JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus and Surprises
John 2:1-12  NLT

The next day Jesus' mother was a guest at a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the celebration. The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus' mother spoke to him about the problem. "They have no more wine," she told him.

"How does that concern you and me?" Jesus asked. "My time has not yet come."

But his mother told the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."

Six stone waterpots were standing there; they were used for Jewish ceremonial purposes and held twenty to thirty gallons each. Jesus told the servants, "Fill the jars with water." When the jars had been filled to the brim, he said, "Dip some out and take it to the master of ceremonies." So they followed his instructions.

When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. "Usually a host serves the best wine first," he said. "Then, when everyone is full and doesn't care, he brings out the less expensive wines. But you have kept the best until now!"

This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was Jesus' first display of his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

After the wedding he went to Capernaum for a few days with his mother, his brothers, and his disciples.
How has Christ been unpredictable in your life?

Jesus was on a mission to save the world, the greatest mission in the history of mankind.

Yet he took time to attend a wedding and take part in its festivities.  Jesus valued these wedding festivities because they involved people, and Jesus came to be with people.

Our mission can often be accomplished in joyous times of celebration with others.  Bring balance to your life by bringing Jesus into times of pleasure and play as well as times of school and work.

A Baker

A very timely scripture posting.  Today the family start gathering as our eldest boy is married on Saturday. Yes , Etta Sue , Jesus shared our joys as well as our sorrows. Is'nt it wonderful to know that our God became flesh. Praise Him today and forever.

                                                                                      John.

A middle of the night phone call concerning son in hospital, it is really chilly in the house at 65 degrees, so, I shut the windows.

Etta Sue:  Yes, a balance of life.  Thank you for today's devotion.

Good morning all.

I think I caught Janet's sleeping (or lack thereof) disease.  I musta woke up 2 - 4 times every hour until about 4 this morning.  Yuck.  I'm awake now, but feel like I am walking through mud.

Hope ya'll have a good day today.  I've got a busy one planned

Papa John

Good morning Etta Sue, A Baker, Carol, and Karmat.

The miracles of Jesus make a great subject for study.  He is the Son of God and he came with power.  The miracles confirm his message and who He is.

John 20:30-31
30   Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.
31   But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
(NIV)

Papa John          <;D)))><<

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Thank you for the devotional this morning Etta Sue, you always pick the best devotionals from your book

Church last night was fantastic. There were many who got their  special touch from the Lord and others who received a message from God especially for that person. The evangilist didn't have his own agenda for the evening he just let God do his own thing. There were only a couple of new people there but some of those who came hadn't been to church in quite awhile. There was a young girl int he back that was dancing and the evangelest called her to the front and her mother said she didn't even know that her daughter was there, she had been to cheer leading practice and just came to church after practice. Her mother was very surprised.
Janet you would have loved it had you been there.

Well I will be out of here next weekend. The electric and gas company is due to come to shut the power off the 26th. So they can take down the power poles by the driveway here. and tear up the street for some reason.

Must get ready for work now.

Thanks!

John, it's always so nice to see you popping in and posting.  How's the weather over there in Scotland?  I hope that you get some nice photos of the wedding on Saturday!

So, it won't be long now till you're in your new home, Marilyn!   That's just wonderful!

Sorry  you didn't sleep well, Karma.  Neither did I!   ???  Finally I got up at 5:30 and stayed up.

Papa John, How's your eye?  Does it still feel as if there's sand in it?

QuoteThe miracles of Jesus make a great subject for study.  He is the Son of God and he came with power.  The miracles confirm his message and who He is.

This is so very true.  Thanks for sharing with us.

Carol, I do pray that your son is alright.  It's not nice to get these middle of the night phone calls.  As for the weather, it was kind of chilly here this morning but it's warmed up now.  Autumn is coming!

Well, I have lots to do today.  Might have to go to Orangeville and pick up a hard drive for my laptop.

Talk to you all later.

Well, Girl Potato and Boy Potato had eyes for each other, and finally they got married, and had a little sweet potato, which they called 'Yam.' Of course, they wanted the best for Yam.

When it was time, they told her about the facts of life. They warned her about going out and getting half-baked, so she wouldn't get accidentally mashed, and get a bad name for herself like 'Hot Potato,' and end up with a bunch of Tater Tots. Yam said not to worry, no Spud would get her into the sack and make a rotten potato out of her! But on the other hand she wouldn't stay home and become a Couch Potato either.

She would get plenty of exercise so as not to be skinny like her Shoestring cousins.

When she went off to Europe, Mr. and Mrs. Potato told Yam to watch out for the hard-boiled guys from Ireland. And the greasy guys from France called the French Fries. And when she went out west, to watch out for the Indians so she wouldn't get scalloped.

Yam said she would stay on the straight and narrow and wouldn't associate with those high class Yukon Golds, or the ones from the other side of the tracks who advertise their trade on all the trucks that say, 'Frito Lay.'

Mr. and Mrs. Potato sent Yam to Idaho P.U. (that's Potato University) so that when she graduated she'd really be in the Chips. But in spite of all they did for her, one-day Yam came home and announced she was going to marry Tom Brokaw.

