Morning Devotional...

You Hold the Key

"I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
(Matthew 16:19)

The Greek text of that scripture would literally read, "I give you the keys of the kingdom. Whatever you declare locked on earth is locked in heaven and whatever you declare unlocked on earth is unlocked in the heavenlies."

The heaven Jesus was talking about there isn't the heaven where God resides. He was talking about the battle zone, about the heaven where Satan's forces are operating.

He was telling us that God has given us power to bind the wicked spirits in heavenly places and to loose the angelic powers of God to work in our behalf.

Philippians 2:9-10 says, "We have been given a Name which is above every name, and at the Name of Jesus every knee shall bow!" Where? In heaven, in earth and under the earth. That covers it all!

As believers, we have total authority over the powers of Satan. We can take authority over the evil spirits that are trying to destroy this nation. We can take authority over them in the Name of Jesus and pull down their strongholds.

It is time we began to realize how important we are to world affairs. Since the day Jesus gave us the Great Commission, the life or death of the world has been in the hands of the Church. We are the ones who have the mighty Name of Jesus and the awesome strength of the gospel to bring life and abundance to every creature. We are the ones whose prayers can change every office of authority in this land.

It's up to you and me to begin to intercede right now and use the power God has given us. We may come from different lands with different backgrounds, but we all have one thing in common--Jesus Christ is our Lord. And that alone is enough to alter the spiritual complexion of this earth.

Scripture Study: Acts 4:1-14

Guess that I am either late or early...depending on opinion!
Nice devotional, Janet.  Seems as if evil keeps flying in the window on a regular basis lately.  I find a sincere prayer helps to calm the storm and restore perspective....

Lovely weather here on the island, tho' fall is definately in the air.  Misty is not in a hurry to go outside in the mornings now.  Takes a look, turns around, lies down again!  Rain is badly needed and some areas are having water rationing due to drought.  This is bad for the tourist business and is causing many problems with people being laid off from their jobs.  Tofino had to truck in water and many reservations were cancelled this weekend.

I am going to Victoria tomorrow as it is Senior Day at the Bay.  Hope to find a few reasonably priced fall clothes.  Well, one can hope!

Not much to talk about so will add a small smile.  Hope it has not recently been done here....

A husband and wife, both sixty yrs. old, were celebrating their thirty-fifth anniversary.  During their party, a fairy appeared to congratulate them and grant them each one wish.  The wife wanted to travel around the world.

The fairy waved her wand and poof! - the wife had tickets in her hand for a world cruise.  Next the fairy asked the husband what he wanted.  He said, "I wish I had a wife thrity years younger than me."

So the fairy picked up her wand and poof! - the husband was ninety.

                ;)

Time to go.  Pleasant Evening/Day all and God Bless.

Janet

Good morning, Liz.  Good to hear from your part of the world!  I think an early Fall is in store for most of us.  It feels like October here already.

Hi, Sarah!  Are you still working at Pizza Hut?

Nita, it's always a blessing to see your posts, as you are an encourager.

I wish everyone here on CP a wonderful day.  I'm going with Darrel to a town about 35 miles from here to help him install an alarm system today.  I hope to see a friend there who used to paint with me.

Today's headlines seem taken right out of Daniel and Revelation.  Look up, folks, our redemption draweth nigh!!

Cool, cloudy and damp again today!

If you would, stop, watch and read the animation above.  Neat, isn't it?

Ivalou and I are going to KMart in Anderson today.  I don't think either of us have ever been to this one...it is on the north side of Anderson.  Southside is nearer to us but they closed that KMart years ago.

Then if it is still sunny like it is now, I plan to mow.  I am going to Indiana University tomorrow and Thursday Kitty is taking me out for my birthday.  Friday I will be going two times out for my birthday and Saturday I can rest!

