Morning Devotional...

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:7

And the God of peace shall be with you.
Philippians 4:9

"Peace on earth" heralded the Lord's coming. The Lord promised His disciples that He would give them peace which would not be taken away.

We are promised peace to guard our hearts and minds. Just as the heart and mind are critical to physical life, they are also vital to our apprehension of spiritual blessing.

The adversary knows that if he can diminish our love for the Saviour or our appreciation of His Word he has achieved a victory.

Is that possibly why we have the "God of peace" as our portion?
                                                               --William Gustafson

God's Almighty arms are round me;
peace, peace is mine!
Judgment scenes need not confound me;
peace, peace is mine!

Dear Ones I send prayerful blessings,

Ria it is so sad when the pastor and the council disagree.  You know dear I have felt that your church was on fire for God.  When this fire is going the enemy steps in to cause problems and in doing so cause  dissention with the people within the churvh.  There is nothing that puts out (quenches) the fire of God faster than problems like this.  I understand that you don't like this, but stand by and pray for your pastors that they may be strengthened and let them know you are praying for them.  Encourage them to keep preaching the word.  One of our pastors will find the verse I am thinking of, but it is written "Where I be lifted up I will draw all men to me."  Pray that they keep lifting up Jesus and Him crucified.

I just drove John to the truck, it is 6:30, and I am going to head back to bed for an hour ir so.

OH By the Way, David is fine, the fires are no where near him.  He was o9ut to the desert yesterday and drove through areas of high ash but other than that he had no problem.  His only comment was that the people doing this should be strung up.  But that is not likely to happen.

Love Judy

A Beautiful Good Morning to all :) ;)

I really feel sorry for both Jenny and Ria in their cold climates.  No wonder everybody likes to drink hot tea. ;)

Ria, here in our small town there are more than 11 churches.  I haven't counted, but there must be 25-30 different churches and then there are all the small churches in the rural areas.  Right here in my rural area there are 4.  A Baptist, Church of God and being from the South there are 2 churches of black congregations.  This is within a 2 mile radius.  However, we all do get together as a community and  meet in the fire department building whenever there arises some need for the Dovesville community.
This is an agricultural area and we have a good many
Mexicans who live here.  There is also a Spanish speaking ministry for them about 5 miles from here.
And, our church has weathered not a few ups and downs.  The last one was like yours with the members quitting the church and the attendance going down.  Those of us left really got on our knees and prayed daily for the church, for a new spirit of Christian fellowship, etc. and we have seen a revival in this church.  This has taken about 3 years and has brought us so much closer as a church of Christ should be.  We are all a part of the body and each of us has a part in it as Paul explains in I Corin 12.  Thanks be to God we are still growing..still having our ups and downs, but loving Jesus and each other.
I pray your church will experience a healing touch of the Masters' hand.

My, but I have rattled on.  Thanks for the devotional, Pat

I have worked this weekend and so haven't been able to catch up.

May each of you have a blessed day in the LORD :) ;)

I'm sleepy.  My son decided he neede to get out of bed at 5am this morning.  That is about 4 and a half hours earlier than normal.  he didn't have a nap yesterday  :-\, so he went to bed like at 7:30 (we had to leave church early because he was so toddlerish).  Did I mention that I am sleepy?  :P

I hope all of you have a good Monday.  I have work today, but I'll come in if it is slow.

Hello all you wild and crazy people!  And the rest of you, as well  ;D

Everybody pray for Travis.  He woke his Mommy up before 9, and she doesn't do well that early....   :P

All sarcasm aside... ANOTHER buncha bombings in Iraq.  Man, my heart just grows sadder every time this stuff happens.  I'm not trying to kindle any anti-war sentiment; I just really wish that mess was fixed...  :(

Gott get to work.  I'll check in later.  Good day to everybody!

Papa John

I thought of the song "Jesus Paid it All,"  Elvina M. Hall/ John T. Grape:

I hear the Savior say, "Thy strength indeed is small.
Child of weakness, watch and pray,
Find in me me thine thine all in all.

Chorus :

Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe,
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.

A little later today we go to see the doctor who did the colon surgery.  I continue to get stronger e very day.

A dear friend of ours passed away yesterday.  She was the mother of one of our son's in law.   We knew them in college many years ago before we were married.  Then years later our daughter married their son.  It is very sad for all our family but she had been in very poor health for a long time.

I hope you all have a good day.

