Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Let brotherly love continue.
Hebrews 13:1

There in no greater testimony to a perishing world than believers showing love to one another. The Lord Jesus says it is the mark of true discipleship for "by this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another" (Jn. 13:35).

Love is expressed in action, so "let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and truth" (1 Jn. 3:18). This presents a great challenge!

Is your love for the believers so evident to the unbelievers around you that they desire to find its source?
--Jim Paul

Channels Only
(Click to hear music)

If a man therefore purge himself from these,
he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified,
and meet for the master's use,
and prepared unto every good work.

II Timothy 2:21

Author:  Mary E. Maxwell, 20th Century
Musician:  Ada Rose Gibbs, 1865-1905

How I praise Thee, precious Saviour,
That Thy love laid hold of me;
Thou hast saved and cleansed and filled me
That I might Thy channel be.

Refrain:
Channels only, blessed Master,
But with all Thy wondrous pow'r
Flowing thro' us, Thou canst use us
Ev'ry day and ev'ry hour.

Just a channel, full of blessing
To the thirsty hearts around;
To tell out Thy full salvation,
All Thy loving message sound.

Emptied that Thou shouldest fill me,
A clean vessel in Thy hand;
With no pow'r but as Thou givest
Graciously with each command.

Witnessing Thy pow'r to save me,
Setting free from self and sin;
Thou who boughtest to possess me,
In Thy fullness, Lord, come in.

Jesus, fill now with Thy Spirit
Hearts that full surrender know;
That the streams of living water
From our inner man may flow.

Morning all,

Guess I'm the first today. Still tired from our trip, got everything unpacked and put away. Michael's pt came yesterday and saw the stuffed animals on his bed and wanted to know how Michael slept with so many. LOL He loves to have them with him.

Finally got all the pictures into the computer and now will work on organizing and putting them in some sort of order. I will put some up soon.

Everyone have a great day in the Lord and thanks for the prayers! <3

Blessings,
<><Jeannine

Pat ~ Thank you for the Word today.  If everyone loved one another there would be no war, no murders, no unkind words, no back stabbing.  Also thanks for the report on the McKeena's.

Well, it happened!  I had to turn on the furnace this morning.  It got down to 40° F last night.  There was quite a chill in the house when I got up.  The bed felt so warm and cozy.  But when I moved the thermostat setting from Off to On, I heard a clicking and could hear the furnace fire up in the basement.  I also have my electric fireplace on....and the solar heat when the sun gets past the tree in my back yard.  So Fall is officially here at my house!!

Another day of 'I don't know what to do' day.  I could organize and pitch things like Janet.  But I tend to do that along the way...you had to when you lived in a mobile home for 38 years..the habit sticks.  I maybe need to find some yarn and crochet some warm house slippers...that's an idea.

Good Morning Pat , Etta Sue, Rob, and Jeanine. Well I am here early too.  It is 6 AM on the Lost Coast. The today show is just coming on. Gotta catch the news before I start my day.

Larry if you look in I hope you are having the time of your life visiting with family.

Pat it is good o hear some good news re Judy and Norm.

Janet I am still wait for you to come help me organize,  ;D I am getting it done little by little, Tuesday I took two more big bags of stuff to the Rescue Mission Thrift Store.

Today is payday for me from Ruth that will go into the bank to pay on Visa, I am supposed to get my car back today and have to put that on my Visa. It is going to be real close to $1,000 worth of repairs. After  they put in the computer  they found that one of the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. Gilbert has been so patient about  me having his car. He  thinks he  has it sold and here I am  hanging up the sale. The person keeps on calling him and asking what's up with the car all he can tell them is that I still have it.

I got some great news from Gilbert, Savannah is taking Violin lessons. I played the Violin all through high school  and was second chair in the All City Orchestra. So did  her other Grandma and Sarah too. My daughter Carole also plays the violin.

I am getting some awesome results from the products I am using. I have been pain free ever since I drank it the first time two weeks ago. My range of motion in my neck has returned and my lower back doesn hurt either, I am able to kick higher and stay balanced inTai Chi . Praise the Lord. I am rembering Names a lot faster when I meet new people at church. I was really amazed at that, it usually takes me a few weeks to remember and greet new people by their names.

It was good to see Judy smiling.  She was just waiting to have a hairdresser come in and set her hair.  She'll feel better after that too.

Good morning all.

Marilyn, we were up at the same time.  I've been getting up at 6 am lately.  I fix coffee, sit in my chair, both dogs come to sit in my lap, then when the coffee is done, we all get up.  I fix coffee, come back to my chair, and both dogs jump up to continue our routine. :)  We make room for both of them.  When I pick up my Bible, they make accomodations for my arms and page turning.  My family. lol

I've been trying to get some cleaning out done too.  If this garage sale doesn't take form pretty soon, I'm taking all my stuff to Hospice or Goodwill, and Sue and Kim can figure out what to do with theirs.  Stuff keeps happening and we can't seem to get a time.  I remember last year I said that was my last one. haha

We're still having get-outdoors days.  This is really strange weather for us.  I was going to do a google and see where the term Indian Summer came from originally.  Anyone know off the top of their head?

