Prior to GPS, road trips were conducted using paper maps (which you could never re-fold correctly after unfolding them!). Even shorter car trips were made with directions scratched on a piece of paper. Getting there was not guaranteed. But today, drivers will leave the east coast by car, headed to California, with nothing but their smartphone. Because of GPS we can head into the unknown with confidence.

For similar reasons, the apostle Paul wrote that we can bear, believe, hope, and endure all things because of God's love in our life (1 Corinthians 13:7). Because God is love (1 John 4:8, 16) and His love is in us (1 John 4:12), we can go into an unknown future without fear. We can love others and love God because we know that nothing "shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

It was love that motivated God to reach out to mankind (John 3:16). That same love allows us to respond to Him and others in perfect faith.


Our response to temptation is an accurate barometer of our love for God.

Larry Hanna....strange thing was this morning, whilst I got to church with five to ten minutes to spare for once, gave me a little time to chat as I walked in, and was greeted...I found myself telling one lady that the distance to the village hall will be too far for me to walk, even if I took my rollator... she said it will be her giving out the church notices and will be mentioning that lifts will be available from the church to the hall, she has already made a note that I will be needing a lift....After the service and drinking our teas, there were very few parishioners today at our morning meeting, as many had gone to our sister village church where Communion this week was being held....I got talking again to the same lady after she had spoken and given out  the notices, I had picked up on her accent and asked her if she was American, she wasn't but she WAS Canadian...

Larry, I am sorry to hear, once again, your Pat wasn't up to attending church with you....

Jeanne Lee...think I would rather put my trust in God, in keeping us " on the straight and narrow, " than one of those GPS thingies such as Garmin, they are not always reliable, not that I have ever had the need to use one...but have been known to get people lost, or in a pickle of a mess... :P

We won't need a GPS to drive home.  We are leaving AZ a month early for a few medical issues - thankful that we are able to drive back.  We surely will take our time and make it a day and half trip at the least.  Our children will have the house ready when we arrive - so blessed.

Jackie:  It sounds like you have found a wonderful new home - church, I mean.

When I got to where my hospice  lived, I found out she had passed away 2 weeks ago.

It is a beautiful day here but there is a cold wind blowing.  Went to  church this morning and forgot to take my lyrics with me for my song, so I will sing "It is well with my Soul" next week, I have also picked a song to sing for Easter, called' I know My Redeemer Lives. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mj-pZQ_XjyU  I must tell you that I lo9ve to sing and worship.

Hi everyone.  We wake to an overcast day with the prospect of rain increasing through out the day. We expect to get to bout 75 degrees here today.

The activities surrounding the Master's Golf Tourney got underway yesterday although the actual tournament doesn't start until Thursday.  This is a week not to venture over to Augusta to eat out as the restaurants are packed from what I understand.  Many businesses depend on this week to get them into a profitable position for the year.

I haven't decided whether I will go to my Monday noon meeting or not as still feeling tired this morning.  Yesterday I ended up not going to church as my heart was acting up and I felt it wasn't safe to be driving.  So I ended up spending most of the day laying down and also went to bed early last night but still didn't want to get up this morning. I did go out at noontime and got us something to eat.  I fear I am reaching a point where I am going to have to cut out a few things from my schedule, although don't have a lot of things to cut out and hate to think about giving any of them up.  Guess I will just make the decisions day by day. 

Jeanne, I often hear Erwin Lutzer on the Christian radio station we have in this area.  He is a very good preacher and serves as the Pastor of the Moody Church in Chicago.  Thanks for getting us started on a new month.

Jackie, glad to see you made it to Church yesterday and that you spoke up about the help you needed to get to the after Church event. I agree that God keeps us on the straight and narrow.  My GPS has let me down a time or two but has sure been a gift with our move to a new location in finding our way around. 

Carol, sorry to see the reason you will be cutting your time in Tuscon short this year.  Nice that your home will be ready for you when you get back.

Marilyn, I am surprised the Hospice group would not have let you know about your last client.  That must have been a shock. I like both of the songs you mentioned and the Easter song is so appropriate for that day.  I expect our Church will be singing that as a hymn on Easter Sunday.

Marilyn:  Hospice should have alerted everyone involved with their patient.  Sad day!

The little Grapefruit Tree is now picked and neighbors have the fruit.  Most of everything is packed here - Don will go to the VA today and we are trying to redo the Going Home list since it disappeared from the computer.  Yes, the little dickens computer has taken it upon itself to merge our information but deleted an important list.  Gremlins in the system.  Anyway, we have another good day of work here.

Jackie Yes that is where I take Freckles. We take the dogs only if the patient likes dogs. I guess I do have a decent voice if the pastor is  asking me to sing. He was surprise that I have a wide range from  High Tenor to Bass.

Larry They usually do let our Hospice coordinator know and she notifies me but it didn't happen this time. she also  does volunteer work at the Hospice office so she will tell them about it.
|Today I am teaching 2nd graders about  Pet responsibility and safety. Tomorrow it is Kindergarten and 1st grade.

Howdy, Y'All!  I'm now using my brand new iMac!  It works great, and will be even better once I get used to it.  I took it and my old laptop to Curtis as he was staying home with his girls over the weekend, and he got it all set up for me and transferred the stuff from the old one.  But I had to laugh, as he had shown me several things last night before we brought it home, but this morning after we unpacked it and set it up, neither Darrel nor I could find the way to turn it on!  I had to call Curtis and ask! :D I was still talking to him when he walked in the door, as he was nearly here when I called.  He was coming to do some business in Ulysses.

We have Wheel of Fortune on, and there is a couple from Hugoton on it tonight!  That's where Diane and Jeff live, just 28 miles from here.  I called to ask if she knows them and she does.  Neat to have someone from way out here on it!   :)

Marilyn, I didn't answer your question about whether or not my new computer has a touch screen, as I didn't know yet.  The answer is no, it doesn't have.

Little Chelsea lost her first tooth the other day.  She was so excited, and had wiggled it and wiggled it, and was finally able to pull it all by herself.  She got FIVE whole dollars from the tooth fairy!  :o  I told her that tooth fairy must have made really good investments since I was a kid, because the most I got was a dime!  ;)

Larry, I'm sorry you aren't feeling strong, but so glad you know your limits and take it easy on days like this.  We all love having you around!

Carol, sorry you and Don are having to cut your time there short, but we all must do what we feel is best.  So glad your kids are preparing the house for your return.

Jackie, nice that you will now have rides to church.

I saw photos of Pat, her son and youngest grandson on Facebook.  I got the idea that she and Paul were on a trip visiting, but may be mistaken about that.

Hi everyone.  After a rough day around this area yesterday with heavy rains and several tornados in our county and in Augusta, across the river, this is a exquisite day.  It is clear and sunny and we expect to get to 85 degrees this afternoon.  However, the forecast for tomorrow is more of what we had yesterday and then it is to cool down and clear off and should be perfect for the Master's Tournament, which starts on Thursday. 

I just completed fixing Pat's scrambled egg and strawberries breakfast and then grated two pounds of cheese, which isn't hard using the grating appliance we have.  The hardest part is cutting the cheese into strips.  I plan on trying to get to Aldi's today as the refrigerator is getting low on several items.  That will be the limit of my endurance for today.  Fortunately I know where things are located at Aldi's and the store is small. 

Carol, that would be frustrating to have your information merged with Don's and then to lose an important document. Hope your preparations for your return trip are going well.

Marilyn, I am glad it wasn't your Hospice coordinator who dropped the ball.  If she wasn't advised of the death of the patient then she couldn't advise you.

Janet, glad you are now set up and using the new iMac and liking it.  You will soon learn to navigate it.  However, it is bad when you can't get it turned on.  :)  That will be a fun story to tell over the years.  I saw the couple of Hugoton on the Wheel of Fortune but don't remember how they did.  We think the Wheel is the fastest 30 minutes on television as it seems to be over right after it starts.  Losing a first tooth is a big deal especially if you can pull it yourself.  I would say the tooth fairy was very generous.  Does Chelsea have any concept yet of the value of money?

Jackie, in your profile I see a blue strip above your basic information titled "Summary".  If you don't see that, did you try clicking on the "Profile Info" button?  That should give you a drop down menu of choices, one of which should be "Summary".  Also, do you always make sure to log in before checking your profile?


Now I have a question for anyone... Instructions for my hearing aids specify not to let them get wet.  This means, of course, that for every shower and shampoo I need to remove them completely, which means I can hear absolutely nothing over the sound of the running water.  Does anyone know of a way to keep the shampoo away from them?

Jackie I apologize for not replying to you about the video. All I can say is Oh my MS certainly takes a toll on ones body  sometimes in a short time. My DIL is no where near that yet.

Janet glad you have your new computer up and running.

Larry I hear the Windows 10 has a new upgrade come out  called Creator something or other. Do I need to do a mirror image of my hard drive before the upgrade, what do you know about the Macrum optimizer also called ReflectDL?  Agust is where my son Ron is working on that nuclear plant, however at this time he is visiting in Arkansas.

My Subaru is leaking water almost as fast as I put it in, So it will be going to the shop very soon. Keith's Camaro is still in  the shop  and he will never ever let me drive the corvette, well maybe is his life depended on me driving his baby. So I am having to find rides to the furry friend activities that I am committed to.  Tomorrow at least  that  rehab facility is just A  few blocks from home and I can walk there,

Jeanne Lee, I have no problem with my profile in S & Fs, yes I get all of it...I tend to always stay permanently logged in on both sites...
On here....if I click on, " Profile " + Summery or " Profile " + Account Settings...the same page comes up on both...
I do have my " Modify Profile.." with six menus underneath...and my " Profile " with three menus underneath but as previously mentioned the top two bring me onto the same page with " Username - Email -  Choose password...etc...I seem to be missing " Profile Info " Summery - Show Stats - Show Posts......Hope I am not confusing you, starting to confuse myself now.." :D Oh well, what is to be, will be..."

Oh, what a day this has been!  It rained all night, and all day!  And it snowed, too!  I guess it was "snain"--snow mixed with rain!
  ;)  And only in the mid 30s, temperature wise.  I only went out to the mailbox, all day!  That's very unusual for me.  Really good sleeping weather, and my eyes wanted to do just that!

We had a most unwelcome and unpleasant thing when we got home on Sunday night.  Our cat sneaked into the house and hid--I think she suspected we were leaving.  When we got home and saw she had been inside all that time, we looked all over for cat "piles" but didn't find any.  However, when we got into bed----UGH!  The SMELL!  It was just awful!  Then Darrel moved his arm, tapped my elbow and said, "I found the reason for the stink."    That darn cat had peed on our bed!!  :ticked:  And she managed to get both bottom twin sheets wet (thankfully we have a good mattress cover on each of them.  But she did it right in the middle of the bed, so it soaked through a heavy comforter/bedspread, the electric blanket, top sheet and got through all the way.  You probably never saw two people get up and strip a bed so fast!  She must have done it more than just once, to have soaked so much.  When I got up in the morning, she was looking at me through the door into the garage.  I usually let her in and spend time cuddling her, but I just told her I was not happy with her and she could just stay out!  Of course, later I relented and let her in.  Darn cat!  That bedspread/comforter is probably at least 12 years old, and I was wanting a new one anyway.  And I was able to wash the blanket, but the other is just too heavy for my machine.  TMI, sorry.

Larry, Chelsea is six, so she does know money is to buy things, and that if she saves she can buy more, but no real concept other than that, I don't think.
  Yes, the story about turning on the computer will probably get a lot of mileage among the kids and grandkids!  I used to say, before I started using a computer, that I needed a class that started with "This is the "ON" button!  And this time I really did!  :lol:

Jeanne, I sure don't know of any way you could wash your hair without danger of getting your hearing aids wet.  I'm sorry.  It's terrible not being able to hear!  I can still hear pretty well, but the acuity isn't very good, so I would miss a lot without them.

And just using CP leaves an icon on my desktop now, so I won't have to bother Larry, after all!  I guess it isn't really an icon, but it shows several of the last places I visited, and that works!

Marilyn, I hope you can get your car repaired soon.  I cannot imagine Darrel not allowing me to drive his car.  He let me drive the Lincoln the day we bought it!  And the big pickup, too, and that's his baby!  I don't prefer driving it, it's so BIG!

Larry, the couple from Hugoton won $7000 on the Wheel.  Nice!  And I agree, that 30 minutes passes in a flash!

And speaking of Wheel of Fortune, it's starting!  So I'm going to watch it!  See you tomorrow!

Hi everyone.  It looks like we are in for another stormy and dangerous day around here with heavy rains, flash flood warnings and good possibility for more tornados in the area. Fortunately I have no reason to leave the house today. 

As I look out my office window is appears it is evacuation for our neighborhood as there is a large United Moving Van that was here all day yesterday and back this morning and another smaller van loading up from the neighbor across the street.  I spoke with that neighbor to say goodbye a little while ago and she said they are moving into a bigger house with a large yard for her two boys to play in and it has been hard on her living here as her mother, before she died, lived across the street and in the house next to us.  I will miss seeing the boys playing but they had to mainly play in the driveway and street in front of her house. 

I was on the phone early this morning with Comcast as my home closed wi-fi had stopped working.  The tech seems to have fixed the problem and all seems well again. 

The only thing on the schedule for today will be dinner tonight with Scott and Jennifer.  We will be having dinner here as there is no dinner at church the week of the Master's Golf Tournament.  Pat has one dish casserole planned for dinner and hopefully Jennifer will help make it unless Pat decides to go ahead and get it ready before hand. 

Marilyn, it is always a good idea to back up anything you don't want to lose.  I have never used Macrum Reflect DL so can't really help you there.  It sounds like your Subaru is going to require some expensive repair. 

Janet, I like your new word "snain".  It sounds like it was a good day to get some extra sleep.  We had a similar cat experience when we moved into our brand new house as the cat used the edge of the dining room to pee.  We couldn't get rid of the smell with shampooing and other things and had to pull up the carpet and replace the pad.  He had been very upset with being moved.  Glad you now have an icon on your desktop to get to CP.  That was a nice win for the Hugoton couple.

Larry My Subaru is going to cost about 1100$ to fix. The water pump will have to be replaced with the Timing belt, The water pump could be the reason for the leak, The towing was $85 and included in the bill. The diagnostic test will have to be run that is $51. in the total estimate. He is going to try to have my car for me by Friday. Keith's car will be taking a lot longer, the head gasket needs to be replaces as does the manifold gasket. Plus some other stuff.
How do you do and image backup of the hard drive onto a thumb drive. The thumb drive I have is  only 32 gigs.

I will soon be leaving for something going on at my church this afternoon...not too sure but it is an annual thing that I was told was a success last year and many turned up...it is to start at 2.30pm, just over an hours time, something to do with children from a school, or Schools coming in to sing, I am looking forwards to it even though I now have the starting's of a cold...I can expect the church seating's to get packed out, and will need to stay close to the loo...It is just me going, Richard of course will be taking me...I shall take my mobile so he knows when to come collect me.. :thumbsup:

Hi everyone.  After a rainy and dreary day yesterday the sky is clear and it is cooler here this morning.  It is going to be a nice day at the gold course for the start of the actual Master's Tournament and the rest of the week is suppose to be the same. 

