    Morning Devotional...

Psalm 14:1. "The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no god.'  They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good."

It's foolish of human beings to deny the existence and sovereignty of God.  It's a foolish attitude to have, because His existence and power are quite plainly evident.  As the psalmist says elsewhere, "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork."  He's simply telling us that there is abundant daily evidence in our world for a gloriously wise and powerful God, a wonderful Maker and Ruler of all things.

So it's foolishness to ignore and deny the overwhlming evidence.  Not only so, but denial like that  has and always will produce certain inevitable results.  The psalmist tells us about it.  He says, "They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good."  It just means that all of us humans are equally guilty in the production of all the evils we see every day in this world.  Simply put, man's corrupt behavior has resulted from his constant denial  of his Maker and Lord.  He's gone his own way instead of God's way, and his way has not been good.

All this points us to the only solution to the world's ills.  It begins with recognition and awareness of the good and living God.  The Apostle Paul wonderfully stated it in his second letter to the Corinthians, chapter four and verse six: "For it is the God Who commanded light to shine out of darkness Who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the Face of Jesus Christ."

What about you, dear friend?  Do you at least have the beginning of the solution in your heart?  Have you come to personally know Jesus Christ, so as to see in Him God's glory and goodness?  He welcomes such acquainance on your part.  You can come to know Him by means of His Word, the holy Bible.!Al Moak

Judy is already in or ready for surgery.  God Bless Judy and all the surgeons and nurses today along with her loved ones.  May the guiding hands of God heal her in ways only He knows.

I am off in fifteen minutes to the Ear, Nose and Throat doctor.  My son called me last night.  He mumbles so I am all the time saying, 'What?'.  Last night he was saying, 'What?'  He could barely understand what I was saying.  I will be glad when I get my voice back.  And wouldn't you know, I have a slight cold.  Have to convince them it isn't this slight cold that is causing all the problems.

Back later to let y'all know what he said.

I am praying for Judy.  Lord You be the hands that hod the instryments in this surgery.

John is leaving today and I have to drive him to his truck.  I can't wait till all the repairs are done, and bugs ironed out.  It is quite a distance to Peterbuilt North Bay.

We have rain today.  That is really a blessing, it will clean up the roads and all.

I am off, keeping all the needs here in Prayer.

I have been to the ENT. I am to have surgery for a pre-cancerous growth on my larnyx on May 1 at 9:00am.  He will perform a biopsy as well as clean the growth from my larnyx.  Then I can't talk for one week.  That's the hard part although I have stopped talking as much since it wears me out to talk now.

I have postoperative appointment on May 14 at 11 am.  I guess that will be when I find out about the biopsy report.  I do know if it is cancerous, I will only need radiation on my throat.

Not good news but it sure could have been worse news.  Thank God.

I am okay with it all.  I am in God's hands!

    Hi Etta Sue,

My thoughts and prayers are with you concerning this growth.  Our God is big enough to take care of ALL of our needs.  And I'm so grateful for that.

Not much has changed in my neck of the woods.  Survived daughters birthday get together (did Libby Lu).

My family still needs your prayers, so when you run out of stuff to pray for, please remember us.  God knows our need.

    Thanks,
    Samantha

EttaSue I like that word "pre" cancerous.  As long as it is "pre" we can thank God for blessing you with an urgency to get it checked.

Has anyone heard from Pat????  I am continuing to pray for Judy.  I am leaving very soon for small group, will ask them to pray as well.

Kassie is really sweatting it today.  She can't find her cadet tie.  She didn't put it away behind her, and has no idea where it is....I hope a lesson learned.

Well I am off.  Back tomorrow, will call Pat and see if I can get the results of surgery.

    Have a good night everyone

Hi everyone.  It is a beautiful sunny, cloudless day here in Georgia.  Judy, we sure could use some of that rain you are getting today.

Etta Sue, glad you found the problem at this hopefully "pre" stage.  I can't image not speaking for a week.

I hope that Judy M's surgery is over for today and has been successful.  I am praying for her as I do for all of the folks here on SeniorNet.

Al, that was a great devotional today.  Isn't it amazing that folks can not see the hand of God in everything about us but the evil.  We need to seek God's will for our lives and not that our will be done.

Samantha, birthday parties are a lot of work but sure it will be a memorable occasion for your daughter.

Karmat, the Lord provides as you saw with the lady stepping forward to play the piano for Bernard.  Sure he will be back at it shortly.

Carol, glad you had such a nice visit with your sons.

Sarah, I am sure I knew at one time that you were out of highschool.  Just had a senior moment and didn't remember.

Marilyn, enjoyed your pictures of the raptors and owls.

This evening is our monthly birthday celebration for one of the ladies in our Sunday dining group.  We are going to O'Charleys.  This group always has a great time.

Pat called the Stanley Steamer carpet cleaners right before lunch and within the hour they were here and cleaned our carpets in several rooms.  I don't think I ever remember having such prompt service.  They were only here about an hour and now we are waiting for the carpets to dry.  By late this evening they should be dry and certainly by morning.  We are trying not to walk on them anymore than necessary.  We are getting ready for my sister and BIL's visit in a few days.

I received the following today and had never seen it before and felt it had a fine message within the story.  It is a bit long but I felt worth the time to read.

    The Seed

A successful Christian business man was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business.

Instead of choosing one of his directors or his children, he decided to do something different. He called all the young executives in his company together.

He said, "It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO. I have decided to choose one of you. "The young executives were shocked, but the boss continued, "I am going to give each one of you a SEED today - one very special SEED. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have given you. I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next CEO" .

One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly, told his wife the story.
She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted the seed.  Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if it had grown.   After about three weeks, some of the other executives began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow.  Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew. Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing. By now, others were talking about their plants , but Jim didn't have a plant and he felt like a failure. Six months went by--still nothing in Jim's pot. He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Jim didn't say anything to his colleagues, however.  He just kept watering and fertilizing the soil - He so wanted the seed to grow.

A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company brought their plants to the CEO for inspection. Jim told his wife that he wasn't going to take an empty pot. But she asked him to be honest about what happened. Jim felt sick at his stomach, it was going to be the most embarrassing moment of his life, but he knew his wife was right. He took his empty pot to the board room.  When Jim arrived, he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other executives.  They were beautiful - in all shapes and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on the floor and many of his colleagues laughed, a few felt sorry for him!

When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young executives . Jim just tried to hide in the back. "My, what great plants, trees, and flowers you have grown," said the CEO. "Today one of you will be appointed the next CEO!" All of a sudden, the CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered the financial director to bring him to the front. Jim was terrified. He thought, "The CEO knows I'm a failure! Maybe he will have me fired!"
When Jim got to the front, the CEO asked him what had happened to his seed - Jim told him the story.

The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim, and then announced to the young executives, "Behold your next Chief  Executive!   His name is Jim!" Jim couldn't believe it. Jim couldn't even grow his seed. How could he be the new CEO the others said?

Then the CEO said, "One year ago today, I gave everyone in this room a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today.    But I gave you all boiled seeds; they were dead - it was not possible for them to grow. All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and flowers.

When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Jim was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new Chief Executive!"

    * If you plant honesty, you will reap trust
    * If you plant goodness, you will reap friends
    * If you plant humility, you will reap greatness
    *  If you plant perseverance, you will reap    contentment
    * If you plant consideration, you will reap perspective
    * If you plant hard work, you will reap success
    * If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation
    * If you plant faith in Christ, you will reap a harvest
So, be careful what you plant now; it will determine what you will reap later.

Two thousand years ago Paul wrote to the church at Galatia the same story but with fewer words, "What you sow, so shall you reap". (Gal. 6:7)
We are grass that will wither and die but the incorruptible seed of Gods Word will live forever - sow it daily into the life of your family!
    (1 Peter 1: 23 - 25)

Not much new in my neck of the woods. Beautiful Sunny day, I have walked the dogs. I went for a blood draw this morning and lo and behold the phlebotomist got me on the first try, no pain. I am very hard to get blood from, maybe I am a turnip. It was time for another cholesterol check this time there is a new Dr., in  the off I go to. My Dr. went to work for the Veterans clinic.

