Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

"Faith is rest, not toil. It is the giving up all the former weary efforts to do or feel something good, in order to induce God to love and pardon; and the calm reception of the truth so long rejected, that God is not waiting for any such inducements, but loves and pardons of His own goodwill, and is showing that goodwill to any sinner who will come to Him on such a footing, casting away his own poor performances or goodnesses, and relying implicitly upon the free love of Him who so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son."
Horatius Bonar

Morning Devotional...

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
1 Timothy 6:7

I held for the first time my new born granddaughter and contemplated the truth of the above verses.

Upon entry into the world she did not bring anything with her. No clothes, no money, no titles, in fact she was totally dependent on others.

Did we not all come in the same way?

It is certain we will leave likewise! We cannot take out any wealth, possessions, medals or anything this world holds dear.

However we will leave with or without a Saviour. What will it be for you?
—Jim Paul

Out of Christ without a Saviour?
Trust him with all your heart,
Ere the door of mercy closes
and you hear the word depart.

Good Morning all. Thank you Pat for the morning devotional. It is lovely to know that men like Horatious Bonar are considered with such affection and worthy of quote.Praise God for giving us such that reflect the image of His only Son , the Lord Jesus Christ.

Well folks our day in Scotland has already begun. As you awake wherever you are , may you know the blessing of sins forgiven and the presence of the Lord ever near.

I hear the words of love,
I gaze upon the Blood,
I see the mighty Sacrifice,
And I have peace with God!

'Tis everlasting peace!
Sure as Jehovahs's Name;
'Tis stable as His steadfast throne,
Forever-more the same!

The clouds may come and go,
And storms may sweep my sky.
This blood-seal'd friendship changes not;
the Cross is every nigh.

My love is oftimes low,
My joy still ebbs and flows;
But peace with Him remains the same -
No change Jehovah knows.

I change, He changes not,
The Christ can never die;
His love, not mine, the resting place,
His truth, not mine the tie.

Horatius Bonar

Your great little devotional reminded me of this, Pat.

What great words, Al!

So let's sing it!

Good morning.  Looks like we are going back to summer here in Nashville.  The forecast says we are going back in the 90's for the first time in a week or so.

I am looking forward to the change of season as the beautiful colors of fall will be here soon.  Cooler days and nights, the crispy sound of the wind through the trees, the falling leaves are things I look forward to.

Two weeks from today we will drive over to Pigeon Forge for our week in the time share.  I believe this will be our 10th year.  We enjoy going over to Gatlinburg and taking a drive through portions of the Smokey Mountain National Park, the most visited National Park in the country.

I hope things will go well for all of you today.

2 Tim 4:2-3
2   Preach the word; be instant , in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3   For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

Thanks so much, Pat!  That's my favorite of all hymns.  I very much would like it sung in remembrance of me some day.

Thanks Papa John.  You've made me almost wish that autumn was here already but I mustn't rush it! ;)  I also like the colours of the season and I'm looking forward to going for some drives with Geordie to try to capture some of them this year.  I think that the nicest time of photo'ing the colours of autumn was up at Camp Dorset with Jack in 2000 and they were glorious!  What great scriptures you've shared today with us as well.

Glad you liked that, Al!  I also really like that hymn.  The words are so meaningful.

Good Morning everyone, I have been busy in the kitchen getting a batch of Etta Sue's Zucchini bread into the oven I made 5 small loaves. I am almost all packed up I still have the kitchen and bathroom to pack  and a few things off the top of my dresser.

Ok, Ok, Al you provide the Berries and Splenda I will provide the jars and the labor. At least I know where the jars are, they are packed in an open milk crate. Oh yeah I will also provide the pectin. Unless we wait until after I move either way is fine with me, it all depends on the Berries.

Today is only 3 hours at Fay's then the rest of the day is mine. I have been crocheting an Afghan for my friend Kitty who lives down south in the desert for Christmas It is just about 1/2 done.  With Christmas coming in just a couple of months I need to get busy and go put stuff on layaway and also Gilbert's birthday is in  a few weeks.  Oh mi-gosh I have a lot to get done..

What an interesting challenge, Karma!  Now, is this supposed to be an actual photo of a book or something that has something to do with books or reminds us of a book like going back to school?

Uh, Pat....I think I made it a four-way tie!!  Sorry!

What wonderful devotions these last few days.  Great wisdom and feel good thoughts.

Ivalou, Bernice and I stopped at TGI Fridays after Bernice's appointment....(there is no sound reason why anyone should wait 2 hours for an appointment without someone telling you why you are waiting so long).  I had what was called 'Chocolate Rush'.....Chocolate cake, Chocolate ice cream, Chocolate icing, shaved Chocolate, Chocolate syrup and Raspberry sauce.  Yummm!  And was sung 'Happy Birthday' to by the servers.  Last night Tony, Charlene, Ivalou and I went to Logan's Steak house in honor of my birthday last evening.  Wonderful salad, baked sweet potato, sirloin and rolls.  Yummmm!  Then we went to T and C's to chat.  Finally after 11 p.m., I told Ivalou we had better leave so Tony and Charlene could go to bed.  I said that before Tony said to Charlene...'Let's go to bed so Mom and Aunt Lucy can go home'!!

Today I have a wedding to go to at 4:30 p.m. and reception afterwards.  And I need to stop at the grocery before returning home.  The assistant to the Children's Minister is getting married.  Matt and Dana are also in my Small Groups Bible Study.  Dana just started working in the church office and loves it!!