Pat ~ I listened to the sermon.  I am glad that I didn't get that message or at least, didn't get the message that I needed to do that.  Daily?   Wouldn't it be hypnotic after a while?  Also, I wish our church had a duplicator that did 12 at a time.  Ours only does 3.  But the team is looking for CD duplicators.  There we could put images as well as sermons.  I only wish we didn't have that copyright stuff and could record the whole service.  Homebound people would really be blessed with the music as well as the sermon.  I love you, girl!!!  (((hugs)))

Mieka ~ It amazes me how all your posts are a breath of fresh air.  Sometimes we are gasping from laughter but fresh nevertheless.   ;D I am praying that the fires that are dangering people and their homes cease and that is everywhere throughout the world.  I love you, girl!!!  ((( hugs)))

Sonja ~ Did you start your book?  I love you, girl!!!  (((hugs)))

I, too, must admit that yesterday I left for church upset.  Church is healing.  And when you think of the love that God has for you and the love you have for God, all those little things that upset you tend to be minor and soon forgotten.  Please forgive me if I offended anyone.  It sure wasn't intentional.  I just know that when I read something that effects my walk with God....I want to share it in hopes that others are effected also.  My first husband never read anything!!!!!  He didn't understand why I liked to read.  I told him that every word we read is a learning experience.  Whether we use that experience, it is our choice.  Sometimes we think 'Why did this writer think of this?' and other times, it is 'Why didn't I think of this?'  Effect or affect?  Those two words trip me up often.  But when I read something that changes my way of thinking and stirs my emotions, it is both.

Today I am going with Ivalou so she can get her mammogram.  Then, of course, we will put the feed bag on somewhere.  Let's see.  It is the 27th.  Shucks, my day.  If it is an even day, Ivalou chooses where we eat.  And odd day, I choose.  Works for us!!  Hmmm.  Pizza Buffet at Pizza Hut sounds good and besides it is out by the hospital, too!

Papa John, it's great to see you back and posting, we definitely missed your wisdom and insight.  We're so thankful that you're doing alright.

I need to ask for some prayer.  For some reason last night, I passed out cold while I was at my fiancee's house.  I have never ever done that before.  I ended up having to go the hospital, but they dont' know what caused me to faint.  I have to call the doctor to make an appointment today.  I would appreciate your prayers about it.

Jen.

Etta Sue

I forgot to say 'Hi, Papa John!!!'  It makes my heart smile when I see one of your posts.  I am praying that the doctor gives you a thumbs up today!

Jen ~ Hon, I am so glad that I went back to NEM or I would have missed your Prayer Request.  I am praying that they find the cause or find nothing that is the cause...does that make sense?...to make you pass out.  I am praying that it is the excitement of your future marriage.  Or you are so much in love with your fiance that he causes you to swoon like a Southern Bell.  Glad you are going to the doctor!!

Pat

Good Morning Everyone!

I'm tired today.  I was up late posting photos and didn't get to bed till very late.

No Chinese today, Etta Sue?   ;)

Sorry you had to get up so early, Karma!   :-\

Nice to see you, Nards!  Have a good day at work.  I was awake in the night and turned my TV off to see if it would lull me off to sleep and I saw the "Breaking News" about the bombings.  What a mess!  It's sad.

Great to see you on here, Papa John.  Sorry about your close friend.  Sad to say "Farewell".  What a lovely hymn that is and the words are so meaningful...

Awful, Ria, when there are problems in the churches.  Hang in there.

Kathy, how far south is "south" when you speak of it?

I guess you're going to have to get a harder quiz, Lee!   ;)

Jen, that's awful!  Boy!  I hope the doctor finds out that there's nothing serious wrong.  Glad you were with Luke!

Hope you enjoyed your extra hour of sleep, Judy!

Jenny, do you have central heating in your little house?  I remember oh, so well, the long cold winters in Northern Ireland when we only had heat in the living room from the fireplace.  I got chill blains from sitting so close to the fire.  I'd be toasty warm on the front and so cold on my back!  Most of my friends now have central heating though.

My Avon order will come today and I hope to get it packed all in one day and out of here.  I have a dental college appointment this week too.

Busy, busy, busy!

Enjoy your day folks!

Hi everyone.  I read the posts yesterday a couple of different times but just didn't have anything to say.  Think today might be the same although do have a few things I want to say.

First of all, it was just great to see your Posting Papa John's  with the hymn quotation as I see it as a very good sign of the renewed strength you are experiencing on a daily basis.  Was saddened to read of the passing of your long time friend.

Pat, I am concerned you are not getting enough rest in trying to get everything done.  Most things will wait awhile and you must protect your health.

Jen, hope the doctors can pinpoint the cause of your fainting.  Sometimes that is nothing serious at all but good to get it checked out to be sure.

