Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.
Exodus 4:2

God wanted to use Moses but he kept making excuses, "I am not eloquent. Who am I?" and so on.

He obviously felt completely inadequate. After all he was just a shepherd, and in his hand was just a simple shepherd's crook.

How could he possibly face the king of Egypt with his mighty armies?

But when he handed over to God all that he had--which wasn't very much--God took control and used him to deliver over a million people from slavery.

Reader, what is that in your hand? Have you given it over to God?
--David Croudace

Only one life to offer.
Take it, dear Lord, I pray,
Nothing from Thee withholding,
Thy will I now obey.

Pat, the devotional is so good.  So many times, when asking the Lord what I should be doing, He will reply "What's in your hand?".   I look around and see my family and the circumstances He's placed me in, and I understand.  What He has given is what's in our hands.  And as a dear pastor used to say, "Just do the very next thing".   God has usually already placed it within your hand.  How wise and wonderful He is.

A wonderful day.  Morning and evening church service was a blessing.

Janet, my puppies are Maltese/Eskie mix.  They're more Maltese I think.  From the pictures I've look at online....I don't see as much Eskie. (American Eskimo).  They're very small.  They will be 6 weeks on Wednesday, and the largest is about 2.5 lbs.  All warm and fuzzy and full of puppy kisses.  I must confess, there is a smidgeon of homemaker in me that is ready for a living room  minus puppy box and plastic sheeting covered carpet.   It'll be hard, but we really do need to find them good homes.  Two are taken.....but she wants to wait until she takes a trip at the end of November, then get them.  In the mean time, Kim (daughter) and Angel(grandaughter) are getting more and more attached.  This is getting scarey. lol   Only one, girls.  We only keeping one!!

Jane, I'm glad you got all your wood stacked, and I'm glad you don't have to do that again right away.  Our Father knows just how much strength we have, and then adds His own.  Don't you think? :)

I've felt so "efficient" today.  After cleaning up puppy poop from the box, I replaced my toilet seat that decided to slide off the toilet.  Some days are very humbling.  Some things you probably don't want to know. LOL  I must be tired.......   love and blessings,  Nita

:) A very good day to all.  Right now it is still dark outside wo I cannot tell what kind of day we will have.  Of course, I hope a sunny day.  Next week begins daylight saving time and I get to "fall" back for an hour.

Pat, a good devotional and a good reminder for me to look and see what God has handed to me to work and do His will.  I pray we will all be a blessing to someone today. ;)

Blessings report:  I am able to slowly walk the treadmill for 20 minutes daily - this is after weeks of nothing from having a sprained ankle area.

Larry:  Thanks for your good thoughts for Don.  I was interested in reading that you used EMU  oil and it helped aching in hips.  Will check it out.  Other remedies have not help Don's sciatica.

Jane:  You did the right thing by taking care of yourself and stacking the wood in batches.  Good going!

Jenny: I so appreciate reading your interpretations - you have a good handle on what our focus in life should be, living as Christ would want us to live and think.  Stay cozy today.

Hi Everyone!

I got up this morning and this hymn was on my mind so thought that maybe it went along with the devotional this morning.

Take My Life, and Let It Be
(Click to hear music)

Romans 12:1,2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Author:  Frances R. Havergal, 1836-1879
Musician:  Henri A.C. Malan, 1787-1864

Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my King.
Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from Thee.
Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect, and use every power as Thou shalt choose.

Take my will, and make it Thine; it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own; it shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for Thee.

Way to go, Carol. :) That is awesome news.

Great devotion Pat!

I am off to get the little one ready for school.  Be back later. :D

Janet

Our house is back to just Darrel and me today, and after four days of Abby's presence, the house is due for some cleaning!  ;D  We always enjoy her visits so much.

By the way, the photos are back in Visiting First Grade and Princess Party.  Hope you can take a look, and sorry about the problems with the server yesterday.

Good devotional, Pat!

Hey, Jane, good on 'ya!  Now you're set to stay nice and cozy this winter!

I was thinking about those faces on the ocean floor last night, while NOT sleeping.  Think I will go have another look, maybe I missed something.  Of course I was never able to see a picture in those computer generated prints, either.  Just looked like little squares of color to me.  Jenny, thanks for giving us the link---never know what sort of discussion something may generate, do we?