We are down to one moving truck this morning and it is across the street.  I expect they will finish up soon.  The huge moving van was parked in front of the house next door lst night but was gone when I came to my office this morning.  So it is undoubtedly on its way to Texas.

This will be a busy day as planned now but I will just take it hour by hour.  I will go to coffee, making a brief stop at Walmart as I pick up my friend.  Then, as usual, will bring him home and go back to the Wisdom Class if I still have enough energy.  If we continue to have problems with our wi-fi I will likely take the Gateway modem back to exchange it this afternoon. 

I will have to be brief in comments today as don't have much time before I leave and still need to put together a sandwich.  Pat has given me a break this morning as she is fixing her own breakfast. 

Jeanne, thanks for posting the hymn.  I have always liked this one by Bill Gaither.

Marilyn, those timing belts need to be changed periodically as if they break it does a lot of damage to an engine.  Glad it isn't your radiator that is leaking.  Hope you get your car back tomorrow.  If your have more than 32 gigs of data to mirrow, which you undoubtedly have on your computer, I doubt that a thumb drive would work.  Since you are wanting to make a mirror image I would think it would take a backup source equal to or larger than what is being mirrored.  However, I am no expert on this subject and use a different back up approach by storage my files on the cloud.

Jackie, I hope you enjoy the program at your church today and that old cold is a very light one or doesn't develop at all.

Well I did go but I never got out the car, and with ten minutes still to spare....Briefly for a few seconds sat outside the arched porch-way, whilst watching a twofold or threefold line of small children all decked out in blue uniform, slowly, or at a standstill, being ushered by teachers, along the windy footpath to the front of church door, and inside, blocking the part where the loo was situated, of which I was needing the loo...So there was absolutely no way with my balance and walking, would I have managed to walk behind, or get past, so decided rightly so, in making the decision to give it a miss, and come right back home....Whilst passing several young moms, dads, even more teenage children still walking towards the church, all decked out in casual jeans and dark clothing... as for me, I was totally decked in light summer skirt...I know I made the right decision in not going in, as it would have been very packed inside the small space....with my poor balance, and my blurred vision, if I was to bump into any children or, go down, no-one would be able to get me back up, something I would have to do myself....today, I wasn't prepared to take that risk...

Jackie, it sounds as if you made the right decision in going right back home where you are safer!  While I know you would likely have enjoyed the children's program, we have to use our best judgement in those situations.

I am having some hang-ups with my new Mac, the main one being I seem to have forgotten my Amazon password.  Since I get a lot of books for my Kindle from there, usually free, I need that.  And I guess I will have to resort to calling them, as the email I sent has gotten no response.

Beth has been refusing her meals.   :'(  I encourage her to eat, and she usually responds well to me.  They came to church last night for the Wednesday night supper.  I asked John in advance to let me feed Beth, so he could have a break and enjoy his own food.  He accepted that well, and by feeding Beth small bites of the lasagna and green beans, avoiding most of the noodles, all of the salad, which she loves but hasn't been able to eat for several years without choking,
then cutting the fruit small, she ate the entire meal without choking!  Yea!  And I noticed John was eating slower, too, much better for his stomach.  Her friend Mindi is coming to visit her today, which always makes her happy!

We are going to Garden after attending the Lenten Luncheon, to buy a new rototiller, as our old one won't run anymore, even after lots of work on it.  It was really old.

The Republicans just deployed the "Nuclear Option" and Judge Gorsuch WILL be confirmed by tomorrow night!!  Sad that such an eminently qualified judge couldn't be confirmed with a big majority, and not have to resort to this, but there is no end of stubbornness and obstructionism in the Senate, I guess.

Marilyn, what year model is your Subaru?  I had one, many years ago, and it was sure a dependable little car.  That's the only car I ever bought on my own,
and I was single at the time.  Kerri ran off the road in the mud and smacked a telephone pole with it, while she was in High School.  Thank God, she wasn't hurt!

We need to pray fervently for our President and other leaders.  These are dangerous times, what with Syria, China, and North Korea acting up; and maybe Russia too.  I wouldn't want Trump's job for all the money in the world!!  And he is doing it for no pay!

Larry the Radiator  is where the leak was, but it was still under warranty   as they had replaced that a year ago so I don't have to pay for that. However the timing belt and water pump will be replaced and the spark plugs and all the wires. one of the plugs was fouled with oil so they are taking care of that too. It will be almost $2000 for my car.  Keith Camaro is 17 yrs old and never had any work done so it  need a lot more than mine and will be slomost $4000 by the time they finish with it.

We are home after taking a day and a half to drive the 900 miles.  We stopped in Santa Fe for the night and it was really cold there compared to where we have been all these months.  On the drive home, our oldest son and wife passed us as they drive faster and left later.  They had the house all set when we arrived. Grocery shopped and a crock pot is simmering the chicken vegetable soup I put together.  We are feeling the effects of the higher altitude.

The first day was really hard driving with high wind warnings and thick dust that just seemed to always be close but never closed the highway.  After Santa Fe, ice on the highway.  Always something!  Heavy snow all along the Front Range - a wonderful gift every year.

Janet, as a long-time Mac devotee I'm sure you'll be happy with yours once you get all the wrinkles ironed out.   :D   I'm so glad you had success helping Beth with the dinner.  It always helps to have Mom take over when we're "down".  Maybe John learned something from it, too.  :)

Marilyn, my subaru was 19 years old before I finally had to give up on it.  It probably would have kept on keeping on longer but the last two or three years I wasn't using it enough - and they do need regular exercise just like we do in order to function properly.  It finally got to the point where repairs would cost quite a lot more than it would be worth.  So I had to decide to do without a car.

Carol, good to  you've arrived safe and sound.  I'm sure it's always a weather shock when you return.   :D

I'm trying to post more often. I had that period of sleeping almost constantly. A friend way out west in Montana told me that she, too, had a period of sleepiness with waves of nausea, and that's exactly the symptoms I had. So, now I'm awake longer periods sometime in the 24-hr day.

Jackie, I'm thankful you were able to get to church. Since I cannot be in a worship service within a church of my faith, I've found a wonderful website that gives Sunday morning worship from beginning to end. And, it is both live-streamed, and then put on the website for later worship, should the need arise.

Yes, the diabetes causes me plenty of ups and downs. In fact, today I had another low blood sugar. I try to keep the lows to an absolute minimum, since below a certain number, that being 70, the organs in the body sustain damage. I've been diagnosed to have gone into diabetes in 1973, thus far I still have my eyes, kidneys, and feet and legs. So, I praise our Lord for His goodness to me. I'm feeling fine now.

Janet, how sad I am about Beth's condition deteriorating. I'll continue to pray for all of y'all, and the medical staff supporting her.

Marilyn, wow - that's a lot of repairs needed at this time.

Larry, I continue to pray for you and your family, too.
And for so many others, including Pat, Jeanne, Judy and John, and others who come to read, but don't post very often.

Hi everyone for a bright and sunny but soon to be pretty windy day here in North Augusta.  It was 51º out when I got up this morning but should get into the 70's this afternoon. 

My big activity for today is to make the trip to Madison, Georgia to have lunch with a group of my friends with whom I use to have lunch with about every week before moving.  I am looking forward to seeing them as it has been awhile.  The housekeeper will be here while I am gone and probably the lawn people. 

Yesterday afternoon our granddaughter came over and she and Pat fixed a big recipe of cookies and then she helped fix tacos for our dinner, which were very tasty.  I also met our new neighbor who started moving in the house across the street that was vacated yesterday morning.  He is a young bachelor and very pleasant to speak with.  He said he had very little to move as he has been living in an apartment so the move won't amount to much. 

Carol, glad to see you are safely home and I bet that home looked mighty good to you after the road trip.  It sounds like you had a rather rough trip whether wise.

Jeanne, I well remember you writing about going out to your car only to find the battery down due to lack of use. 

Ruth Ann, tht diabetes is a viscous disease that can do so much damage. Thank you for our prayers.  Pat has stopped taking one of her medications as it was causing her such itching all over her body and it has seemed to help.  Unfortunately the fibromyalgia is hitting her big time now.

Good Day all, I am up early and trying to start a new morning routine with a bit more effort at drinking more water and so forth.   I always try to read devotions first and foremost and sip a cup of coffee but now will sip water.  It just isn't fun to drink water.

Ruth Ann:  When you wrote of your friend having the same sleepy days, it sounds like something you caught.  Perhaps it was mostly because of less sunlight and that may help change your habit.  I can take a nap sitting in a chair very easily.  Thank you for your message of blessings that we do all receive - it is nice of you to remind us.  Blessings to you as well!

Larry:  How nice of your granddaughter to not only visit Pat and you but fix a meal and cookies as well.  Super sweet! 

Both of us are having allergies or the beginnings of colds.  Certainly hope it is not a cold.  We have not rested since Tuesday night with children visiting and so forth - love to see them. 

Larry:  Don's school (Univ. of Minnesota Duluth) beat Harvard in hockey!  Little old UMD!  He is thrilled.  It s situated on a hill overlooking Lake Superior and you cannot believe how cold it can be in any season.  There are tunnels all over so now students can walk underground and not have to brave the wind, snow, sleet and all.  When Don took a grandson there to check the school, the snow was horizontal.   ;D

HI everyone.  It looks like it will be a beautiful day with little wind after two very windy days.  I am sure the golfers are delighted.  It is chilly this morning but suppose to get up to 70 this afternoon.

I had a wonderful time visiting with 5 of my friends who met me for lunch in Madison.  I had no trouble with the drive but was really glad to get back home so I could rest.  Rest is also my goal for today although there are a few chores I need to do but can take them slowly. I need to grate another pound of cheddar cheese, fry up a pound of sausage and also mix up and bake Pat's breakfast sausage muffins.  I have no intention of going anywhere today. 

Ruth Ann, it is good to see your hello as tells us you are still OK.

Carol, glad that UMD won their hockey game.  Those tunnels sound like a wonderful idea.  Hope you both are not catching a cold and happy to read you are drinking more water.  It is easy for we seniors to get dehydrated.  Unfortunately, I have to watch how much water I drink everyday and that has been a big change for me as I have always liked water.

I got my car back. it was just over 2000$, They had to flush the cooling system twice because there was some white  powdery stiff clogging up[ everything. I was told to always use the same brand of coolant. weThibnk it may have been cause by some old coolant that Keith found in  the garage and put in the radiator and overflow  chamber. It could have beedn a chemical reaction. no one knows for sure. It runs great now. the check engine light that has been on since right after we bought the car is now off.

Hi everyone.  It is another glorious Sunday morning with the sun out and no wind.  We should get up to 77 degrees this afternoon and this will be a perfect day for the conclusion of the Master's Golf Tournament.

We had a most pleasant and unexpected surprise late yesterday afternoon.  We have a step-grandson whom we hadn't seen for more than 7 years.  Our granddaughter arranged for he, his wife and two young boys (9 years and 9 months) to come over and see us.  We had a nice visit and then went to Pizza Hut for dinner with them.  They are coming back over sometimes this morning.  I have a commitment to bring the devotional at Sunday School this morning so will go to Sunday School but not stay for church so I can be here with them as long as possible.  The little nine month old is a pure bundle of energy and is crawling and pulling up and is very strong and heavy.  He kept us all entertained. 

Marilyn, glad to see you got your car back and while the repair was expensive it was no where near the cost of buying another car.  I hope it now gives you many miles of good service.

Good Monday morning, the start of another week, cant believe we are now four months in already since Christmas,
they say, as we get older, time fly's, well that seems to be very true...

Not much happening in my non-exciting life but, a parkhome notice was put through our door saying a brand new parkhome coming in two halves will be arriving on our site sometime today....Our private long downhill drive at some point will be closed off for that hour to any other traffic, so no one will be able to get in or go out, there are no other ways...The transport that carries the half newly built parkhome passes the two brick walls at the top of our slope, one being our property, the other, the other side of the road, our home is always the first to get past, we are top of the slope, so this shall be fun as we have heard that it has nipped our wall in the past, as the transport takes that tight corner.....

Hi everyone.  We are in for another very pleasant, sunny and warm day here in South Carolina.  We had another nice, although short visit yesterday at lunchtime with our step grandson and his family before they left to return to their home near Atlanta.  I did go to Sunday School as I had made a commitment to bring the devotional so I went but didn't stay for church.  On the way home I stopped at Krogers and got three large subs, potato salad and cole slaw and a big bag of various small bags of chips for our lunch.  It was quick and easy.  It wasn't the best lunch but it served the purpose.  As soon as they left I laid down but got involved in the golf tournament and couldn't go to sleep.  Needless to say I went to bed early last night.

This morning I emptied the dishwasher and fixed Pat's breakfast.  Pat had ordered some new Corelle dishes to replace the plates, etc, that we had been using.  They came yesterday so I unpacked them this morning and got all but two sets in the dishwasher.  The other two sets I will wash by hand for use this evening for our dinner.  I also need to grate a pound of cheese and make more sausage muffins for Pat's breakfast.  However, I needed to rest so am now in my office doing that as I write in the discussions.  If I am not too tired I will attend my noontime meeting and then stop at Costco for a few items on the way home.  That will be it for today. 

Jackie, I agree with you that time really is flying by.  Already we are at a third of April gone.  It sounds like you will have some excitement in your neighborhood with the new park home being delivered.  I hope they don't tear up your fence.

Carol, I agree with you that we are privileged to have Jesus Christ as our personal savior.

I am happy to bring you an update on Beth's condition.  She seems to have decided to stay with us for a longer time, so has started eating a little bit better,
has even gained a pound or so, and her countenance looks so much better!  Of course I am really pleased with this, even though I would understand if she wants to go on to heaven.  John says he knows Beth will be here for a long time, as he doesn't believe God would bring them together, let John retire and move to Kansas and marry her, only to take her to heaven after only 15 months together.  She called me earlier--or rather, had one of the girls call me, to tell me she wants to see me.  I had spent a couple hours with them yesterday, reading to them, etc., and had brought her a small milkshake.  She ate all of it!  Not exactly health food, but there is nutrition in it!  So as soon as I finish posting, I will go back to see her.

Carol, sorry you had bad weather on your way back to Colorado, but glad you're back home.  I asked Darrel this morning how he is enjoying Italy!  He said it looks an awful lot like Kansas to him.  We are at peace about our decision to cancel the trip, as home is where we needed to be while Beth was struggling so hard.  And while I feel the crisis is past, she will need careful watchcare as long as she is here with us.

Ruth Ann, so nice to see you posting more often and sometimes a bit longer posts.  I hope you're feeling better.  Do you no longer attend the church service there in your building?  There are some wonderful services on TV and the internet, which is such a blessing for those who cannot get out to attend their favorite local church.

Marilyn, glad you're getting your Subaru repaired, and hope it will serve you well for a long time to come.

