JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Marilyn, I have a prayer and bible study meeting tonight, however, it's not snowing...... a little cool (-13 C; 8.6 F) though.
We had the same problem as JudyB, last night, a furnace fan that died. Fortunately, we had an old working one in the barn so Everett replaced it today and we are starting to get warmer!!

Janet

I got called in to work today, so that's where I've been.

Etta Sue, I thought the same thing re Kate Gosslin.  If you can act that ugly when you KNOW the cameras are on you, how did she act at home with her husband??  No big surprise that he left!

Our little dab of snow is about gone.  Anyone want to send us some more?  Thanks!  :) ;)

I am not telling anyone here that I'm fasting, except of course, Darrel.  But let me tell you, it's hard to cook all day and not taste even one bite!  But the Lord gave me the strength to do it.  This is my third day.

I'm going to the library soon for Wednesday Whimseys.  That's what the gal calls our little scrapbook page making time.  It's fun.

Hope you all stay warm and stay safe!

Father, help Janet in her fasting.  You know us  so well.  You know how difficult it is  to do this.  Bless her in it, and enable her to use the time normally  spent eating to seek Your Face.  Oh do these things, Father, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ruth

Yes it is cold here but it is to be even colder for the next 2 days.
This was our day for coffee at Tim's and yes we had our breakfast as well an english muffin with smoked ham, egg & cheese along with our coffee.

Al:   I like your humor keep it coming.

Today has been a terrible day - One of Toronto's Finest was struck down by an individual that had stolen a truck with a snow plow attached, and yes the officer has passed away.  The officer was on our streets doing what every police officer does protect but this time he lost his life. This whole thing started early this morning and the streets in the area will no doubt be closed for the next several days while they try to put the crime scene together.  The fellow driving the stolen truck is in hospital but alive.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Good morning, All!  I am waiting on the heat pump fixer-upper!  Hope today gets the job done!

I opened the back door and saw a two-foot drift so I bundled up and shoveled a way for them (him) to get into the back door.  So I think now they (he) can get in without hopping drifts!

Kitty and I had a great time.  I almost got stuck in my drive since it drifted the night before.  But I felt great to get through a couple of big drifts.  Then to Kitty's.  Her U-shaped drive had been plowed out but the highway department snow plow came afterwards and there was a big pile of snow at one of her entrances...so I drove to the next one and it was okay.  No problem.  It was a little iffy until I got on a state highway and then it was fine the rest of the day until I got in Kitty's county.  All the roads were covered and a tad slick!  I didn't slide but I slowed down and drove a steady speed to avoid it!  It is funny, kind of, to drive in Madison county and when you get to Hamilton county is like night and day.  My road had no snow on it at all...Hamilton county.

We ate at McCallisters and then went swimming.  Why is it the first few laps are strenuous and then it is easy going?

After swimming we went to Barnes and Noble Bookstore and I purchased 'Heaven is for Real' to take to church and share with others.  I love that little book.  Thanks, Janet.

Then off to Hobby Lobby for some yarn to make another pair of fingerless gloves.

Then back to Kitty's and home.  Great day.  We kept saying that there weren't many people out on the road and shopping.  Duh!  Maybe we shouldn't have been but we made it just fine!  And just what both of us needed.  Kitty was down in the dumps but felt so much better as the day wore on!

I got all settled in for the evening of TV and saw someone drive in my drive.  I figured they were turning around.  Then I heard a motor revving like someone was stuck.  I went to the door and a pickup truck was in my drive and a man was getting out.  I figured it was Tony.  It wasn't.  It was my cousin that is my age.  He had been to the funeral home in Lapel and stopped in to say 'Hi'!  First time he had been to the house since I moved here 9 years ago.  A great evening visiting and talking about our old days of double dating!

Today is a cold 12° and no sunshine but very little wind.  I looked at the 7-day forecast and it is not to get above freezing all those days and only Saturday is suppose to get to freezing!  Brrr!