Tom Brokaw! Mr. and Mrs. Potato were very upset. They told Yam she couldn't possibly marry Tom Brokaw because he's

Here's a poem by Hewitt that has meant a lot to me in the last few days.

ALL THIS FOR ME

My Saviour, oh what glories shine
Through all Thy life of love divine!
What wondrous grace and sympathy:
All this for me!  All this for me:

Thy vigils 'neath the lowly shade,
Despised, rejected, scorned, betrayed,
Thy sorrows in Gethsemane:
All this for me:  All this for me!

The thorns that pierced Thy sacred brow,
The blood that saves so freely now;
Oh, wondrous Cross of Calvary!
All this for me!  All this for me!

The riches of Thy peace and love,
The treasures of Thy home above,
Grace everlasting, full and free:
All this for me!  All this for me!

O blessed Saviour, may I be
A living sacrifice to Thee;
Both now and in eternity;
Yes, all for Thee!  Yes, all for Thee!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Happy to say after a rough start of the evening, around 10 pm I finally was able to get to sleep and then at 1 am took a couple Tynenol and slept through till morning.  The pain is much better and I am able to get up and down from the bed without as much pain.  Pat took me up to the Cafe for coffee this morning and one of the guys brought me home.  I was tired when I got home and laid down and rested for about 3 hours.

Not feeling real great this afternoon but am going to rest when I finish typing.  We have been invited over to a friends house to share his birthday with some cake and ice cream.  Sure we won't stay too long.

My son took my laptop in to CompUSA today and it has to be sent off for repair as there is something wrong with the screen.  They didn't send the HD so I won't lose what I have on it.  They said it will take two weeks before I will get it back.  The one year warranty was up in August so this is being repaired with the extended warranty.

Carol, I hope your son is better today.

Pat, glad you found the battery.  You put it in a very logical place since it would be available if you traveled.

Etta Sue thanks for the devotional.

Time for some rest.

Janet

I'm just breezing through to say hello.  We are still working HARD on Beth's place.  We can finally tell we are making progress, thank God.

My gals didn't come to paint today, the one who drives the others is sick.  So that means I can (or have to) work on Beth's all afternoon, too.  :-\

Beth called at noon.  She is not doing well at all.  She wondered if maybe she could go to a rehab place for a couple of weeks after she gets home.  I told her we have to get the doctor to order it.  She has fallen, couldn't get up, and it was really hard for John to get her up.

Gotta go!

John ~ I just love weddings and I always think of Jesus turning the water to wine.  I am sure your son's wedding will be wonderful.

Carol ~ How is your son?  Nothing serious, I hope.  I am cold sitting here and I thought it was cold outside but it is 79° out and 71° in.

Karma ~ I didn't shut my light off until after 1 a.m. this morning and slept like Kristi...a baby.  The girls didn't wake me up until after 9 a.m.  Hope you get some good sleep tonight.  Mommies can't run without sleep.

Papa John ~ We see miracles of God every day but we take them for granted.  Like penguins and their navigational skills...how can you NOT believe there is a God that created all things?

Marilyn ~ I know you will be so happy to get into your new home...but aren't your old landlords pushing you out fast by wanting to turn off the electric and gas?  I hope with all they are doing where you are right now, it will be an improvement soon.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SARAH!!!

Pat ~ Does that mean your hard drive in your laptop gave out?  My, when it rains, it pours!  Wasn't Jerry's laptop like yours?  I wonder what happened to it?  I know he couldn't even get it to turn on the last I heard.

JudyB ~ You got me!  I have read that about the potato before but forgot the punch line.  Really funny!

Larry ~ Do take it easy...take lessons from Papa John...he knows how to take it easy.  Well..... I think I could give you some lessons also.

Janet, Janet, Janet ~ What a worry for you with Beth not being well and way up in New York.  But I am so glad that John and her have had this time together.  I know it is easy for me to say, but slow down...don't work too hard but I also know you want Beth's place all done when she returns.  She will be so happy to see her 'new' place, she may think she is still on vacation.

Not much to do today.  Just thinking of ideas to present to my classmates for our 50th Anniversary in 5 years.  Got some ideas from my older sister and brother.  One advantage of being the youngest.

Thanks to all of you who commented about the devotional and the quote.

Hey Pat....Just got my toll charge for using the 407 around Toronto on Aug 12.  Was wondering how they would find out who I was.  $10.21 - I guess it's OK considering there was an accident and traffic was stopped just west of Toronto.

Just dropping by to say hello.
Diner will be chicken soup and dumplings.
Earlier today I put all the ingredients together for Chili Sauce and now after leaving it sit I will be doing the finishing touches - before putting in mason jars. One more of my garden jobs finished.

Fast Eddie:  I thought it was only us in Canada that had to pay the toll on 407 but I guess I was wrong.

Larry:  I hope that you get the needed rest and feel back to normal tomorrow.

Janet:  Once a mother always a mother. I will be remembering you in prayer.  About Beth wanting rehab for a couple of weeks when she gets home would it be possible for you to call her Dr. and have it in place when Beth returns home or better still could she call her Dr. and make  arrangements over the phone.