It does sound like everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend.  We had an impromptu weiner roast back in the woods.  About 12 of us enjoyed the fire, food and conversation.  If you click on my name above and see the map, the woods is the dark rectangle south of my house!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I have news for you in that it isn't fall in Georgia yet.  It was very warm here yesterday.  So far today it is overcast.  We are going to a luncheon with our senior's group from church.  We always enjoy that and we go to different places each month.  Today it is a Japanese place where they apparently fix the food on grills in front of you.  It has been a long time since we have eaten in a Japanese place.  This evening we will be gone as have some meetings to attend.

Etta Sue, it sounds like you will be royally celebrating your birthday with three meals out.  Let me be the first here to wish you HAPPY BIRTHDAY.  I am usually late in doing that for folks.

Janet, it sounds like you had a great weekend with your grands.  Glad that Darrel had a nice time at his reunion.  Don't work too hard today.  Sorry you lost your work.  If you are using Word there is a setting that will automatically backup your work every few minutes (based upon the time interval you set).  That has saved me a few times.  We all have experienced the lose of work due to forgetting to backup, even when we know better.

Sarah, it sounds like that was a lot of business to generate that type of profit.  Guess you will be hitting the books again today.

Liz, hope you find some clothes at the Senior Day.  I liked your funny.

Janet, thanks for the devotional.  However, I have to say the discussion of the other Heaven left me a bit stumped, probably from my own ignorance.

Ruth, are the children pretty well behaved on your bus route?  Hope you have a good route this year.  It seems like it has been a short summer since your last bus run (probably seems that way to you as well.)

Judy, good to see you posting.  So sorry to read that your hip is giving you so much pain.  Sure hope it isn't a broken bone as you sure don't need that.

Jeannine, aren't you glad that is a customer and not one of your superiors i the store who is giving the problem.  Nice to see you posting.

Hi Rob and all who will be posting today.

Etta Sue - I tried clicking on your name.  It pulled up the data ok.  But then I got a message saying that the map had to be pulled from another site, that if I wanted the key to that I could go to another site to get it.  It's no big deal, but I thought I'd mention it.

Marilyn

Good Morning, I got called to work at 6 PM last night to take Ruth to the hospital ER.  I got back home after 10PM. It turned out to be a UTI and I took her back home and will pick up medicine for her this morning. She called her son first and he just told her to call 911. Then his line was busy the whole time we were there at the hospital. She was so scared because her head was so fuzzy and I thought she was having a stroke her BP was 197 or 95.

Well time to go to work.

today is just a day to relax... except for work this evening... yes i still work for pizza hut but i transfered to boise city... more hours, higher pay and a better position in the company.. i get the joy of going back to school tomorrow but then i'm off again until monday... not a bad schedule if you ask me! :) i only go 2 days a week but i'm pullin 16 hours... plus 35+ hours a week at work... anyways
Janet- how is abby likin piano? i took lessons under Mrs. Lomax before i moved down here.
Larry- yes it was a lot of business... and it was insane ( therre was only 1 cook and 3 waits) I learned what its like to cook as fast as you can but still get everything out on time... i was interesting ( the cook that came in to help was slow and just complained the entire time)
Marilyn- i have never really heard of an odd blood pressure we always measure in even numbers! how different  ??? but i guess with everything in hospitals being a machine you could get odd numbers we still do bp by hand not with machines in the rig (mainly because if you use a machine it just reads an error because of the roads in this area- which are oh so smooth right Janet?!)

Hi Everyone !

Thanks Janet for the devotional. It makes me realize that I need to pray more for our world, I guess I get caught up in praying for friends, family and local problems..... I need to include more worldly things in my prayers also.

Hope everyone has a wonderful, God filled day !
God Bless, Rob

Janet

Oh, Larry, please, please, PLEASE tell me how to protect a document in Word!!  I will be ever so grateful!  I just worked on the China Report again and put back a lot of what I lost, and think that will be it for a while.  I am waiting for Pat to let me know how she wants me to do it, to put it here on CP.

Yes, Sarah, Abby is loving her piano lessons with Mrs. Lomax.  She says she's going to take them for eight years!  ;)  That would be fine with Grandma!

