Morning Devotional...

Luke 22:14-22

What about The Lord's Supper?

When we partake of the Lord's Supper, and the bread is offered to us, it is the symbol of our Lord's broken body.  We need to see in that symbol that He offers to us His own victorious life lived in the flesh, a life in which He always did His Father's will. He wants us to take that symbol of His own perfectly righteous life, now broken and distributed to each of us.

So also with the cup. He's offering us that which symbolizes His shed blood - His life given for our forgiveness. As we receive it, therefore, we are receiving a symbol of His forgiveness, and by taking it we're telling Him we need that forgiveness - and we actually receive that fargiveness by faith!

So  we see in the symbolism that we can have His life in ourselves, His faith in our hearts - and we  also have His forgiveness whenever we fail to have that faith. We can have that absolute faith that He had in the face of awful temptations from the world, fhe flesh, and the Devil. We can have it because we have HIM - because He can supply it by His Spirit within us. Do you want to trust Him, to have HIS trust in yourself?   He offers it to you.  As you partake of these symbols, you're telling Him you're willing to receive it.  Not only that, but He's offering to forgive you all your failures - all the times you haven't kept your eyes on your heavenly Father.

Next time you participate in that ordinance, take advantage of what He offers you.  Confess real sins.  Ask Him for real grace to live for Him.  In fact, do it now in anticipation!

Break Thou the bread of life, Dear Lord to me,
As Thou didst break the loaves beside the sea;
Beyond the sacred page I seek Thee, Lord,
My spirit pants for Thee, O living Word.

thank-you dear Pastor Al.

Oh the Blessed Peace and joy that Our Lord brings with the Holy Communion.

"He was known to them in the breaking of the bread"

Here, O my Lord, I see Thee face to face;
Here would I touch and handle things unseen.
Here grasp with firmer hand the eternal grace,
And all my weariness upon Thee lean.

Here would I feed upon the bread of God;
Here drink with the Thee the royal wine of heaven;
Here would I lay aside each earthly load,
Here taste afresh the calm of sin forgiven.

I have no help but Thine; nor do I need
Another arm save Thine to lean upon;
It is enough, my Lord, enough indeed;
My strength is in Thy might, Thy might alone
.

Jerry.
My mother used to say she didnt like 13 as her mother died on the 13th.  I said "oh Mum, 13 is a wonderful number, you were born on  the 13th."

For many years I would not wear green, then when I became Born Again I gave up "childish things" and now I love the colour green and wear it often. It is a colour associated with life.

God Bless.

Hi everyone from an overcast and rather cool Georgia.  It is suppose to warm up into the 70s before the day is over.  I didn't get up and go walking this morning and Pat and I may go to one of the big malls (she hasn't been to it before) to walk.  Think it is about a mile around the corridors as it is a big place.

Beth, glad to see you posting.  It sounds like you all had a very busy day yesterday.

Papa John, thinking of you this morning.  Know you will be glad that the test is over.

JerryC, hope things will calm down for you all.  Thanks for sharing your new song.

Al, that was a fine devotional.  I looked to see if we had "Break Thou the Bread of Life" in our hymn file but we do not.

Jenny, green is one of my favorite colors.  I also like blue.  Thanks for sharing that prayer.

Hi Nita, hope you are feeling more rested today.  Also good to see Pinkie, Janet, Sue,  and Sonja posting after I posted yesterday.

Judy, so sorry you are having more pain in your arm and certainly hope you won't have to have more surgery.

Have a few projects I want to work on today so guess I had better get busy.

I'll Walk with God
(Click to hear music)

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the
LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and
to walk humbly with thy God?
Micah 6:8

Words by Paul Francis Webster
Music by Nicholas Brodszky

I'll Walk with God from this day on.
His helping hand I'll lean upon.
This is my prayer, my humble plea,
May the Lord be ever with me.
There is no death, tho' eyes grow dim.
There is no fear when I'm near to Him.
I'll lean on Him forever
And He'll forsake me never.

He will not fail me
As long as my faith is strong,
Whatever road I may walk along.

I'll Walk with God, I'll take His hand.
I'll talk with God, He'll understand.
I'll pray to Him, each day to Him
And He'll hear the words that I say.

His hand will guide my throne and rod
And I'll never walk alone
While I walk with God.

Good Morning: ad news about the flu vaccine. My Dr.told me  they were supposed to get it the 18th, I am one of those who needs to take it because of my job withthe elders, and because of my asthma.

