Pat, thank you for sharing Joni's words with us today.  In her pain and disability, she has become so tender and wise, by living in constant dependence on our loving Lord.  And I pray you, my dear friend, are feeling very, very close to Him today, too.

Carol, good to read your happy and grateful words today, and so glad Don was able to enjoy the conversation.  We had horrible winds here on Sunday, so much so that I called John and asked him not to bring Beth to Hugoton, as we worried about the high-profile van; also about getting Beth out in that wind.  Her blankets would have blown off and maybe got her chilled.  They weren't really disappointed not to come, as she wasn't feeling up to getting out, anyway.  God always works things out, if we just stay pliable and patient.

Larry, I hope you got the Comcast problem worked out without too much hassle.  I am having problems with Amazon.  I ordered two orders, supposed to get two day delivery--and they canceled them both, with no notice received by me.  They were trying to use the wrong credit card.  I have been having problems with them for over six months now.  Ach!! :ticked:

I have an eye appointment at 2:00.  It's time for my checkup, and I've been having a few problems seeing, especially in certain environments.

Jeanne, thanks for the meditation you shared.  How I look forward to that glorious day when our JESUS returns!!  What a day that will be!

It is always so comforting to come here and read the sweet words of trust and obey.  Very thankful for so much!!

Hi everyone on another overcast but relatively warm morning and we are headed up to 68 degrees this afternoon.  I did make it to COSTCO to pick up the strawberries for Pat.  I got there early and it wasn't crowded and it only took me probably 15 minutes in the store.  Pat and I did go out for dinner last evening and when we got home I watched one of the football bowl games.  This is the season for many bowl games from now until after the first of the year.  I slept in again this morning and Pat had fixed her own breakfast by the time I got up.  She was in a lot of pain when she got up.  I don't plan to go anywhere today but rather after I finish the message boards I am going to do some cooking in preparation for our dinner tonight.  I always have more energy in the mornings than the afternoons.  We have some roast thawing out which we will fix in the crock pot adding some vegetables later.  I plan on fixing some green beans to heat up to go with dinner.  I may make some more sausage muffins for Pat.  It all depends on my energy level.

Yesterday I did call Comcast and found my current plan is good until April 24 of next year.  So I will call back a few days before then to talk about a new plan.  During the next few days, before th beginning of the year, I want to get things ready for next year here in my office, which means sorting through papers and preparing files for next year.

Pat, I think Joni has it right.  Thank for sharing her piece with us. I do hope you are beginning to feel better.  You certainly know about pain of both types as I suppose most, if not all, of us do at our ages.

Janet, you all were wise to insure that Beth stayed in where it was warm and where they were safe.  No problem with Comcast yesterday and had a very pleasant lady helping me and advising when to call back.  Sorry you have had problems with Amazon.  I read yesterday that they shipped over 1 Billion packages over the holiday season.  I wonder why you didn't get notice immediately about the credit card.  I hope you get it straitened out. We have had no problems with them.

Carol, your comment reminds me of that old hymn, Trust and Obey, for there's no other way...

Good Morning I had several days to catch up with all y'all. We left Saturday for California. We stayed at the Ramada inn. Well we slept there anyway. Most of the time we were at Gilbert's house, where we had a wonderful time of conversation and  family time. On Sunday we went back to Gilbert's for more family time and good food. Monday  we got back on the road to head for home but first we stopped in McKinleyville  for a brief visit with Bill who lives across the street from  where I lived. Then we went on to Willa's house  and stayed there for about an hour. She is 90 now and has some dementia. She didn't remember Keith but she definitely  knows who I am. Freckles made the trip with us.

I had laundry to do when we got home, baked a carrot cake for Keith yesterday and since the rain had stopped I got out to walk with Freckles a couple of times. Everything here is back to normal. I got the part to fix my bread machine now waiting for Keith to  put it in. I tried to break loose the screw but couldn't do it, could be that it need some soaking with WD-40 to loosen them.

