JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

But as for me, my feet were almost gone. Until I went into the sanctuary of God.
Psalm 73:2; Psalm 73:17

The Psalmist had lost his focus on the Lord.

He looked around him and saw what appeared to be the prosperity and presumption of the ungodly and it discouraged him. In verse 17 he is brought back into the presence of the Lord and his eyes are truly opened. He began to understand about the ungodly; their present condition and their end (v. 18). He began to understand something of his own heart's foolishness.

Most importantly he learned that God is always with him (v. 23) and that He is the strength of his heart (v. 26).

Feeling a little down? Make an appointment in the sanctuary!

Take Time to Be Holy
(Click to hear music)

Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy:
for I am the LORD your God.
Leviticus 20:7

Author:  William D. Longstaff, 1822-1894
Musician:  George C. Stebbins, 1846-1945

Take time to be holy,
Speak oft with thy Lord;
Abide in Him always,
And feed on His Word.
Make friends of God's children;
Help those who are weak;
Forgetting in nothing
His blessing to seek.

Take time to be holy,
The world rushes on;
Spend much time in secret
With Jesus alone;
By looking to Jesus,
Like Him thou shalt be;
Thy friends in thy conduct
His likeness shall see.

Take time to be holy,
Let Him be thy Guide,
And run not before Him,
Whatever betide;
In joy or in sorrow,
Still follow thy Lord,
And, looking to Jesus,
Still trust in His Word.

Take time to be holy,
Be calm in thy soul;
Each thought and each motive
Beneath His control;
Thus led by His Spirit
To fountains of love,
Thou soon shalt be fitted
For service above.

The devotional certainly fits my need today, Pat.

Have not read all the posts for the past few days, so not up to date on things.  Severe back pain caused me to take a trip in the ambulance to the hospital at 3AM Sunday morning.  They shot me full of a new non-narcotic drug that stops inflamation and did blood tests, etc., then sent me home with a prescription.  Poor Wendy had to wait thro' all of this.  Ralph drove her into the hospital, then they waited, and she drove him back and returned.  This is most difficult for her as it is becoming so painful for her to drive.

The doctor in the hospital was not very helpful.  Seems my white blood count is wrong and they thought I had an infection, then couldn't find one.  So sent me home.  The pain got real bad again that night and Wendy got me into my own doctor, who also was not very helpful.  But the pain was not so bad that I couldn't sit, walk or stand, as the day before.  She said that I probably have a herniated disk, gave me some more and stronger new non-narcotic drug, said it could take up to three months to heal.  Ordered a cat scan to be used only if the pain didn't stop.  They phoned about the scan the next morning and I said the pain had stopped and they put the scan on hold.  Pill wore off and the pain started again.  Wendy phoned them back and they are supposed to re-order the scan.  So stupid, how am I supposed to be my own doctor?  Nothing said about the infection, nothing done to find out......I spent a little time in bed and had the first sleep in about five days....ended up sitting in the chair again.

It has come to the point where it almost feels pointless to go to a doctor now.  I am so disgusted with our medical services.  The hospital is not even clean and the waiting room is filthy, according to the kids.  I didn't get to see it!  Only good thing is the wonderful care that the nurses give.  They have the doctors beaten hands down.

Guess you can tell, I am really not going to come up with many sappy smiles today.  The sad thing is, my doctor is supposed to be a Chrisitan and is arrogant and cold.  Thought it was just my fault, but Wendy came in with me and she felt the same....Oh well, I still trust God to sort out the mess and know that all will be okay in the end!  (no pun intended).   :-\

God Bless.

Uh dear Liz you have really gone throough an ordeal.  We have similar problems here.  I will be praying for you.

IT IS SNOWING HERE????  Wow  I hope is doesn't stay.  I heard on the weather last night there was to be snow all the way down to Verginia!  It will be a combination of the hurricane and a strong northerly air mass that causes the problem.

I decided to take the girls out to lunch today.  Elizabeth is having a rough time in school and this will give her a more positive take on her day.  She really dislikes schiool.  I can sympathize, I hated school when I was her age.

Pat and Janet How are you feeling today?  Pat good devotional today, thank you.

Got too run

Love to all
Judy

Oh Liz!  Sorry for all your pain.  I had a partially slipped disc a couple of years ago, and I was not able to stand straight up (bent over about half way).  I went to a local chiropracter, sat down on his table.  He ran his fingers up my spine a little way, found the disc.  Another person held my knees, and from behind he place his fingers just right and had me rock back against them.  In less than 5 minutes I felt completely normal!  I was able to walk out feeling great!  He's had to readjust - a little - a few times since, but in the main it has stayed in place.  Thanks be to our Father!

I pray that you, too, will get complete relief from this.  Amen.

Pat - Lloyd-Jones is one of my all-time favorites.  Thank you!

Pat

Good morning folks...

I'm so very, very sorry Liz about your back problems.  I will be praying for you.

Snow Judy?  Keep it up there!  We had some the other night and some wet snowy like rain over the weekend but I was too sick to see it.  I'm feeling a little better today.  Have to go and put the garbage out later on.

I just LOVE this National Geographic Pete's Pond web cam.  I've never enjoyed watching anything so interesting for a long time.  I have my little Real Audio thingy minimized up at the corner of my browser window and then if I see elephants, etc. I'll enlarge it.  The bird sounds are so pretty and last night when I couldn't sleep, I came down and put it on and saw ostriches!

It's going to end on Dec. 8 so have a look!

Pat ~ I have heard birds on the cam but have seen nothing moving.  But then I don't think about it until it is almost dark over there.