Larry, so glad to read that you got to see your Step-grandson and family after such a long time apart.  God seems to be healing your family, and I'm so happy for you and Pat.

I had a short note on Facebook from our Pat, in reply to a comment I posted on one of her photos.  She still needs our prayers.

Jackie, sounds as if you are getting some new neighbors!  Hope all goes smoothly with them getting their new home past the gates!

Hi everyone on a bright and sunny day.  It looks like we will get up to about 82 today.  Not feeling very peppy today and guess I just got overtired yesterday.  It doesn't take much anymore to do that to me.  I did not get to Costco yesterday and Pat plans to go with me this morning.  This afternoon after 3 pm I will drive down to Walmart to pick up another online grocery order.  I sure love this method of buying groceries.  I will take the rest of the day quietly. 

Janet, certainly encouraging to read that Beth is doing better and wants to fight to stay on living.  I doubt you will ever regret not going away on a trip at this time as you obviously are needed by both Beth and John to help keep their spirits up.  Thanks for the little update on Pat.  I keep hoping that she will get better so she can once again have enjoyment from life. 

Jeanne, don't sell yourself short as you are a blessing to us all. I often am neglectful in expressing my appreciation to you and others for all that is done to keep these discussions together.

Good morning!  At least it's still morning for another hour here.  :)

We have been to the gym, our first day back was yesterday, after almost two months' absence.  And boy!  Could I ever tell it this morning!  I wondered for a bit if I could even get out of bed, I was so sore.  But we went back, didn't do a whole hour as Darrel was expecting a call from his financial people at 9:00.  And he didn't get up early enough to get to the gym earlier.  At least I did enough to help work out the soreness.

We have flown United so many times, and I am distressed to see the video of them dragging a doctor off the plane, just to accomodate 1 of 4 of their own employees.  This matter should have been handled at the gate, not after passengers were seated!  And why didn't they offer the monetary reward to all passengers before boarding?  I feel sure they could have found four who would have taken the money.   :(

My painting week (the once yearly one) is coming up the first full week of June, and I want to be prepared for a change.  I am terrible about procrastinating getting ready for that class that I love.  Why?  :-\  I have no idea.

Jeanne, you are so sweet and so modest, but my statement still stands!  We love and appreciate you, as well as valuing your friendship.   :grouphug:

Larry, I think so often of you, and greatly admire your attitude about the limitations your heart puts on you, and how wonderfully you handle it.  It makes me consider my age, and the fact that, even though I'm in excellent health, I have no idea how long or short my time here on earth may be.  But when He takes us to be with Him, what a day that will be!  We are winners!  What a reunion!  We will have new, glorious bodies!  We will see Jesus!  And so many other joys we haven't begun to imagine!  When I ponder heaven, I get homesick!  Well, anyway, dear brother, we love you and are rooting for you, of course with the hope you won't leave us anytime soon.  :thumbsup:

I'm getting used to my new Mac.  The biggest downside is that I see I need some glasses with only the bifocal lens as my neck gets painful from looking up at this big screen.  Have to call my eye doc. ;)

Jackie, yes, God does still have plans and purposes for Beth's life.  I trust Him completely and know He loves my daughter more than I ever could.  Thanks for your kind words.

I will soon be leaving for my monthly MS social evening, 7 - 9.15pm...this will be my second meeting since Christmas as January there was no gathering, then last month I purposely boycotted it as the MS Nurse was visiting to give a talk as she was retiring...this was the same MS nurse who I had to put some formal complaints in about...Our meetings start with someone coming in to give us a talk, followed by the raffle, then ends with the trolley round of teas and goodies, I usually plump for the cheese sandwich biscuits and square of cheese, sometimes they have grapes but, I usually say no to the chocolate cakes and biscuits...Well at least it gets me out for a couple of hours, and hopefully someone to talk to......

This morning I got busy after coming home from the gym and pruned the bush that is by the front door. I sure whacked the heck out of that bush. I carried 5 bundles of branches to the backyard and fell  taking the last one back. I didn't get hurt though. I little while ago I swept all the stuff left  into a pile for Keith to pick up and put in  the garbage. There is a light rain here today, I took Freckles out for 2 walks anyway.

I am going to have to call my Medigap insurance and see if I can get a prior authorization for my chiropractor. Medicare used to pay part of it  now, the Medigap doesn't cover chiropractors. That is the only way I can  manage  my back pain other than taking pain pills and I don't want to do that

Hi everyone on this beautiful Spring Day.  It looks like it will be another very pleasant one.  Our family is going to have our traditional Easter Dinner late this afternoon as Scott has to work Sunday afternoon.  We bought the ham but Jennifer is preparing it.  Pat told me the different dishes we will be having but not whether we were making them or would depend on Scott and Jennifer to prepare them.  They are both good cooks and getting these big meals is almost beyond Pat now.  Pat is getting showered before her breakfast this morning and hopes to have enough energy left to go to her gifts group this morning.  I hope she can go as it is good for her to be with the ladies and she always enjoys the group. 

Yesterday, for the first time in almost a year she decided she was going to drive and she took herself to our local Walmart to pick up a prescription and get a few other things.  She said she got along well and her back cooperated as long as she kept moving.  Yesterday was truly a lost day for me as after I finished posting in the discussions I went back to bed for the rest of the morning, got up and ate a quick lunch, and then laid back down for a couple of hours more.  I was just too tired yesterday to try to get to Costco as we had planned.  I seem to be getting to a point where all I want to do is lay down and rest.  I certainly don't feel depressed just weary after I do just a few things. 

Janet, thanks for your kind comments.  Glad you were able to get back to the gym.  I can't image what the United Airlines employees were thinking (or not thinking I guess is the problem) to take such drastic actions.  If they need the seats for their crew then perhaps she shouldn't overbook and sell those seats.  It is terrible PR for them and will put doubt about using them in many people's minds.  Their stock value even declined yesterday.  I had thought you had gotten an Apple laptop computer.  It does sound like you could benefit from computer glasses. 

Jackie, glad you got to attend your MS event even if the speaker didn't show up.  I hope you had a good time and how did you pass up the cake?  :)

Marilyn, it sounds like trimming bushes is a hard job for you with your back problems.  Glad you didn't get hurt from the fall, which is easy to do walking in a yard.  Hope you feel OK today.  Too bad your insurance will not help with the expense of the Chiropractor.  We are allowed 12 visits a year under our policy.

Hi everyone.  We are headed up to the low 80's this afternoon with a 20% chance of showers.  We had a delicious early Easter dinner last evening.  Our granddaughter fixed the ham and it was delicious.  Pat fixed our traditional green been casserole and the 5 cup salad and also a nice potato dish that was new to us but sure we will have again as Pat said it was easy to make.  Scott switched printers between the one in my office and the one Pat had been using but that I couldn't get to print after clearing a paper jam and replacing an ink cartridge.  As soon as he brought it into my office it stated working.  Pat's upstairs printer in her sewing room says it has a paper jam but both he and I tried to find it without success.  He took that printer home with him to see if he can find it. 

We plan a fairly light day today.  I am going to pick up my friend and go to coffee, will return him home and then make the decision whether to go back to the Wisdom class or not.  I have spent a good part of the last two days just laying down and resting.  We are planning on going out to eat this evening for our main meal as Pat said she just plans on taking it easy today as she had a full day yesterday and needs a day to recover.

Marilyn:  Sorry about your fall - it sounds like you didn't hurt yourself so that is great! 

Larry:  We are not as peppy as we used to be - I fell asleep in the chair this afternoon.  If I don't sit in that chair, I can stay awake.  Earlier, I had been sorting things for donations and just to have less in the closet. 

I need a smaller crock pot too and had it on my list at the WM - well, walking all over and even looking at my list, I was checking out when that thought finally came to me - so today Don is ordering one from Amazon.  It takes a lot of time and effort to walk all over these huge stores. 

Still behind on our visiting here in the housing area and an email just arrived - would you be able to put us up on Tuesday next week?  Sure.... Don's cousin & wife on their way to Minnesota.  They are great! 

I found all of the ingredients for a bean casserole that has 5 kinds of beans and must have been used for 40 plus years.  Now to find out if our daughter wants me to bring that or something else.  She has been out of the area (Minnesota) flying back and hosting our Easter meal that may be either Saturday or Sunday.  It all depends on the three college kids coming.  Our granddaughter wants us to meet her boyfriend of a half year - he is in veterinary school so this will be interesting. 

My family used to go to Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services as well at Sat and Easter morning.  We didn't discuss it this year.

I'm again having to feed and care for my sister in law's cat. He is really missing his "mom."  She's hospitalized  right now.  I pray she has more time with us.

Fortunately, she only lives half a block up the hill and there are no steps to negotiate.  :)

Just back from an enjoyable one and a half hours at the village hall, down the road from my church, where today lunchtime they held their Soup and Pud....not a lunch but as it states, a soup with crusty buttered bread, followed by a pud, which today was a crumble and custard...the local vicar and his wife who also sits in an vicar when he holds service at one of the other three village churches were both also present, it was of course because of Easter and offered a hot cross bun and coffee or tea...I was made very welcome, a drop in session, and well looked after...They even hold a small raffle where one of my numbers allowed me to choose my own prize of a well known make of hyacinth hand cream...which I am glad was available as with my right hand neuropathy I tend to use a fair bit of hand-creams for lubrication, as that hand is like a dried shrivelled leaf with mild pins and needles and numbness......

Hi everyone.  We have another beautiful day and will get into the low to mid-80's this afternoon with no chance of rain.  I don't intend to go anywhere today.  Yesterday left me exhausted.  We did go and have Chinese last evening for dinner but doubt we go back to the restaurant. 

Carol, I have  very comfortable new recliner but just never go to sleep in it or the old one either.  Pat is preparing on online Costco order this morning and I asked her to put on it several non-perishable items I would normally get in the store so we can shorten the shopping time.  We have wanted to go there all this week but just haven't felt up to it. I see your company parade continues.  I would like to attend our Good Friday service at church tonight as it is the choir singing with Scripture but pretty sure I will not be going and attending the Easter Service Sunday is questionable.

Ruth Ann, do you go to your SIL's place to feed the cat?  Sorry to here she is hospitalized again and hope she can get better.

Lord Jesus, it's hard not to feel conflicted about calling the day of your crucifixion "good." That there had to be a day when you—the eternally glorious, righteous, loving Son of God, would be made sin for us, is not good at all. But at the same time, that you would freely and gladly give yourself for us on the cross is never-to-be surpassed goodness. It is quintessential goodness.

From the cross and your heart, came these two impassioned cries. "Father forgive them" (Luke 23:34) and "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Matt. 27:46). The first required the second. The second secured the first. Together, they humble our hearts, silence our words, and fuel our worship.

And then there's the third cry. "It is finished." Nothing is left undone, concerning our salvation and for the transformation of our world. Once and for all, perfectly and fully, we have been reconciled to God. You became sin for us, than in you, we might become the righteousness of God (2 Cor. 5:21)—the Just for the unjust, the Beautiful One for the broken ones, the Lamb of God for the rebels from God. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

A millions years into our life in the new heaven and new earth, we'll still be filled with childlike wonder and ceaseless gratitude, for your sacrifice and love for us. Because you were fully forsaken, we are forever forgiven. Because you exhausted God's judgment against our numberless sins, we now live by the gift of your perfect righteousness. We bow our heads in awe and raise our hands in praise. So very Amen we pray, in your all-glorious, all-grace-full name.

I just touched something on my keyboard that wiped out all but the last half sentence of my post!!  And I don't see an "Undo" button like I had on my PC.  Frustrating!

Pat, thank you for the beautiful words on Good Friday.  That term really troubled me as a child, until I realized that without it, there would be no redemption from my sins; no way into heaven!  We just got home from Good Friday service at out church, and it was very meaningful.  This is the first time we have been attending a  church that holds both Maundy Thursday and Good Friday Services.  Last night's service was different than any I'd ever attended.  There were twelve tables around the perimeter of the fellowship hall, and after we had a fellowship meal together and the Pastor read the Scripture account of the Last Supper, when Jesus told the Twelve that one of them would betray Him, the lights were turned out, leaving only three candles on each table for light, and twelve men who had volunteered, one by one (acting the parts of the Disciples) read what they had written about their meeting Jesus, becoming close friends with Him and walking with Him for three years, ending with their dismay that Jesus said one of them would betray Him, and asking "It couldn't be me......could it?" It was a really meaningful service.

Pat, I am so sorry for this VERY LOOOONG and hard time you have had/are having health-wise.  I knew it had been far too long, but didn't realize it's almost 18 long months!  And my prayers continue for you, dear friend. And Larry,you and Pat have had more than your share. As have Jeanne and Ruth Ann.  Well, most of us who are still posting on this site are in the same age group, and those things do come with the passing of the years, I guess.  But we never want our friends to suffer!

My precious granddaughter Abby just called to thank me for the Easter card I sent her.  She has grown up into such a sweet and thoughtful young lady.  How I love her!  She got neither today nor Monday off classes, so won't be home for Easter, but it isn't long until college is out for the summer!

I need to do a couple things and then get myself to bed, see you tomorrow!

I came back to thank Pat for passing on the photo of the cross made with hands.  My scrapbooking group did that last summer, but didn't get it as nicely as this!

Hi everyone.  Today starts with another bright and sunny morning.  However, the forecast is for cloudy this afternoon but getting up to around 84 degrees.  Later this morning I plan on going to the Masonic Lodge as this is their annual BBQ Dinner to raise money for their charity work.  My friend who told me about the event said one dinner should be enough for Pat and I to share.  So I will get one meal and we will have it for our evening meal. Nothing else on my schedule for today. 

Yesterday was basically another lost day as I spent most of it just laying down resting and listening to music.  I took a diuretic pill this morning as my exhaustion could relate to the Congestive Heart Failure and fluid may be accumulating around my heart.  I hope this helps as want to feel up to attending Church tomorrow.   Our choir did their Easter music last evening as a part of the Good Friday service but I just wasn't up to attending. 

Carol, Pat liked the Chinese place and it was OK but not my favorite.  However, she said the food was too rich so we probably won't be going back for a long while if ever.  Fortunately we live close to the Costco as it is probably about 3 miles from us and an easy drive.

Pat, thanks for the Good Friday piece.  I have wondered about the Good Friday designation but hope I understand.  Glad to see you posting and know it has been a long, long struggle for you.  You certainly don't need to apologize.  You know we all love you and pray for your recovery. Janet, I did a quick Google search and found this information on how to undo an action on an iMac:  Undo and redo actions. To undo the last action, choose Edit > Undo from the Edit menu at the top of the screen, or press Command-Z. To redo the last action you undid, choose Edit > Redo from the Edit menu at the top of the screen, or press Command-Shift-Z.  This year our church also had a Maundy Thursday and the Good Friday service.  Unfortunately I didn't feel up to attending either of them.  Is Abby looking forward to the summer vacation from college?

We have been watching a series on the bible on t.v. and it showed the parting of the waves as Moses led his people - it looks so real.

