Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Good Morning; I have just had a big breakfast of Veggie breakfast patty, 2 slices of turkey bacon, equivalent of a two egg omelet with onions and bell pepper and sour cream on top. It is getting hard for me to eat the amounts to get the calories up to 1600 per day and protein up to 180 grams. The dinner at the Senior Center today is not something I want to eat, so I am taking my own lunch. Of two  Essentials (a meal in two 3.5 oz bottles, 210 calories) and 2 string cheese.

Please pray for Ruth (my client) her appetite is waning and I have her on two Boost drinks per day which I  practically have to force her to drink. Yesterday I put some in her tea and she didn't know the difference.  She weighed 163 4 years ago and is no down to 126.  Two weeks ago she ate everything I put in front of her, this week she doesn't want to eat much.

I am doing some more sewing for the church. This time making  white wall hanging for the youth room. they hang from ceiling to floor and cover one whole wall. they are made from white Chintz so they will reflect according to the youth pastor.

Marilyn I admire your spunk eating the way you are, but is seems to me that it is all manufactured food and nothing "real".    I do so enjoy garden fresh veggies and grain fed meat, whether beef, chicken or turkey.  I can get all these here where we live.

Has anyone heard of the 100 mile diet?  THere is a book out about it.  You can only ear what is produced within a 100 mile radius of your home.  That gives us a lot of variety as we have all our vegetables, wild and home grown fruits, beef, poultry wild game, and fish.  We would have to use maple syrup and honey instead of sugar.  There are plenty of grain products we can buy.  We would miss out on the citrus fruits, and other foods, but these nutrients can be found in other foods as well.  The purpose of this diet is to go back to basics and to stop buying foods from overseas.  If more would do this it would give the local farmers a better income, as well as cut the burning of fossil fuels.

I wish I had a film in my camera.  Our Cimi is sitting by the babychicks bed watching them making sure they are all ok!  If one of the other dogs come into the room, she growls at them.  Quite the protector.  She is resting her chin on the bed. We got these chicks yesterday, at a day old.  We lost one over night, but that is not too bad, we had 6 extra put into the lot.

It is still quite cool here in the north, sweaters and warm pants are the dress of the day.  I am looking forward to the warm weather again.

I am praying for all the needs here on CP and know God does know what is going on in your life, He cares and answers.

Bye for now

Karma:  Sending good wishes to Nards as he returns to work - strength.

JudyB:  on the 100 miles diet, we would have to go back to shooting buffalo and wildlife - hops are produced in this area for beer, so some other grains and some veggie gardens but not enough to take care of all the people who keep moving here.  It is much more difficult to fish for trout than other fish so that would be iffy.  Farms are fewer and fewer as everything is being developed.

I just wrote a paragraph that was too political - our country needs prayer on this immigration bill.  I have my worries about this & never ending problem.  So, best stop chatting about something that I can't do anything about.

Carol

JudyB

yes Carol I agree about the immigration thing.  I am fortunate with the area we live in, so much is produced and there are so many wild foods available.  I do know that the 100 mile diet won't work everywhere.

I have a lot to get accomplished yet today.  Just thought I would check in.

Liz

I think we had Spring/Summer last week!  Back to clouds and sprinkle and chill. >:(

Posted a couple of photo's if anyone is interested.  Seems like I hardly ever get time to more than look and rarely comment.  Lots of nice things to see.  Must spend time taking pics again....almost forgot how to post them.

Wendy and I went on a Garden Tour that is a yearly event in the valley.  Saw some beautiful gardens.  Couldn't do many as Wendy not able to walk long.  Her garden should be on the list....said they will one day, want to put in a fountain and gazebo first....would love a gazebo!

I took her for her Birthday Dinner after as the rest of the family was working.  We went to the Rock Cod in Cowichan as they have great fresh salmon, etc.  Hard to believe she will be 50 on Sunday.  Put a little blurb in her card that may not be to well accepted:  Forties are the old age of youth.
Fifties are the youth of old age.
                                                 ;)

Might have put:  You become more reflective in midlife. You start pondering the "big" questions: what is life, why am I here and how much Healthy Choice ice cream can I eat before it's no longer a healthy choice. :-\

Yes, Judy B, you can purchase more memory for your computer for a modest sum.  Why not get rid of any programs that are not needed.....most computers come with all kinds of things that are extras.  That will free up space on your hard drive.  Just a thought!

