Morning Devotional...

                                                                                  LET GOD BE GLORIFIED

"And Jesus went forth...moved with compassion...and he healed their sick. And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel."
(Matthew 14:14; 15:30-31)

Religious tradition says that God gets glory when we bear up nobly under the agony of sickness and disease. But that's not what the Bible says. It says God gets glory when the blind see and the lame walk and the maimed are made whole!

In India or Africa where people haven't been taught those kinds of religious traditions, when somebody stands up and announces, "I come to you as a messenger from the most high God," people believe what he has to say. When they hear that Jesus, the King of Kings, shed His blood for them; when they hear that He's sent His messenger to tell them that He'll deliver them from sin and sickness and death today, they get excited. They don't argue with the Word of God. So you know what happens?

People begin to get healed. People start throwing away their crutches and flinging off their bandages!

When we learn to hear the Word of God like that, the same thing will happen to us. God is no respecter of persons. His Word works for everyone. It's how we receive it that makes the difference!

Karen, thank you for that website.  I have registered and will most likely use it frequently!

Larry, I wish an order against gas price gouging here would be issued.  The prices go up and down like a toilet seat.  In the morning going to work on Friday they were $1.35 Cdn and coming home were $1.43 and then when we left to go the trailer just after midnight they had dropped back down to the $1.35.  But the stations swear that they aren't gouging.  I think the profit and loss statements of the gas stations and the oil companies state otherwise............just my opinion of course, and time I got off the soapbox.....

Pat, thanks for posting the link to the  pictures of Mike's new baby son Ryan!

Mieka........HI!

Janet, try this site....  www.freecycle.org and register for your area

Janet, thank you for the Inner Peace piece.

We had an enjoyable weekend at the trailer.  The weather was great, and although the campground was noisy (last weekend to "party" for most  ::) ) I still found it quiet and nice to be away.  Coming home, saw a fox run across the road in front of us.  I have a long week ahead of me, 4 days of 8 hour shifts, so am heading up to bed for the night.

Al Moak

Paul was a thankful apostle of Jesus Christ.  He said, "testifying to Jews and Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.  And now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there, except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me.  But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus to testify to the Gospel of the grace of God." Paul was thankful, yet he was also fully persuaded that he would be facing tribulations!  Oh that I might be so concerned to testify about repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord!  Today!

Good Morning. Thank Janet for the devotional today.
QuoteReligious tradition says that God gets glory when we bear up nobly under the agony of sickness and disease. But that's not what the Bible says. It says God gets glory when the blind see and the lame walk and the maimed are made whole!
If only more people in this and some other countries would come to this realization and truly believe what the Bible says is the truth. These things did not stop way back when but are still taking place today; for those who believe it will happen.

This area is sending people to the south to help. Sarah's father workds for the Mobile Medical team and they are getting one of their vehicles stocked with supplies and ready to go. John (Sarah's Dad) had to work yesterday loading the vehicle with supplies. We don't know yet if he is going but they have asked for volunteer to with them. Some of our Coast guard have already gone and some of the EMT's have already gone.

Thank you for that suggestion, Sue.  I looked, and  the nearest groups are at least 60 miles away, and with gas prices the way they are......I wonder if I could start a group in my town?

We slept late today, so I'm behind to begin the day.  I wish I could sleep at night, instead of being awake for hours.  Sigh.........

Here is a grin for you today:

THE CRUISE SHIP my friend was working on docked at a Mexican port during a very high tide. Everyone on board was forced to use the ship's narrow gangplank as a passageway to the dock far below.
The staff stood motionless when a passenger in her 70s appeared at the top of the plank. There wasn't room for anyone to assist her, so she edged along slowly and finally made it to the dock safely, to everyone's relief. As she stepped down, she turned, looked back at the top of the plank and shouted, "It's okay, Mother, you can come down now."

It looks as though we have a slow day, First day of the work week and here in Ontario it is the first day of a new school year.   Everything went well for me this morning but most children were driven and then over the next 2 wks the JK & SK will be gradually introduced to the system.

Hopefully I will get some of my veggies done and ready for the freezer before I leave this afternoon.

Nita ~ I am sorry but it was Jane that said there would be no mail yesterday.  But I wish I could send two slices of Zucchini Bread to you and you could take one to Jane and visit with each other.