I brought a double batch of Don's biscuits and gravy over to our faithful neighbors.  He has been lovingly cared for since the leukemia diagnosis years ago and is so weak.  She fell on the ice and broke bones in her elbow and hand and for 2 1/2 months there has been either a family member or friend staying with them.  Amazing family and friends.  Now the good news is that therapy is supposed to help so she should be able to grip the wheel of a car and drive again - prayers answered there. 

Looking forward to the favorite music on Sunday morning - play it loud and proudly!

Larry Hanna....sad you have had to miss various church functions over this Easter holiday period due to your exhaustion...I can understand your reluctance on going as I too am rather glad my top of leg is playing up with its electric shock, and spasm'ing  movements today, and not yesterday, as I would not have been capable of attending yesterdays mid day church related function...I know you would not appreciate me mentioning but, I am concerned over your health at the moment, re, your mention of " congestive heart failure and fluid build up..." as I always say..." act on your own gut feeling, if something doesn't feel, or seem right, it most probably isn't...do not neglect it and hope it will just go away, or right itself...at least you are doing right in resting up...

Happy Saturday! I just finished baking Empty Tombs for supper tomorrow night at the grandkids, as I thought they will be a good object lesson on Easter for the great-grandgirls.  But they were a lot more work than I'd counted on!  Now my back and shoulders hurt.  But I can rest, as have no big obligations today.

Larry, Abby is looking forward to the summer break, even knowing it will be a hard summer for her.  She is determined to take as much responsibility for her college expenses as she can, and has already obtained employment for the summer.  She got an internship with a crop quality service.  She will be working 6 days a week, walking around 20 miles a day, checking weeds, soil moisture, health of crops, etc.  She will have a company vehicle to drive from field to field.
She won't have any free time to speak of, but she says she is determined to do it, as she will make enough money to last her through the next term, and possibly a little to add to her investments Darrel has started for her.  Last summer she took care of a little girl, whose parents paid her very well, and she has stretched that money to last the whole term!  (Any wonder we are proud of Abby?)  :) 8)

I need to go see Beth.  I want to ask her if she would like something pretty to put in her hair for church tomorrow.  And I need a couple things for a cute project I want to do with the little girls tomorrow.

Jackie, I didn't mean to exclude you in my mentioning those dealing with problems in their health, as I did think of you, and hope you knew you were included with the rest.  I hope you feel especially good tomorrow for the Easter service!

Hi there, Carol!  Darrel would love some of Don's biscuits and gravy!  ;)  He was saying yesterday that if he wants to eat that, he has to drive over 200 miles and pay over $100.00 to get it.   :D  He was referring to the fact that when we go to Oklahoma City to fly on a trip, the motel where we stay has that for breakfast.  I told him he could cook it himself cheaper!  LOL  And likely a lot better, too.

I'm going to rest a bit, then go to town.  I'm glad I only have two stops to make there.

Good afternoon we have made our weekly Walmart run this morning and gone for a walk . I now have a loaf of sour dough bread   in the oven. I just make the dough in  the machine anymore and do the rest by hand and bake it in the oven.

Singing practice went very well last night.  I will sing at the end of the service which I think is an appropriate time to sing "I know my redeemer lives. I wish I could remember how to sign the song as I sing. It has been too long since my college days when I learned to Sign language and not using it. We are having a  breakfast potluck at church before the service. I am making an egg, hash brown, tri color peppers, turkey sausage, pepper jack casserole  to take for the potluck.

I've got my share of painful problems, That is why I go to the Chiropractor so often rather than take pain pills. I only take those when absolutely necessary. The back pain  coupled with the PTSD  can make times very difficult Oh an the Peripheral Neuropathy   from time to time. I pretty much have that under control by taking 1000 mgs of Magnesium every night. If I keep moving, exercising and walking I do better than just sitting around all day.

Hi everyone.  We have a another nice day for Easter.  We will miss the Easter service today as just don't feel up to getting out.  I hate to miss going as it is one of the few days we see our church generally full. 

Yesterday I did drive down to the Masonic Lodge and purchase two of their BBQ dinners.  There was so much food that one of the meals feed both Pat and I last night with some BBQ and hash with rice left over.  We will have the other dinner for our main meal today.  The food was delicious and they sure had a big turnout with cars everywhere.  Fortunately, I was able to park very close to the line for the take out meals. 

I did watch the golf yesterday afternoon and will do so again today.  It is a very tight match with a number of players in contention.  One of the players tee shot ended up on the bank of a water hazard.  When he got to the ball there was an alligator at the every edge of the water close to his ball.  Play was delayed until the caddy took a golf club and nudged to animal and it went under and out away from the bank. 

I read this a little while ago and found it quite interesting so wanted to share it as it fits with the Easter season:

Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection?
The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave clothes.The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded and was placed at the head of that stony coffin.

Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, 'They have taken the Lord's body out of the tomb, and I don't know where they have put him!'

Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see. The other disciple out ran Peter and got there first. He stopped and looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in.

Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus' head was folded up and lying to the side.

Was that important? Absolutely! Is it really significant? Yes! In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day.

The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every  Jewish boy knew this tradition.

When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it. The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch that table until the master was finished...

Now if the master was done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers and his mouth and clean his beard, and would then wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table.

The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days the wadded napkin meant,  "I'm finished..."
But if the master got up from the table and folded his napkin and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table, because....the folded napkin meant
"I'm coming back!"  AND  SO  HE  SHALL


Carol, it is pretty amazing what they can create on the computer that isn't real.  Nice of you to take food to your disabled neighbors. 

Jackie, thank you for your expression of concern for my health.  I have been dealing with heart problems for over 30 years.  I am just hoping this is just an abnormal time and not what the future holds but only time will tell.

Janet, I have never heard of a baked "Empty Tomb".  I just looked them up and saw a picture of them.  All that walking and being outside this summer will be quite a task for Abby.  She is an unusual young lady and sounds like she want to be very independent.  I hope Beth and John were up to attending church this morning.

Marilyn, fresh baked sour dough bread is so delicious. Hope you enjoy singing your solo at church this morning.  With all of those good ingredients your casserole must be delicious.

I am not going to complain about the church service today - it is what it is and apparently what the youthful crowd is pushing.  We arrived early for the chapel service at  7:30 am and we were told to go to the main auditorium for an 8 am service.  (Nothing we could find on the internet site).  People had tickets for seats but they found two seats in the 2nd row in front of all the speakers.  You would not believe the loud music - it was almost staggering to us and I saw a few walk out.  We cannot go there - feeling so sad about the entire thing.  I am going to the women's study this week but we will try to go either Wednesday nights or even Saturday nights and if that doesn't work, we shall have to search again.  It is fantastic to see the growth of youth -

Otherwise, it is sunny and a little cool now and I keep working on cleaning and purging stuff.  We had a nice visit with youngest son and wife.  He has been working so hard both at his job and on the house - a new house behind him has built a barn and that place will have a few horses.

...on the one hand it is good to know so many young are attending church in today's society, on the other hand, maybe their kind of church is not catering for all ages...It may take you some time, but shop around until you find a church you are both comfortable in, if that is possible where you live...I am comfortable in my small church as the parishioners tend to be mainly seniors, although this was the first, and only church, that I have attended since moving here a year ago...

Hi everyone.  We have a sunny morning and should see 86 degrees before the day is over.  Yesterday was a very quiet day with my main activity being watching the golf tournament from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  For the first time ever a man born in South Carolina won that event.  We were able to have our second dinner from the Masonic Lodge BBQ event last evening.  I have no particular plans for today.  If I feel up to it at noon I will attend my Monday noon meeting. 

Ruth Ann, glad you are able to connect to your worship service online.  The miracles of electronic.  Later this week I can go to our Church's website and hear the sermon from yesterday since we missed the service.  I just have to remember to do so.

Carol, too bad you were subjected to sitting in front of the speakers.  I don't think I ever heard of a church service that required tickets to get in. I hope you can find a service that you both can be comfortable attending.   I become very annoyed by the very loud, clanging noise behind most commercials on TV anymore.  I don't consider it music as most often it seems to be a few notes played over and over. Occasionally I hear a commercial with soft music in the background and what a nice change.  Does your son live on an acreage?

Jackie, glad you like the small church you attend in your area.  Our Church has an early service, a contemporary service and then the traditional service.  I see a lot of older folks attending the traditional service and more and more young people.

It is so nice outdoors and we shall take a walk soon.  I read what I wrote yesterday and know that I won't give up on the Wednesday bible group.  Don has a cousin and wife arriving tomorrow and we believe they will be leaving the next morning because of their commitments in Minneapolis. 

Larry:  Don cannot hear when music is in the background and someone is speaking.  He believes his latest aids are worthless so he has another appointment next month.  ----sigh ----

Jeanne, thanks so much for posting my all-time favorite Easter hymn!!  It just doesn't feel complete on Easter unless I get to sing He Arose!   :thumbsup:

We attended the early service, done completely by the young people, and what a great job they did!  And the music wasn't loud!  Then they served breakfast to everyone, followed by the regular service.  So we were in church from 8:30 until 12:30!  It was great!  Then we came home, rested, had a hamburger, and watched TV for a while before driving over to Moscow for supper with the kids.  Wonderful day!

Yes,Carol, Abby is our treasure!  And I am delighted that grandson Mark and wife (in Florida) went to a sunrise service at Bok tower, then to church, and daughter who had been away from church for years also attended sunrise service, breakfast, then church, with her new boyfriend.  Praying for your family pays, even when it sometimes to take forever to see the results.  Now, to keep praying for all of them, and especially the two grandsons who are out of church.

Larry, that alligator had no idea it was delaying the match!   :D  Good it only took a little prodding to get it to move.  TV time is expensive!  :)  I hope you felt up to going to your luncheon today.

Marilyn, I go to my chiropractor pretty often, as well.  I truly think those adjustments keep me from having far more serious problems.

Darrel helped me rearrange my "office" (actually a corner of the living room) this morning.  I remembered a narrow folding table I have, got it out and measured the height, found it is 2 1/4 inches shorter than my desk, so I'm using it now for the Mac.  We put my little desk behind me against the wall so I can have the things in it I need handy.  If this doesn't work, I'm not sure if I need computer glasses or a new chair!  :-\  Curtis came by a while ago and got the Mac connected to the wireless printer, so that's another step in the right direction.

I pray our Pat had a good Easter, and maybe even felt able to attend church.  I know she really misses that!

Carol, I sure hope you and Don can find a church where you will be comfortable, especially Don, with the music level.  Why do they think louder is better??

HUH!!  Darrel just got a letter from our doctor FIRING him as a patient and forbidding him to go to another doctor at that clinic!!  Can you imagine?  He was unhappy because Darrel didn't have a list of his blood sugars when he went in the last time.  I knew I should have gone with him!  I have an appointment with him tomorrow, and that will probably be my last visit to him.  We did notice the terrible surgeon who almost killed Beth is now the director of that clinic,
another good reason to go elsewhere!

Hi everyone pn an overcast morning.  We do have a 60% chance of rain this afternoon around 2 pm, when I have to drive for about 30 minutes to get to a new doctor's office.  I am seeing a dermatologist just for a check up since I have had carcinoma in the past.  I plan to eat an early lunch and then rest for 90 minutes or so before leaving. I did not attend my meeting yesterday as had to make a trip to the church to drop off the peanut butter and jelly to Pat's Circle meeting.  Then I stopped at Aldi's for a few items.  Pat had planned to go to Aldi's but just was in a lot of discomfort.  By the time I got home I was ready to rest for awhile.

This morning got off to a rocky, although as I think of it now a rather humorous one.  However, I didn't feel that way when it was happening.  I was fixing Pat's breakfast and got the water started for the coffee, including putting the coffee pod in the coffee maker.  When the lights went on indicating it was ready I pushed the button and continued to make Pat's breakfast.  When I went to get the coffee I discovered I had not put a cup under the spout so had coffee all over the counter.  So I cleaned up the mess and started the water for an actual cup of coffee.  When I went to get it I saw I had a nice cup of hot water as had forgotten to put the coffee pod in the maker.  The third time was the charm and Pat actually had a cup of coffee.  Fortunately I didn't burn her scrambled eggs.  In the scheme of things this really wasn't important at all just aggravating at the time. 

Carol, too bad that Don's hearing aids haven't given him any quality of hearing.  Hope you enjoy a nice visit with Don's cousin today. 

Janet, our young Church folks are pretty amazing.  We have a youth Sunday and last year we had a middle school Sunday and then a high school Sunday and all of the kids did a great job.  Glad you had a great day.  We should never give up on our children getting back to Church when they have been brought up in the Church.  I saw this happen with our daughter and am still waiting on our son but at least he is coming to the Church for the Wednesday night meals. They were brought up in the Church.  I had to wonder if the alligator at the edge of the golf fringe was just licking it lips anticipating a hearty meal.  It sounds like you have a nice desk and computer arrangement now. We did not attend any of the Easter services last week as neither of us felt up to it.  Was this a local doctor that fired Darrel?  If Darrel has a smart phone I am sure there is an app where he could record the blood sugar counts as taken.

Hi everyone on an overcast day here in South Carolina.  We are suppose to get up to 80 degrees this afternoon.  Yesterday afternoon we had a series of very nice rain showers.  We needed the rain.

I did see the dermatologist yesterday and all was fine.  He did freeze off a little growth on my temple simply because it bothered me.  Today should be a pretty laid back day.  Our granddaughter arrived a few minutes ago and she and Pat are headed to Costco.  Pat wants to get there when they open at 10 am so she can get a riding cart to get around in the big store.  We have our Wednesday night dinner at church tonight.

Hi everyone.  It is a bright and sunny morning here and headed up to about 85 degrees this afternoon.  I have a full morning planned as need to stop at the bank for some cash.  Then will pick up my friend who lives just up the street from the bank and we will go to coffee.  I will bring him home and then stop at the barbershop in the Walmart Shopping Center as really need a haircut.  Finally, will go on over to the Walmart to pick up two prescriptions and get a couple of other items.  I will come home and have lunch and then will take it easy for the rest of the day.

Today is the 18th. anniversary of Columbine high school shootings.  The principal had a safety facility named after him yesterday - very emotional.  It was unbelievable that day - and a few weeks later I remember visiting the makeshift memorial. 

Clouds are coming and it will be cooler for a few days.  We had a wonderful visit with Don's younger cousin and wife and they want us to stay with them in Minnesota and gather their brothers and sisters so we can meet again.  Everything I fixed for food ahead of time turned out OK and easy - still, visiting just wore us out.  Wish it wasn't so. 

Time for coffee - I did the treadmill today and listened to the radio instead of walking outdoors.  We are more adjusted to the higher altitude but I won't run up the stairs  ;)

Carol  I was remembering Columbine this morning I  so vividly remember that day and oh how I prayed for the kids and the families. It was on my TV and I just prayed and prayed.

Freckles and I will be going to the Hospital shortly to visit the patients. There will be 6 teams 2 teams per floor.

I was taking care of a little grandson a day or two after Columbine and one of the students killed had lived in that house previously.  Massive bunches of flowers were delivered to the front door with requests from Larry King, Oprah and others so I had to find a neighbor there who knew where the family had moved.  I cannot explain how sickening the whole ordeal was - and only stopped at the makeshift memorial once. 

