Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

  • Prayer and Praise     Thanks for visiting this area of our site to share prayer requests and items for praise!

Morning Devotional...

I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.
Psalm 69:30-31

To "please the Lord better" should be our constant aim. Opportunities to do so are always at hand! We ought not to delay, imagining that some day some special circumstance will make it possible to "please Him better."

Today, sincere praise and thanksgiving will delight His ear, even more than other offerings which, to the natural mind, appear so impressive and costly.

"Whoso offereth praise glorifieth Me" (Ps. 50:23).
--G. Hall

Praise the Saviour, ye who know Him,
Who can tell how much we owe Him?
Gladly let us render to Him, all we are and have.

Praise the Saviour, Ye Who Know Him
(Click to hear music)

We thank Thee,
and praise Thy glorious Name.
1 Chronicles 29:13

Words: Thomas Kelly
Music: Acclaim, traditional German melody

Praise the Savior, ye who know Him!
Who can tell how much we owe Him?
Gladly let us render to Him
All we are and have.

Jesus is the Name that charms us,
He for conflict fits and arms us;
Nothing moves and nothing harms us
While we trust in Him.

Trust in Him, ye saints, forever,
He is faithful, changing never;
Neither force nor guile can sever
Those He loves from Him.

Keep us, Lord, O keep us cleaving
To Thyself, and still believing,
Till the hour of receiving
Promised joys with Thee.

Then we shall be where we would be,
Then we shall be what we should be,
Things that are not now, nor could be,
Soon shall be our own.

Good Morning Everyone!

Dreary day here in Guelph but I'm going to go out and see if I can take some early autumn photos.

What are your plans for the day?

Good Morning: Thank you for the devotional Pat. and AMEN to God always watching over us.

I am sorry that I don't have much time to really write something profound this morning. I have been busy getting some gift bags ready  and putting my business labels on the literature. I am taking a few bags with me to Tai Chi as there are a couple of people there who really need the product and I want them to give it a try.

Then I will be going to work and possibly taking Ruth and her DIL to the Senior Center in Arcata for lunch.

Does your area have Pampered Chef parties?  I went to their website and was very upset when before I could view their products, I had to click United States and then click English or Espanol!  No wonder some are pushing for a two language country...we are allowing it to be done!!  :clobber:  :idiot:  And most restaurants and businesses around here have signs in English and Spanish....grrrrr!  That is new here in the last year!

Euchere Club went very well.  Everyone loved the chili but the cherry brownies were the pits.  No, not cherry pits but they didn't turn out right.  I baked them 15 minutes longer than the box said but they were still raw and soggy and wet.  I am going to try one after microwaving it and if that doesn't work, they are going in the garbage.

Now for my trip to I.U. in Bloomington.  That's today so I won't be back until around 9 tonight but I will be back....as Arnold says....

Good morning!  Oops!  :-[ I should have said Good afternoon!

After my workout, I stopped by to see Beth, and she wanted me to go buy a gift for her friend there in the Home who had a birthday yesterday.  She was at the Home Products Dinner last night, and the whole crowd sang Happy Birthday to her.  It was so sweet...and Gloria cried.  Anyhow, hope my errands are done for a while.

The dinner last night was a lot of fun, and my friend Pat went with Beth and me, then my sister joined us there.

Larry, you and Pat have a wonderful trip!  I'm happy you got your internet problems solved, and hope they continue to work well.

Etta Sue, did you make the cherry brownies (sounds good) from scratch, or did you use a mix?  Strange that they stayed all soggy.  Let us know what you figure out on that.  Will you please come over and get my house all company ready, now that Euchere is over?  ;)

Pat, sounds as if you have lots of meetings to attend lately!  Well, I have something most nights this week myself.  Sometimes I don't mind, but lots of times I would prefer to just stay at home.

Ruth, good to see you!  It's really cooled off here, too, and we have been keeping the bedroom window open.

I slept so well last night!  First words out of my mouth when I woke up were "Thank you, Lord, for a good night's sleep!"  And I mean it sincerely.

Maybe I should see what there is to eat for lunch.  Later!

Hi,

It's been fairly chilly here in the mornings.  Very comfortable.  It makes Jazz a lot more eager for exercise, meaning longer walks, more throws of his frisbee, ball-on-a-rope, and anything else that can be tossed and retrieved.  No, not the stray kitty!  Those cling to the arm, and once released are almost always irretrievable.

Struggles.  We go through them.  Or around them.  Or hide from them.  It amazes me that Paul looked at them as opportunities to share the gospel.  I want to have his kind of attitude.  Then behave as he did.

Kevin

Pray diligently. Stay alert, with your eyes wide open in gratitude.  Don't forget to pray for us, that God will open doors for telling the mystery of Christ, even while I'm locked up in this jail. Pray that every time I open my mouth I'll be able to make Christ plain as day to them.