    Anyone hear from Pat????

Hi Hypergirl,  glad to have you.  Looking forward to seeing some pictures, enjoy browsing around the forums.

    Ruth Ann Bice

Greetings, Hypergirl, hope you enjoy being part of our fellowship. We look forward to seeing you.

Hi to everyone else, too. I, too, am worried about Judy McKenna. I believe that bad surgery was to take many hours, or at least it seems I read that somewhere. I certainly hope both she and her husband, and Pat, too, are doing well today.

It ws my first day back full time - a nice day filled with plenty to do (some of which carried over into tomorrow).

I'm really tired, so probably will retire soon.

Much love to all - prayers for you, Etta Sue. I truly pray that "pre" is the operative word here - often when growths are removed in a timely fashion, it's a very good choice the patient made. God bless you.

Y'all have  a very good remainder of the day.

    Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

    Carol

Etta Sue:  I feel like Etta Sue & that the best word is Pre on the growth.  You won't be able to talk for a long time so it will be a lifesaver for you to come in here and chat away.  Hugs

    Hello Hypergirl!!!Welcome

Pat:  Hello - I will try to check here in the morning.

We are driving to Cheyenne, Wyoming so Don will have a scan of his stomach area - nothing is wrong & they have never done this before.  This is the VA.

    Carol

    Nita

Hello all.  I just zipped in to see if we'd heard about Judy yet.

Hi, Hypergirl. :)   Welcome to Christian Photographers....from a Christian photographer who hasn't taken pics in a few days. :)   I need to take some more and post.

A beautiful day here but my grass is still wet.  I tried to mow and made wet, yucky, grass that the dogs didn't even want to walk in. (I'm glad since they're white)

Carol, you don't even know why they're doing the stomach scan on Don?  They should have told you something!  But sometimes we just go along and wait for an answer. haha.  I know.   I'm glad nothing is wrong so you don't have to worry.

Etta Sue, I, too, like the word, PRE.

    Blessings,  Nita

    Pat

    Hi Everyone...

I didn't see Judy at all today.  The surgery started at 8 am so we left here at about noon and headed right to the 5th floor to sit and wait....and wait....and wait some more.

Finally the surgeon came out at about 5:30 saying he had just left Judy and they were having a problem with her pain tolerance and so they were going to leave her in the Recovery Room for at least 5 more hours.

He replaced another hip on a lady between Judy and 5:30.  I think that Judy's surgery might have been over at about 2:30 pm

I have a funny feeling too that they were going to maybe keep her in the Recovery Room all night as she was in pretty rough shape.

The doctor says he rebuilt her pelvis and also took out the old "cup" which he gave to Norm.  It weighs about 1/2 lb and is rough steel and during the past 5 years, her other bones have actually worn a groove in this "cup" and he could hardly believe what he found.

He couldn't tell us if he managed to do what he wanted until they xray her and she's in too rough a shape to xray today.  So he will do that tomorrow and will be able to tell us more about his thoughts.

I took Norm home and got him in the house and made some phone calls for him and then told him not to answer the phone tonight and to try to get some sleep unless its the hospital and I'll be at his house in 5 minutes if necessary.

So, that's about all I can tell you.

I'm still using my puffers and feeling rough but this is important to be able to help out at a time such as this.

Thanks for the prayers and we'll pass them on to Judy when she can take them in.

Goodmorning before I head out the door to work.

Pat:  Norm & Judy sure need our prayers at this trying and difficult time.   I do remember them and yourself as I drive down the road.

Karma & Nards I think of you often as well.

We have a beautiful day the morning is cool and the sun is up what more can I ask for.

Prayers are for JudyMc to relieve her from the pain and for Norm and Pat for rest and understanding.  God Bless you all.

Nards, I just know you are doing super!  I am sure you are amazed at how well your 'new' heart is working.

Thanks to all who commented about my upcoming surgery. May 1!  Yeah, I like that 'pre' part of pre-cancerous growth, too.  But then he said, if it does turn out to be cancerous, I would only need radiation on my neck where my layrnx is.  I keep wondering how I am going to keep my mouth shut for a week.  Not hard to do at home...only talk to the cats but I don't want to be a shut in for a week either!  In fact, I have photography lessons, the 2nd, a high school musical to go to the 4th, a wedding the 5th, and a Bridal Shower the 6th.  After the 8th, I can try my voice out again!  I think I need to search the toy department for a small slate or do they still have those things that you use a stylus to write with and then you pull up the top sheet and it disappears?  That's what I need!

    And yes....when I can't talk...watch out.  I will post!!

    tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la

    Al Moak

God bless ya, Etta Sue, while your throat is healing!  And I pray He'll cause it to heal thoroughly so that you'll be able to talk normally.

We may be able to watch our grandaughter graduate this June up in Olympia, Wash.  Our son, whom I just got off the phone with, has lots and lots of points with Mariott, so we could get a free stay half way up, up there, half way down again.  So we're praying about all that.

    Liz

Rain again today.  I'm not sure if Spring has come and gone, or if it never arrived.  Looked sunny outside yest. and went out to sit in the garden, near froze from the cold wind!  Gardens are doing great.....people not so great :(

Sorry to learn about Etta Sue and all the others who are not well.  Woke up in the wee hours and did a little praying for everyone.  Not doing all the great on my medication....lots of side effects.  Wendy & Amanda not well either.....we dream about 70 F weather!

Read something that I found interesting.  There is a massive collapse of honey bee population in Nr. America and Europe.  They have discovered that radiation from cellphones is affecting the bee's homing abilities and their ability to communicate with each other.  Up to 90% of the bees in some areas have disappeared.  This puts all crops (veg. & fruit) at great risk.  Now I am not fond of wasps, do love the honey bees.  Einstein wrote that if bees disappear from our planet we won't last for many years.

Well, not getting out, leaves me with little to say.  Thought I would throw that in to fill the space.  Pat knows lots about bees....Pat, I loved that bird doing the two step.

I am amazed that doctors are actually helping Judy M.  Here in this province, they won't do anymore knee replacements on people over 80.  Not to mention, all the other things they won't do.  So if my knees are going to go, they best hurry up.

One of Wendy's good friends had their ID stolen.  Applied for a passport and that was the result.  Gov. contracts lots of the work out.....Now they will spend years trying to sort out the problem.  Average guess is at least several year.  They will also be subject to audits during that period.....and so it goes!

    Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

    Liz
CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

    JudyB

Liz that is terrible about wendy's ID.  There are so many horror stories wbout people with lost ID.

Etta Sue there are boards you can write on and there is a plastic covering that you lift and erase what you wrote.  You will have a difficult week especially with so much on.  Try ToysR Us, They may have them.

Alit must be so good to see your grand children graduate.  Congratulate her from all of us here.

Nita things ae wet here too.  But lots of wind and the wind is drying everything.  We are waiting for word on our lawn tractor.  We will be mowing next month....

Carol: Ask questions.   You deserve answers.  Sometimes the medical profession thinks they are God, and we need to gently remind them they aren't.  We have lost our family doctor.  He had too many patients for his liking so used a lottery system to get rid of some .. It is disappointing to be downgraded to a lottery ticket, especially when we don't gamble.  Oh Well time passes so will this.

Got to go,  I am continuing to pray for Nards and Judy, as well as the rest of the needs eaach person has.  God knows them.  Pat take care, and get some rest.

    Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Had another busy day and it is approaching evening.  I need to work this evening and tomorrow afternoon on the material for the lesson I will give on using the computer to a friend on Friday.  I am also doing another lesson on Thursday with the organist from church.  However, I really know of nothing to prepare as such since she just needs some basic help as is pretty much a novice.  She wanted to learn what she wanted to learn so wasn't interested in our Computer Center classes.  The other friend has already had the classes but needs more help and some very detailed documention and that is what takes a lot of time on my part to prepare.

Glad the surgery is over for Judy but that just sounds terrible.  Hope she was feeling a little better today.  Pat, I know that waiting hour after hour can be so tough.

