JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

THE MASTER'S TOUCH

Who of us has not been thrilled and awed as we gaze upon the beauty of a flower garden with its myriad f colors, and the fragrance of the blossoms as their perfume is wafter to our nostrils?  The only problem is that it does not last.  The flowers fade, the petals fall and the autumn breezes dry out the withered blossoms and they are soon gone.  But wait, are they really gone?  God, the Master Artist, has so designed the flowers that out of death comes life.  The rosebush that looks dead will know another springtime, and out of death will come life.  The same is true as the Master Designer touches with divine power the cold and pulseless heart of the buried atom, causing it to burst forth into new life, and out of the little acorn can come a mighty oak tree.

If matter, mute and inanimate, though changed by the forces of nature into a multitude of forms, can never die, will man's imperial spirit suffer annihilation?  Does man simply make a brief visit, like a royal guest, to this house of clay, and then fade into nothingness?  No, not at all.  We can be just as sure that there is another life, as we are that we live today.

In some of the Egyptian tombs uncovered recently, there were found grains of wheat that had been there for over 3000 years.  Yet this wheat, when planted and watered, sprang forth into new life.  There is an unbroken chain of life that connects the earliest grain of wheat with the one which we now sow and reap.  God has placed something within this grain of wheat, which enables it, when warmed by the sunshine and nurtured by the rain, to discard its old body, and build out of the earth and air a new body so much like the old one that we cannot tell the difference.  So I can be assured that my God will clothe my eternal soul with a new body, not unlike the old, but suited for its new and eternal existence, after this present body has crumpled into the dust from whence He made it.

Hi everyone.  It looks like I am first this morning but wanted to get here as have a busy day planned and when we get home this afternoon I plan on trying to put my laptop back into a Windows XP configuration.  I decided there were too many differences between Linux and Windows and all my software is for Windows.  I like having both of the computer on the same page, so to speak.

Pat and Janet, that is a good devotional for this week.  Thanks for posting it for Janet and it was very thoughtful of her to prepare it before going away.

I went to bed early last night as was tired.  Tried to read but soon found I needed to turn off the light and just go to sleep.  Feel more rested this morning.

Al, that sounds like a nice way to make the trip.  Marriott Hotels are always a nice place to stay.  I am sure your granddaughter will be excited to have you share her special day when she graduates.

Hope everyone will have a nice week.

Etta Sue

Janet and Pat ~ Thank you for the devotion.  As I was reading my devotions this morning, I noticed the cornfield across the road from me.  Yesterday you saw more dirt than corn.  We had a wonderful soaking rain last evening.  Today you see more corn than dirt.  I know that corn grew six inches over night!  All it needed was a soaking rain to come to life again.

Samantha ~ I am reading the 'Brides of Lancaster County', a four-book series, by Wanda E Brunstetter.  Each book is titled 1) A Merry Heart, 20 Looking for a Miracle, 3) Plain and Fancy and 4) The Hope Chest.  She has a series of three called 'Daughter's of Lancaster County also.  Hope you can find some in your book stores or better in your library.  They are page turners.  We have several Amish colonies all over Indiana, north and south, but none real close to me.  We have German Baptists here.  They dress about the same, but do have electricity.  No phones unless it is for business.  No computers unless it is for business.  I went to a Pampered Chef party and the demonstrator was German Baptist.  She asked for us to put on our sheets what we wanted and she would do the rest and promptly got her laptop out!  I was really surprised but it was for business.

Today I am taking Judy B, my classmate, to Noblesville Hospital for her to get an injection in her back.  Actually she is driving but if she is unable to drive back, I will drive her car.

I maybe should mow but won't until this evening after taking Judy.

Am praying Etta Sue

This has been a busy week.  we were away for Friday and Saturday, on Saturday we met up with friends in Orillia.  They were our maid of honour and best man in our wedding, and we had the same honour in theirs.  What a great time of renewing friendship.

I have a BIG day ahead of me, need to go into North Bay tonight for Cadets and Small Group.

Wednesday we have 72 chicks coming.  I still have to get things ready for that.

Bye for now, am praying for the needs here.

Pat

Hi Everyone...

It rained all night and everything is really green.

