JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

It's Thanksgiving Day in Canada!

Morning Devotional...

Be thankful unto Him...
Psalm 100:4

They glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful.
Romans 1:21

Here were a people who plunged into the very pit of degradation so that God ultimately gave them up, to wallow in the gutters of their own ungodliness, worthy of death, and bound for judgment.

How did they ever get into such a pitiable state?

Where did they begin that downward road to perdition?

"Neither were thankful"  A thankless spirit in a child produces the ingrate by whom God's blessings are taken for granted and God's greeatest Gift, His beloved Son, is despised.

Let us heed the exhortation, "In everything give thanks," and be thankful.
--J. Boyd Nicholson

Come ye thankful people come
(Click to hear music)

Come ye thankful people come,
Raise the song of harvest home!
All is safely gathered in,
Ere the winter storms begin;
God our Maker, doth provide
For our wants to be supplied:
Come to God's own temple, come,
Raise the song of harvest home.

All the world is God's own field
Fruit unto his praise to yield;
Wheat and tares together sown
Unto joy or sorrow grown;
First the blade, and then the ear,
Then the full corn shall appear;
Lord of the harvest! grant that we
Wholesome grain and pure may be.

For the Lord our God shall come,
And shall take his harvest home;
From his field shall in that day
All offenses purge away,
Give his angels charge at last
In the fire the tares to cast;
But the fruitful ears to store
In his garner evermore.

Even so, Lord, quickly come,
Bring thy final harvest home;
Gather thou thy people in,
Free from sorrow, free from sin,
There, forever purified,
in thy presence to abide;
Come, with all thine angels, come,
Raise the glorious harvest home.

Goodmorning Friends.

                            Christopher Reeve

I came downstairs and turned the radio on this morning to hear the sad news that dear Christopher Reeve has died from a heart attack.  Such a brave, loving family  man. I don't know if he was a Christian but his family supported him so wonderfully in all this time that I know they are deserving of our prayers.  May God give them comfort and reveal to them the love and mercy of Our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Another icy cold morning here in u.k. I can just glimpse the sun behind the clouds.  God is good.

Thank-you for the lovely devotional Pat.
I delivered a Harvest parcel to the vicarage last week.  It was our Harvest festival yesterday. Sadly it was too cold for me to go into church but I do thank-God for His goodness.  We are so lucky in this country to have plenty of good foods on our shelves..plenty of crops growing in the fields.  Plenty of water to drink.

                       Thank-you God for Your goodness.

Jane, hope you have a good sleep after such an eventful time. So glad you enjoyed yourself.  I am praying for a little outing for myself. ;)..been a bit shut in lately, weather conditions etc.,

Must get on, things to do.

Luv U all.
God bless.
Jenny.

:) :) :) HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY TO ALL :)  :) :)
Thanks for the Thanksgiving devotional, Pat, and for the song.  A reminder to remember just how much we have to be grateful for every day.

Blessings to all :)          kathy

Pat you are right Karma's birthday is tomorrow not today. I got ahead of myself. Sorry about that.

Kinda cold here today. It will be a busy day today. First to Gloria's, then if I can get her to got to WM's to the church for a few hours , we will have lunch there. Willa has made Potato soup for lunch. Then to Physical therapy by 3:30.

I don't think I will visit Fay today. Gas prices here have gone up to $2.49 9/10 per gallon; for $10.00 I got less than 4 gallons of gas on Friday an it is almost gone. I can't afford to be going to Eureka every day.

TTYL Must get ready for work.

Happy Thanksgiving up there,  ya'll!!!

I'm just getting ready for the day.  Can't you tell?  Sitting in front of the 'puter while Travis plays with his leapfrog (an interactive reading game thingy).

So . . .if it is slow at work, I'll try to get back in.  If not, I'll try to get in here tonight after work.  Laters!!1

Hi everyone,

Marilyn, I thought our gasoline prices were high but nothing like you are paying.  The highest we have paid so far  is $1.85.  Guess we are going to have to plan our travel more carefully to make less trips.

Carol, glad you have your high speed internet working.  Both my wife and I are now enjoying having laptops that are connected to the interent via the wireless system.  Is the music you are trying to listen to on your desktop  computer.  You should be able to use MusicMatch Jukebox to create a library on your laptop that will simply find the music files on your desktop and play them.  I have it set up that way on both my laptop and Pat's desktop.  Hope Don can get some relief from the doctor today.

Happy Thanksgiving to all living in Canada.  Enjoy the turkey.