We may have snow in a bit - it is that time of the year. .

My sister in law is now out of the hospital, but seems very weak. I continue to be concerned about her.

I'm also dealing with a recurring pancreatitis problem. It should go away soon, at least I hope so.

Never realised it has been four days since I made my last post, even though I come in daily to read....My thoughts and prayers are with all who are dealing, and coping with their own illnesses....As for my top - inside of right leg has become alive with movements these last few days, more than usual, so not been out and about as the leg is not trust-able at the moment...Anyway, my leg does what it wants, when it wants, it controls me, I have no control over it...Other than that, not much else is going on apart from our weather is changing for the better...We saw an ambulance passing down our slope yesterday so wondering which neighbour was in trouble, anyway I am sure Richard will get the feedback when he is out walking Toby, if he is lucky to see anyone as we are very remote on this small site...Well I am posting now at 6.20am, my first cup of tea in hand, my first cup of many...

Hi everyone.  It looks like we will be getting up to 87 degrees this afternoon with only a slight chance of rain.  Today is the day for the housekeeper to be here and then we plan on going out to eat in the late afternoon for our main meal and as far as I know there is nothing else on the calendar for today. I do have to contact my cable provider (Comcast) this morning as my special pricing ends on the 24th for my internet service.  I learned the other day that my bill will likely be increasing $20/month even with their best plan unless something has changed in the last couple of weeks. I also need to check with Dish as my two-year contract with them has expired or will in a few days. 

It was nice to sign in here this morning and see all the postings as the last few days have been very boring here with only my daily postings.

Carol, unfortunately school shootings seem to be on the increase but at least not to the magnitude of the Columbine.  That was a terrible tragedy. That was quite an experience you had with all the flowers delivered to your house.  It sounds like you would be all set for a visit to Minnesota.

Marilyn, I am sure your hospital visit with Freckles was well received yesterday and was also a source of joy for you and Freckles.   

Ruth Ann, will you still need to make daily visits to your SIL's place to check on her.  I hope she will soon gain strength. Hope your pancreatitis only pays a short visit and soon will be gone. 

Jackie, I hope you are holding on to your walker with your leg doing its own thing. Glad your weather is changing for the better.

Well sadly I have just this minute heard about the person that last nights ambulance went to...It was Allan who has people divided on our site as he is someone who says it like it is, he even had his parkhome painted a deep blue, and not the usual pastel shades, which caused a bit of a stir, there was even a petition being sent around,...but I liked him for that reason, as what you see with him was what you got, very blunt and outspoken, well sadly I have now learnt that he has died, he died in hospital after the ambulance had worked on him for one and a half hours inside his home, so someone on our site told Richard this evening whilst out walking Toby...I feel very sad as I really did like him, although his attitude may have not been to everyone's liking...The last time I had spoken to him was exactly one week, and almost to the same time that we had taken our Benji to the vets to say goodbye end of last November, where we had passed and stopped briefly on our uphill outbound road, where we wound down our car windows and I had said to him, " you did hear that we lost our Benji a week ago today? and if you can, at 5.40pm please say a prayer on behalf of our Benji and think of him, " he said that he had, and he will....then Richard chimed in by saying in front of him,  that maybe Allan is not religious...causing me to reply, " that not everyone is like you "... that was the last time I saw him to speak with...Well I wont be seeing his car being very slowly driven uphill with his dog Coffee leaping out and running along behind it any more, during the winter months when the trees and hedges were bare I could look out my kitchen at the back and look the length of our private parksite road, and smile as his dog wandered along behind, occasionally stopping to have a sniff, before he got to the top and the opening to the rolling hills one side, and the deep valley to the other.....

Another hindsight I forgot to add was, the first time I was introduced to Allan, he stopped in his car whilst on site, he told me his name and told me everybody knows him by the name of " miserable git.." which made me smile and kindof broke the ice, he also mentioned his daughter has MS, and was losing her sight, so he understood where I was coming from, I warmed to him straight away...this has come as quite a shock to me that he has died, although the ambulance had been called to him a couple of times during the 12 months we have lived here and  took him to hospital where he suffered duodenal ulcer complications, and gallstone blocked bile duct, ( two separate hospital trips, ) if I remember something had burst...I dont know if our site comes together regarding situations like this, re, donations  collections for reef - flowers, and details on attending his funeral, we shall wait and see...

Hi everyone.  It is another beautiful day that should reach into the upper 80's this afternoon.  When I got up this morning Pat had already gotten up and fixed her own breakfast by microwaving a couple of the sausage muffins, fixing her coffee and having a little bowl of fresh strawberries. So before I had breakfast I grated a pound of cheddar cheese and cleaned and cut up a big stock of celery.  I then had my breakfast and hope that in a little while I will feel up to fixing some coleslaw for our dinner tonight.  We have a rotisserie chicken in the refrigerator and some fresh ear corn so some coleslaw will make for a pretty good dinner tonight.  I don't plan on going anywhere today.  Yesterday evening we did go to Ruby Tuesday's and had a good dinner. 

Jackie, sorry to read of the loss of your new friend and neighbor.  It takes all types of personalities to make this an interesting world.  It sounds like Allan walked his own path without much regard for what other might think.   It sounds like he delighted in being a bit of a maverick.

It is raining on the grass and shows snow on the wood fence.  Our daughter and SIL are coming for a visit today, for sure they have snow at their home because they are closer to the foothills and a bit higher altitude.  Springtime in the Rockies - do you remember the song?  Weather is always up and down with real springtime weather a tease some days.  Some areas in the mountains have over 300 inches of snow and yet we are low in moisture here. 

Grateful for daughter and SIL taking the time to visit -  :)

Larry Hanna....you are sure a dab hand at fixing breakfasts and foods for your supper, I guess you have learnt doing that as you go along, when giving a helping hand to when Pat had not been feeling up to doing it herself...

Well for once Richard has tickets for the theatre tonight, and a show that I said I would like to see, think it is on next week, well this all sounds good but, it is a good two to three years since the last time he took me anywhere in the evening apart from my monthly MS group meeting and now he doesn't stay there with me...I dont know what I am seeing tonight, I shan't look it up as it will spoil the surprise, just that he told me he is sure that I will enjoy it...anyway it will get me out for once...and on that positive note, my top of leg movements, and stomach bloat has eased compared to my last few days...so should be more confident out walking, causing less discomfort..

Sorry I have missed a few days here!  I have been using my iPad to read email and FB, to help my neck problem.  I still need computer glasses, but don't want to pay the price they would cost locally.  :-\  So I hadn't been on computer for a few days.  I really must do better!

Yes, Larry, the doctor who fired Darrel is our local doctor.  I saw him yesterday and he was really nice to me, and very concerned because I have been having dizzy spells.  So I now have an appointment with a cardiologist for May 17.  I'm not worried about it, but those dizzy spells have been happening more and more often.  I had several of them today.  So I guess it does need to be checked out.

Carol, I know what you mean about getting worn out.  I'm wondering  where all my energy has gone.  Not fun (in some aspects) getting old!

Jackie, I hope you had a really fun evening out!  Good for you to go out and enjoy yourselves!

Larry, it is aggravating when you make mistakes like that and cause a mess to clean up, isn't it?  It sure happens to me sometimes!  :-[

They are having a show called Spring Fling here this weekend.  It's out at our big Civic Center, and they have all kinds of booths with different things.  I walked around for two hours and didn't buy anything, but just enjoyed visiting with friends I hadn't seen in a long time, and a few vendors I'd never met before.  I had a good time, but then had four dizzy spells and decided I needed to get myself home!  Those spells only last a few seconds, but sometimes I have to grab hold of something to make sure I don't fall.  Phooey.   :(

I have a bandaid on my index finger and cannot believe how many mistakes it is causing me to make as I type!  Crazy!

Hi everyone.  It is another lovely Sunday morning here in South Carolina. I really have nothing to write about yesterday as spent almost the entire day laying in the bed as just couldn't get rid of the dull pain in my chest.  I did get a good nights sleep and got up feeling better this morning.  I fixed Pat's breakfast and emptied the dishwasher and am now having my breakfast.  I am very hopeful that I will be up to attending Sunday School and Church this morning.  Pat will not be attending. I will pick up something for our lunch and that will be it for today.  I plan on watching the end of the golf tournament down in Texas in the late afternoon. 

Carol, I do remember the song you mentioned.  With all that snow in some parts of the mountains will there likely be a lot of flooding in some areas as it melts? Glad you could visit with your daughter and SIL. 

Jackie, I had to learn some cooking skills as Pat just wasn't up to it for most of this last year.  She has started to do more in the kitchen.  I am not sure she is feeling any better but I think she is trying to spare me when I am not feeling good.  Great that you were able to attend the show that you want to see.  I love live theater but am doubtful we will be going to shows in the future. Several times over the years we have had season tickets.  That is now out of the question as who knows how either of us will be feeling on a given day and need to remain flexible and the tickets are too expensive not to use them. 

Janet, isn't the iPad a handy device?  I do hope your neck is feeling better.  Glad you are going to get checked out for the dizzy spells.  While I am a pretty good typist I only use one finger to type using the keyboard on the iPad or the iPhone. I seem to make a lot of mistakes on the iPhone as the keys are so small and often hit the one next to the one I want.

Hello!  We are just home from church, and since we haven't gotten into a Sunday School class since the pastor stopped teaching the one we were in and it "dissolved", we get home early!  Our Municipal Judge brought the message this morning, and she is so good!  I always enjoy hearing her speak.  She is my partner on the visitation teams for the care home, too, and she's a delightful person.  I always enjoy being around her.

When they have the children's time, called Steps of Faith, I so enjoy seeing all the little ones coming so eagerly to the front.  And we all learn from their little lessons, too.  I guess I'm still a child at heartT  ;)

Larry, I hope your energy allowed you to attend church today.  Enjoy the golf tournament!

John and Beth were at church this morning.  I just feel so bad for her that she can no longer speak.  It seems cruel to me that she can't have at least that ability!  So frustrating for her!

They are having a Spring Tea for the ladies and girls of the church, and guests, this afternoon.  They asked us to wear hats if we have them.  I tried on some of mine this morning, and Darrel's expression said, "Uh, that does not look good on you!"  So I'm trying to figure out what to wear.   :-\ :-\  Not the most pressing problem in the world, I know!  :lol:

I want to go back out to Spring Fling and get a couple things I saw, so I'd better be about getting with it!

Frozen chicken is thawing and I am going to try to make a crock pot dish with French Provence seasoning.  this will be another trial meal.  Don is used to my off-the-cuff meals.  Sometimes good, sometimes not.

Janet:  Be assured that having Beth just attend your church is helping people keeping her in their thoughts and prayers.  She is a testament.  As for dizzy - are you taking in enough water?  I mean we are supposed to down about six glasses per day and this is a lot. 

As for the snowfall, there will most likely be floods with this pack and the foothills areas and such will be on alerts.  We  are quite a distance but have seen the ravine in back filled to the brim so that is when the authorities come out and stare at the water level.   ^-^

Hello everyone. It sure has been a few days since I last posted.  Our church is getting ready for the annual Rummage sale next Saturday I am thinking that I really need to go see what they have. I am looking for a dress to wear to the summer wedding at Black Butte Ranch. Keith's youngest son is getting married on Aug. 22 at the same time as the Solar Eclipse. He planned it that way. So if I can find a dress my next search will be for a floppy summer hat. Freckles is also going to the wedding as my Service Dog.

Hi everyone on a cloudy and rainy morning here in South Carolina.  We had a nice shower early this morning and I don't know about the night as didn't stay awake to find out.  I have a batch of Sausage Muffins in the oven as Pat finished her last muffins this morning.  I am getting the process down to where it doesn't take very long and I put things away as I use them.  I am resting while they cook and later this morning want to make up some coleslaw, which I have mentioned for a couple of days.  If I feel up to it I plan on attending my Monday noon meeting but I have a couple of hours before needing to make that decision. 

I did get to Sunday School and Church yesterday.  We had things here for lunch so didn't have to stop and get something to bring home.  After lunch I turned on Don's radio program and closed my eyes.  I don't think I heard all the pieces that were played but enjoyed what I heard.  I got up and watched the end of the golf match.  It was nice to see someone win on his 180 or 181st try.  That is determination.

Janet, I always enjoy the children's sermon as you never know what the little ones will say.  In our Minister's article in our weekly newsletter this last week he wrote about being so shocked when the week before a little child asked him what the children's sermon was going to be about that day.  He was shocked as apparently in his over 30 years in the pulpit and giving children's sermons that was a first for him.  He wrote that he doubted the children cared or remember what the children's sermon was about and that he was going to have to rethink the matter. There is one little boy who always wants to sit right next to the preacher and you never know what he is going to say.    I think it is remarkable that Beth is still able to attend the church service.  I am sure she is an inspiration to many in the congregation. Hope you enjoyed the Spring Tea.

Carol, over the years Pat has tried different variations on recipes and generally they are quite good.   I bet yours are good more often than not.

Marilyn, hope you find the garment you want at the Rummage sale. I really like that song you are planning on singing soon at your church.  I really like listening to the Gaithers and their featured singers.

Another Monday is half gone already!  Boy, the weeks fly by!

I enjoyed the Spring Tea!  :)  Before I went I did go back out to the Spring Fling.  This morning, Pioneer Electric called to tell me my name was drawn for a prize, and I could come out and pick it up.  I did, and it's a nice lamp, with a glass shade, quite heavy; a desk lamp.  So that's a nice surprise!

Darrel had me to re-book the trips we cancelled yesterday, then this morning he said he doesn't think we need to spend the money right now.  We have until May 7 to cancel and get a refund of our deposit.  It's okay with me if we wait until later to go, as I am wanting to go to Florida to grandson Mark's around that time anyway.  (October)  We are going on a bus trip to Kentucky in Sept. to see Noah's Ark and the Creation Museum.

Carol, I try to drink enough water but am aware that a lot of days I don't.  Will try to do better!


Marilyn, I can sing in those ranges easily, too.  I'm thinking of joining the choir.  I have been asked to join, and since Darrel is in it, I have to wait on him while they practice anyway, so I might as well.  They do need more voices.

Janet we don;t have a choir. We have one lady who plays the guitar and leads worship, and Me who does solos from time to time. Our pastor plays several instruments, piano, guitar, Ukulele and electronic keyboard. Sometimes he  jhoins Debbie . If Debbie isn't there then he plays the piano or we choose songs from a list on the computer.

Hi everyone.  We are going to have an overcast day getting up only into the mid-70's with no predicted rain.  My big activity for today is our monthly Adult Fellowship luncheon at Church.  Our entertainment today should be fun as it is two men, one plays the piano and the other the tuba.  They sing and tell jokes and apparently are very entertaining.  I am going to take the rest of the morning very easy as yesterday worked a little too much and wasn't up to attending my noon meeting.

