Morning Devotional...
Jesus is Alive!
John 20:1-18 NLT
Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, "They have taken the Lord's body out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have put him!"
Peter and the other disciple started out for the tomb. They were both running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he didn't go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus' head was folded up and lying apart from the other wrappings. Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed—for until then they still hadn't understood the Scriptures that said Jesus must rise from the dead. Then they went home.
Mary was standing outside the tomb crying, and as she wept, she stooped and looked in. She saw two white-robed angels, one sitting at the head and the other at the foot of the place where the body of Jesus had been lying. "Dear woman, why are you crying?" the angels asked her.
"Because they have taken away my Lord," she replied, "and I don't know where they have put him."
She turned to leave and saw someone standing there. It was Jesus, but she didn't recognize him. "Dear woman, why are you crying?" Jesus asked her. "Who are you looking for?"
She thought he was the gardener. "Sir," she said, "if you have taken him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will go and get him."
"Mary!" Jesus said.
She turned to him and cried out, "Rabboni!" (which is Hebrew for "Teacher").
"Don't cling to me," Jesus said, "for I haven't yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"
Mary Magdalene found the disciples and told them, "I have seen the Lord!" Then she gave them his message.

Jesus' resurrection is the key to the Christian faith. Why?
(1) Just as he said, Jesus rose from the dead. We can be confident, therefore, that he will accomplish all he has promised.
(2) Jesus' bodily resurrection shows us that the living Christ, not a false prophet or imposter, is ruler of God's eternal Kingdom.
(3) We can be certain of our own resurrection because Jesus was resurrected. Death is not the end--there is a future life.
(4) The divine power that brought Jesus back to life is now available to bring spiritually dead people back to life.
(5) The Resurrection is the basis for the church's witness to the world.
When you go to church on Easter Sunday, rejoice in what the Resurrection means to you.

As usual, church was awesome...especially so on Easter Sunday. Our church had 9 services today...3 for traditional church...3 for conservative church...3 for kids church. Lots of people. And there were baptisms at 11:30am for new believers.
I was planning to go to Taco Bell but they let their employees off for Easter Sunday. I noticed all the fast food restaurants were closed. Thank God. But a family restaurant was open so I went in there and had breakfast. Then to WalMart for three things....and I left with just three things :o I did get to talk with a friend. We were best friends and co-workers years ago. Great to see her and her husband.
Now I am home. I didn't get to sleep until way after midnight last night so I feel a nap coming on.

I haven't had ANY chocolate today, Etta Sue. :D
It truly has been a wonderful Easter. It's good to talk with all of my children and to give them my love. And, it was wonderful to be with both of my sets of lunch buddies - to accommodate to both, I ate 2 veggies at one restaurant and enjoyed chatting with my church bunch, then I dashed down to Franklin (about 20 miles away) and finished by having chopped steak and mashed potatoes with them.
When I take the time at Easter to contemplate the fact that Jesus Himself gave His life for my sins, I am overwhelmed with the sense of His love for me.
Much love to all.
Ruth Ann
happy easter!

Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection?
The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face
of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave clothes. The Bible takes an entire
verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded and was placed at the head of that
stony coffin.
Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and
found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon
Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, 'They have taken the
Lord's body out of the tomb, and I don't know where they have put him!' Peter and the
other disciple ran to the tomb to see. The other disciple out ran Peter and got there
first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in.
Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying
there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus' head was folded up and lying to the side. John 20: 1-7
Is that important? Absolutely! Is it really significant? Yes!
In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand
a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day. The folded napkin had to do with the
Master and Servant, and every Jewish boy knew this tradition. When the servant set
the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master
wanted it. The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just
out of sight, until the master had finished eating. The servant would not dare touch
the table until the master was finished. Now if the master was done eating, he would
rise, wipe his fingers and mouth with the napkin and toss it on to the table. The
servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin
meant, 'I'm done.' But if the master got up from the table, folded his napkin and
laid it beside his plate, the servant knew that the folded napkin meant, 'I'm not
finished yet.' The folded napkin meant, 'I'm coming back!'
I thought the above was interesting. Hope you like it.
HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY TO ALL OF YOU!! We got up at 5:30, prepared breakfast for our guests, had a nice visit, saw them off toward home, then watched our usual Sunday morning church programs, showered and dressed, went to Sunday School and church. Diane called and invited us down for lunch, so we went, and got to see all the kids before they left to go back to home, work and college. Now I really feel like taking a nap, but since it's already after six, will try to stay awake now and go to bed early. :P
Etta Sue, good words from the Good Book today. Thanks. Easter is the most important holiday of the entire year, for without it, we have no hope of forgiveness of sins or eternal life in heaven.
Have a great evening!
We had an amazing day at church yesterday. I thought I had heard the resurrection story from the point of view of everyone there in the bible. Well our pastor dressed (as clossely as possible) to a Roman soldier told the resurrection story from the point of view of the soldier guarding the grave. WOW is all I can say. Can you imagine how he felt, the fear which caused him to pass out? It was an amazing rendition. One young girl (15) accepted Christ as her Saviour on Sunday. Isn't that what it is all about? Heaven was rejoicing!
I am at work, no holiday for store workers. That is ok. I do enjoy the work. Janet take care.
Well we have figured out the reason fo the barking of dear young Gyp. Two girls ready to be bred, just out of his reach. We moved the girls upstairs, and he was quiet all night. Thankfully a good night's sleep.
Well better get going. Love to all
JudyB
Hi everyone. We also had a very nice Easter service and the church was full, which is so nice to see from the vantage point of the choir. Our pastor preached a very strong sermon yesterday and the choir did three pieces of music. The anthem was very short as it was from the Messiah "Since by Man Came Death". It is a very powerful piece of music. Following church one other couple went with us to have lunch at City Slickers and we had the turkey and dressing dinner they had on the menu. It wasn't my favorite meal but my wife thought it was good.
Today at 12:30 our birthday bunch is meeting at Red Lobster for lunch to celebrate the birthday of one of our group. I have already been to coffee and we walked at the gym. I believe the walking is helping as today I was able to walk 10 rounds without having to rest and did that twice and then the final 5. I don't have anything else planned for the rest of the day.
Nice to see that you all had nice Easter services. It is another beautiful but cool day here in Georgia. We have freeze warnings out for tonight.
We also had a good Easter service. If you want to know what my preacher preached, just read what Etta Sue posted above. It's not exact, but pretty close. :)
Hope all of you have a wonderful week!
Yea! I'm home today! Up early and did some reading, got the laundry going, made breakfast, watched Living the Life and the 700 Club, now here I am, and when I get this done I'm going to do some cropping of photos for our family album, as I want to have it caught up for the reunion. These are the pictures I took at the last reunion.
When my foster brother Don was visiting with Mom, she said she would love to have a "mess of brown beans and corn bread." So I have beans soaking, will cook them this afternoon and take her and Beth supper tonight. Funny that she never told me she was hungry for that. :-\
I'm going to help my friend Pat do the ladies' nails at Park View this afternoon. then tomorrow, our Red Hat ladies are going to dress up and entertain the ladies at the Care Home, bringing extra hats, etc. for them. So I do have some things besides work to do this week. ;)
Pat, is Paul still there? Hope you're both enjoying the time together a lot!