Carol, so good to hear your ankle is improving.  Give Don a hug and best wishes for his pain to subside, too.  That's rough, hurting all the time with no relief.  Ugh.

This week, I have an eye appointment, Beth has a doctor appointment, and we both need haircuts.  So I am very thankful for the glorious Indian Summer weather we are having.

One week from tomorrow and we won't be bombarded continually with election stuff, I HOPE.  May God have his way in this most crucial election of our lifetimes!  Oh, God, be merciful to America, and don't judge her as we deserve.

They are talking to some of the baseball players who are Christians (on the 700 Club) and their testimonies are wonderful!  Praise God for those who have the courage of their convictions!

I need to go find something to eat.  Talk to you later!

One finds the most romantic people shopping at home improvement centers. My son was helping a couple purchase a new door for their home. After he asked the man what size door they needed, the stumped husband yelled clear across the store to his wife in home supplies, "Honey, c'mon over here and see which one of these doors you can fit through."

Thank you for the devotional this morning Pat.

Hello to every one else who has been here and those who will come in later. For now I need to get dressed and put together.

LOL @ Janet!

Today is crazy hair day at the school.  So I put 4 pony tails in Chandraya's hair and braided them and made the bottoms look like spiders.  It is so cute.

I have the usually planned out today...working out, school, rock collecting for Chandraya's school project, and dance.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Failure and Success: The Great Goddess Numbers

Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious
stones, wood, hay, straw, each one's work will become clear; for the
Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the
fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is.
--1 Corinthians 3:12-13

The emphasis today in Christian circles appears to be on quantity,
with a corresponding lack of emphasis on quality. Numbers, size and
amount seem to be very nearly all that matters even among
evangelicals. The size of the crowd, the number of converts, the
size of the budget, the amount of the weekly collections: if these
look good the church is prospering and the pastor is thought to be
a success. The church that can show an impressive quantitative
growth is frankly envied and imitated by other ambitious churches.

This is the age of the Laodiceans. The great goddess Numbers is
worshiped with fervent devotion and all things religious are brought
before her for examination. Her Old Testament is the financial
report and her New Testament is the membership roll. To these she
appeals as arbiters of all questions, the test of spiritual growth
and the proof of success or failure in every Christian endeavor.

A little acquaintance with the Bible should show this up for the
heresy it is. To judge anything spiritual by statistics is to judge
by another than scriptural judgment. It is to admit the validity of
externalism and to deny the value our Lord places upon the soul as
over against the body. It is to mistake the old creation for the
new and to confuse things eternal with things temporal. Yet it is
being done every day by ministers, church boards and denominational
leaders. And hardly anyone notices the deep and dangerous error.
The Set of the Sail, 153.

"Oh Lord, convict us! Forgive us! Deliver us! Amen."

At church yesterday, the Johnson Bible College Choir was visiting and performed.  How wonderful their voices were.  Then I attended the second service.  Jerry and I try to sit on the back row on the aisle because we have to leave the service early to get the original sound cassette from the sound man.  I heard more chairs being set up behind us.  Then the praise songs began and I was thinking....what a great voice the man has behind me.  Then I realized there were other great voices behind me.  I turned my head and noticed the whole Johnson Bible College Choir were behind me.  What candy for my ears!!  Thank you, God.

This morning at 4 a.m., this is what I saw in the horizon out my bathroom window.

Then a few hours later, I spotted this from my kitchen window.  I went outside with my camera and got this picture...

Lots of surprises!!!

Here I am...coming in late today, non-the-less "I have arrived and to prove it I am  here", as the old Music Hall Comic used to say.

Carol  You are a real sweetheart.  Thank-you so much.  I needed that encouragement and you are one of life's encouragers.  God bless you.  Remember me to Don won't you  :-*

I have been out for a nice ride this afternoon.  I had to deliver something to a lady who lives near the park, so I went  over there and then I made 2 other calls on my homeward journey.  Wowie....talk about "swept away"...the force-ten gale was blowing.  My little "Rascal" kept stopping bless her  but we did get home safely and then I had a tidy up in the garden and a sweep up of the leaves in the entry again...Have you done yours yet Etta Sue?  ;)

I phoned my sister Lesley today and she is coming over to see me this week.  Praise god!  I have only seen her once in the 10 years we've lived here...I have been praying for her.  God is good!  She is a very busy lady, she and Roy my BIL have a boarding kennels and they breed English Springers., also they go on shoots...(not my cup of tea. Those poor game birds, just bred to be shot).