So sorry to hear of all the illnesses.  Praying that everyone is on the up and up soon.

Cold here.  Had to buncle up this morning to take the trash.  First hard frost.  Hope the allergies go away now.

Not much going on today.  Need to mow the leaves but too cold.  Will wait for Indian Summer!!

Like Arnold would say....I'll be back!

Yes, that's an interesting bird, Etta Sue.  And just awhile ago there were three ostriches.  I got a screen capture.

Hi everyone.  What interesting pictures of the wild life.

Liz, so sorry to read of all your troubles and the uncaring doctors you have encountered.  Hope the pain will lessen significantly each day until you can be pain free.  I am afraid our country is headed for the same type of medical system that you have.

This is our third day of cool weather but at least the wind has stopped and it is nice and sunny today.

JudyB, keep that snow up your way.  I do understand that the northeastern part of the US is getting hit hard.  I hope the Atlanta Symphony Chorus will be able to get to New York today for their concert tomorrow night.

We will be leaving in a little bit to go to the downtown hospital area to see the doctor who did my implant.  This is a routine check of the device and I understand I will have to go about every three months for this check for the first couple of years.  I suppose they may make some minor adjustments which they do with a wand over the device and a computer.  I then will drop off my laptop to get the sound card fixed.  Guess I will get some reading done during the evenings now if my laptop isn't available.

Janet, I certainly hope your great neice gets help at Mayos and that her children will not have the same condition.  That is certainly worrisome for all involved.

Hope everyone has a good day.

:) Here is something wonderful I got in the e mail & wanted to share it with all of you ...

GOD KNOWS

* When you are tired and discouraged from fruitless efforts ...
* God knows how hard you have tried.

* When you've cried so long & your heart is in anguish ...
* God has counted your tears.

* If you feel that your life is on hold and time has passed you by...
* God is waiting with you.

* When you're lonely & your friends are too busy even 4 a phonecall...
* God is by your side.

* When you think you've tried everything & don't know where 2 turn ...
* God has a solution.

* When nothing makes sense and you are confused or frustrated ...
* God has the answer.

* If suddenly your outlook is brighter and you find traces of hope ...
* God has whispered to you.

* When things are going well and you have much to be thankful for...
* God has blessed you.

* When something joyful happens and you are filled with awe ...
* God has smiled upon you.

* When you have a purpose to fulfill and a dream to follow ...
* God has opened your eyes and called you by name.

* Remember that wherever you are or whatever you are facing ...
* GOD KNOWS!!!

I want to apologize for being grumpy early this morning.  That is not a good thing and usually makes one sit and ponder....I sat and pondered!

Thanks for all the kind words.  Even tho' most of us are strangers, there is something very comforting about this site and everyone who comes to visit.  I think that TBear said it all...

Being critical of my doctors is not really fair.  They are badly overworked and are literally working with tied hands when it comes to tests.  So it is not always easy to solve problems.  I am probably somewhat like my doctor in being reserved and lots of people think aloof.  Of course, you all know that is really not so...Have never had a lady doctor before and not certain how to relate to her....could be she feels this and responds in like manner.  Also could be that her own life is not smooth sailing and so on and so forth.  Moral being... :cool:

Yes, Pastor Al, I think chiropracters are great and went to them for many years.  They won't touch me now as it only causes more problems.  I certainly do recommend them as they kept me chugging for a long time.

Funny thing about suddenly being totally helpless, like on Sunday morning.  It makes one more aware of how much we really need God.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust the Lord with all your heart,
And do  not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.

Sometimes the path seems to be heading over a cliff, but that won't happen cause we always find the right road sign.

God Bless,

Liz

Liz, I am so sorry about your back pain, and pray a solution will be found and that you will be pain free again.

Larry, I certainly hope we do not go down the road of Socialized Medicine here in the US!!  As much as I dislike the exorbitant prices charged, I still believe the system works better with some independence left in it.  We have several doctors in our area who moved here from Canada because they disliked the system there so much.

Larry, thanks for remembering my great niece.  She is such a sweet girl, and I do pray she finds help for that heart condition at Mayo's.

I am feeling much better today, and have been running errands, helping a friend move, etc.  I hope I haven't overdone it, as I have a slight headache now and am coughing again.  :-\

I'm not ready for snow---not for a while, anyway!  Br-r-r-r-r!!  So, Judy, please don't send it my way!  Bet the girls enjoyed eating lunch out, nice thing to do for them.

I still can't get the National Geographic Webcam.  I get a pop up window that says the plug in needed for it is not available.   >:( :(

We have cantata practice at 6:00, so must see what we can find to eat before---or wait until after.

Hi Beth!  Great to see you in here.  I'm so sorry about your wee doggie.  I know it would be so difficult for me to say "Farewell" to Geordie.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Take care!

 :'( Beth, so sorry to hear about your dog. I am a dog lover myself, and it is so hard to let them go.

My husband Terry left out at 7 pm heading for Winchester Indiana, about an 8 1/2 hr drive.  Prayers for his safe journey are all I'm asking.  He should be returning home tomorrow evening.

My mother in law has been moved from the hospital she was in to one closer to home for rehab.  She was doing much better today, and from what I understand, no more fever!  God is good!

Not much else going on around my neck of the woods, just trying to get school in.

Almost forgot, a good friend of ours came home Saturday from a 12 month tour in Iraq! 16 men in his squad left out, and 16 returned!  We went down to greet them and it was such a great moment for all of us!  I think my kids may have learned more about what is going on than at any other time.
Take care all,

Samantha :cool:
