Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

I will speak of the glorious honor of Thy majesty, and of Thy wondrous works.
Psalm 145:5

Isaac Watts (1674-1748) was very accomplished in languages.

He learned Latin at the age of 4, Greek at 9, French at 10 and Hebrew at 13!

Once he complained to his father about the phraseology of the psalms sung in church services. "Don't complain till you can do better" was the basis of the retort! He tried to do that and in the process produced over 700 hymns.

It is so easy to complain and find fault; not always so easy to do works which are better.
--Brian Powlesland

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
(Click to hear music)

May I never boast except
in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Galatians 6:14

Words: Isaac Watts

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e?er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

His dying crimson, like a robe,
Spreads o?er His body on the tree;
Then I am dead to all the globe,
And all the globe is dead to me.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

                           Well done our Soni!

Jenny

Goodmorning Folks from England.

Hi there dear Jane  :-*

Wow, Isaac Watts learning Latin before French.  These days it's the other way round isnt it...of course Latin was the language of the church in those times.

Thank-you for the beautiful hymn."Sorrow and love flow mingled down," How true at this time with all the funerals in Russia.

Last night was so hot., Even Chris was awake all through. Phew!  This morning is the same, very hot and the sky is dark and overcast.

I have seen the newsreels from Florida.  Oh dear, my heart goes out to those folks.  There was even a poor horse frantically running down the road.  I wonder if it was saved.

Forgive me not staying on long today, it is the Prayer Meeting here this afternoon and I want to tidy the house up a bit for my "sisters."

The Lord Bless and Keep you all today.
Jenny.

Woolady

Congratulations on fourth prize, Soni. As for learning and speaking another language, I have enough problems speaking this one, and it seems spelling it. I love coming and listening to the hymn and the beautiful words from the Lord. The music gets me going for the day too, thank you. May you all have a wonderful day in Christ, blessings to all. Maureen the Kiwi. ;D

Anthony

Good morning to everyone.  I haven't been listening to the news too much over the past few days, but I heard people talking about the rains in Florida.  I wonder how many lives have been affected by it?

Soni, congrats on fourth place.  It should have been first  :).

Thanks for the devotional this morning.  Sorry I am so abrupt, but thinking about you all.

Anthony.

Good Morning From Canada!

This is the last big holiday of the summer and school starts tomorrow!  Yesterday I had a lovely time with Andrew and Terena and little Rebecca and now Rebecca is so excited about getting ready for school tomorrow.

CONGRATULATIONS SONI
I really liked that photo and I thought too that it should be FIRST.  Chandraya is the perfect little Red Riding Hood.  ;o)

I hope you are getting better, Anthony.  How's your mother.  I pray daily for the two of you.  Also, how's Sammy?

Maureen, I'm so glad to see that you posted here.  I'm happy that you enjoy the music as well.  That's encouraging to know and gets us to post music more often.  Do you have any favourites?

Jenny, thinking about you as it's now afternoon in England and I pray that you'll have a wonderful little prayer meeting.

Hello to Jane and all of the rest who come here today.  Hopefully, our Janet will be home soon.  I sure miss her newsy posts.

Going to do a bit of laundry and some tidying in the garden today...

Good morning, friends,

It's supposed to be a beautiful day. I'll be back at the senior center this morning, but hope to get some things done around the house this afternoon.

Hope - hope springs eternal (especially when it's time to clean the house ::)).

Y'all have a good day.

Sonja ~ Wow!  What a picture!  Chandraya's expression alone should have gotten you a first!  Love the way you do the coloring.  All of your pictures amazes me.  You have a great eye for a fantabulous picture.

WEEEEELLLLLL~~~~ I have an opposum in the trap!!!  :o  I think I have a zoo under my deck.  Hopefully, not a Noah's Ark and they are multiplying!!!!   ::) ::)  The trap man is suppose to come later today.  We are going to fill in the holes and he is going to bring some larger rocks to put in the corners since these animals seem to like corners.  I am hoping that is the end to the 'animals under my deck' saga.

I am doing laundry and I am going to mow the grass since it is to rain this afternoon or evening.  I am hoping to go into town this afternoon today.  Just another day around here.  Nothing special.

