thank you.

TBear ~ I was wondering if you were returing to A~W Root Beer Stand but now I see you aren't.  What type of restaurant?  And congratulations on the sale of the 'old house'.  I know that will be a burden off your mind.  Tell Kayln hello for me.  I got her letter.

Not much else on my mind except did you check out my photos in the October Challenge?

Have a Great Day!!!

Abby got her pumpkin carved.  :)  Have any of you used those nifty pumpkin-carving tools they have now?  They are not sharp, so are safe for kids to use, but they do a great job. :thumbsup:  She did good, and we took photos, so mayble someday I can show you those.

I am off to see Etta Sue's newest ones in the gallery, provided I can find them.

You're foing great with that new camera, Etta Sue!

Time for a grin?

MY HUSBAND, HERMAN, a representative for a major-appliance company, called on one of his accounts. A couple in the store was interested in a refrigerator and approached him for information. He offered his assistance and pitched the product.  Soon after, Herman left and made a stop at another appliance store nearby. In a half-hour, the same husband and wife walked in for comparison shopping. The salespeople were busy, so my husband answered the couple's questions. When he finished, the wife said, "You know, there's a salesman across the street who looks just like you."
    "That's my twin," Herman quipped.
    "Well," she replied, "when we're ready to buy, we're coming back to see you. We like you a lot better than your brother."

Nice joke Janet.

I heard something yesterday that appealed to my sense of humour.  Tommy Cooper was a very famous comedian from England who was also noted for being a bit miserly.  Once, after being dropped off by a taxi, he shoved something into the cabbie's top pocket and said, "here mate, have a drink on me."  The taxi-driver was astonished because he knew of Tommy's reputation, but as he drove home he couldn't help but wonder whether it would be a £5.00 note or a £10.00 note.  When he finally arrived home, he pulled it out of his top pocket - it was a tea bag.  ;)  Sorry about that folks.

Be back later.

Anthony.

Thanks :) Never did get to skate though :( They closed the rink suddenly because of the teacher's strike I think.  It was the arena's turn to protest I guess :( That's okay we'll go some other time soon.  I did manage to get my skates sharpened though today so that's good :)

Last night we had a concert at church by Anthony Burger.  It was fabulous.  Go to his web site and you can read about him and even listen to some samples of his music on his merchandise page.  You also can check his schedule to see if he will have a concert near you.    http://www.anthonyburger.com/home.htm

We have stayed in for the most part today.  We did go for a walk/ride in the neighborhood.

Pat, thank you for the thoughts on the joy of the Lord.  I thought of the song we discussed yesterday  "At the cross. . . It was there by faith I received my sight,  And now I am happy all the day."

Janet, I had a good laugh from your story.  Sorry you lost a post.  I always write on my word processor and if I am called away from the computer I save it so it will be there when I get back.

Anthony your humor was good enough for me to copy it into my humor (homour to you) document.

Teresa Dawn, at least you got your skates sharpened.  There is a time for everything.

Eccl 3:1-8

1   There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:
2   a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3   a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,
4   a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5   a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
6   a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7   a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8   a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

Good one Janet.

Etta Sue your photos are fantastic youare doing so great with your new camera.

I haven't seen anything around here "real" that looks like fall colours. The ones I posted were of the displays at church that my friend Loreda and her daughter Heather made.

Guess what I found outside inthe tubs I moved yesterday. My Jewelry. I have yet to find the muscle rub.

Still foggy here not gonna lift today.

Hi Everyone...

I've been busy with one thing or another most of the afternoon and just came to catch up with the posts.

Hope everyone is fine.

It's so refreshing to read your posts and enjoy the humour/humor and giggle a bit here and there.

Must go as I have to return a litre of sour cream to the store where I bought it.

It is time to go fix some supper for Abby and me.  Today besides carving the pumpkin, we went to the department store here in town that is going out of business after nearly 100 years (and it is our ONLY one!  :'() to take photos of the fixtures they have for sale.  Diane was interested in some of them, and I have faxed her the pictures.

We ate lunch at Alejandro's and came home and worked sorting photos (a whole big plastic tub of them!) so I could get them put away in a better place.  I think Darrel will be happy about that when he comes home.

Anthony, that was a good one!  Well......guess tea IS a drink, all right!  :laugh:

I need to check on Beth; she had a terrible headache earlier today.

See you later!