I have been thinking of a funny that Danny told in church yesterday. Danny's little girl, Katie Grace, will be four in May. She attends kids church.
Danny wondered what they teach in kids church so last week (Palm Sunday), Danny asked Katie Grace what she learned in church.
Katie Grace said 'I learned that people yelled and cheered when Jesus rode a colt into town!'
Danny said he was surprised that she learned that and remembered it for a whole hour! He said 'That is right, Katie Grace. What else did you learn?'
Katie Grace said 'They were carrying pom-poms while yelling and cheering Jesus!'
So now Danny says when he thinks of Jesus entering Jerusalem on a colt he will see all the people with pom-poms cheering Jesus.
What a beautiful day today here in Indiana. Bright and sunny! Trash day. I went outside to take my trash and promptly came back in and put on a heavier coat...it was 30°F. Brrrr. But after taking my trash I went to Ivalou's to hear how her Easter Day was. Now I am home and drinking my coffee and still enjoying the sunshine from the inside and listening to the fan on my solar heat. It is still only 36°F...cool for the end of March. Come on Spring! tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la

The island is once again COLD! We had lots of rain, mixed with snow on Sunday and this morning zero C temp. at my door. Poor little flowers that are trying to survive in the garden....Rain for the rest of this week, if forcast is correct. We know that only happens when it is accidental... ;)
I am waiting for the 'something-or other people' to come and put in a new countertop and sink, etc. in the bathroom and laundry room. Then they go upstairs to do two more bathrooms. Week 3 of this horrible update....3 more to go. I have to pack everything up for the painters in my suite this week...what fun.
Guess this makes me sound like a real old grump who doesn't appreciate the finer things in life. Things were fine before...Understand that this is a valueable home and must be kept as such....simply can't relate to the obsession about material things that now exists in our world. Not that the kids are that way....future buyers will be. The cost of this update is as much as they paid for their first house in 1981. Something is wrong with that picture :(
I enjoyed the service from People's Church on Sunday and it is almost as good as being at a real church. Tried a few minutes of Hour Of Power and was not impressed with the obvious waste of money and resources. Guess people like it tho' as the place was packed. It seems a number of churches have resorted to bribery to induce folks to attend services. Read about one church that is giving a .25c reduction on gas to attract.... ::)
Marilyn, don't give up hope about future marriage. The paper recently showed a 88 yr. old couple who got married in their care home. Seems they sit side by side at their computers and play games. Good thing they learned about computers....!
I think the sun just came out. Must run and have a look.
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Must be time for me to post I don't see one from me on this page. Please pray for our only local podiatrist Dr. John Fjerstad, Sarah works there. She told me yesterday that he is having surgery tomorrow on his lower back. He has a crushed vertebrae wan down low and it is crushing a nerve. They are hoping not to find a lot of nerve damage when they get in there. She also told me that he has a melanoma returning on the side of his Jaw that will also need attention. He had a lot of the tissue removed during his last year of medical school but all the tissue that was removed was full of cancer. He is 40 yrs old and has 4 children he is a Mormon. Sarah ask to put him on the prayer chain.
Hi Everyone, Would those of you who have Skype please email me your Skype ID's I redownloaded Skype nd they didn't give me back my list. I don't want to put my ID on here.
The only "gifts" given at church yesterday were the usual packets for new attendees, containing information about service times, beliefs, etc. So I do not consider those to be bribes. Where did this awful idea come from, anyway? I think it is shameful. A little gift for new people, given each time a new person comes, I think is fine, but not a big thing just for coming on Easter!!
I enjoyed doing manicures at the assisted living today. One sweet lady I was doing told me that was her very first manicure in all of her 85 years!! She was so thrilled, and that just made my day. This is a voluntary thing we do, just because. :)
I took the beans and cornbread to Mom and Beth, asked for bowls from the kitchen and poured the beans into them. I had buttered their cornbread at home---anyway, the other lady at their table was looking at their food, so I asked her if she liked beans and cornbread. Her eyes lit up and she said YES! I was very happy there was enough to share with her, too. This lady is only about 55, but disabled from a stroke, and is usually very depressed, so to coax a smile from her is a treat!
I'm going to watch Dancing with the Stars with Darrel. See you later!
Don is a wee bit better with his week-long cold but still feeling tired.
I went to see 3/4 of the family for Easter and we had about 4 in. of snow Easter morning but the streets were fine. Feel sorry for all who have to work on Easter and Christmas - there were a few jobs I had that entailed working any day of the week.
The politics in this country are really getting shameful with people lashing out and saying such terrible things about each other. They are sounding desperate.
Larry: A fabric exchange would be fun. I don't have a lot of fabric, as compared to many of the quilters I know. My extra yardage often is put into the church quilts that go into Lutheran World Relief. I could do more but often look at the pattern and think that maybe this can be used later.
Mucked out closets today and netted a van load of stuff for Goodwill this time. Some exercise equipment that was barely used. Oh, the waste of time and money on such silly things.
Hi, friends,
It was a good day today, even though we scheduled my thumb surgery. It's on April 15, so I guess I MUST file my income tax prior to THAT date! ^-^
Things went smoothly at work, and then I got a phone call from a close friend who invited me to meet their family at a nice buffet restaurant.
I went, only to learn that it was her birthday! So, this will call for a recurring reminder on my calendar, and also, for this year, a belated birthday card! It was so great to be included with the family. They treat me just like a family member, but I really sensed their love tonight, since I was the only nonfamily member there. How sweet of her to call.
And, thanks be to God, my son had a good day today, too. Those are so rare that it's a real matter of thanksgiving when they occur.
Janet, I've been craving some dry beans, too. so, will likely start them in the crockpot one night this week. Yum, yum!
Y'all have a good rest of the day.
We're home!
We hurried to church yesterday morning and then immediately following the morning service, we headed off to Ohio to visit with Paul's daughter. What a lovely time.
Then we left for home stopping in at an administrator from Photography Cafe's home. It was so nice to see him and his wife this evening.
For those who might be interested, this is a collage that Paul put together.
He brought me lovely roses when he came last Saturday night and then he had taken a photo of the ring in it's box and then one of my finger after he put it on.

Paul really knows how to please a woman and has very good taste!!
Today is the day that Kitty and I are taking our photo entries to Kokomo. I need to find an electronic place and purchase a new mouse. I cleaned my mouse and now it sticks. And to put the graphic above, it didn't want to highlight very well. So I will probably have a new mouse before I get home this evening.
And yes, Kitty and I will find some place to eat...maybe twice, depending on what time we get home.
It is cold...I was hoping for warmer weather...shirt-sleeve weather. And it is windy! 34°F with wind....Brrrrr! "++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++"

Hi everyone. I was alone at the cafe this morning as one of my friends, who is Eastern Orthodox had church this morning and my friend Rod was helping at the Computer Learning Center as today is registration. He asked me to go with him but I declined as have a meeting this morning. I spent a short time at the cafe and then went to the gym and walked my 25 laps. For some reason the walking today has left me feeling tired but know the walking is very good for me and I will regain my energy after resting awhile. Not much else on the schedule today.
Pat, what a beautiful ring and the roses are lovely. Those are wonderful photos. It is nice that Paul is interested in photography as you are. It seems you both have so many things in common.
Etta Sue, I strongly suggest you consider a mouse with the laser light as they don't have to be cleaned and I don't even have to use a mouse pad, just a solid surface.
Judy, it sounds like you will be very busy today. Hope you also have a wonderful day.
Ruth Ann, good friends mean so much in our lives. We had our birthday group monthly luncheon at Red Lobster yesterday at noon and, as usual, we had a wonderful time of sharing and laughter. We had 13 there yesterday. We are always welcoming to new folks to join with us.
Carol, Pat was showing me and telling me about a new technique she has learned so that when she sews strips together and cuts them into the blocks she ends up with small blocks as well. That just confirmed my suspicion that the fabric keeps growing. She doesn't waste any of it and has it stored in numerous places over the house. Our dining room has become a fabric room as well as boxes under beds and her own sewing room. Her best friend, who worked in a quilting store for several years, has even more fabric and often gives Pat something that she may need for a pattern. Hope Don is soon feeling better.
Janet, our church has a welcome center as people come into the church and we give folks a little box of chocolate heats on their first visit. I think there are four in a box. It seems like a nice gesture of friendship. I remember that some of the program staff a the nursing home where mother was would do the ladies nails and they also had a beauty shop and mother had her hair done once a week. My sister was there everyday and kept a good eye on things and made sure mother had nice clothes to wear. I will never forget the kind people that were working in the nursing home and am thankful that there was a Christian run nursing home available in the little town in Iowa where my sister lives.
Marilyn, I am sure the podiatrist will have a few very painful days. Hope the operation is a success. The melanoma is certainly a troublesome thing to face.
Liz, I hope you all decide after the work is done that it was worth it. I know it is a real hassle for everyone.
Hi Karmat and all that visit CP today.