Come on, SPRING!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We finally have a bright, sunshiny day but it is very cold.  Currently it is 23 degrees and not to get above freezing and then tonight down to 14 degrees, one degree short of the record cold.

I still haven't been out of the house.  Our next door neighbor decided yesterday morning he needed to put some trash out and went out his front door and feel.  The result is that he is in the hospital with a cracked hip and the ball out of the hip socket.  The doctors are to decide today what to do for him.

Judy, we get little mail that is important other than some monthly billings.  We had no mail service on Monday and Tuesday but it did run yesterday.  Also yesterday afternoon the UPS truck stopped and delivered a box to us of something we had ordered.  I was a bit worried about his getting to the house but he knew how to deal with the ice and snow and had no problem.  We noted he was wearing short pants.  I would think his legs would be terribly cold but he must be used to it.  I sure hope this is the last day we are confined to the house.

I plan to be out of town on Saturday and return home on Sunday.  Pat is going with me as the last time I went to this event I really got to feeling bad.  I had ridden with someone or I would have probably come home early or at least driven between the motel and the conference center where we were meeting, which was really not very far, maybe a block but seemed like a mile.

Etta Sue, sounds like you had a very nice day with Kitty and sure it was good to be able to get out and go.  Your description of the snow removal in the other county sounds like what we have all over this area.  We need snow removal so seldom that local governments cannot justify the expense.

Ruth, certainly a sad event in your town.  Many lives impacted by a foolish and criminal act.  Eating out sure sounds good now.

Hope you enjoyed your Wednesday Whimsey yesterday.  I know you will do will with your fasting.

RuthV, glad you got your heat fixed.

Marilyn, it sounds nice that you can have the person come in to do your nails and hair rather than having to go to a shop.

Jeanne, it just isn't worth the risk to get out in snow and ice.  I had another friend besides my neighbor who fell on the ice on Tuesday.  Fortunately, he wasn't hurt but is 76 and certainly could have been from the fall.

Jeanne Lee

Larry, don't worry, I'm not going anywhere for a while.  The snow stopped around 7:00 last night after leaving 7 inches on my front porch - it's still there until my neighbor is able to clear it off for me.  I need to call for delivery of a prescription refill so I hope the driveway, porch and car are cleared by tomorrow.  I've been trying to see whether the roads in the trailer park have been plowed, but the sun is shining and there's so much glare from the snow it's hard to see anything.

I'm with Etta Sue - Come on SPRING!   ;D

Janet

Al, thanks for the prayer, and Larry for the encouragement concerning my fasting.  This is day four of the complete fast, and I feel just fine.  I will carve out a chunk of time today to spend with the Lord, as I couldn't yesterday because I worked.  Then when I sat down to read the Word and pray, I fell asleep.  Probably because I'd been awake since 2 AM.

Larry, so sorry to hear about your friend's fall.  Just like my sister!  And glad the other friend wasn't hurt, but maybe next time he will not take such a chance.  It's still icy and cold here, but the roads are clear, just have icy patches in the shade near buildings, etc.  I am being careful!

Jeanne, glad you're not taking chances, either!  Hope your pharmacy delivery gets there okay.

I want to continue digging out stuff and decluttering.  I got so much done on Tuesday, it encourages me to keep on.  We have so many books, I want to go through those, starting today, and take to the Senior Center or somewhere to give away.

The screen is jumping again, see you all later!

Ruth:  It is truly sad for your community re the officer.  They all have such stressful job.

Well, our friends will be coming for overnights weekly it seems as he continues to have tests and transfusions - not to mention other things.  We are going to get a key made for them in case we are not home and a bed designated.  Last night, they treated us to a wonderful southwest meal.

I just went for a walk and it was about 50 degrees F. outdoors & Don is off to the hardware store.