    Welcome hypergirl16.

Going to be brief today as have a lot of things I need to be working on and was gone for most of the day.

Came back to see if any news about Judy M. and read the posts.  Thanks Judy B, but thankfully it was a good friend of Wendy and not her.  The kids have had passports for a number of years and are okay.

In Victoria, the lines for passports are so bad that people are paying homeless people to stay in line for them.  I kid you not!  Have heard many horrible tales about what is happening and I guess stolen ID is only a small part of things. This is happening because our personal data is no longer secure and outside gov. contracts only makes things worse.

I'm home!  We got here about 6:30 this evening.  It was raining so hard in Nebraska we could barely see the road, so we were relieved when we finally drove out of it.

I have read all the posts, cannot respond to all or it would be a novel length post. But I have or will pray for all the needs I read about.

It's been a long day, and I'm headed to bed.  There is a funeral in the morning which I feel I should attend.

Good news on Don's ct scans - no build up of plaque or obstructions.  Really, he doesn't have many complaints but the VA doctor said it would be good to have this in his records.  We didn't come back on the freeway but took an old road all because of wind and snowy conditions.

Nita:  Thank you for your concern.  Everything looks OK this check-up.  I always marvel at the kindness the entire staff at the VA hospital shows to all the patients.  They are so sweet and really caring.

JudyB:  Hi - You mentioned a little while back that you were sewing - a dress for one of the girls?  How is it going?  I don't sew any clothes anymore - just quilt and did make myself a huge tote bag.  Sometimes, I mend but even that is a rare happening anymore.

Pat:  I hope you are sleeping well tonight.  Take care.

    Carol

Hi Janet:  It sounds like you need a good night's sleep as well.

    karmat

Hi everyone.  Real quick post.  Travis has strep, again, but Bernard doesn't. :/  Again, thanks for all of your prayers and support.  They really mean a lot.

    Welcome hypergirl!

Etta, that has to be kinda scary, but we can trust God, if we can't do anything else.  I can't imagine not being able to talk for a week.

Hope the dawn finds Judy doing well, and in less pain.  I'm so sorry she is having to go through this. :(  We will continue to pray!

    Pat

Just a very quick post.  I'm very, very tired and must get rid of this virus as well.

We saw a much more relaxed Judy today.  I fed her supper to her and she ate about 1/3 of it which I felt was good for having such major surgery yesterday.  The doctor came in and after the xrays, he feels happy about his job.  He had to rebuild completely her pelvic area and the hip and she has a very long rod in her upper leg bone.

Tomorrow they are going to get her standing!!!!!

On May 1, hopefully, she will be transferred to the Guelph Hospital which will be much easier for Norm and me.

Then as soon as she's ready for rehab, she'll be transferred to the St. Joseph's hospital here which she enjoys very much.

Anyway, I really MUST get some sleep.  I'm sitting here yawning away as I'm typing.

That's really good news, Pat.  I pray she heals quickly now. :)

Carol, when my husband was alive, we traveled to the VA Hospital in another town for Ron's care.  The waiting time was always so awful, as Ron was in pain from sitting, but once we saw the doctor...well, I feel as you...they were always so kind and attentive to him.

Marilyn, I'm headed to look at your pictures now.

    Blessings, Nita

Carol about the sewing.  I got Elizabeth's dress done and Kassie has a skirt (twirling) then I found a taffeta @ $ 1.98 a meter, so made her a matching blouse, she put the skirt on and twirled and we could see her underclothes so I made her a pair of panties to match the blouse.  I also was able to complete an outfit for my grandson, a jacket, pants and T shirt.  I have a button up shirt with all left is the button holes, when my machine quit.  I need to take it in and get it fixed, but need to wait a couple of pays so I can budget it in.

Karma Where does Travis catch the strep?  Am praying for your family.

Pat rest today.  Heavy schedule behind you so take it easy.

I need to scoot.  A lot to do.  I am praying for the needs represented here.

    Have a good day everyone.

I forget who mentioned, JudyB maybe, about the board with a clear plastic to raise and erase for me when I can't talk.  I think those were called Magic Slates.  But I am going to look for one before next Tuesday.  Also I remembered I have Call Forwarding so the week I can't talk, I will forward my phone calls to Ivalou's home phone or cell phone.  Got that covered!

Today is I.U. at Bloomington day.  But Nancy said if we get the three inches of rain that is predicted we aren't going.  It is cloudy here and damp but not raining.  I don't think that Walter has a therapy session today...just a pitch-in because it is the last session of the college year.  Then he will continue with the summer school students.  Edit:  Nancy just called.  We are going to I.U.

Got go.  Things to do before leaving today.

The weather is not so hot, but it is a good day anyway.  Amanda got her marks from university today.  All B's and B plus, so that she is well on her way in the art world.

Lots of work to do today, so best get busy before the virus bites again.
Janet, how is Beth doing since the loss of her pet?  I can't help but be concerned and sad for her.

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

    nards656

Hello, all, just checking in.  :)

I really don't know how in the world I am doing.  Some days good, some days not as good.  Nausea, random pain, a few odd heartbeats every now and then, etc.  Still got some strange activity with my eyes, and the buzzing in my ears seems more active.  THAT could be from LOTS of Ibuprofen lately, along with some of the other meds.  Yak yak, enuff about me, I guess, but I REALLY appreciate the continued prayers.  For some reason, God has seen fit to bring me through some very rough times to THIS point, and I just need His help and grace to deal with the stuff that remains...

To all of you who are hurting and dealing with medical problems, helping others, or whatever, I pray for a special touch.  Judy M, wow.  God bless you with a quick recovery.  Etta Sue, hang in there.  We're praying for you.  Pat, the strength of God be with you.

JudyB - We have no idea where Travis got strep.  He's actually "gotten" it twice within two weeks!  (It's probably a "recurrence", but you know what I mean).  Terribly hard on him with beautiful weather outside!!!
I survived open heart surgery.... :)

Check out my blog at www.bernardshuford.com.

    Janet

Liz, Beth is feeling pretty depressed since her little dog was killed.  She is expressing it in lots of negativism, which is not easy to deal with, but I hope she will rebound soon.  Her condition is still going downhill.  If she weren't on the Reliv products, I don't know where she would be by now.  I hope you're feeling better now.

Hi, Nards!  Good to "see" you!  And you keep on getting better and better, and give my love to poor Travis.  He will be better soon, too.

I attended the funeral this morning for a 54 year old mother of four, two still at home.  She is the mother of my nephew's former significant other, and they have two little girls, my sister's only grandchildren.  Velda had a stroke 2 1/2  years ago, and never got able to talk coherently or able to do things again.  So sad.

Good to hear that Judy Mc's surgery is over and hopefully got great results.  Now, Pat, try to take care of yourself, okay?

Etta Sue, not talking for a week will be a real challenge, for sure!!  I think I might have to put tape over my mouth to remind me!  But you will do good, won't you?

I'm sleepy, think I might go lie in my recliner and see if a little nap steals up on me.  ;)
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

    Pat

Thanks for all the good wishes for Judy.

I'm passing them on to her.

When we left last night, the doctor said that they were going to have her standing on her legs today!  I can't believe it but he's a wonderful surgeon and sure knows what he's doing.

Nice to see you posting Nard.  Actually after Jack had his bypass surgery, there were several times that a big depression came over him and the doctor said that this was quite normal.  So hang in there sweetie.

I guess I missed reading about Beth's dog, Janet.  That's so sad.

Etta Sue, will be thinking of you.

Liz, I must mention about the bees that you brought up.  I've heard that they are desperately looking for the cause here at the University of Guelph and it sure will be terrible if they can't find out.

    karmat

hey, nards was in here.  Woooppeee.  I'm trying to encourage him to start getting "back to normal" but I don't want to cross the encouragement/nagging line.  He does seem kinda discouraged right now, and I think it is because he is wanting to be better, and the body is taking its own sweet time.  Right now, he is watching a DVD with Tom and Jerry cartoons.  This is probably the 10th or so time Trav has seen it, and he is laughing hysterically.  It's so funny to listen to.  As far as where he is getting strep, like Bernard said, we have no idea.  He is not in daycare or preschool, and he hasn't been around anyone that has had it.  He was diagnosed the Monday before Bernard's surgery.  Took a "run" of antibiotics.  Was finished with them for like a day and a half, and got the crazy thing again.  He's on a stronger medicine this time, and it seems to be working.