Certainly the wild fires in southern California are terrible and there appears to be no end in sight.  I believe I heard this morning that over 800 homes have been burned and just a little while ago they said that the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is in danger.

Ria, our church is also going through a tough time right now and we have lost a lot of members.  This is a big church but I sense a renewal of dedication and of God's leading in our church as we work through these problems.

I have an appointment this afternoon with my cardiologist as I am getting back to the point where I was before I had the EECP treatments and am not able to do much of anything without bringing on the angina.  I am hoping he will be able to increase or change my medication that will help with the problem.  I also realize I may be getting to the point with my heart, which is weak and severely diseased, where I will just have to live with this.  I am just concerned not to have my third heart attack as the doctors have told me my heart is so weak I might not be able to survive another heart attack.  However, I try to stay positive and just take each day as it comes and place my trust and worry with Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Elizabeth

Thanks Pat, that is a lovely devotional.

Like Etta Sue, I hope that my postings did not offend anyone.  Ria, I have never been to that church as I live in Canada.  It would not be my church of choice anyway.  Have been inspired by many of the people who come to speak and share their inspiring stories.  Some not so inspiring.

Ria, we also have a number of churches in the little town where I live and I found them filled with problems.  That is why I travel to a Fellowship Baptist church at considerable distance and expense.  Will take my blessings from books and testimonies on TV before being part of churches that hurt others.  Possibly the trouble in your church will pass....pray real hard for your pastor.

Not feeling especially well either.  My doctor made me try a new medicine that our Pharmacare is substituting for reasons of cost.  It has made me quite ill the past few days and I have now received some of the old prescription for 30 days.  Have to go back to the doctor and have him submitt another form to  get the coverage for the old....if your are confused, so am I!!

I am going to sit down with my prayer list and pray for everyone now.  Will help the spirit if not the body.
God Bless.

Jenny

Nita, larry and Jen, I will be praying for you today.

Pat and karmat~ Take a nap today!   ;D

karma, does Travis sleep in a toddler bed?  We tried it with Lila Mae because she was climbing out of her playpen but she refused for 2 hours.  We finally put her back in her playpen.  She hasn't climbed out since.  She learns quickly.  ;)
Have you started potty training with him?  Lila Mae is showing signs of wanting to be trained. She points and says she has to go, but we never get to the toilet in time.  lol... she went #2 on the floor the other day and she looked at me and then pointed at it and said "mine?"  hahahhahahaha...I tried so hard not to laugh.

Etta Sue, we did get started on that book yesturday.  We are enjoying it.  We read chapter 1.  We are trying to memorize the verses too.  I wrote the last part; things to ponder, verse and question on a postcard and gave it to each of the family to carry around with them all day.  We will discuss it tonight before we read chapter 2.  I can't wait to hear what the boys have to say.  Pizza Hut?  That's a change from chinesse and mexican.  Eat well.  ;) ;D

I have so much to do today. I hope I am able to get it all done.
I will talk with you all later

Good Morning Thank you Pat for the devotional, Yes the Peace of God will guard our hearts and mins in Christ Jesus. There are so many who need that Peace right now, some are our members here on CP.

Ria: yes That church is all glass. Mr. Schuler started out his ministry at and outdoor drive in theater and when he began to build his church he wanted it to be as if it were ourtdoors, that is why it is all glass.

Jenny  and Ria I do hope that you will keep warm.

Larry I will put you in my prayer book and on the prayer chain here.

Jen I am praying for you too.

I have been watching the news about the fires down south. I heard that now they are worried that it will spread to a little town called Writghtwood which  is about 45 miles from where I lived in the Desert, It is a small   mountain community in the Angeles National Forest where many people go to ski.

I don't know how many here who also post on SN know of Cherry Sowder, she lives in Ramona California where the fires have burned up so many homes.

Good morning/afternoon everyone.  I may be scarce here today, I am planning to force myself to get some work done around here!!  I have already stripped the beds, have a load of laundry in the washer and another in the dryer.  Have to mop, vacuum, all those fun things. :-\

Oh, how I wish the atrocities in Iraq would cease!  I just cringe every time they report another attack!  And these were against the International Red Cross and the Iraqi police stations......God, have mercy.

I feel a little bit of explanation might be good here, concerning Beth.  I have always been honest and straight-forward with her, never try to keep things from her.  The thing is--if she had asked the doctor what to expect, he would have told her.  She didn't ask any questions about her prognosis.  And the reason I am hesitating about telling her the harsh truth is that she is planning a trip to New York in December to visit her friend John and his mother.  I don't want to plant any negative thoughts in her mind that may cause her to think she can do less than possible.  I did have a good time of prayer with her yesterday.  She started using the walker yesterday, which makes it tough, because then she has no free hand to carry anything.