Ohhh, Judy, thanks! Paul was a photographer before me! (LOL)
Thank you everyone for the nice comments!
We had a lovely weekend both here in Guelph and also then in Ohio with Linda, Paul's daughter and her family. For me it was as if we'd known each other forever and not meeting for the first time.
Good Morning: Lovely ring and beautiful roses Pat.
Just getting ready for work here I have a appointment with my Opthalmoligist this afternoon.
I will be back this afternoon after the eye dr.
Pat - that's beautiful! The ring and flowers are so expressive. It's obvious to me that our Lord has indeed chosen this man for you! Oh He is so gracious and merciful!
Paul is indeed a good photographer as well! Paul - you had better get in here and post some photos!
Well, at 1PM today I'm supposed to get shot while under fluroscopy so that the doc can see exactly where he's putting it. Please pray it'll work very, very well.
Al, I do pray the shot works wonders for you!
Carol, you stay busy all the time, don't you? Sort of remind me of someone who lives in this house! ;)
Larry, I know I wouldn't linger long over coffee by myself, either. Hope you feel great after you rest a bit.
Pat, what beautiful roses!! And what a lovely ring, too! I can't wait to see it up close and personal. :) Nice that Paul enjoys photography, too, and we all pray that the two of you have such a wonderful life together. You deserve it!
The housekeeper is here, and I have her mopping the kitchen floor, then she will clean mirrors. She has really improved since the first day, and now accomplishes quite a lot in the two hours allowed. I'm thankful for that.
When I used to do a lot of sewing, it seemed the fabric accumulated really fast! But I used to be able to make the kids' garments out of pretty small scraps, so none was wasted. Guess I'm too "Scotch" to throw much of anything away. But I am getting better in that department; now I can throw away stuff that I no longer have need of, or give it to someone who can use it. That's a good feeling and I wish it had come years earlier.
I have done some cleaning, caught up here, done my ironing, so my day is off to a good start! Also watched my programs while ironing. YEA for me! :D ;D
See you later.
Pat: Congratulations - a beautiful ring and roses to add to the beauty.
It seems that so many of us enjoy the same things Peoples Church , Crystal Cath. and even dancing with the stars.
Here it is back to work for another week Hubby & I went to Orio's for breakfast and we had the pleasure of meeting a couple of friends. he drove school bus and his new wife of 9yrs played organ at the church many yrs ago, when I say new wife his first left us very suddenly due to illness.
Today the weather was ok but now we are getting snow and by rush hour it is to be windy and either snow or rain in our part I understand it is to be snow.
Ruth
Beautiful roses and ring, Pat! It is wonderful for both of you.
Yes, Ruth. We do enjoy many of the same things and I also like Dancing With The Stars. Enjoy 'Jerico' and my daughter and I are sad it will end this week. Seems as if when a show is good, they always find a reason to cancel. ::)
The painters will not be down in my place until Monday, so have a little peace until the weekend. Then will have to pack everything and take down pictures, etc. My daughter hopes the hardwood floors will be easier to maintain. Her husband does not like having a lady come in to help.... :( I expect they will soon have to sell and get a smaller place, without a 1/2 acre garden. My granddaughter never helps and this person is only able to do easy things now. That is the reason for all this happening. Will simply have to trust God to work all this stuff out, I am too tired.
Squeek is once again downstairs with me and not feeling happy. So I am going to spend time spoiling her while watching my curling. Good old curling...Canada is doing well at this point in time.
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
its a beautiful day ot up early went to school now i'm home wih the windows open trying to clean :( not my strong suit cuz i am never home to do so i procastinate about it a lot! anyways off to be elsewhere got lots to ttyl
Sarah
Well my day is nearly over. I am just taking a quick break then finishing packaging the materials for a quilting project. I am learning so much about quilting. I will join this class, and looking forward to it.
Sarah cleaning is a necessary job, do a fast thorough job and you will be finished for another week.
Must run
God Bless JudyB
Well, here I am at last .... I've been out and about all day and just now getting here to see the beautiful ring and roses for Pat from Paul ... I am so happy for you both. As someone already said: you have so much in common and it really seems as though God brought you together for His glory -- and your happiness! (I read Paul's description, of how you got together, on SN). Again, I say a hearty CONGRATULATIONS!
Jane, could you post a link to that post on SN? I go there a lot to read, have not seen the post by Paul.
Spending time on the computer today as sort of a little ill. Also all alone as even the painters have left.
SNet is a wonderful place to spend time. So many interesting folks and it is nice to feel close to what is happening in other lives. I rarely post....sort of lurk like you do, Jane!
God Bless,
Liz
Good Evening folks. I can finally see better after the dilation has reversed. Good news from the Eye Doctor. No change in distance, 25/20 in both eyes. I will still be using the OTC Dollar store magnifying glasses at +250 for reading and +200 for the computer. The cataract is still the same small little thing. So it is all good :thumbs up:
I took the dogs out for long walks even with my eyes still dilated, that was fun. I baked ¼ turkey in my crockpot and had some with steamed broccoli for supper. mmm that was good. I put some of the juice onthe dogs kibble and they sure enjoyed that.
Thanks Larry for the email and the info. I will do that.

