Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

I got the news last night that a dear Christian man has gon to be with the Lord.  He suffered with cancer for years bur it spread to his lungs this past year.  It is so sad that people who have never smoked die this terrible death.  BUT Praise God Les is with the Lord to day and the suffering is over.

It is somewhat cooler today, still nice though, we are expecting rain.  It is needed, our garden is so dry.  We have not planted it yet.  I am hoping to do that this weekend.  Problem is it has yet to be tilled.  Oh well people work slower up here, and it shows in things like this.

I am off kids are struggling with understanding their health/science, so I need to clarify it for them

till later

Hello again!  We went to town for part of our bank's 100 year celebration.  They are drawing every hour they are open this week to give away a $100 bill!  There were also other gifts--a nice rain gauge and a lovely ice cream scoop/paddle with a wooden handle.

They had cleared the entire parking lot behind the bank, set up a big tent, the serving lines for a nice barbecue dinner (free, of course!) and had a big flat bed trailer for the entertainment.  We enjoyed visiting with friends there, and a special treat was getting to hear Sheila, our 84 years young piano teacher play.  The wind blew her music off, a lady put it back up, and off it went again, onto her hands, and she never missed a note!  She can play anything by ear, anyway.  She said all she really needed was her list of songs she wanted to play.  What a gal.

Sorry about your friend, Judy.  It's hard to lose people, but so good to know they are home with the Lord, beyond the reach of sorrow, pain or suffering.

I just heard from my youngest daughter.  She told me that one of her best friends was in a horrible car accident with her children, on the way to their father's funeral, and some guy crowded her over as she tried to pass him.  She tried to speed up, but there was a car in front of her and another behind, and the guy sideswiped her and caused the car to roll three times.  Her youngest daughter, 10, was thrown from the car on the first rotation, as as she raised up, the car hit her and killed her.  An older daughter has terrible injuries, too.  I cannot imagine the pain of that young mother. :'(  And the jerk who caused it all never even stopped!  They still haven't found him.

I must get busy.  Since I lost half the week being sick in bed, I have a lot to do to get ready to go to Curtis' Commissioning and Graduation.  We are riding with his parents and plan to leave at 8:00  AM on Friday.

Ruth Ann, what a praise!

Janet, so sorry for the lady and her two children.  How sad!  You never know when a life is snuffed away.

Our Red Hats visited Wick's Pie Factory.  They ship to 35 states.  Today they were making boring pie shells and tops.  Wish they'd been making Sugar Cream Pies.  To me, Wick's are the best store bought frozen pies ever!!  Then we ate at Mrs. Wick's Restaurant.  Of course, their specialty is homemade pies made daily...over 35 different pies.  Of course, when I saw Coconut Cream Pie, I had to have a slice of that.  Real meringue!!  And only $2 a slice.  Then they had seconds that were frozen.  I bought a Sugar Cream and a Pecan Pie for $5.80.  Now if I don't get dessert made for Euchre, I can pop these in the oven.

Hi everyone.  Am once again sitting out on my screened in porch with my laptop.  It is a bit warmer than yesterday but still have some wind and the ceiling fan helps.

This morning I went to Lowe's to return something and then across the street from there to Walmart for groceries.  They had everything that Pat had on the list.  However, I have decided that in the future when I go to Wal-Mart if I have a bit of shopping to do and not just in and out that I will use one of the electric carts.  They are a bit of a pain to handle but wouldn't have to do all that walking.  I was really exhausted when I finished.  I invariably have to retrace steps because I have missed something that is at the back of the store.

The housekeeper was here again today for the final cleanup before my sister and BIL arrive.  As far as we know they will be here tomorrow afternoon sometime.  I think everything is in readiness.  The housekeeper was due next Monday so today's visit will substitute for that one.

Pat is feeling better but still having problems with her back.  I am sure we will not be making any day or overnight trips with my sister and BIL this visit as she doesn't need a long car ride and I can't handle walking very far.

Ruth Ann, I would say you were cloaked in prayer to help you through a down time.  God does work miracles in our lives everyday and it is a blessing that you recognize them and appreciate them.

JudyB, these fires in variious areas are really terrible.  The one in south Georgia has now burned over 100,000 acres of timber and some homes.  The smoke is being seen in Florida plus they have some fires of their own.  Hope you get the rain you need.  They say we have a chance for some rain tomorrow.

