JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 1:13

For each of us there is the present and the future.

Our attitude to the latter will regulate our use of the former.

If our hope is "set perfectly on" our Lord's future coming, we will have little problem knowing how to use today--a "loins-girded" readiness for whatever service He may offer us today.
                                                                          --G. Hall

Look, brethren, look! The day is breaking;
Hark, brethren, hard! The dead are waking;
With girded loins all ready stand;
Behold, the Bridegroom is at hand
Eternity is drawing nigh! Eternity is drawing nigh!

Happy Birthday Darin and Sarah. And welcome to the new members.

I missed getting in yesterday, so am here very early. :)

We had a beautiful day here on the Oregon coast.  Church services were wonderful.

Tonight it's cooler, and you can sure tell Fall is making its honored entrance.  Most I talk to are looking forward to it.

Pat, the devotional is perfect.  Today we sang lots of songs about eternity, about Jesus coming, about longing for heaven and home. Pastor Ron's heart is so revealed as he misses his wife....and in his being so real, he is such an inspiration to us all.

Before church this evening, Jane and I drove to the dock and watched the most beautiful sky,  cloudy with rays breaking through.......the water a gorgeous blue.  And I didn't have my camera. haha   I usually don't forget to take it with me.   Anyway, we sat and visited until church time.  There are so many places here on the ocean where one can sit and watch and you can't help but be so in awe of God's creative Love.   This is all for us!  He made this for us.

I keep thinking that the next time I post I'm gonna go back and reply to others, but not this time. :P   I was ready, but then realized I'm in tomorrow and all your posts are in yesterday.  What a difference a day can make..haha

Al, let us know if you ever think of coming to Coos Bay again.  ok?

    Have a blessed day.

8.30a.m.

Good Morning Pat.
Thank-you for the devotional.  The thing I noticed about it was that no mention is made of the "PAST"....Isn't that wonderful.  When we are born again the "past" Doesn't exist. It is dead and God has cast our sins away, as far as the East is from the West. We are new creations in Christ.

Good Morning Nita............I am the English One.  I would love to come to Coos Bay, not just for the ocean but to meet you and Jane and Pastor Ron.

I tried hard to pop in again last night but couldn't get onto the web., also I couldn't send any e mails....This has continued early this morning until I decided to phone my friendly Virgin.net technical helpline.....God Bless Steve....he gave me a new dialling-up phone number and here I am......GREAT!  Thanks Lord!

A typical autumn morning here....slight chill in the air and a promise of sunshine.  Only problem is that these mornings the fumes from the busy road nearby do seem to hang about low and the petrol smells are unpleasant....Please Lord send a gentle breeze to lift the atmosphere.  I know you will....I Know it's hard for some of you to believe from the pictures of my home that this house is so near a busy thoroughfare.....but it is....

I must pop off for now as I am going to pop up to see Nicola, the dentist....No Pat...I am not going in THAT chair again today.....Just to take her a few chocs...for her patience.  By the way, my treatment is free as I have a disability allowance.  Christopher has to pay for his.

IAIN...."JOY" MY BROTHER.

GOOD MORNING RIA......
.You will be here soon I am sure.

PASTOR AL............."PRAYERFULLY"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SARAH AND DARIN.

Love and blessings in Our Lord Jesus, to ALL COMERS.
Jenny.

Good Morning to all and Happy Birthday to:
Sara and Darin

Pat, the Happy Birthday song is still going on and what a version :) :) :)

I missed yesterday..was too busy I guess. Forgot to take a picture of my church.  We had 2 wonderful services.

I've been sick for a week with a cold..but this morning I  feel fit for another work week.  Guess the antibiotic has finally kicked in.

My prayers for Ria's father and her son today.

Also, for Al  and his upcoming procedure and for Chris's new job.

A blessed day for all.  Remember that:
"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline." 2 Tim 1:7   so we all have a lot to work with all day today.  Maybe even to be His witnesses :
"But you will receive Power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses...." Acts 1:8  (insert your hometown or whereever you are today)
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No man cometh unto the Father but by me.  John 14:6

Hello Diana.  How nice to meet you.
I second Etta's Sue's remarks....come in often.  There is lots to interest you  and share.

You look much too young to have a daughter of 31 and son 26.

I have a son 31 too and a daughter of 34....and four grandsons.

My home is here in England and dear Pat invited me over from another site...I haven't looked back. This has helped me in many ways.  So many wonderful friends and Jesus is here.

The Devotionals are so encouraging and Pastor Al's Psalms too. Also we pray for one another's needs in the Prayers section.

Have you a recipe to share with us in the kitchen?

Love to all.
Speak later.
Jenny.

Etta Sue!  Say hello to Joan L. from me!  I met her in northern MN this year.

Oh may our thoughts indeed be on our endless future today, and may those thoughts control all we do or say.
Our church had a baptism yesterday.  We went to a place called Moonstone Beach, where there is a little stream coming into the ocean, a stream fitly called Little River.  Four young people were baptized, and everyone rejoiced.  Many, many people who happened to be at the beach saw it all happen, and we pray it will be a good witness to them.  I didn't get any pix, but a friend did, and I may be able to get copies.