It was beautiful today.  Warm, sunny.  Maybe Spring has sprung.  Now, if the trees will just get some leaves. :)

I loved the good news/bad news thing.  That was hilarious.

Take care, and have a good evening

    Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Just back from choir practice.

I was suppose to give the church organist a lesson tomorrow on using her computer.  However, when I told her tonight what I would charge she decided maybe she should take the class at the Computer Learning Center as I had encouraged her to do as it would be much less expensive than having a private tutor.  I was actually relieved.  It would have been nice to have a little extra change from the lessons but don't mind not doing them at all.  Fortunately I had not spent anytime preparing as she was starting from scratch and I was just going to interact with what she wanted to learn.  I will still give the lesson on Friday but that will be just for an hour at a time and she has had the basics.  I have spent about 5 hours in prepared a very detailed and illustrated lesson for her as she has had a stroke in the past and has trouble retaining information like this.

So glad to read that Judy is doing so much better and will be standing some.  That will certainly help her recovery.

Nards, you will probably notice that your emotions will be closer to the surface.  That has certainly been my experience.  You have gone through a major surgery and that has been quite a trauma to your body.  Give yourself some slack.  You have also had a lot of different medication.   Good to see you posting.  Sorry to read that Travis has streep again.

Janet, glad to see you back safe and sound.

I have read all the posting but it is late so good night.

    Janet

I hope everyone has a great Thursday.

I'm off to bed now.  (Yes, I do sometimes do more than sleep.)  ;)

This has been quite a day.  Busy betond belief.  I hope tomorrow slows down.

There is a concert tomorrow at the local school.  as friend of the family is a rappest, and I found out those who rap are actually close to being balladers.   They have a story to tell, and even though er can't follow what is being said this guy has shown me all the words, and boy are they good.  On target spiritually and doctrinally.  The concert is $5.00 per girl so that will be a birthday present for Elizabeth.

Well it is late, I need some rest.

I'm awfully late, too, tonight. My hand made me rest before I got back on the computer here at home.

Still praying for all our requests. Tomorrow's prep day for the colonoscopy on Friday. Will work at the office 1/2 day, but when I have to begin taking medicines and drinking that yukky stuff, I think I'll get online through the company's secure link option and work from home tomorrow afternoon.

    Y'all have a good evening.

Another cousin and husband arrive this afternoon so I am going to get an easy dinner ready - perhaps meatloaf.  He loves potatoes with every meal & I don't have any in the house but will make a ham au gratin potato casserole for a side dish & he can eat all of it.  Trying not to buy too many groceries as we leave on Tuesday hopefully for a trip to Montana first then the ocean and Seattle.  Son's place in Montana.

Nita:  I know that you have mentioned Ron going to the VA before.  The other day when Don was pumping gasoline in the car, a scruffy panhandler came up to him rather brazen & kept insisting on handing over money - Don gave him 75 cents in change & I almost panicked thinking the man might have a gun - dreams of this or rather nightmares.  Anyway, I have been thinking of what it might be to be alone & I just couldn't handle it.  You are so brave.

Judy B:  The girls must be thrilled.  I have seen matching underwear on dance  dresses - so that is a nice idea.  Sure hope that you get your machine fixed soon - any chance of you finding a great price on a used machine?

Liz:  Sorry that you are not feeling up to par.  It must help to hear that Amanda has come through with super grades  :)

    Now, to get cracking!

Carol I too am alone and not afraid of  pretty much anything. I walk home in the dark from church occasionally, all the time when the weather is warm.I have left my house unlocked many times at night with no fear. " For God did not give me a spirit of fear but one of power love and a sound and diciplined mind" , and God is not a man that He should lie but does what he sends His word out to do. so many times the Bible says be not afraid for I am with you. Take God at His word.  Ephesians 6: 10-17 Put on the Armor of God.

    Ok I'll quit preaching.

Praying here for those who need prayer. Etta Sue be not afraid God is in control of everything.

    Hi all!

I am not afraid of this surgery.  I have more confidence in the surgeon doing what is needed than I have confidence in myself to keep my mouth shut afterwards!!

I did purchase a Magic Writer.  You write on it with a stylus and then erase it by sliding a thing at the bottom across...like imprinting credit cards the old way.  I don't think I will carry it in the chapel when my g-niece gets married.  It is kind of conspicuous...bright red and yellow and about 12" x 15".  But I will take it into the reception and the next day to the Bridal Shower of another g-niece.

Nards ~ I remember my husband after his heart attack...if I said, Let's go north.  He would say, No, we are going south.  Everything I said, he wanted to be opposite.  I finally called the doctor and he said to take the Valium away from Bud.  Within hours after stopping the Valium, I had my Bud back.  And he became stronger and confident each day.  It's natural for a man to get upset because he can't do what he used to do.  But your body will let you know what those boundaries are.

Carol ~ Us widows do what we have to do.  My friend, Jerry, tried to make me feel fearful and I told him that I wasn't going to live in fear.  So but out!!  I, too, have gotten up in the morning to find my house keys in the door on the outside or simply left unlocked.  My back door was wide open for over a week last summer.  My only fear so far was the religious people that if my door hadn't have been locked, he would have opened my door!  My garage is detached and about 50 steps away from my door.  Never have a fear of walking to the house late at night.

I need to go to the bank and the pharmacy.  I was going to call Ivalou and see if she would like to go with me and then eat somewhere but she called me first, telling me she was leaving to work at a funeral dinner at her church today.  Kitty is in Ohio.  I think I will call Judy...my classmate.

    God Bless You All!

I'd like to ask y'all for prayer for wisdom and insight into a problem of sorts.  Recent developments with my leg (left) swelling have necessitated my parking in our layback chair with a stool or what not out in front of it in order to put my leg up at least that much.  I must not sit with my feet down and knees bent for longer than, say, an hour (or at the most two).  That basically means no long driving stints.  This is going to mean we can't drive up to Olympia, WA to see our grands, etc., 'cause that's about 5 hours.  Besides, there's no facility for getting the leg up when I do get there.  This is all quite disappointing,  because our second granddaughter is graduating with honors from highschool this June.  We'd love to be there, but it looks like we can't.  Either I need new and improved ideas on how to do it, or we're going to be staying here.

Sure good to see Nards posting here!  Please don't ever think you are a bother from posting too much!  I now pray that Judy M will be able to do the standing/walking thing without problems.  Oh may she be relieved from some of her troubles of recent times!

And, finally, I also pray for our Pat, that she'll finally get completely over this virus or whatever.

    Larry Hanna

    Hi everyone.

We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of some rain in our State.  We are quickly approaching a very serious drought situation and in South Georgia we have had terrible forest fire that has raged for days and burned up close to 20 homes.  It was threatening the entire town of Waycross, GA.

Al, sorry to hear of your continued leg problems and that you may not be able to make the trip to see your granddaughter graduate.  You have to listen to your body.

Etta Sue, it sounds like you are getting everything set.  I think I know what you are talking about with the magic slate.  Too bad they don't have the little cardboard one where you pulled up the plastic sheet to clear it as they were nice and light.  As I recall the red ones are pretty good sized but it has been several years since I have seen one so maybe they have changed them.

Marilyn, I admire your trust in not locking your door but I just don't feel that safe.  We are having home breakins around here even when the people are at home.  I have a screen door on my front door and it has a little lock but I don't feel comfortable having the door open after dark or if I am not in the room.  Years ago we were robbed while we were away in the early evening and I just believe it is prudent for me to keep my doors locked and my garage door down.

Carol, I read about your trip on the SeniorNet website.  It sounds like you have a wonderful trip planned and your weeks in Montana should be quite restful.  We can all use an occasional break from our routine.