SNet is a wonderful place to spend time. So many interesting folks and it is nice to feel close to what is happening in other lives. I rarely post....sort of lurk like you do, Jane!
God Bless,
Liz
Liz, I guess since it was posted on such a big public site it wouldn't be wrong to put the link here. It all began, in Photos Then & Now, when Pat was eagerly awaiting Paul's trip to Guelph with the "wee box" in his pocket. That was the 13th. She began with the tease about becoming a resident of Virginia soon..... ;) Of course, that peaked everyone's curiosity and the questions and speculations began. There are 3-4 pages of comments, photos and well wishes from everyone beginning (just prior to) here:http://www.seniornet.org/jsnet/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=4502.580 (http://www.seniornet.org/jsnet/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=4502.580)If you want to read just Paul's post it is here:http://www.seniornet.org/jsnet/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=4502.640 (http://www.seniornet.org/jsnet/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=4502.640)BTW ... we discussed the idea of "lurking" a long time ago at the International Cafe at SN. My opinion is that I am only "observing" .... ;)
I have met many of the people at SN and, as Pat wrote about Paul's daughter, it always seems as if we've known each other for a long time. I think that's because we "talk" back and forth on the message board in our posts. (I used to be very chatty there and everyone knew who Jaywalker was, for sure!) :-\ :-[ :D
Jane, I'm glad you read my post on SeniorNet. For those here who never saw it, here's a copy of what I posted on SeniorNet...
WOULD YOU LIKE TO HEAR ABOUT HOW I MET THIS PAT FRIEND OF YOURS?? March 14, 2008
In the USA news this week was an interesting three lines:
"Obama gets a little tough on the Clintons, asking why he should be #2 when he's #1 in delegates and states. The Clintons always get their way in the Democrat Party. That's one of the traditions Obama's trying to change."* * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Those lines came to mind as I woke up this morning in thinking about how this very special friend you all seem to have as witnessed by me last night in all your comments; I thought some or many of you might be interested as to how she has come to be #2 in my life. For some reason that doesn't sound quite right in many folks thinking, but I have to say that after knowing my Creator personally over the last 61 years of my life, I have found that His ways are often UPSIDE DOWN from my thinking!!
Well, I went out on a limb to as my search for a wife by asking my Sunday School teacher in the sixties and older class, as to what he would do if his wife had gone home to Glory as the result of cancer. He said without hesitation, "I'd go look on a Christian singles internet site?"
After I picked myself up off the floor his suggestions really made sense. - - - I decided that this woman had to be very special because I decided to make the requirements pretty strict as I didn't plan to fool around and if God didn't have that kind of a women out there I agreed that it is better single than disappointed.
If you would like to read about what I wrote in my profile for her to respond to, I've put it here at my other web site with these links:
- Essay Questions and Answers (http://pahalbach.photography-cafe.com/gallery/albums/userpics/Profile-1a-web.jpg)
- Favorite Activities (http://pahalbach.photography-cafe.com/gallery/albums/userpics/Profile-1b-web.jpg)
- Previous Relationships (http://pahalbach.photography-cafe.com/gallery/albums/userpics/Profile-1c-web.jpg)
I would also challenge you as to who is #1 in your life as forever is a lot longer than 98 years here in this life!
Thanks again for all the love you have been sharing with us!
Paul
Hey Paul! I was just "telling on you" to Liz. :) Good to see you here!
Yeah Paul what Jane said.
Jane it is good to "see" you too.
Are you surprised that I am here at this time of night. I am not usually here this late.
Hi Marilyn and Jane!
Paul is leaving in the morning for Virginia.
I'm going down soon to Virginia and on to Pensacola, Florida to meet his other son who I've not met so that he won't get a big fright when he sees me at the wedding. ;)
Hey Pat! You're getting in a lot of traveling and sight seeing these days. I know you are having a good time, and I hardly think anyone is going to get a fright upon seeing you! :D
Will you have time to see any of our SN friends in Florida while there?
Enjoy! (Yeah, right, like I had to tell you :D)
Many thanks, Jane. Also to Paul. What a wonderful and romantic story. Pat is a blessing in the lives of so many people and it sounds as if you two are truly 'soul mates'.
Jane, I like your definition of lurking....I am not usually on the computer this time of the evening. Unless to play crib on the internet. Watched the curling and decided to come and check for new posts. Glad that I did.
BTW, Canada won the curling game against the US after being down 6-1..... ;D
Unfortunately, they had their first loss earlier and it was to China! :(
God Bless,
Liz
Hi Jane...
Thanks for the kind thoughts. This travel right now is probably going to be a little bit rushed but nice to have Paul's son meet me before the wedding.
So much to do but so little time.
Hi Liz... Thank you so much. You're so kind.
Good Morning lots of rain and some wind this morning. No time to write much this morning hae to get dressed and go pick up Willa and go to Curves for our morning workout. Talk to y-all later.
Ruth Ann what kind of surgery are you having on your thumb?
Paul has gone home. :( :'(
Saying Farewell!

Awwww Pat.......
Marilyn are you ok? really ok? Know that you are prayed for today.
Great day today...I have sold one machine, and almost an iron. The iron is really sweet, it lifts when you take your hand off the handle, so no skorching (sp?) or burning. for a quilter or sewer who irons a lot as they go.
Weather report says snow today, but at this point the sun is high and not a cloud in the sky. Off topic a bit... can you imagine Elijah seeing a cloud and running the distance he ran with his hand outstreached toward the cloud? He was an amazing man in the Bible.
John is back in the country, and hopefully heading home soon.
Got to run, much still to do.
Love to all
Aaaahhhh Pat ... Now, there's another bonding that makes my heart smile -- Paul and Geordie! Geordie looks longingly after Paul and wonders when he'll see him again. I know you feel the same way, but it won't be long now.
Marilyn, I saw your post last night but didn't have time to reply. My 'puter is running slow and I was tard, y'know?
Good morning to you Judy ... And to everyone else who graces these pages today. Have a truly blessed day.
I love the beautiful story of Pat and Paul. Congratulations
It is nice enough outside that the yard service is trimming and blowing junky stuff away. We have been told that they will not trim trees anymore and this is a real blow to hear because we do pay for yard service in our home owner's association fee.
Pastor Al: I hope that they hit the right spot when you had an injection! And, do hope that your owie goes away quickly.
Pat, what beautiful pictures! Your roses, the ring, and best of all Geordie and Paul. I love seeing how Geordie has taken to him and it brings it all full circle. You are blessed, dear lady, and I know that you are ready, you and Geordie, to enter into this wonderful new season of your life. Can you imagine?? LOL I'm so happy for you.
As Marilyn said, rain and wind here too.
I'm busy with helping with the baby, trying to stay one step ahead in the house cleaning, and failing miserably. I know there's a lesson here for me. One is how much I've always loved quiet. haha I am blessed with baby smiles and rocking times, so it's all good. Soon this season will be over and on we go till the Lord calls us home. Nita

I am having problems with my computer. First I bought what is called Bamboo Fun...wireless mouse, tablet and pen. I installed that just fine but when I pulled out the desk, my speakers crackled and popped. Then no sound. Since I have repaired the wires due to Inky cutting her teeth on them. I checked them and couldn't see anything wrong. So I got in the car, went to Best Buy and bought new speakers...the old ones came with my 1998 Gateway. Still no sound. Now I am wondering if my sound board or whatever is shot!
And I got a Software Bundle with my wireless mouse...Corel Painter was one and two other things...and I can't install them because I don't have a DVD drive...just CD-R and CD-RW. I asked Best Buy if they could put it on a CD for me. Of course not! I have to purchase a DVD-RW then I can install it. I sent an email to Bamboo Fun and the reply was that I could put it on a CD but I have to have access to a DVD-R (play) and a CD-RW (record). I think all those letters are right. Anyway, I am sitting here in my computility room and it is a total mess....just don't know what to do. Thinking about calling Best Buy in Kokomo and asking Brad how much the computer that Kitty was looking at and the monitor that I liked would cost with delivery and installation! Who knows?? MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Oh Etta Sue What a problem for you. My puter has died, and to get a new one is beyond me at the moment.
I will be away next week at a training course on the Husqvarna Designer SE LE. Look it up and see all that this dream machine can do. So I will miss you all. But I must say I am looking forward to taking this training course.
Must go Still much to do.
Judy I m fine why do you ask. Everything is going great here. Except that I can't walk the dogs today because of the rain.
I had my weigh and measure this morning at Curves and boy am I disappointed, Last month I was 2lbs short of my goal weight and this month I am 9 lbs away, I gained 7 lbs in one month. Grrrrrr.
I am going to go fix me a salad. now. have a bowl of cold cereal for supper and some fruit No more sandwiches (cut out the bread) and no more peanut butter (I ate way too much but eating right out of the jar with a spoon).
Hi everyone. It is 5:30 Eastern time and I am just getting to the message boards for today. This has been a very enjoyable day for us as after coffee this morning, which I always enjoy if anyone else is there , Pat and went to Bible study at church. Then the group went to Dunkin' Donut for about an hour and then it was time for lunch so the group adjourned to the cafe that is two doors down from the donut store and we all had lunch and visited until about 1:30. By the time I came home and rested the afternoon was pretty well gone. Rough day :) Tonight is choir practice.
Marilyn, I am sure you were disappointed but don't be too hard on yourself as the weight will come back off. I know you are a lady of determination.
Judy, hope you enjoy your training session. My cousin's wife has a Husqvarna sewing machine but I don't know what all it does. My Pat thought there was something wrong with her new Bernina but discovered she didn't have the walking foot on properly and when she took it off and put it back on it works fine. She was almost ready to take it back to the shop for repair so glad she experimented with it a little bit more.
Etta Sue, does your friend Kitty has a DVD reader/burner in her computer? If so, she could make you a CD. If you want to send me the software I will make it for you and send everything back. However, you would have no problem in putting in a DVD reader either in place of the CD reader or in a separate bay. Of course, if your computer is over 5 years old it probably would be time to consider a new one.
Pat, loved the pictures of Paul and Geordie.
Till tomorrow.
Lots of interesting posts since my last visit! Thanks, Paul, for putting yours in, I enjoyed reading it. I used to go to SN a LOT, now I can't even get in, need to see what the problem is, but time is always short. I do miss Photos Then and Now. :-\
I went to my chiropractor this morning, and he used acupuncture in my ears, this is to help me sleep. First time I've ever tried acupuncture, and it didn't hurt one bit!
As soon as I got home, Darrel and I left for Garden City. We gave an estimate on a home alarm system, changed the battery in another and checked the fire alarm at another place; had a nice lunch at Applebees, dropped off several bags of stuff at Goodwill, and got a few items at Walmart.
This evening I went to El Idolo (Mexican restaurant) and got taco salads for Mom and Beth, took those to them, then filled up the car, as we heard prices are surging again, probably by tomorrow. It was still $3.27.9 tonight. And yes, I know it is higher in California.
I'm going to hold my painting class tomorrow, first time in months!
Hi, friends,
My goodness! I played "hooky" from the computer last night, and how SORRY I am. Such beautiful photos, Pat, and how it warmed my heart to hear of your and Paul's happiness.
Oh, yes, Marilyn, I have developed a cyst at the base of my left thumb, so it hangs either in a flexed position or in a straightened position, and I have to take my right hand and adjust the left thumb. The surgery is supposed to only take an hour and likely I'll be doing fine in just a couple of days. It's to be done on Apr 15.
Well, such a busy, busy day. The revival services concluded this evening, so now I have lots to ponder about the minister's sermons. Tonight, I think I could condense it to "if you're not living in the overflow (of blessings), then you're living in the undertow (and in danger)." His message was from Paul's gospels, and truly a wonderful one.
I faced some challenges at work today, so the sermon seemed almost tailor-made for me.
Y'all have a good evening.
Ruth Ann Praying about all that you are dealing with. Pray that the thumb work goes smoothly.
Back to work, I have nearly everything done, about three more things left on the list. I leave tomorrow right after work to go south with John and the girls. John has a training course and I will be spending some long overdue time with my sister.
Must go Have a great day everyone.
JudyB
Good mornin', all. Ruth Ann - all sermons are tailor-made for listeners upon whom our Lord has set His love. And He is the Tailor. He makes sure we hear just what He wants for us in our ongoing lives. He intends to bring us rejoicing into His everlasting Kingdom, so He tailors everything in our lives to that end. Praise his Name.