We are waiting for delivery men to bring the new adjustable bed.  We already moved the queen size bed out of the other bedroom, into the garage, and got the king size one stripped and ready.  Will have them move it in where the queen was.  Then we will have three king sized beds here!  I just realized that!  :o  I think this will likely be the last new bed we will purchase.  The sheets I ordered for it (from Amazon) haven't come.  It needs extra long twin size fitted sheets.  Guess we will use queen size flat ones until that Amazon order arrives---if it ever does!  I re-ordered, and made sure the right card was ticked, so I hope it comes this time!  ???

They were to be here between 4 and 5, and it's nearly five now!  Sigh.  There goes supper!

Marilyn, glad you had a nice visit, and got to see friends in McKinleyville too.  I always have laundry to do after being away, but I guess we all do.  Laundry is one chore I do not mind at all.

Larry, glad your call to Comcast wasn't stressful, and hope the next one will not be, either.

All you missing ones--we love you and miss you!  Please come back and chat with us!

Hi everyone.  We awoke to a rainy morning but it is suppose to be gone around 11 this morning.  The moisture is welcome.  There is a wind advisory out for us today.

Yesterday was an interesting day.  I got a lot done yesterday morning including the cooking projects I had on the schedule.  Pat did get in to see the chiropractor about 4 pm yesterday and I went to Aldi's, where everything was very much picked over and some of the produce items I wanted were out of stock.  I will stop there again this morning after coffee to see if they have restocked as the cashier told me the restock items were coming in this morning.  I only have coffee this morning as our Wisdom group is not meeting because the minister is out of the office today.  We are fixing a roast in the crock pot for our dinner tonight and the meat is ready as are the vegetables.  So I look forward to a laid back day.  I am sure I will watch some football before the day is over as South Carolina plays at 2 pm and then Virginia Tech plays a little before six.

While I was at Aldi's yesterday Scott called me to say his flight from Augusta had been cancelled due to staffing problems.  That was going to mess everything up in terms of his flight back this morning, the car rental and whether he could get a re-ticketing or would we lose the expensive fare for the return ticket. However, about an hour later he texts us and says they have him on another flight leaving 30 minutes earlier than he originally expected.  He did make it to Albany, NY, and we had another text from him early this morning saying they were at the Albany airport and their plane back was on time.  So it appears all has worked out for which we all are very thankful.  I look forward to seeing our Granddaughter, whom we haven't seen for probably 7 or 8 years.

Marilyn, glad to read you have a good trip to California and your time with your son and his family and also seeing other friends on your way home.  Did Freckles enjoy the trip?

Janet, hope you got the new bed and had a good nights sleep on it.  When we got the adjustable bed Pat was told she needed to get extra long top sheets.  I don't know why as they are way too long and a lot of the sheet has to be tucked in at the foot of the bed.  I hope that will not be your experience.  You have us beat by one king size bed as we only have two with one of them in the guest bedroom.

Well, our latest winter storm is under way.  We're told to expect from 2" to 12".  Unless we get more.  Or unless we get less.  :o

Hi everyone.  We have a bright and sunny morning that starts for me at 44 degrees headed into the low 50's for later today.

The good news yesterday was that Scott and his daughter, Jennifer, arrived safely and on time yesterday afternoon back here in Augusta.  We invited them out to dinner last evening but they were so tired from the trip that they declined.  This was understandable as Scott said he had been awake since 1 pm on Wednesday and it had been a lot of flying and uncertainty.

The housekeeper will be here later this morning.  I plan no cooking today as we have plenty of left overs from last night for this evening.  I plan on staying home and watching some of the bowl games, including Georgia playing at noon.  I saw two good games yesterday.

Jeanne, I am wondering whether you got the 12" of snow?  You sounded like the weathermen yesterday who most often state there predictions as percentage chances.  That way they can never be really wrong.

Jeanne Lee

No, thankfully it wasn't the full 12 inches of snow, but we did get about five or six inches.  Flurries today and then maybe some slightly warmer temperatures next week that will help melt some of it.  One problem with that, though.  Even if the daytime temps go above freezing, it goes back down into the 20's or lower at night and the roads, etc. where there had been melted snow it turns to ice.  Makes driving and walking a little adventuresome.

Our waiting for the furniture delivery on Wednesday was in vain.  I finally called the store, and she said, "Oh!  Not today!  Tomorrow!"  That was not what she said, but, no real harm done.  They did come yesterday, so we have the bed installed and slept in it last night.  Darrel got the firmer mattress, I got the softer one.  He had a hard time sleeping last night but says he will adjust!  Glad he has about 12 days to get used to it before he has his surgery!