Ruth Ann, don't envy you but what you are doing is very important.  I am scheduled for a physical in a couple of months and wonder if my doctor will feel it is time for me to have that exam.

JudyB, hope your day today isn't quite as hectic as you indicated yesterday was.  The school concert sounds interesting.

Think it is time to rest for awhile this afternoon.

G'mornin to y'all from a bright sunny Oregon coast!   :)

I have been around for the past few daze but just didn't let y'all know about it!  I have been reading, with interest, all your comments and health problems and reports as well as prayer requests.  (Al that is really a disappointment for you unless you can come up with a good solution -- a miracle, maybe?)

I just thought I'd weigh in on the living alone issue.  I, too, live alone.  I don't even have any four legged, furry kids living with me.  I seldom lock my doors either.  I figure if I should be sick or hurt and needing assistance whoever came would need to get in ... can't have the door locked in that situation, now could I?   :-\  Anyway, as Marilyn and Etta Sue have already mentioned, I have no fear because I know my Father is here with me and He keeps me in perfect peace....

Okay, I lock the doors when I go away .... but a couple people know where the key is so, in case of emergency, they can get in.

Guess I'd best get on with the rest of my day here.  I was thinking about cleaning up some of the scruffiness in the yard and maybe putting down some more bark in the bare spots afterwards.

My neighbor has rebuilt his porch and cut the used boards into 15" lengths for my stove ... he is now pulling shingles off the side of his place and will bring them over for me to use for kindling.  (He's going to replace them with siding.)

I thank God for good neighbors and friends.   <3   :)
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hi, friends, Just taking a breater for a moment to come here and "listen."

I didn't own a house key for the first 16 years after my husband died, but did put on locks and use them faithfully, since I, too, was robbed.

I still go and come at any hour of the day or night without fear, for the Bible tells me "Behold, he that keepeth Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps." I figure if I put my trust in my Heavenly Father who not only doesn't sleep, but also doesn't take naps, then He'll take care of me.

Y'all have a good afternoon - I've gotta get back online with my work - as usual, an emergency project to do.

    Ruth Ann

    Y'all have a good day.

Hi, Carol.  When I read your comment on being alone, and being brave, I thought "there are many women on here who are alone".  And sure enough, some of them spoke up.

I'm seldom alone.  I have my sister here every weekend. Two of my children are near, and one is here most every day.  And I do have my two "boys". :)

I do lock my doors at night, but for some reason, not when I go to town. haha

I'm sure if you come to a place where you needed to be alone, God would give you the strength and a brave heart. :)

Beautiful day here.  Lots of sunshine.  I was going to mow, but ended up taking my son to see the doc. Seems he has a bleeding ulcer.  He has to go for an upper GI next week.  His favorite foods are spicy and hot.  That has to change for sure.

Interesting on the unlocked doors, etc.  I figure that even if I have all the doors/windows locked - and any number of other security devices going - still, if a thief or worse wanted to badly enough, he could get in.  It's like driving.  I try to drive according to the law and take all the safety precautions, but I know I'm still not safe - no matter what I do.  The Lord is my ONLY safety - and always will be.  And He's my security.  But I believe He WANTS me to drive safely and lawfully for His sake, so I do.  And I buy and use security devices for the home for the same reason.  When I forget, or when I goof up and drive wrongly - the Lord keeps me.  Praise the Lord ALONE!

I have a security system on my house for the doors only.  Sometimes I set it before going to bed...sometimes I don't.  Sometimes I set it when I leave...sometimes I don't.  I have a chain lock on my side door but have never used it.  If the back outside and front outside doors are locked and I have the chain on the side door, even with a key, no one can get in.  Ivalou has a key for my house.  My son and Kitty knows where my key is hidden outside.  I just feel safe here in my little house.

Ivalou called me last night and said she has to take back a movie to Blockbuster's for Barb, my SIL.  They left this morning for Michigan and the movie needed to be returned today.  I don't know why they couldn't have drove 7 miles out of their way to return the movie to the drop box but Ivalou and I went out for breakfast and then put the movie in the drop box.  Also Ivalou was told to get their paper and mail.  Not asked but told!  I think they owe Ivalou big time!!  All winter she walked to their drive and got the paper.  And when they are home from Florida and leave, she gets the paper and the mail...been home 2 weeks and this is the second time going to Michigan already!

    Thanks for letting me vent!!

Dark and dreary today and the high to be 55°.  Tomorrow suppose to be sunny and 72°!!

Good Morning Samantha, good to see you posting here again.

We seem to have lost quite a few of those who used to come visiting every day. Or even just frequently. What happened to everyone? Anybody know? Hey y-all we miss ya!  Come back!

Not a whole lot on my agenda today. Go to work, come home about 1 pm walk the dogs, and check the mail and email, Go back to work at 4 until 5:30. I may wash my car,  I may use the weed wacker in the back yard (it sure needs it). Then again I may wait until tomorrow to do that. I also need to shampooo my carpets sometime soon. and vacuum out my car. These are all on my todo list but I don't know when I will get around to them.

Good Morning everyone.   It is a damp cold morning.  The kind of day you could curl up in front of a fire with a blanket and read.  I am needing to visit the church library  again as I am out of reading material.

John will be home tomorrow.  It is Elizabeth's Birthday today, and we are taking her to Pizza Hut on Sunday.  That is I think her favourite place to eat out in.  The girls had an amazing time at the concert.  The group singing was on the radio just before we dropped them off, and that is when we knew the music would be really uplifting.

I am wanting to build an outdoor pond.  I have a waterbed bladder for it, I just need help digging.  With that in mind guess what I dreamed of last night!  The finished product of the pond.  I need to get a pump, and some sand to line the hole I am to dig.  Next good day I will start.  I fully expect to find muscles I don't know I have!!!

Got to go, Pat how is Judy?

    Janet

    Good morning.

Darrel isn't feeling well, has a fever and his legs hurt, for the second day already.  We had plans for tonight and tomorrow night, but may just be staying home.  Tonight for sure I want to go---were planning to go to Moscow to listen to grandson Curtis DJ, and have supper.

Lots to do today, my scrapbooking group are meeting with me here tomorrow as the library has something else booked.

    Hi everyone.

We ended up yesterday without much rain in our area and today is really nice with low humidity and the pollen count is now down to 54.

I am just back from giving my friend a computer lesson on how to use Word.  It went very well and we plan another lesson next week continuing with what we started today.

My wife hasn't felt very good most of this week and this morning has some dizziness so is taking it easy today.

Janet, sorry to hear that Darrel is not feeling well.

JudyB, that outside pond sounds like a lot of work but should be nice when you get it done.

Marilyn, the nice thing about being retired or at least semi-retired is that if we decide not to do something today it can be done on another day.

Etta Sue, sometimes people do begin to take us for granted but this happens only if we allow it.  I have this characteristic that I would probably try very hard to do something for someone if they asked me would I help.  I react very negatively when I am told I have to do something or someone assumes that I have to do something, because I don't.

    Morning Samantha and Al.

Nita, I remember long ago when my father had an attack from a bleeding ulcer.  He literally was on the floor in pain--vivid memory.  Fortunately I think they have some good medications today to treat ulcers.

Ruth Ann, when I was growing up on the farm no one locked their doors and we left the keys in the car.  We also had a big gasoline tank for Dad to fuel the tractor that was very visable to the road.  We never lost anything.  We no longer have the same type of society especially when you live in a high density populated area.  I don't live in fear but do believe in using the tools I have at hand to be prudent in protecting my wife and I.

Jane, that is certainly nice of your neighbor to give you the kindling and wood for your fire.  Good to see you posting.

Lunch is finsihed and think it is time for a nap.

    JudyB

Janet Praying for Darrel.  Too bad about the timing....Sad.

Etta Sue it is so easy to in the trap of being taken for granted.  Family knows you don't mind and thus the trap begins....Often without the offender even knowing that what they say comes across as ordering.  Perhaps this should be mentioned to them and then give it time to sink in.  When we open our hearts to others we are in both the safest place to be, as well as the most dangerous.  Our hearts are so easily crushed especially when we are accused of something we are innocent of.  Perhaps Ivalou needs to tell them how she is feeling.