Good Morning from  the west coast of the good old USA.

Pat thank you so much for the lovely song this morning and the devotional.

It is so good to come here in the morning and see the posts from our friends across the sea. Hello Maureen across the Pacific nice to see you here today.

Last night  I discovered that some of the meat in my freezer whas not frozen, I Had to take everything out and take it up to the church and put it in the freezer there and some stuff into the fridge. I called my landlord and he is going to replace my fridge tomorrow. I had placed  1/2 gallon of milk in the my freezer last night and it is frozen this morning but  the stuff I left in the lower fridge is not cold.  So much for the fridge.

Gloria will be arriving on the 5:16 PM flight today, please ask the Lord to give me the words to tell her that I want to cut back on my hours with her. My DIL, Sarah, has asked me to help her with on of her clients who is 92  1 or 2 days a week, for cash payment. I just cannot deal with breathing all the smoke at Gloria's and the stress. I have found someone else to pick her up for church on Sunday so I don't have to leave prayer meeting and then be late for Sunday School. I am supposed to be a the door greeting people, before Sunday school.

Hi everyone.  It is a dreary day here in Georgia and we are awaiting the heavey rains that are headed our way from the hurricane.  I heard this morning that we will have winds up to 40 miles and hour along with the rain.

The cafe where we normally have morning coffee is closed today so we had to move our retired men's group to the local McDonalds.  At least they are now brewing the coffee and it was a lot better than it used to be.

Not feeling up to par today so am just checking in this morning.

Hello all!

Bernard is off today (YEAHHHHH) and we are supposedly working on cleaning the house some.  Of course, right now he is reading to TAS and I am on the computer.  Obviously, not a lot of housecleaning going on!!

Have a great day.

Soni - that's an excellent picture!  I certainly would have given you a very high mark on it!  That little girl's pic just makes me want to give her a hug!  And that dog is really alive looking, intent on something out toward the camera (maybe you?).  Great picture!

Janet

A big hello from SW Kansas to all of you!  We got home last night around 10:30, and had a message from Beth saying that Mary was at her house.  Mary was a neighbor years ago in Boise City, Okla. and we have a history with her for all these years.  Beth worked for her in Dallas, caring for her little girl, for a few years, too.  She said she would come to Beth's party, so I told her she was a week late!  Anyway, I went over to visit with her, and came home after midnight.  When I came into the garage, an overwhelming stench hit me, and I thought, something died in here!  Whew!  Phew!  Well, I looked around and found a chicken that Darrel had laid out on Friday to thaw and cook...........and forgot about.  Ugh.  It had swollen up and burst the wrapper, dripped down onto the tile floor.......such a stench!  The dogs thought it smelled delicious, though.  ::)  Ah, the joys of life.  I was really happy that it wasn't a whole freezer full of stuff, which has happened to us before.  Always something for which to thank our loving God. :)

We had such a fun weekend!  It was a great break for me.  The "kids" (Daughter and son in law) have a Denali (SUV) and there were six of us in it, all in our K-State purple shirts  ;) along with their tailgating stuff:  really neat combo ice chest/grill; K-State camopy, food, folding chairs, our suitcases, etc.  The vehicle was packed!  We went to Curtis' apartment and met his roommate Ryan, visited a while, then went to the stadium, found our parking spot, set up the stuff, cooked and ate, visited with those around us, watched the band, etc.  It was like a big fiesta--really upbeat and fun.  Then we packed up the stuff and went into the stadium for the game, which was another new experience for me.  They were playing Western Kentucky University, whose uniforms were red and white.  I felt rather sorry for them, as there was one little spot of red in the sea of purple in the stands. ;)  The guys won the game 27-13, but it should have been a wider margin; they made some bad errors.  But, hey!  It was the season opener, and they did win!  I'm glad the kids invited us, and we enjoyed it.

Of course, getting to be with Curtis was a happy thing, and we celebrated his 21st birthday yesterday after church.  Diane had ordered him a cake from Dillons, and we went to Applebee's to eat.  He was surprised, because his actual birthday is the 16th.  It was a good weekend. ;D  TMI?  Sorry.  (Not really.)

