JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

YES!!  (How did you know, Ruth?)  ;)  I'm really wiped out tonight.  I will be glad when this week is over.  But I should have a nice paycheck coming!  ;)

Hi everyone.

I have spent several hours dealing with my desktop computer crashing.  I believe I have a virus of some type as it prevents me from installing new problems and has corrupted some of my programs.  I had the BounceBack that worked last evening but fear it may also have become corrupted.  If I can't get it cleaned up I am going to have to start fresh with reinstalling Windows 7, which isn't hard and reinstalling the many programs I use.  At least the computer hasn't crashed this morning.  In the future, I will not set the BounceBack program to automatically backup my computer and will do that manually.

I am going to my retirees luncheon today and will leave in about 20 minutes as it takes almost an hour to get there.  That is the only thing on my schedule for today.

Yesterday our daughter finally had her appointment with the disability doctor.  Hopefully her case can now move forward.  It took her all day to get to the appointment, wait for the doctor and then get home.  Fortunately he had all of her medical records to review but gave her an order to get an additional x-ray, which will require her to make another long trip to the south part of the city.

Etta Sue

Larry ~ You posted while I was composing.  Your desktop sounds like my laptop a few weeks back.  When you have a virus, your computer acts like it has a mind of its own.  My laptop works beautiful now!  I did get an external drive to backup my files on.  It is a My Passport Essential.  320gb.  My laptop is 320gb but then you can't back up everything from the computer to the Ultra-portable Hard Drive.

I took Ivalou to rehab yesterday and then ate lunch at Pizza Hut.  Ivalou and I both needed prescriptions at the CVS so got them before returning home.

Then I cleaned the dining room.  Sparkly dining room now.  Things are getting done but today I plan to rest.  It helps to not put the cleaning supplies and sweeper up and away.  Next is cleaning the bathroom.  Then the rest of the house will get what Mom used to say, 'A promise and a lick!'  Never knew what was meant by that saying.   ???  As for cleaning, I just think of it as surface cleaning!

We have had three days of rain.  I forgot.  Rest today?  Well, it is predicting rain but if it hasn't rained by after lunch, I will mow the lawn today!

I read my 'Upper Room' today.  It was about Mary and Martha.  Mary was worshipping at Jesus' feet and Martha complaining to Jesus that she is to do all the work while Mary sits at Jesus' feet.  I start my days out as Mary!  I worship Jesus as I read my devotions and my 'reading the Bible in a year' chapters and verses.  Then I turn into being Martha and get to work.  Some days I stay in the Mary mode!  ^-^

I did get a phone call earlier from the secretary at church.  I have my own key to the church in an envelope at church.  Yay!  Now when I have things to put on the computer, I can come and go on my time instead of calling to see if anyone is at church so I can go in.  That is good.

Tony just called.  He is coming this evening to put pitch on my roof around the chimney and where my solar heat is attached to the roof.  AND while cleaning, I noticed I have the long cornice board over the picture window hanging on with only one nail on one end!  I am sure it has been that way since for a long time when I had to fix my vertical blinds but now that I know it needs fixed, I am getting it fixed.  Sons are good!

It has continued to be quite cool up here in the north.  I will be starting the furnace soon as it is too cold for me in the house.  I have an electric heater in the bedroom that i have going for the night, that way the fire doesn't need to be going then.

John has not avoided the flu.  He is dealing with its effects today.

Last night was the Women's Meeting for the month of May.  We had a wonderful time eating and enjoying each others company.  The pastor's daughter spoke about her time as a missionary kid on the Ivory Coast.  Some of her experiences were hair raising.  During her school years she and her brother heard that a missionary couple had been killed,  It took a week to find out that it wasn't her parents.    The evening ended in prayer and one on one fellowship.  All in all a great night.

I must go and check other forums so Bye for now.

Etta Sue, that expression, 'a lick and a promise' means you will hit it a lick today, and promise to clean it better some other time.  ;)  I have heard it all my life, too.

FIFTY years ago today, I became a mother for the first time!  Can it really be that long??  Diane has been a joy and a blessing every day of her life, she is such a sweet daughter, wife, mother and now grandmother to two.  We are going to their house soon, to join them for hamburgers and to celebrate Diane.  I thank God for her.

Beth was feeling better today, she did eat lunch ( I got to go down and feed her.) But she was having a terrible time speaking loud enough for me to hear what she said.  This was "crazy hair day" and Jennifer, who works there and is Beth's friend, had parted Beths hair into little sections, put colorful rubber bands on them and curled them.  She looked cute.

I need to get a load of clothes out of the dryer, and get ready to leave.  Happy Thursday evening, all!

Well I am impressed Kass has completed all the English assignments for the entire English course.  She has enjoyed English this semester.  Different teacher has made, what was dull, is now interesting.