Brr..Brr...I have gone chilly, think I had better turn the central Heating on and get ready for the evening.  Chris is in for tea tonight so I have veggies to prepare....Hmm Think I shall have a nice cuppa too.

Soni.  Hi there.  I will pop in later to see the pictures of the hair  ;D

Marilyn.  Hello sis. See you later. ::)

I sure would too.  I did see something similar a few years ago.  I actually HEARD it first.  I couldn't figure out the loud noise and so I leaned out the back door and saw a massive balloon just over the top of the houses in our subdivision.  It didn't land though.

Lovely new photo, Etta Sue!

Hey there, y'all!   :D

For "some reason" I had a slow start today.  Achy and stiff muscles...  :-\  I had a few chores to attend before coming to spend time at CP.  But now, as Jenny says, I'm here!   ;D

CAROL and JANET ... Yup, that's the only way I can accomplish a task ... little batches at a time!  I was thinking that a year ago I couldn't even do what I did yesterday.  A pile of wood sat out in the yard for days before I could get someone to come help me!  God continues to bless me with HIS strength as needed.  You are so right, NITA.

ETTA SUE~ I was going to comment on your new photo yesterday but didn't ... I LOVE it!!   ;)

PAT~I sure like your new look, too!  Way to go!!  :D

SONI~Chandraya is sooo cute, and her hairdo for today just makes her all the cuter!

I have a nice fire going in the stove and things are warming up here.  It is not raining at the moment but it is pretty chilly outside.  I just keep thanking God for all His wondrous blessings!

I have a doctor appointment tomorrow ... we will see what he has to say about how I've been these last six months.   :-\

I'll be back later ... after I check out the rest of the discussions   :)
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

A quick run in and out.

Before tackling Pat's quiz ; maybe you can do this
    little brain test:

This is one of the strangest things I have ever
    encountered.

While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off
the floor and make clockwise circles. Now, while doing
this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right
    hand.

Your foot will change direction and there's nothing
    you can do about it.

    This WILL drive you crazy.

Have fun, take care and as always,

    Love in Christ,
    Joyce

    2.  He was a citizen of Rome

    3.  He was present at the stoning of Stephen, ( and held the coats of the stoners.)

    4.  The road to Damascus

    5.  He was struck blind

    6.  Paul was sent to preach first to the Jews, then to the Gentiles.

    7.  Moses and Elijah   (I'm guessing here)

    8.  For healing on the Sabbath day.

    9.  Athens (another guess)

    10.  Eutychus

    11.  Cyprus

Darrel and I got the house vacuumed, kitchen, laundry and dining room mopped.  I also got our airline ticket bought for next month, from Liberal to Denver and back.  You never know what kind of weather we may be having by then, and we sure don't want to miss our connection in Denver.  It will be a VERY long day, anyway.

I went over and tended to Beth's laundry, cleaned her bathtub and tried to get it to drain better, carried out her trash, etc.  So I'm making some progress today!  ;D

I heard from Lee Kirkwood, and he sends all of you his best wishes.

Now it's back to work for Janet.  Can you tell I am feeling better today?  ;D

I came back to ask Pat---how was the concert Saturday night?

Janet, the concert was wonderful.  Next Saturday night they are in Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto, one of the largest concert halls around and they are going to be singing to a sold out audience.  Thousands fit in there.

The church was packed for us but nothing the size of the concert in Toronto next week.  Yes, it was wonderful.  Most of the singers are Dutch.  And the organist just returned from Europe where he put on 25 concerts around countries all over Europe on pipe organs.

    Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Just a quick message to say hi.  Today was our son's 41st birthday and we went out to eat with he and his wife to celebrate this evening.

I have tried to spend as much time as possible doing research on the various potential treatments so I will be informed when I talk with the oncologist tomorrow morning.  Unfortunately, the more I read the more uncertain I become on what I should do.  I suppose that is normal when you have several options.

Hi everyone.  I have been busy with getting some things straighted out in my PSP  stuff. So I have not been on as much as I would like to be.  I haven't forgotten you all so don't think I am neglecting you. Just have other things on my mind.

Congrats Pat  "In the spotlight"I will go back and finish reading your story. I got part way through and my computer decided it only wanted to sit in one place and wouldn't let me scroll,.
