JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Hi, friends,

I thought it was the weekend when I awakened this morning at 8:15! So, I didn't get there to work my 1/2 day as prescribed until 9:15 - was I embarrassed!!  :idiot:

Thanks for your prayers for my cough. I agree, Larry, most likely my immune system is not so good about now. However, I hope the latest blood tests will show an improvement.

Karma and Jeannine, still praying for your husbands as they recover.

Oh, yes, happy anniversiry to the celebrating couple, also! Best wishes for a great new year ahead.

Etta Sue, we have some pizza buffets here in Nashville, too. Haven't wanted to carry a plate around in a little while, though.

Y'all have a good afternoon.

   Janet, that was supposed to be NOW not NOT. Just got back from walking with the dogs one at a time of course.  It is clouding up and supposed to rain some more tonight. I am taking care of a Cat for the lady who lives next door to Ruth. Yesterday I couldn't find it when I went over there. I later found it  inside  the bottom  of an unplugged freezer. There was an opening  where one could get to the motor to work on it I think that poor cat is  afraid of me now.

We now have about four inches of that white, wet, cold stuff, and more falling until early tomorrow.  I teased Darrel about going out for pizza tonight.  ;)  It's a really good night for staying in.  They are telling people that unless they HAVE to be out on the roads, don't go!  (Good advice.)

Yes, Etta Sue, I have had those things (or similar) happen to me, too, far more often than I would like.  :-[  Glad you found your cards, though.

This would have been a perfect day for scrap booking, but we turned the heat off in my studio, thinking winter was over, so it's cold in there.  I might have to light the heater again tomorrow, though, because I am not good at doing nothing.  And don't want to do hard work until I feel better.

Abby's dad's play was canceled for tonight, so they say people who have tickets for tonight may use them for tomorrow night or Sunday afternoon's performance.  Our tickets are for tomorrow night, and hope the weather and roads are much improved by then.

Ruth Ann, sorry for the  :-[, but glad you got a little extra rest, which I'm sure you needed.  (((hugs)))

Sweet dreams, everybody!

hello all we have about 7-8 inches of snow here and it is still comming down and starting to BLOW.... we have cars stuck EVERYWHERE in the county because people don't know the meaning of stay home..... so now we are just waiting for a call to a wreck we went all winter without a weather realted accident for our service and its been 2 months since our last ambulance run for anything  :) which is good but bad at the same time cuz it usually means our next one is going to be BAD! anyways i must be off to get warmer clothes on just in case adios ya'll

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Sorry to read of the snow situation in the midwest and it sounds like it is headed East.  We are to have 75 degree weather today with rain moving in and may have some isolated severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

Don't have much planned for today as rather wore myself out yesterday with being gone most of the day yesterday and then again last evening.  I didn't want to get up this morning and don't have the specific time pressure as the man I normally pick up for coffee is out of town until Wednesday so no one is waiting on me or expecting me to be there by a specific time.  We have something to go to this morning and then hope to have a quiet rest of the day.

I plan and sending my revised family website to my cousins today.  I had thought about doing a newsletter but discarded that idea in favor of a leading "News of the Family" page and updating the family information and photos, including recollections of our family reunion and a number of photos.  I have 10 megs of webspace available with my ISP and so will use that for the website.  I have been working on it for sometime.

I had a nice surprise yesterday when I went to the senior center.  The lady I have been working with for the Senior Golden Olympics met me (which I was expecting) to pick up some papers but she also gave me a beautiful Hydrangia plant in full bloom.  That was totally unexpected.

Etta Sue, my wife and I also have those moments where we can't remember what we did with things.  I think that goes with our mature age.  :)  We usually find what we are looking for but sometimes later.

Well it is time to head out for coffee.  Hope everyone has a nice day.

Janet

Sarah, I surely hope there were no bad injuries or fatalities because of the snow.  Working with an ambulance crew would either be exciting or stressful----maybe both.  Take care of yourself and remember that your body needs rest.

Larry, glad you have a slow day today.  Yesterday was TOO slow for me!  Not much on the agenda for today, either, until time to go to Hugoton to see Jeff's play tonight.  It's called Murder by the Book.

I think I will try to get out my Family Reunion Newsletter today.

See you all later!