Can you believe all the antics Obama is up to in these (thankfully!) final days of his "Kingship"?  :clobber: :uglystupid:   And he says when they move out of the White House, Micheele wants him to take her on a vacation--and it better be a NICE one, because "she's earned it!"  What planet is she from, anyway?  Are they even home from the latest extravagant vacation yet?  Okay, I'll stop on that.

Jeanne, glad you didn't get the full 12" of white stuff.  Yes, the ice is treacherous for walking or driving.  I hope you have everything you need so you don't have to get out in the snow or on the ice!

Larry, glad Scott and Jennifer got there safely, and hope you have a great visit with her.  It's been too long!  I had planned to go get our three great granddaughters today for an overnight stay, but when I called this morning, their Mom said the youngest, Jenna, still has a cough and runny nose.  We don't dare take any unnecessary chances on Darrel getting a cold or anything right here before his surgery!  So maybe Sunday afternoon for the girls.  They don't go back to school until Wednesday.

Marilyn, I went to my eye Doctor on Tuesday and again on Wednesday.  He wanted me to come back so they could take pictures of my eyes, to get a comparison with two years ago on the macular degeneration.  And my vision has actually improved in my right eye, so I am getting only one new lens this time!  I hope you get a good report, too.  I had the cataract surgery some years ago, and later the YAG on both eyes to clear them up.  It took probably an hour and a half for the dilation of my eyes to go away.  It would have passed more quickly, I expect, if I hadn't fallen asleep right after I got home!

Hi everyone.  When I looked at the temperature at about 7 this morning it was 33 degrees but don't think it was that cold here at the house.  We are expecting the mid-50's this afternoon with no rain.  I had a very quiet day yesterday and plan another one for today.  I fixed Pat's breakfast and now will work in my office this morning and plan on watching the college football games today as they start at 11 am the four games will take all day.  I will work a little nap in there somewhere.

Jeanne, the thought of ice outside is frightening to me.  Glad you can stay in and avoid it.

Marilyn, hope your eye appointment showed no new progression of the macular degeneration.

Janet, I hope Darrel adjusts to his new mattress quickly and that you are liking yours.  I love the idea of each person being able to adjust their own side of the bed.  I sleep with my head elevated and Pat usually has her feet elevated and these can easily be adjusted without bothering the other.  You also don't feel it when the other person moves during the night.  Good news about your eye improving as that is usually not the case.

Marilyn

My eye appointment showed no change in the Macular Degeneration, however there is a change in the cataract so I go back in 6 months to check that. I was told to wear good sunglasses and a hat outdoors and to  get some  artificial tears for those times when the floaties are in my eyes. They come from the tear ducts. I didn't know that.

It is very cold here today, there was ice on the streets when we went to Walmart and the temperature will be in the 20's at night. brrrr.

Happy New Year's Eve!!

I didn't expect any deliveries today, but we got one!!  Our sheets for the new bed arrived, so we can  now remake it with the fitted sheets.  After years of using those, we didn't do too well with flat sheets for the bottom ones!  ;)

I took down and put away all the Christmas decorations I had put up, which wasn't very many, this morning.  We plan to go to the Seniors' New Year's Eve dance in Hugoton tonight, so have some food prepared to take for that.  We haven 't danced in many months, maybe since last year at this time!

Larry, our Kansas State team won the Texas Bowl game the other night!!  :D  We went to bed at half time, so didn't see the end, but are happy they won!  I think we will like the adjustable bed, and I'm glad we got it soon enough for Darrel to adjust to it before his surgery.

Marilyn,  I had not heard that floaters come from the tear ducts.  Since those only drain the excess tears, I'm not sure how that is possible.  I never had floaters until I had the cataract surgery, now I do have them, but usually adjust quickly so I don't notice them.  They told me they are tiny bits of "debris" from the surgeries, and nothing can  be done about it. Hmmm......

It's nice here today, but they predict very cold weather for us again Tuesday through Friday.

I need to go see if I have anything "blingy"  to wear tonight!   ;) ;)