Sarah:  Happy Birthday.

Papa John:  Is your eye feeling better today?

Ruth, that is a great idea!  And I might have thought of it myself if I weren't so tired and stressed. :(  Right now, almost every part of me is aching.  A hot shower is next on my agenda, I believe.

We got all the floors replaced where they were rotted out, laid 1/4" oak sheets (4' x 8') filled the cracks, and have it ready for the new lineoleum that will be installed.  It is smelling a lot better in there.  But I still have SO much cleaning to do, and more stuff to go through and weed out.

When I come back to my house, I start seeing stuff I need to get rid of too, so we might be living a much "simpler" life soon, too.  Boy, when you get in the "get rid of it!" mood, it carries over into other areas!!  ;) ;D

I'm supposed to go to a Bible study tonight, but don't know if I have the energy for it.  :-\

Happy Birthday Sarah

Marilyn, it is good that you have somewhere to move to, but to have them push you out in such a fashion just does not seem right.

Pat, I hope you don't have to get a new hard drive....cost upon cost......

Janet, I hope that you manage to get everything done without wearing yourself down too much!  You are too nice a person for that to happen.

Only one more day before two off....and I am so looking forward to it!

Marilyn

They arent's pushing me out . They just want to get the work going on this property and I am in the way opf progress. The landlord was just making sure that I was going when I said I would and after I gave him the date I would be moving then he told me when the  Power company woud be coming to do their work. sorry If I didn't make it very clear the first time around.

I have spent about an hour ont he phone getting all the necessities transferred to the other house giving them the dates to do the turn offs here and the turn on dates for the new place. I will be offline from the only temporarily until I get the computer set up at thenew place the cable will be turned on on the 23rd I will move in the 24th.

Going to the Revival again tonight so will get on with what needs to be done before I go.

Hi, friends,

I'm back - the absence was too long, but I had computer problems, and couldn't get online until my backups were done. With logistics being what they are around here, it's been almost impossible for me to get anywhere to get CDs, and my son had temporarily misplaced his.

Then, on top of everything else, a medical test ended up with me being so hoarse (think whisper-croak-crack) that I couldn't speak loud enough to be heard for several days.

At any rate, it will take awhile for me to go back and catch up on matters.

Y'all take care.

Thak you, Sue, for your kind words.  I wish I could meet you and your mother Ruth; I know you are both such nice people, too.

I went to the Bible study and am glad I did.  JoLynn (pastor's wife) is so much fun and so creative, she makes everything fun.  We started off by her giving each of us a card with the first several lines of a song written on it.  We weren't to show it to anyone.  Then we went to stand by the walls, and when she said "go" we were all to sing the song as loud as we could; while walking around looking for two other people singing the same song. (Ours was "You Ain't Nothing but a Hound Dog.)  ;D  These three people were then a team.

Each team went into a separate room, JoLynn handed us a bag with supplies to create a fashion gown.  The supplies were three rolls of toilet tissue and a roll of Scotch tape!  And we were to write a description to be read as our model modeled the dress we had made.  It was so much fun, and some were quite creative, too!

After that (it took only about 15 minutes) we started the study of the book "The True Measure of a Woman" by Lisa Bevere.  I think it's going to be a great study!

I'm tired out, and headed to bed.  See you when the sun comes up again---or, sometime after that happens.  Karma, I hope you get a wonderful night of sleep tonight!

Carol

Our oldest son is still in hospital but things are looking much better.  His blood count did drop to 26 and I think the number should be 45, am not sure about that.  He lost a lot of blood after a colonoscopy last week.  He was eating this afternoon and talked much stronger, even got out of bed.  He doesn't want us to come as I am sure he is more worried about us than him so we defer to their recommendations.  So, we had a good friend decide to bring dinner over to us and chat on the patio.  It was so relaxing and nice.  I am going to miss her when she moves to North Carolina.  I give thanks for all of you on CP who have been so kind.  Nothing worries a person more than a health reason for a chilld.  I am sure that Janet understands this very well.

Pat:  Thanks for your concern as well.  I thought I was handling this very well and the news from the hospital kept getting worse and worse until finally there was a ray of sunshine in the news.

Larry:  I am glad that you were able to get some sleep.  How nice that you were at the coffee.  We need our friends, don't we?

Janet:  So sorry to hear that Beth has fallen.  I pray for her and the family often and I am sure that she is many CP member prayers.  She is one true child of God.  It is good that you have the strength and stamina to do all that you can do and I do wish Beth a wonderful time out east.

Etta Sue:  Thank you as well for your concern of our son.  I was in a daze this morning and tense from the news of his being admitted to emergency yesterday and things going so wrong for so many hours.  So tired but this afternoon kept busy shortening two pairs of pants for Don and other things to keep my mind off things.  And, when the phone rang, I just jumped every time.  We are much more relaxed now and perhaps can sleep throughout the night.

Fast Eddie:  That sounds like a very expensive toll road.  We have one such in the Denver area and always tell people to never use it - it must be so discouraging for visitors to our area.

Marilyn:  i am thinking good thoughts for you.

Carol
