Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Do You Deserve Justice or Mercy?

O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your rage.

Have compassion on me, Lord, for I am weak. Heal me, Lord, for my body is in agony.

I am sick at heart. How long, O Lord, until you restore me?

Psalm 6:1-3 NLT

"You have heard that the Law of Moses says, 'Love your neighbor' and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting like true children of your Father in heaven."
Matthew 5:43-45 NLT

About this week's promise

When others wrong us, we cry out for justice. When we wrong God, we cry out for mercy. Fortunately, God is merciful. But if we don't accept his merciful gift of salvation, we are subject to God's justice, the punishment of eternal death and separation from God. Until God sets up his eternal kingdom, where perfect justice prevails, justice will continue to be needed here on earth—both God's justice to urge us toward his kingdom, and law and order to keep anarchy from ruling. But we would do well to learn some lessons about God's mercy as we mete out justice. While justice provides law and order, mercy provides hope and forgiveness—God's formula for restoration.

God is Love, His Mercy Brightens
(Click to hear music)

"God is love." 1 John 4:16

Words: John Bowring, Hymns, 1825

Music: "Sussex," English melody; adapted by Ralph Vaughan Williams, 1906

God is love; His mercy brightens
All the path in which we rove;
Bliss He wakes, and woe He lightens:
God is wisdom, God is love.

Chance and change are busy ever;
Man decays and ages move;
But His mercy waneth never:
God is wisdom, God is love.

E'en the hour that darkest seemeth
Will His changeless goodness prove;
From the mist His brightness streameth:
God is wisdom, God is love.

He with earthly cares entwineth
Hope and comfort from above;
Everywhere His glory shineth:
God is wisdom, God is love.

Thank you for the devotional Judy. Keith installed my new stove top yesterday, i have been using it today and I love the way I can adjust the  Radiant heat to just the right temperature. Love the glass top it is so easy to clean. It is awesome and I am so happy.

Hi everyone.  We still have power this morning although we have had lots of snow and occasional sleet.  It is suppose turn to freezing rain with about a quarter to a half inch of ice.  However, the weatherman just said it looks like the heavy part may be past this area.  It is going to stay cold all week so the snow will probably stay on.  Almost everything is closed for today.  I was just happy when I got up that we still have power and am keeping my fingers crossed.

Marilyn, glad you are enjoying your new stove.  Those type ranges certainly look nice.

Judy, thanks for the devotional for today.

Janet, we did get the snow that was predicted and am just hoping the ice won't break the power lines.  We have underground utilities in our development but at some point the power source is above ground and it is not unusual for us to lose power in a storm.

Carol, thanks for the info on your grandson's team and games.

Planning on just enjoying a quiet day at home.

Etta Sue

Busy day so far.  Changing bed linens.  Washing and drying them.  Trash.  Breakfast.  Talked with Ivalou.  Devotions.  Lunch.  And now catching up online.  I use the Droid and LiveBible to read the 'Bible in a Year' books and verses.  First thing I noticed was a warning sign at the top.  I clicked on it.  My location is in for severe weather!  But it isn't suppose to start snowing until late tonight!  I hope real late since this evening is Photo Guild and I am driving.

Glad I have no where to go tomorrow!  Kitty and I are planning on swimming Wednesday and I am to drive again.  If I can get out of my drive, the roads will be clear, I am sure!

I have a g'niece on FB in Alabama and she was talking about the snow there.  The state of Alabama doesn't know what to do with snow other than wait until it melts!!  I remember being stranded there because the roads were icy.  I had a battery operated police scanner and told Bud that a sand truck was coming.  We were at a place called Five Points.  Sure enough, here came the truck.  Backwards with a man in the bed of the truck shoveling sand on the road!!  But we got back to the motel and stayed another day.

The next day we were heading north over Blount Mountain.  A policeman stopped us and told us we couldn't go on because the road was snow covered.  We told him we had to go on to get home.  He asked us where home was and we said Indiana.  With no hesitation, he said go on.  You know how to drive in snow...people here doesn't know how!

And yes, there everything closed ...restaurants ...Walmart ...Kmart ...everything when it snowed!!

Right now it is bright and sunny and doesn't feel like only 28 degrees out there since there is no breeze!  What snow there is on the pavements are melting!

Marilyn...do you have to have flat bottomed pots and pans to cook on your new range?  I think I heard that somewhere.  And I am sure that the glass top would be so much easier to keep clean!

JudyB...refresh my memory.  When is your surgery?