Larry I am sorry about your wife net being well.  I am praying for her as well.  You are always so busy.  How did you ever find time to work?

Marilyn take adventage of the easier time you are having.... you never know when things get hectic again.

About the locking doors issue.  I can go months here and never lock the doors.  Not of the car or the house.  We live in the boonies and everyone knows everyone else.  But when we lived in the city I never locked the doors either.  I figure if I have something that someonr wants it's better they take it without wrecking doors or windows.  I have never had anything stollen.   Mind you I have always had a dog and that warns people off.  John's mom and dad on the otherhand lock everything as early as sundown, that is if they don't keep everything locked up all day.  Different perception.

I am a little listless today, an old problem has cropped up and I am taking it easy.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Praise be to God's goodness.

No cancer, no polyps. The colonoscopy did show a few age-related problems like irritable colon, diverticulitis, and internal and external hemorrhoids - all things that can be managed.

How good to know the peace that Jesus gives, and to also now have peace about my health. I'm certain the doctor will determine how to get my red blood cells to grow and then, things should be fine.

Y'all have a good day. I'm still groggy, so am going to take a long nap, methinks!

Well I did take the dogs for their walks and washed my car.  That is enough for today. I stopped a the  Kebab shop and bought some Gyro meat and sauce. Geez  ½ lb was $7.00 but it is sure good. and already cooked. That is pronounced "yearoh" in Turkish/Greek.

I have to do some shopping for my client this evening to make sure she has enough stuff for the weekend, I am also going to use the curling iron on her hair to touch it up so it will be nice for Sunday when her DIL takes her to the Interfaith Gospel choir prayer breakfast and concert. Her son will be out of town for a few days on some Masonic business.

Janet I hope Darrell is feeling better. There is some terrible flu going around lately that is very bad in the stomach with lots of vomiting. People here have had to got to the hospital, some from my church had  it come back Ont hem a 2nd time. That seems to be thee way this type of flu does. I am so glad I got my flu shot and take preventative herbals. Praise the Lord.

    Go to go now.

    Hello all!

Bernard is now off of his pain medicine, so he is hurting. :/ BUT, he is trying to keep a really good outlook, and is quite the trooper.

We had to put Bingo, our cat, down this morning.  She had a huge knot come up on her leg/back just before Bernard's surgery, and it was huge and she could barely walk.  Also, she was almost 9 or 10 years old and acted like she felt completely miserable.  kinda sad.  Leave it to the 5 yo to give you perspective, though.  He said, "It's sad.  but, it is sadder when a human dies."  I understand that for some (and some of you), your animals are as important in some ways as your children, so you may not agree with him.   I'm an animal lover, but not quite that much. ;)

I hope everyone has a wonderfully, exuberantly awesome weekend!!

    love,
    karmat

Karmat, I'm an animal lover, as you know...but I would never keep an animal alive and miserable.  We had a cat with a knot on her jaw, and it was probably cancerous, the vet said.  We could have put her through lots of expensive test, even treated it, kept her alive, but in pain.  I said no.  Sometimes letting go is the very best you can do for an animal.  When we adopt a pet we become  caretaker and pack leader,(for my critters) we also take the responsibility of making life decisions.  That's where we differ in how we care for humans. :)  God makes life decisions for humans, but he gave us the earth and all created beings lower than humans to care for.  That's my uneducated take on the whole thing. LOL

Sunshine today.  I got the lawn mowed. YES!!  It looks so nice.  Lilacs and fruit trees are in bloom.

    Blessings,  nita

    JudyB

Karma Sad about the cat....I do agree with Travis.  My pets are family, but there comes a time when you have to do the humane thing.  Each of our animals have a specific purpose.  2 cats as mousers 2 dogs as brood dogs and one little gal who has seen me through the toughest of days.

I am heading to bed very soon.  Back tomorrow.

    Love to all

Well it is late but I had to tell you about a bit of excitement we had tonight.

The girls let the dogs out and I let them back in when I closed down the 'puter.  Dana the Doberman was rubbing at her mouth so I took a closer look and she hadd a mouth full of porcupine quills.  I called the girls for help Kass got the pliers and I held Dana's mouth open and she just lay there taking all the abuse of pulling out the quills.  There were a couple in her tongus and some on the roof of her mouth,, The poor girl didn't even flinch!  When we had all the quills out she was almost asleep at my feet.  I gave her a pet and she started licking my hands.  This dog doesn't lick, at all...  She then had a treat and to bed.  I can't get over how placid she was as we pullrd at the quills.  Some were really stuck.

Well that was my excitement for the night,  Now off to bed.

    Hi everyone.

Have a few minutes before leaving for coffee this morning.  The man I pickup each day to take to coffee is buying breakfast for everyone of our group that is at the cafe this morning.  He has come into some unexpected money (his own) from his retirement that was qualified and had to be paid out two years after he retired.  We have a meeting to attend today but think the rest of the day will be uneventful, at least I hope.

Ruth Ann, glad to read that the news was good from your test and hope your blood problem will be quickly fixed.

    Time to headout.

JudyB, that poor dog and she obviously realized you were helping her.

Karmat, I feel for your family about having to put your cat down.  We had to do that a few months ago and have to admit we all shed a few tears but knew he wasn't going to live and didn't want him to suffer.  We had had him for 13 or 14 years.  It sounds like you and Nards are instilling proper values for your children to understand that pets are not people.  I hope the pain isn't too severe for Bernard.  Perhaps each day he will find it lessens.

Nita, glad you were able to get your yard mowed.  I expect the grass grows quickly and thickly in your area.

Marilyn, glad that you enjoyed the Gyro.  Some of this meat at the supermarkets or speciality stores are getting pretty pricey.

    Janet

Good morning from sunny Kansas, where the temp is supposed to get up into the 80s today.

Thank our wonderful God, Darrel is much improved this morning.  I took him to the doctor yesterday, as he was stumbling around and dizzy.  Dr. said he had a virus, nothing to do but wait it out.  He gave him a script for anti-nausea med but we didn't get it filled, as he wasn't nauseous.  After we got home, Darrel took his sugar reading and it was the highest it had EVER been!  Then he realized he had neither eaten nor taken his meds for two days.  The lesson in that for me is that when he isn't feeling well I will have to take the responsibility of making sure he eats and takes his pills.  He has always been very independent, not needing help, but things do change as we grow older.  We need each other even more.  Anyhow, I'm delighted he's on the mend.  Says he may even feel like attending the Senior Citizens Prom tonight.

I went last night (after making sure Darrel was doing better) to Moscow to hear/see Curtis doing Karaoke.  He and his Dad get a big kick out of singing silly songs together, and the small crowd there enjoyed them, too.  There was pretty good participation in the singing.  I left early and came on home.

Ruth Ann, I'm praising God with you for your good report and still praying about the other things mentioned.  Glad you have the weekend to (I hope) rest and recover.

Larry, enjoy your breakfast with your buddies.  I'm sure you are very good company.

Pat, how are  you?  How are Judy and Norm?  You are one who needs to rest and recover, for sure!  I went to your Picture a Day and enjoyed the photos there.

I must go see if it's warm enough in my studio for scrapbooking and card making.  Later, I have to go take Beth and Gloria to a wedding.  One of the nurse aids at the home is getting married and she invited them.  They are so excited!

Karma, our old cat is also 13 or 14 years old.  We notice he is starting to move more slowly, but so far, his health seems good.  Travis sure got it right, and good for you as parents.  Those values are important.  It really gets to me when I hear animal rights people saying the life of a rat is just as valuable as the life of a child, or other stupid nonsense.  :clobber:

Have a happy Saturday!  (Or whatever kind you want to have.  ;)).

