Hi everyone. It is going to be another hot day here in South Carolina getting into the mid-90's. I have no plans for today and am thankful as got up feeling very weary.  I did get the dishwasher unloaded and things out for Pat's breakfast and for my own.  I have a few things to take care of here in my office and that will likely be it for today.

Janet, I can no longer imagine doing all of that shopping in one day.  Kitchen Aid has always had a good reputation for quality so your new dishwasher should serve you all a long time.  Glad you had no serious repercussions from your fall and hope the toe soon heals up.

Jackie, we need some rain here as well.  We had severe storm alerts yesterday afternoon but got not one drop of rain. Glad you met a nice new neighbor lady but too bad they don't spend much time in their home near you.

Carol

Another hot day and I am about to check the fire situation in the mountains.  Most of tonight's meal is ready and refrigerated for cousin & company.  Two salads and fudge brownies are ready.  The two boys coming with my cousin & husband have been raised overseas although they have been in Minnesota several times on leave.  I hope they have a good impression of what it is to be American.

Larry:  It seems so early for this hot weather.  We still have cool enough nights to open our windows and morning are really good but then the temp shoots up to almost 100.  So much snow that the rivers are dangerous - people go in to cool off and there have been many rescues - not always rescued though.

The radio station has all the talk about motorcycles today and the ride to Sturgis, South Dakota.  We have been caught driving in that herd once and try to pay attention to the date.  It is unbelievable.  I did get gas at a station and even shouting we could not hear each other.  They do drive very carefully though and are so polite - we just stay out of their way.

So sorry about the shower slipping - we had a grab bar put in as well and there are special mats that have a hole for drainage.

Time to get busy.

Good morning everyone. Today I am making Turmeric  flax seed bread for the first ime. I hope it turns out tasting good, I do know that it will definitely be yellow. I made some matcha bread a few weeks ago and it turned out a pale Green. you couldn't even taste the Matcha. http://matchasource.com/health-benefits-of-matcha-tea/

This feels like yet another Saturday, the fourth one this week!
Come on, Sunday!  ;)

Curtis voluntarily came by this morning while he was in town and helped Darrel unload the new dishwasher, also made a few more adjustments to the garage door opener.  Love that Grandson!

Darrel has been grilling, chicken legs and pork ribs.  He also made a gallon of Cherry Nut ice cream.  Yum!  He intended to do that for the 4th, but we were otherwise occupied. We don't need to be eating ice cream, but it sure is good!  Guess we all have some kind of vice!  ;)  I will take Beth, John and Maxine each a bowlful of it.

I may just take a little nap.  I'm tired!

May God bless you all!

Arent our medical issues fun...not... :o

This morning as usual I was up and about my usual early time...at around 6.45 am, roughly an hour later I was bending over and making a fuss of our Toby, smiling and laughing at him as he was enjoying the fuss, ( a rarity ) when out of know where I was fighting to breath, have no Idea where that came from but, I was thinking lucky I am in the kitchen and could make my way to the kitchen tap to take in some water, still fighting to breath I thought maybe not water as I might make matters worse...this is something I have never experience so I looked on the internet my GP surgery to see if I could make an appointment, they are closed today and no out of hours phone number so it is now 9.45 and 15 plus minutes ago I phoned our 111 NHS phone number, she must have asked me a good 20 or so questions, and afterwards, she has now booked me a precautionary hospital appointment in an hour or so's time...When I take a deep breath in my throat and chest is feeling some strain...whatever has happened I jut cant ignore, it was not pleasant.... even if it tuns out to be part and parcel of my MS...the 111 phone number has my medical records at hand...and now the name of my GP surgery...I shall be leaving soon, I shan't have any breakfast, I shall eat when I come back...

Jackie, I'm so sorry you're having breathing problems.  I sure know about that!  Just going from my front porch to a car, carrying my portable oxygen canister, leaves me gasping for three or four minutes until I have enough breath to talk  Without the 5 lbs. weight of course, I can go a little further.  I'm praying for a quick solution for your latest symptom.

Hi everyone. This will be another hot day getting up in the area of 93 degrees with a chance of rain.  We were under another severe thunderstorm warning for two or three hours last evening but still not a drop of rain.  Our main activity today is to go to our planned dinner at the Chop House.  We will eat around 2 pm as Scott has to get back and get ready for work later this afternoon.  Later this morning I plan on taking a package to the UPS drop off place as have an order we need to return to Amazon.  I awoke at 4 am this morning and couldn't go back to sleep for got up at six.  I will try to rest for a couple of hours later this morning before we go to dinner.