Time to go.  Had a perm this morning and my neck is sore.  Perm turned out well and will make life easier.  Don't want to think about what it cost!!

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

I don't want to engage in a diatribe, but I'm an upholder of the law, and i  believe in enforcement relative to illegal aliens.  We can't (and shouldn't) jail them, for there are too many, but we should certainly send them back across the border.  When we read "illegal," it means the law has been broken, and that is definitely not the way for someone to begin their stay in our country - as a lawbreaker.  Those who hire them should be charged accordingly and either fined or jailed.  If we dont do as i've outlined here, then we are encouraging people to break a toothless law.  That's not the way a democracy should live.

Well, as of Sunday, I'll be off of here for five days, as we're beginning our trip Sunday, and there won't be any computers to check in on.  So, if anyone wants any more diatribes, y'all will have to get it from someone else!

Sorry Liz - apparently we were posting at the same time, except that you beat me slightly.

Judy I do eat REAL food that I buy at the local Co-op and farmers market. Fresh veggies and  free range chicken, and  alaskan salmon. All organic stuff. Even the Tofu is made locally from organic soy beans. I don't buy pesticide ridden foods.

Even the Essentials are all natural and all organic. With 5 veggies and 5 fruits and berries. The only fake thing was the eggbeaters. I eat healthy and am trying to get my cholesterol back down. I do not take any pharmaceutical drugs only vitamins. That's right NO DRUGS NO MEDS and I AM healthy

Hi, friends, I'm very weary today, so will only make a brief stop.

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Carol

I am probably going to have to sew summer pajamas for Don.  Cannot find 100% cotton in short length even on the internet or it is an unrealistic price.  Drats, I only like to quilt.

Ruth Ann:  Sorry to read that you are so weary and I have been wondering at what point you will be able to cut back on working?  You have my prayer for strength.

Al:  Right on!  So many of us are afraid to speak out for being shouted down & or called racist - this must be one of the worst decisions over the years that this country has let slide.  Am totally against babies born here being made immediate citizens as I think it just creates an unhealthy situation for the mothers to be clamoring to get over the border - even in the 70's, a hospital near the Texas/Mexico (El Paso) border had to be financially helped every year by the Texas citizens because of the huge medical bills - women who had never seen a doctor coming to ER and having High-Risk babies.  There are just too many stories out there of needless expense to the ordinary worker.  OK - I'll stop.

Marilyn:  Good for you!  I do take a statin because of so many good things that are accredited to taking that kind of med.  My doc has said that lots of exercise can keep cholesterol down as well.  She wants me to walk three miles per day.  I did two on the treadmill today and feel so sleepy every afternoon after either pool or treadmill exercise.

Did you hear about our winds?  142 mph clocked at Lafayette, Colorado - near our daughter.  She said the entire house seemed to shake & ended up trying to sleep in the basement.  We didn't have that but it was one of the worst day/night & today even.  Branches down.  Am so concerned about tornadoes in the midwest - this was a doozey.

The immigration bill didn't pass.  Am sure that some want to bring up the amnesty again.
Millions of people we don't even know the background.

100 mile diet -- lessee, I could eat beef, trout, vegetables, nothing sweet (no sugar or syrup :) ), apples, strawberries, and tobacco.  :)

I am trying to eat healthier, as well, because I've discovered, what I eat, my family eats.  :)

nards had a rough day today, but was feeling better by this evening.  hopefully, he will be back on track tomorrow.

Here's a computer issue for you -- if I have another page loading in the background while I am working/typing on another, as soon as the page loads, my keyboard starts typing backwards.  For example, I was typing "track" and it came out "tkcar."  ugh, though it can be kind of humourous, especially if I am not properly paying attention.

have a good night all!!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is a beautiful morning here in Georgia.  We had a very short little rain yesterday afternoon.  Every little bit helps.

Our new refrigerator was delivered yesterday and seems to be working well.  It looks a lot like the old one, although it is setup a bit differently.  It is a side-by-side and the ice is stored in a bin in the door, which allows more freezer storage.

Our daughter called yesterday evening to say she was feeling much better and was thinking of returning to work today.  Her job will soon be over for this year as they will have processed in all of the tax returns for this year.  She will be seeking another job and hopefully be able to handle a new job.

Will go to the Senior Center in a few minutes.  I am riding with my neighbor this morning.  This would usually be the day for our Computer Center Volunteer and User Group Meetings but they do not meet in June, July or August.