Al: This is so true. It seems like the message from the sermon fits what we really need to hear at times. Every time we go to church with the family, my prayer is that each one will hear something that they really need to hear from the pulpit or from anyone in the congregation - just so they will "get" that message of hope and real contentment. Things are not moving fast enough for me but I have to trust that this is in the Plan for each of the children/ their spouses and family. I keep on praying for angels to guide their thoughts. My thanks for your interpretation.
Judy B: Wow - that is some machine you are learning. I have an older Husqvana and a newer Bernina. The Husk is my workhorse machine.
Larry: Tell Pat that I know exactly what happens when you get something not working and with the Bernina it seems like I just go through everything and oil it lightly, redo the thread and snap everything into place and it works like a charm. Always something! This machine needs more attention than my older Viking. We wanted to get out yesterday and have a cup of coffee - Don has had a cold for about 1 1/2 weeks - drove to a doughnut shop and I was mentally ordering two doughnuts when we approached, the new place is only open until 2 PM and it was too late. Shucks.
Janet: You have been cleaning out too! Good for you! I am ready to take pictures of a lot of things and offer another list to the children - they have to pick a number and then whomever is first is then in last place on the 2nd. item and so it goes back & forth.
Nita: It is a huge change to have a baby in the house. I do hope that you are taking care. Thinking of the change of lifting and I hope that you are alright.
Well, heavy snow here right now and I have to drive to Cheyenne tomorrow - it is very close but the road can close in an instant.
Hello to all of you on a gloomy looking Thursday morning (at least here in our corner of Kansas.) I hope this means some moisture is coming our way!
Carol, that sounds like a good way to do the picking (of things to give your kids.) I will try to remember that for future use!
I am going to eat lunch with my Youth Friends today. It has been three weeks, and they may be thinking I have forgotten them, but I haven't. We were away in New Mexico, then Spring Break, then I was working, and so it goes. :-\
Ruth Ann, what a good summary--"If you're not living in the overflow, you're living in the undertow." Thanks for sharing that!
I just heard about a little girl dying of diabetes because the parents didn't believe in medicine. How sad. YES, our God still heals today, but He also uses doctors and medicine. Such cases serve to cause people to distrust Christianity, I think.
Pat, were the highway shootings in Virginia anywhere near where Paul would have been driving? How terrible that some idiots think that shooting at cars is some kind of sport! :o >:( :(
I just stopped in to say hello, now will get on with my day.
I left for work as usual this morning and soon will have to leave for work again.
Tonight is the curling club dinner and I have not been home long after getting my hair done.
Ya'll have a great day. Ruth
Things are not going as planned at work today. (We are self employed) Can I get intercessory prayer? I want to stand and "see" the Glory of the Lord, but my faith is weak :( I know he will come through we we need it, but sometimes its scary during the wait!
God has provided everything we needed for so long, that being self employed has been a joy, but with the downturn in the economy lately, sometimes a "real" job looks promising! But I know that is not what God has for us. :)
Thanks for letting me vent a minute, now must get back to work
Samantha 8)
This has been a rough day. I came in to 3 tasks, and i now have 10. Wow where did they all come from. Can people ever be cranky. They forget that they are human too. BUT the sun is shining and I will be off soon.
I must go and get some more done today.
God Bless JudyB
Hi everyone. I just about wore myself out today as after coffee and walking 18 laps at the gym (approx. 1 mile) my friend Rod and I went shopping and I also stopped at Kaiser for a blood test in preparation for seeing the cardiologist next week. I am looking for a new laser printer. I have been the webmaster and these last two years the database manager for the Senior Golden Games in our county. I just about wore my printer out this year printing somewhere between 1200 and 1500 pages of reports of documents and certificates that they needed. They have offered to buy me a new laser printer to use for the games but which will belong to me and I am taking them up on the offer. I did some Internet shopping early this morning and then we went to several places to look at the printer and now my friend is going to order it using his Cosco Shopping card and have it delivered here. It will cost a little less than $150 and is made by Brothers and should well do the job. I am not getting a color laser printer as don't need it. It should make the printing costs go down as the toner is less expensive than the inkjet ink.
After we finished shopping we stopped to eat at a Chinese place we had eaten at the first time we had ever gone shopping together right after he moved here about 2 1/2 years ago. It is very good then and really terrible today. The food was cold and tough and just not tasty. We will not be returning to that place.
I have retired to my easychair for the remainder of the day as even my nap didn't revive me. Tonight the Sweet 16 for the men's NCAA Basketball Tournament begins around 7 pm so will be tuned in.
Judy, hope you find time to rest up on your time away. I am sure your sister will be happy to see you (right Pat?)
Samantha, continue to rely upon the Lord and you won't be let down. Of course, sometimes God's plan for us isn't what we think it should be but we never know what lies ahead and what may be needed to get up there. Glad you shared with us.
Hi Ruth, hope you enjoy the curling dinner.
Janet, it sounds like your busy schedule continues. Hope you have a great time with your painting class tomorrow. I am sure the school children will be happy to see you again.
Carol, Pat has had Bernina sewing machines for many years and never really had any problem with them. In truth this wasn't a problem but just the misapplication of the walking foot attachment. She gave her old Bernina 914 or 940 (probably mixing up the number) to her sister as it still works very well.
Al, you expressed so well what I was thinking after reading Ruth Ann's postings.
I am finally here to post great day here today, beautiful sunshine and cool weather. Took My friends mother and her two dogs for their walk up at Azalea Park, then came home walked my dogs. Talked to a friend in Oregon on messenger, went to Dollar Tree to do some shopping. I feel great and God is so good.
Samantha I am praying for you sister.
Larry it seems like you were very successful in finding what you in in the way of the Laser printer.
Carol I have so much fabric I will probably never use it all. I need to make some more aprons. I would like to make one of those old fashioned pinafore type but I need a pattern, or to see a picture of one and make my own pattern.
TTYL
We have had a horrible shock here in our small town again today. At noon, a car carrying five sophomore girls pulled out into the path of a loaded 18 wheeler, right in town, and four of them are dead. The driver is alive but in serious condition. Prayers for their families and friends would be wonderful, folks. It will be so hard here for the next while, and for a long time for the loved ones. :'(
My youth friends were really happy to see me today. They both jumped up and hugged me and told me they had missed me. We had a nice visit, and then I read them the two books my sister Shirley wrote. They liked them a lot.
Class went well, and while Maxine painted (she's the only one who came) I worked on my family reunion memory album and got that almost done. So that's another chore to cross off my long list.
See you tomorrow.
Hi All :)
Haven't visited here in quite some time, but used to catch up on a bit of reading via my cellphone. I'm a bit behind now though... ::)
First of all, wonderful coat of paint on the site. I almost thought I got the wrong site when I first got here.
Second, I want to thank you for the beautiful birthday card you sent me in December. Thank you Pat for sending a reminder email! I got it in January though - was on vacation and my desktop wouldn't fit in my suitcase!! :idiot:
I was pleasantly surprised and really cheered me up, as I was going through a bit of a tough time. I've seen specialists and I must say that I'm beginning to feel a bit better and am hopeful for the future.
Third, the news + photo's of Paul & Pat! WOW!! I've in particular read the piece that Paul wrote and boy, did it touch my heart! God Bless You both, Paul & Pat. My heart sings for you!! Glory to God!
Well, it is five past two in the morning here by me.......should get some shuteye.
Lots of Love, God's richest Blessing to one and all,
daisy