Karmat, I am not the party planner but what Etta Sue suggests sounds pretty good to me.  It is the people gathered that will be important and not so much the surrounding and decorations.

Etta Sue, glad you are now able to talk and hope the hoarseness soon goes away.  Your trip with the Red Hat ladies sounds like it was a lot of fun.  I haven't heard of Wick's Pies but in the Kansas City area they have a big pie company that has restruarants and makes delicious piesl.

Janet, glad you are feeling like getting out again.  Please don't overdue and let your strength return.  I have opened the photos you linked to in a separate window and will view them as soon as I finish posting here.  That is unbelievable devastation as evidenced by that first photo.

I have a nice quiet evening planned at home since we don't have choir practice this week.  Our director felt we had the upcoming material well in hand and as we don't sing this Sunday (it is youth Sunday) we will have another practice before we are back in the choir loft.

Hi, friends,

It's really late, and many details were handled at work today. Thank you for your responses to the story. What would we DO without each other and our prayers and support networks!

Janet, your devotional inspired me tonight. How good to refresh again that wonderful knowledge of being God's adopted child, sibling to our Lord Jesus Christ, and family member with the Holy Spirit.

Al, I do hope your friend will be strong of  good courage during his sermon Sunday. Etta Sue, it's so nice to hear your scratchy voice. We'll pray for great surgeon's reports. Janet, how difficult when your mother can't be near and Beth's illness is so hard on Beth and y'all. Larry, hope your wife's back continues to improve. We've been thankful for 2 good chiropractic relationships recently. Judy, a friend may be facing a really difficult situation, also. Death is so hard on those of us who remain and grieve more for our own losses, since our loved ones can't be with us. Oh, Marilyn, what difficulties with your client! So many good comments from our midst regarding Ruth's situation. A wise and knowledgeable group are gathered here. All strengths complement and support our continued relationships. A magnifying mirror certainly must have been such an eye-opener for her. You're a good, faithful, wise care provider who loves her (and so many others) with a heart full of Christian caring and supportiveness. Jane, prayer certainly can be effective when times seem grim - I'm so thankful God hears, answers, and gives us the assurance that time often reveals His answers to our prayers. I'm so glad she called. Comcast is nice. I'm not brave enough to try it for phone service yet. Nita, Magical Mondays are wonderful, aren't they! Sarah, how sad for those affected by that terrible tornado. Sometimes I wonder about redeveloping after such a bad loss--will New Orleans return to its prior strengths and weaknesses? Will it be forever changed by Katrina? Inspired Gal, 6 children will likely keep you operating at peak efficiency while you're alone. godspeed for your hubby. A book! That will be a good read. Carol, what a peaceful scene you described. Nards, hang in there - recovery may be slow but we believe in you and your loving caregivers. Pat your wonderful leadership is so inspiring, we love and appreciate your behind the scenes hard work, facilitating smooth operation of this great website, and your prayers and concern to us as individuals. If I didn't read your post or forgot to respond tonight, please know I love and appreciate every contributor.

Yikes! I guess tonight I'm a "post elephant!" :o

I feel that it's possibly beneficial for some or maybe all who view our forum that the post be removed at this time. Please forgive my being uneasy about leaving it for a long time.

While recuperating from tomorrow's hand surgery, instructions today were that almost no movement in the hand just operated on is to be done until stitches are removed. The surgeon is to authorize one-handed return to work with primarily mouse-related work and lower case emails as necessary. Potentially this is to be a period when I confer with clients and associates by phone, with on line viewing privileges to see their requests on my computer as we converse and resolve problems.

Etta Sue, your idea of a cookout seems great. I know of a wedding to be in mid July where the young couple, expecting to bear many of their wedding expenses, have tentatively planned such a cookout for the rehearsal dinner. Of course, financial support and quite a lot of food and desserts will be given for this fine young couple. I've heard that from the various sides of the groom's family.

Karma, once I was very tight on finances and provided a reasonably inexpensive groom's rehearsal night dinner. A friend who worked at a deli sliced nice turkey breast and ham portions from what I purchased at Sam's. She rolled the slices as they are done on professionally made trays. I can't remember but cost of those little aluminum trays was quite low. I cut up and bagged zip lock bags full of all the good veggies for making beautifully laid-out salad trays that would be easy to assembled just before the buffet. The big bell peppers had their "heads" removed and the seeds and membranes cleaned out. They served as the "dipping dishes" to hold the dips we prepared and brought with us. Rye, wheat and white breads from the day-old bread store were arranged with appropriate sides for easy sandwich put-togethers.