The news from Russia is so terrible, and we will be seeing that kind of thing all over this world if we don't get the terrorists stopped.  I'm watching the news from Florida now, and that is so sad, too.  I cannot imagine going through ONE hurricane, let alone two, back-to-back........and maybe another one on the way now.  :'( :'(

Pat, thanks for missing me.  Glad someone noticed my absence.  Well, I love all of you, anyway, so there! 8)

Soni, thanks for the hug, and congrats on your winning photo.  You have such a lovely little model!

I hope to have time to work on the birthday party photos today, plus lots of other stuff going on.  Mom fell and had to have stitches while I was gone, have to go see about her again.  I'm glad Mary was here with Beth......and she did a lot of stuff for her in her house to help out.  She's always been so good that way, a real blessing.

This is turning into a book, back later with another chapter!  ;)

Hey there EVERYONE!!   ;D  Guess I'll check in for roll call this morning, too.

I have exactly nothing planned for today -- just like all the other days around here, lately.  :D

Yesterday was my granddaughter Tricia's 19th birthday.  She the oldest of Jean's two daughters and that part of the family is not too careful about keeping in touch with Grandma.  I was thinking about her and wondering how I could get in touch with her (she moved away from her father a year ago, at 18) and decided I'd try calling her sister for her phone number.  Well, I called Laura and she told me "Actually, Tricia's phone has been turned off but she's right here..." and handed the phone over.  Tricia told me she is living with a family and caring for their children.  (This is the daughter of a very good friend of Jean's so that's a good thing.) Yesterday she and her sister were at her "boyfriend's" home enjoying barbecue and then were planning to "go to Old Sacramento and just hang out."   ::)

When Laura was back on the phone I asked if she still had her dog and she informed me she'd had to get rid of her "when we moved."  Seems she and her father have moved some miles from their home in Sacramento.  I would never have known any of this if the Lord hadn't prompted me to call at just the right time yesterday.  I so love it when He does things like this.

I was just sitting here watching TV last night and two friends dropped by for a visit.  They were on the board at our church with me ... and we are still in the process of keeping the bills paid and the grass cut at the building until it is sold and turned over to the new owner.  It was another God appointment because at this particular time we are remembering the death of our Pastor Bev just a year ago.  We still need each other at times, and God knows just when those times are.

Gotta go .... someplace ..... I'll probably be back in from time to time today.  Y'all take care now, y'hear?

Hello everyone.  Just a quick note to say Thank You!  I can't stay long.  Mike has a to-do list for me.  I will be back later.

Pat~that is so very sad.  I read some of it in the paper yesterday.  God help those family's!

My Faith Looks Up To Thee
(Click to hear music)

?We live by faith, not by sight.? 2 Corinthians 5:7

Words: Ray Palmer, 1830.
Music: ?Olivet (Mason),? Lowell Mason, 1830

Ray Palmer wrote these lyrics upon receiving a vision of Christ shortly after his graduation from Yale University, while working as a tutor at a New York school. However, he kept them to himself until meeting Lowell Mason on a street in Boston, Massachusetts. When Mason asked him to write something for a new hymnal, Palmer dug out his old notes and produced these lyrics, written two years earlier. After taking the lyrics home and reading them, Mason composed this tune. Several days later he saw Palmer again and said:

You may live many years and do many good things, but I think you will be best known to posterity as the author of My Faith Looks Up to Thee.

My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary, Savior divine!
Now hear me while I pray, take all my guilt away,
O let me from this day be wholly Thine!

May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart, my zeal inspire!
As Thou hast died for me, O may my love to Thee,
Pure warm, and changeless be, a living fire!

While life?s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread, be Thou my Guide;
Bid darkness turn to day, wipe sorrow?s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray from Thee aside.

When ends life?s transient dream,
When death?s cold sullen stream over me roll;
Blest Savior, then in love, fear and distrust remove;
O bear me safe above, a ransomed soul!

-----Subject: Hot Air Balloon

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, butI don't know where I am."

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.

She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican."

"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."

The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Democrat."

"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"

"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met but, somehow, now it's my fault."