Not much new here today.  I am awaiting the call from my Kaiser doctor but have no other items on my agenda today.  Hope everyone has a good day.

Larry

Good morning.....another sunny day in Indiana.  This is getting to be boring!!!!

It is nice and cool.  Only 47 degrees F.  They are picking the corn west of me so dust is flying everywhere.

My GPS quit working yesterday.  I have tried everything to get it going again.  It is like I am in a metal building and it can't search for a satellite.  I have a call into Magellan in California...they are to return my call.

Also suppose to go with Ivalou this afternoon.  She had some problems with the coolant light coming on and having to add antifreeze to her car while in Ohio last weekend.  So she is taking her car to the dealership and then we will stop at Kroger's for groceries.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO MY CANADIAN FRIENDS!!!!
That's it for today.  Oh, yes!  So sad about Christopher Reeves.  He was giving so much hope to others.  I know he was an advocate for Stem-cell research but what upset me most is he could have gotten treatment overseas but if he came back to America he could have been arrested for getting the treatment overseas.  Something is wrong with that picture.

Janet said I should post this email I received in CP.  So here goes.

This was originally written by Jerry Sower's minister in Piqua, Ohio.  When I received the email, I thought....I wonder if Jerry knows this minister and was I surprised and so was he that it was the minister of the church he attended when he lived in Piqua.

I think it is worth reading....

By Paul Jetter,
Columnist Piqua Daily Call
Piqua, Ohio, August 2004

My son worked this summer in Washington, D.C. A friend of his works for Laura Bush in the White House. She planned an event for the award winners of a program called "Preserve America." One of the award winners sent back an email about his experience during the time he was in the Oval Office to be recognized. I would like to share part of his email with you.

"On our way out of the office we were to leave by the glass doors on the west side of the office. I was the last person in the exit line.

“As I shook his hand one final time ... I then did something that surprised even me. I said to him, 'Mr. President, I know you are a busy man and your time is precious. I also know you to be a man of strong faith and I have a favor to ask you.'

“As he shook my hand he looked me in the eye and said, 'Just name it.’

"I told him that my step-Mom was at that moment in a hospital having a tumor removed from her skull and it would mean a great deal to me if he would consider adding her to his prayers that day.

“He grabbed me by the arm and took me back toward his desk as he said, 'So that's it. I could tell that something is weighing heavy on your heart today. I could see it in your eyes. This explains it.'

“From the top drawer of his desk he retrieved a pen and a note card with his seal on it and asked, 'How do you spell her name?’

“He then jotted a note to her while discussing the importance of family and the strength of prayer. When he handed me the card, he asked about the surgery and the prognosis. I told him we were hoping that it is not a recurrence of an earlier cancer and that if it is they can get it all with this surgery.

“He said, 'If it's okay with you, we'll take care of the prayer right now. Would you pray with me?'

“I told him yes and he turned to the staff that remained in the office and hand motioned the folks to step back or leave.

“He said, 'Bruce and I would like some private time for a prayer.'

”As they left he turned back to me and took my hands in his. I was prepared to do a traditional prayer stance standing with each other with heads bowed. Instead, he reached for my head with his right hand and pulling gently forward, he placed my head on his shoulder. With his left arm on my mid back, he pulled me to him in a prayerful embrace. He started to pray softly. I started to cry. He continued his prayer for Loretta and for God's perfect will to be done. I cried some more. My body shook a bit as I cried and he just held tighter. He closed by asking God's blessing on Loretta and the family during the coming months.

“I stepped away from our embrace, wiped my eyes, swiped at the tears I'd left on his shoulder, and looked into the eyes of our President.  I thanked him as best I could and told him that my family and I would continue praying for him and his family. He has a pile of incredible stuff on his plate each day and yet he is tuned in so well to the here and now that he 'sensed' something heavy on my heart. He took time out of his life to care, to share, and to seek God's blessing for my family..."

What a lesson for us all! In our busy world it is so easy to tell people we will pray for them and then forget all about it. How much better would it be if we took a moment and prayed with them right then.

The Bible says we are to "Pray continually" l Thessalonians 5:17). I don't think that means to be always on our knees, but instead to be in tune with those around us and always ready to take their needs to our Heavenly Father.

Hey, Jerry!!!  Why don't you comment on this post??!!!  Stop your lurking and type a message!!!!

Carol

I was reading posts about an hour ago and Don had to make some phone calls so lost my train of thought - much too easy these days.  He called and the VA clinic is closed for Columbus Day.