Psa96:1-4 "O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth. Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods."
xx
Hi Daisy great to see you here again, it has been a long long time. Will keep you in my prayers.
Janet I will pray for the families of those girls.
Congratulations
Pat, I'm so glad I came on tonight to see your beautiful ring and the lovely roses. I can hardly wait to see it in person. Wow I love solitares!
I am so happy for you and Paul. When I met him, I realized he was someone special and to think now he is going to be in the family. This is so exciting!
I know you are going to be SO busy in the next little while with everthing that is going on. I will be praying for you both that God will grant you peace during this exciting time and everything will go according to His plans. :) :)
God bless
Love Ruthie
Hi, friends, I've had so many meetings to go to at work today, and a bunch of phone calls, so am kinda "tuckered out" from not doing very much work!
At any rate, I'm glad that the minister's sermon spoke to y'all, too. I've thought about it all day. And, as a matter of fact, yesterday, I left work feeling like I was fighting that undertow, but today, seems like the overflow's been really great.
Oh, how thankful we need to be for God's love and care for us, through thick and thin.
Y'all have a great rest of the day.
Hi Paul,
What a great post and those pictures with Geordie are just fabulous! I heard that you and Pat will be doing a lot of traveling in the next little while. I will be praying that God will give you the energy and strength to carry it all out. Welcome to the family Paul!
Gods richest blessings
Love Ruthie
Hello Everyone,
I've been a bit busy. And it's going to be that way for a while. I'll drop in when I can and check in and participate in Challenges and so on. Your prayers for our work in Japan are always appreciated.
Here are a few verses from the last chapter of the gospel of John.
After breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?"
"Yes, Master, you know I love you."
Jesus said, "Feed my lambs."
He then asked a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?"
"Yes, Master, you know I love you."
Jesus said, "Shepherd my sheep."
Then he said it a third time: "Simon, son of John, do you love me?"
Peter was upset that he asked for the third time, "Do you love me?" so he answered, "Master, you know everything there is to know. You've got to know that I love you."
Jesus said, "Feed my sheep. I'm telling you the very truth now: When you were young you dressed yourself and went wherever you wished, but when you get old you'll have to stretch out your hands while someone else dresses you and takes you where you don't want to go." He said this to hint at the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. And then he commanded, "Follow me."
In His Grip,
Kevin
Kevin - as paraphrase versions go, I think I like the one you're using above all the rest. It's really helpful. yet stays pretty close to the intended meaning. I would still use my NKJV for absolute accuracy, but yours is sure good reading. Thanks for giving us some of it.
Hi everyone. It is an overcast but warm day here in the South. I went to coffee at the senior center and then four of us walked a mile at the church gym. I am finding that by the end of the week this is leaving me dragging but will have two days to rest up. I think we have decided that 18 laps (1 mile) is sufficient so that will likely become the goal each time we walk. We have been walking for the last three weeks now and have averaged 4 days a week.
I got the results from my blood test that I had done yesterday and was a bit shocked to find that I have chronic kidney disease in Stage 3 for the Glomerular Filtration Rate test. The count is 46 and the normal is 90 or more. I will have some questions for my doctor next week when I have the echo cardiogram and consultation with him. This is considered moderate and there are two stages below this one. I guess it is the result of all the heart medicines I have taken the last 20 years.
Janet, that was indeed shocking news and especially for a small community. We have similar events in our large metro area each year and I believe that the law now says that teens are not allowed to have other teens in the car without an older adult present. Many lives have been adversely impacted by one moment of carelessness.
Daisy, nice to see your postings.
I need to go to the grocery store. We are attending a special meeting tomorrow and then expecting our grandchildren and great grandchildren to all be here on Sunday afternoon. This will be another another wonderful blessing from God that I certainly couldn't foresee this time last year. We also have a wedding reception to attend for our choir director and her new husband at 4 pm at our church. I told her Wednesday night that I might be a bit late since the family was coming.
I need to get to the grocery and do some stocking up.
I have always thought it interesting that Jesus asked three times if Peter loved him. Heard lots of reasons for this, but still have found it curious.
I am selling sewing machines by default. I have sold two today, even though I know little about them. Well that is good for the store.
I am leaving as soon as I can to head south. I am looking forward to seeing Pat, it has been too long since I have seen her. I wish I could have met Paul while he was up, unfortunately that didn't happen.
Well back to work and everyone have a great day.
Jumping in before I pick up a neighbor and I drive to a quilt retreat in Cheyenne, Wyoming. We have had snow and this is the wet stuff that sticks to grass and doesn't bother the streets.
Janet: My prayers for the entire town and especially the family members. If the survivor makes it, the burden will be heavy and I pray for that person as well. In an instant - that is why I never wanted our children to be in a group in the car. There were four teens killed when ours were in school and all for rushing back to school at lunch time -
Larry: I don't know anything about kidney problems and I do know that you take good care of yourself including many visits to doctors. This is a surprise and I send my prayers that you will get the correct care. Yes, those meds are truly hard on the body.
JudyB: Enjoy your visit with Pat. She is feeling lonesome so she needs company :)

I didn't post yesterday!! Wow!
Janet ~ I will be praying for the families of those girls and the driver of the 18-wheeler. How sad!
I did take my tower to Best Buy and I got a DVD/CD-RW installed. The sound board was fine. And one of the cats had chewed a wire in two on my brand new speakers and my mic. So I purchased a new mic.
I also got my new eye-glasses while I was in town.
When I got home, I repaired the speaker wire...got everything wired back up and voila! I do have sound! Now everything is working great again. I haven't installed the software yet. Maybe later today.
Kind of cold and dreary today in Indiana. Only 37°. But spring is on its way!!! God promises./\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

Here I am checking in. I have already been here to read several times catching up with whomever wrote the last post. I have been doing laundry. I sat here while the second load was washing then went out and discovered that I hadn't turned on the dryer for the first load. Silly me.
I had a really good phone conversation with my friend in North Bend, Oregon last night. We must have talked for close to two hours.
I slept like a log didn't even wake up once. Sure felt good, probably wouldn't have woke up when I did but for Bebe's whining to go out., it was 4:30 time to get up anyway.
TTYL
ONCE UPON A TIME on Vancouver Island, come the end of March, we were shoveling Cherry Blossoms, while other areas were shoveling snow. This morning I looked out at a thick carpet of snow, while more was falling, with something resembling a blizzard! ??? ::)
Could use a visit from your dancing cats, Etta Sue. The plumbers were here this morning and mine hid under the bookcase in my bedroom. No comfort there....
I must go now and clean up their mess (plumbers) and restore order to the bathroom. Then start packing up my china, etc. Anyone got a small, attic room, they would like to rent to an old lady? :(
How are you feeling, Al?
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless,
Liz