Marilyn

Lots of rain here today, it wasn't raining when I went to the gym,  it has since  really poured down a couple of times, I started to go out to get grubby out of the  raise flower bed in front of the bay window, but it was pouring too hard and he was dry there under the overhang. When it let up a little bit I went out there and wrapped him up in a towel to bring him in the house. Gotta take care of our fur babies.

I have decided that I need more exercise than I am getting in at the gym, I have gained 6 lbs since Thanksgiving. With happy not wanting to take the longer walks I have been lax in my walking. I think I will just have to double up on Bebe's walks, although Happy is doing  much better since I started giving him Intensive Yucca drops  twice a day.

A cold January day.   But not cold enough to stop me from doing a little grocery shopping me thinks we need to eat.

The crew doing the sewer installation have been out there digging to get a leak repaired, they started early this morning and are still out there, it's good that they know to dress warm.

Today is haircut day and I got my car out.  Not stuck.  It is warming and I am typing with my heavy coat on.  I did take off my gloves.

Heat pump is fixed...now to get the bill.

It is still cold...19 degrees.  Suppose to get to 32 tomorrow!  Yay!!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I was able to get out this morning and go to coffee at the Senior Center.  There were six of us in attendance.  I think we all were happy to finally be able to get out of the house for a bit.  The roads I traveled on were fine.  My driveway is clear and the road to the Senior Center was clear as was the parking lot.  So I think the worst is over.  The schools are all still out and I don't remember a time when they were closed for 5 days in a row.  Monday is the MLK holiday so it will be next Tuesday before they go back.  The trash service was cancelled for this week.  The snow on the grassy areas is just like a smooth sheet of ice.  It is beautiful with the sun shining on it but also can be blinding.

Pat and I will get out later today to go to the grocery store and bank.  I stopped at the bank this morning but they hadn't opened yet and a sign said they were having a delayed opening.  It is still only 21 degrees here but going to get up to 40 degrees by midday.

Etta Sue, glad you got your heat pump fixed as there is still a lot of winter to come.

Ruth, I always feel for the workers who must be outside to do their work.  I always felt fortunate to have a job where I was inside.

Marilyn, is grubby your cat?  You are very kind hearted and I am sure your pets are really pampered pets.  :)  It is easy to let the pounds come back.

Carol, I am sure your friends really appreciate having a place to stay as well as being able to spend some time with you all.

Janet, I often think we should de-clutter some around here.  Fortunately, due to moving many times over the years we have previously cleared out a lot of what we had accumulated including downsizing so had to get rid of a lot of furniture.  We haven't missed any of it.  It sounds like you are doing wonderfully on your fast.

Jeanne, it sounds like you had about as much snow as we did.  Glad you don't have to get out.  I am not aware of drug stores delivering in our area. That is a nice service to folks who shouldn't be getting out.

Hello everyone...  The prodigal is here!!!  Life is so busy with 4 websites to run!!!

But I do try to get in here and read the posts and pray for those requesting prayer.

This is going to be a very busy weekend.  Poor Judy won't be going to the big game but one of our cousins has 6 children and his 19 year old son plays Junior A hockey for a team away up north in Ontario called Eliot Lake!  It's so far north!  Judy has had the privilege to see him play several times in Powassan.  I haven't even met him yet.

Anyway, the family live in Texas.  They've ALL flown up to see Chad play in the All Stars game in Orangeville on Saturday.  He also plays in Oro Medonte (snow ski country) and Thornhill.

The family are touring Niagara Falls this morning having flown into Buffalo yesterday and will arrive in Thornhill to their hotel tonight.

Anyway, Paul arrives tonight, and we'll go to the game in Caledon supper in Orangeville and then home late after the game.

Exciting?  I think so.  It's wonderful to see relatives you've never met--especially ones who love the Lord.

Janet

Happy Friday!

