We are watching the Avalanche hockey game because our daughter & family are there - too long of a story but our grandson sold wreaths & made $600 for a hockey player's fund for children with cancer & that was matched with another $500 & the check now is about $1,500.  Anyway, they have a free night with the sister of the pro hockey player.  This was all our grandson's idea so it is nice to see them thinking of others.

Ruth Ann:  What a great time you have to look forward to with everyone - enjoy!

Pat:  Sorry that you have to deal with the dreadful posters.  Such a time for Norm & Judy & it is really loading the "To Do" list for you as well - take care.

Sue:  Happy Birthday to you.......

Janet:  At least the land is still available - it must be double faithful.

I went to church & no one told me but they were having a bible study today instead of quilting - I checked the calendar again & this is quilting day.  Never mind.  So, I didn't want to interupt & just went to Kohl's to look for one last gift.

Jeannine

Good Morning Everyone,

Sue  -    :hbirthday:

Kevin - beautiful picture, you sure have some wonderful scenery over there. I had a chance to be stationed in Japan but was stupid and got married, we are divorced now. What a dope I was.

Janet - That poem, The U In Jesus made me think of a verse Michael's nurse and I were talking about; "When I look at Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars which You have established; what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man, that You visit him?" Psa 8: 3-4 Now we know why don't we.

Ruth Ann- I pray you have a wonderful time with your family.

Pat - Good catch!

I gave up on dad's computer and will give him Frankenstein instead, that works and will do what ever he needs it to do. Just have to put Narrator in the start up so it comes on for him. Yesterday was not my day to be playing with computers like that. :-[

OK, time to go, see y'all later!
I pray everyone else has a wonderful, God-filled day!

Trusting,

Happy Birthday to all of you December birthday people...you know who you are!!

I am up and about early...early for me.  But perhaps I am posting before those west coasters!..... ;)

Red Hats was fun.  After dining out for lunch we went to the Queen's home and played a game to divvy out the gifts we brought.  I ended up with a Red Hat ornament, a Red Hat pin, a Red Hat snowmanlady, a couple of kitchen towels, and a candy cane.  Lots of fun!

And today it is bright and sunny in central Indiana.  43°F and suppose to rise to 56°F.  Shirt time weather outside but also people will come down with the flu or a bad cold.  My SIL from Florida was without a jacket yesterday...today she will have the sniffles!  And go to the doctor this afternoon.  Sorry, but I am probably NOT exaggerating.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I was so busy yesterday preparing and finally getting my annual Christmas letter and Christmas cards ready and mailed that I didn't have time to stop by and so am very behind in posting.  We also had a 2 hour choir practice last evening and the Cantata is really coming together.

Pat, I will be keeping Judy and Norm in my thoughts and prayers today and praying that God will be directing the hands of the doctor.  That poor lady has had to go through so much and it continues.

Liz, believe me you are not alone with the heartache related to a child or children.  Glad your eye procedure is helping.

Jeannine, do you mean you decided not to be the webmaster for your church?  Computers can be very frustrating.

Carol, your grandson sounds like a very fine young man who thinks of others and gets things done.

Ruth Ann, what an exciting Christmas for your family.

Janet, it sounds like it was met for your church to build on that land.

Etta Sue, are you and Ivalou going to make a trip to Florida again this coming year?  Pat and I are going to be going down in mid-January for her cousins reunion.

Nita, sounds like a lot of fun to puppy hunt.

I was so far behind in my reading of the messages that it isn't feasible for me to comment to everyone.  However, you are all in my thoughts and I appreciate each and every posting.  Hope everyone has a good day.  I am busy again today and have Calvin Cove this afternoon.

Hi Larry,

No, I am still webmaster. Just the hardware part. It kept giving me different reasons for the "blue screen of death" and I just don't know anymore. :clobber:

I'm still doing the web, that's more up my alley anyways.

Have a great day in the Lord everyone!

It looks like I will be bringing Ruth home from the  Convalescent hospital either tomorrow or Friday, I went to see her yesterday and spoke with the Social Worker (who is the one to say when she can go home), I needed to let her know that I would be there whenever Ruth needed me. I have arranged with her former DIL to come stay with her for the first week to see how she does after I leave for the day.

Well I am off to Jan's to get her place ready for  company, the young man who  comes on Saturday's, well his parents are coming up for a visit and  Jan is going to  house them at her place.

C y-all later.

Good morning! (barely)

Carol, sometimes the messages about things at church just don't seem to make it through the pipeline, do they?  Maybe the mixup gave you a little needed time for other things.  Your grandson is certainly to be commended, bless him!