Larry:  Thanks for the information on MusicMatch - I will check it out.  Our son has high-speed and wireless at his "cabin" - of course, they use the place virtually every weekend and he can work online there as well.  He can cut down and tree and then come inside and do office work.  Don did call and the VA was closed but he will wait until tomorrow & get through hopefully.

Jenny:  We like to sleep with warm covers and icy cold in the room.  Sorry to hear that the weather is so chilly that it is difficult for you to get out and about.  I will pray for you to have a little vacation of some kind - a warmer day for you.  Wish I could send you some of our sunshine as we have plenty to go around.

Etta Sue:  I will update my info for you one of these days - the GPS sounds interesting.  Carol

Janet

Howdy, Y'all!   ;D

I went to swim this morning and watched the sunrise from the pool--or would have, if the clouds weren't covering it.  It seems strange how dark it is now at 7:15 AM, but soon the time will go back to "normal" and it will be lighter at that time.  My arms have been hurting, or rather, my shoulders, so I used fins to give my legs more of a workout, and swam 20 laps (5/8) mile instead of my usual half mile.

It is raining here, just a slow, gentle rain, supposed to keep it up for a couple of days, making us very happy that we got the trailer into the garage on Saturday.  Darrel has to back it up a pretty steep, grassy slope, and when it's wet, it just doesn't work!

Beth needs me to take her little dog to the vet, she has bare spots on her head which could possibly be mange.  :(  I also need to get her prescription for sleep aid filled, along with my own meds.  Chores!  But so glad I am able to do stuff.  I know it's hard for her to have to call me for everything.  She said the home health gal was here at 8:30 to help her.  I think that is such a blessing!  ;D

Today is my sweet husband's 67th birthday!  And he is working!  I asked him if he wanted me to bake him a cake, and he said not unless it is a cupcake.  Since I have no idea how to make ONE cupcake, guess I will see if the grocery store has them.  We had planned to take the kids to dinner tonight to celebrate his birthday, but they have other plans.

I am not responding at this time to everyone's posts, but I do read all of them.  I will likely be back to do that later.  Have a blessed day!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL YOU CANADIANS!!  WE ARE SO HAPPY YOU ARE OUR NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS!

Good morning folks!  A sunny, but cool, day here.

Etta Sue, that is really beautiful. Can you imagine the president of the United States stopping everything, caring, and praying for one person?  This is great.

I've been printing out info on things to do for the puppies.....for motor skills, socialization, etc.  We're doing the loving and handling part, but I didn't know you do things like turn the upside down, put them in a cold room,  pinch between the toes.(?)  Guess I'd better get busy.  We have a lady who wants a girl, so little sister will have a new home the first of November.  That will leave two girls , two boys.

Have a blessed day everyone.

Jerry L. Sowers

Etta Sue~ I am here, but as you have said (Lurking).

Paul Jetter is a good man and his wife Mary is also a good woman. I belonged to their church when I was in Piqua, Ohio. His writings in the papers and his being on our local station (ch-13) was the reason for my going to his church. He preaches from the Bible. He is to be believed. The church is growing. The building was added to last year and before it is over, it will be mamouth.

I want to Thank Judy for sending that e-mail to Etta Sue. I was surprised to see Paul's name on it and to know it had made it to Canada.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving Day Canada.

Etta Sue

I fixed Reply 12 so it is easier to read if you would like to go back and read it.  Thank you all!!!

Larry, yes the UT - Georgia game was good.  I had to leave before it was over but later at the funeral home where we were visiting a man came in who reported on the outcome.  I enjoy the high speed wireless connection too.

Yesterday we had an especially busy day at church.  We had the beginning of a four day marriage seminar.  We were there for two sessions yesterday morning and for two sessions last night.  I got a good nap yesterday afternoon but never did get to CP.

Judy Mc, I hope you and our other Canadian members  have as Happy Thanksgiving .

Jenny, we were also sadden to learn this morning of the death of Christopher Reeve.  He was a good man who faced his situation with courage and in a way which made him a hero to be admired.

Marilyn, sorry about the high cost of gasoline there.  We are paying  $1.95 here.  The other day I filled up and it cost me over $25.00.  I guess we all are going to have to watch how much we drive.

Jerry, it is good to see you today.  I hope you are getting along well.  It was about this time last year I had a brush with death and it has made me realize how fragile life is.  It is true that “This world is not my home.  I’m just a passing through.”

James 4:13-15
13   Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14   Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15   For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.  (KJV)

Hello to everyone on this very sunny but cool &  beautiful Thanksgiving Day.