Not much new here. Al and Marbeth came for a visit yeterday to return 4 pint jars. h Yes Al I am telling on you again. Do you know that Brother Al already finished 4 pints of Blackberry jam? I never did get to make some for myself and ithink the berries are all gone. I haven't got to look.

Have to go have blood tests this morning, time for the Cholesdterol tests again to see if it is still down, since I quite the Lipitor 6 months ago and started taking 2,000 mgs of Flushless Niacin instead.

Good Morning Everyone...

It's so nice to come in here and read all of your messages.  I won't reply to individual ones but just wanted to let you know that I got home last evening and felt better then than I do now but it's just the swelling in my eye that's bothering me so it will pass.

I won't be going out though.  I have a nice "shiner"!  HAHAHA!

Thanks so much, Al, for the wonderful devotion today.  What a blessing it was to me.

Lovely hymn, Larry!

Talk to you later.

Pat, I think we need a photo of your "shiner!"  ;D  Glad the procedure went well and you will be able to look at the world through both eyes again.  (((hugs)))

They are showing a baby giraffe on TV, it is 4 days old and over 6 ft. tall already, so cute!  Our puppies are growing so fast, and they are cute, too.

Beth just called to say the lady from Home Health is coming out, and she wants me to be there, so I will come back later to finish my post.

Here, O my Lord, I see thee face to face
(Click to hear music)

Text: Horatius Bonar, 1808-1889
Music: Edward Dearle

Bonar wrote this hymn at his brother’s request.  Its first
public appearance was in October 1855 in Horatius Bonar’s
church.  Later that same year, St. Andrew’s Free Church
in Greenock, Scotland, issued it in pamphlet form.

Here, O my Lord, I see thee face to face;
here would I touch and handle things unseen;
here grasp with firmer hand eternal grace,
and all my weariness upon thee lean.

This is the hour of banquet and of song;
this is the heavenly table spread for me;
here let me feast, and feasting, still prolong
the hallowed hour of fellowship with thee.

Here would I feed upon the bread of God,
here drink with thee the royal wine of heaven;
here would I lay aside each earthly load,
here taste afresh the calm of sin forgiven.

Too soon we rise; the symbols disappear;
the feast, though not the love, is past and gone.
The bread and wine remove; but thou art here,
nearer than ever, still my shield and sun.

Feast after feast thus comes and passes by;
yet, passing, points to the glad feast above,
giving sweet foretaste of the festal joy,
the Lamb's great bridal feast of bliss and love.

Papa John ~ I remember that awful stuff....but it is better than years back.  I am praying for a great report!!!

Judy Mc ~ No secret on how I remember when posting.  I flip back and forth between NEM and notepad when I post a long post like yesterday.  Then I do the HTML codes after copying and pasting to the 'reply' window.  When I first did this, it was hard....now it is second hand.

Pinkie ~ Oh, yes!  It scared me when Ali got out.  I live way out in the country and she could run for miles if she so pleased.  But, thank God, she did turn back.  Now Inky?  I think she would like being outside.  I can only imagine what all she would find.  I carry her outside and she is so busy looking at the birds, the leaves, anything that moves!!!!  She misses nothing!

Al ~ Thanks for the lovely devotion.  We must always take communion seriously.  Truly, after seeing 'The Passion of the Christ', I will always 'see' in my mind what HE did for me.  Oh, I know.  I have read what he did many times but 'seeing' on film really impacted my thoughts!

jerryc ~ My maternal grandmother was born January, Friday the 13th, 1876.  My parents were married January, Friday the 13th, 1933.  It wasn't on Friday but my parents were in an auto accident on their 53rd wedding anniversay on January 13th.  Dad was killed instantly.  Mom was in the hospital 57 days before returning home.  Mom and Dad always celebrated their anniversary as well as every Friday the 13th.  When the first Friday the 13th rolled around after Dad's death, us kids wondered what Mom would say or do.  Well, we all went out to eat to celebrate Friday the 13th.  Why?  Because Mom said she had many more happy memories of Friday the 13th than she had bad memories.  Dad passed away in 1987 and Mom passed away in 2001.  God bless my parents for leaving us kids great memories.

Pat ~ I think the same as Janet.  We need a photo of your shiner!!!!

I got up this morning around 6:30 a.m.  It sure looked weird outside.  Everything was a pinkish/orangish glow.  Even the reflection on my linoleum was that glow.  I looked out the bathroom window and the grass was orange.  I looked out several windows and the sky was pink!  It was simply beautiful....but I didn't take pictures.  I wasn't THAT awake!

Pat I haven't posted this in prayers but I am sure folks will be praying...