We got the alarm installed--it is in a gun shop--and I got to visit my friend.  It was so nice to see her again.  There is nothing like friends!  :)

Time to go make us our afternoon shake!  See you all tomorrow.  It is my Red Hat day tomorrow, for lunch.  We are having a salad luncheon in one of the ladies' back yard.

Janet: I enjoyed the devotional. A great reminder that we need to expand our prayers beyond family & friends.

First day back at school for the children,  they all seemed excited to be back a chance to see their teacher and friends and also I was given a warm welcome from the high school group right down to the little ones as well. As usual it was confusion but that is par the course,  in a day or so it will all be sorted out.

It was also a lovely day and yes it does seem that fall is on its way but this  is my most favored season.

Marilyn: It is sad when a caregiver has to go out when family should be the ones that care. Excuses do not cut in my books.

Sarah:  Cook one of the pizza's for me.

Larry: I am looking forward to joining the Sr's groups when I finally retire.

Etta Sue:  I hope that you do not mind that I copied and pasted your animation to pass on to a dear Aunt that by times feels lonely.

Now to go to the paint program and see if I can figure out how to re-size the page as I need to do a diagram

See ya tomorrow

After a long absence, I am back once again.

Janet, the automatic save function in Word is as follows:  Tools, Options, Save, and almost at the bottom of the list of options is the "auto-recovery" selection.  Make sure it is checkmarked and select the time you want to have happen.  These directions may be different if you are using a newer version of Word.  I am using Word 97.

Marilyn, if you want, send me copy of the original file, or the information you want included and I can play with it and put it into excel for you.

The trailer is now closed for another year and now the winter routine needs to be set once again.  Aquafit is hopefully going to become a part of it this year.

Mom, when you receive Sara's pizza let me know and I'll be over to help consume it.

Now I must get back to the chore of cleaning out my day's email before shutting the computer off for the evening.

Pat

Hi folks...

Sorry, but just changing the date above as I must get back to bed.   Just not feeling well.  Will be better tomorrow.

Thanks Larry, problem is our store is the one that gets the "problem" employees who need to straighten up and unfortunate that includes management. Oh well, at least I get along with everybody. Today is "wacky" wednesday, that means they bus in people from the city who have a variety of problems, but that's not the wacky part, it's how many plus buses from the senior homes in the area too. That's alot of people in one small store.

Janet: follow the directions given and if you think of it while you are working in WORD then hit ctrl + s, that saves too. I do that everytime I finish a frame in PowerPoint while I prepare it for Sunday service.

Marilyn: I hope Ruth is feeling better. That was some bp. My mom did one a few weeks ago at 200/151. luckily it lasted only a few minutes and it was from the problem breathing but it did give me pause and some worry.

Etta Sue:    ;D HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!   Hope it's a great day for you!

Well all, I hope you have a blessed day in the Lord, time to try to get Michael to go to sleep (he's been awake since before midnight when I got up), he's not buying the need for sleep routine, Oh well, time for more coffee. :coffee:

Blessings,

Hi Everyone,

All is fine here in Japan.  Casey, our 20-year-old, is back in California for his second year of school.  Such fun stuff as Chemistry, Analytical Geometry, English 120, and Spanish II--so if you need to pray for someone, I know a college kid who would appreciate you interceding in his behalf.  He is studying NOT in his native language, which is Japanese, so his workload is a bit heavier than most.

Our eldest, who to our disappointment, has been dating a young lady who is not a Christian.  She came up for communion last Sunday for the first time, so we are hoping it was the Holy Spirit urged her to do, and not pressure from elsewhere.  She hasn't told us that she has accepted Christ or not.  This is something else you are welcome to pray for <3 .

Midori and I are fine, enjoying the change in weather from muggy summer to an early autumn, and a typhoon-less season so far.  I will be extremely busy during September and October with a variety of things.  I hope to stop by when I can.  I have been checking the gallery and commenting on an occasional picture.

Oh, Jazz had another trim a week ago.  That will be his last 'til next summer.

That's all the news from the Soileaus for now.