Another thing:  some suggested she probably knows from her NF friends what to expect.  That seems like it should be so, however, no two cases of NF are ever the same, and no one case is predictable.  Some of them lose hearing, some lose sight, some limbs, some are dwarfed, some grow over-large---and some only have a few cafe o le spots.  So, other than being a support system for each other, none of them can predict another's or even their own future condition.  Her friend John didn't even know he had NF until he tried to join the army and they questioned the brown spots he had.  He was underweight, so was rejected, but the doctor did tell him he had Neurofibromatosis.  His reaction -- "What on earth is that?"  He still has only a few small tumors, and he is a few years older than Beth.

TMI?  Sorry........

There is so much bad news on TV this morning...... :(

Definitely NOT TMI, Janet.  It sure helps to know all of this.  We all need to know if we want to pray more effectively.

I had never heard of this malady until you and I started chatting a few years ago.  I've certainly learned a lot about it now.

I pray that Beth will be able to make the trip to visit John and his mother.

Enjoy the laundry, etc.  I'm doing the same thing here.

I've been here ... just not feeling too talkative lately.   :(  My heart nearly stops every time I see the news from Iraq ... which is every day and sometimes several times a day.  :-\  I have a grandson, Tim, who is an MP in Iraq.  How often do we hear that another MP has been killed?  I know those mothers and grandmothers, spouses and siblings are all grieving even more than I, because of their loss.  I don't even watch the news on TV any more, but the headlines and CNN breaking news is always on my ISP whenever I go online.    >:(

Then, there's my youngest grandson, Bryan, from whom I have not heard since he was here in August.  I haven't even heard from his mother for a month, now, but the last time she wrote, she said Bryan is scheduled to go to Sunni Triangle (Southern Baghdad) in November.  I just keep reminding myself that God is in Control ... and I'm NOT!  He has kept these young men safe this far, and I know He has a work for them to do.  He will not fail them now, that's for sure!   ;)

Anyway, if you don't see my signature around here much, it doesn't mean that I don't read everything y'all write!  Please be assured I take every word seriously <except, maybe for some of Mieka's   :D>
and I pray for each of the needs mentioned.  I love y'all  ... you're my family!      :-*

I slept a little more than an hour.  The girls woke up after 9 so I was able to rest a while.

John is so generous.  he shares everything he has with me.  His pay, his camera, his dreams, HIS COLD! AND i REALLY DIDN'T WANT THAT GIFT! ! HAHAHA ::).  We are both struggling to get over it.  YOu know I have nursed the kids with one ongoing cold after the other and never really becane really ill myself.  Then this comes and the kids are well.   They are keeping me supplied with tea snt keep offering tyleonl.  Bless them I am blessed.

Our church underwent 2 splits.  We have a wise pastor who handled things so well.  The first was because a very small group of people wanted to go ultra charismatic, he refused as he didn't see God leading that way.  He gave them his blessing to follow what they felt God wanted and there were no hard feelings.  they still visit us and are considered friends.  The second split was planned by the whole church.  We lost about 50 members all who started a new church in a communuty where there was no bible believing/preaching church.  We supported them financially for a year, and continue to support them in prayer.  Pastor Dennis is a planter, and in the town of Lindsay the Evangelical Missionary  Church was started by him 30 years ago.

We had 3 visitors in church yesterday, and I was reminded of the church of nmy youth.  Three children from the complex next to the church came to sunday school and stayed to church. They did this because they "wanted to"!  Pray for these 3 children that parents continue to allow them to come and that the Lord meets them.

Bye for now, I am a little hoarse fromn talking ??? ;D

Love to you all

Janet - It's not like you're holding back information that would help her.  Maybe she don't want to know how bad it could get.  Often, the human psyche (at least in some personality analyses) will create a physical condition to match the mental impression.  In other words, if you tell her she won't be able to walk in a year, it is possible that her subconscious thought patterns will convince her that she is not going to be able to walk in a year.  Thus, in a year, she will have lost her ability to walk.  Would it happen anyway?  Who knows.

I don't think it's at all wrong to be gentle and perhaps SLOW with negative medical information.  If I were to tell my Dad, who is a classic hypochondriac, that he looks a little yellow, he would very soon be convinced that he has hepatitis, and would probably really get a stomachache or something like that.

If she asks, that's one thing.  Don't lie to her, ever, but I would support your decision to be careful with the information.

Now that the resident psychologist Dr. Know I. All has issued his ruling, other are free to wrinkle their eyebrows and say... "Just who does he think he is, anyway?  He has an opinion about EVERYTHING!"