While clearing out emails, I came across this and wanted to share it.

RITE OF PASSAGE

Do you know the legend of the Cherokee Indian youth's rite of passage?

His dad takes him into the forest blindfolded and leaves him alone.
He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not take off the blindfold until the ray of sun shines through it.

He is all by himself. He cannot cry out for help to anyone. Once he
survives the night, he is a MAN.

He cannot tell the other boys of this experience. Each lad must come
into his own manhood.

The boy in our story was, naturally, terrified. He could hear all
kinds of noise. Beasts were all around him. Maybe even a human would
hurt him. The wind blew the grass and earth and it shook his stump.
But he sat stoically, never emoving the blindfold.

It would be the only way he could be a man.

Finally, after a horrific night, the sun appeared, and he removed his
blindfold. It was then that he saw his father sitting on the stump
next to him, at watch the entire night.

"I will never fail you. I will never abandon you." (Hebrews 3:5)

If God takes you to it, He'll lead you through it.

Janet - I really like that "rite of passage."  What a beautiful illustration of the Scripture!  Sometimes it's so hard to realize that our God is still there - but He is.

JudyB

We have had snow every day in the morning, but, it was generally gone by noon.  The sun is strong already.

This has been a week.  Started off with trying to breed our dog.  The male was double her size and double her weight.  What a time.  WE'll see what happens, I am afraid we were not going to have pups this time.

We are having a wonderful time here with Mother.  I am listening to John and thekids laughing and giggling with her.  I am enjoying having her here.

John's truck has a problem.  When they were changing the oil there was metal in the oil.  As a result they went hunting and found a major problem.  The truck part will not be in till monday night and won't be ready to go till Tuesday.  I like this.....I have John home for an additional 2 days!  No slip seating with this company.

Have been called, GTG

Judy

Janet

Judy, what is slip seating?  If you are all enjoying Mother, then I'm sure she is having a good time, too.

I went out and waded in the snow to take a few pictures.  It is at least 8" deep, and lots has melted already.  Should be so good for all the trees, and maybe help the water table, too.  I can't recall a winter/spring with this much moisture.  The wheat was looking really good before it disappeared beneath the blanket of white.

I practiced for probably an hour and a half, now Darrel is practicing.  My teacher was really pleased this week with my progress, but I want to go faster. And she says Darrel is "brilliant!" :)  We are really enjoying our lessons.

Sorry, Etta Sue.  But so far, this is the Spring that isn't. ;)  At least you don't have to mow the snow!

Hi, friends,

They're even forecasting possibility of snow tomorrow morning about 7 o'clock! That's pretty late for snow here in Nashville.

I ate with friends today, then went to the grocery

There's an interesting trial being covered here in Tennessee where the wife of a minister shot and killed him. The small town has been loving and merciful to her, and it's painful to watch the courtroom proceedings as they develop. They even had court all day today from 8:15 until about 5:40 this evening. My heart goes out to the entire family - what a tragedy.

Y'all have a good evening.

May our God grant to that minister's wife to repent, confess, and find forgiveness in a Savior Who fully understaands.

karmat

Good evening.  They are also calling for snow here.  Apparently, this is the same kind of weather system we had about 20 years ago.  i remember snow on April 19th when I was in high school, but I think that is about the latest.  When I lived in Boone, it would snow in May, and has even snowed at Grandfather mountain in June and July.  That is obviously NOT typical.

We go home tomorrow.  Woohaohdohahoehaywyowow.  Late yesterday and last night was rough, but he has done really well today, despite some loopiness and silliness while on the pain medicine.  (He called for the nurse in an English accent, etc).

so, a new journey is beginning.  Go GOD!!

Ruth

Good evening.     All you folk with the added snow please keep it and I will be praying for it to go away real soon.

Judy B :   Did you rec. the info I sent.
When will mom be able to return to her apt?

Our daughter treated Mel & myself to dinner this evening,  but also a very special surprise was a phone call from Sue's daughter wishing us a belated happy anniversay.

Praise the Lord some of the stress issues I have been trying to cope with are gradually being taken care of.

Karma: How is Bernard doing. Thanks for the update while I was prepairing to post.

I have downloaded an income tax program so now I need to get it done and sent off by the end of the month.