Janet, I couldn't agree more about the animal rights people.  They are willfully ignorant of the fact that both the animals and the humans are the property of the sovereign Lord God, and that same God has made us humans the keepers of the rest of His creation - we should care for it in His Name.  We humans are so valuable to Him that He gave His only-begotten Son for their salvation.  That puts humans at the very top of the list in my estimation.  It it gives them also the responsibility to decide the welfare of the other living creatures.  We ought to mimic Him in kindness to all creatures, but we may also decide which ones need to live, etc.  I do not (thought my aunt did) say to the fly I swat, "Sorry dear!"  And to me it's ok to leave poison out for the ants, etc.  I am responsible only to God in how I treat all animate and inanimate creatures.

    Marilyn

JudyB do you breed your dog every time she is in season, or only once per year. A bitch can get totally worn out very quickly if she is bred every time she is in season.  they have a better quality of life if only bred once per year. According to the vet, I had who bred Rotts, when I was breeding Red Dobies.

Good Morning everyone. I am not doing much today. I have done a load of laundry and will go do some recycling later as well. I hope to get around to mowing and weed whacking the yard this afternoon.

Of course the dogs are number one on my list to get their walks. I am trying to keep them healthy and to lose  some of the weight they have gained by feeding them 1 cup of kibble with 2 tablespoons of veggies and 1 tablespoon of wet dog food on top for breakfast,  1 ½ cups of kibble for supper.  In between their meals they get baby carrots, and 1 dog cookie broken in pieces and divided between them  for treats.

;)  Hi to all.  I have finally got back to reading all the post's which I have missed.  My wife and I seemed to have been busy going all over the place and to many doctor's appointments.  I have had these feeling's in my chest very close to my heart which started one week from today.  I went to the doctor yesterday and he gave me a complete check up plus a E.C.G. and thank the Lord that there was nothing showing up on that.  But next week I have to go for more test's  So could you please pray that the Lord will see fit to answer them in what ever his will is for this situation.  My wife also still needs your prayer's as she is still haveing lots of medical problems.  I am not sure if I told you before but a word of praise for many things also.  We are going to be grandparents one baby in Sept and one in Nov.
I also was granted my disabillaty pension which helps with the finances praise his nam for these things.

PAT:  Your devotional about prayer was excellant and much needed and also will remember your request's for Judy and her Husband.  Please don't do to much or you will have no strength again.  God bless. <3

AL: Thank you for your beautiful prayer that you offered for Judy.  I am sorry to here about your leg problem and will be remembering you also in our prayers.  Thank you for your devotional for today.

LARRY: I could not agree more more about Mr. Tozer and what you said. Hope that you are looking after yourself.  The story about the seed's was excellent.

ETTA SUE:  I agree about the brick as my wife has done this before. Look after yourself also the blood pressure was likely high because of what she had told you. Just continue to keep trusting in Him.  God Bless you.

KARMET / NARD'S.  It seem's that so many men when they have had a major surgery that when they go home that they think they can get back into what they were doing before not possible. Nard's just let the Lod do the healing and you will be suprised how things go. Karmat please don't  work to hard and then you will get sick so both of you take it easy.

JANET/ DARREL:  I am glad to here that your husband is a bit better today and I hope that you are also o.k.  My sister-in-law had to do the same as what yo are going to have to do with regard's to making sure that your husband eats at the proper time.  Even I find if I don't eat at the proper time I feel weird.  Look after yourselves.

NITA: Just to say hi and hope that you are well. From Canada just near Niagara falls.

Marilyn, your dogs eat healthier than I do. :)

Janet, I hope Darrell gets to feeling better.  I've alos noticed that I have to "take care" of Bernard sometimes, now.  It's kind of weird as he was always the one who never forgot anything and had a mind like a steel trap.  I suspect when all of the pain meds wear off (he's no longer taking anything) and he gets to feeling better, it will improve.

Right now, we are heading to Maggie Valley to see some Harleys.  They are having a "Rally in the Valley."

Marilyn  There is great disagreement amoung vets about the frequency of breeding.  I breed only for 5 years.....The vet I deal with said to breed every heat.  I don't but only because I don't want winter babies.  Dana is over 2 years old and we have missed 3 heats due to timing.  I believe she is going to have puppies as her tummy is filling out, Will know better in about 3 more weeks.

Karma Yes meds can do that....cause memory fogginess, especially pain meds.  I am continuing to pray.

Gord Be careful about that heart problem  It could be as simple as a panic attack.... or as serious as an impending heart attack.  I am praying that you find the reason soon and are able to move on.  Let Noreen know I pray for her also.  I miss seeing her, and having tea together.

Well John will be home soon, I am going to meet him and will get a few groceries at the same time.  I have supper ready, soup and tea biscuits, so there will be no fussing, we can eat as soon as we walk in.

    Bye for now

It has been a dull and dreary day here as well but that is the season, soon we will be cutting the grass so that will be our next complaint, grass and more grass.

Janet: It would be nice if you lived closer then you would be able to share & teach me your scrap booking.
Janet: Say hello to Beth for me.

Al: It would be nice if you also lived closer and I would be able to learn more computor stuff.

Etta Sue:   I do not know what or how I would keep my mouth shut for a week but you could be sure my family would love it.

For everyone that is not well I do think of you all.

I went to visit a friend for lunch and had a lovely time of sharing.

Time to get dinner ready and eat before it gets too late in the day.

Hello all you good people!  I so appreciate your writing back to me on my thoughts (sometimes) of what it is to be alone.  My husband traveled so often when the children were young and I really never felt afraid, although I did check the house all over before bedtime.  Here, we must lock the doors because last year a young man came into the bedroom of a neighbor & said "Don't make a sound" and she screamed.  Very odd - he was never caught but did the same thing at several homes.

Marilyn:  Thank you for your message.  It is always nice to know that people care to reply - no, you are not "preaching" - I do know the comfort of turning to our Bible promises.

Etta Sue:  Read your note with interest and appreciate your thoughts as well.  It is good to see the words in print and know the Truth!

Jane:  Nita: and Ruth Ann:  I didn't take notes but read your comments as well and give thanks that I "know" what is in your hearts.  It is wonderful to read your notes.

Larry:  Your state certainly needs a rain break and hope it is helpful in the fire situation.  Best to Pat!!!  Free breakfast from a friend for all the coffee guys sound fine to me.

Gordon Brown:  A Get Well Prayer for Noreen is on the way.

    Pat:
Al:    Thinking of both of you and sending a prayer for good health.

Cousin & husband just left here a while ago - they are only going a few hours today.  Yesterday, we took them only to the foothills to a reservoir west of the city and through the area, stopping for viewing & then lunch and coming home for dinner here again and thankfully, there was enough leftovers from our last dinner and a fresh salad.  We talked every night until almost midnight.  Their son & his family are leaving Uzbeckistan - missionaries are being booted - and going to another muslim country that may be a bit friendlier.  After about 15 years of work there, the government just took over a huge building they had built.

Off to meet daughter & granddaughter for an early dinner.

Good Evening!!  Long day!  Busy day!  Ready to prop up my feet and rest awhile now.

Tony, my son called this morning and said he was coming up to help me swab my deck!  I got in the car and got some bleach at Dollar General.  Then I had to sweep up the buds from maple trees that the freeze got and now they are falling.  Then I hosed the deck down.  Tony came and it was a lot easier with two people...one swabbing the deck with a scrub brush on a broom handle with bleach and the other hosing the deck off.  One moving the deck furniture while the other goes after something.  Now I have a white deck.  It was beginning to look like a Holstein cow (Gateway)!!   Oh, yes!  My deck is resin so moisture has to dry instead of absorb so therefore, it turns gray.  I do this once a year but better than painting to me.

He left and I fixed a bite to eat and then mowed the yard.  Then weed-whacked the edges of the drive and around the garage.  I was reading my mail when Ivalou came in.  Her mower wouldn't start so she put the charger on it and came over here to talk awhile.  She left and I got in the shower to clean up for church tomorrow.

Now I am running a load of clothes in the washer.  Supper will be popcorn tonight.

Tomorrow after church, Kitty and I are going to get our photos from Kokomo.  A fun day for us since she has been gone all week to her daughter's in OHio.