Karmat, I have never heard of the computer problem you describe.  That is a strange one.

Carol, I read about the winds around the Denver area.  It sounds like it was a good thing the winds stayed higher in the atmosphere.

Ruth Ann, slow down a bit.  I worry that you are getting too tired.

JudyB, you are fortunate to have so much good, pure food available in your area.

Marilyn, you are very fortunate to not have to take medicine.  You do eat well and I am sure that helps.

Al, I agree with your comments and those of a couple of the others of you concerning the problem of illegal immigration.  I was pleased to see that the bill being considered stalled in the Senate last evening.  However, I know that doesn't mean it is dead and we certainly are not doing anything to address the problems we have.  The hope of political advantage is such a strong motivator for our Congress.

Liz, glad you were able to go on the garden tour.

Hope everyone has a good and productive day.

Good Morning

I lay in bed this morning think about all I wanted to get done.....too much to do and not enough time.

Well the weather has turned.  Up in the 90's  A record amount of snowfall on Monday and then today these highs.  WOW .

The chicks have done well so far.  The girls are keeping journals and documenting the progress.  They are enjoying the peeping, I am having difficulty with the constant 90* heat.

Pat, that picture you posted of the chipmunk is so sweet.  Was it taken in Guelph?

John is heading to Timmins, he will be home later tonight.

That is all there is to my news.

Ruth Ann take care, don't overdo it.  I am praying.  Everyone I am praying.  We all have our issues and many we don't want to talk about them.  I am praying. God knows the issues.

Marilyn

Today is going to be a busy day for me Andi woke up at  2:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. I am so glad that this is my last work day this week..

I have 2 business appointments this afternoon  before I go back to Ruth's to fix her supper. I have to be in Eureka by 1pm to meet one lady and then just before I go back to work I have to meet another lady who lives in the same Mobile park as Ruth.

The Senior Center is serving biscuits and gravy for dinner today, I will eat some but not a lot.

Ruth just called and said she fell out of bed this morning and that one hip is sore. Oh my I hope she has not damaged another hip.

Larry, yea, I've never seen anything like it either.  We bought the laptop used, and it had a replacement keyboard from where the previous owner spilled OJ on it. :/  I suspect it may be something to do with that.  maybe.  it's odd, but easy to correct so it doesn't bother me too much.  Now, if I could just get its battery to charge.

Maryilin, I hope Ruth is okay.  That has to be scary for her

Hope every one is having a wonderful day.

Before it got to hot I was out in the garden moving some hens & chickens and what I did not move goes to the dump tomorrow.

Also I had my book, coffee, knitting and just relaxed before the heat set in.

It is lunch time so will get something to eat before heading out to work around 2

JudyB

We have 75 chicks.  We are in the process of fixing the shed at the back of the house.  They are in a kiddies hard plastic swimming pool.  There is no smell as they are cleaned out regularly.  The peeping cannot be heard in the kitchen let alone the rest of the house.  Now a pig??? that would be another story.

About a month before er slaughter these ones we are getting about 3 dozen turkeys.  Pat's son Andrew said he would like 3, so we already have freezers ready for some.  Also I am donating however many are needed for our church Christmas food baskets this year.  Next year we are looking into getting some beef on the property, all in an effort to produce as much of our own food as possible.

Well Most of my computer work is done, just a few more files to cull out and then a defrag.

I have to run lawns need mowing today too.

JudyB

Nita

Howdy, all! :)

Karma, I've had that same thing happen with everything typing backwards.  I was all ready to get a new keyboard, but it stopped.  Then I thought maybe I'd hit a "print backwards" key.   The letters just transpose themselves.  It's the strangest thing.  But then...I guess you'd know how strange it is. lol

Did you do a google to see what others are saying about this?  I didn't, but maybe I will know.  Inguiring minds....

We are having a lovely day.  There's a chance of rain this weekend, but today, and that's my now, it's beautiful.  I loaded some grass clippings in the wheel barrow, and raked some.

Where Sue and my daughter, Kim, had a garden last year, there is no grass.  Just this strong vine thing that is taking over.  I think the entire thing will have to be dug out.  I can't poison it because of the dogs.  I might poison a section, lay plywood over it, and then go for another section after that one dies.  I've never seen anything like it.  Ron always had a garden back there, and every year the grass would be green and tall before he tilled it again.  Not so this year.