Marilyn! North Bend is just down the street from me!! :-\
We got a little snow this morning too. I actually slept through it though. My sisters told me about it.
Being home schooled I usually get up about 8:00. But I got up late today.

yes Jane I do know that. How far down the street? My friend Conny said it it about 10 miles from Coos Bay but my friend told me it is 3 blocks to Coos Bay.
They are practically merged ... Coos Bay and North Bend share a common "line." You can be driving down a street and it's called Woodland Drive then all of a sudden the sign is changed to Broadway St. You've crossed the line between Coos Bay and N.B.
It's been a bone of contention for some time around these parts ... Neither city wants to be incorporated with the other. ;)

Thanks for letting me vent a minute, now must get back to work
Sam: Sometimes all we need to do is vent....or...have some one listen. When we talk things out with friends, God seems to use that to give His quiet reassurance.
No need in going into what you (or we for that matter) need to do, just trust.....just trust. "They that wait upon the Lord......"
Ed
Hi Ed good to see you back and posting. Where have you been?
You are so right, Ed. I need to do a little venting also! Plumbers made errors upstairs in the bathrooms and work will have to be re-done. One expensive sink is flawed and has to be removed and replaced....my daughter is about to collapse and vents on my head all day long...Sure glad I am a Christian...it is being put to the test every hour.
Here is a picture of the snow. I took it early this morning thro' my window..to cold for going outside. Snow fell off and on all day. This is supposed to be Spring...snow is very unusual in this climate.

Hi Scotty!
Want some more snow? Come to Guelph! We have so much and plenty to spare!
Liz, what a pretty view! That's really lovely!
I'm sorry about your plumbing causing you grief.
apparently a lot of places in Washington got snow today and yesterday. :snowball: :snowman: I wish we could have gotten more. :)
Hi Ed
So nice to see you posting.
Good Morning. Liz to answer your question this friend is a male friend. He is driving down today for a visit and to go to church with me tonight and tomorrow too. That sure is a pretty scene out your window, better for the snow to be there than here. DSorry to hear about the situation with the plumbing and Wendy's venting on you.
Pat no thanks on the snow, I don't relish being that cold, it sure is beautiful tho' when everything is covered with snow.
Liz, I'm so sorry your quiet world has been so disrupted. I would begin to think all that updating wasn't worth it. Will the property be worth that much more than the cost of all the work being done, once it is finished? Goodness, it sounds like such an ordeal. And if they (and you) are going to live there for the foreseeable future,.........well, anyway, I hope it gets finished shortly and peace can return to the household. In the meantime, how about a vacation in Kansas? You'd be more than welcome here. 8) No snow, either, although we need and want it so much!
Scotty, it's so nice to have a young person around again! You add a lot of energy and a spark that we enjoy. Keep on posting!
Darrel is off to Garden City again for a trouble call. Someone is doing construction and has messed up their alarm system. I would have liked to go along, but I'm working this afternoon.
Pat and Judy, enjoy your "sister time." (I know you will.) The days are flying past and soon the big day will arrive!! 8)
I called my granddaughter last evening, just to hear her voice and reassure myself she is okay. I've been thinking of the grandma here who lost TWO of her granddaughters in that awful accident. They were cousins, not sisters. Such a terrible waste of young lives....... :'(
I want to go check the votes in the challenge.

I, for one, hope the snow for 2008 is over until Christmas Day 2008....then warm up the 26th!!!
ScottyBoy ~ I could see your zapino font but I don't have it in my Fonts. I was surprised to be able to see it. I thought you could only see the different fonts if you have it in your Font file. Hmmm!
Liz ~ I can't imagine going through a major remodeling like you are. I think I would just have to move out and let them get it done, clean everything up and move back in. I don't think I could stand the dust and the clutter....let alone the noise! Good luck to you and all the rest in your household. Just think of the big picture...when it gets done! And is that your house pictured or across the street from you?
Ed ~ Hi, neighbor. Is spring springing up there?
Marilyn ~ Are you wishing your male friend becomes more?
Jane ~ Around Indy all the small towns are getting larger and boundaries are touching. Carmel would like to 'adopt' Westfield but Westfield wants no part of it. Carmel can't grow any bigger now...no more land for expansion. And the new additions are getting closer and closer to Ivalou and I every day.
Pat ~ Are you home now? When are you going to Florida?
Janet ~ You posted while I was composing. I thought of that terrible accident yesterday several times and said a little prayer for all their families. So sad!
Well, Ivalou called last evening to see if I would go out to eat with her. So in fifteen minutes we were on our way for Jumbo French Fried Shrimp at a small restaurant. I forget this restaurant is around. Good food!
Today it is bright and sunny. My solar heat is running. Suppose to get to 52°F today. I have a few outside things to do....put on my new license plate on the car for one. And ShopVac my garage floor. It is filthy from all the crud brought in on my car tires since last fall. Its a detached garage and not insulated so cleaning it is ignored for about 6 months of the year! And I have some kitty litter that is not clumping so going to dump it somewhere. Just small jobs that need to be done!
Later I am to call Nancy of Nancy and Walter and see if we can have lunch together after church tomorrow. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Etta Sue ~ My address (off Ocean Blvd) is Coos Bay, but just one street over, where I shop and go to church, is Newmark in North Bend! These two towns run into each other and overlap. It is the north bend of the coos bay and they staunchly resist becoming one community! I believe Coos Bay, the town, was originally called Marshfield, but you'd have to verify that with Nita. She's been around these parts most of her life. ;)
Yesterday evening my neighbor invited me to dinner. Her husband was making BBQ ribs and they had invited others as well. Two of the men who came brought their guitars and the woman who came is a magnificent pianist, and all of us are singers, so we had a really good time after a very delicious meal and fun conversation. It's really nice to have such good neighbors on either side of me. And it surely helps that they are Christians! God is good to me because, as my friend used to say, "I'm His favorite!" ;)
BTW ... How can you have JUMBO Shrimp? ??? Isn't that an oximoron?
Quote from: Marilyn on March 28, 2008, 10:49:05 PMHi Ed good to see you back and posting. Where have you been?
I never left...Ha Ha I've been lurking about, checking in every once in a while, but not having the time nor inclination to post.
Now that our 50th class reunion party in almost here (May 17), all of those days spent searching for classmates are nearly over. There were days that I spent (literally all day...that would be 6 or more hrs) checking, cross-checking, verifying and calling classmates. My co-worker & I probably phoned well over 400 people before we located all of those people. After all that time, I'm brain-dead when it came to posting messages here. Not to mention my BW accusing me of abandonment.
We have been successful in that we've located over 96% of our classmates. Sadly of 543 friends, 52 of them are deceased, almost 10%. A thing of joy is that I have found is that a great number of our classmates have become followers of Christ. Some of them were like me back then.....very far from Him in our actions and deeds.
ON ANOTHER SUBJECT: We traveled to our sons church last weekend. On Easter Sunday, our grandchild was baptised. She is 7 yrs old and accepted the Lord at 6. Whatta joy to see the next generation following Christ. We're are so happy that of our 16 grandchildren 10 are following Him. Another 5 are close. Only one remains distant....but he knows what Jesus is about from his early years of attending church.
Perhaps you'll see more of me in the future.