Marilyn

Good morning and Happy Birthday to Sarah and Darin

Welcome to Diana_g
It is very nice to meet you. You certainly have your hands full with your caregiving activities.

I am Marilyn I am also a caregiver but to the elderly.

There is a photo of Moonstone Beach somewhere in the photo thread that I took last Christmas. It is a beautiful place for a baptism.

Well with all the landlords fixing on Saturday I still caught a rat in the trap I set by the fridge. I am going to have to take everything out of the lower cupbords and see if there is a hole for them to come through. I will do that after work today.

I am going back to that other lady's house today, being the 15th she has to sign my timesheet for the first part of this month. I will find out how many hours Bea has later this week, then I will know if I can quit this other one.

BE back later.

Good Morning Everyone!

It's a drizzly day here in Guelph--a good day to spend indoors arranging pantry cupboards!  LOL

It's so nice to see you posting Nita!  We miss you when you aren't here.  Glad you had such a nice time with Jane.  Next time, don't forget your camera!

Karma, I sure agree with you but I thought it was my age!  Where HAS the first half of September gone?

Hi "English One"!  Glad you got that internet connection straightened out!  It's nice when the ISP techies are helpful!  Glad you don't have to pay for your dentist and I'm sure that they are so happy to get the chocolates--anything like that that will give them more business!

Ria, I use Paint Shop Pro to make the little graphics.  It's a super program for editing photos and doing things like this.  I hope that your father isn't too uncomfortable with his radiation treatments.  Sorry about your husband's foot.  That's horrible!

There are two different versions of the Happy Birthday song, Kathy!    I hope that Sarah and Darin like them!

We're so happy to have you posting, Diana!  We're all tickled pink!  It's so nice to know a little bit about you as well.  We will definitely be upholding you in prayer as you go about your daily caregiving chores.  I'm so very sorry to read about your son's horrendous accident and your daughter's illness as well.  Just keep coming in here and you'll soon have a little group of caring folks gathered around you.

Etta Sue, what a lovely time you'll have today meeting with our mutual friend from SeniorNet, Northern Joan.  It's great to get together in little groups like this as you have so much more time to chat.  She's a really neat gal.

Good Morning Carol!  How's your hubby's hand?  Is there much damage due to the fall he had the other day?

Good Morning Al...  Thanks for those words.  They are encouraging to us all.  You have a great day and keep us posted regarding your health problem.  What a wonderful Lord's Day you had seeing those folks baptized!  That's just wonderful.  Yes, we'd love to have photos.  And you left home without your camera??????

Marilyn!!!   You got caught in the rat trap???   Did you hurt yourself?  That's just horrible.  Horrible to have that happen but also horrible to see a rat in your house!  I have seen them outside and that's where I want them to stay!

Well, I'm off to see about my pantry cupboard.  I must get this organized and almost finished today.  I must!  It's awful to be disorganized!

Talk to you later!

Hi everyone.  First of all a big welcome to Diana.  I hope you will be posting often.  I agree with the others that you certainly have your hands full and do hope you can find a few moments of peace and quiet here.  My wife and I were in Kentucky last weekend to attend a Golden Wedding Anniversary and I saw again what a beautiful state it is.  We drove around the Lexington, Midway and Shelbyville areas as well as visiting the Shaker Village.  Years ago we lived in the Frankfurt area but I had forgotten just how beautiful the countryside was up that way.

Happy Birthday Sarah and Darin.  Hope this is a great day for you.

Pat, glad you got your car going again.  I have had the same thing happen.

Al, it sounds like yesterday was a big day for your church with the baptism of 4 folks.

We had a good service yesterday and the choir was in good voice.  It was the anthem "God of Grace and God of Glory" and is a very dynamic piece of music.  I think we shook the rafters in singing our praise of God.

After church we went out to lunch with a number of friends and didn't get home until after 2:30.  By that time I was beat and even after a nap was still tired all evening but feeling more refreshed this morning.  Pat and I are heading to water aerobics in about 30 minutes.  Sure the water will feel very good today.

Nita, it sounds like you and Jane had a wonderful evening enjoying the sunset and the ocean and then your worship services.

Jenny, we are beginning to see signs of fall in our area as well.  We had a little rain last night and I noticed a number of leaves on the lawns this morning.  It is very nice of you to take treats to your dentist's office.

Ria, sorry to read of your son's sore foot and hope it improves quickly and that he passes his driver's test.  Some of our friends have family living in Belguim and they said it cost about $1,000 to get a driver's license there.  There granddaughter is starting to college in Colorado so she got her license here this summer while she was staying with them.

Kathy, glad you are feeling better this week.  Those colds really drag a person down.

Etta Sue, sorry to hear of the blister.  Know you will have a great time at breakfast with Northern Joan.  I have never met her but know who she is from the SeniorNet site.

Carol, how is your husband's hand doing?  Sure hope there was no damage from the fall he had.

