Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

I have written an update in P&P.  This has been a rough day.  Heading to bed.  Night all.

Have spent some time today in specific prayer for Bonesy and a devotional I like to use in my personal time with the Lord came to mind. I put it together a few years ago and decided to alter it a little and share it as a reminder regarding some incredible principals. The original author is Oswald Chambers as I've so enjoyed his "My Utmost for His Highest" over these past years. Here's the link:

(Click on the above graphic to see it larger)

May this be a reminder for us as we pray for these and others!

Guess who is still awake at 3:30am?  Guess who had too much caffeine in her Diet Coke at Chili's last evening?  Moi!!!!

So I will post now and probably not again until Friday since I have lots of little things that need to be done before Bible Study here tonight!

Hi everyone.  I am sitting here eating my lunch and trying to get caught up on the message boards.  Just went to coffee and then walked at the gym.  Pat has gone to the quilt shop to pick up something a designer left there for her and must have gone on to somewhere else as has been gone for quite awhile.

Etta Sue, the caffeine doesn't seem to bother me or keep me from sleeping.  I very seldom can't sleep at night.

Paul, thanks for sharing the prayer that you use.

Judy, I will go and check your update after I finish this posting.

Carol, do you use the special quilting tool on your Bernina?  I asked Pat this week if she had used hers and she said she was planning to but hadn't yet.  She didn't get the embroidery unit for the machine.

Marilyn

Good Morning,  I am just stopping in  to say a few prayers for those who need prayer. Not much going on here at this time. I am going to Yoga class shortly, showered, washed and dried my hair, fed all the animals, had breakfast, sent Keith off to work. That's it for now.

Sarah, I am so sorry you are having to walk this path.  ((((Hugs)))).

We made a quick trip to Hugoton to pick up our appliance dolly they had borrowed, wash Beth's van and we had a nice lunch with daughter and son in law.

We worked hard most of the morning, got Beth's garage cleaned, lots of stuff thrown away, lots more ready for the auction.  I think another day or two will get the trailer ready, too.

Gotta run, see you again another day!

Bible Study was disappointing...there were only 4 here including myself.  So we didn't have Bible Study.  We just discussed projects to have for the church's 150th Anniversary next year and projects to earn money for our Womens Retreat in March.  The dessert went over well.

Today is totally relaxing but I do have to mow the lawn since we had three days of rain.  And this evening, I am going to play cards at a neighbors home.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

This has been a busy day.  I spent about two hours this morning working with a friend.  Then this afternoon the wife of the choir member I sit next to was here for about an hour.

We are working on creating a database for our choir music.  This will involve converting an existing Word file that has about 600 different pieces of music into an Excel sheet and then into a database.  We were going to create labels for the music boxes but both agreed a better system would be assigning numbers to the storage boxes and then keying it into the database as it will avoid a lot of reshuffling of music from time to time and trying to keep everything alphabetical in the storage area.  We will be presenting our ideas to the director Sunday before doing anymore work on the project.

Sarah, sorry to hear you are having such a difficult time and hope things are looking up soon.

Etta Sue, glad you had had a relaxing day today.

Judy, hope John is doing better and the doctors can find the cause of his problem.

Janet, your cleaning out job sounds like a lot of hot work.  Glad it is going well.

Hi Marilyn.

Our daughter saw one of her doctors yesterday and he ordered her to stay off her foot for at least 4 days.  He told her she could easily lose her foot if things don't inprove.

JudyB

Etta Sue....Where two or three are gathered together... I have been part of some of the most rewarding prayer meetings where there have only been a couple of devoted pray-ers.

Had a busy day picking up bird food, dog food, and crates of tomatoes, and corn.  Another busy day tomorrow doing down the tomatoes.  I have to check the garden to see what is ready, and get that done down..

I will post in P&P now.

Nita

I'm here just in time to say goodnight. :)

Sarah, things are hard for you now.  I believe that some day you'll look back on this time and see God's hand weaving the threads of your life together to create your life and who He wants you to be in it.  Sometimes in the middle of it all, it's hard to see God's intervention, for me anyway, and later see clearly.  Bless you, sweetheart.

Larry, she'll stay off her foot..right?

Judy, I agree about small prayer groups.  I've had the same....the most powerful intercession when only two or three attended and because they were there to pray, God was in the midst and His Presence so awesome and precious.

Time to get the dogs bedded down, and my computer is in "their" bedroom, so I'll shut down. God bless all.