Pat is getting her share of snow. So are us Michiganders. More snow yesterday, but today it is almost gone. Donna saw the first robin of spring yesterday.
I delivered a truck to Mobile Ala recently. Left town in the morning at 19 degrees, after 7 inches of the white stuff fell on this area. By the time I got to Toledo, Oh, the snow was done and finally left the slush and melting snow north of Cinncinati. Warmer weather was awaiting me in Louisville, Ky. Was glad to see all the road work around Nashville was over.
When I arrived in Mobile, it was 67 degrees. I didn't want to leave. Point to Ponder: Why is it cold at 60 degrees in the fall and warm at 60 degrees in the spring?
I could still see evidence of Katrina in southern Alabama. Our church sent a team to Pass Christian, Ms over spring break. They're are due back tomorrow. There's still a lot of work to be done.
I Actually cant see the Zapfino font. I just typed it in manually. I really like it.
:) ;) :D
Scotty
I took this pic a few days ago.
It's not much of a picture, but I like it anyway

I can relate to the "are close," part. My son Travis just turned 6 in January, and his cousin Brooks turned 6 a couple of months before that. (Totally off topic -- amazing how time flies. I remember posting a prayer request for Brooks when he had Kawasaki disease when he was just a tiny thing). both of them have started showing an understanding of what salvation is and why it is needed.
Just yesterday, Travis told me that he needed a change in his life, and that change needed to be that he was on God's team. He prayed, "God, I hope you understand, I want to be on your team." Also, in the past week or so, he has admitted that he knows what sin is and that he knows he has sinned, and he doesn't like it.
As a parent, I desperately want him to accept Christ, but I also know that it has to be HIS decision, even (or especially) at this young age. Please pray for him over the next few weeks, and for me to have the wisdom and discernment to act when I need to act and to keep my mouth shut when it needs to be shut.
Have you noticed in this Easter resurection story there are four seemingly differing accounts of the garden scene, and that they seem to conflict with one another. Well they are all part of the same story, cleverly put together by the four gospel writers.
From Matthew to John, there are four groups of people visit the tomb, and the transition is from when it was totally dark and Mary Magdalene is first on the scene, till the last group visits the tomb, read these four acounts together its an eye opener, the transition is from dark, to first light, to sunrise, and full daylight, you will be blessed.

All we can do is pray for them, give them good solid advice and lead by example.
My advice is, be still and give the Lord the chance to come through, He knows whats on your heart, its the spirits groanings within that God listens too, we are so anxious for things to happen, that we never leave them in God's hands. You've placed your petition there, leave it there. God is the author of our salvation not us, let go and let God, believing what you've asked for has already happened.
Hi everyone. We have had a very busy day as had an all day meeting to attend and really enjoyed it. We didn't get home until about 4 pm and was exhausted so took a nap. I am now sitting on the bed using my laptop and watching the basketball games this evening. That way my wife and our daughter, who is visiting this weekend, can watch a movie on the faimly room TV as they don't care for the sports programs.
I called the son of my good friend who is suffering from liver cancer to check on my friend. He told me that there was nothing the doctors can do for him and that he is quickly failing and spending most of his time in bed. Several of us in the coffee group plan to stop in for just a very quick visit on Monday morning. While there is nothing anyone can do for him he can at least know that we care and are concerned. I have known this man and shared my mornings with him since July 1996. I know he is a Christian and has a very caring and loving family. He has two sons and they are working their schedule, one of whom still works. They are working their schedules so that one of them is with him at all times. On a more positive note, I called another friend who has been ill for about a month and he said he is planning on attending church in the morning although he has no energy. He is also one of our coffee group and he and his wife attend the same church we do.
I'm just home from work, worked by myself, very busy day. I'm totally wiped out, so I am headed to  I have to work alone again starting at 6 AM tomorrow, and the menu is fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, pineapple upside down cake. That's all after I make breakfast for everybody and clean up from that! Whew! :tiredtread: Feels like I've been doing that all day!
See you tomorrow afternoon.
Hi everyone. I see only Janet has posted since I was here last evening but want to go ahead and write a few lines as this is going to be a very busy day.
We are headed to church in less than 2 hours and shortly after we get back our granddaughter and family should arrive from Augusta, GA. and then our step-grandson, his wife and new baby are to come over for lunch. They said they had to leave about 4 pm to head home.
We then have the wedding reception to attend at our church for our choir director and her new husband. They were married in Florida about 3 weeks ago. Next weekend she is going with the Atlanta Symphony Chorus to perform in Carnegie Hall in New York City so will be gone next Sunday.
Following the reception we will have to take our daughter to her apartment, which takes an hour each way. That is more than enough for one day.
We had quite a bit of rain yesterday and rain again during the night. It is chilly here this morning and still damp but the rain has or will shortly move away from our area.
Janet, I am shocked that they would expect one person to do all that work alone.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Hi everyone. Well It has been a very nice weekend. Yesterday we walked the dogs after he mowed my lawns. Had ate late dinner and skipped supper. I made broiled ½ salmon in foil, a pomodoro Italian Salad with Italian vinaigrette dressing.
He thoroughly enjoyed going to church with me from the prayer time right through the loud music and pastors dramatized sermon.
When he came back this morning he fixed bacon and eggs while I made the toast and set the table. He is taking a nap now before he starts the trip back to Oregon. I am catching up on my email, here and on SN.
Larry: The curling banquet was very relaxed a nice group of folk. The group of curlers for the most part get together for an evening of fun. 2 door prizes Mel both, and added to that he got the 50-50 draw he felt very lucky.
Today is just a do nothing day then it is work again tomorrow.

Church today. Not near as many at church today as Easter Sunday. BUT our teens and adults are in Mexico and adults went to Thailand! That is way over a hundred right there.
After church, it was WalMart and then to O'Charley to have lunch with Nancy and Walter. Very enjoyable company and food. Then I filled the car up with gas and went to Bath and Body Shop. Then home.
It started raining as I left church but quit by the time we ate. Still cloudy and dreary out.
At 5, I am suppose to go to Kitty's and help her 'save' things on her old computer.
Again, I didn't sleep well last night so I will be ready for bed tonight. ---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@

I forgot to tell you that even my dogs took to him. Bebe is normally so leery of people that she won't let them touch her or go near her. She barked and growled when he would come in the door, or get up off the couch. She would follow him to the bathroom and when he came out she would bark at him. But once he sat down she would go right over and stick her head up in his lap for pets. I told him she was fickle that way.
She won't even do that with my son, she just completely avoids letting my son get near her., When we first moved up here he teased her a lot when I kept telling him that she wansn't socialized and to let her come to him, He would insist on trying to pet anyway.

Pets, especially dogs, seem to have a sense that makes them a good judge of character.
I'm home from work and have had a nap. I managed to get all that food done by myself, but I'll tell you it was NOT easy! Larry, you're right, it is just too much for one person. Week days, there are two people, but weekends only one---and some of their biggest meals are on weekends. I already told them NOT to schedule me to work every Sunday morning; I want to go to church!! My sister told me when she relieved me today that she had to tell them she was only working three days a week, and if that wasn't sufficient she was out of there! And that I may have to do the same thing. They had me on the schedule for two days this week when I left last night, but this morning I was on it for four days. I wanted to work part time, but I don't want to kill myself for slave wages. :(
Marilyn, sounds as if your new friendship is progressing really, really fast. Do be careful!
Ruth, glad your husband had good luck and that you both had a good time.
Etta Sue, sorry you didn't sleep well. Neither did I. My feet and legs hurt so bad that I finally took 4 Tylenol before it eased enough to go to sleep.
There is to be a memorial service for the 4 girls killed in that awful wreck, tomorrow evening at 7, out at the Civic Center. I'm sure there will be a huge crowd for that. It is touching so many lives here.
Larry, I am so happy for you, to get to see your family. Please don't overdo. That sounds like a lot for you in one day, for sure.
At least some of the residents made it a point to tell me that dinner was wonderful, the best they'd had for a while. Two said they had been really hungry for some good, home fried chicken. :)
Now I must go post the new Thoughts.