Carol, I hope your dinner last night for your relatives and the two boys was enjoyed by all.  I am willing to bet that the boys liked the fudge brownies. Are the boys grandchildren of your cousin?

Marilyn, when our bread gets some green on it we know it is time to put it down the garbage disposal.  Was the green bread good and the Turmeric flax seed bread as well. I have never heard of Matcha Tea before.

Janet, that homemade Cherry Nut ice cream sounds wonderful and brings back memories of the ice cream socials we used to have when I was growing up or my dad would fix for special occasion dinners at home.  I couldn't wait to lick the paddle when it came out of the ice cream freezer. Have your tried out your new dishwasher?

Jackie, your experience this morning sounds very alarming and sure glad you are having things checked out.

Jeanne, I don't have breathing problems but do experience shortness of breath and sometimes have to take several minutes to quit breathing heavily.  Does your oxygen canister have a shoulder strap or do you have to carry it in your hands?

We are back after having to go to Morrison's Supermarket ( I sat in the car, Richard went ) to get my prescriptions as our local chemist is closed Saturdays....Well hospital Doctors diagnoses is acid reflux, hm, maybe, but I am not truly convinced, but this is what he is starting me off for...He said on Monday I must book to see my GP to follow up where this will go, also if this stopping of breathing happens again to go back to see him....He took notes and its on his computer of all my medical history including I had the camera down me 14 something years ago where I was treated for Helicobacter Pylory and found I had a Hiatus Hernia which I have lived with ever since and not had reflux coming back up, and out of the throat in years ( Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)).....but I do still suffer with terrible stomach acid or heartburn over the years, and have been aware it has particularly been bad for the last few weeks, but I dont have it today...Well what happened this morning is a first, oh I have had choking, and fighting for breath for no reason, no food to choke on but, this was different to anything I had experience before, my breathing was stopping, and very little air was getting through..just happened without warning...I am now on a course of Omeprazole to be taken twice a day...I know that does work, as that was what I was put on 14 years ago, either them or the others, Lanzoprasole, can't remember which...but I do remember it working compared to any over the counter acid medications that are now on the market, which do absolutely " diddly squat.."
I also have a very large bottle of Peptic Peppermint Liquid to be taken four times daily...
It is now 1.30pm and I havn't eaten yet, just taken my first Omeprazole on an empty stomach as the pack has told me too but I am now getting hungry...
Oh forgot to mention, my BP reading for me, was the lowest it has ever been yet my face was burning, I was sure my BP reading would have been sky high and very surprised to hear how low it was...well it was for me, but not for the Doctor...my usual readings are something more like 145 but this mornings reading was 118...

Drat, I was so hoping to keep myself away from those buildings this year...( hospitals ).... well I managed 6 months...

I got to try my new metal handrail bar...even though I counted 7 concrete steps if you include the large platform type step midway but, I do have to admit, I found it easier, and must say quicker that getting from the car down the slope to the front of my home...the slope plays havoc with my head and footing...

Jeanne Lee...
...I hadn't even done anything nor moved anywhere...I wasn't choking nor gasping... it was like a light switch turning on...one minute I was breathing, next like my breathing had stopped...or was stopping.....I still feel this is going to be connected to my MS...maybe fresh lesions or the lesions are growing larger but what do i know? I am not a Doctor...but I do look up a lot on the MS internet sites......

I never knew you was on oxygen canister, I do understand from others who are on it, re, our other forum that they can be very heavy to carry which doesn't make ones life any easier....I know you have several medical issues you are having to deal with, the last thing you want is to have to carry a heavy weight...

We do take so much for granted like our breathing and our walking, dont we?....

Well I certainly do not like the " Peptac..." dont like the taste although I could just about tolerate it...its the consistency that I would rather not experience...like swallowing gooey liquid chewing gum....

Larry, the portable oxygen has a canvas carrier that has a shoulder strap but also a hand grip that I find is easier - I can carry it much like I did my kids when they were small.

Jackie, I pray the cause and treatment of your loss of breath will be found quickly.

I'll try teal today!  ;)

I had intended to go out to the Farmers' Market for a while, but was on the phone and computer with my granddaughter-in-law, helping her with some cover letters she needs to go with job applications, and it took longer than I expected.  I hope I was of some help to her!

I had a new experience today.  Last Saturday, out at the Farmers' Market, I visited with the new Vicar of the Episcopal Church.  She is in charge of three churches in SW Kansas:  here, Garden City and Liberal.  She will live here, since this is midway between the other two towns.  Anyway, she said she was to be installed today, and invited me to come, both for that ceremony, the house blessing (They have spruced up and re-painted the parsonage, or vicarage, as she called it, and for a meal to follow. I went, and found it quite interesting.  The only times I had attended the Episcopal church were for funerals.