It is a cool but sunny day here in southern Ontario.

I went to the Dr's for the usual appointment but he did decide that it was time for me to have blood work done and another test as well.  I had been told that a week without beef would show a reduced cholesterol count I will give it a try.  Then for the other test I am not to have any citrus products as that will interfere with the results.   Both of these I can do anytime in the near future.

Larry: Yes the hydro billing is lower after I think 7 or so each evening and even lower on the weekends. In the summer when I am able to hang the laundry outside I will do it anyday as I am not using the dryer(that is a lot of extra hydro)

Marilyn: I now have a glass top stove, the cleaning is easy but the need to clean shows more and I have learnt real quick to not let the pots boil over.   Like you I do enjoy the stove very much. The one I have also came from sears.  The stove is not a built in style.   Like any stove the pans are better if they are flat less rocking.

Judy: Thanks for today's devotional.

About the cars or vans we lean towards Chev or Dodge although we did have a bad experience with a dodge but that was the dealer selling a defective car, Mel had it out with them and we did reach an acceptable agreement.  As for fords they are good but not for us.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.Ă‚  Proverbs 3:6

Marilyn

Etta sue the instructions that came with my stove top says to use flat bottomed pans.

Ruth when I cook I have my dishcloth  near the stove and wipe up  whatever gets spilled. I have always done that and the stove  has always been washed right after each time I have used it.

Cold here today--below 0 this morning, finally got up to about 18 or so.  We stayed in all day, didn't go anywhere!  I was glad we didn't need to go out.

I also have a glass-topped stove, love it!  Even if something should get burned on, you can use a razor blade scraper to get it off.  I have one saucepan that is warped (rounded) on the bottom, and it dances around on the stove!  :o  Not good.

Marilyn, your graphic doesn't show for me, or photo, or whatever.  Wonder why?

So sad about the little 9 year old girl who was murdered in that terrible shooting in Tucson.  Sad about all, but losing a child is doubly hard.  I am so disgusted with the media for trying to turn it into a political advantage for the left, and for the idiotic idea that they can blame Sarah Palin for it!  What do they have for brains, sawdust??  :ticked:

I am fasting, want to do a complete fast for a week or 10 days, then switch over to the Daniel fast for the rest of the 21 days.  I fasted all day yesterday, then a friend who had been saying for months she wanted to have us over for supper, called and invited us for last night!  So I started over again this morning.  We had a good time, three couples were there and after supper we played Balderdash.  It was fun--and I won!  ;)

Larry, glad you didn't lose your power!  I think you got more snow than we did; we only have maybe two inches, but really cold temps.  Stay in and take care of yourselves, please.  (I know you will.)

Whoops A BIG typo.  Surgery is !!:30 AM Eastern

I had an exciting and rather terrifying night.  I loaded the furnace for the night about 10:30 and walked away from it.  About half hour later I was still chilly and went back to make sure the wood had caught, only to find out that the furnace fan had quit....Tell me why do these things always happen when John is gone????  The basement was styfling hot so I called Heather for advice and help and she was not answering her phone.  So I called Melaura to have her get hold of Heather for me and Melaura called Doug too.  Whew...  Doug came over and took the fan out, and put the fan in that we use to dry wood.  It is a furnace fan as well just bigger than the one that we need, but it is doing the job till John gets home.  My biggest fear in this old wood house is fire...... Thank you Lord for a son who came running.  It is now 2:30 and I have a doctors appointment in the morning.  So I need some rest.

Night all

Hi everyone from a still stranded Georgian.  I really cannot complain as we have heat and lights and plenty of food and can just wait out the situation until we can get out again.  If anything it is much worse here this morning than yesterday in that there is a lot of ice, especially on the roads and walkways.  Only a few cars have been up and down our street and they sound like they are crunching ice.  It is suppose to stay cold for several days so this situation may go on for quite awhile.  Most everything is closed again today.

Judy, that would be a troublesome situation to have the stove so hot and no fan on it.  Glad there was a work around and that Doug knew what to do.

Janet, I agree completely with your statements concerning the Tucson situation.  That was the cutest little child that was killed.  What an evil man to do such a thing.  Hope you are able to continue with your fast.

Marilyn, I can't see your graphic either and I tried several things.  Glad you are enjoying your new stovetop.  I have offered to get one like that for my wife but so far she has declined.  Of course, when we were first married she didn't want a clothes dryer either and then when she got one the clothes lines were seldom, if ever, used again.