Hope you are all having a good day.  I see some are having paydays!!  Yoohoo.  Pay days are always nice.  Mine come on the 3rd of every month. :)

blessings,  Nita

edit: guess we aren't having Indian Summer after all.  It's too early.

Good Morning!  :coffee:

I like the cool winds of Japan's autumn, but my sinuses get stuffy at night from the lovely relative-of-the-flax plant that grows wild here.

This morning I read a little from Paul's second letter to the believers at Thessalonica. Then I sat and chewed on it for a while.  I thought, "I am glad I am on His side!".

All this trouble is a clear sign that God has decided to make you fit for the kingdom. You're suffering now, but justice is on the way. When the Master Jesus appears out of heaven in a blaze of fire with his strong angels, he'll even up the score by settling accounts with those who gave you such a bad time.  His coming will be the break we've been waiting for.

Another busy day for me!  My studio/scrapbooking room is going to be AWESOME!!  My sweet husband and I built three cabinets with sliding shelves today, and put a formica cabinet top on them, and installed them in my room.  I can hardly wait to get things arranged in there!  Yippee!  Maybe I will even start painting more, when the room is more inviting.

Mark and Curt and Toni are coming home for the weekend, because they get Monday off for College Fall Break.  Sure will be good to see them and collect some of those wonderful grandson hugs.  <3

Nita, it sure feels like Indian Summer here, too---but we haven't had a killing frost yet.  These past two days have been glorious!  Crisp, a little cool, and NO WIND!!  Doesn't get better than that!  8)

Etta Sue, I am learning to toss and declutter as I go along, too.  Wish I had learned that long ago.  The older I get, the less I tend to hold tightly to things.  I just wish I knew someone who would be blessed by my giving them a lot of this stuff.  Lots of it is good, I just don't want or need it any more.

I'm going back to my studio to see how I can arrange the tables in there.

Thanks for that Kevin.  I'm so glad to be on the Lord's side as well.

Car repairs are so awful, Marilyn.  Sometimes I wish I didn't have the car but I'd sure be lost without it.

Thanks for that Scripture, Kevin.  It tells me two things (well, really even more than that): first, it tells me that these things that happen to us are not mere happenstance - they don't come by chance.  God either allows them or sends them in order to make us fit for eternity.  There are some who think we're telling them that God actually sends adversity.  Some He does send, some He allows to take their own natural course.  In any and every case, He is in control.  As the hymn says, "Nothing moves and nothing harms us, while we trust in Him."

Secondly, it tells me a verly motivating thing: there's an end to sufferings of every kind - and it's coming.  Hang on!  All will be well!  As Pat said, "My faith has no bed to sleep on but omnipotency."

Etta Sue

Another chilly morning but not as chilly as yesterday morning.  The sun is shining bright right now but it is suppose to rain this afternoon and this evening.  Sunny tomorrow.  That's what my WeatherBug says....not me!

I am doing some laundry and then I need to clean my house some.  Just pick things up.  I did crochet some house slippers yesterday and they are tight on my feet.  Hope they stretch out some.

Lost my too lengthy post - the message was I "timed out" or something on that order.

Yesterday was our anniversary & we went to the gym to exercise first, grabbed our free coffee & read the newspaper, drove about 1/2 hour plus & ate breakfast in the hills at an old lodge and continued on into Rocky Mountain National Park to view the bountiful views of nature.  We returned & decided to go to a movie (rare for us) & can recommend "Flyboys".  WWI pilots.  Then, out for a mexican dinner.

Marilyn:  How nice that Savannah is playing the violin!  Don is thrilled that one grandson is going to play his old silver trumpet.

Pat:  This may be the day of your yearly walk - enjoy taking pictures and visiting!

This has to be a working day - we struggled to get a sewing table downstairs and now need to clean the carpet from the dolly wheel residue.  Uff -

Here it is noon on the West Coast and I have been waiting for more posts before I came in to post.

Right now I have a new very easy recipe for Peanut Butter cookies in the oven, all my housework is done. and it is only 48° outside.

I think I will give Al a call and see if they will be home so I can go visit hem.

Well, here I am ... dragging in.   :-\  I can tell y'all that Fall is not only in the air it's all over the ground--at my place, anyway.  I have just spent 3½ hours raking it up, in fact!  I have decided whatever else FALLS will just have to become mulch for the winter.  I'm tard! And my face is  :-[  I worked an hour longer than I should have.

Janet and Nita, I guess it must be something in the air... I have been sorting and tossing stuff for quite a while now.  When Dot was here, we went through a ton (more or less) of photos, sorting and tossing ... she took a lot of them to share with her girls, and I'll take the rest with me when I go to Sacramento in a couple weeks.  I wrote my grandson that his is the only address I have so if he can't get his brother and sisters together to go through this box of stuff then I'll just leave it at his place and he can figure out what to do with it!  That ought to give him incentive to either get addresses for me or get his siblings together while I'm there.

My high school class is having another mini-reunion--in the Sacramento area--the second week of October and I figured I'd go since I can see family while there and hopefully have a place to stay.  The number of classmates is getting smaller and smaller and I feel I should get around and say hello while they can still hear me.   :-\

I think I'll look around here for something to eat and then head for my trusty recliner and take a break!