It's interesting to me how different our denominations are, and yet how similar!  We all love and serve the same Lord and are headed to the same heaven, so we would do well to learn to get along down here, right?

My friend, the pastor of the Church of Christ, was there also.  He is the current president of our Ministerial Alliance.  We have a good time talking about books and writing, among other things. I mentioned to him that this was a new experience for me, and he said it was for him, as well.  I love it when the local churches cooperate and share things, such as the Lenten Luncheons before Easter. The Ministerial Alliance also sponsors a Soup Supper in the Fall, to make money to help those in need, and we all help with our local Food Pantry.

TMI about my Saturday?  Sorry! ;)

I think I will go do some straightening up in my studio.  Need to be ready to start teaching in there soon!

Dishwasher isn't yet installed, maybe soon!

HAPPY ( BELATED ) HAPPY 55TH ANNIVERSARY.....PAT AND LARRY HANNA....

Hi everyone. We did get a brief shower yesterday in the late afternoon, which was most welcome.  It is to be a few degrees cooler today only getting into the low 90's.  We will be going to Sunday School, Church and then out to lunch at Ruby Tuesday's, where we have a coupon for a free burger because of Pat's birthday.

We did have a good time yesterday at the Chop House.  I enjoyed a nice salad, crab cake, baked potato and mac and cheese.  Pat had a nice steak salad and broccoli and Scott and Jennifer had nice meals, although the pork chops Scott ordered had been overcooked and were dry.  Before we went Scott helped Pat re-pot a couple of plants that had outgrown their containers into two ceramic containers we had and she is going to leave them out on the back porch for awhile.

Thank you all for the special Anniversary wishes and the birthday greetings for Pat.  Today is the actual day and she is now the same age as I am although I am about 4 1/2 months older than she is.

Jackie, the acid reflux can mimic other things.  I once spend a weekend in the hospital thinking a stent had closed up and after a cath the doctor determined it wasn't my heart at all but the acid reflux.  It sounds like you will be getting a second opinion from your regular GP.  Since I had an adjustable bed I keep the head up some and don't generally experience any problem with the reflux. I do hope you don't have further experiences with the feeling you had of stopping breathing.  Nice to see the new handrail was helpful to you.

Jeanne, you at least have a couple of options with the portable oxygen.

Janet, nice that you could help your granddaughter-in-law with the job application process.  We have never attended an Episcopal service but did attend a few Lutheran services years ago.  Our church does have Lenten services with several other churches in town, including a meal served before and then again after the service.

Jeanne Lee

Yes, Larry, I have a couple of options with the oxygen - the only option I don't have is to leave it home!   ;D   And thank God it is available.

Good afternoon!  We went to church, then the dinner, and the cake auction.
Some--well, most--of the cakes the kids made were very creative!  And none of them sold for less than $100.00!  The last one went for $300.00!  The people are very generous when it comes to helping the kids!

Beth and John were there, and she seemed to me to be more alert than lately.  I welcome and treasure any and every small improvement.  :)

Larry, glad you all had a nice time and good food at the Chop House, but too bad about Scott's overdone pork chops.  That's disappointing.

We have to go to Liberal to the VA again tomorrow to see if the bad UTI Darrel had has cleared up;
then on Thursday, have to go to the VA at Dodge to pick up his diabetic shoes.  Lots of miles!

Jackie, I hope you are breathing normally again now.  That was a scary episode!

Jeanne, Darrel's sister has to lug oxygen with her all the time, and like you, she is thin and not very strong.

I'm still waiting for word from Tiffany about her cover letters, and whether I was of any real help to her.  I hope so!  This is Mark's wife, the ones we will be going to visit in Florida in October.  She told me they already have quite a few places planned to take us.  I asked if we can go to Sanibel Island,
as I have wanted to go there for years.  She said "We absolutely can!"   :) :D 8)

I see we have another new member to welcome to CP.  I have already done so.

Has anyone heard from Pat lately?  I so hope she has gotten relief from the awful pain by now.

Hello everyone on this Lord's day. Larry the bread didn't taste much different that the regulat hald wheat half white that I always make. The Matcha bread did taste a bit like tea. Not m uch though.

Good message  at church today on Daniel 7 and Mathew 24, considering all that is going on in the world  at this time. North Korea, Isis, Iran and  the  constatn threat of terrorism.