JudyB

Paul I sent you an email thanking you for praying and puting that prayer devotional together.  I gave John a copy today and he says thank you as well.

1:30 AM and I am unable to sleep.  Keep going over what the doctors are doing and wondering what has been missed.  Hate going to bed stewing like this.

Larry I ask the same as Nita...She WILL stay off that foot?  I certainly ope so.

Going to check out the pictures. I know there are several I haven't commented on.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I have some time before going to coffee this morning so will go ahead and post for today.  Don't have much to say since I posted later yesterday.

Judy, I have never heard the expression "done down" before.  Sorry that you are having trouble sleeping because I know you need your rest.  You are carrying heavy burdens right now since John is laid up.  I have found in time of stress if I consciously pray and give my problems to God that I am released of them and then can sleep.

Nita, I do believe our daughter will do her best to stay off her foot.  It is pretty frightening to be told by your doctor that you can easily lose your foot.  That is a pretty good incentive to take care.  She says it feels like a knife is stuck into her foot but she has no feeling in the bottom or her foot.  The doctor stuck something sharp into the bottom of her foot and she couldn't feel it.  It is interesting you can have that situation and still suffer severe pain in the foot.  This is beyond my understanding at the moment.

Not much on the schedule today other than our normal Saturday morning meeting and perhaps going out to lunch with some folks.  Then plan on having a quiet day.

I have had to go off the plavix and the aspirin from now until after next Thursday, when I will have the bi-lateral hernia repair done.  I will be glad to get that over with.  I think Pat will probably have foot surgery sometime this fall so we probably won't be going anywhere for awhile.

Hope this is a good day for each of you visiting here and all of our CP friends.

Janet

GMTA Larry!  I was planning on commenting to Judy that I had never heard that expression 'done down' about putting 'up' garden produce before.  Must be a regional thing.

Judy, I hope you will be able to get sleep, it is so important.  All those weeks in the hospital with Beth, I couldn't sleep without pills, and hate taking them.  Then I had to wean myself off--did it suddenly, too--and am still having a lot of trouble sleeping.  I do pray, and still my mind keeps going and going...... :-\

Larry, I do hope Stacey takes care of that foot.  And you know that I know about worrying about a daughter and her health problems.  (As does Liz.)  About the pain, yet no feeling...people are always surprised that Beth has hyper feeling all over her body, yet cannot move hardly any part.  That is part of the curse of Neurofibromatosis.

In the morning, we go to Garden City to pick up John!  Beth is so excited she can hardly wait.  I had an email from her friend Becki, and she said she wasn't ready to leave yesterday, so will leave on Monday instead, then extend her visit two days.  Darrel is trying to get the water problem fixed at Beth's trailer so she can stay there; if he doesn't get it done, she can stay in our 5th wheel, it's nicer, anyway.  John will probably stay here in the house with us.

I got all the invitations out for Beth's party.  She has received sevedral birthday cards in the mail, and I am keeping them for Friday.

Ruth Ann, I'm thinking of and praying for you.  How are you doing now?

I will 'see' all you nice folks next time!

G'Mornin ... I'm here early (for me) today.  I am thinking about getting my hair cut today.  I've suddenly become very frustrated with the length (and straightness) and decided this last night. I may not get it too short this time and then work myself into getting a perm eventually ... then it will be shorter.  I'm sure y'all are really interested in this.   :-[

I am praying for all the ones who are suffering ... and their families who are worried about them.  God is a GOOD God and will sustain us in His love through it all.

Gotta get going ... I hear the teakettle whistling and I need my morning cuppa tea.... :cup:

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

JudyB

Larry that must have been a typo.    Janet when the mind starts going how do you shut it off?  I haven't found the answer to that, and why at night when you are tired, and sleepy.  Your asleep in a chair and lie down, then the eyes pop open.  I don't get that.  I would up using meds to get to sleep last night and that has left me feeling like a druggie today.  Grrrrr.    John has another doctor looking after him this week.  Too bad he couldn't have kept the Doctor of last week.  He was good.  Also seems a commitment has been made that this is cellulitis.  Now to get the scan results and get him home.

Had the dog outside go  crazy at 6:30 this morning, then Dana and Cimi started to go crazy barking..  I got up to look and 2 of the neighborhood dogs were in our yard.  The girls got up and chased them away.  The joys of country living...Usually it is deer or moose they bark at!  Thought deer were at my garden!

On the way to the hospital yesterday I saw a small hawk.  About 1/2 the size of a red tail.  I was thinking it was the young one that was born in our attic.  It was really pretty with the flecked breast.

