Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

I called the doctor office.  Talked to the nurse who then talked to the doctor and called me back.  After my 12th trip to the bathroom, the nurse called back.  The doctor said that nausea/vomiting is not a side effect of Diovan so she thinks I have a bug from something or somewhere.  She phone in a med for nausea.  Ivalou went and picked up the script and some Gatorade.  Even before taking the first pill, I was feeling better...just exhausted.  I don't think it was a bug.  I think it was the Diovan.  So I am not to take anything for my BP until next Wednesday.  By then if the coughing is gone, I will know that the Lysinopril was causing that.  When I take the Diovan and if I get sick, then I know it was the Diovan that caused the sickness.  Then I am back to zero.  If I don't get sick, then I continue with the Diovan.

I have always taken my meds and within 10 minutes I eat my breakfast and have had no problems with that at all.  I have a DIL that thinks I should stop all my meds and go to a dietician and start eating right.  That is too much of a risk for me to even think about that.  Vitamins and minerals are not regulated and I am too cheap to pay for organic foods that has whatever for fertilization.  Nope, going to stick with doctors and such.  Now before anyone gets on my riot act, I praise your own opinions but that just happens to be my opinion.

Ivalou's daughter from Ohio is at her house.  I took my coffee cup with me to mail a letter and to go visit with them but Teresa's car was gone so they must have went out for breakfast and shopping somewhere.

I need to go to the P.O. to get a book of stamps.  Out!

I hadn't heard from Kitty for a few days.  They were in St. Louis with their grandson, Alex.  Kitty called me last evening and she was sitting on her front porch.  Why?  There is a groundhog in their house.  When they got home Sunday, they noticed one bedroom had huge plants knocked over and pictures awry.  They thought it was their elderly cat that went berserk!  Kitty left for Ohio Monday and back Tuesday night and this time the bay window in the living room had all the pictures knocked over plus the plants in the bedroom and their security system wire chewed in two and gnawing on the window sill.  Still thought it was the cat.  But yesterday Kitty was cleaning and saw the varmint....a groundhog.  She thinks it is a baby but still a groundhog.  They have a habit of leaving a door open so the three cats and come and go.  Well, this time, it was a groundhog that came in.  Once a little snake came in... :-\  I haven't heard if the groundhog found it's way out or not.  Kitty could never harm it.  She captures spiders and returns them to the outdoors!!

Enough prattle for today!!

Hi everyone.  Am sitting here eating lunch and in reviewing when I last posted I see I didn't even visit here yesterday.  Talk about time going by quickly.  Nothing new here.  I have nothing on the schedule until this evening.  Pat went to the Senior Center this morning and plans on stopping at Wal-Mart on her way back to get a few items.

Etta Sue, you are certainly correct to make your own decisions regarding your health.  Glad you are feeling better.  I have always been fortunate that medicines have not generally bothered me with a couple of exceptions that caused an allergic reaction.

Janet, it looks like Abby is establishing a work ethic at a very early age.  I sure hope Darrell sister can found what her problem is.  If she has had "loose joints" all her life why is she now just passing out like she is?

Marilyn, glad your new job is going well and congrats on your health program results, very good.

Hi Gord and "foggy" Al.

Jeannine, I second the other comments on how happy we are that you were able to bring Michael home.  I know you have your hands full.

Karmat, good to read the Kristi is feeling better.  The little ones get very sick but are able to bounce back quickly if otherwise healthy.

JudyB, from the Canadian ice roads programs I saw there was no tolerance for speeding or any other infraction on the ice roads.  Glad that John is happy with what he is doing now.  I didn't see any women shown in the documentaries.

Kathleen, it sounds like your business is going well and good luck on your new business venture.

Samantha , it is difficult to find a good housekeeper.  We do have a good one except she moves things around and doesn't put them back where she found them.  My wife gets very frustrated sometimes.  Hope you find another housekeeper soon.

Etta Sue~I've heard it said "Opinions are like noses -- everyone has one!"  Yours is good for you and mine is good for me and that's just how it should be!   :D

Kitty has a groundhog in her house?    :o  I don't even know what one looks like, for real.  How big is this animal?  Sounds like it's pretty good size to be knocking large plants and pictures over and gnawing on the woodwork!  I really do believe I would be sitting out on the porch too!!

Hey there to all y'all otherns ... I really have been keeping up with the conversations here, just had to make that comment to Etta Sue so ... came out of my corner for a sec.

Hey, Y'all.

Etta Sue, nobody but you should make your decisions (IMO).  Glad you are feeling somewhat better now, and hope you get those meds sorted out.  I had a BP med some years ago that caused me to cough, dry, frustrating little cough, after I lay down.  I read about the problem in The Reader's Digest ( :)) asked the doctor about it, he said yes, it could be the med; got on a different one and the problem went away.