...thank you yes I am, it seamed to be a one off...soon after I recovered from it my voice seemed to have changed, but no similar occurrences have happened since...

It is now coming up to my bedtime, 11.30pm so I shall say a good night, and prayers for our members so as when we awake we can face another day, whether it be good or bad....wishing all a peaceful and pain-free sleep, as we thank our " Maker " for keeping watch over us...

Monday, our starting of a fresh new week...our post delivery van has just turned up...wonder what will drop through our letter box...I am hoping for a large cheque, or any cheque will do really....if it does, that will be a first...

I have left Richard playing with the spiders...he is outside somewhere in our wooden shed clearing and cleaning up an almost brand new stand alone washing machine ( 6 months old at the time we moved ) that we had installed at our previous home but put in the shed a year ago when we moved into this home as the washing machine that we have is integrated into the cupboards...I am going to miss the washing machine when it gets collected by the charity tomorrow, the charity is called second chance furniture a charity to help families set up home...I am sure going to cry when its gone as its a d**n sight better than the one we have now...

I managed to book my GP appointment, I just got in in time to take the second from last appointment as my Doctor only works 3 days a week, 5 hours a day...Oh and I had to laugh when the receptionist answered the phone which took some time as her line was pretty busy...The surgery opens at 8.30am, I got through 10 minutes later to a voice who greeted me on the other end saying, " good afternoon "...I can tell this is going to be one mighty long day for her...

Hi everyone.  We are to have an overcast day with the temperatures around 90 degrees and a 50% change of rain later this afternoon.  The only thing I have planned to do today is a quick trip to Costco to fill the car with gas and to buy two or three items in the store.

Jeanne, I am glad oxygen is available to us when needed and that it can be portable.

Janet, it is good when the kids feel they were a big part of the fund raising for their activities.  Is this an annual affair at your Church.  Glad you noticed a small improvement with Beth and that she and John could be there yesterday.  I am pretty sure that Pat and I went to Sanibel Island the week we stayed at Punta Gorda in a timeshare years ago.

Marilyn, glad the bread turned out well.  We still have a bread machine but it has been years since it was used.

Jackie, has your voice changed back to normal from what you experienced? Your experience with the new washing machine sounds bit like our experience at buying a new range for the kitchen that Pat really liked just a few months before we sold our house and moved.  It stayed with the old house and the new range in this house isn't the quality of what we left.  I hope that large cheque was in your mail.  That is a rare event in our mailbox and certainly never a very large one.

Carol

I ran into a neighbor who is not well known here - she is reclusive and without a car.  So, I offered to drive her if needed.  She is very unusually secretive and no one has ever been in her house.  Not that I care to venture in there.  She does go to the same church if driven.

My cousin & husband are back in Minnesota.  Cannot imagine the pain and recovery he will have from a shoulder replacement & a few other smaller issues.

...my voice changed lasted a short time, before it got back to some form of normality...
Larry...no cheques yesterday nor any today....well we can live in hope, cant we?...oh how we know there is always hope...

...Saw the Doctor, I am to go back in a months time then we will take it from there, which just might be a change in BP med's, and to add water pills, which just make you pee more, as if I dont pee enough already... :o
Like all medical issues they try one thing first before moving onto the next one...It could be to do with the acid reflux or, as she is inching more towards...my BP med's ( Enalapril Maleate ) which could be having a bad side effect on me, re, my past coughing, choking, the closing up of my airways...Midway she mentioned the words of the tube going down my throat, as if she was going to refer me...I jumped in quick and told her...yes I had that 14 or so years ago when they found I had the Hiatus Hernia and Helicobacter Pylori which I was treated for...she then saw that written on the computer, so I dont know whether that was her next plan for me or whether that has now been dismissed and ruled out....I know which of the two I would prefer...
...oh boy, seems I maybe back on that medical roller-coaster...

Larry, I guess it is an annual event, as they did the cake auction last year,
too.  So by remembering that, I know we have been attending the Methodist Church for a bit over one year now.

Carol, I met a lady in a store here a couple months back.  I was looking for something and she helped me find it.  We introduced ourselves, and she immediately told me that she does NOT go to anyone else's house, nor does she invite anyone to hers!  I smiled and said, "But don't tell me that you aren't friendly, because I have already seen that you are!"  She said, yes she likes to talk to people, but she's not a "social" person.  I found that quite a strange conversation!  Nice of you to offer to drive her places when needed.

We have been to Liberal to the VA, then back in the car and back home.  First time that's ever happened!  We usually do a few errands, at least.  Darrel isn't feeling very well, and it's so hot out,
probably just as well to get back home.  We did go to the gym this morning before we left.

