Janet........

You've said the magic words.  "Read Revelation".  I've taught it for over 13+ years and to me [now] it is very easy to read.  The beauty of Revelation is that it is "The Revelation of Jesus Christ".  As I've written before, the O.T. is the N.T. concealed, and the N.T. is the O.T. revealed.  God tells us of our beginnings in the O.T. and completes His Bible in the book of Revelation by telling us just exactly how He is going to bring His creation (The world) to it's close, and at the end of the Book He tells us the good news of Eternity future with HIm.

When we make a study of Revelation we find ourselves steeped deply into the O.T. prophecies.  I've read (And heard) where some people have said they don't preach Revelation in their churches, nor do they spend much time on prophecies.  Oh how these churches are robbing their congregations of what the Bible is all about.  God spoke more about hell than He does heaven.  Of the over 2400  prophecies in the Bible, most have come true and all to the very letter.  There are 300 prophecies about our Lord Jesus Christ, and most all of them have come to fruition, and the next cataclysmic event regarding Jesus Christ will be His coming to claim His church (Known as the Rapture) as found in 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17.  This signals the casting of Satan out of heaven to earth and the beginnings of the 7-year Tribulation.   :) I could write for hours on this fascinating and revealing subject.  Yes, Janet, "Read Revelation"

Oh yes.  You mentioned my favorite Biblical verse Rev.1:3.  "Keeping those things which are written in it" means to know, or understand, and he/she will then be blessed.

Jenny

RIA.

Thanks for reminding me of dear St. Nicholas...a great Christian.  Christmas is about giving and the Spirit of Love which St. Nicholas showed in his life...It would be good for folks to learn more about this Christian man who loved Children and is remembered when we celebrate the birth of his Lord and Ours...RIA you could tell us more....
GOD BLESS YOU DARLING RIA....

I had a different and scarey morning.  My oldest boy fainted in the dinning room and hit his head on one of the chairs.  I took him to the doctor and they did a bunch of test on him and tomorrow morning he has to go to the hospital to get an EKG and blood work done.  Yikes!  :o  I was so thankful none of the little ones were by him at the time.  Praise God for that.

Please keep him in your prayers. Thanks
Sonja

GOOD MORNINGto everyone else-hope that you have a wonderful day! I woke up this morning with a headache -we still have that icky cold going around..
I would like to request prayer also for my sister in law and their family ..they live in San Diego-the fires are 30 miles from them but, that was a couple days ago-so were not sure how close it is to them now. Please pray for them.
Also another prayer request we are meeting our Pastors tonight at a possible place where we will be renting our church building-we are in the beginning stages of building a church-please pray for us tonight as we meet there and pray and ask the Lord what his will is.

Hi Everyone...

I've just now finished packing up my Avon order and now the cleanup.  Because of the shoulder surgery I had 18 months ago, I can't lift heavy things yet.  I used to do my Avon order down in the basement in the family room but now I choose to do it in the living room where I don't have the heavy boxes to carry.  Well, wouldn't you know it?  I have empty cartons and bags and products all over the living room when a knock at the door and a friend who I haven't seen for a long time dropped in!  LOL  I had to clear a spot for her to sit down!  Now that would have been a good time for a person to call first!

Revelations/Prophesy
Now, I agree that it's a terrific thing to study Revelations.  I've so enjoyed  doing just this over the years both in my private and Bible School studies.  BUT and it's a very large BUT...we must remember that there are different interpretations in the evangelical world of just how these prophesies are to be interpreted and rather than cause problems with some on Christian Photographers that might not agree with how you or I are interpreting Daniel and Revelation and other prophetic books, we just don't get involved in the finer points of this wonderful subject.  Jack did NOT agree with Ruthie's father, for example,  in matters of prophesy BUT these two men had so many, many really good discussions together over the years and both are now in heaven worshipping the Lord together even though they differed completely as far as prophetic studes went.