I have to go to the mall to see about some little gifts for Ian to take to Northern Ireland.  He leaves on Wed. for only 6 days but is visiting our friends in Ballyclare and Lisburn and he's going to fish in the Six Mile Water river that his dad fished in over the years.

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Pat

Well, I'm back from the mall and couldn't find anything suitable for Ian to take to Northern Ireland on Wed.  So he'll have to do some shopping for himself!

How are the rest of you?  Have you taken a photo today?

Marilyn

All is well here. It is raining and sort of sultry. I had to make a trip to Eureka this afternoon to Michaels to get some mats for my photos that will be at the fair, buy some groceries at Winco, and meet a lady to pick up some of my product that she had.

I have to write a letter to my current insurance company to disenroll. I called and they said I had to write a letter.

I graduated up to 1600 calories today, from 1200. So far I have lost 5 lbs as of today. I hope my knees will be happier wilth less weight to support.

Please pray for my friend Kitty in Lucerne valley. She has one lung that is completely filled up and is in severe pain. There are other factors and God knows what they are. Just pray for her  OK?

Sorry that I have not responded to you all.

Oh, that's awful.  Fluid in the lung is sure terrible.  I remember Jack's lungs filled up once after a test and he said to me, "Pat, I'm drowning!"  They had to deal with it very quickly.

Thanks Janet.  What lovely thoughts.

Pat:  I apologize for putting in five pictures instead of the four.  Did  not read until I had already posted - per usual.  What a nice memory trip for Ian to go and fish in the same river as his father.  Wish you could have gone too.

Missed two hours of sleep last night.  From aways, I could hear the train whistle which I don't hear if sleeping every night.  Am thankful that we don't live too close to the tracks.

Larry:  Don't you think that as our country keeps aging as they say it is, that these huge box stores like Lowes & Home Depot will be getting fewer customers?  I know that there are times we just don't want to walk all the concrete.  Sometimes, we just go to a little Ace Hardware.

I was nice as pie yesterday when the gal next door came over & chatted only because her husband was in her talking with us.  What a shockaroo.  She asked to see our kitchen floor & how we had painted things - this is the woman who has not said ten words to us in over ten years and she lives next door - plus her husband & Don are very friendly.  She is 25 years younger than him & leads him around like you would never believe & I happened to mention that we had been to church and all the fun things going on with the groups at church......she actually stayed & chatted.  Bowl me over.  Today, Don is helping them with a problem in their kitchen.  You never know, things may change.

Grandson who is the hockey player did not make the AAA team this time.  He just did not make the big effort and this has to be his decision - he will still play on a community team but the pressure isn't so much on our daughter either for driving from north of Denver to Colorado Springs 5 X weekly.  It was insane to say the least.  He will be 12.

My prayers for good health for all.  Carol

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

Well, I'm in late this evening for a GOOD reason ... it was my "Mothers Day" dinner tonight with the kids who drove up from Atlanta. They are staying at a motel very near where my daughter in law's client has their office. They told me to call when I got there.

So I called and they said they'd be right down. I was sitting in my little white truck, and I caught a bit of movement out of the corner of my eye. Here came 2 grinning gals (one 12, and one 3), running with eyes shining and arms wide open to smother me with hugs and kisses.

Oh, what a nice memory I'll have!

Then, after dinner, we stopped by Target and the girls wanted "Grandma" to drive her electric shopping cart with them. Of course, we went straight to the toy department, and now I have some GREAT ideas for gifts.  ^-^

I'm now completely spoiled by them (and charmed, as well)!

What a lovely evening you had, Ruth Ann.  I'm so happy for you.

Well, it's 11:30 pm here in Canada where I am and I'm so tired.   I must get to my bed.

Talk to you tomorrow.

Oh, I have to take Lauren, my cat, to the vet at 8 am.  She's has blood in her urine.  I sure hope it's nothing too serious.  She's not showing any sickness at all and is as boysterous as ever.

