Hi everyone.  I am having a quiet day watching College football this afternoon.  The University of Georgia will play Louisiana State University  in about 20 minutes.  So am using my laptop on my lap while sitting with my feet up in my recliner with my feet up.  This morning I had to replace the screen in the door on the screened in porch as about midnight last night a big dog tore it all to pieces trying to get at our cat, Mr. Tiggers.  Fortunately Pat was still up and heard the noise and rescued the cat.  He spent the rest of the night in the house and will spend the nights in the garage until next summer.

Ruthie, it is nice to see your son and daughter joining us here on CP.  Am looking forward to seeing the photos from your son (and your daughter if she shares photos.)

Ruth Ann, it is great that you have a fine boss and for you take him to lunch.  I spend many years working for the Federal Government and our rules wouldn't allow us to do anything for a superior in rank.  I was fortunate that over the years I had several good bosses as well.

Trish, sorry to read that you have to have knee surgery.  I will be praying that you do well in your recovery.

Pat, it is very sad to lose our friends but I guess as we grow older this is going to happen more often.  One of the men I have coffee with is in his early 80's and it seems he attends a funeral about twice a month.

Pat, as the devotional this morning says, it is wonderful that we don't have to wonder about our salvation since Jesus has paid the price for us.

Janet and Marilyn, I am also having a "kick-back" day and it is nice to have a change of pace.  I usually work everyday on some project in my office or having a meeting.

Ria, that walk in the woods should be good for your back.  Exercise is so good for us if we are able to do it.

Janet, that story concerning the Bibles in Russia sends chills up my spine.  Thanks for sharing it.

beautiful weather i have not pain now.
Mondaymorning i go swimming at 7.00AM before the schoolchildren are coming they get swimming lessons.
But tomorrow i can not go to the church because we have church in an other church wit other people
We call that in Holland TOGETHER ON WAY that is nice
but then i must sit on a bench and then i get again pain in my back in our own church there i have a chair.
But i take a look on TV. At 9.00 AM there is on TV
a church from America Hour of Power. Then at 10.00 AM
a church only singing. And at 11.00 AM a normal church
A lot to see tomorrow
Now it is 10.15PM in Holland i close the computer i go
read in my Bible and pray.

About 1:30 I went to Arcata and I couldn't find a praking place anywhere near the plaza. Even at the bank there was a long line at the ATM machine so I couldn't get money there either. I wanted to go to the farmers Market and buy some veggies as well as check out the Fair. I just came back home and washed my car and have been lurking around different sites on my computer.

It is one of those days that all I feel like doing is soaking in a hot bath, putting on my pajamas and doing nothing. I have a sore throat and that slimy old devil keeps trying to tell me it is something serious. Praise the Lord that I go to the Doctor on Tuesday. I have been gargling warm salt water off and on all day and last night. I have a natural recipe for sore throat but I don't have the  ingredients. Slippery Elm, Licorice and Echinacea to make the throat spray. Sarah  probably has some next door but they aren't home. They sure do go a lot. If I'm not fast I don't catch them.

Well I think I will cut a branch of fresh Rosemary and throw it in the bath tub to soak before I get in.

 :(Marilyn, I know how you feel.  I had a sore throat a week ago and it turned into a cold.  I thought I had it shaken and WHAM!  Thursday morning woke up with it again and took the afternoon and Friday off work.  I feel much better now.  Cough syrop and Tylenol Cold and NeoCitron, along with gargling with salt-water seems to have done the trick.

Yes, I KNOW! Praise the Lord, I know where I'm going!  

We had a beautiful, though somewhat breezy, day today.  Since this is the weekend of the Balloon Festival in Glens Falls we decided to go for the 5:30 lift off - supposedly 100 or more balloons.  We got there abour 4:45, via a special shuttle bus that was running every half hour and looked around a little.  The promised ground displays turned out to be two little piper cubs and an Air National Guard turbo-jet.  

We waited and waited for them to start getting the balloons ready but by the scheduled time of 5:30 there wasn't even one spread out.  There was no place to sit except on the ground and Gene's back was getting more and more uncomfortable, even though he kept switching between standing and sitting.  Since there was quite a little wind we figured they had decided not to fly after all and went back to where the bus would soon arrive for our return trip.

The bus pulled out at 5:45 and as we went around a bend what did we see but a beautiful balloon just coming upright.   By the time we got back to our car we could see in the distance six or eight in the air.  By that time we were too tired to try again and came on home.  

Next year we'll take a bus about an hour later and maybe have better luck.  I did get a couple of pictures of the turbo-jet and one of a tethered advertising balloon, but that's all.  (And I went prepared with CF cards for at least 50 pictures.   )

Thank you Pat for the devotional.  1John 5:13 is the verse we quote when talking to people in Evangelism Explosion.  We ask them "Have you come to the place in your spiritual life where you know for certain that if you were to die tonight you would go to heaven?"

If the person says "I hope so" or "I'm not sure"  I tell them "the bible says that you can be sure in 1 John 5: 13"  I sometimes say, that is why the bible was written, so everyone can know how to have eternal life and go to heaven.  

Isn't it good to know for sure!!

Hello Ria:

There was a hurricane in U.S. and we only got the tail end of it in Canada.  

Suddenly it was raining very hard and the winds were very strong.  I usually walk to work, but on Friday I took my car because if I walked my umbrella would blow inside out.  Oh well it was a lovely sunny day today.  The storm has passed.

Hi all!  It's been a good day here in Texas!  Partly cloudy (but with lots of sun), and not too hot.  I went to a singles picnic with grilled hot dogs and chilie and HORSEBACK RIDING!  wooHoo!!  And I rode!  I haven't ridden in years - but guess what??  It's just ilke riding a bicycle!  You don't forget!  Then A friend drove over from Dallas for a visit...  Then Spanish class.  Good fellowship.  Good night all!

Oh, Pinkie!  I wish I weren't such a chicken!  I love horses but having been thrown once when a teen, I just can't get the courage to get up there again.

I did once but made the young people get me a step ladder to get on and then again to get off!

I think I will say good night now I have just spent an hour on Chris and Margit's  site looking at photos with scriptures. Still have one more page togo. My computer is so slow on a dial up modem.

Have to get my clothes ready for tomorrow.

Well it has been a wonderful day today.  I have spent the entire day with my grand babies.  Both Doug and Meg had to work so I had the awesome priveledge of be a babysitting grandma! Included in this was a one year birthday for Bonnie's son Drake.

Had seceral calls while I was out from mother.  It seems there have been 5 deaths in her building of people she knows, as well as 2 relatives.  She has said it is really depressing where she is living.  Please keep her in mind when you pray.

I am aiming to buy a camera for Melaura for Christmas.  She is antzy to start snapping and posting on CP!  So in the new year expect to see her creations.

We had a heads up with tomorrows service.  Pastor Dennis has said that the service is on the subject of "When God Says No"  WOW I saw 4 little boys react when told "No". And I believe we as adults are not much different.  Just a little more sophisticated! (SP?)  Yet I personally know His no's are always what I need at that time.

Well it is late. I think I need to rest my eye at least a bit before tomorrow.

Hi Judy!

That will be great if Melaura gets a camera.  Many of the Digital Photo Challenge participants have their children registered as well and they enter photos into the contests.  Sonja on here has her eldes two on there.

It was a lovely day today in CP!  Lots of new photos and lots of posts to read!