Hi everyone.  It will soon be noon and that means on a Saturday that the college football games will soon begin for the day.  Georgia plays South Carolina this evening at 5:30 pm and then Georgia Tech plays this evening.  The Braves play this afternoon so have plenty of sports to watch (or listen to as I often am doing other things while I have the games on.)

My daughters computer has something wrong with it.  My good friend, Rod, came over after coffee and he took it back to his house to work on as he has a workbench in his basement just setup for his computer work of that type.  The warranty on the hard disk expires tomorrow so if it had to happen and that is the problem I am glad it happened now as I can get a replacement under the warranty.  I can still also extend the warranty for 2 years for aboug $15 and will do so if the problem happens to be something other than the hard disk.  Trying to keep up with 4 different computers is really a task.

Marilyn, it would probably be better if your new landlord furnished the cooking stove since you wouldn't have to move a stove and if something goes wrong with it in the future it would be the problem of your landlords.  It sounds like you are about ready to move and know you are probably counting the days.  I am sure you will enjoy living in a house again.

We now have at least 25,000 evacuees from the hurricane in the Atlanta area.  Our county school district is expecting at least 1000 new students due to this as many of these folks will likely settle in our county.

Papa John, has it been a year since you were at Pigeon Forge?  It doesn't seem like it has been that long but guess the time just goes by quickly.  Are you going to Florida again this winter?

Etta Sue, I am glad to hear that PSP 10 is easier to use.  Maybe someday I will upgrade but what I have now certainly meets my needs.  I just don't seem to have much time to work on graphics.

Janet, after the last (and hopefully final) garage sale we had a couple of years ago I took everything that didn't sell and donated it to the Goodwill Center.  I plan to go through my closet and donate some of the items I have.  I don't need all the shirts and pants that I have accumulated over a period of time.

Pat, thanks for the devotional for today and the hymns.

Guess I had better get a bite to eat.

Pat

Janet

Hello, friends.  I am one tired gal today, as I didn't get more than a couple hours' sleep again last night.

We got finished with the yard sale, and I gave the rest of the clothing to my sister whose church gives it to those in need.  The rest of the things will be taken to the senior center for their next garage sale.  What doesn't sell then is donated to the Goodwill store in Garden City.  My main objective was NOT to bring any of it back home!

My mom is not doing well at all.  She hasn't been eating much at all, and has had a robust appetite all her life, so this is very uncharacteristic for her.  Today after finishing with the yard sale, I went by the care home to see about her and found my sister, a nephew from Oklahoma and his wife there.  They had been asking Mom what she wanted to eat, and she had told them "I want fresh tomatoes, green pepper, okra and watermelon."  They were wondering where in the world they could find those items, and when they told me, I said "I have all those things.  I'll go home and fix her a plate; be right back."  So I did, and she ate everything except part of the okra.  The nurse said that was more than she had eaten in over a week!  So that was good.

When I got home, I called my other two sisters to alert them to Mom's condition.  Now they know, and can plan accordingly.  I feel she is slipping away, but hope I am wrong.  Her color is just awful, and she doesn't act herself at all.

Well, I am now going to try to rest for a little while, then get back to work on Beth's place.

Oh, Papa John!  Little Elsie is growing SO fast, and is such a little darling!  Thanks for letting us see her again.

Janet try not to wear yourself out so much you really do need to rest yourself and not work so harrd. Of course I am really the one to tell you to slow down.  ;)

I'm sorry, Janet, that you are finding that your mother is not doing too well.  That's sad.  But how good that you had all those things that you could give her to eat!  Wow!  That must have made you feel good and your sister.

What a darling little girl Papa John.  They are so precious at that age.  Their personality is developing and wheir will starts to show.

We have had a big day, I have tossed more and more. even the girls are getting in on the tossing!

Pat I hope your company got a lot done for you.?

Well I have a loaf of bread in the machine I want to make buns for the girls lunches.  They prefir that too.

Bye for now.

Janet

Thanks, Marilyn---I think I will take your advice and go to bed early tonight, hoping to sleep and not lie there wide awake like I have done the past two nights.  My throat is very sore; I had Darrel look at it and he says it looks raw.  So I am treating that.  I think my poor body is telling me it needs a day or two off!  So I'm glad tomorrow is Sunday.  :)

Abby called and told me she wants me to come see her tomorrow, because it is grandparents' day.  I wish I could.  She is really missing me, and I am missing her, too.  We need some good time together, but I think it won't happen until we get home from South Dakota.  :'(

JudyB, please come and help me toss, toss, toss!  I'm getting tired.  :-\

Yes, Pat, I was really happy that I had all the foods Mom was asking for, and that she enjoyed them.  I must take her in food often, now that I know she hasn't been eating.  No matter how good it is, institutional food gets tiresome after a while---not like good home cooking.  I called my other two sisters to let them know Mom isn't doing well, so they can plan to come see her soon.

See you fine folks tomorrow.

Janet I am so glad to hear that you are going to take it easy for a coupl eof days. Are you gargling with Salt water, that always works for me.

I have called Ruth Ann twice and left her messages, still haven't heard from her. Have you Pat?

I am feeling a little under the weather, a cold? or allergies? don't know. So I started the "Airborne" and the "Zicam" swabs just in case. Savannah had a cold/allergy when she was here last weekend. I need to get some Vitamin C and Zinc to keep on hand.

Judyb wanna come help me toss out more stuff before I move. You are sure gonna be busy traveling around helping us toss, toss, toss.  :o

Good Night all