See y'all later.....

Janet

Well, howdy there, Jane!  Good to see you!  I hope you have a great time when you go to your reunion/family visiting--and I know you will.

I worked until late last night, and my room looks GOOD!!  Still have lots to do, as I want to clean out every cabinet in there, and there are 5 tall ones and two short ones.  I have already done the racks which hold my painting instruction books (for my students) paints, canvasses, brushes, etc. that are for sale.  Anyway, it feels good to be making headway!  Yippee!!

I'm going to pose a question for all of you to consider.  (And please, no brickbats or rotten tomatoes, okay?  I really want to know your thinking on this.)  Here it is:

If you believe God sends sickness, hardship, or trouble of any kind, then why would you try to get well (go to the doctor, etc) or try to make more money, or sort out the trouble?  Because, if God sent it, wouldn't your trying to change it be going against the will of God?

I hope several of you will give your opinion on this.  I know what I believe, but want to know your thinking.

We have just returned home.  We left early this morning to go to Dodge City for a training meeting with Reliv, then stopped in Hugoton on the way home because the boys were coming home.  Boy, that 'new' house is requiring a ton of work!  They were busy painting, steaming and scraping off wallpaper, cleaning, etc.  I think they might have it ready to move in pretty soon.

See you Sunday!

Janet - I cannot ever say that "God sends..."  Not that I want to quibble about words, but I would rather say that God allows these things.  I know He is absolutely sovereign - nothing happens in heaven or earth that He does not allow or send, for if there were any such thing, then He would not be in control - and He is absolutely in control.  So in my belief He allows Satan or other of His enemies to do wrong things - but all the time with the intention of turning it to bring about His will in the long run.

Additionally, you mention our doing things about our sickness, such as trying to get well, etc.  I do those things because I know God wants me to take care of this body, since it belongs to Him.  He allowed the sickness, but He wants me to use the means He's provided to overcome it.  I'm not thereby "going against the will of God," because He didn't tell me it WAS His will.  He did tell me to take care of myself.  Additionally, I pray for His overcoming grace.

Please note that I didn't say I understood all these things.  The secret things belong to Him - He's God, and I am not.
I know with certainty that He will use all that befalls me for my ultimate good (Rom. 8:28).  For reasons only known to Him, He allows this fallen world to remain a mess until the return of our Lord, at which time all wrongs will indeed be righted.

Marilyn

Janet you have asked a very controversial question.
QuoteIf you believe God sends sickness, hardship, or trouble of any kind, then why would you try to get well (go to the doctor, etc) or try to make more money, or sort out the trouble?  Because, if God sent it, wouldn't your trying to change it be going against the will of God?

I for one  do not believe that God sends  The sickness, troubles, or hardship. I believe that He  allows it to test us or just allows Satan to afflict us.  I also believe that  God has given the Doctors the wisdom, knowledge and understanding to help with the healing. But I also believe that the pharmacueticals that can cause too many side effects and stuff like that , sometimes only mask the problem, or bring relief rather than HEAL.  As far as making more money God wants us to prosper and be in health even as our soul prospers. God is the one who does the Healing. I believe in the power of prayer (Dr. Jesus) as well as in going to the doctor .

Hi Al you posted while I was typing. I see we are on the same page of thinking.

Good responses Al and Marilyn but I'd like to add another ... Many times our "troubles" are the consequences of wrong choices.  God gave us a free will and, if not surrendered to Him and under His control, we can misuse it in all sorts of ways ... and suffer the consequences as a result.  For instance, abusing our bodies and ending up with health problems or misusing/misdirecting our finances and suffering lack because we've gambled away the grocery/rent money .... I could go on but I won't ...  ;)
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Pat

Hi Everyone...

It's been a very rainy day here today.  I spent late, late last evening bringing in a few of my houseplants from the deck.  It was dark and I could hardly see what I was doing but the temperature on the deck was 0 C!!!  That's early for sure.

I must get the lawn cut one more time as well before winter.  Maybe twice.

Janet, yes, this is a question that many might have different answers to.  But I believe as Al and Marilyn have said that God allows sickness.  I never would believe or be of the opinion that He sends it.  Jack used to say that all the time to me as we had our devotionals in the morning and one of his replies when asked by me "why?" was that he alone knew what others were experiencing with the same maladies.  Even I didn't know what it was like to be on dialysis or have strokes or have severe heart failure or lupus but Jack knew and he was able to help so many others down in the unit and in visiting the various hospitals while he was ill.  He could honestly say, "I know what you're experiencing.  I know how you feel."   He told me that I only knew what it was like to be a spouse of someone experiencing these things and so I'd have a ministry someday to help other spouses going through what I went through for so many years caring for him.

He thanked the Lord for allowing this as he always loved to share his love for the Saviour with folks wherever he was.  And I know of at least one patient who accepted Christ as Saviour due to Jack's witnessing.  Praise the Lord.

God has given the talent of being a physician to many and he expects us to look after our bodies and go to these doctors.  I believe that all healing comes from the Great Physician through those he has allowed us to use.