Marilyn, don't envy you having to fight that rat problem and hope your landlord gets things under control quickly.  I grew up on a farm and we always had to fight rats in our barn.  Didn't like them at all.  I saw a little piece on 60 Minutes about the Attenborough, who makes all the wonderful nature programs.  He showed some film they made in some place where they think rats are sacred and let them walk all over the people.  Didn't didn't go for that at all and said he could hardly narrate with he concern that the rats would run up his pants leg.

Pat, it sounds like a good day to stay in.  Will we be seeing a picture of your new cupboard?

Janet

I wrote a nice long post this morning, clicked on post, and it went away to cyberland! ???  I got Page Not Found....... :-\ >:(

Happy birthday to Darin and to Sarah.  And many more!

Yesterday, our pastor was talking about how the patriarchs in the Bible blessed their children, and how, in our society, we really don't know how to do that.  He handed out lists of 31 Biblical Virtues to pray for our children and grandchildren.  He talked about the importance of touching our kids and grandkids, playing with them, listening to them, and encouraging them, among other things.  Some kids are just so attention-starved, it is so sad.  Even a little pat on the shoulder, and they will follow you like a lost puppy.

Tomorrow is my grandson Curtis' 20th birthday, so I baked his favorite cookies yesterday, and will get those to the post office this morning.  I also wrote him a long letter, recalling my memories of him from the time his folks told me he was expected, up to the present, and assuring him of my love, confidence and pride in him.  Grams is getting sentimental!  :)

After church yesterday, the Hispanic Ministry that meet in the church library served us a wonderful, authentic Mexican dinner.  They had tostadas, burritos, and tamales, with rice and a hot mix of avacado, tomato, peppers and spices---really good!  They are wanting to take a group of 30-some to a conference in Houston, so were receiving donations toward that.  It was nice not to have to decide where and what to eat!

Diana, welcome!  You are one busy lady---and you look too young to have kids that age!  God bless you and give you extra energy and peace as you take care of your heavy responsibilities.  I hope this site blesses you as it does us.

Yes, Pat, get that cupboard and pantry organized!!  Chop, chop!! ;)

I must get busy---I hope this one posts!

Oh Mieka just what I need to do "A Happy Dance"......

I've just come home from a ride to the old village on my "chariot" and I met Angela a lovely lady who has M.S. She had just been for a swim at the local baths and she and I could do the "Happy Dance" together...She's a practising  Roman Catholic...we are praying for each other.  Will look out for each other again!

Christopher popped home to sign with  the new medical practice and all went well. The nurse did some tests and has arranged for a swift appointment with the doctor in the morning and she is phoning the old doctors to see what they've been upto.  She is going to get the hospital appointment brought forward....THANKFULLY.....Chris says he can feel something is very twisted!!!(Please Pray'ers UPHOLD this). He's in a lot of pain.

Pat what are you doing...that pantry cupboard is taking a long time!!! YOU ENJOYED THINKING ABOUT IT!

Larry I am visualising you doing water aerobics......proper Busby Berkley!!!

A dear old uncle of mine Uncle Frank Lancaster  worked on a large estate in Lincolnshire years ago....Poor darling, he'd had his own farm and lost it in the 30s...many did then.  He told me that quite often rats would run up his trouser leg when he was pulling potatoes or other crops.  This was alright until one day one little blighter bit him somewhere that hurt.  Thereafter he wore his bicyle clips round his ankles.

My cats love to kill the rats from the allotments and leave them in the garden....huge white ones.  A neighbour told me that folks sometimes have pet rats and let them go and  they produce white ones when they interbreed  with the wild type......It's the teeth that put me off.  How can people have them for pets?

Well folks I am off to the kitchen to cook our evening meal now....You will be finishing your lunches I imagine at this time...............ENJOY!

Love Jenny.

I just stopped by to print a label for Curtis' package, had to read new posts....HI, MIEKA!!

Speaking of rats reminds me of a friend whose little girl got a pet white, hairless rat for a pet. (ugh!)  She named her "Hillary Rodent Clinton!"  Hehehehe.

Oh, Janet!   I'm sitting here all alone in my house laughing so hard!  That's the best name for a pet rat!  HAHAHAHAHA!  (Oh, I'm so bad!  You can all slap me with a very wet noodle!!!)

By the way, what a lovely thing to do for Curtis.  God bless you as you work with your grandkids.

Jenny, I noticed your post about "the past".
But the past is very important too, we must learn from past mistakes.
Or we will make them again lol!
Learn from the past, look forward to tomorrow, but live for today.
And remember that worrying about tomorrow takes all the joy out of today!
Regards Chris.

Jenny

7.15 p.m.

Thanks Chris and I agree with you but I was referring in context of Pat's devotional this morning....Indeed we all can learn from the past. I am still learning. Some however never learn and continue making the same misakes all over again....Christians are lucky people by the grace of God.....AMAZING GRACE...We have a strong Deliverer.

Yes I am enjoying today...another dear soul said those words to me this morning Chris.

Blessings in Jesus' Name to everyone.
Jenny.
