JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

I love the Lord, because He hath heard my voice and my supplications. We love Him, because He first loved us.
Psalm 116:1; 1 John 4:19

Both writers, though separated by many centuries, had solid reasons for declaring their love for the Lord. (If you are not acquainted with their reasons, why not look them up in your Bible?)

Today, whatever personal reasons we may have for loving Him, we gladly acknowledge that our love for the Lord finds its source in His love for us, so wonderfully shown at Calvary.

May that love have an ever-deepening impact upon us!
—G. Hall

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
(Click to hear music)

May I never boast except
in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Galatians 6:14

Words: Isaac Watts, Hymns and Spiritual Songs, 1707. Charles Wesley reportedly said he would give up all his other hymns to have written this one.
Music: "Hamburg," Lowell Mason, 1824; first appeared in The Boston Handel and Haydn Society Collection of Church Music, third edition, 1825

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

His dying crimson, like a robe,
Spreads o'er His body on the tree;
Then I am dead to all the globe,
And all the globe is dead to me.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Guess I will be the one to get the day started here on CP.  I didn't post until later yesterday evening so don't have much to say or comment on.  I did just enjoy a very tasty egg-bacon-English muffin for breakfast that my daughter made for Pat and I.  It is very rare for her to do anything like this so it was a treat.

I enjoyed the extra hour of sleep and it was nice getting up in the daylight again rather than the dark.  We will be going to church this morning and then don't have anything else planned for the day.  It is hard to believe the another month is about over.

Hope everyone has a very enjoyable day and is able to make it to church.

Marilyn

Happy Sunday to you all. I pray that each one of you will have a blessed day in the Lord.

Good Morning Thanks Pat for the devotional.

The service for Gloria yesterday was very nice, there were very few people there maybe 20 counting the Worship team. Her family thought the church would be full and were somewhat disappointed. Everyone who spoke had nice things to say about her. Her Doctor from the Indian Health Center came and spoke of her trials and said that her life had changed so much in the past year that she had been coming to church and the the church meant a lot to her. There was way too much food in the fellowship hall as we had anticipated more of the family to be there. But the family in Modesto  preferred to have a memorial for her there instead of coming all the way here. Her step father drove here and will take her ashes back with him. he wanted to be scattered here but her daughter wants to scatter her there.

This afternoon my grand kids are due to be back here around 2 PM, I am thinking of taking them to prayer meeting with me at 5 PM. I am awake early this morning, however I din't get out of be right away. I waited until 5:15  0:-)

There is a funny that was in my email this morning:

A little boy opened the big family bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages. "Mama, look what I found," the boy called out. "What have you got there, dear?" With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered, "I think it's Adam's underwear.

We attended service last night and afterwards helped assemble boxes for children overseas.  It is always so much fun and seriousness as well when Don and I go to the store and buy a few things to pack those Christmas gifts.  It is a good thing we went last night as neither of us feel very well this morning.

Last night, we watched a wonderful musical of the Trans Siberian Orchestra.  I highly recommend their Christmas albums.

Nita

Marilyn, that was really cute.  I sent it on to some of my family who will smile at Adam's underwear. :)

Marilyn

Thanks Nita I thought it was pretty cute too.
Here's another.

Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbour was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.

When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbour, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry."

Nita

I sure understand that.  We've seen a lot of that in my family in the last few years.  It's precious too.

Janet

I trust everyone is having an enjoyable Sunday afternoon.

We had AWESOME services again this morning.  Since October is Pastor Appreciation Month, we also had a lovely dinner afterward.  We presented the pastor and family with a love offering of cash, a really nice matted and framed poem of appreciation and affirmation written by a talented young lady in the church; many coupons worth such things as: a car wash, house cleaning, child care, groceries, birthday cakes, running errands, car maintenance, oil change, dinner at our house(s), etc.  It is such a bessing to have pastors who are called to our town, who really love us and want to be here and who preach the uncompromising Word of God faithfully.  God bless them!  :)

Beth is going to rehab in Dodge tomorrow.  I have to have her there before 11:00 AM.  I just pray she will really work hard and that she regains some mobility.