These things went many miles during late winter weather safely in borrowed coolers in the rear of our family's vehicle. We froze ice in milk jugs and broke it up to spare expense of purchasing bagged ice. The rest of the children and I rode up front, of course.

Friends lent beautiful punch bowls that held crispy chips of several varieties. These were the large size bags from Sam's.

I truthfully don't remember tonight the dessert that ended the buffet.

I had learned that bridesmaids colors were to be red, primarily. So, the tables were covered with sheets already in my linen supply, and I found a wonderfully cheap closeout on wide red ribbon to serve as a "runner" down each table. My local church lent the little glass star-shaped candle holders to hold candles purchased at a dollar-type store. Additional details escape me at the moment.

Oh, yes, of course, drinks were a tea, fruit juice mixture, easily made from purchased bottled items.

All participants seemed to enjoy the foods and the atmosphere in that church basement was easy and things seemed to go well. Just about all the foods were eaten and cleanup was easy and repacking containers for the ride home not very difficult.

Y'all have a good rest of the weekend, and Happy Mothers Day to our mothers who celebrate this Sunday. I'll be reading along. :)

Good Morning. I want to thank you all for your prayers regarding my client/patient. Her son came over and reassured her that he would never put her in a place she did not want to be. She said he was very compassionate, likening  her situation  to what he may face int he future. Hallelujah!

Another wonderful Bible Study last night.  We had another speaker from our church do the lesson. It wasn't really a lesson, She called out our names and said to each of us what she would say if she knew it was her last day on earth. The real lesson was to tell those you care about what you would want to say if you knew you would never see them again. Then we anointed and prayed for one another. She had a special message for me and It still brings tears to my eyes to think about the words she said.

I have been very scare here for a couple of days in my posting, I just didn't have anything to say.

Janet I do pray that you are feeling much better. My Pastor and his wife were both out last night with that stomach stuff that is going around. Very sweet of your mother to let you know that she  is there for you praying and so concerned on how you are.

Ruth Ann I have been praying for you this morning, I loved you long post last night. It so reminded me of the newsy letter I used to received from my mother, touching on many people and many subjects.

Etta Sue  how is the voice progressing is it still horse?

I confess I am so envious of those of you who are so closely knit families. We used to be but that was years ago. Now I am grateful that Gilbert and I have always been very close and that I am here in McKinleyville.

Time to go take a load out of the dryer and put another in before I go to work.

Hi everyone.  I will be brief today but have enjoyed reading the postings since I posted yesterday.  We are doing some final meal preparations for my sister's visit.  I helped Pat put together a hot chicken salad that could be fixed ahead and was just resting a little before cleaning up the kitchen and chopping some onions for her and rinsing a head of lettuce and spinning out the excess water.  Using the spinner is one of the least fun things I can think of doing in the kitchen as it is very difficult to get the spinner to turn but it does do a good job.  I also need to run back to the store to get some light bulbs as need one and have no 60 watt bulbs on-hand.

Our daughter is having a really tough time with her heart as the heart rate is very high and the two medications she is taking do not seem to be regulating it.  She sees the cardiologist tomorrow and they may do another angiogram and if the stent is till open implant a new device to pace the heart.  They told her that would require a 5 day hospital stay.  Things are very uncertain for her and whether she is healthy enough to be able to work and support herself.  Marilyn, your Bible study last evening fits our situation very well and we are trying to live in today and leave the future in God's hands, where it is anyway so that our worrying won't help a smidgen.

Need to get to work and then rest a little while.

Hiya all!!
While most of you are enjoying the warm weather up there in the Northern Hemisphere, down here in Australia, we are enjoying a glorious Autumn. The leaves on the trees are turning colour and I must admit that this is my favourite time of year. :)

Things are busy (as usual) in my household. LOL! How can it not be with six sons?!  :)

God is doing marvellous things in our lives, for which I am grateful and rejoicing in. My husband George, is planning another trip to India soon. He'll be away for 6 weeks. In July my first book will be released. It goes to print in a few weeks time and I'm getting very excited about it. :)  Recently I took a position with EZRAweb.com as a freelance writer to write Biblical fiction stories for their readers. This requires that I write a new story each week and I'm looking forward to doing this. As for my photography, God is opening new doors for me, especially in the USA, so I'm looking forward to seeing what the Lord will do there. :)

I do apologise that I don't post here more frequently and keep up-to-date with each of you precious people. It's 5am right now and my children are still sleeping, so I have the time to drop in for a little chat. (I still have only the 'newbie' status. LOL!)