Ruth, thanks for the info on the hydro situation where you are.  I don't think we have anything like that here except different summer and winter rates.  Good luck with your preparation for the blood tests.

Etta Sue, I grew up in Missouri where we often had a lot of snow and learned to drive in it.  I also lived a couple of years in Alaska, where you had to drive on snow covered and icy streets a long time in the winter.  However, think I have lived in Georgia so long that I probably don't remember much about driving in the snow and don't intend to learn now.  One of the advantages of being retired is that you don't have to get out each day and fight such conditions.  Hope you were able to make it to your photo guild meeting.

I have no major projects I am working on so will have a pretty quiet day here in the house.  Do have lots to read and you can always spend time on the computer.

Student Driver

As an instructor in driver education at Unionville-Sebewaing Area High School in Michigan, I've learned that even the brightest students can become flustered behind the wheel.

One day I had three beginners in the car, each scheduled to drive for 30 minutes. When the first student had completed his time, I asked him to change places with one of the others. Gripping the wheel tightly and staring straight ahead, he asked in a shaky voice, "Should I stop the car?"

Yesterday the weather warning said snow falling late evening.  When Cherie and Kitty got in the car for Guild, Cherie said at 4pm, they said 8 hours, then the snow would be falling.  I was up last night every two hours and no snow falling until 7am.  Now everything is covered with white stuff once again and still coming down thick!  When I look out my bathroom window it is a white-out!  The snow plow has been on my road twice already!  Not much traffic.  I haven't had on the TV but I imagine there is a lot of school closings.  Businesses rarely close...just meeting and such in the evenings.

I am so amazed that the quality of photos that are shown at our Photo Guild.  Every year one of the women makes a DVD for each of us with photos that we submit for the year.  I wish I could share that and all the past year DVD's with you.  Beautiful shots.  But in the meantime, you can go the
Killbuck Photo Guild website and check some of them out.

About Sarah Palin, have any of you seen her show on Alaska?  I love those shows.  The scenery is awesome.  Someone said that it was canceled though!  Too much controversy.  One woman wrote and said they should go to the store and get there meat where it is made instead of shooting all the animals!!  And when they were fishing and came upon wild bear fighting, they said that was cruel to make those bears fight like that!!  Stupid people!!  Their way of living is totally different in Alaska than the lower 48!

I have a pot of smoked sausage, green beans, onions, carrots and potatoes on the stove.  I am going to have to name that someday!  It sure smelled good in here!!  Where is cyber-smell?

So far it is clear, sunny & cold but I do understand that we are to get snow this afternoon.

Larry: Since retiring it is nice to know that on those bad days I can stay indoors and just look out the windows.  If necessary I will venture out but only short distances.

Marilyn:  I was not able to see the picture.

Judy: Although frustrating it is good to have family that will come to help when needed.

Janet:  How is your family?
Janet are rocky pans harmful to a plat top stove other than dancing all over the place?

We're under a "Winter Weather Advisory".  Snow is supposed to start slowly around midnight and last until 8:00 p.m. tomorrow.  Prediction is we can get from 4 to 7 inches of snow.  Last time they said 1 to 6 inches and we got 12.   :o

That was a photo of my new stove top, the link was in an email that is probably why it isn't showing. Oh well I am not going to post it again. the instructions that came with it said to use flat bottomed pans, so that is what I am doing.

yesterday when I went to the Ortho Doc about my  hand follow up they had salted the parking lot and the walkway, I guess they didn't want anyone to slip and fall.

It seems like the left has  gone out of their way to blame the tea party, Sarah Palin and the right for the shooting. How stupid can people like moveon.org get.

Etta Sue, I agree with you, some people just are so dumb to really believe that kind of stuff.

Etta Sue, I agree too!!  Only I would say that city people (lots of them) believe that stupid stuff.  Those of us who grew up in the country know about hunting, fishing, etc.  When I visited Alaska the first time, I got a tee shirt that has this huge mosquito (Alaska's state bird, they joke) carrying a moose up into the sky.  It was for the annual Moose Dropping Festival.  Some of those Animal Roghts people had made a big fuss the year before about how cruel it was to take the moose up (by helicopter??) and drop them!!  The Festival is really about the droppings--they make all kinds of silly things from moose droppings, and sell them to tourists!!