This has been a quiet day.

Must go have a great evening everyone.

As the Deer Panteth for the Water
(Click to hear music)

Written by Martin Nystrom

Psalm 42:1
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longs after you.
You alone are my hearts desire,
And I long to worship You.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

I want you more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though you are a King.
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

Yes we have rain and cool days again.

Dinner is on the stove - Fish Chowder   we are eating later as we were in town but also had something to eat so not really starving.

My aunt called this morning with news not the good kind her neighbors wife had and is in the hospital with the threat of a nursing home well now while he was visiting her last evening he suffered a heart attack and is in now as well.  He has had an ongoing heart problem but I am sure that his wife not well has just put him over the top.

Welcome keeper

I know this isn't a humor forum, but "a laugh a day keeps the doctor in pay.  So here's a pun for y'all.

Hi everyone.  Just back from coffee at the senior center.  The big activity for the day is to take the car to get it washed.  I am going out of town tomorrow but will be back Sunday afternoon and I am driving.  So wanted the car cleaned up as a friend is riding with me.  We still have some evidence of the pollen from the mountains showing on the car.

I am happy to say that my BounceBack program seems to have done exactly what I had hoped and restored my hard drive into the condition it was before the problems.  I spent several hours yesterday running a malware program and also my anti-virus scan and neither found a problem.  I also ran a couple of other programs I have to check things out.  The computer did not crash yesterday so am feeling much better about the situation.

Ruth, one of the problems with having a heart condition is that a diseased heart doesn't like stress.  I try to avoid as much of it as possible as know that it can bring on immediate angina, which isn't good for your heart.

Judy, a teacher can make such a difference in whether a child learns and enjoys.  I still remember some of the very good teachers I had over the years.  Glad Kass did so well.

Janet, glad to hear that Beth was feeling better yesterday.  Hope the improvement continues today.

Etta Sue, glad you got the key for the church.  It should simply your activities there.

A nice sunny day today.  Glad of that after rains and clouds the last 3-4 days.  I did get the yard mowed yesterday after lunch.  I had one drop of rain hit me on the top of my head and one quarter-size drop on the lawnmower.  I looked up and a huge black cloud was right over me and I wasn't half done with mowing.  But in a matter of a few seconds, the sun was shining again.  It was back and forth with sun and clouds the rest of the mowing.  And the wind!  So strong!!

Tony came last evening and we got my cornice board fixed and then he looked in my attic.  Seems there is a vent right above where I have a water spot on the ceiling in the utility room.  So he got his ladder and went up on the roof.  There is a rubber/plastic flange around the 3" vent that has deteriorated with age.  All three vent flanges need to be replaced.  Well, nephew Jeff is the one that put the roof on for Mom 10-12 years ago so I called him.  He is suppose to come tomorrow and replace the flanges.

Today I am doing some laundry and then plan to clean some more house.  I just may have to start wearing sunglasses inside...everything is getting so shiny! ! ! :lol:

It took 5 minutes for my last post to post.  Then it said while I was posting someone else posted.  All I see is Larry's post before mine and it was a half hour before mine.  Is anyone else having problems or is it just me?

Where's Marilyn???

Make them pure and holy by teaching them your words of truth.

John 17:17 NLT

Truth is unchanging

"Hey, Mom, guess what we learned in school today?" Victor took off his raincoat and dropped it on the floor inside the back door.

"Did you know that people used to think the world was flat?" Victor said.

"Did they?" Mom said, dropping her mouth in an expression of shock. "If it's not flat, what shape is it?"

"It's round," Victor said. "You know that."

"You're right," Mom admitted. They sat down in a chair next to a freestanding globe in the corner of the front room. "But all those years people  thought the world was flat, was it flat or was it round?"

Victor thought for a moment before answering firmly, "Round."

Mom nodded, "That's right, Victor. You see what people thought didn't change what was true, did it? Let me ask you one more question, Victor. Some people say the Word of God isn't true. What do you think about that?"

Victor pondered his mom's question for a long minute before answering. "What they  think doesn't matter, does it, Mommy?" Victor answered.

"You're right, Victor," Mom said. "Because truth doesn't change."

OK I didn't have any problem posting.  I have alerted Pat to your problem Etta Sue.  But I am wondering if you have to clean up your cookies?  I do mine regularly when things slow down.

It is a cloudy day, but in chatting with Ruth she says the sun is out up her way and it sure is getting brighter here.

Kass is going to a youth outing next weekend.  I am praying the holy spirit reaches her in a fresh new way.  She will be gone from Friday noon through to Monday evening.  This is an annual thing that all of our girls have gone to.  Elizabeth has chosen to not go.  That is sad.

Have to go, check out more of the new posts.