Santa Claus versus St. Nicholas
We really have to remember that while CP is an international site, there are various traditions in different countries.  St. Nicholas was a real man over in Europe many years ago and some countries still celebrate a day to remember him and the kindnesses he did as maybe the USA celebrates a day to remember some famous person in the USA or Canada likewise.  In North America, our mythical Santa Claus has taken over our Christmas Day celebrations I realize.  And that's so sad.    But I admit that last year I gave a neighbour a little gift and didn't want them to know it came from me so I signed the little card, "From Santa!!!" with some little smilies.   :-\    I grew up believing in Santa as a wee tot and my older brother had fun helping my father make a little highchair for my old dolly to be put under the tree.  Then my younger sister came along and I enjoyed helping my parents with this game of doing special things for my baby sister (JudyB).  My parents just didn't dwell on it over the years and I didn't have any time of disappointment when I "found out" but rather I then enjoyed helping with my young sister.

But this is just my opinion and everyone has a right to their opinions.

Isn't it amazing the subjects we get involved with on CP??   Everything from #2   ::) :o to Santa Claus to cars to whatever!  And I think that's great!

               I can do ALL things through Christ, Who strengthens me.

I guess I suffer sometimes through  thinking that some things should be easy to do,
then they go surprisingly wrong!
That's when I come  to realise, that if I want a happy peace in my soul at ALL times then I must involve the Saviour through prayer in ALL of my plans, as I go through the day. ;)

Thanks Chris for that lovely hymn.  We can all learn from that that we are able to "Tell Jesus all of our troubles!"  Many of us (and me included) keep some things to ourselves and don't hand them over to Jesus to carry for us.

I hope that everyone clicks on your link, Chris and reads the words at the beginning of just how this hymn came about to be written by Mr. Hoffman.

We have such a wonderful Lord and Saviour!

Wise words about prophecy and Revelation, Pat.  This is one of the most widely interpreted subjects in the Bible, and we all tend to believe that "we" are right.  I don't shy away from expressing what I think is the best interpretation, but I fully understand and respect the fact that others interpret it differently.  Neither would I teach my interpretation as fact.

I also agree that we should be careful to respect others' traditions, but I do think it's fair to explain WHY I won't teach Travis that Santa lives at the North Pole :)  I plan to tell him the story of St. Nick, and wouldn't have a problem if someone dressed up like Santa and brought Travis presents.  I would simply make sure that he knew it was a guy in a funny suit that was doing some nice for him, rather than a everlasting creature who dwells way up North and rides a sleigh...  I think there is an appropriate balance.  We may include the IDEA of Santa in our Christmases, but I would never tell Travis a lie about who Santa "is" and what he does.

A holiday to pay honor to St. Nicholas does not have the same connotations as the American Santa at all, in my opinion.  It may be just as commercialized, but I don't want to belittle someone for that any more than I would belittle a holiday in honor of St. Columbus or George Washington.  They are all historical figures who deserve a portion of honor.
I survived open heart surgery.... :)

Hello, the Santa Claus/Father Christmas/St. Nicholas discussion is very interesting to me.  I grew up believing in Santa Claus, at least I think I did (I don't remember much of my childhood, due some "things"), and I don't remember being upset learning it wasn't real.  I did have a friend who was though.  Same with Easter Bunny and toothfairy.  I have heard stories of Father Christmas (who is different from Santa, in some ways), and I have heard the story of St. Nicholas, as well.  Even though we use the terms St. Nicholas and Santa Claus interchangebly, sometimes, they are not the same.  St. Nicholas existed -- Santa Claus did/does not.  The story of St. Nicholas is similar to the story of St. Valentine, the patriarch of Valentine's Day.  It seemed in Europe (at least Eastern Russia who celebrated Christmas sometime in January), St. Nicholas, the real man, was more prominent than Santa Claus.  They celebrated very much like Ria described.

Bernard celebrated a bit different.  He had "santa claus" (verb) but not a man by that name.  He knew that he would recieve presents on a certain night (thus the Santa Claus part) but they weren't delivered by a fat man in a red suit.

My brother in law, or dad used to dress up for my niece and oldest nephew and we would wake them up in the middle of the night and let them "see" Santa Claus delivering the toys.

My brother has a concept similar to Bernard's family.

Bernard and I just look forward to the presents and food!  ahahahhahahahahah

I do try to avoid any decorations, etc. with Santa or reindeer on them, preferring more "sacred" pictures, but sometimes it is impossible, it seems.