Kitty called me last evening to see if I would meet her somewhere for a coke and to talk.  So we met at Subway in Lapel.  She is so stressed.  Lapel has a Home Tour each year and Kitty and Bob's home is on the tour.  She is painting, cleaning carpet, stenciling, replacing on the inside and outside she is planting, moving plants, trimming shrubs and getting new decorations.  And the Home Tour isn't until the 24th!  Now her daughter in Ohio...well, Kitty has been going over there every week to spend Monday night so she can watch Katie on Tuesday's because the sitter they have for Katie doesn't sit on Tuesday so Kitty drives two hours there and back two hours each week.  Now her daughter is to have carpel tunnel surgery and wants Kitty to come the night of the Home Tour and stay a MONTH!  I just don't know why this girl thinks her mother can drop everything and come to her at her beck and call.  And this girl is in her mid-30's!  Kitty has doctor appointments, and other appointments that she feels needs to be done but her daughter is insisting that she will need help.  Now sometimes Kitty goes there on Monday evening and Julie doesn't even say, 'How was your drive?'  or 'I am so glad to see you.'  She has just given her Katie and turned her back and not said a word to Kitty all evening!  I sure couldn't handle that.  I know, I am venting but I don't like to see people being taken advantage of.  And I feel that is what is happening to Kitty.

Well, I was going to mow today.  The weather report said no more rain until Thursday evening.  Well, I woke up to rain, went to the bank in the rain, ate breakfast in Lapel while it was raining but right now it is bright and sunny.  But they are saying possible showers this afternoon!  Need to mow before going to Ohio Thursday.

Looking at the web, I see the 73-year old lady still hasn't been found.  And my mistake but it is the daughter that attends my church.

Marilyn

Good Morning. Pat I have been in the  Pick of the album forum and chose  another album for y-all. Thanks Pat for posting my owl.  I have also posted a couple of  new photos on my blog. One that you have already seen but I would like to have some comments on my blog for all ya-all.

Etta Sue When you got DSL did you have an offer you couldn't refuse for some free months? Attis offering 3 months free to switch from cable to DSL I am seriously considering it, now that Suddenlink has raised the prices again. Did you have to have a dedicated line phone installed other than you regular phone line???

I saw that Alma dropped into the shout box to say hello, by the way Alma how is Audra we need an update?

It looks like the sun is trying to peek out from around the rain clouds this morning.  If it isn't raining this afternoon I will take the dogs out for their walks.

I think Janet is busy with her painting class.

Hi Carol So you are back home now I was looking at your album in the gallery, there were photos there I hadn't seen before.

Well I guess it is my turn to vent.   Yesterday I went to the local W_ _ M_ _ _ _.    the store is being given a new inside turn -a- round first of all it has been made much much larger they now call it a super store .  The grocery section is to be huge I suggested we will now need assistance to get around.  The clerks comment was that we the town needs a larger store, she was really meaning parking outside, sorry I said I will still go to there local small grocery store oh that is tooo small not enough parking, well I have never had trouble with the parking you wait perhaps 2 minutes and something opens up  and yes this is a busy store.

I then went to Giant Tiger and it is being made larger as well still under reno,    Then I went to Winners and it was a welcome site neat & tidy.

Now I am off my vent wagon as I now head out the door for work .

Had some spare time (for once) and thot I'd do more than check in.  Right now I am between reunion committees and their meetings.

I am on the All Class Reunion for our school which holds a reunion annually.  One of the neat things is finding out by what people write that they, like me, have become christiains.  I told one person we ought to have a table just for christians....but that ain't the way we're supposed to be....separate from the world.

Am also working on our 50th reunion for my graduating year which will happen 2008.  Wow 50 years already.

Been married for nearly 47 years and a christian for almost 35

Hi everyone.  Just a quick note to let you know that our daughter is ok.  They did another heart cath this afternoon and found a blockage in front of her previous stent.  They were able to put in another stent and she seems to be doing fine.  We left the hospital about 7 pm and her color was good and she had been up.  She will go home tomorrow and we will go down and take her back to her apartment.  Needless to say we are greatly relieved as there doesn't seem to be any major damage from the heart attack she had last evening.

Time for bed as neither Pat nor I got much sleep last night.

Pat

Oh, Larry, that is such good news.  I'm so happy for you both and for your daughter.

Thanks for sharing and please sleep well, bro!

Nita

Larry, that's good news! :)  Thank you, Lord.

All this venting...haha.  Etta Sue, I hate to see things that seem unfair, or just plan old thoughtlessness.  I can understand your concerns about how your friend is treated by her daughter.