Ruth

Larry:   My aunts neighbour with the heart problem is now home from the hospital and yes it was stress.

Just stopped by to check the mail as I am doing some of that dreaded house work and yes I will be pleased when the job is done.  Just a thought Etta Sue perhaps you will come and help me with the cleaning.

Earlier today I called our cable company for the TV and yes I got a large reduction in the monthly fees, No contract was one price and a 1 year contract lowered it even more as well as being a long time subscriber it is good to know about some of the perks these are not secrets but neither do they make it public.

Yesterday the site acted up with me as well and I do not have an overload of cookies etc.

Abide With Me

Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
earth's joys grow dim; its glories pass away;
change and decay in all around I see;
O thou who changest not, abide with me.

I need thy presence every passing hour.
What but thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who, like thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

Hold thou thy cross before my closing eyes;
shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee;
in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

I've had a great evening out with Kassie and we ended it with an ice-cream in a cup.  Considered a small, but larger than any other small that can be bought.  Wonderful way to end a good evening.

Good night all, I am heading to bed.

Hi Everyone.

I will leave from coffee to attend an overnight meeting not too far from Atlanta.  I will be home tomorrow afternoon.  I'll try to check in tomorrow evening.

A strange morning - intermittent bright sunshine and heavy, dark clouds, with gusty wind.  And it should be around 60 but these winds won't let it feel that warm.   :(

Jeanne, it sounds like my weather yesterday is yours today!  Gusty wind with clouds, then sunshine!

Well, my roof is all fixed.  Nephew Jeff came and replaced flanges on all three vents and then sealed the chimney, around the solar heat panel and the flange around where the electric comes into the house with pitch.  Took him less than an hour.  He is now at his Mother's, Ivalou, and is removing the ramp he made for inside the house.

I don't think I will clean much today.  I may make a list for groceries to get after rehab Monday.  And I think I will install my My Passport Essential...portable Hard Drive.

Then I have a project I am thinking about doing.  Since I am reading the Bible in a year and all these names to pronounce, I want to put on Word the names and how to pronounce it from a book that I have.  The book tells you about the person and where those names are located in the Bible.  I want just the pronunciation.  It may take me a long time to get it done.

I clicked PREVIEW and it was over a minute before it showed the preview.  And I downloaded ccleaner.com last week and all my cookies were cleaned up then.  Any other suggestions?

Same thing happened today when posting.  First, it took forever in 'loading'.  I even copied and pasted.  Clicked Post several times.  Clicked 'reload' and 'stop'.  Nothing made a difference.  Finally, it still showed my 'reply' windows but above it said, a person had posted and that I might want to review my post before posting...or something like that.

Then I scrolled on down and it looked like my post did post.  So then I went to Thoughts for the Week and clicked on todays posts which on the right said the last post was Etta Sue and sure enough, it did post!  And I still had the window in another tab up with my post waiting to be posted.

Cyber spooks.  Also, I have no problems on other sites or Facebook.  Just  CP.  If this posts right away, maybe it is my .gif files that is causing the slowness.

Not much sleep last night.  I am loco.  I bought John a book last weekend and told him I would have it finished before he came home.  595 pages.....and I will be done before he comes home.  It is the type of book that you can't put down once you get into it.  It was already light when I turned off the light to get a bit of sleep.  I have about 125 pages to go.

Have a great day everyone, And God bless

Freed by "foolishness"

So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world's brilliant debaters? God has made them all look foolish and has shown their wisdom to be useless nonsense.

1 Corinthians 1:20 NLT

We were deceived by the wisdom of the serpent, but we are freed by the foolishness of God.

St. Augustine

The wisdom of the world

The wisdom of the world would never have chosen a cross for its salvation. The wisdom of the world always chooses the path of obvious victory. It knows nothing of the deeper battles and subtleties of faith. It acts on what it sees on the surface and grabs as much visible glory as it can. It will not wait; it seizes the day.

We are not born of that spirit. We are born of the Spirit of God, and the Spirit of God will lead us to the Cross. He points us to eternal realities, not temporary glory. While earthly wisdom tells us to get what we can while we can get it, God's wisdom shows us the reality of eternity that lies beyond the visible nature of this corrupt world. It shows us the Resurrection beyond the Cross.

Those of us who seek true wisdom do not simply desire information from God. We want to know what He is like. We must come to see Him as the source of all truth, and we must take our cures from Him. We shouldn't be satisfied with Him just telling us what to believe. We need to see it in action.

God has given us the answer, of course. We can examine the wisdom of Jesus, which led Him to death for a greater good. What He did in surrendering to the Cross was absolute foolishness in the eyes of the world. And it still is. But we can see beyond the Cross if we are wise, and based on what we see, we can walk toward it with confidence.