I don't know that any is right or wrong.  Sadly, each year, Santa becomes more important and Jesus less important (at least in the US).  For that reason, I am willing to totally abandon the whole jolly man in the red suit idea.

I remember (smiling here) one Christmas party at the police station for the children of the officers and Jack was chosen/ordered to dress like Santa and give out the gifts.  Well, his bulging stomach wouldn't stay where it was placed (Jack was sort of thin back then) and his "Ho Ho Ho" wasn't deep enough and one little boy started spreading around the tale, "Hey, that's not the real Santa!  He's nothing but a fake!"  We laughed at this so much over the years.

Exactly, Nards!  We all tend to think that the way we are interpreting prophetic scriptures and the whole study of eschatology is the right way and that's where it leads to problems when we say, "This is right!  You're wrong!"  I sure don't want that in here.  When Jack first came from Northern Ireland, he was a typical Ulsterman--a scrapper and he would have done just that!  He didn't agree with his own father on this subject but over the years, he mellowed and when asked what he believed regarding eschatology, he tended to try to change the subject if he didn't think that the discussion would end up being "friendly".

He loved to discuss with Uncle Bob though  Ruthie's father!  Both laughed a lot as they said to each other, "You're nuts!  That's not correct!" etc.  But never, never, never did they ever end up disliking each other or never did they get angry with each other due to the fact that they didn't agree.

I just know that both are together in glory having a wonderful time worshiping God.  And I'm sure they aren't discussing eschatology!

 :-\ I did not know what is a Santa at all not long ago. But I did have many santas in my life along my way. They are to me the angels of Man.

To my family they are the ones that give of the heart and want for nothing back. I know many many Santas today.

In my Christian home we honor all that are good even if they are not a Christian. We party with others to bring joy to life for all. and then we pray for them and give of our heart with a dream that God will find us all together at His door one day.

For me each of you here have been my Santa. I love you all and I pray each day will be a celebration of life, of love, and of all that is good.

I have try so hard and so many times to make a most wonderful post to honor each of you as my dear friends. I sit and I have in my heart so many words to share with each of you, but only a tears come out. It is SO hard for me to say a good bye. I will take each of you with me and forever in my heart.

I hope you will forgive me that my heart is not so strong and my sadness it is only the wonderful pain of love for each of you my friends. I love you all.

and I love you God.

I will try so hard to come back when I can do it, and I will miss you all for this time I am away. I thank you that you are all a Santa to me.

With all my heart,

It is always so wonderful coming here...any time of day or night..to 'see' my family.  I cherish the warmth of love and friendship here.  What would I do without y'all?

MIEKA~We love you so much.  It is enough that you express your heart to us and we know of your love.  Just always remember that Jesus is with you wherever you go ... because He is IN you!  You can take our love with you in the same way...and we will be so happy to hear from you whenever and wherever you are!  Don't stress about anything, my friend, you will always be well cared for and I know Jesus loves you far more than even we do ... and that's a lot!  ::)

As for the discussion (or not) on prophesy/escatology... All any of it is is man's interpretation.  God purposely left it a mystery and I believe that if the enemy can get us to arguing and debating and furthering our own opinions he has succeeded in getting our focus off the Lord, our hope of glory!  I believe, also, there will be many surprises and surprised in heaven.  Lets just keep looking forward to that wonderful day when we will all be together around the throne of our King of Kings and Lord of Lords... all our "differences" will seem so immature and futile, in the Light of His Glory and Grace!

'Nuff said ... I love y'all so very much.  Take care wherever you are and whatever you are doing.  Until next time ...
Love in Him
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Think it's time to sing again?

Imagine with me back to the year 1746. A ship is docking on the coast of West Africa. Its purpose is to snatch unsuspecting people and sell them as slaves in the far off countries. The captain of this ship is known far and wide for his debauchery, vulgarity and blasphemy.

But one day in 1748, while reading the book "The Imitation of Christ" by Thomas a Kempis, our captain comes face to face with his sin and turns his life over to Jesus, the Savior of sinners.

Our captain is John Newton. After his conversion and dedication to Christ, he became a pastor and hymn writer.

His most famous of hymns, "Amazing Grace", is a testimonial of his conversion to Christ.

AMAZING GRACE
(Click title to hear music)

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Shall be forever mine.

When we've been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we'd first begun.