Another painful day for me.  Glad I'm seeing the doctor tomorrow who will decide what to do.

Etta Sue - diet is of course very important - you are what you eat!  However, changes should be made carefully and slowly, and prescribed meds shouldn't be ignored.  However, these days most MDs are much more up on healthy diets than in earlier times, and you could tell him/her just what you intend to do, and they'll either say ok or no no.  God bless your decisions.

Etta Sue I would not advise you to stop all your meds, but seeing a dietician and start eating right would not be a bad idea. Or start eating right without seeing a dietician either way is a good thing. You were doing the South Beach diet for awhile I remember that. Cutting the carbs and eating more protein is good too. however that is only my HMO. Like Jane said Everyone has one.

You say organic is too expensive, I say your health is worth the expense. You are only feeding yourself. If I can eat organic on my small income certainly you can too. Even doctors recommend vitamins.

it is still foggy here, will the sun ever come out again. Don't answer that, of course it will. My patient had a rough night  so she went back to bed when I got there this morning and slept until lunch time. Her daughter didn't work today and she slept too.  I read and knitted and read some more.

Tomorrow afternoon I am going to the Healing Rooms at the Baptist church over by the University, not the one Al goes to. I am going to saturate myself in the presence of the Lord then go to prayer meeting at my own church.

Back to my sewing now.
More tomorrow.

Hi everyone.  I came in and read the messages before retiring for the night and now just waiting until time to go to the senior center for Friday's Men's Coffee.  Don't have much on my schedule today.  I may try to get a haircut and make some business cards with our new telephone number on it.

Hope this is a great day for everyone.

YEAH it's FRIDAY!  I've always liked Fridays.  I think it is from being in the school system for so long . . .

Kristi is on the mend.  she has gone from being energy-less, to grouchy, to demanding.  Hopefullly, as she continues to mend, she gets a bit more patience, not that she has ever had a lot.

Take care all!

Etta Sue

Larry ~ I missed you a couple of days ago even though I wasn't feeling well.  I am much better today...in fact, a few minutes after taking the 'stop the nausea' medicine.  But I still think it was the Diovan...I will know next Wednesday if I get sick again.

Jane ~ I know there are several people...around here...on the net...everywhere...that doesn't believe or want to take prescription drugs and rely on herbs, organic foods, vitamins and minerals but that isn't for me.  My own DIL says stop the meds.  Eat right and take blah, blah, blah.  I don't eat as much as I used to eat but I try to get each of the food groups into my diet in a given day.

Janet ~ The doctor thinks that it is the Lysinopril with a diuretic that was causing my tickle/cough/mucous.  I do seem have less tickle/cough/mucous in three days of not taking the Lysinopril.  She said one out 20 gets that with Lysinopril.  Lucky me!  And it would co-inside with throat surgery, right? I sure hope your pain goes away soon.

Al ~ I am realizing that the more meds you take, the more you are likely to have side effects.  Ten years ago I was taking one script...now 5 scripts....make me wonder what another ten years will be.

Marilyn ~ I know my health is more important than expenses but you haven't had my expenses this year for your health.  I imagine that I have spent over $3000 for my health out of my pocket and it is only July.  I got a bill from the Surgery Center yesterday...my part $669.  My one fear is out-living my money.  At this rate, I will be doing that before I am 70!!  I know I need to eat more protein.  I have cut out sweets and have lost 10lbs.  I still have my carbs but in moderation.  I know what good eating is and try my best to do so.  I will have to concentrate more on what goes in my mouth!

JudyB
~ Hope you didn't get the bug that my doctor thought I got but I don't think mine was a bug.  Terrible feeling, isn't it?

Gord
~ Sounds like a nice weekend outing for you and your young gentleman.  With good friends even 6 to 7 hours drives aren't bad.

Karma ~ Sounds like Kristi is on the up.  When they get demanding, then they are getting better!  And even being retired, I still like Fridays!!!  Stems from working Monday thru Fridays.

p.s. The cat above is not my own opinion!!

Pat

Hi Everyone!

I've had one of the busiest weeks ever!

I've been to Hamilton twice with my ill friend and to many labs here in Guelph with her and on Tuesday, I went to meet a friend and we went hiking in Tottenham.

Today I'm resting!

Jeannine, what wonderful news of Michael!  I've been praying for him as have a few friends here in Guelph so I'll let them know the news.

Hello to the rest of you.  Great to see the posts!

Janet

Etta Sue (and anyone else interested)---I'm home from the doctor, and have already been pre-admitted to the Liberal, Kansas hospital to have both carpal tunnel surgery and Guyon's Canal Surgery on Monday, August 6th.  Dr. Rane said I DO have Carpal Tunnel and the reason it didn't show up is because of the cortisone shot she put in my hand.  I think it has worn off now, and boy, is my hand/fingers/arm hurting now!!