Pat ~ This time the wiener roast was mostly Kaye Don's family, Ivalou and I.  Tony and Charlene did come on their cycle.  And some friends of Kaye Don and Barb came back at almost dark.  We had a nice fire and roasted wieners and brats and sausages.  Also had potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans, cole slaw, pie, Caramel Squares, Chocolate Cake, Brownies, Zucchini Bread plus chips and dip and salsa.  We each took our own meat, buns, drinks and a dish to share.  Lots of fun!!  But when it gets dark, it gets dark fast.  The woods is so dense you can't see your hand in front of your face when it gets dark.

Marilyn ~ What is 'Bbqed tri tip potato salad'?  I can usually figure out your typing but this time, I don't have a clue!  I see Janet asked also.  Okay, now I see it is BBQ ed tri tip AND potato salad.  Now what is BBQed tri tip?

Janet ~ I liked your 'Symptoms of Inner Peace'.  Great!!  Sounds like you need to take Tuesday as a day of rest after your laboring Labor Day.

Jane ~ Hi, there.  I know how you feel about your granddaughters.  My husband's  five kids lived in the San Fernando Valley and about everytime we tried to call one of them, the phone was disconnected.  Finally we told them if they wanted to talk to us to call us.  Our phone had never been disconnected and it was the same number all the time.  I still hear from one daughter by email, Instant Message and telephone.  One out of five isn't too bad.  And I can't believe Autumn Rose will be in kindergarten!!!  Do you have any recent pictures?  Hope you will post her school picture when she gets them done and you get one.

Sue ~ It was told on our TV that the prices of gas will go down....sure Labor Day weekend is over.  But they say it is because there won't be as many people on the road so the demand for gas will not be so much.  AAA said a lot of people stayed home for the weekend instead of traveling...I know I did!

Al ~ We all need the obedience of Paul.  He knew he would be tried for his beliefs but didn't turn away from spreading the Word about God.

Ruth ~ Yes, definitely all the schools here are in session now.  Some started two weeks ago, some a week ago and some today.  I remember riding the bus to school.  Sad to see half-empty buses going to high school now.  With the prices of gas, you would think those kids could ride the bus instead of driving their shiny cars to school.

I mentioned yesterday about Tony's SIL in a submarine.  Here is the write up in the
Indianapolis Star.    Charlene's email today said,
Quote'Audrey's husband Vince Shuff was one of the 125 crew members on the sub.  He called Audrey yesterday and was doing well and told some of the story.  He was thrown from his bunk while asleep and the men were tossed about.  The look on everyones face he will never forget he said........THEY KNEW IT WAS NOT A DRILL !..............  They were all to go to the back of the sub. make the sinking nose go back up and they made it to shore............
Vince is a changed man Audrey said, she could tell by his voice.  Life altering experience.  We are blessed all are well !'
Audrey is Charlene's daughter.

Not much going on today.  I have a couple of loads of laundry on the line.  Will have to fold them when they are dry.  Other than that I will do.....................

Etta sue I am happy Vince has had a life changing experience.  I pray it is a change toward God.

Janet I too have passed on the symptoms of inner peace.  They are very good.

I "recycled" about 10 garbage bags of used clothing.  I hate having a mountain of laundry so I got rid of all the clothes the girls didn't like or were too small.  They are down to about a weeks worth of clothes, this way too there is enough drawer space.

The girls are off to school.  The house is so quiet I need to turn some prase music on.  We sang a new song in church on Sunday, it speaks of the soverignity of God.  We need to remember that God IS soverign as we face the trials of the day.

Janey I will be praying for you, that you sleep and actually wake up rested.

By all till later
Judy

Nope, Etta Sue, This is another part of the family I neither hear from nor see.   :-\  The last photo I received of Autumn was taken when her baby brother was 3 weeks old ... The photo was made in November and I didn't get it until March when "Grandma Dot" remembered to send it to me.  I have also tried calling Candice (Dot's daughter) a few times and either get the disconnect message or voice mail and when I leave a message it is never returned.

I have decided that, since I do have an address for Laura, I will try writing letters to her and Tricia.  I know they hang out together a lot, so this will at least let them know I have tried.  When Joy and I had lunch with Tricia and Laura, while in Sacramento, Laura told us she stays away from home as much as possible, only going home on Saturdays so she can go to church with her Dad and then off she goes again.  Tricia has been out of the home since she turned 18, and Laura is just biding her time until her 18th birthday next month.   :-\

Actually, I have no contact with any of my grandkids any more ... only when I call Dot (she still has two girls at home) or Joy (she usually has some word about Bryan even if he doesn't have a phone).   Oh well, I'm only the grandma and they all have busy lives of their own ... Such is life.