I'm sleepy, but want to get the last load of laundry taken care of when the dryer stops.  And I'm reading a good Christian novel on my Kindle, hard to put it down.

Larry, I've seen photos of Sanibel Island in the early morning, with piles of beautiful shells lying there for the taking!  We have been warned to get there very early, or there won't be much left!  I have a pretty extensive shell collection, from our Scuba diving, and really, shells are pretty heavy, when you think about the fact we are flying down to Florida and back!  But I couldd bring a few, plus as many pictures as I want!  ;)

Hi everyone. We will have another day like yesterday, i.e. overcast with possibility of rain this afternoon.  We will get to around 90 degrees again today.

Yesterday we did get some nice rain.  I did get over to Costco yesterday morning and it was a great morning to go as it was relatively cool and there were few people there, which seems to be an oddity.  I did get one of their rotisserie chickens, which we will have for our dinner tonight. I have no definite plans for today and expect to stay home all day.

Carol, your neighbor sounds like a very lonely person.  Perhaps as you get to know her she will become less secretive.

Jackie, it is always a surprise to me when a check arrives in the mail.  I can now make my deposits with the mobile app on my phone for my credit unions and I really like it as it saves trips to their facilities.  Maybe tomorrow will be the day for you.  Sure hope you are not back on a medical roller-coaster.  It seems that blood pressure medicine can cause some folks a lot of problems.  Fortunately the doctors apparently have several alternatives.  With my low blood pressure I likely will never need to take blood pressure medicine.

Janet, if the Methodist church we now belong to is any example, the youth are well supported and are an active part of our Church community.  It would be interesting to know some of the background of the ladies you and Carol encountered.  Will you be doing any scuba diving while you are in Florida?

All is well in my little corner of the world...at last we are having a day of rain...Larry, it must be your yesterdays rain we are now having...

I have my monthly MS social meet up in two and a half hours time, my leaflet tells me the speaker for tonight's talk is from the MS national centre who will be giving a talk about the national and local changes taking place in the MS Society, it maybe interesting or it maybe boring...

Larry Hanna...

Hoo Boy!!  It is HOT here today--near 100, on the way to 103!  With the hot,
dry wind blowing you wonder how any vegetation survives. :snowball:  Maybe this will make me "think cool!"  ;)

We went to the gym, came home and did a few chores.  The menu at the Senior Center was Ham and beans and cornbread, which sounded good, so we went.  Very disappointing, as the beans were so salty most of us could not finish them, me included.  Ack!  Why did they do that?  Lots of us hardly eat any salt anymore.  Oh, well, I'm sure I ate more than enough,, even with half a serving.

Larry, glad you had an easy and uncrowded trip to Costco.

I intended to go see Beth after lunch, but didn't have time as the housekeeper was due here at 1:00.
I'm very thankful for Maribel's help!

Jackie, enjoy your MS meeting!

This is Prime week on Amazon.  But I don't think we need anything!

Hello everyone. I've had a busy few hours so far today. I went to the gym  early  then prepared breakfast for Keith and I had a protein bar with my coffee. Next an other Freckles walk and then I really have to get busy on some PSP work for my stat group Busy busy.

Hi everyone. We start our day here sunny and clear skies.  It will be in the 90's this afternoon.  We had a very brief rain shower late yesterday afternoon.  I expect to stay home again today.  I will get things ready for a salad for our dinner with Scott and Jennifer.  They are going to fix the dinner for us.  Pat will go this morning to her crafts group at Church.

Yesterday afternoon after the rain stopped I checked the mailbox and as I left the house I saw this beautiful rainbow in the sky so took a picture of it.  Here is a link if you are interested.  This is looking up our street from my front porch:  https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipMtoDmq_kPQjtQT5v6EjFYHGjnPMev1lrcglUuY

Jackie, glad I could send you the rain.  Hope your MS social meeting was enjoyable and the speaker interesting and not boring. I have never had to have an Endoscopy.

Janet, too bad the Senior Center doesn't let people salt to their tastes.  I don't salt things and am pretty sensitive to too much salt.  I am happy for you that you now have a housekeeper to help you with the heavy work of cleaning.  I feel the same way about the Prime week on Amazon.

Marilyn, you sure did have a busy day yesterday. What type of bread did you fix?

Jeanne, I agree with your comment ot Marilyn.  I am getting where it is very tiring just to get things ready in the kitchen in the mornings and Pat is now taking care of her own breakfast.
