Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Psalm 2:4.  "He Who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall hold them in derision."

There are many in our time who assume that an infinite God would have very little, if any, interest in what we tiny, insignificant creatures think or do here on this relatively small, insignificant planet.

Here in the psalm, though, we're told quite a different story.  We're told about a relationship between God and this microcosm where we live.  We're presented with a picture: on the one hand appears humanity and human government rebelling against the very thought of a god who rules over the affairs of men.  In fact, they set themselves dead against the religious worship of those who teach about such a god.  They want the world to be set free from such archaic and progress-inhibiting foolishness.

On the other hand is God Himself.  He is entirely unmoved by this rebellion.  He is neither injured nor at all frustrated.  He is pictured here as "laughing" at man's futile attempts to break free from His sovereign rule.

It's as though humankind "whistled in the dark," not realilzing that He's already decisively dealt with them, that He's already "set His King upon His holy hill of Zion."  They do not at all realize that God's King - Jesus Christ - is coming again to judge the living and the dead.

What is your response to His lordship?  Do you look forward eagerly to His soon return?

Psalm 2
(Click to hear music)

Musician:  James Turtle, 1802-1882

1   Why rage the heathen? And vain things
         Why do the people mind?
2   Kings of the earth do set themselves,
         And princes are combined,

    To plot against the Lord, and his
         Anointed, saying thus,
3   Let us asunder break their bands,
         And cast their cords from us.

4   He that in heaven sits shall laugh;
         The Lord shall scorn them all.
5   Then shall he speak to them in wrath,
         In rage he vex them shall.

6   Yet I my King appointed have
         Upon my holy hill;
    On Zion mount his throne is set,
         Established by my will.

7   The sure decree I will declare:
         The Lord hath said to me,
    Thou art mine only Son; this day
         I have begotten thee.

8   Ask of me, and for heritage
         The heathen I'll make thine;
    And for possession I to thee
         Will give earth's utmost line.

9   Thou with a rod of iron shalt
         Beat down and break them all;
    Them, as a potter's vessel, thou
         Shalt dash in pieces small.

10 Now therefore, kings, be wise; be taught,
         Ye judges of the earth:
11 Serve ye the Lord in holy fear;
         Join trembling with your mirth.

12 Kiss ye the Son, lest in his ire
         Ye perish from the way;
    For suddenly his wrath may burn:
         Blest all that on him stay.

Beautiful morning here on the island.  Good thing, as Wendy  & I have to find something to do for 8 hrs. while the house is once again being treated for carpeter ants.  Seems they didn't all die the first time!

Squeek has to go next door for the day while this is going on.  Sure that she will be thrilled..... >:(  We will be in her 'dog house' for days to come! ::)

Thanks for the Birthday Greetings ....  in answer to Marilyn's question, no, the kids wanted to take me for lunch but I asked to stay home.  Have to spend today out and Wendy is taking me to Chemainus to look at the murals and eat lunch there.  We are going to go and check out the antique stores...she likes that.  Then sit by the ocean, as Wendy can't walk much and has to rest.  They gave me a lovely new watch....my old one is turning into an antique.  Still like it tho' and remember being thrilled the day I bought it.  Time really does march on....ouch!!

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless,

Liz

Seems I am always a day late....Happy Birthday, Liz!!

Not much to say since late last night.  I did have two visitors that rang my doorbell...the ones that wants you to listen and read their literature.  I didn't open my door....didn't want to be bothered.  He rang the doorbell three times...then opened the screen door and turned the doorknob back and forth real hard.  What would have happened if the door would have opened?  I never had them do that before!  Glad I am in the habit of locking my door since the robbery in my neighborhood.

I had a very nice conversation with Ivalou on the phone today.  I love that woman...brings tears to my eyes to think that one of us is bound to leave the other on this earth and then tears of joy to know we will live eternity together with other loved ones.

Bright and sunny in Indiana today but the temp is only 62° and rising.  Brrrr!

Happy Monday, folks!

I took Beth's dog to visit and left her there while I worked out.  She told me yesterday she was suffering from "dog withdrawal."  ;)

Etta Sue, aren't sisters great?  My eldest sis called me this morning and it's always a treat to talk to her.  She lives near North Platte, NE, in a little town named Hershey.

As always, lots of things are clamoring for my attention, so I will go get to work.  I think I will feel much more peaceful when I get through decluttering!  Right now, the target is my studio!

Al, thanks for the good words this morning.  How foolish are those who think they can defy the Living God, and not pay the price!

Liz, I hope you have an enjoyable day out with Wendy, and that every last ant is DEAD this time.  Yuck.  I hate bugs of any kind in the house, and we fight them constantly here.

Pat, any word yet from the McKennas?  Still prayng here.

Carol, maybe one day when we get to the Denver area (doesn't happen often!) we can meet you and your husband.  That would be SO nice.

Hi folks...

I'm just peeking in quickly as I have a terrible headache today and I've been lying down to try and get rid of it.

Thought I'd just greet you all quickly while I'm waiting for my tea to brew.

I'll try to get back later.

Love y'all!

You're welcome for that, Pat.  God has blessed me sooo much over so many years!  I owe Him to share what He has taught me.

I pray your tea will greatly help that headache - those are so debilitating.