:)  Good evening to all .  Well I have a very busy day.  I was invited by my brother in law to come to a mini seminar for missions.   His mission is called Finnishers and they promote people who are retired and also older to go on short term missions. I was also part of a praise team ot this function.  I am so glad that I went but it was a very long day and it was worth every moment that I was there.  Two different ladies spoke of how the Lord showed them in there later years how they could make an impact in this world to help in third world countries.  One lady not saved till 1996 said that the Lord spoke to her and told her to go, she said I have no skills but God said go and she kept saying no but he finally won and she went to Africa and started working with 23 children and now she has 700 children and these are the children that she never had in her marriage so they all call her grandma.  She is now in her 70's and is going back.  The other lady went to Cambodia and was able to purchase land and has built many buildings for orphaned children from  H.I.V./AIDS families who some still have there mothers but some of them are very sick,
She also has a building for grandperents and about to star having one for babies and expectant mothers and this is all done by donations this lady is 72 years old and she acts like a very young woman.  She told me if she had listened to the doctors she would be a bent old lady and she said no way.  This morning was worth the long drive from ny home to here what God can do with people if they would listen to his word as this lady said more than once that it is amazing what excuses that we have but the Lord will not accept them.
Can you tell that I am excited  what I heard today Praise his name.

Karma:  Praise the Lord that you are going  home tomorrow, just tell Bernard to do what the doctor tells him.

Judy B and John and Mum.  Its nice to see you post and I hope that you are healthy please say hi to John's mum and John keep the Shinny side  up.

To every one else:  Hope that you all have a great day in the Lord's house tomorrow.  Good night. <3

Slip seating is when a driver is assigned a truck and if the truck is in for repair the driver is told to use someone elses truck.  He then has all his own bedding and other items in his own truck, and he is forced to leave it and use someone elses bedding etc.  When he gets back from the trip often then his truck is out with someone else and he is on to another truck again.  As a result John would take all his belongings out of his truck and be able to use them in all other trucks. Few other drivers remove their belongings, therefore there is even more shortness of space.  Remember the cab of a truck is like a 4X8 box that they live in.

Amen Al about that pastor's wife.  We have had this conversation before.

Ruth Yes and thank you.  Happy Anniversary!

Go God.....Go Nards!

Yes Mom is doing a lot of laughing.  The latest date we have been given is the end of summer........This is so hard to believe.

A dear friend has been praying for this weather.  Cold nights and cool days.  He is getting a lot of sap from the trees.  Then we get a cold snap and the sap stops.  when the weather becomes milder he is off and running again. (Rather the sap is off and running again!)

My sewing machine has quit.   This machine is the one Mother (Pat's and mine) bought MANY years ago.  I had it serviced a year or so ago, and it has run like a top.  I will have to take it back and get this fixed.  I am looking into getting an embroidery machine.  One that I can hook up to the computer, and download pictures and have the machine embroider them..... Expensive but I am looking in to it.  We have a sewing show in Toronto in the autumn, I hope Pat and I can go to it, to check out the deals there.

Have a good Sunday folks.  Enjoy Church and whatever else you have on.

Gord, Glad you enjoyed that function.  I will say hello to Mother, John has spend the day pestering her.   She loves every moment of it.

God Bless
Judy

Pat

Hi folks...

I'm very late but have been in Hamilton all day with Norm to visit Judy.  Poor Judy is stressed about Monday.  i may go back again tomorrow.

It was nice chatting to you last night Karma as you sat there with Nard.  So happy he's going home.

I must get to bed as another long day tomorrow in Hamilton and then again on Monday.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

After a very rainy, but uneventful night here in our area, the rain seems to have stopped and it is just overcast.  I haven't heard whether there were any bad storms here in Georgia but we were under tornado alerts.  My new weather radio went off for the first time yesterday afternoon when there was a tornado watch in effect.  However, it ended up being for south of us.

We slept in this morning so won't get to Sunday School and while I am ready for church Pat is not.  Fortunately, the choir is just filling the choir loft but not doing the anthem or other music today.  We have a large youth choir that meets in our church for practice with youth chosen from throughout the area.  They do very fine work and have children from elementary through highschool.  They perform at her church a couple of times a year as a part of their payment for using our facilities.