I heard somewhere else about RAM getting old.  I don't know how old it would have to be to fail, but I guess it could wear out. Doesn't everything?

Gotta go turn off the timer.  The dogs' chicken is done.  They sure love that broth poured over their food too. :)  Nita

This has been a nice day without rain, so went out and took a few snaps.  Don't want to put them in the album, and thought some might be interested in seeing what I have been venting about regarding the construction of 300 homes going into the area in back of us.....

Ah, that's progress for you.  It was originally to have been built with the spacious lawns and trees...then along came a new developer with only money in mind.

Marilyn, you are right about how that cat spa looked....here is a clear photo without Squeek.  She takes off the top in order to lie across the thing for full brushing treatment.

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Ruth Ann Bice

Definitely some interesting posts his evening.

Yes, some changes at work are, I'm afraid, may push me rather quickly into retirement. Someone's job was eliminated, and I cannot physically (or mentally) keep up with the demands this has placed on me.

So, I appreciate your prayers as I try to find a way through this situation. There are so many other ramifications that I can't go into at this time, but many factors must be considered.

I guess right now I need the patience of Job, the wisdom of Solomon, the discernment of Daniel, and maybe the endurance of Sampson. At any rate, for SURE this is the time to let the Lord be my Shepherd through all this.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We finally had a decent rain late yesterday afternoon and it was certainly welcome.  However, far from what is needed to break the drought cycle.  It is beautiful outside today.

Not too much planned today.  Pat and I will be attending a meeting this morning and then should be home the rest of the day.

Ruth Ann, sometimes the difficult part is making the decision and then God provides the ability to work through the issues.  My sister retired at the end of April and stayed retired for a whole month.  She went back to work in the same office the first of June but said it may not last as they have been moved into a tiny office and she doesn't even have a workable desk.  It sounds like you work way too hard but obviously are a very valued employee.

Liz, I enjoyed your photos but I agree the new development certainly doesn't have the character of the original and to lose the trees is indeed a shame.

Nita, it sounds like you really pamper your dogs.

JudyB, I detect from your postings that you truly love living on and tilling the land.  We used to raise chicks on the farm but we never had turkeys.  We did have geese and ducks for one year only as they ate out every blade of grass in the yard and left some very unpleasant calling cards in the yard.

Ruth, we used to have some hens and chicks plants and I always enjoyed them.

Karmat, it is likely you will need to replace the battery as they have a limited life.  I just got a new battery for my laptop a few months ago as it was a part of the extended warranty on the computer that I had purchased.  It is a good thing I did get it as the CompUSA stores in the Atlanta area recently closed.

Marilyn, I hope your business appointments went well and that Ruth was not hurt by her fall.  Falls for the elderly, while something that happens a lot, are never good things.

Time to leave for coffee for today at the cafe.  The man, who I usually pick up each morning, is going to Hilton Head for a week in his sister's timeshare so I won't be picking him up this morning or all next week.

Marilyn

I see that my Internet is back on this morning. There was a fiber optic cable cut yesterday  in the southern part of the county and even our airport was at a standstill because the computers,  some phone lines were down. My computer was the only thing down  here. My cable for the TV, my phone line and my cell phone were all in working order.

Larry my business appointment went just fine. the business is really picking up since the Health Fair.

Karma Ruth was not hurt when she fell out of bed. Thank you Jesus!!

Liz I saw your photos, Personally I detest it when trees are cut down to make room for more housing. The cutting of trees makes the landscape look so barren. Especially when they cut down the old growth trees.

Here in the states there is so much building going on that even the farmlands and orchards are disappearing. I blame it on the influx of immigrants to this country, legal and well as illegal. So much of the housing is inhabited by those who were brought over from other countries, plus the prices are so inflated that housing is unaffordable anymore. Homelessness is more and more on the rise, there are so many poor in our own country and the government is giving away the money and food to other countries. OK off my soapbox now.

Today I am going to mow  hopefully it doesn't rain before I get out there. Then sun is out right this minutes but that could change  in 5 minutes.

It is a beautiful morning here.  Our daughter and family are flying to Paris this morning with a stay in Berlin as well.  He works for a Berlin headquartered company.  Travel prayers for them. please.

Larry:  good that you had rain as it surely has been a long drought for your area.  We are in a much more rainy pattern this springtime as well.

Most of my Friday was spent in Loveland, quilting with my favorite group in the basement of a large Methodist church.  It is just about perfect - except one woman who comes in and has to have everyone listen to her latest woes.  We even took the time to go out for lunch and that was fun.