I have been watching a family of skunks cross the highway.  There were about 10 babies led by an adult and followed by an adult.  I don't particularly like skunks but they were cute to watch.

I don't know if those of you in the USA heard about our tornadoes.  They touched down in many areas of Ontario....Including up here.  Callendar Had a touch down doing major damage.  There were areas where a state of emergency has been declared.  I have seen pictures of the tornado over Lake Nipissing. It is almost unheard of to have tornadoes this far north.

It is a cloudy overcast day.  I have a lot to do.  I will be back later.

Marilyn

Geez I don't know where to begin this morning, Judy I did see on TV about the tornados in Ontario. Sorry to hear that you could not sleep. I also have not  heard the term of "putting down" when you are canning  or freezing produce. Where I come from it is called "putting up".

Janet what does GMTA stand for. Does Beth know your are planning this BD party for her. Or is it a surprise?

Jane When will you have your new do? I can't wait to see it.

Janet and Judy have you ever tried Melantonin  to help you sleep. Or do you take prescription sleep meds.

Hi Nita what wonderful advice you have given to Sarah.

Sarah sorry to hear about the problems with your job. Sure is bad timing for such a thing to happen to you. I hope you can find a job closer to home.

Larry the pain in your daughter's feet is from nerve pain it is very typical with diabetes to have neuropathy, numbness yet pain from the nerve damage. The pain is very severe and goes from  a burning feeling to  electrical charges. i hope and pray she will stay off her foot.

Ruth Ann where are you? How are you doing?

I am back home again and had a lovely time.  The weather was perfect for all three days..

Carol, I went to Parksville.....Craig Bay.  http://www.lifestyles.craigbay.com/

My friends have a beautiful home in this lovely ocean view development.  We went to SaltSpring first for most of Wed. and that was fun, including the ferry ride.

Janet, 8 of the exibits at the SandCastle Competition were vandalized the day before ....even with on site security.  What a world!

Went to Milner Gardens.  www.milnergardens.org

Was taken out for a great authentic English Pub fish and chips dinner.  Family owned and run place and wonderful food, including English Trifle.

The train ride home was fun and the guys great.  They put my suitcase on and off and a helper even put it in Wendy's car for us.  I love trains.

Sarah, I am so sorry things have gone this way for you.  Raised two kids without any support and know life can be hard.  God loves you and will love your wee baby also.  Take good care of yourself and come here for prayer.  WE really do understand and care about you.   :)

Judy B. I am praying for John and also for your daughter, Larry.

Must go.  Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz

After reading all the posts I should quote Marilyn since she said all the things I wanted to say and reply to the posts but I won't quote...I'll just say 'ditto' to what Marilyn posted!  And Marilyn...GMTA is Great Minds Think Alike.

Yesterday was a relaxing day.  I was called to play cards last evening so Ivalou, Barb and I played cards with Janet and Sam and their daughter, Brenda.  We played one game of Hand and Foot, then ate some Pineapple Angel Food Cake with Cool Whip and then played Train Dominoes!  That was new to me and it was fun!  Strategy that everyone seemed to mess up for me!

We didn't get home until 11:30pm so I slept late today.  A cloudy and overcast day with nothing to do.  I do plan to get the Epson Printer going with the laptop though...after lunch which is getting mighty close.

Janet:  It seems like you are always cleaning - so glad that you can write about Beth coming back for a visit with John as well.  Super news.

Larry:  I have used that special tool for small things quilted and always have to practice with it before using on the good fabric.  Good luck on your future surgery.

Etta Sue:  Beautiful butterflies.

Judy:  Take care of yourself during this stressful time.

Liz:  Parksville sounds familiar and I am sure I was right there.  We would like to go back when it isn't so hot (and can open windows on the place we stay).  Thanks for the sites.

Here, we are taking son's dog home soon and we are meeting at daughter's house with a party of about 50 people including family - sending off grandson to a school in Minnesota.  Don's hearing has not returned after the cannon blast incident of three weeks ago so I don't know how long we will stay.  He was a little hard of hearing before but this has just changed our lives.  I am praying that he will at least be able to listen to music without the distortion in his hearing now.  Tomorrow, he is coming to church and we shall see how this goes - this is not simply a loss of hearing it is a distortion of noise and he feels dizzy so has to leave.

I think where that came from is you are putting the produce down into jars..... Just a term I have used for years.  No idea where it came from.