We are going to have dinner with Sue which  will be ham with all the trimmings, We were to pick Aunt Jean up and take her along as well but with her having a cold she felt it best she stay home and rest. But she did request that we eat extra for her.

Etta Sue - I was absolutely overwhelmed by that email concerning our president's actions.  I was overwhelmed with thanksgiving!  Oh may he be reelected!  I read the entire email to my wife, and it was all I could do to make it through without tears (I didn't make it!).  Thank You, Father, for Your extreme mercy to give us this man as our president!

Janet

Papa John, we are so thankful that you are still with us one year after your close call.  I always say, when I am somewhere I might rather not be "I'd rather be here than in the best hospital in the country!"  But I do thank God for good doctors and good hospitals, I may need them some day, too.

Beth's little dog does have the mange.  Not the worst kind, but still will be troublesome to get rid of it.  She has to give her oral medication every day for a month, then take her back for more skin scrapings to see if the mites are still there, then possibly another month of treatments.  It is a bit expensive, and on her income, she really can't afford it, but she loves her dog so much, what can you do?

I agree that we are so blessed to have a man of God as our president.  This isn't the first account I have read of him taking time to pray with someone in need.  His compassion and faith are an example to the rest of us.  While I do not agreee with everything he does, I think he is doing the best he can with the information he has.  And I don't even agree with my husband 100% of the time---maybe not even with myself!  ;D

My computer is giving me problems, very frustrating.  I am having to restart it several times to get it to come on, and today my mouse refused to move the curser.  I should have had Curtis check it over Saturday, but didn't want him to have to spend all his time doing stuff for me, I wanted to just enjoy having him here, which I did.

Several Christian organizations are urging all Christians in this country (and others who care about the USA) to pray each day at 8 AM, about the coming elections, even if only for a minute or two.  I am praying all through the day, every few minutes.  May the men and women God wants in office win.

I am working on some of Darrel's pants which are too long, have holes in the pockets, etc., so I'd better get back to that.  The help people from the internet called and interrupted me, that's why I'm here now.

Greetings from cloudy Vancouver Island.  We had our Thanksgiving Turkey yesterday, so things are quiet today.  I went for a walk to the mall, (25 min. each way) bought some bread, had a coffee, took a couple of pictures along the way.  No bright sunshine, so not certain how good they will be.  Must talk Wendy into taking me out in the car and into the gorgeous countryside.

Still trying to sort things out with Squeek and Misty.  Squeek has been angry because she has to go through a cat door now in order to come and go in my place.  This is to preserve the heat in cold weather as they don't heat the office (off my suite).  Only warm when in use and not at night...brrrr!!  Finally have succeeded in teaching her and she is using it today.  Also mad about Misty being in the garage and my going back and forth to feed her, etc.  Misty stays out lots during the day now.  Gad!  It is easy to see why there is so much trouble trying to maintain world peace..... :(

Nice email about Pres. Bush, Etta Sue.  Agree Janet and I have been praying about the matter.  Hope Christians around the world will take a minute to also consider the seriousness of this election and pray that God will have the deciding vote.

I am now going to re-install my Norton's Security as it won't load WMI update, despite my trying all their fuzzy instructions.  Have 2004 version, bought in July, and do not plan to update when months of use still paid for!  Otherwise, will simply not update that particular thing....whatever it is.  Do you know Larry or anyone....?

Pleasant day all and God Bless.

Liz

Janet......a most profound statement. "I don't even agree with my husband 100% of the time---maybe not even with myself!  ".  I love it.    :D

Hoping all the Canadians are having, or had, a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.

Blessings, Nita

Sue

I had an enjoyable dinner with my parents and daughter.  There were sufficient leftovers that I was able to send home two dinners for my daughter and my parents were also going to be dropping off two dinners to Aunt Jean who was absent because of illness.

My scoliosis flared up yesterday and I spent most of the day lying down.  I am thankful for a partner who did the cooking of ham, scalloped potatoes, squash, turnip, peas, pumpkin tarts and apple pie.  I am thankful for a daughter and father who cleaned up after the meal.  And last but never least, thankful for a mother and family who love me.

;D   GREAT NEWS!  BONZ IS BACK!!!!!!   ;D
A neighbor had found him and was keeping him.  Doesn't read the newspaper, and doesn't use the washateria.  Wasn't looking at the pictures I'd posted on the mail house.  So she and her 3 kids had had him for 1-1/2 weeks.  Said he was well behaved!  Guess he didn't poop outside the box at her house!  hahah
Thanks for all your prayers!