Here's a bit of God's Word from Paul's letter to the Colossians, Chapter One.

God rescued us from dead-end alleys and dark dungeons. He's set us up in the kingdom of the Son he loves so much,  the Son who got us out of the pit we were in, got rid of the sins we were doomed to keep repeating.

Kevin - what school is your son attending in Calif.?  Sounds like fun stuff he's taking!  I took all that stuff also - when I was an engineering major (many, many years ago) at San Jose State University.  May our Father move him to stay in communion with Him, and may he see that everything he does is service to God.  May he therefore realize his Lord's presence and blessing in it all.  I also pray for your other boy, that he won't be entrapped, and that they may both know our Lord clearly, along with desire to serve Him in all they do.  Amen.

Well, I've got to go do the treadmill this morning.  It's so frustrating.  I go and go and go, and then I look around, and, guess what, I'm still exactly in the same place!  I wish the thing at least would generate electricity or something.

Etta Sue

Pat ~ I sure hope you feel better soon.  It's a waste of time to feel bad, right?

Ruth ~ Interesting.  How do you copy and paste an animation?  I didn't think that was possible.  But anyone can 'save' any of my animations to use later for other purposes.

Larry ~ And I forgot that our 60 Chix luncheon is Saturday.  So I will be eating out for about 4 days plus this evening.  After church on Sunday, I am always starved!

Al ~ Uh, do I remember that you have an Apple?  Maybe that is why you don't see the Goggle map when you click my name.

Marilyn ~ That must have been scary last night at the ER with your client.  I know it was with Ali Cat and she is a cat!!  She had an UTI also but I don't know her BP.

Sarah ~ I am so happy to see you posting.  You seem so mature now.  A lot more grown up.  Sounds like you have all your ducks in a row and eggs in a basket...is that the saying or have I messed that up?

Rob ~ Every day is a wonderful day when God is with you, right?

Janet ~ I took a couple of years of piano lessons.  I can read music and play...the right hand only.  Never did get that left hand going in there right.  I can play 'Heart and Soul' still pretty good!  So tell Abby to stay in there and some day she will be the pianist at the church of her choice.

Sue ~ Thanks for the WORD advice.  I checked mine and it was set for 10 minutes.  I changed it to 3 minutes.  And I also use the CTRL + S for a lot of things.

Jeanine ~ Thanks for the Happy Birthday.  It isn't until Friday but when you get my age, it doesn't make much difference.  Just to be remembered is a big plus.

Kevin ~ You must be the International family.  Is your last name French?  Pronounced 'swallow'?  And your wife, her name sounds Japanese?  And you live in Japan, speak probably Japanese and English and you send your son to the US to study in English.  And then there is Jazz....  Don't get me wrong...I think your family is very unique.  Me?  I don't even know for sure where my ancestors came from.  I am just a Hoosier...born and bred...and speak Hoosier with a touch of Kentucky accent.  Hoosiers are also known to finish sentences with prepositions.  I do that quite often and know I do it but don't know how to change the words around so I don't.

Well, I got my yard mowed again yesterday.  I didn't see how I was going to fit that in the rest of the week with my busyness so it is done and away.  I finished a book and started another one.  And today I will be gone 9½ hours taking Walter and Nancy to Indiana University for him to receive Speech Therapy.  Then up early tomorrow for Kitty's surprise to me for my birthday.  I told her to surprise me as to where she is taking me.

Janet

Good morning!  Thanks so much for the advice on saving stuff in the computer.  I finally noticed yesterday the little 'save' thing in word-----DUH .  So I hit that after nearly every paragraph as I was working.  I have remembered a little more I want to add to my trip report, so I will look for the other tools then.  I really appreciate the help, I am almost computer illiterate.  Larry, if you have more to add, please do.

Etta Sue, I loved the billboard advice from God.  They had those up on billboards in Amarillo a few years ago, and I thought they were so good.  Thanks for all of your animations.  I don't know how to do, save, copy, etc. any animations.  Maybe I will feel I have time to learn them someday, but this isn't the day!