And I SURE can understand the impatience with big super stores.  I won't go there.  Very seldom do I go to Walmart.  It's just too big and walking from one end to the other can wear me out.   I'd rather pay a little more and shop in smaller stores.  I think age has something to do with that.  My daughter loves Walmart.

Pat, and Janet, I loved the devotional.

I've been very lazy today.  I washed dishes, washed a load of clothes, made my bed and that's about it.  I took a delicious afternoon nap and woke up at 6, so guess I'll be up tonight now. :)  It was worth it.  The warm sun was shining in on the bed and I just nodded right off.

Today was sunny again, after yesterday's rain.  I sat out again this morning :coffee: and counted my blessings.

I'll go look at the gallery now and see who's been posting pics.  Nita

Marilyn ~ Thanks to Jerry I didn't have to have new wiring in my house for phone lines.  The phone jack beside the computer is a double jack and both right from the box outside.  That way when I was dial up, Jerry and I could both be online at the same time.  But I don't have two separate numbers.  I have a modem on my computer.  And filters on my five phones (thanks to Jerry again).  And I didn't get any free months.  I have to have a package of extras on my phone to have DSL through the phone company.  If not, it would be $10 more for DSL.  I definely like Caller ID which was one so with the package I have Call Forwarding, Caller ID and something else.  Must not use the something else or I would remember.   I could have gotten DSL with my satellite dish but Tony had that and everytime it stormed, he didn't have internet!  No problem with the phone line.

Nita ~ Kitty has diabetis and other health problems.  She has to wear special shoes all the time...can't go barefoot and kind of walks like Frankenstein.  Her husband, Bob, had a stroke two years ago...thank God he is fine today.  But their daughter forgets that they are in their 60's and have a life of their own.  Bob is not one to help Kitty with the house.  Can you imagine what that house would look like after a month and three cats in the house?

Well, today is packing day.  Not much to pack but will be gone until Saturday evening.  I think I will be online in the morning but not again until Saturday evening.  Ivalou and I are going to her daughter's in Ohio.  Three granddaughters are in a Dance Recital Friday night.  Erik, the grandson, pitches on his high school baseball team and has an away game tomorrow night and a double-header Saturday.  He pitched a game last week and his team won 10 to nothing.  They call the games when one team gets ahead 10 points.  So it will be a fun weekend.  And we will get to see little Adrian, born Feb 22!

OK I am going to try this again.  I have posted 3 times an they all went to cyberspace.  I wonder where the lost posts in cyberspace are  :ticked:

I have been scarce her because of computer problems.  Apparently my "ram is dying".  I don't understand that or why it happens.  Larry can you explain this?  Anyway I have to buy more ram, or get a new computer.  It may be time for the new computer.

I have continued to pray for the needs here, God has known what they are.   There is so much sadness in the world.  It would be really depressing if we didn't have hope.  He is our hope and that is enough.

We have had a lot of rain over the last couple of days, I went to the basement and found out that we are flooded and the sump pump isn't working.  It is humming but not pumping.  John has a job ahead of him to fix it.  As a result the area for the chicks has needed to be changed.  I have put them in the school room, and here we are listening to their continuous peeping.  A real distraction for the girls getting work done!   :ticked:

Well that is all folks.  I am and will continue to pray.
JudyB

Pat

Hi folks...

Been away all day.  My friend needed a ride home from Bramalea so off I went to pick her and her mother up and we just got home.  We came home on back roads and it was certainly a lovely drive.

How old are the chicks, Judy.  I have such memories of chicks!

Well, off to make some supper and then I have minutes to type for our neighbourhood group.  I think I'll quit that though.

Hello all!  I started a post yesterday, and don't seem to have finished it. :)  We are getting ready to go to church.  My pastor graduates from the Bible college this coming Friday night so we are having a surprise celebration for him.

Everything is pluggin' along here.  Bernard went back to work this week.  half days for now, and then will start increasing the time.  his bosses have been SUPER good to him during all of this.  He missed almost two months of work, but because they worked with him, he still has his vacation time for family time later in the year.

Take care!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

This has been a full day and I have choir this evening.  I went to Bible Study this morning and then about 1:30 we headed downtown to pick up our daughter from the hospital and take her back to her apartment.  She seems to be feeling ok, although very tired which is understandable since she suffered a heart attack a couple of night ago.  Fortunately there doesn't seem to be major damage from it.  Probably a good thing she went to the ER when she did.