Thanks for thinking of sending me mail!  The comment was because there is no mail delivery on Labor Day.  I usually get all the mail I need or want ... sometimes, when it's about the IRS, it's more than I want!!
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hi everyone.  I am fine but have been very busy and really got behind.  I will be brief today.  I have quickly read through the last 2 days of postings but will not try to make many comments.  I am saddened to read of the sad news concerning Liz's family.  Last week was one with some bad health news for some of our friends and also for our new great grandson.  He had to be hospitalized with viral meningitis but I think he is ok now.  They got him to the hospital quickly and finally started treating with antibiotics.  He now has thrush in his mouth so they are treating that.  It was caused by the antibiotics.

Pat had a very rough weekend but got up feeling better today.  We are awaiting friends coming over and after the ladies do some work on a quilt project they are getting underway to help in the relief effort we will go out to eat.

Tomorrow I am taking my car into Saturn to see if they can find the problem that makes it unreliable in starting.  I took my Buick to the brake man today as thought I might need new brakes but they checked it and the brakes are fine.  Good news.

Janet, hope you are getting your new computer setup.

Talk with you all tomorrow.

Pat

Hello Everyone...

This has been a day of many errands, Avon order, company and hardly any time at the computer.

It's quiet outside today being the first day back to school.  I really noticed the lack of children's squealing on the street.

Etta Sue Tri Tip is a particularly tender cut of beef. You can get it in a roast which is how they bbq'ed it yesterday then sliced it about 1/4 inch thick. I forget which part of the cow it is from. But it is very tender and delicious.

I real am a good speller but sometimes I get going so fast and forget to use the spell check.

I think it might be Pat, but I'm not really sure.

Pat, here is the link that Karen posted.   http://www.gasbuddy.com/

I had a surprise when I got to work this morning and looked at the schedule.  I have another full week next week.  I know I'm going to be tired, but I am really thankful for the extra hours!

I had a slow leak in my car tire and stopped on my way home this evening to get it fixed and was given another gift.  It only cost me $15 to have it fixed.

Now, I must go, fix dinner and call my mother!

Janet

I have never heard of tri tip cut before.  Oh, well........good, tender beef is good eatin' any time.

Larry, yes, I have the new computer all set up and am back in business.  I surely hate losing my entire address book, though. :-\  Plus lots of other stuff.....but I guess that's life.  At least I have a roof over my head, and my house is not full of toxic waste water!  So I am very thankful.

I worked too hard again today.  We discovered the floor is falling out of most of Beth's trailer.  The bathroom is especially bad.  I think we will gut the thing (bathroom) put in a whole new floor, build in a shower, get rid of the tub, take out a partial wall, and see if we can make it easier for her to use.  Always something.  I am being ruthless in throwing away stuff!  She told me I can get rid of whatever I want, so I don't have to weigh each decision as I was doing before.

The rest of this week is really busy, too.  And my arm is hurting again since I have been doing some heavy lifting and carrying.  Darn, and it was so much better, too. :'(

I am hurting all over, so I'm headed to the shower and then to bed.  And I hope I sleep tonight!

It is thundering and raining a little bit.  We need rain so much, so are really happy about that.

See you all tomorrow.  (I hope.)

Well Pat now you know what it is and how to get it.  It makes a wonderful marinated roast. It is my favorite cut of beef. When I do buy beef which is very rarely. I only eat beef once in a great while. But I have heard that we should eat it at least once per week.

Pat thanks for the clickable on Tri Tip this particular cut of beef is new to me bust since we are going to be getting an order of beef I will ask the butcher for one of these roasts.

Speaking of Grandchildren and loosing contact I do feel that todays society is keeping everyone so busy that the children forget that they have relatives.  This same contact also applies to the Aunts, Uncles when they become great. something else I have noticed is the wife tends to lean to her family and thus forgets her husbands family - this is not the case in our family as I made a conscious effort to be in touch with my husbands family as they also are relatives of our children as well.  We did live closer to my mothers family but I also knew my dad's family but not nearly as well.   We have 2 step grandchildren and we never see them.  We do have one granddaughter and her friend ( Sue's daughter)  She does remember and is in contact with us, until about a year or so ago it was important to her that she showed her friends her room (at our home)  what a wonderful thrill that is.