Janet, you seem to be very lucky in the drawings at the Pioneer Electric.  If my memory is correct you have won some nice things there before.  That sounds like a very nice lamp.  It sounds like you and Darrel have fun planning trips for the future.  I understand the Noah's Ark is really something to see.  If you are up to it I am sure you will enjoy singing in your church choir.  I don't recall you mentioning that Darrel sang in the choir.  How big a choir is it?  Our church has a good sized choir, probably around 40 or so singers.  Are you a soprano or alto?

Marilyn, it sounds like you have a very talented pastor. How big a congregation do you have in your church?

Ruth Ann, was happy to see you indicate the pancreatitis has gone into hiding again.  I really miss not being able to sing in the choir anymore but found it was just leaving me drained as it takes a lot of energy to sing.  Years ago we were charter members of a new Methodist church that was starting in our area.  We met in a double-wide mobile home and did have a small organ.  On occasion I would play for the services.  I also did that a lot as I was growing up in my home church if the regular pianist wasn't available.

We are going to buy license plates for a car today - and wondering how long the lines will be after lunchtime.  Wishing the flow of newcomers would trickle down here.   Houses are still selling in one day - no matter what is available. 

The spices in the French Provence dish were just OK - the taste was nice but little shards of it just did not soften even after soaking them for hours,  so that wasn't good.  Oh, well - I tried.   ;) 

Tonight is quilting - way across town.   :)

Larry our church has approximately 40 me3mbers. It is a small church located inside a building that has a few offices.we have suite #4. There is the main room as the sanctuary. a kitchen with a small foryer leading to that, 1 classroom, a small music room where the instruments are stored and of course the restrooms.

Keith goes back to the Dr. today to check the results of his latest PSA testing then tomorrow he goes back to the tyt clinic tor another peripheral vision test. It is a very busy week for us.

Larry, Darrel just recently joined the choir.  He was always in Boys' Glee Club and mixed choir in High School.  There are only about ten people in the choir now; not many for a congregation averaging 110-150.  They used to have a large choir, and several who played piano and organ.  Now they only have a pianist once in a while (I think they pay her on those occasions, as she isn't a member) and the pastor plays guitar the rest of the time.  Sometimes my friend Lou Ann plays guitar as well.  I guess not that many people take piano lessons now and stick with it, which makes me sad.  I am a soprano, but not a  really high one.

Darrel and I went to Hooker and Liberal today.  In Liberal we tried a new Vietnamese restaurant.  I had Chicken Clay Pot and Darrel had Chicken Fried Rice.
  Mine was spicy and his was mild.  I teased the waiter that if I ate a clay pot, I might break my teeth.  He began to explain to me that the food was COOKED in the pot--then he saw my grin and knew I was teasing him.  I know him slightly as he is the husband of the gal who has been doing my nails.  In fact, the first time Abby and I went to Hooker, he did my pedicure!   :)  His brother just opened the restaurant and Kevin was helping him as he is short-handed.

Carol, I got our car tags a couple weeks ago.  That's a real pinch in the pocketbook!  But I didn't have to wait at all, and the girl was really quick in doing it.

Ruth Ann, good to read you are feeling better!

I didn't make it in to see Beth and John today, so that will be on my agenda tomorrow.  I do not miss many days.  I'm reading them Frank Peretti's book Wounded Spirits, as I felt they can both relate.  John got a new computer so he doesn't listen now.  he's on that thing ALL the time!!  I know he needs something to do while there with her, but she is starting to feel neglected as she can barely get his attention now.  God love 'em.

Hi everyone on a beautiful and sunny morning.  We will be getting up to around 85 degrees this afternoon. 

I will probably stay home today until late this afternoon when I will go to the Church for our Wednesday night dinner and expect Scott and Jennifer to come and eat with me.  Then they will be out to visit with us for awhile.  Pat is planning on attending her craft group at Church this morning and will stop by the beauty shop for a haircut on her way home.  She got up before I did this morning and prepared her own breakfast. 

Yesterday I did attend the Adult Fellowship meeting at the Church.  We had a basil tomato soup and salad with dessert.  The program was the piano and tuba duo and they made a very pleasing combo.  The man playing the piano was probably 80 and the other man probably in his late 60's or early 70's. They said they were both self-taught.  They played a combination of secular music and a couple of old standards.  The pianist played in a very upbeat, almost boogie  woogie style.  It was a very enjoyable program. 

Carol, I hope the line wasn't too long as you got your new license plates.  Our county opened a satellite government office in our little town city hall and that is where I went to pay my taxes on the car this year and was shocked when the new tags were on the receipt.  It didn't take me more than five minutes and didn't have to make the trip to the county seat.  The read yesterday that there is a real shortage of homes and it is really a sellers market all over the country now.  The house next to us was under contract within a week or two after going on the market.  We should have some new neighbors soon and I saw a couple of cars there yesterday.

Marilyn, your church sounds like it is about the size of the small church I grew up attending in our little town.  I hope Keith got good results from his PSA test and will also have good results today on his peripheral vision test.

Janet, it sounds like you are needed in your church choir.  Do you have a choir director?  Our church where I attended growing up was too small to have a full-time minister so he had to teach at the high school.  He did not serve any other church and was at our little church for many years.  I don't think we have ever eaten at a Vietnamese restaurant.  I am sorry to read that John gets so occupied with his new computer that he may be neglecting Beth.

John had his surgery on Monday. He has done very well and looks like he will be coming home tomorrow.  I am going to set up a bed in a downstairs room so he doesn't have to climb the stairs when he needs to lay down.  He has said he is in less back pain now after surgery than he was before and that includes incision pain.  He is getting all the tubing (IV and Pump) out today as well as the catheter. He has been walking around as well.  Life will be much easier with him home!

Judy....it is good seeing a posting from you....I, being quite new on this forum, have not been following your John's medical issues, but, happy to read all went well and he is feeling less pain and discomfort since his surgery procedure...Yes all we crave is an easier life, well that, and a blessed life, that is both calming and tranquil, and oozing with positivity, that things WILL get better.....well that will do for a start...

Right now, I am taking a break from cleaning the kitchen floor and vacuuming the carpet.  Uff da as mom would say. 

A neighborhood friend picked me up for bible study this morning.  In two more weeks, they will close that class for the summer.  Tomorrow, we will drive to Fort Collins and plan a late lunch with two of the grandchildren.  We will have overnight guests any time now before the month of May. Working on the latest quilt takes a backseat at times and then it is hard to get in the groove again.  Just to keep something going, I am hand sewing some binding on pot holders.  All this fabric is leftover scraps from larger items so not much goes to waste.  I use one layer of ironing board fabric between the two battings and that keeps a persons hands from getting scorched.  (Larry - Pat knows what I mean about that thin insulated fabric). 

JUDY:  Prayers for John's recovery - it is very nice to read that is pain is lessening.

Judy!  What a pleasant surprise to see  post from you.  I recall that John had een having back problems, but I didn't know he was scheduled for surgery.  Let him know I'll be praying for quick recovery and complete elimination of pain.

I've missed seeing you in here. I know you've been very busy but I hope this means you'll be coming around more often again.   :thumbsup:

Hi everyone.  We start today off on an overcast note.  We do have a 40% chance of rain today and will be getting up into the high 80's this afternoon. After a pretty much wasted day yesterday spent mainly laying down resting, I feel more alert.  I will be picking up my friend at the assisted living facility and we will go downtown for coffee with other friends.  I will take him home, as usual, afterwards and if I still have enough energy will go back downtown to attend the Wisdom group with the pastor.  That will be it for today unless Pat wants to go out to eat this evening.  We did have a nice visit with Scott and Jennifer after our dinner at Church last evening.

Judy, good to read that John's surgery is now over and he is in the recovery mode.  I sure hope this helps stem the pain he has been suffering.  I hope you have been feeling well.  It has been a long time since we have heard from you and both you and John have been missed from our discussion here. 

Jackie, glad you benefited from the "Great Physician" piece I posted.  I also thought it was very good.

Carol, last night was the last night for Wednesday night classes and other activities at our Church except for the Wednesday night dinners, which continue through May.  Pat has made many pot holders using the fabric you mentioned.  She also wastes no material  and finds some use for the small pieces.  I bought a pair of those silicon oven gloves to use when I have to take things out of the oven and they work very well.  I also found they work great for shucking sweet corn that Pat baked in the oven last week and they helped remove the silks from the hot ears. 

Jeanne, I agree with you on missing Judy and John's postings.

I do love the mid-week bible study.  One dear and strong in faith woman is such an inspiration to all of us - she lost her daughter & grands in a family shooting and is such an inspiration - not that it still does not hurt. 

Yesterday, Don drove to the hearing clinic and after he has used these seemingly poor hearing aides, he was told there was a call from the manufacturer that they had not removed a coating which has really held back their usefulness for many months.  what a relief that the aides are much better and are now helpful.  We have been sad from thinking his hearing had been so poor.  Very very thankful. 

Larry:  resting for you is mending time - never wasted.  Tell Pat that making pot holders and little things is relaxing  too - I don't have to think about the pattern & not wasting fabric.  I bought something over the internet last year - it is a foam covered contoured seat that forces a person to sit really straight.  It did help when I used it. 

We plan to meet with two grands in Fort Collins today - a late lunch.  Rain and possibly snow is in the forecast.

I love this neighborhood - a friend dropped a book off for me - and she wants me to return to the book club.  That is not on my agenda - I am much too far behind in the To Do List and that includes many hours yet on the never-ending quilt.

It is cold here today!  Brrr! Only 40 this morning and now up to 55!  After days in the 80s that's quite a drop!  Some snow is predicted for the weekend!  :o

Judy, please give John my get well wishes, too.  I didn't even know he was having the back problem.  Not fun, but glad his surgery is now in the rear-view mirror!  Don't forget to take care of Judy as you take care of John!

Carol, I think I'm glad I never got into quilting, as it takes such a long time.  I know those who do it really enjoy it, though.  I used to sew so much when my girls were young, but the last garment I made was a dress for Abby when she was a baby--and she is 19 now!  So glad they discovered what the problem was with Don's hearing aids!  And he's had trouble with them all this time!  Better late than never, I guess, but it really shouldn't have happened.

Darrel and I both have appointments with the heart doctor on May 15; he to get a holtor monitor and I to have an echocardiogram.  I'm expecting good reports for both of us!

Larry, next week will be our last Wednesday night supper until next Fall.  It is really a nice program, and I will miss visiting with friends on those nights.
I went in to listen to them rehearse, and the choir director (yes, we have one--volunteer) said, "Come on up and sing with us, Janet!"  So I did.  There were three men and five women there last night.  Not very many!

I want to run to town to meet with the gals at the library for a bit.  Talk to you all later!

Hi everyone.  We have another overcast day like we had all day yesterday but we should see the sun later and get up to 91 degrees.  I did go to coffee yesterday but another friend offered to take my friend back to his assisted living facility so I was able to go directly up the street about three blocks to attend the Wisdom group at the Church.  I then stopped at Aldi's for a few items we needed.  Today I will go to Walmart to pick up Pat's online grocery order in a little while.  As far as I know now that will be it for today.  The yard people are here already this morning trimming, mowing and blowing the grass off of the hard surfaces. 

Carol,  it is bad enough to lose a family member by illness or old age but having your family members murdered is almost too much to comprehend although I know these things happen probably everyday.  Sure hope that the hearing aids now do the job they were designed to do.  To bad the technical glitch probably caused many persons to struggle with hearing when it wasn't necessary.  Hope you didn't run into snow on your trip to Fort Collins yesterday. 

Janet, I thought nothing about folks not mentioning that piece or anything else I may post so please don't be concerned about it.  I will understand things slipping our minds.  :)  Pat has enjoyed many hours related to her interest in quilting whether it is actually doing it or looking at quilting videos and websites. I am so glad she has an interest and one she can pursue while sitting in her easy chair if she doesn't feel up to actually sewing.  Right now she has to limit her sewing to a few minutes at a time.  Hope you both get good results from you heart doctor.  It is a two for one day for you but sure it won't be a two for one bill.  I hope you enjoyed singing with the choir.  I think most Church choirs probably have more women than men.  We are fortunate that several of the men in our Church choir have very fine voices.

Please let's remember to keep our Pat in our prayers.  She is having a lot of severe pain and the prednisone, which seems to be the only thing to lessen it, has been gradually reduced until now it looks like she won't be getting any more. She is getting little sleeping to none at all, and her physical strength has just about deserted her, too.

So many daily battles we all share....we are keeping our God very busy in prayer....but prayer, belief and faith ARE the only way forwards for the likes of us Christians who DO believe...

My other half was recently diagnosed with COPD, he is in the second of four stages..just another string of illnesses to add to our bows, sadly for him, he is a non believer..

Hi everyone.  Another overcast morning but we are headed up to 91 degrees today.  I just plan on staying home today.  Yesterday we decided to try out the new Dairy Queen in our area and went there for a big lunch.  It just opened on Wednesday so everything is still bright and new. Today is my youngest great grandson's 6th birthday.  We have never seen him in person so he has no idea of who we are but we have seen many pictures of him.

Jeanne, I am so saddened to read that Pat isn't getting any better and now is suffering so much.  Thanks for keeping us informed.   

Jackie, that COPD is a very distressing problem.  Stacey had that among many other conditions but refused to use oxygen as she couldn't give up smoking.

Janet:  Did you get any of this snow?  It is might cold here, still snowing and roads are ice.  Not a car has gone by.  They said about 10 inches and that was last night.  Skiers are in their glory!  This will be a good day to enjoy the pristine view and catch up.

Before the springtime in the Rockies storm, son's girlfriend brought a new Golden Retriever puppy, Daisy, for a visit.  We are smitten.  Logically, we know that without a solid fence, coyotes living in the ravine, etc.  oh, the stairs to the basement to let her out - there is No way we could take on training a new puppy.  It was fun to hold her though and she settled in so nicely. 

We drove to Fort Collins to visit two grands in school (and work too) to take them to a 3 PM dinner.  We had just bought a 2nd car -that starts with a button - so the button did not work.  Had to get a jump on the battery and the grands took over and handled everything before we could even try.  We are so spoiled by the grands too.

Larry Hanna...Richard does not smoke now, gave up many years ago but told me he once smoked 50 a day...He was like me, I too gave up smoking 10-15 a day when my father was suffering cancer, strange how it takes a loved one to get cancer that makes one decide this is the time to give up smoking, for Richard it was his brother who had cancer, both brother and my father lost their battle...I guess one could say," something positive came out of a negative..."

I completely forgot to post a link on who we went to see at the theatre last Saturday, they were the very talented WOW youth performers, guess their was around 40 doing a compilation show celebrating 35 years, all singing and dancing..both myself and Richard thoroughly enjoyed the show...As for the theatre, first glance at the building outside and its location, right on the corner opposite the esplanade overlooking the beech and sea, with a carousel alongside of it, not the type of venue I am used to and the state of decay of the building would have been enough to turn me around back home but, once inside the mature in ages usherettes and all decked out looking very smart in black skirt, not trousers, they were very professional and was looking out for disabled guests and quickly came to ones aid, I could not fault them, they were very helpful in showing me the disabled loo midway down the slope, when they were made aware I was looking for the loo and just about to tackle the two to three steps, as I had previously done, maybe they had had extra training in helping disabled theatre goers.....Richard has tickets for a show I fancied to go see tonight, his choice in seating, same as last week was good, we are to be seated to the back, two end of row seats, with me near to the isle leading to the disabled loo, if I need to pay a quick visit..Link to two of WOW compilation shows, not the shows we saw...