Nothing newsworthy here, so see you later!

Liz

Well, we are still on dry land, but have a new respect for that old Johnny Cash song about the water being '6 Ft. High and Rising'.  Storm after storm has been hiting the island and many thousands without heat and power.  God has truly blessed our street and only very brief periods without electricity.  So brief we hardly noticed.....More coming today and it is really quite dangerous.

Wendy and I went to Duncan yest. for her physio treatment (only what could be done without power) and most of the stores were closed.  We went to the Farmers Market, all dark, only cash please.  One clerk told about nearly being hit on the way to work by a falling tree.  Another person told about her husband being trapped in their truck with a small child, power lines having toppled around the truck at an intersection......and so on....Terrible thing for merchants to be closed during this season, small business will really suffer.

True story just for you Janet.  This was in the Victoria area.  A man was disgusted with the commercialization of the holiday and decided to make a provocative statement .....  he hung Santa Claus in effigy on a cross in his front yard.  (he is an artist)  Lots of people protested (as expected, right?) and Santa was stolen in the dead of night.  The RCMP found poor old Santa tied up on Ocean Boulevard and phoned the artist, who no longer wanted Santa back.  So they took Santa to jail.  They stated that Santa had been through a lot, but was confortable sitting in the office.  Have promised to release him for Christmas Eve.

                                  ;)

I have continued to re-read the poetry of Robert Service and am amazed at how much of his work seems to be searching for God.  Do not know if he ever became, or ever was, a Christian.  Not much has been said about that.  Tho' one of his most famous poems, "The Shooting of Dan McGrew" was inspired while he was doing a poem for a Church Meeting.  One of his poems 'The Wonderer' is very moving.  It is about his wonder at the marvel of his hand, heart, brain, etc.  His wonder at a blade of grass, a grain of sand.  It ends like this:

If wonder is in great and small,
Then what of Him who made it all?
In eyes and brain and heart and limb
Let's see the wondrous work of Him.
In house and hill and sward and sea,
In bird and beast and flower and tree,
In everything from sun to sod,
The wonder and the awe of God.

This from someone who was once (tho' famous and rich) called the 'worlds worst best poet.  How little we really know or understand about other folks....and so it goes.

Regarding Amanda, one professor stated that her animations are the best he has ever seen from a student.  Very nice indeed!

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Question:  Where is the "Report Post" button?

Don is taking a nap.  He has extreme heel pain even after a cortizone shot two weeks ago & no doubt will have a 2nd. shot next week.  New orthotics and really nothing has helped his pain over several months.  He takes a book along so I can run into a store & if he has to leave for the car, he has something to read.

We must attend a surprise party on Sat night the same time we usually go to church.  It is really our fault because most people can hear the sermon on Sunday but Don has so much trouble with all the children and background noise that we just gave up & go only Saturdays now.  I miss the social contact though so we do go on Wednesday nights.

Larry:  Don did a letter only this year for the first time.  It seems as if that is most of what we receive from everyone else on the list.  Yes, this grandson is lightweight but plays hockey & stays right in there with older kids, he is one focused and determined young man when he wants to be ----   How are you & Pat coping with the holiday busy times?  Is your son & DIL coming for a visit?  I have not heard if he found another job.

Ed:  Such a short post from you.  What are you doing for the holidays?

Janet:  I think it is so nice to have programs for those in homes.  Our granddaughter always goes with the Brownie group & the kids really enjoy those visits as well.  Will Beth come home for Christmas or will she be safer right where she lives?  Sending you a hug.

Liz:  This is some year - I have relatives in the Seattle area & the storms  have been going on a long time.

Colin:  Is it time for you to rise and shine????  Have a cup of tea  :coffee:  oops, I gave you coffee.  Well, just put a tea bag in there & you won't know the difference..... ::)  Hope you are going to have a banner day!

Etta Sue:  You just seem to be so organized all the time even with the many things you do for others.  Bet you are happy to not be mowing for a few months.

Well, I know that the church in Loveland has quilting day tomorrow - those gals will never change for anything, even a blizzard.  I need to cut more fabric & get to it!

I've come upon a couple offensive/questionable posts lately.  C:-)  (<--- Post Police ;D)

Hi, Jane.  You still have power, I see.  Many are without I guess.  Did you hear there is a chance of 100 mph winds this afternoon and evening?  I have my candles ready, my scanner with fresh batteries, and my little propane heater ready. :)

I didn't know there was a report button, nor that there was trouble with yuckies coming with offensive posts.   Pat, you're a great zapper!