Karmat, it is obvious that Bernard is doing very well in the eyes of the doctors if they are letting him come home today.  I think that sometimes when we are the ones recovering or a very close loved one it seems that progress is slow but his body has been put through a lot and is now doing the marvelous work of restoration.

Janet, glad to see that you are continuing to enjoy your piano lessons and that you both are doing so well.  Glad the snow is melting.

Pat, this will be a long day for Judy.  You are doing a wonderful work when you take Norm over to see Judy even though I am sure it must be exhausting for you.

On Friday, our granddaughter got married at long last.  They already have three children so was very happy to see them finally have a legal family as well.

Judy, something doesn't seem right with it taking so long to fix the elevator.  They could almost build a new building in that length of time.  Sure glad you all are enjoying having John's mother with you and it will probably turn out to be a very memorable time in the lives of your children who can experience her being there on a day by day basis.

Gord, thanks for sharing about your experience at the mission conference.  It sounds like you came away very inspired and enthused.

Ruth, glad that things are smoothing out for you all.  Enjoy your tax preparation work!  :)

Ruth Ann, hope the snow missed you.  Surely we are out of the freeze and snow cycle for this season.  I have been hearing about that trial on the news.  It is the type of case the media loves.

Etta Sue, hope you haven't packed your snow shovel away for the season.  Of course, snow this time of the year isn't going to stay on the ground very long.

Janet

Here we are, into a brand new week.  This is the week of our Women's Conference, which kicks off with a Rebecca St. James concert on Thursday evening.  Then the conference is Friday night and Saturday morning.  We had a chili feed today after church, the final fund raiser for the conference.

Jeff's play last night was good, and he did a great job.  He really loves acting, even though he is so busy he really doesn't have time for the practices.  He was Edgar Allen Poe, and there were eight other famous authors in the play.  Really, sort of corny, but good clean fun.

I'm so happy for the Shufords, and pray Nards' healing continues at a supernatural pace.

Thinking today of Judy and Norm, and faithful Pat.  Such a difficult thing for all concerned, and I cannot imagine the agony Judy has endured, and continues to endure.

Larry, I rejoice with you about your granddaughter marriage, and pray it will be a good and solid one.  Also, I thank God each time I think of Stacey and the progress she has made.  God does hear the prayers of parents/grandparents, but sometimes it seems it takes years of faithful persistence before we see the answers.

Our road has turned once again into a muddy bog.  :(  I wish they would put some good gravel or chewed-up asphalt on it.  It is all but impassable.

I hope you all have a restful afternoon.

Hi, friends,

Well, I must be requiring a huge amount of sleep these days. Took a long nap yesterday that extended past suppertime before I awakened long enough to take meds about 2 hours late and then eat a bite of supper. Then, didn't awaken until 2 pm this afternoon.

However, that bad sore throat is much better and I feel a bit of energy today.

Wow, such good news about Mom laughing and enjoying her stay with y'all, JudyB, and to hear that Nards gets to go home is awesome!!! :)

Will continue to pray for Judy and Norm McKenna. Such trials they've endured. Pat many, mny thanks to you for being such a dear friend to them.

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann

I really should mow my lawn.  But I decided that I didn't need to mow when it was below 50° so I didn't.  Prediction is that it is to get warmer each day next week and be in the 70°'s by next weekend.  Ah, two Springs in one year!!

Thank God for friends returning home after surgeries, for Mother's laughing and imprinting lasting memories for her relatives, for friends who are there when others need them, for sleep when our bodies need the rest and knowing that God will be with a dear sister when she under goes yet another surgery.  Just know I am praying for all of you.

Indiana is saturated with moisture once again.  I imagine if you dug a hole 20' deep, it would be wet.  Never has there been in history this much rain.  We are way over the average rainfall so far this year.

Church was awesome this morning.  Both ministers preached on 'Philip, the Catalyst'.  Our sermons this year have been about being a catalyst for God.

Time for TV!!

We're home.  Tired and Bernard is sore, but we are home. :)  He is doing very well.  I've already had to tell him to rest once, that i was afraid he was overdoing it.  he's resting now.

It is snowing outside, and they are calling for 3 - 5 inches. :/  Should be up in the 60s by the middle of the week, though.

Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers.

We love you guys.