I had also a previous sampler of WOW when they were our monthly guests at my local MS evening society, end of last year, so knew they were talented 20s and 30s......Link...

Oh yes, Carol, we certainly did get the snow!  We had 2 1/2 inches of nice steady rain, then around 3 this morning it started snowing,
and we had about six inches.  Very heavy, so it broke a lot of tree limbs in town, and of course we are all worried about the wheat and corn crops.  The wheat had already headed out and the corn was just up good.  Most of the snow has melted now, but we have a vicious North wind blowing and they are saying we could get as much as 8 more inches of the white stuff tonight through tomorrow.  Hard to believe this when it's almost May!

I'm so sorry about Pat.  I have called her a few times and she didn't really even feel like talking, she was so weak.  I wish I knew a better way to contact her,
as she probably doesn't feel up to typing, either.  :'(

We never left the place today, and the only times I went outside (after getting my snow boots back out!) were to take some photos of the snow, then when the mailman finally made it, to get the mail.  I was really glad not to be a mail carrier or a lineman today!  Town lost power, we never did out here, except for internet.

Maybe we will have to miss church in the morning if we get too much more snow.  We haven't missed a Sunday when we've been home for a long time.

... yes it was an enjoyable show last Saturday, which is more than I can say for last nights production of Alan Bennett's " The Lady in the Van, " put on by local amateur dramatics, to make matters worse, one of our resident neighbours was in it and had said to Richard to come along to see it, and one of four parts he was playing, where his first part was using very foul language which was said very loudly, these parts were played by senior age actors not young...there was even one elderly aged actor who came along shaking the back of the van and very loudly in an aggressive manner, I found it rather frightening....then the odd fowl language came from one or two other performers it was not my cup of tea, nor as a comedy did it make me laugh, so at the interval we had our cup of coffee then we left but, I wasnt prepared to go back for another hour to hear much of the same, besides I might have fallen asleep...Richard was part enjoying the show, the language didn't bother him, he could take it or leave it..I just told him I dont expect to pay good money to hear swearing at the theatre, at least if it is on the tv I can change the channel over...
So if anyone here is thinking on going to see this show...no, I DO not recommend it..Link...

Hi everyone on this Sunday morning.  Pat is planning on going to Sunday School and Church with me this morning.  We will then stop somewhere for our main meal of the day.  I will rest this afternoon, listen to Don't radio program as he returns live to the air after his sabbatical, and then watch the conclusion of the golf match.  Yesterday evening we lost our Internet signal for several hours but it is fixed this morning. I did stay home all day yesterday and enjoyed it. 

Carol, I read a report last evening about the heavy snow storm you all had and how the amounts varied in that area.  Glad you got to enjoy the new puppy for a time.  Were you   in Fort Collins when you car didn't start?

Jackie, my father gave up smoking right after he lost his father to cancer.  He had smoked for many years and said it was very hard for him to give it up but he did what he set his mind to do.  Certainly glad Richard does not currently smoke and hope they can keep the COPD under control.  Glad you enjoyed the show on Saturday.  There are many talented people out there.  I see you did not enjoy the show last night. I have always hated foul language.

Janet, at least you didn't get the tornadoes that when through several States last night.  I hope the crops can recover.  Maybe your Church service will be canceled this morning if it would be dangerous to be outside and on the roads.

Almost a foot of snow here.  It was icy this morning so we didn't go out until we went to visit two neighbors (she had fallen and broken hand bones & elbow in an earlier ice storm).  We had tea with them and always limit our time.  She wanted my recipe for crock pot oatmeal.

Janet:  do hope the crops will be good for everyone.   We still need lots of farmland.  Do you have a cellar or basement to go to if a tornado was in the area?  A basement kept me and the children plus the dog safe once for us - all the windows upstairs were broken and a tree hit the house. 

Larry:  Yes, we were in Fort Collins and did have to get a truck jump as the car jumper didn't change.  To be safe, we will install a new battery.  Just getting used to a different car and that is a Prius.  the battery is in the back.  It was showing about 50 miles per gallon when we were driving.  Good for a long road trip! 

Jackie:  It sounds like a good play to leave - sorry for all the raw language.  We always think the writers aren't very literate when they use so many curse words.

...I think it came more as a shock to me that the first one came from the only few words, from the one short line from one of our male neighbours, as I got excited when he finally came strutting on stage, only for the letdown of the loudness and the f word followed by name calling ( such as " tossing " a pancake ) :-X if you can read between the lines, just totally came out of the blue and really shocked me, as he was referring to the old lady tramp of the van...the theatre was rather packed out so have no Idea of others reactions but I guess they all went back at the second half, I am not aware if anyone else had also left for home....well it certainly was not my kind of entertainment, another elderly man actor was very loud and aggressive shaking the back of the van...
Do the writers really think the audience wants to be hearing that..

Of course Richard at some point will see our neighbour perhaps when he passes his home when out with Toby, and he will no doubt be asking if we enjoyed the show, well I told Richard to tell him straight..at least my opinion, if not his...

Hi everyone.  We have an overcast morning with a fairly good possibility of rain sometime today. I plan on attending my meeting at noon as have missed the last two weeks.  On the way I will stop at Costco for two or three items and to return and item Pat bought there that wasn't the right item.  Pat is planning on attending a luncheon for the Church circles at eleven this morning.  Fortunately we have a quart of very good beef vegetable soup in the refrigerator that we will have for our dinner tonight. 

Yesterday we did attend Sunday School and Church and then stopped for lunch at a place we enjoy.  I came home and turned on Don's classical music program while I rested.

*Alert for non-golf fans: just skip the rest of this paragraph if you are not a fan. When I got up I turned on the PGA golf match, which was toward the end of a six hour rain delay, and the match didn't end until almost 9 pm.  At 6 pm CBS cut away from the golf but it continued on the Golf Channel and there we also got to see the long ending to the women's golf tournament that went to 5 or 6 playoff holes between two women and the men's where the team from Aiken, SC, which is the county seat of where I live, are in a playoff today   after one the the Aiken players had chipped in an eagle on the 18th hole to go ahead one stroke but the other team tied and thus the playoff today.   

Carol, nice of you to visit your neighbors.  Ice is so dangerous and many broken bones can be the result.  I see you have been through a tornado and survived in the basement.  We had a root cellar on the farm where we went a few times when it looked bad.  It was before the days of radar that could track the storm and provide warning.  A tornado never hit our farm.  I have a good friend who has had a Prius for several years and really loves it.  I hope you will have no more problem with yours with the new battery. 

Jackie, it seems our common language has become so course.  My niece and her then husband took us to a comedy club in Kansas City many years ago and I didn't enjoy it at all as the comics were so crude.

Larry Hanna...it comes down to standards, morals and scruples, Richard thinks these same words are acceptable as he uses them on me...I just hope and pray our God deals with him in his way and not in mine...I am posting this as my blood is now boiling after another session from him while he is defending the words spoken at the play..yes to say we have different morals and standards as to what is right - wrong, or acceptable do not go jointly go hand in hand...I shall now get off this subject and focus on why we are here..to live the Christian way...

Larry it is sounding you are feeling better in yourself, if you are planning on attending your meeting for the first time in two weeks...It is also good to hear Pat will be attending her church circle meeting too, as I trust her back pain has lessened..

Our God has really opened up our sky's..as I sit hear typing it is absolutely pelting down, rain and hailstones, the noise as it it hitting our door and window and I can hear thunder in the distance, not the weather to get caught out and about in, seems to have died down a tad as I am typing this, but the thunder is still very much going on...and this is the 1st of May, the day maypole dancing will be taking place is some of our small villages, not sure where...At least Toby is not out and about walking in it..
I am going to look for that rainbow...now the sun is coming out...I am sure there will be one outside just waiting for me to take a photo...

Hallelujah!!  Our power is back on, as of about five minutes ago, so I have internet access again.  It went out just after I posted here on Saturday.  Long enough that all the food in the freezer of the side by side refrigerator/freezer thawed.  :(  But we have propane heaters, and even still have our propane kitchen range out in the back, which we kept for doing canning.  No water, but I always keep a couple or three gallons on hand in case the well goes down.  And we dipped water from the hot tub to flush the toilets, so all in all, it certainly could have been worse.  My phone nearly died, so I had to run the car to charge it.  We pried the garage door up several inches so the fumes could get out!  I used some hamburger and some stew meat that had thawed, and most of the fresh vegetables from the refrigerator and made a big pot of stew, so we aren't hungry, either!  ;)

Just after I posted on Saturday, pastor posted on FB that services were cancelled.  All services in several towns here were cancelled!  Good thing, too!  We had a real white-out blizzard!!  On the last day of April!! How crazy is that?  Altogether, we got about 15 inches of snow, on top of the 2 1/2 inches of rain that fell first.  Really good moisture, but would rather have it spread out some!  Pioneer Electric says there are hundreds of power poles down across the area which means many thousands of dollars in expenses.  I felt so sorry for the people who had to be out in that brutal weather working to restore power!  God bless them!  And the highway and police and others who were rescuing people out of ditches, etc.  Happy May Day!   :o

Carol,we no longer have a basement.  But we do have a good relationship with the people who bought our big house and if needed (and if we have a few minutes' notice) we could go up there and get in that basement.

Today is our little Chelsea's 7th birthday.  There is a party planned  but we can't get out--big drifts blocking both garages, and we don't want to kill ourselves shoveling snow!  It's really wet and heavy, but is melting very fast!

I need to call and wish Chelsea a happy birthday and see if the plans for party have changed.  It was supposed to be last night, but I know they didn't have it then.  Their power was out until 10:00 P.M.

Jackie, I wouldn't have enjoyed that language, either.  Must have a very poor vocabulary if they have to resort to filthy language.

Carol, I came back to tell you that our grandson Mark has a Prius and loves it!  Our car is also a hybrid and so far, we like it really well, too.

Well we got two calls today from Keith's Dr. He is to see a Urologise on June 6th. My dr now his Dr too, said that she doesn't believe in the  wait and observe method.

The  Eye Clinic in Portland called to make an appointment for Keith with a Retina specialist for the 24th of this month. That is his birthday so we will be changing that appointment. It will be a 3-4 hr appointment so we will have to go up to Portland the day before, if it turns out to be an early morning appointment we can  probable drive back the same day  if  a later appointment we will have to stay over night again. When they made that appointment this morning I had forgotten it was his birthday.

I will probably be going to California for Savannah's graduation from Junior College sometime this month. The in June we go to Sunriver another 4 hour drive.  in Augutst to corey's wedding  and that is another 4 hr drive.  It looks like I will be doing a lot of driving this summer.

I took it upon myself to change bedside dressers from the basement bedroom to ours.  Uff da - then, I had to take a nap.  It was easier to carry the two heavy parts around the side of the house over rocks than use the stairs.   :crazy:

Otherwise,  we ran a car appt. errand this morning and it took forever.  Did not realize t.v. could be so immature during the daytime in the waiting room.

Don's meds (supposed to be refrigerated) were accidently delivered to Tucson where it is hot and they had been sitting outdoors by the front.  The police check often and called me today- our friend is going to pick up the parcel and trash the medicine.  Very nice for the local police to check - they have a program called "Dark House" where you list the light timers, contacts and so forth - dates of unuse, etc.  What a relief to have someone checking - temps are really hot there now. 

There was a global warming protest on Saturday downtown - in the freezing snowstorm.  We really needed the moisture. 

Janet:  Your power outage lasted longer than ours of years ago - sorry about the loss of food and the upset to your routine.  Glad you are safe.

A beautifully crafted birds nest is sitting the same spot as last year's Robin family.  They are no problem at all if it is the same mama robin.  I made a large batch of French Onion Soup and have frozen 2/3 of the pot. Don is going to make a charging station for all our individual electronics.

Hi everyone.  After an overcast day with rain in the afternoon today is sunny and clear skies.  We expect to be in the low 80's this afternoon.  My only commitment today is to see my cardiologist late this morning. 

My granddaughter called yesterday afternoon to advise us that our son was headed to the hospital in an ambulance.  He had to leave work early the night before due to severe chest pain and was able to control the pain with nitro and sleep that night but yesterday he didn't feel good so got in to see his doctor and the doctor sent him to the ER from his office.  The blood work so far indicates he didn't have a heart attack but they admitted him and will do some testing today.  So we will be anxious to hear today.  My cardiologist is also his cardiologist.  He has had one heart attack and several stents in the past.  If you would say a little prayer for him it would be appreciated by this dad. 

Jackie, I haven't had the angina for the last three or four days but don't really feel much better in terms of exhaustion.  I will be discussing this with my doctor this morning.  I am not yet at the point of being willing to give up the few activities and things I participate in.  Pat's back pain is still there but perhaps not as debilitating as it has been.  She says her whole body hurts and recently the main point of discomfort has been her neck and shoulders as well as her back and the fibromyalgia.  Hope you didn't have any damage from the hail stones and heavy rain yesterday.

Janet, that was a long electrical outage.  Did you lose food in your refrigerator and freezer?  That sounds like some blizzard you experienced. Yesterday in the Costco magazine I saw an emergency lantern that runs on 8 D batteries that has a USB port in it.  It was $20 and I think it would be a good thing to have on hand with a supply of D batteries for an emergency.  Glad to read that you both haven't tried to shovel snow. 

Marilyn, it will be good for Keith to be further checked out by the urologist.  It sounds like you will be keeping your car on the road all summer with the events on your schedule. 

Carol, carrying furniture is a hard job.  I hope you didn't harm yourself.  I seldom watch TV in the daytime until about early evening.  Pat often watches the Hallmark movies during the daytime.  I should say she listens as usually has her computer in her lap doing something or listening to a book and playing a game on the computer at the same time.  I am finding the noise on the TV very annoying especially the ads with the blaring so called music. Great that the police are keeping an eye on your house in Tuscon.  I guess the global warming protesters probably wouldn't want to do the protect in the heat of summer.  :)  For the last 10 days or so the mother bird has been sitting on her next for the third year in a row and each year builds it higher.  I think these are robins.

Larry:  Prayers for Pat and and your son.  I hope that something can help Pat's pain.  Don is going to speak to a doctor this week about his ongoing shoulder pain as the cream is of no use. 

We care concerned over a friend and cannot connect with him either cell phone or email.  He always answers right away and this has been two weeks of our leaving several messages. 

A chicken carcass is in the slow cooker as the beginning of a chicken soup.  It is in the 50's today and all the snow has melted. 

Still reading "A Case for Faith" by Lee Strobel.  One chapter a day is my limit - then, it is nice to ponder what has been written.