Still no puppy for Angel.  Kim talked to a woman today who is supposed to email pictures of a little girl she has.  If she likes her, they'll drive to Albany(Oregon) to get the little puppy.

I'm having an afternoon cup of coffee and watching the storm out the window.  The wind isn't too bad right now.  I could be out in it and enjoy it. :)

Hi Nita 100 MPH winds, oh my don't send them here. But I am sure we will get everythign you get uless it blows east from your place. I am prepared just in case although I do hope my tent/garage is tied down good enough to withstand  the winds.

Hi Jane what have you been up to beside being the post police  C:-) haha. i know it's a dirty job but someone has to do it.  <3

Hi Carol I need to cut some more fabric too and get started on the next quilt I want to make. I think it will be quilts for the family for Christmas next year. at least for my son who lives here and if I get enough made then for the twins too. Soemthing for them to pass on to their kids from me.

Hi Liz thanks for the great email you sent.

Larry, I would like to go to Florida but Ivalou and I need to find out when the Vacancy sign is on at Kaye Don and Barb's.

Carol ~ How did you notice?  I have been told I am too organized.  Jerry used to tell me I have the most organized computer around.  Even the computer tech said I did.  Oh, well.  That just shows I am related to my little Grandma that washed on Monday, ironed on Tuesday, picked up on Wednesday, cleaned on Thursday, grocery shopped on Friday and baked on Saturday.  Sunday was for church and Sunday visitors at their house.  I'm not quite that bad...detailed organization.

I've been trying to watch what I am eating for about 4 weeks now.  I called the doctor's office for a blood test for lipids and glucose.  I go tomorrow.  I have to fast.  Why am I hungry when I can't eat?   :-\ :'( :idiot: :uglystupid:

Hey there Nita ... and Marilyn!      ;D

Yup -- lotsa wind over here on my side of town!  I don't think you would enjoy being out in what we have over here, Nita. I watched our resident swan try to keep from drowning this morning!  He was being blown about and dunked under the water; having an awful time.  Finally, I guess he decided to look for shelter on land and I haven't seen him since.  Even the ducks have taken leave of the water.   ???

I heard that the temperatures are going to dip really low over night and there is even a possibility of snow tomorrow!  Now that is unusual.  Also there are blizzard warnings for the passes.  Tell Kim if she drives to Albany to be careful!

I have brought in a load of firewood and will be anticipating a cozy evening by the fire.  Might even make some popcorn to nibble on!   :D

Y'all take care now, y'hear?  I'll be in the corner on the alert as Post Police   C:-)

P.S. Hey Etta Sue~Don't you know that's exactly when you get hungry ... when you can't eat!   :P  By the way, I think you did a little zap job for this  C:-) too ... Thanks to all y'all who keep our place clean!  You do good work.

I have posted the Yam Carrot Crisp in the Meatless, Vegetarian Dishes.  It turned out really well.

We were watching TV last night and on a secular show this comment was made.  "shame is the pathway to grace"  I have been thinking a lot about that comment, when we are ashamed about our actions we are then able to truly repent.  A friend said many times in the last seven months that "Grace lives in her home".   Oh that we all could live, walking the talk of God's grace.

I must go I have a rather big job to do and it is getting late.  We want to get to bed early tonight as tomorrow is another early day.  I don't do mornings.

Night all and God Bless.

Liz

Jane, I think we need to compare storm notes.  Tonight a storm called 'The Granddaddy of All Storms' is due to hit around midnight.  Have lived on the island for 26 yrs. and never experienced anything like what is now happening.  Hydro said 70,000 people were without light & heat at last count and will continue for many days....I feel so blessed as we have been much better off than in most parts.  No traffic lights, etc. and off course that presents a danger, but Amanda has no school until Sat. when they have to go in for an exam.  So has not had to travel in the mess.  God is surely good to many of us.....not certain why, as I am a Christian who simply keeps on keeping on, without a lot of dwelling on being saintly.  Never going to make that goal, merely do the best possible.  Could be that is all we are expected to do.....Pastor Al.  What say you???

God Bless,

Liz
CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Nita

I've been listening on my scanner tonight.  There are trees, power poles and lines, down everywhere in outlying areas.  Just heard of a school bus being trapped behind trees that have fallen over the road.  It must have just happened because police are on the way now.  They are everywhere tonight!

Jane, I hadn't heard it was supposed to get cold tonight.  I was thinking that if I lost power, at least it was warm out. :)    I don't think Kim would go to Albany until the storm is over and roads are checked.  The woman was supposed to send  a picture, but hasn't.  Kim said she was on the phone with the woman and she said high winds were forecast for there too.