I finally got to see an episode of Sarah  Palin's Alaska, and loved it--except that she had Kate Gosslin and her 8 kids on it.  They went camping, and that Kate was the biggest wimp I have ever seen!  She griped and whined and complained the whole time, and stayed under a tent, walking about three or four feet back and forth, then said she'd had enough, she was almost in tears.  "I'm Cold!!  I'm hungry!!  It's raining!"  etc.  Then she took her kids and left--(the kids did NOT want to go, and she shamed them into it by telling them that they could be Palins, then, not Gosslins,so rather than camping, they only had lunch outdoors.  When one of her kids brought Kate a hotdog, she looked at it like it was a bug and asked, "What IS this?"  And nibbled at it like it was something horrible.  Sheesh.  Typical city wimp.

Ruth, my family is fine at the moment.  Mom seems to have rallied some, and Beth is her usual happy self, thank God.  Now Darrel's 98 year old Mom is in the hospital in Amarillo, in CCU, with congestive heart failure.

It was -6 here this morning, with wind chill of -16!  B-r-r-r-r!  The sun is shining, though, so I expect it is warming up a little.  I haven't been out yet, but will go see about Mom and Beth a little later.

Time to stop!

Yes, me again!  Sorry.  I came back to answer Ruth's question about the rounded bottom pan.  No, it doesn't hurt the cooktop a bit, just doesn't set firmly so it gets the full benefit of the heat.  I don't use it any more, the dancing makes me nervous--that pan doesn't have all the right moves!  ;)  Actually, about the only thing that will damage one of those cooktops is dropping something heavy on it and breaking the glass.  My grandson and wife had one in the house they bought in NM that was cracked clear across, but it still worked.  They did replace it,though.

Okay, now I'm through......I think!  ;)

We didn't do much today but drove to a laundromat so I could wash 2 large comforters.  The place was right next to an Arby's so we shared a chicken salad sandwich and had to have a chocolate dessert.

Interesting message on a religion station today and that was about how we use our mouths - to either honor the Lord or give credence to evil.  It was such a thoughtful idea.

Hi everyone.  We are still snowed in (maybe should say we are iced in).  At least today the sun is shining go hope the ice on the streets and roads will melt.  However, the temperature is not to get above freezing today.  We will stay in again today unless the driveway clears and I can get to the mailbox without risk.

Obviously there is nothing going on with us since we can't get out to do anything.  Did a bit of reading and watched some TV yesterday and will do the same today.

Jeanne Lee

Larry, I've been watching the news about your area.  You're smart to just stay in until things change for the better.  We have 5 inches of snow so far and we seem to be right on the line between predictions for 4-6 and 6-12.

We lived in the east while I went to seminary, and so I know what snow/ice is like.  Very glad to be elsewhere now!  Here it gets up to approx. 50 every day, and only gets down to, maybe, 45.  Lately, we've experienced some semi-sunny days, but it appears to be heading back into the rainy weather now.  Thankfully, no snow, no ice, no salt, no snowplows, etc.  But God places us where He wills, and that's the best place to be.

Etta Sue

Janet, I saw that episode with Kate Gosslin on Sarah Palin's show.  Now she has made an 'impressive' image of herself twice...on that show and Dancing with the Stars! Wonder if she ever watches herself after being filmed!

I had said to Kitty that we would go swimming today and me drive.  She emailed me and asked if we should take a rain-(snow)check and stay home.  I called Tony who works on the other side of Indy and he said the roads were good...just have to have common sense and not rush.  So I called Kitty and told her I would be at her house around 11am.  We plan to eat out and then swim and then whatever...Hobby Lobby, Barnes and Noble...Borders.

The wind has picked up but instead of drifting my drive, it has blown most of the snow off of it!  yeah!  Cars are moving fairly fast on my road and on the state highway across the field to the north of me.

I am getting cabin fever and even if I just go to Kitty's and we play computer, I will be fine!  Maybe go somewhere to eat and go back to her house.  Whatever.

Larry and Jeanne stay inside.  I was watching the accidents in your areas.  Larry is there a teen in your area or church who would get your mail for you?

It is cloudy and overcast here.  Don't know what that will bring, but it is early enough for the plows to work before we have to go south.

I love to watch Sarah Palin's Alaska.  I missed the one you are refirring to.  The show sure gives a look at the wildness of the area.

Jeanne Lee

Judy, don't worry that I might go out.  Only an absolute emergency will get me out today.  And maybe tomorrow, too.   ;)  I keep opening the front storm door and pushing the accumulation so that I don't get stuck in totally, like happened a couple of years ago.  That time it was a couple of feet deep and I couldn't open either the front or back at all for a four days.  Not a good situation, so I try to keep ahead of it now.