Liz:  Love your picture of the bridge and little building, it is so calm and peaceful.  Not peaceful looking at the new development near you.  Why do they scratch off every tree?  To save MONEY.  Nothing can stand in the way of greed.

Quotedo not cease to pray for you
We are reminded of turning to prayer in so many ways and it is like a soothing balm to pray.

Carol

Hi Marilyn:  How good to read that your business is going well.  Kudos to you!

Carol

Larry, we thought that about the battery, as well, so we bought a new one.  It won't charge at all.  At least the old one will hold enough charge to keep the computer powered up long enough to shut it down properly, should I lose power.  maybe we just got a bum battery. :/

One of these days, I'll buy a new one (this one was used) and maybe avoid some of these little quirks. :)

It's Saturday, and my plan involves getting my family away from the computers.  don't know how or where but that is my plan. :)

Another rain filled day....even Misty won't stay outside!  Thought I would stop in here for a minute and read the posts and pray a little for everyone.

Sorry about what is happening with your job, Ruth Anne.  Larry had good advise (he always does) and one can only trust God to sort things out for good.  There always seems to be a good reason for why things happen in the lives of Christians.  Have to confess to getting a little confused sometimes by the process.

Thanks for that little Cat & Puppy link, Marilyn.  That is so cute and always makes my day brighter....You are right about what is happening in both our countries.  No different here either.  People coming from all over the world, ride a bus in Vancouver or Victoria and it is like visiting China.  Huge homes going up everywhere and more homeless trying to survive on the streets.  I guess we have to realize that the last part of our Bible is now taking place.....
So glad that Ruth is okay and that your business is doing well.  God is Good!

Etta Sue

We are back from Ohio.  I am about danced out.  We didn't see any ballgames but we went to the Dance dress rehearsal and then last night to the Dance Recital.  Most of these kids were great but I doubt if they tried out for 'So You Think You Can Dance', that they would get past the first audition!  And I got to hold, feed and play with Adrian...born Feb 22.  One thing for sure, no one should ask Edie, 'Is your baby a boy or girl?'  Adrian is all boy.  He is at that laughing stage and when he laughs his arms and legs all move excitedly!  He's a cutie!

I didn't think we were coming home this early but Ivalou has a wedding to attend at 4:30 today and the reception afterwards.  I am kind of glad to be back home.  I know I will sleep good tonight.

Hmm no one has stopped by since  Etta Sue did this morning.  What is happening? Where is everyone? My afternoon was spent relaxing and reading on the computer. I even got the chance to lie down for a short while before I took my shower and fixed my supper. The dogs had their walkies and my neighbor Mimi brought over some lettuce and chicory from her garden.

I have a little tomato forming on my tomato plant and lots of flowers, I think it might be an Early Girl plant.

I went to the store and bought a few things and then banked my paycheck. My bank has a little place in one of the grocery stores, There are always a lot of people there too.

Well I guess that it for tonight y-all. Check out the Pick of the clicks folder

My sis, Sue, and I went to Myrtle Point (about 45 minutes from home)for lunch today.  We met with a cousin we hadn't seen in a very long time...15 years maybe.....and my other sister drove over and met us there too.  It was nice.  We caught up on our families.

When we left, Sue and I took the long way home, back roads, to see if we could take some pictures.  It was raining just a little, but it became evident that it wasn't slowing down, and we weren't getting any sunshine.  She took some out the window while I drove, but other than that...no pictures.

I came home and snapped some of my flowers in the back yard.  At least it wasn't a pictureless day.  :/

Larry, I do pamper my guys, I think.  I cook for them rather than letting them go on a canned prescription diet.  One little guy is prone to Oxalate stones, and the vet said, being they are brothers, it might be good to keep Tyson on the diet too.  I researched and researched and found what I am comfortable feeding, and what supplements to give, so that it might hold back more stones from developing.  The prescription diet is really expensive I think.  Anyway....I do love them and they give me much more than I could ever give them.  They are the first ever pets I've felt this way about.

Liz, I've always gotten so tickled at the Kids' Letters To God.  Aren't they sweet?  And so honest.   I used to love Art Linkletter's  Kids Say The Darnedest Things.  I always laughed out loud.

I'm sorta tired tonight.  I think it's the rainy weather.  I'm ready to get my robe on have a cup of tea.   Later then...Nita