Ruth

Judy:  Is the expression "putting down" a term from England and or surrounding areas?     We have British friends and they use terms that have not been used in Canada it is just getting familiar with the terms.

Judy: Also how is John's mom is she still in the hospital?

Janet & others:  About not being able to get a good nights rest I have a glass of milk or even less as I head off to bed and it is working wonders for me, but if you are not able to drink milk then I do not have an answer.

About the Tornado it was about 10 miles south of us many homes were damaged but only (l death in Durham (north of us) the other area hit as well), in Woodbridge a man suffered a heart attack.  Lots of miracle stories.   About 200 people will be without homes until they are able to rebuild, many others are damaged, in the town of Woodbridge and Maple which is south and a little west of us. We had high winds and approx. 3 inches of rain but no damage.

Janet:  Will be very happy to see John again.

Ditto to what Marilyn had posted.

I am remembering Stacy, Beth, Sarah, John, John's mom and the many others in prayer.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Mother is out of hospital, totally bedridden and unable to figure out how to use/hold a phone so everyone is told she is sleeping.

I got a bunch of zucchini canned, and a bushel of tomatoes.  Beans are cooked, I had a pile of beans today. and the peas are about done.  As we were boiling the jars in the canner Elizabeth put in more hot water and it hit one of the jars and the jar exploded.  She is fine, she was startled more than anything.  No burns though.  Thank you Lord!

It is late and I am having another sleepless night.  Church tomorrow. so I will try to read myself to sleep.  I am into a good book so that may keep me awake too!!!  LOL

Etta Sue

I am all ready for church.  Then, as usual, we will eat out after Sunday School.  Then at 2pm I will be going back to a wedding receptions.  These kids got married the 8th but didn't invite the whole church since they both come from large families and have multitudes amount of friends.  So they are back from their honeymoon and the church family will help them celebrate today.  Rachel and Austin will be living in Lafayette...Purdue land.  He is in the Navy and she is still in college to become a pharmacist.  Rachel was our church pianist.  We have lots and lots of singers in the congregation but only two pianists!  Anyone want to come to Indiana and be our pianist??

I did get the Epson printer that Kitty gave to me to working.  The new driver did work.  It wouldn't print black but there is a self-cleaning button and after 4 pushes, I printed with black ink.  I think it will be handy to use the USB port and print right from the laptop. Hope it prints good enough to print my large photos.  It will print up to 13" wide!

It doesn't look like I will get a nap in today.  May be an early night tonight.

Hi everyone.  Another beautiful Sunday morning and I am ready for church but it will be about 90 minutes before we leave.

After church today the lady I am working with on the church music library project and I will meet with the director to talk over our ideas.  We have decided that using a database and numbering the boxes and using listings with the box number keyed to the musical piece is the way to go.  That way you don't need to constantly scuffle music and more than one piece can be stored in the same box to maximize space.  We have about 600 individual pieces of music that have been acquired over the years.  From the database we can prepare reports on any of the data that is stored in it.

I appreciate your prayers for our daughter.  We just take things one day at a time and don't try to anticipate tomorrow.

Janet

Yep, GTA stands for great minds think alike!

Yes, Beth knows we are planning a party for her.  She made up the guest list--keeps adding more and more people to it--and has requested ice cream cake.  We are doing a safari theme, because she loves animals so much.

Everything clicked beautifully today.  When we got to the care home, Jennifer had Beth ready to go, when we got to Garden, John's train arrived about two minutes after we did; when we got to I Hop, they weren't very busy. Back to Ulysses, where we left them (Beth and John) back at the home, I brought Darrel home, as he was too sleepy to go to church.  I attended Sunday School at our church, then went and picked up B and J again and we attended church at the Mennonite Brethren church.  Then to Subway for sandwiches, and  home, unloaded John's suitcases, and turned the van over to John.  Whew!  But the timing couldn't have been better!  :)

This has been an emotionally draining day.  But I am home safe with the girls and know that God is Good ......All the time.  It is people that make life difficult.

We have had a nice day weather wise.  Had Cimi with me, and went to John straight from church.  Our pastor will be away next week.  Picked up a coffee for John and had a brief visit.  We met with some dear, dear friends who have been on a trip through the Northwest Territories, Yukon and Alaska.  The stories they had to tell are amazing.  They told of a stream so full of spawning salmon that they could walk across and not get their feet wet.  I am looking forward to seeing the pictures.  Some other friends who they traveled with go to church with us.  They had more different stories to tell.

Well that is all for now folks