I am thinking I am going to get a mouth guard somewhere and wear it when I can't talk...that would remind me not to talk!

Carol, I have had those thoughts, too, about being alone.  While I have never been afraid to be alone for days or even weeks, the thought of not having my husband to talk to, to just spend time with and know there is someone here who loves me, to discuss things with and work through problems together---those are the things I think would be the hardest of all.  I tell him sometimes not to even THINK about leaving me here alone.  (As if people really have a choice.)  Anyway, I think I understand some of what you meant.

Darrel is still feeling bad, so we didn't get to go to the Senior Prom tonight.  I sure hope he gets back to normal soon.  He said a little while ago that he is sure tired of being sick.  :P

There were three of us today scrapbooking.  Well, one was working on her scrapbook, the other two of us were making cards.  I joked about how much we would have to charge per card if we were going to sell them--mine would be really expensive!  About the time I really get the ideas flowing, it's time to stop.  My buddy Pat is getting really good at making cards.

Come on over, Ruth, we can just play and play!

I went and took Beth and Gloria to the wedding.  The bride, Jennifer, was so happy to see them, said they were here favorite residents and special guests, and instructed the ushers to seat them right in the front with the family.  She had them come at noon, so they could watch her get dressed in her wedding dress.  I thought she was so sweet to make them feel special and share her special day with them like that.  They stayed until they could blow bubbles at them as they left.  Then I took them by Sonic to get something to eat before I took them back to the home.  They will have that to talk about for days.  God bless Jennifer!

    See you tomorrow!

    Hi, friends,

It is tax holiday here in Tennessee for this weekend, so I used a gift card to a ladies clothing shop and ended up only paying $8.50 for 3 nice casual tops this afternoon.

    Then bought groceries.

Was very tired when I got home, so decided to rest. About an hour later, my daughter called and we hadn't seen each other in quite a while, so we had dinner together.

Altogether, a very nice day, but I'm certainly ready to rest this evening.

    Pat

    Hi folks!

What a bargain, Ruth Ann!  Wow!  Lovely.

    Well, the latest on Judy....

On Thursday, they had her stand up.  She was told by the surgeon to put all of her weight completely on both of her legs!!   :o   But he knows what he's talking about for sure.  He's a very strong believer in not lying in bed due to the dangers of pneumonia.

So, the next day she walked with a very high walker EIGHT STEPS!!!  She's so happy.  I looked her in the eyes and asked her if she was in pain when she was walking and she said, "No, just a feeling of very tight.  My legs felt that they couldn't move due to being restricted in some way."

We feel that this is a natural feeling after two major surgeries in two weeks.

She was supposed to go to Guelph Hospital on May 1 but now that's changed as they are being careful of her blood and her oxygen levels.

Needless to say, I'm a tired lady but I'll get rested.

My Lord what love is this?
    That paid so dearly
That I, the guilty one, may go free.

    Amazing love, oh what sacrifice
The Son of God, given for me
My debt He paid, and my death He died
    That I, might live.
    That I, might live.

And so, they watched Him die
    Despised and rejected
But oh, the blood He shed, flowed for me.

    Amazing love, oh what sacrifice
The Son of God, given for me
My debt He paid, and my death He died

And now, this love of Christ
    Will flow, like rivers
Come wash, your guilt away, And live again.

Hi everyone on this beautiful sunny and clear day here in Georgia.

We will head to church after bit and then probably out to lunch with our friends.  Don't have anything else on the schedule for today.  We are starting to get the results from the various events in the Senior Golden Olympics so I need to work on the website and get these results shown.  I want to do some revisions on the website this year as it is time for a new look.

I spoke with my sister last evening and tomorrow is the last day of work for her before she retires.  They plan on being here in 10 or 11 days but know they won't stay long as she has it in her idea that a couple of days is enough.  I hope we can make a couple of side trips with them and maybe extend their stay a little bit.  It has been about 20 years since they visited us here in Georgia.  We are really looking forward to it.

I have read all the messages but think I will be brief today and give you all a break for Sunday as my postings are usually too long.  Good news about JudyM, praying for those that are still ailing and for each of our friends here on CP.  Hope everyone has a good day.

Larry - glad your sister can come - hope they can stay a bit longer.  As to your posting "such long posts" - they are most assuredly NOT too long!  Somebody's got to make up for my short ones!  I enjoy your posts.  So keep 'em comin.

Good Morning, I amr eady for church over an hour early but I am moving rather slow today. During the night I woke up to use the bathroom and once on my feet I have a very stiff and painful lower back. I have no idea what I could have done yesterday to cause this pain. I have prayed over it, put Ben Gay on it and tried to get it moving around a little bit, not to much. But to no avail.

Well Larry it is not Sunny California here today at least not yet. By the time the sun came out yesterday I had already decided that I wasn't going to mow or weed whack the yard as it was already about 4pm.

Hi Al How is your leg today?

Great news about Judy McKenna!  Thanks, Pat, for telling us, and I do pray she keeps on getting better and better.

Al, is your leg better?  Will you get to go to the grandkid's graduation?  I hope you can; I know I am looking forward to attending both a high school and a college graduation in just a couple of weeks, both about 300 miles away.

Darrel is still really sick.  He is worried about whether he will even be up to the trip to Amarillo tomorrow to see his heart doctor.

No church this evening, and I haven't slept well for two nights, so I might decide a nap is in order for me today.   I have already practiced my piano lesson.

Ruth Ann, I think I need to go shopping with you.  You seem to know where to find the bargains!  :)

Marilyn, hope your back is better by now.

Larry, your posts are never too long.  I enjoy each and every one!

Thanks for your inquiies about my leg.  No noticeable changes.  However, my son has worked out a way (because of his frequent flier points) for us to stop more places, thus not being in the car as long.  It may work.  May our God's best be done.

I pray that Darrel's malady will clear up quickly and that Marilyn's back will quickly improve too.

So glad to hear a positive report on Judy.  I will pray that it continues.  :)

This monring I was so wrapped up in the pain in my back that I forgot to  mention the good news about Judy MC. Thank you Jesus, I pray she will be able to walk on her own again with out the use of walkers or canes.

My back pain is gone, I was prayed over at church and just took it easy this afternoon and now it is gone. Hallelujah!!

Tonight at 6 pm after prayer meeting we are starting a 13 week class on  finances. It is a partly video and partly not video.  Financial Peace University

    Good Evening!!

Church was awesome.  Both sermons were about Saul/Paul being acatylist for God.

I left church in Greenfield and stopped to get Kitty.  Then I drove to Kokomo.  We ate at a Deli...never ate there before.  Kind of like Panera Bread.  Then on to the Art Center for the Award Ceremony.  We did find out that there were 95 photos in the contest and 40+ of them were from the Photo Guild I am from.  Good showing.  Now I have my pelican photo hanging in my living room.

Kitty and I were thirsty so we stopped at an Ice Cream place in Noblesville for Diet Caffeine Free Cokes.  Wish I could have gotten some ice cream.  It is like the old time ice cream stores.  Hand dipped hard ice cream.  Probably about 50 flavors.  But I was good and got a boring diet caffeine free coke!!

When I got home the phone was ringing.  It was one of my step-daughters that I haven't talked to for a long time.  Probably talked way over an hour!  Good to get caught up on the family!  Geesh!  My husband would be Grandpa 26 times and Great-Grandpa at least 16 times.  And he loved kids.   :'(

Now I am sitting here about froze.  I turned on the A/C before I left home this morning and the A/C unit is in this room.  Brrrr!

    Pat

    Hi folks

Just in from Hamilton.  Judy wasn't so good today so we didn't stay long as she felt she needed sleep.  She seemed pale.  they are still checking her blood and oxygen.

I'm tired so might just go and have a nap even though it's just after supper time.

Did any of you watch the little video on photographing swans?

It's fantastic.  Whenever Pete makes one of these for the Cafe, I'll put it on our site here.  He's an amazing fellow--a school teacher in England and just does a great job with wildlife photography.

Here's a link if you think you can't find it.  And it's only about 3 1/2 minutes long.