Our power, in my area, is ok.  I shut the computer down earlier because we had some dimming, but it seems ok now.

Judy, I think I agree with what you said you heard. Shame is the pathway to Grace.  Pathway being very important.  If we live in shame, without ever experiencing the grace that comes with repentance, then we again have our minds on ourselves.  I guess you know what I mean.  Even shame can be ME based if it's where we hang out.

Liz, I recently read that if we have the Spirit of Christ in us, are led by His leading (His Spirit again), then we don't have to think about this or that being Godly or saintly.  We just are, because He IS.  Maybe you are living in that Grace and Freedom Paul taught us about, and so there is no thought of self.  I'd like to live there all the time too, being so totally unaware of myself and always aware of God's Presence with me and in me and before me and behind me....:)

I haven't heard any wind for a few minutes, so maybe it's dying down.

Al and Marilyn, did you get any of our wind?

Nita

Marilyn

Just a little  nothing like you have there. Ours are supposed to be 40-50 MPH

IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY

It was my birthday
But did you remember me
As you opened your gifts
From below the Christmas tree

I waited for mine
But there came very few
I gave you my life
But what did I get from you

I asked for your love
But did you give me a thought
The gift of your heart
For it I have sought

It was my birthday
But did you set me a place
At your dinner table
Or did you mention me in grace

Eating and drinking
You took from my store
Then you left me standing
Outside your closed door

On your first birthday
I give you living breath
And every day since
I have blessed you with my wealth

You take all my gifts
And none in return will you give
Caring not I died for you
So eternally you could live

But I was not even a guest
At your celebrations yesterday
And I do not understand why
After all: it was MY BIRTHDAY

Colin Moffett

This poem is meant for the day after Christmas but as it is MY BIRTHDAY today...I thought I would post it now!
Marlene and I went into town yesterday and we went into one of the large shopping centres. We came in through the main doors and Marlene went straight in to a Card shop to get a Christmas card and I went on to the toilet and told her I would return and get her at the card shop. Coming out of the toilet, I returned to the card shop and not seeing Marlene in it, I sat down on a bench near its entrance expecting her to appear. I sat nearly an hour and still no sign of Marlene. I was now getting irrated so I got up to go looking for her and only after retracing my footsteps..I discovered I had went back to the wrong card shop and had been waitiing for her in the wrong place! To cut a long story short...she was not too pleased when we eventually met up again at the car! She had waited for me and then took off to do the rest of her shopping. I will keep taking the pills!

God bless everyone!

BORN AGAIN

A birthday again; another year has gone
Time is swiftly bearing us on
Carried as if on a an ever rolling wave
Onwards one way to the depth of the grave

And what of eternity when the sinking sun
Gives way to darkness and fleeing days are done
And life itself you cannot retake
When it is blown out like a candle on a cake

When Jesus walked the dust and grass of the earth
He spoke to sinners of new birth
And the words still are true as spoken then
For eternal life; you must be born again

Born of the flesh we are corrupt
And life itself can stop abrupt
Born of the spirit; we live forever
And we from God death cannot sever

What rejoicing then when angels sing
And Heaven hears their voices ring
When good news wings on its way
A repentant sinner born again today

What celebrations here there is on earth
When we mark someone's natural birth
When congratulations and good wishes fill the air
To Heaven's celebration cannot compare

When celestial ears hear the Father say
Rejoice my angels on my child's birthday
They once rebelled and me did scorn
But now repented and are reborn

Birthdays come and birthdays go
How many left we do not know
But born again and from sin set free
Is the best birthday ever for you and me

Colin Moffett

Another birthday poem!

I was out for a drive the other day and passed a man all stooped over and plodding along. I reversed the car and asked him if he was all right. Yes...he replied.... I am only obeying that traffic sign up the road a bit...it says...Bend for half a mile!  :uglystupid:
I woke up grumpy this morning...tomorrow..I think I will let the wife sleep on!

At least we will have no bother taking the feathers of the turkey this year. We bought one with a banjo...it is a turkey that plucks itself!

I will hear you all later!

Colin ~ Happy Birthday!!  You sure started out your birthday by giving laughter to everyone on CP.  Keep up the funny work!  May this day be your happiest ever!

Sure sounds like the west coast is getting a battering.  I am praying that everyone is fine out there.

Leaving in a few minutes to get my blood test for lipids and glucose.  I am drinking my water to hydrate myself.  There is only two things in this body that is small...my veins and my bladder...and no one can see either one!! ^-^