Hi everyone.  I don't know where the hours have gone today and here it is after 8 pm.  I did some update work on my family reunion website and then printed out all the pages on legal size paper and will put them in a binder to take to the Reunion.  I am sure there are many family members who never bothered to look at the website and there is some really interesting information and photos on the site, including life stories from a number of the first cousins.

This morning after coffee I went to the computer center learning center and coached a one-day class on Windows Media Player.  It was an interesting class.

This evening I put together some business cards and a number of other little jobs.  I have a whole list of things I need to accomplish before we leave for our trip on Saturday morning.

It as a most beautiful day that God gave us today and I am very thankful for it.

Janet, it is nice that Beth has made a friend in the care home to whom she wants to give a BD gift.

Etta Sue, hope you have had a good trip today and hope the microwaving saved your brownies.

Kevin, your scripture verse and comments regarding it are so appropriate.  Thanks for sharing them.

Marilyn, hope your gift begs generate success for you.

Pat, hope your photos for autumn turned out well today and thanks for the devotional.

I better move on for this evening as need to make some rental car reservations in Kansas City and Denver.  I already have the airplane tickets purchased.

Marilyn

Thought you all might enjoy what someone sent me today:

The park bench was deserted as I sat down to read
Beneath the weeping branches of an old willow tree,
Disillusioned by life with good reason to frown,
For the world was intent on dragging me down.

And as if to ruin my rare quiet day,
A young boy approached me, all tired from play.
He stood right before me with his head tilted down
And said with excitement, "Look what I found!"

In his hand was a flower, and what a pitiful sight,
With its petals all faded, from no rain or light.
Wanting him to take his dead flower and go play,
I faked a small smile and then shifted away.

But instead of retreating he sat by my side
And sniffed at the flower and declared with surprise,
"It sure smells pretty and it's beautiful, too.
That's why I picked it; here, it's for you."

The poor weed before me was dying or dead,
No bright vibrant colors, no yellow or red.
But I knew I must take it, or he might never leave.
So I reached out my hand and said, "Just what I need."

But instead of him placing the flower in my hand,
He held it mid-air without reason or plan.
It was then that I noticed for the very first time
That weed-toting boy could not see, he was blind.

I heard my voice quiver, tears shone like the sun
As I thanked him for picking the very best one.
"You're welcome," he smiled, and then ran off to play,
Unaware of the impact he'd had on my day.

I sat there and wondered how he managed to see
A self-pitying woman beneath an old tree.
How did he know of my self-indulged plight?
Perhaps in his heart, he'd been blessed with true sight.

Through the eyes of a blind child, at last I could see
The problem was not with the world, it was me.
And for all of those times I myself had been blind
I vowed to see beauty, and appreciate what 's mine.

I held that wilted flower up to my nose
And breathed in the fragrance of a beautiful rose,
And smiled as the boy, another weed in his hand,
Went to change the life of an unsuspecting old man.

We had a very interesting discussion in church tonight concerning the developments these past few days at the UN and how they fit into the end times prophecies.  Goodness, our time is getting short!  :o

I worked HARD (puff, pant) today.  I decided it is time to clean my entire studio, to be really ruthless and get rid of STUFF.  I made lots and lots of trips up and down the stairs, and I'm tired.....

Larry, your reunion book sounds wonderful.  I wish I knew how to do all that stuff, but am happy a cousin in California is working on our Dixon family geneaology.  She tells me she has filing cabinets full of material, and sends out a nice newsletter once a quarter.

See y'all tomorrow! :)

;D Good evening to all.  It has been a long time since I have been on this site and I apoligize.  So many things have happened since then.

First could you please contiue to pray for my wife as not much has changed since I was on site.  She continues to have lots of pain and also has to take much meds just to get through a day but you cannot keep her down.  She is a wonderful witness to me as she never says anything against the Lord and gives him the Glory for each day.

I have had  some things happen to me and I had a bad reaction to a drug that I was given to help my syatic nerve and I collapsed on the floor at home one night and ended up in the hospital overnight, and to top it all of my wife was away in Virginia at her sisters.  But the Lord is so good and we had a student staying with us and he was able to call 911.  Then a few weeks later I lost my job but again the Lord is in control and he always knows what he is doing and for now I guess I am retired.

My wifes sister has given us a gift of a cruise and we go on the 17th. of October to the Bahamas for 11 days so we are very excited and we never know what a day will bring in our lives so may the Lord Richly bless you all in the rest of this week.

Hello and thanks for the devotional very uplifting.

Etta Sue:   Yes we have Pampered Chef in our area and I really do enjoy the product.  In the past I thought cooking with stone was strange,  but now I use it as much as possible not only do I use the stones but I use many of the other products as well.  When it comes to the language selection yes it does bother me but it is something that we must learn to live with.  When in public places if the situation presents itself I will say that in Canada we speak English or French.

This evening we went to a local auction some times we look at the stuff and come home other times we will stay and tonight was one of the times we stayed. We spent a big total of 6 dollars two of which was for some dinner plates that match the ones I already have.

Marilyn: Keep working on your business.