It's still cold here, but yesterday got up past 50!  :)

I have been to Pat's and now my hair looks nice again.  It's wonderful to have a friend who is a hairdresser!  She is one of the Chaplains who resigned from the care home.  The entire chaplain staff resigned, and she really feels bad about it, she loved her job, loves the residents and does so much for them, but they cut the hours so much that they cannot get their work done in the alloted hours.  We are praying that the board will shake things up and change them.

Darrel went to the grocery store and Dollar General while I was at Pat's.  I think he must be hungry!  We needed toilet paper and laundry soap, which we buy from $ General.  I'm more than happy to let him do the shopping.  He enjoys it, and I tend to get 'sticker shock!'   :o

Yesterday I sorted out books.  I am getting rid of probably 150 pounds of them.  Slowly I am reclaiming some SPACE.  Feels good!

Larry, glad you were able to go to coffee.  Those social times are important.  That's more the reason we go to the senior center than is the food.  Yesterday I had a glass of water and visited while the others ate their lunch.  ;)  Today I will do the same, which will be harder because today they are having chili and cinnamon rolls!

Darrel is ready to go, see you later!

Janet

Pat, you and I were typing at the same time, but you were quicker on the post button!

I'm so glad you will get to go to the game, meet cousins, etc. and that Paul will be there as well.  Have a great time!  Judy, sorry  :'( you won't get to go.....

Carol

Pat:  Welcome back!  I am sure you will enjoy the hockey game and meeting with your relatives.  Chad has to be an awesome player to get on that team.  I have a soft spot in my heart for hockey players.

Larry:  What a winter week you have endured.  It must have felt like a lifetime before you get together with the fellows.  Don is leaving this minute for a wood carving group - his first venture.  All tools are provided - it is a city rec department.  I am so hopeful that it will turn out well for him as he enjoys working with wood.  Yes, we enjoy having our good friends and we are so glad to be of a little assistance.

Janet:  Don't look at the prices - just go shop where it is best for you & get what you need.  The price of apples just frosts me since they were so cheap in Washington years ago.  Don't we sound like old-timers when we talk of "before" prices?  How long is this fast?

We took a nice and short hike this morning about a half hour on a loop of city botanic garden - we took our walking sticks just in case of critters but thankfully did not see anything.  The desert has such a variety of cacti and isn't everyone's taste but we find it so interesting and peaceful in many ways.

JudyB

Janet I am staying away from crowds, there are so many bugs around right now, and I don't need to catch one before surgery.

It is a cold day, only -8C at our thermometer, but it feels colder than yesterday was....maybe because I didn't have the heat going before I went out.  The house is cold and taking time to warm up.  Perhaps a hot bath is in order.

I had a pich up arranged for this morning at 7:30 and got up around 7:05.  Looked out the bedroom window and there were lights in my driveway already!  He was 25 minutes early!  I had to run put the dogs out while I got ready.  Whew that was crazy.  I have pain killers from the Dr. and I am to start them today.  That way I will be preventing the intense pain that they have told me to expect.  Also he has said to take 2 Xtra strength tylenol 4 times a day.  That way I can stay away from the nasty effects of the narcotics.  I guess I am unusual.  He seemed surprised that I didn't want to take any narcotics....

John's trip has changed.  The MN part of it has been cut out and somethin or other added.  That means he will be home earlier tomorrow.

I picked up a book today, called "Spiritual Rhythm" by Mark Buchanan.  It is a wonderful book about the seasons in a persons life, not dictated by age but by experience.  He is a Canadian from the west coast.  If you have the opportunity to buy/borrow/or read it take the time to do that.  Be ware though, you may want your own so you can mark in it!

Well I am off.

JudyB

Janet never fear I will get to see Chad the next time he comes to our town.

Pat you and Paul be sure to dress warmly....those arenas are c-c-c-cold

Marilyn

Larry yes Grubby is our outdoor cat. He won't learn to use the indoor litter box  so he stays in the garage at night and has his own box but will only do #2 in his box has to go outside for #1. He adopted us over a year ago now.