It's another beautiful day in our neighborhood!  And the snow is melting so fast!  We finally got out this morning and drove to town.  It looks like the aftermath of a tornado!  Tree limbs down everywhere, roofs caved in by the heavy snow, etc.  They are saying the wheat crop is destroyed, and likely the corn too, although they will probably replant the corn as soon as they can get machinery in the fields without getting stuck.  They were scooping the piled snow in the streets into trucks to haul it away, and because it's so warm and snow melting so fast, Darrel and I wonder why they don't let it just melt.  Well, as usual, they didn't ask us!  :lol:

Larry, I'm praying for Scott.  And for you and for Pat. 

I did get a few chores done yesterday that didn't require electricity or water!  ;)  We are blessed, as some don't yet have their power.  I'm praying all is restored by the end of the day.

Housekeeper is here for the first time in four weeks!  She has been out because of having surgery on varicose veins in her legs.  Good to have her back!

Carol, please don't do such heavy lifting and carrying!  Not good for you!  (I know, I do things like that too, when I decide I want it done and I'm the only one here to do it!}

I printed out a couple pictures which I'm considering painting next month in Glenn's class!

Hi everyone on another clear and pleasant morning here in South Carolina.  We are suppose to get into the mid 80's this afternoon.  The good news is that Scott didn't have a heart attack and they found nothing that could be attributed to the pain and disorientation he was experiencing.  In fact, he told hi mother than the hospital doctor had implied he wasn't having the pain he was having.  He will see his cardiologist as soon as he can get in to see her. 

I did see the cardiologist yesterday.  She took me off of one of the medicines I have taken for years, ordered a bunch of blood tests and a limited Echo to see how symmetrically the walls of the heart are, i.e., are they functioning together or at different times.  She also gave me a prescription for nitro patches to use if needed.  I have to go back a week from Friday to see her to see how I am doing without the stopped medicine and find the results of the Echo. Nothing one the schedule for today unless Scott and Jennifer want to eat dinner at the Church. I did cancel our reservations but know there would be no problem if we showed up as there are always those planned for that don't show up plus there is always plenty of food. 

Carol, Pat has an appointment with a pain doctor on the 16th and according to her GP will likely get shots for the pain as he doesn't think surgery would do the trick for her since her spine is in such back shape.  She has been having me rub Aspercream with Lidocaine on her neck and shoulders and does get some relief in that area.  I hope your friend that you are concerned about it all right. 

Janet, one thing nice about a blizzard this time of year is that the snow is not going to stick around.  Glad you were able to get out and go to town yesterday.  Terrible news for the farmers on the crops.  How big an area in Kansas is affected by that.  Glad your housekeeper is back so that you can be relieved of some of the work around your house.

Larry, according to the TV news, this storm and freeze has affected the whole western third of Kansas.  The farmers here in Kansas produce billions of bushels of wheat each year, so this devastating loss will result in higher prices for those who do have a crop.  Sad for some, better news for others.

So glad that Scott didn't have a heart attack and hope they find the cause of his pain.  Hope you do well without the stopped medicine, and that Pat also gets relief from her terrible back pain.

We learned today that another of Darrel's high school classmates has died.  She was living in the apartments where John lives and wanted to go to the care home "because then I won't have to do anything."  :(  She would likely have lived longer if she had kept moving!  Oh, how Beth would love to move!  Yesterday it made me so sad when Beth was trying so hard to ask me something, and it took quite a while to get that she was saying, "Is it cold?"   :'(

I just got home from eating lunch with the Red Hat ladies at Puffy's Pizza.  And it's raining!!  If only we could save it until we need it!  The road is much worse than yesterday because it rained during the night, too.  I haven't waded out to check the rain gauge yet!  ;)

Pat Halbach, if you stop in and read this, please know how much you are loved and missed.  I told Darrel this morning I wish I could go see you, and he said,
"Why not?"  I told him I don't like to leave him, and he said he could go along and read a book.  But that might be more than you feel up to, having company, even though my aim would be to help you.  So if you do see this, and can, please drop me a line and let me know how this sounds to you.  <3

It did snow twice today but all changed to rain and now the sun is shining. 

Larry:  Praying for Pat's pain shot to relieve her for a long time.  It seems as though many have to have several shots to counter the pain.  Hopefully, one will be successful.    Scott's episode must have been so frightening for you two.  good that he is having a 2nd. opinion. 

After two weeks of sending notes and calling, we found a friend (who is widowed)) has been in hospital.  His daughter called and told us that David had a rupture of his colon and had immediate 3 hours surgery.  After a week and a half he was just being sent to rehab yesterday.  Long recovery.  Thankfully, he had not taken off driving from Arizona to Utah as he was planning the day after his attack and would have been in isolated territory.   

Yes, Janet:  I will listen to you.  So sorry for the farmers loss and of course for the expected rise in the cost of wheat products.  It is early in the year too -Stay Safe

Don made a charging station for my three electronic devices by using an old office file folder.  It looks so nice and much neater.  My old iPad is  really slow even with a new battery.  Poor thing - they must make them pass on just so we would buy another - it is much heavier to use so I would not get another again.

Hi everyone.  According tot he forecast we will be getting some rain, possibility some heavy thunderstorms, later today.  Pat has a doctor's appointment at 10:30 with her GP as she needs a paper prescription for her pain medication.  She had refills on her previous prescription but didn't realize the prescription was good for only 3 months since it contains a narcotic type drug.  We plan on eating at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant on our way home and then won't need to worry about a main meal this evening. 

Yesterday was a quiet day.  Scott and Jennifer did join me at the Church for our Wednesday night dinner.  It was very well attended as it was Taco Night and also because following the meal they were having a Lip Sync contest.  We did not stay for that event.  Scott and Jennifer then came out to the house.  Scott was feeling better yesterday and plans on going back to work this evening. 

Janet, it sounds like a lot of food prices will go up with the loss of so much of the wheat crop.  I remember we had to replant corn crops a few years when the initial planting was ruined in some fashion.  Scott had several tests including a new test that is able to make a 360 degree picture of the heart.  It sounds like it should eliminate the need for so many heart caths.  They also did a test to look at his brain as he was experiencing some disorientation.  All the tests came back negative, thankfully.  He was very displeased with the doctor who works for the hospital who told him he wasn't experiencing the pain he was still having when they sent him home.  I am sure Beth is tired of where she is but she certainly couldn't care for herself and needs the help from the home. 

Marilyn, does Keith risk losing his sight by not attending to the needs of his eyes soon?

Carol, I am confident that one series of shots will not solve Pat's problem but am hopeful that this process will bring her relief from that pain.  Glad you heard from your friend's daughter.  That sounds like a very serious condition he has and it was good he wasn't out on the road when it happened.  I agree the older iPads are a bit heavy.  I still use my iPad 4 and have no intention on replacing it, at least not anytime soon.  It works perfectly and has a great video display.  I agree with you that in most things anymore we have built-in- obsolescence.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.... sunny with heavy snow on the mountains.  No wonder so many people are moving here - drugs and views. 

We spent a few hours at the VA building.  They are years late in building the new VA hospital that is very far east of the city.  Unfortunately, whoever was in charge of that planning made a blunder and now we found that there will not be enough room for the primary care doctors.  This means a primary care doc won't have an easy time getting to see their patient while someone is hospitalized.  We could not believe that there could be such an oversight. 

After Don's tests were over, we stopped at a Perkins for lunch - so fortunate that our meals - my  toasted half sandwich with tomato and avocado was served just as they announced all the hot meals were stopped for a repair in the kitchen.  They gave me two cookies with my sandwich too.  Nice.  Sorry for all the others who were planning one of the breakfasts.  It had to take a toll on the waitresses income for the day too. 

Larry:  For years, we went to Wednesday night services with meals as all four children were in confirmation classes for several years each.  I used to make pots of soup and also was the one to climb the ladder and clean the kitchen vents.  Now I couldn't get on that ladder.    ----That sounds like a really great test Scott had for his heart.  Glad to read that Scott is feeling well enough to go to work.

Hi everyone.  It is another overcast morning and will stay only in the high 60's today.  I got up a little bit early this morning and made a quick trip to the lab at the hospital to get the blood tests done that my cardiologist had ordered before I see her again next Friday.  This area is wonderful as there wasn't any traffic around 7 am.  Today is the day for the housekeeper and there are no other plans for the day.

Yesterday Pat did get in to see her doctor and then we stopped at Cracker Barrel for a hearty lunch.  Then we had to go to Walmart where Pat got a couple of prescriptions for herself and picked up one for me.  I waited for her in the car as didn't feel up to going into Walmart. We were away from the house about 5 hours.  I came home and took a nap but didn't feel rested so went to bed around 8 pm. 

Carol, I have heard numerous reports about what a disaster that new VA hospital is in terms of cost overruns and other inadequacies.  It is sad that many of the primary care doctors won't be able to be housed in the new hospital. It has been years since we ate at a Perkins but always had good meals there.  It sounds like you got your orders just under the wire. We have some paid workers at our Wednesday night dinner but also a lot of volunteers.  There is a lot of work involved in preparing, serving and cleaning up after each meal.  Our meals are well attended and there is a $20 upper limit for a family on what the meals cost.  The meals are $6 each, which is very reasonable.  We will have an entree, vegetable, rolls or biscuits, salad and dessert.

I think I have missed a day or two in here.  I know for sure I missed yesterday, as I had four meetings to attend, all in one day.
   :-\  Sure glad that doesn't happen every day.  I was exhausted.  The first meeting was Beth's care plan, which is always mentally and emotionally taxing,
and the last was a meeting with the county commissioners and the public regarding the proposed sale of our county owned care home where Beth lives.  I had questions, and they were all answered.  But I find it so sad that things have come to the point of having to sell first our hospital and now our care home and assisted living facility.  :'(  But the company buying the two care facilities is a family owned company and the commissioner I talked to today assured me they are Christians with very high spiritual goals.  They own one in Garden City that people are really pleased with, so am just praying this works out well for our county.  The sale will be final the last part of June.

Our huge snow is all gone now except a few small areas in the shade.  But there are tree branches piled along every street in town.  And thousands of cattle perished!  Over four thousand in just the feedlots in the county, besides all the privately owned ones.  The survivors walked over fences and got out, wandering for miles, even into towns and open buildings, disoriented, stressed, thirsty and hungry.  So not only will the prices of wheat go up, but the already high prices of beef will skyrocket!!  They were (are) hauling the dead cattle to facilities that process them into dog food and such, but can they handle thousands of them?  I don't know.  Such tragic losses for the farmers and the cattlemen.  :'(  The cattle either drowned from breathing the very wet snow, or their nostrils were blocked with the wet snow, suffocating them.  So very sad.  When I was 16, we had a huge 3-day blizzard in which my Dad lost 58 head of cattle that way.  It was so terrible.  :'(

Our trees are really busted up, and we aren't able to get up in them to trim out the broken limbs.  Maybe we can find some help after the people in town get theirs taken care of, I hope so anyway.  Not worth getting hurt trying to do that kind of work.   :(

Did anyone else get a short quiz thing, offering a "free" gift?  Then the price of shipping far exceeds the value of the so called free gift!   :ticked:  It aggravates me that they annoy us with that kind of junk, and I'm shocked to see it here on our site, for sure.  "Free gift" is an oxymoron.  If it isn't free,
it isn't a gift!  Okay, done ranting now.   ;)

Our little ones have a dance recital tomorrow night so we need to go to Liberal for that.  Little ones are always so darn cute in those recitals!

No, the news of anything in the heartland is so often ignored. 

We drove a friend to her hand therapy today - there are many in the neighborhood helping in this little way.  She broke bones in one hand and one shoulder falling on ice weeks ago.  Another surgery is expected - this is a long and painful time for her and she is caregiver to her husband. 

Larry:  $6 is quite a deal for a full dinner anymore.  It sounds like you and Pat have found such a great retirement place and so nice that Scott is close as well.

Hi everyone.  It is a nice sunny but cool morning.  We turned on our heat to remove the chill from the house.  It is 52? now but headed up to 70? this afternoon.  We stayed home all day yesterday and other than getting our house nice and clean since our cleaning lady was here, there is really nothing to write about.  It looks like today will be another of the same, which is fine with me.  The only thing I need to do this morning is grate up another pound of cheddar cheese.  I did just get the results of most of the lab work done yesterday and they all are fine. 

Janet, you sure did have a busy day on Thursday.  I hope the sale of the facility where Beth is living proves to be a very beneficial one.  Change is always difficult.  It is really sad to lose so many cattle and it wasn't even the middle of winter.  I hope you had a good time at the dance recital of your great grandchildren.  Those are special events.  I did not get anything offering me a free gift (I feel left out--NOT). 

Carol, so nice of you and the other neighbors to help the lady with the broken bones.  It makes a person feel good to be of assistance to another as long as it doesn't become expected.  We truly love living here and it is a great area in which to be retired.  When I went over to the hospital yesterday morning a little before 7 am there was only a few cars on the road, including the downtown Augusta area.

Larry:  She is a dear friend to both of us and just doesn't ask us enough.  The increase of the number of cars on the road here is stressing everyone.  It is so nice that you can have decent drives for your errands. 

I bought all the fixings for cooking hot fudge sauce and some plastic containers.  We were not here at Christmas and I will see most of the children on Sunday so I know they will like the surprise.  Missing the holidays at home last year was really lonesome for us even though neighbors were kind and gentle in having us over.

Sorry I have been AWOL for a couple of days, i did come to catch up and red what all y'all have been doing but didn't have anything to say.
We did our Walmart run after I took freckles on a visit to the care home close by, There are two that are across the street from each other. Yesterday I made two loaves of bread that didn't turn out right, The last one I put back in the oven before I went to ,music practice and forgot about taking it back out before I left. When  I got home an hour and a half later it was burned to a crisp.

Marilyn...I too am guilty of doing that....going AWOL for a few days. like you, I have little of interest to say...but this morning I did go to church, very few attended as it wasn't a Holy Communion service, well not at this church, but being held at one or two of their other three village churches that are in their " circuit..."....well I have finally done it, put my name down for a reading, not sure for when but I told her maybe best for my first time on a day like today, when only a few there...I am confident with my reading, I was always one of my school class top readers just I told her my confidence will be in actually walking to it on the day, she said not to worry they have ways and means of bringing it closer if need be...

Hi everyone.  We have a clear sky and pleasant temperatures this Sunday morning.  Pat and I are going to go to Sunday School and Church this morning.  This is our Children's Sunday in Church where they participate in a large part of the service. Following Church we will go somewhere to eat or pick up something to bring home for our main meal of the day.  I plan on watching the end of the PGA Golf Tourney later this afternoon. 

Carol, I bet your hot fudge sauce is delicious and that your family will really appreciate its special homemade taste. 

Marilyn, it sounds like you made a loaf of toast rather than bread.  :)  Too bad the bread didn't turn out as you wanted. 

Jackie, glad to see you are taking a more active part in your Church service.  It seems to me I always get more out of something when I contribute something to it. Will you be reading from the Bible or Liturgy?  You are right about not missing something we don't know about.  :)