See you all again soon, until then, love and blessings in abundance.  <3

It was so interesting to read this.  I've kept you on my prayer list as you look to the future for your lives.  I bet life can be hectic with all those boys around?

Thanks for the update!

Hi, Sarah.  It's so nice that you and your fellow employees are planning fund raisers for the employees of the Greensburg Pizza Hut.  Our local Hut is donating 20% of all sales today to the cause.

Ruth Ann, I love it when you are a "post elephant!"  :)  I got interrupted this morning while doing this post, now must close and go teach my class.  Will try to get back later.

Just flying through as I only have a few minutes before it is time to leave.

Janet:  Thanks for the link to the disaster.

Marilyn: It is so good that your friend got the right care and that her son was given a wake-up call.  So sad when people take advantage

A blood test before a meal then 2 hours after - what does that really tell you.     Silly question I suppose.

Please remember our granddaughter also Sue's daughter in prayer as she is dealing with a tough issue.

Karma:   Rest assured that whatever you and hubby do for mom & dad will be wonderful and rewarding.

Please pray for Ivalou today.  She called me yesterday and said, 'I don't want you coming over here until I tell you to come over!'  I thought, what did I do?  Then she explained that Wednesday night she got sick. All night long...yesterday morning.  I think it sounds like food poisoning.  I called her this morning and she was still sick in the night.  So she has had this for at least 36 hours.  Can't even keep water down.  So pray that this whatever it is stops and that she doesn't get dehydrated.  I took her mail to her yesterday...stood outside the door...and she looks awful.  All around her mouth is broken blood vessels...looks like she has been bearded!  I don't like it when my bestest friend is sick so please say a prayer for her.

I have been cleaning and cleaning.  Why is it when you find one thing to clean, two more things turn up to be cleaned?  House cleaning...a never ending job.  Anyway I am doing this for Euchre that is meeting here next Tuesday.  At least my house will be clean!

G'mornin' y'all.  It's a gray, foggy day here on the Lost Coast of California.  Not supposed to get significant sunshine 'til Monday.  Maybe even a bit of drizzle today and tonight.

It all seems appropriate, though, as my main activity today will be to conduct a memorial service  at a funeral chapel in Eureka.  The father of one of our church members passed on this week, and our pastor is to be out of town.  So I get it.

I do marryin' and burryin', but I like marryin' best.

Sue

Good Morning

Etta Sue, I pray that Ivalou gets feeling better soon.  Being sick is no fun at all!

I'm pleased you are home and that the surgery went fine Ruth Ann.  Now please, please, please do not strain your hand and give it time to heal!

Larry, I pray also that your daughter's doctors work with knowledge and care when fixing her heart issues.

Happy Birthday Papa John.

Marilyn, it is good to hear that your client's son has recognized verbally some of the issues at hand and that her stress has been relieved a little.

I also wonder how Mieka is doing, has anyone heard from her?

I have just received a phone call from my daughter and one of the stresses has been lifted a little.  She has been hired part-time for the deli dept of a local (to her) grocery store and although unsure of the hours she will actually receive, has been told 25-30 per week which is an improvement of what she has been getting.  The other stress is an "in-law" medical issue that time and prayer will have to work on.

Now I must get busy and get back to work on this beautiful sunny day.  Too bad I must be inside and not able to fully enjoy it.

Hi Everyone!

I haven't had time to post anything in a very long time.  Work has been keeping me really busy as I work midnight shift.  I am working as a security guard and loving it.  I am hoping in the very near future to be able to get my truck driving license and when I do I will be aiming 18 wheels down the road.

Take care everyone and please know that you are all in my prayers.

Fraoch

Al Moak

Fraoch - interesting that you should say you have been employed as a security guard.  I've been a pastor since 1969, but had to be involved in secular employment simultaneously during most of that time.  I too was a security guard until about 2 years ago.  My shifts were usually swing (4PM to midnight), though I also did graveyard and day occasionally.