Gosh some red faces here as well as in Canada.  Surely the British naval authorities  should have checked them out too before we loaned them to Canada..Those poor sailors. Their families must be having a dreadful wait..

Just going to close down now.  It's so cold here tonight,I've got the central heating on full pelt. Best thing is to cuddle up by the fire with my Pushkin cat....ha ha..he's sprawled out on the rug gathering strength for the journey into the deep dark allotments later on.  ;D

Please God rescue all those dear remaining sailors alive. Amen.

Good night and God Bless.

I want to thank all of you who prayed for me.  We were up early this morning and were at the hospital for the colonoscopy at 8:00.  Everything went well.  The doctor and nurses assured me I wouldn’t feel a thing.  They put me to sleep and I woke up and it was all over.  The doctor came in and he was delighted with the results.  He said everything was fine.  He showed me pictures of where the cancer had been removed last year.  There was no recurrence and no polyps.  He said to have the procedure in two years.

I have read all the posts but won’t try to comment on them.  Seems like there are so many things we need to pray for, the preacher in India, the Canadian sailors on the submarine, etc.

19   Do not put out the Spirit's fire;
20   do not treat prophecies with contempt.
21   Test everything. Hold on to the good.
22   Avoid every kind of evil.  (NIV)

Yes Jenny, I do love both of the Bonar brothers and their writings.  My very favorite hymn is by Horatius Bonar.  It's called "I hear the words of love."  So simple, so direct, so worshipful toward our Lord Jesus!

Thank You, Lord, for the good report on Papa John.  How merciful is our God!

Here you are, Al...

I Hear the Words of Love
(Click to hear music)

And, having made peace through the blood of his cross,
by him to reconcile all things unto himself;
by him, I say, whether they be things
in earth, or things in heaven.
Colossians 1:20

Author:  Horatius Bonar, 1808-1889
Musician:  French-Genevan Psalter, 1551
Adapt. William Crotch, 1775-1847

I hear the words of love,
I gaze upon the blood,
I see the mighty sacrifice,
And I have peace with God.

'Tis everlasting peace,
Sure as Jehovah's name;
'Tis stable as His steadfast throne,
Forevermore the same.

The clouds may come and go,
And storms may sweep my skyâ€"
This blood-sealed friendship changes not:
The cross is ever nigh.

My love is ofttimes low,
My joy still ebbs and flows;
But peace with Him remains the sameâ€"
No change Jehovah knows.

I change, He changes not,
The Christ can never die;
His love, not mine, the resting-place,
His truth, not mine, the tie.

Papa John, so glad to read your very good news from your test today.

Terrible news about the pastors kidnapped and beaten.  We are having many Christians being persecuted now around the world.  Also so sorry to hear of the submarine problem that Canada and Great Britian are experiencing.  A fire in a sub is very frightening.

Pat, glad your procedure went well.  Wear that black eye proudly as you earned by undergoing the procedure. ::)

Pat and I went to the big shopping center and spent about 2 hours.  I think it was just too much for me as haven't felt very good since.  Will be glad when I can get back on my Plaviiks and aspirin to be sure my blood stays slick and think.  I called today but the report from the blood test has not yet reached the doctor.

Hi to everyone posting.  About time to turn in for today.

Marilyn

Hi y-all I'm back I posted 4 photos in the Gallery, two photos , two Psp lessons. I hope thats ok.

Went to see Fay today I put an update in prayers.

Jenny dear, I am praying for that change to take place.

Gotta go now. Make phone calls.

Good news!!  Beth will be having visits from the Home Health Care people three times a week, one visit from the nurse, and the therapist is coming tomorrow to evaluate her!  I didn't expect this much help, but praise our loving Father, Who is always more than enough!

I'm exhausted and need to do the NEM for tomorrow, so I will bid you all pleasant dreams and be off!

Pat and all...
I'm looking for a song - it's one that we used to sing in charismatic circles in the early 80's...
It goes something like this:
Every place on which you put (or set) your foot - I have given it to you, I have given it to you.
No man will be able to stand before, I will _______ for you, I will _____ for you.
Be strong and courageous, do not tremble or be disma-a-ayed
The Lord your God is with you...wherever you gooooo.

That's about all I can remember and I can't nail the tune down either.
It has kind of a Jewish sound to it...
Can you help me???
Thanks

If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36

Pat - there is no way that I can adequately express what it meant to me for you to post that hymn.  When I go to be with our Lord, I would like some kind of memorial service to occur.  I would like that hymn to be sung then.  It's my confession of faith.

Pat