Hello to everyone, and I will be back when I feel better.
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Jane Walker

Ok, Janet ... You can count on me to keep you and your situation covered in prayer.  From the information supplied by Marilyn the other day, I guess Carpal Tunnel and Guyon's canal are on opposite sides of the wrist/arm ... looks like you got a double dose all to oncet!     :(   No wonder you have been in such pain with that arm.  They are both in the same wrist, right?  Yeah, RIGHT ... you will be out of commision as far as typing goes unless you can work wonders with your left hand!    :-\  Gonna give it a try?
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Janet, I'm so sorry.  The lady next door to me had hers done about 4 weeks ago.

I'll be thinking of you and praying for you.

God bless and keep and heal you, Janet.  Father, I pray You'll guide the doctors through this and make what they do extremely effective for Janet's good through our Lord Jesus.

Janet

Thanks, Jane.  Yes, both in my right (PAINTING) ARM/HAND!  :'(  Thanks so much for your prayers.  I guess I can "hunt and peck" with only my left hand, anyway, will try it.  The stitches won't come out for about 10 days.

Thanks, Pat.  Did she have BOTH conditions, too?  I had never even heard of the Guyon's Canal thing before.

Thanks, Al, for your prayers.  God bless all of you.
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Pat

I don't know at all, Janet.  I hadn't heard of that other condition either till you told us about it.

I'm so sorry and wish I were closer.  But you already know that.

Janet:  Two irritating problems with your right hand.  I wonder how long it will take for this to heal.  It has to be maddening.  Don will go to his cardiologist next week and get results of the neuclear (sp) test.  He took off this bandage and unfortunately bled on the sheets but not too much, thankfully.

At quilting today, discussion was on everything, including the death of one gal's spouse just this springtime with a lung problem and the fact that one gal with us had the same diagnosis.  Lung problems are a real fright when you live in higher altitude.

Carol

Pat

Hi Carol...  That's sad about the gal at your quilting class.  So sad.

Janet I will be praying for you too.

Hi Carol Now refresh my memory, what is it with Don that he has a bandage?

I have sure had some good prayer experiences this week. tomorrow is our last night of prayer meetings before we do our fast.  I also have a Bridal shower to go to tomorrow. I bought the bride a George Foreman Grill.

Bed time for me

A tad cooler this morning and it is refreshing - thankful for the sun and clouds.

Pat:  Just last year we lost a dear lady to breast cancer.  I am afraid as we are all aging that there is always some medical gremlin lurking in the corner.  Too many have lost husbands and one of the husbands has Alzheimer's so she is our leader & teacher & has difficulty getting away from the house.  How is that darling puppy?  Not a puppy anymore?  What a cutie.

Marilyn:  Don had dye injected into his chest & he had both a treadmill test and the scan.  Will know results this week when he sees his cardiologist & hopes for a good result.  We know that his lungs are scarred - from smoking years ago and later having several bouts of severe pnumonia.  We both got a bacteria pnuemonia when we volunteered at a church for one month in Sitka  - about 8 years ago.  He took a month off work.  So sick, we barely made it back to recuperate & I mean, just sat in our chairs & snoozed & called no one.  Then, he caught it again & it really damaged his lungs.  There is nothing they can do.  Not on any oxygen yet but we do live in altitude and he is going fishing next weekend at 9,500 ft. and more.  He will walk slowly.

Marilyn:  I am so happy for this new but short job for you.  It sounds so peaceful - you deserve it gal!

Thinking of all today.  I don't always mention everyone but really do pause and think of you.

Carol

We had a little problem loading the page but I think it's ok now.

Have a great Saturday!

HI PAT

Janet, I truly wished I lived closer so that I could help you out with "things" while you recuperate.  But, I will be praying that the surgery goes well and that you have a full and speedy recovery!

Marilyn, I couldn't help but wonder if your good prayer experiences had anything to do with being obedient and spending less time on line.  I'm NOT trying to get you to stay offline, by any means.  I like reading your posts. :)

Carol, I hope Don gets a good report.  I had never thought about higher altitudes effecting lung patients, but it definitely makes sense.

Etta, Hope you are feeling better today.

Did you all hear about the Castleberry Food Recall?  You can read about it here:
http://www.castleberrys.com/news_productrecall.asp

We've got a family reunion to go to this afternoon, then this evening, we are going out with some of Bernard's friends from a Virtual Airline he is a member of.  (They all do Flight Sim, and are "pilots" in an online airline).  Hope ya'll have a wonderful Saturday.

Pat

My goodness, Karmat!  That's some recall and I see that some of the products are here in Canada.