I need to go take Mom some more Reliv, Beth called yesterday to say she needs it.  I need to check on her and Beth anyway, since I have missed a couple of days.

I have been so lazy (or mixed up) lately, and haven't been exercising as I should.  The main thing I notice is, if I don't go exercize, then I want to eat---all day long  :P  And I have gained three pounds, yuck. So I MUST get back with the program.  I got up and dressed to go yesterday, and Darrel said "You aren't going to help me today?"  I had forgotten, so I went with him instead.  And this morning, I overslept, because I didn't sleep well in the night.  Darn. And...TMI.

I am off to add a little to my China thing, then I'm going to the Care home, then to Red Hats.  And tonight is church.  Always something.

Pat, I do pray you feel better today, you don't need that old flu or whatever is bugging you. Hugs.

HELP!!!  I have been working in Word again, and all at once my computer will only print in all caps!!  How did I get that, and how do I get rid of it?  Caps Lock is not pressed; I tried backspacing, getting out of Word and back in, shutting the computer down and trying again--still all caps!!  GRRRRR.  I wish I knew more about this frustrating machine.  If any of you knows what I need to do, please tell me!  Thanks.

Red Hats was nice, we had a lovely salad luncheon and good conversations.  See you later!

Hi everyone.  Have read all the comments.

Janet and Marilyn, the instructions Sue gave you is what I had written down to share when I checked the exact process.  Also hitting the save icon or "control s" often when you are working on something important is also an excellent habit to have.  Janet, I don't have a clue as to why your printer would print all in caps.  I think I would turn the computer and printer off and reboot and see if the problem presists.  Sometimes that will solve the problem if something has gone askew.

We went to Bible study at the church this morning and then Pat went to the craft group that will meet each Wednesday between now and Thanksgiving.  I went over to Dunkin' Donut with the men but just had something to drink.  Stopped at the grocery for a few items and then came home and fixed lunch for myself and mixed up some cole slaw to put in the refrigerator.  However, we are going to dinner at the church tonight and then attend another Bible study on the book of James that our associate pastor is teaching.  Then I will stay for choir practice and Pat will come on home with some friends who live close by.  That way we don't have to take two cars back this evening.

Pat, sorry to read that you are still not feeling well.  Hope by tomorrow you will be feeling much better.

I have some webwork I need to attend to so better signoff for today.

Till tomorrow.

Janet

Thanks, Larry.  It is not the printer, it is the computer when using Word that wants to do all caps.  I tried rebooting, shutting down, backspacing, everything I could think of, to no avail.  I finally called my computer guy, and he tried to help me, but his fixes didn't fix it either.  So he told me to just open a new document and finish it that way, which I did.  I have no idea what went wrong.

Now, another question:  Since this is such a large amount of data, should I not keep it in the computer?  If so, where?

Abby called and was so excited to tell me she will be being baptized this coming Sunday evening!!  So guess where Grams and Papa will be on Sunday evening???  I am so happy for and with her.  She accepted Jesus as her Saviour some time ago, but their church doesn't have a baptistry, so anyway.........they are going to use someone's hot tub for it.

See you tomorrow!

I came back to add that I have posted four more China photos.

I finally have a few minutes to get something posted for today. Thanks Sue I have emailed you the file. Ruth thanks for the info on where to find that save in the options folder.

Pat i hope you get better soon.

I am pretty disgusted with Ruth's son. He doesnt want to be part of her care. The DIL from 3 hours away is the one who interviewed me and she made  him call to tell me I was hired.

I have to meet in a few minutes with the Sister who is going to do the Women's Bible Study, We are meeting for prayer and I am going to be her helper,  getting things typed and printed up etc. Whatever she needs. She tells me that I am the only one who has volunteered to help her.

Janet save the file in the My Documents folder on your computer and you can also back it up on a CD if you want a permanent record. When you click on love and the little menu comes out  click on you CD drive, Do you have a CD-R on your computer? That is a recorder. How many CD drives do you have? I have 2 one for  recording and one for playing.