Larry, I think the poor Kansas State Wildcats are having a really tough year in football.  I think maybe they need some new players.

Abby and I went and got three big grocery bags full of miniature pumpkins, orange, yellow and white ones, brought them home and scrubbed them, then took them to the church to use in decorating the tables for today.  Four ladies did the tables, and they added some larger pumpkins, fall leaves (silk) raffia, potpourri, candles, acorns, etc, and it looked so nice!  We gave the little pumpkins to anyone who wanted some, so they wound up being a blessing to many.

Janet - what a lovely thing to do... "Pastor Appreciation Sunday".  I am going to suggest that to our board of Elders,

We can't show too much appreciation to God's servants, can we!  I liked the ideas of coupons, dinner at the homes too.

One church here in Guelph, just had their two Pastors give their resignations.  This particular church, has had problems for years.  There has to be forgiveness on both sides, - don't you think?

Larry, I'm glad your daughter made that breakfast for you and Pat.  It showed that she does love you.

Well, I must "dig out" my fabric pumpkin for tomorrow night,  We seldom have more than 40 children., but I've prepared for 60.  When it comes to 8:pm - I lock the door, and turn out the porch light,

Marilyn:  I didn't realize that Gloria passed away.  How is  Faye doing?
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Alma

A Big hello to all of you and please forgive my absence but this is so very important,

I just recieved news that my younger sister Laura who has had several heart surgories  (5) , yesterday morning in the shower started having severe chest pains;  and is now in the hosiptal,

As I write this they are doing a angyo cat scan to determine the size of a aneurism on the aorta of her heart, she needs prayer so badly, and I need to know she is recieving it.

Please all who read this stand in agreement with me that all will be well acording to the lords will.

Thank you all, God Bless you, Alma
ABOVE ALL PUT ON LOVE..

In Jesus Name, Alma

Janet

Alma, I am praying for your sister, and for you as well.  Keep us posted, will you?  And take care of yourself.

I have a hard time adjusting to the time changes.  It seems like you have to stay up forever, or else you wake up too early.  (Can one wake up too early?)  :-\  Anyway, I need to be ready to go load Beth up and get gone from here by 8 in the morning.  I'm glad she finally realizes that if she is to have any kind of quality life, she has to learn to do things for herself.  Please pray for her.  I know the process will be tough, but she has to do it.  And it was her own idea.

Judy Mc--here in the States, we have Pastor Appreciation month every October.  But this pastor we are especially appreciative of, after having been without a pastor for months, getting one we liked who only stayed 6 months; hiring another who then changed his mind and didn't come, waiting more months----God knew exactly the family who would love Ulysses, love the members of the church, and want with all their hearts to serve Him here in this place.  Praise His Name!!

Larry, it was nice of your daughter to make breakfast for you.  Maybe she will do things like that more often now.  You think?  ;)

Everyone must be busy this afternoon with things other than computer!

Nita

Alma, I just found your prayer request.  I'm praying for your sister now.

I can't shake the sadness for Rene.  I keep praying for her, and others who are hurting also, but the sadness stays.   I wish I could fast forward to a year or so......past the aching, lost stage.  She has Bailey, her dog.  I'm sure they are both feeling lost.

Oh, I hate death and cancer and heart attacks, and kidney faillure and depression and all things that cause pain for us.  Someday, Oh, Lord Jesus, there will be no more death or disease but only joy forever more.

Heading to pray now.  love, nita

Pat

Nita, you have me singing this!

What A Day That Will Be
(Click to hear music)

Martha answered,
"I know he will rise again
in the resurrection at the last day."
John 11:24

Words and Music: Jim Hill

There is coming a day,
When no heart aches shall come,
No more clouds in the sky,
No more tears to dim the eye,
All is peace forever more,
On that happy golden shore,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

There'll be no sorrow there,
No more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no pain,
No more parting over there;
And forever I will be,
With the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
