Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Hi everyone.  Wow your prayers were really effective as I woke up this morning feeling like my old self.  We have had a busy day.  Pat went with me to my retiree's luncheon and then she had another doctor's appointment.  By the time we got through and picked up a prescription and got home it was about 4 pm.  I laid down and took a nap and now feel refreshed.  Thanks so much for your prayers.

Etta Sue, happy birthday.  I didn't even realize that Paint Shop Pro had come out with a 10th version.  I am still using 7.  I have 8 but found it a bit awkward to use and for what I wanted I liked 7.

Welcome to our new members.

Liz, it does seem criminal that the college keeps your granddaughters money when they admit they made a mistake.  That just doesn't seem right at all.  It is wonderful that Cananda, and many other nations, are sending help and money to aid in this terrible disater.  It is a shame that people are being so difficult about evaluating that situation in New Orleans.  The destruction is also so wide spread that it is hard to even focus on the extent of it.  The Salvation Army centers here in the Atlanta area are being overrun and today they were opening three other mega centers to try to help those here in this area.

Marilyn, I certainly hope some members of your church will be available to help you move.  You certainly shouldn't be doing heavy lifting.  Do you have a move in date in mind?

It is nice to see the humor here.  There has been so much sad news that it is good to laugh for a moment.  There is also so many wonderful stories coming out of the situation.

Janet, it sounds like you all are into a very big job in getting Beth's place repaired and all straightened up.  I'm sure she appreciates all your help.

Guess I had better bring this to a close for today.  A special hi to each and everyone posting.

Marilyn

Well we are shooting for next weekend for the move in date of 17 September, They still need to get a pkumber and an electrician in to do some work. If not the 17th then it will be the following weekend  24 September.

Lots to do yet and lots of time to get it done. I am trying to get my landlord here to let me take the cook stove with me. He said today that he will need a stove and fridge for the new place, but you would think that in a brand new house he would put a brand new stove and fridge.

Let's pray tonight for those that are not feeling well among us.

Let's pray for those who are now homeless on the gulf state coasts in those three states.  What a tragedy that is!

Sweet Hour of Prayer
(Click to hear music)

Pray continually.
1 Thessalonians 5:17

Words: William Walford, 1845; appeared in The New York Observer, September 13, 1845, accompanied by the following, written by Thomas Salmon:

During my residence at Coleshill, Warwickshire, England, I became acquainted with W. W. Walford, the blind preacher, a man of obscure birth and connections and no education, but of strong mind and most retentive memory.

In the pulpit he never failed to select a lesson well adapted to his subject, giving chapter and verse with unerring precision and scarcely ever misplacing a word in his repetition of the Psalms, every part of the New Testament, the prophecies, and some of the histories, so as to have the reputation of "knowing the whole Bible by heart."

He actually sat in the chimney corner, employing his mind in composing a sermon or two for Sabbath delivery, and his hands in cutting, shaping and polishing bones for shoe horns and other little useful implements. At intervals he attempted poetry.

On one occasion, paying him a visit, he repeated two or three pieces which he had composed, and having no friend at home to commit them to paper, he had laid them up in the storehouse within.

"How will this do?" asked he, as he repeated the following lines, with a complacent smile touched with some light lines of fear lest he subject himself to criticism. I rapidly copied the lines with my pencil, as he uttered them, and sent them for insertion in the Observer, if you should think them worthy of preservation.

Music: William B. Bradbury, Golden Chain (New York: 1861)

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father's throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter's snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
The joys I feel, the bliss I share,
Of those whose anxious spirits burn
With strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
Where God my Savior shows His face,
And gladly take my station there,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To Him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I'll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
May I thy consolation share,
Till, from Mount Pisgah's lofty height,
I view my home and take my flight:
This robe of flesh I'll drop and rise
To seize the everlasting prize;
And shout, while passing through the air,
"Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!"

Papa John

Well, I have been absent for the last few days.

I enjoyed the humor in today's posts.

Larry I am glad you are feeling better today.

Marilyn I hope your move goes smoothly.

Monday I am going to have a cataract removed from my right eye.  I have been told that there is nothing to it.

Rom 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)