Tomorrow Jane and I will be in Florence Oregon at a Women's retreat. I am so looking forward to going. I don't the Evangelist from Ca. He has been to the church there frequently.I love his preaching.

Judy prayer for you and please stay on top of the pain, suffering with severe pain hampers your healing process. That's what the nurses told me before my hand surgery. She told me to take the pain pill before the pain started. I had a mild narcotic that also had Tylenol in it. It was the generic for Vicodan. I can't take codeine.Vicodan has no codeine in it.

Marilyn...."I don't the evangelist from Ca."????  I can usually decipher what people mean, but you stumped me this time!

Carol, I prefer to just let Darrel do the shopping, for groceries anyway.  You must be wonderful hosts, as you seem to have lots of company.

Larry, were you getting cabin fever before you got out?

I smashed my left thumb today.  Was exercising with the group at the Sr. center, using weights, raising arm from beside the chair to overhead position, and when I brought it down, caught my thumb between the weight and the metal edge of the chair.  OWEE!!  Busted it real good, blood spurted.  It felt like getting caught in a car door.  :(  The nurse poured hydrogen peroxide on it, then put antibiotic salve on it and band-aids.  It is still throbbing and I did it at noon.

Carol, I'm doing a 21 day fast:  complete fast for 7 days, then 14 days on the Daniel Fast, which is no meat, no sweets, no bread.  This is winding down day 5, and I'm starting to get a little bit hungry.  ;)

It is minus 8 c. or approx. 10 F  either way it is cold and early in the morning we are to start getting a storm from the west.

There is another storm sewer leak in front of the house next to us, I understand they will be starting that bright and early tomorrow morning.

Pat:  Elliot Lake is a distance to the north but to those that do or have travelled in that direction it does seem far.
Janet:  About your fast I do forget your reason for starting.

Larry:  It is a good feeling to know you are not locked in so to speak.

I had made a phone to my aunt I must admit it had been several days, she informed me that she had a couple of issues and yes she chose to phone a neighbor about one and the other just plain refused to phone me, it is sure upsetting when someone can be so stubborn, independent and head strong. If she can called I could have done the clean up, oh well her loss it is good to be the way she is, but on the other hand she has feelings in only her thumb and one finger, frustrating on my part.
If she had a clue that I was saying this she would be even more headstrong - she does not have a computer.

Now to watch some T.V.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Ruth, I am fasting for spiritual reasons.

Sorry your aunt is being stubborn.  That's good up to a point, then gets frustrating.

Ruth I'm sorry I am aware of your aunt's stubbornness but the way you described it made me giggle.

The Doctor gve me something new that I am to start now.  Then tomorrow the tylenol.   Yes Marilyn I will stay on top  of it.

Janet that would hurt.  Would you be able to bare some ice on it to stop the throbbing?  It might help.  Perhaps use frozen peas or corn.

I tried to take a picture of the snow the way it was sparkling with the sun on it.  It didn't turn out but it was beautiful....like diamonds sparkling in a bed of white.

Marilyn

Janet I goofed up good didn't I? That is supposed to read I know the Evangelist from California.

I think I told you last week that Willa was very sick well today she had surgery, here is the report from her family.
"Willa will be in the hospital for a few days. When they got in there they found Gangrene  and thousands of stones so the gall bladder was too big  to take out laproscopically (sp) They said the Gangrene was because they made her wait so long for the surgery. So please keep Willa in prayer."

Ugh, Marilyn!  That sounds so much like what Beth went through.  Poor Willa, what an ordeal for an elderly lady to go through.  I will pray for her.

I'm going to the library to scrapbook today.  Thumb has stopped throbbing, but doesn't like to be touched, so I will see how it goes.  Day 6 of my fast--this and tomorrow to go!  I am amazed that I haven't really felt very hungry at all.  Has to be the Lord's doing.