JudyB, not really sure what "ram dying" really means as have never experienced that.  It is probably that you don't really have enough memory for all that you are trying to do on the computer.  I did a Google search on that term and really didn't see anything.  Memory can fail, although it is rare.  Sorry to read about your flood basement.

Pat, once again you are helping someone.  That is such a nice thing to do and I am sure it is appreciated.

Etta Sue, enjoy your trip.  It sounds like you are really looking forward to it.

Nita, we all need some decompressing days where we concentrate on resting.  Glad you could do that.

Karmat, glad to see that Bernard was up to going back to work this week.  In a few days he will regain his strength.  That is nice of you to have the surprise celebration.

I have felt much better today.  Guess the pressure is off and I don't seem to function very well under pressure anymore.  Also having to drive in downtown Atlanta traffic is never fun.  Coming home this afternoon we went down on the Internet but after dropping our daughter off we stayed off it is as have some good surface streets.

Ruth Ann, hope you have had a nice day.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

It was a good day, but a long one. I was thankful, though, that when someone got a bit "pushy" I was able to rationally explain why there is only "so much" of me to go around, and then someone must wait a bit.

That's good news, Karma. Give Nards our best. Half days seem so short. When I was on half days after my first hand surgery, it seemed no longer than I would delve deeply into something until it was time to leave for the day.

Larry, I'm so sorry your daughter's heart is giving her so much trouble. Will continue praying.

Etta Sue, enjoy your trip.

Pat, the back roads do make for lovely driving, especially in the springtime. Thank you for being so good to others.

Oh, yes - about RAM. That's Random Access Memory, if "memory" serves me correctly tonight. I wonder, Judy, do you remember to go to the top of Internet Explorer and choose Tools/Internet Options/ and when you see the next dialog box come up, look for "Temporary Internet Files" about midways down, and click on "delete files". That clears up any old ".TMP" files that are in your temporary folder. Sometimes that frees up a lot of both space and seems to make a computer's memory work a bit better.

Also, I understand you can purchase extra memory, but I'm not certain which type of memory it upgrades. I'm certainly not a "techie."

I surely wish I could respond to everyone. But still need to rest my left hand. So much go for the evening.

Y'all have a good rest of the day.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Larry Hanna

JudyB and Ruth Ann, just an explanatory note.  RAM is, as you say Ruth Ann, Random Access Memory and is the memory used when we load and use programs.  The hard disk or other forms of disk storage, such as external drives, is where the temporary internet and other saved files are placed.  When we turn off the computer it clears the RAM but leaves things along on the hard disk.  Computers can also use "virtual memory" which is where Windows sets aside a portion of the  hard disk to use as extended RAM.  The computer reads slower to that type of memory but this is not something we see other than perhaps in slowed performance.

It looks like I am first to post today and since I was just here posting last evening I don't have much to say other than it is going to be in the 90s here today and little chance for rain.  My calendar is clear all day and so will have some time to myself to catch up on some things.

I basically completed putting my laptop back in tiptop shape.  I can think of only a couple of other programs I will load on it.  It is now running much faster than it has for quite awhile so guess it was ultimately good that I had to restore it to factory condition and start over with it.  It probably took me about 6 hours to do it.

We had a nice choir practice last evening.  Two of our men have returned from overseas, one on an extended tour of Croatia and the other from working for several weeks in England.  Also one of our women, who has been ill for sometime, was able to return.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Etta Sue

I am all ready to go out the door and head for Ohio.  I may be meeting a lady that is in SeniorNet.  Actually I never heard of her before but she asked me in 'Indiana' when I was coming back to Dayton.  So we have emailed a few times.  If we can make connections, we will meet at Panera Bread tonight.

I love dance recitals.  The first two or three dances are groups of little girls, age 4 and 5, with their frilly, ruffly, sparkely dresses tap dancing or in their tutus dancing ballet.  No two of them are doing the same thing!  But they are are trying!  Some of the students have been dancing for 20 years.  Sorry to say but if they tried out for 'So You Think You Can Dance' they wouldn't make it!

Off I go to see if I can do more on the pc before leaving.
