Morning Devotional...

Psalm 31

This is a song for any who might be in deep distress, who might in fact even fear for their very lives, and who might know their own sins well enough to suspect that it's on account of those sins that trouble is being experienced.

David had actually known times like that.  As with us, there were times when He knew he had sinned.  At such times He was very, very ashamed of the sin, and suspected that all who knew him were ashamed of him as well, and that they were, in fact, avoiding him.  Not only so, but it always seemed to be just at that moment that he was also being attaced by his enemies!  And they were cunning, powerful enemies, enemies who could, and gladly would, take away his life.  He feared that his sin was the reason for it all and that the Lord might even have  forsaken him.

But he was determined about one thing: he was determined to maintain his trust in the Lord anyway, even if the Lord  utterly deserted him to his enemies.  He had called on the Lord, and he was determined to wait on the Lord, come what may.  He could say with Job, "Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him!"  He knew his only help had to come from God, so he stubbornly hung on in faith.

Many might give up under such circumstances.  This song was composed for them, composed to move them to "hang in there," no matter how desperate the circumstances.

David himself had to confess, "My eye wastes away with grief - yes my soul and my body!  For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing (in other words his distress was not of short duration!); my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones waste away . . . I am forgotten like a dead man; I am like a broken vessel.  For I hear the slander of many; fear is on every side; while they take counsel together against me, they scheme to take away my life!"

But the solution, the only soution, no matter how deep the distress and no matter how desperate the circumstances - no matter how long it had been - could still only be the Lord's grace.  As David puts it, "My times are in Your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me."  NO MATTER WHAT, he was going to trust the Lord!  He knew his sin, he'd confessed his sin, but he also knew he was dealing with a forgiving God - and He was going to trust him!

So, turning to the congregation, and having brought each worshipper this far in his song, David makes it clear that God WAS merciful, that God DID hear him, and in fact God HAD delivered him! It's as though he were directly communicating with each of these worshippers, and he wanted them to know that, though trouble couldn't get any deeper and circumstances any more desperate, yet he's been delivered, and they could be too!

He sings, "Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear You, which You have prepared for those who trust in You in the presence of the sons of men!"  In summary of the goodness of his God, he sings, "For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before Your eyes; nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications when I cried out to you!"

David communicates the result of this "stubborn prayer" to each worshipper when he sings, "Oh love the Lord, all you His saints!  For the Lord preserves the faithful, and fully repays the proud person.  Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord!"

Dear ones, it's just as true for you as it was for David and the people he led.  Have you trusted the Lord? Have you laid your sins before Him and known the forgiveness that is in Jesus Christ?  Then HANG ON!  David's trouble, David's sin, David's distress - was greater than any you'll ever experience - and God finally delivered him! And, even more importantly, David's greater Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, experienced greater guilt, greater distress, greater desperation than you - or David - could ever experience, and He rose from the dead in triumph!  And so will you!

Dare to be a Daniel
(Click to hear music)

Standing by a purpose true,
Heeding God's command,
Honor them, the faithful few!
All hail to Daniel's Band!

Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone,
Dare to have a purpose firm,
Dare to make it known!

Many mighty men are lost,
Daring not to stand,
Who for God had been a host,
By joining Daniel's Band!

Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone,
Dare to have a purpose firm,
Dare to make it known!

Many giants, great and tall,
Stalking thru the land,
Headlong to the earth would fall,
If met by Daniel's Band!

Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone,
Dare to have a purpose firm,
Dare to make it known!

Hold the gospel banner high!
On to vict'ry grand!
Satan and his host defy,
And shout for Daniel's Band!

Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone,
Dare to have a purpose firm,
Dare to make it known!

Dare To Be A Daniel .... Oh, how that brings back memories.  I sang that many times as a child, and growing up.  Thanks, Al, for the great commentary on Psalm 31

Al Thanks for that wonderful devotional this morning. It is  indeed important to keep our trust in God no matter what is happening. I have heard of Dare to be a Daniel but just knew a few lines. I enjoyed reading it this morning.

It is cloudy here today and it looks like more rain could be headed our way ;D
I am still trying to get use to my new lap top and vista windows. Who said technology was easy-not for me it isn't ^-^

Greetings and God's blessings to you all today

Good Morning everyone.

I was asked about the sickies.  Kassie was diagnosed with strep.  She was on antibiotics and is now well....Elizabeth is suffering with headaches.  Really bad and tyleonal doesn't seem to help.  To bed and that helps, I suspect a viral infection....If it continues it will be into the walk-in.

This week is VBS.  Both girls are helpiong there.  They love working with the younger kidlets, and this adds to their volunteer hours for school.  I think too that they enjoy VBS for themselves and this way they can continue to participate.

We are having autumn weather.  I have been closing windows of the house it has been that cool.

Well gotta run  be back tomorrow.

Good Day from Highlands Ranch, Colorado.  We have been cleaning and working on things so Don & one of our grandsons is staining the deck today.  The Comcast people came today so we have internet but not in the correct room as that will take another person with an hour's work.  Digital TV is here right now. Don forgot that people are in the house & started to change his shirt - wouldn't want anyone to get excited. ;)

Al:  Thank you so much for the Daniel writing.

Lots going on right now & so I will sign off.

Hi Everyone!

Just popping in for the first time today.  Been a very busy day for me.

Thanks for the wonderful devotions on a great Psalm, Al.  I so appreciate reading it.

Hi everyone.  The good news is that our daughter came through the heart bypass surgery well as far as we can tell.  They didn't take her from ICU until 10:30 (we had been told for a couple of days that would happen at 6 am).  We got to the hospital about 5:45 this morning and after they took her we heard not a word about anything until almost 5 pm.  This hospital doesn't seem to have any volunteers and there is just no communication with family members.  We didn't know where she would go after surgery or who would know.  She was returned to the ICU and is on a respirator for the night.  The nurse awoke her when we saw her a little after 5 pm and she nodded her head to indicate she was aware we were in the room.  We only spent about 5 minutes with her as she was sleeping and am sure drugged to help with the pain and the trama.

We are spending another night here at her apartment as we are close to the hospital and it saves about 2 hours of driving each day.  We plan on going home tomorrow after we visit with her.  We spent about 12 hours at the hospital today and we both are exhausted.  We should sleep better tonight.

I am confident that the many prayers have helped her endure this surgery and hopefully will speed her recovery.  Thank you all for your expressions of concern and for lifting her to our Heavenly Father in prayer.

Pat

Hi Larry...  My goodness, poor Stacey is going through so much.

Thank you for the update.  We'll be praying for her.

We had a terrible explosion in Toronto yesterday.  It was on the news all day.  A fireman lost his life.  Highway 401 was closed completely for nearly the whole day.

If you go to YouTube and do a search with something like "Toronto Propane Explosion" or "Keele and Wilson Propane" you'll see many, many videos of the massive blaze and explosions.

Here's one...  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-5WQbx-dzA&NR=1

Well, Larry, I am glad this particular leg of the ordeal is over.  I can't imagine what you and Pat must have been going through -- spending the whole day at the hospital and not knowing a thing!  :o  At least you finally did get to see Stacy and know she is being taken care of.  Tomorrow will be a better day.  I can only imagine how exhausted you both are ... physically as well as emotionally.

Pat!  That's horrendous.  What a terrible thing to happen.  I pray for the family of that fireman as well as for anyone/everyone effected by this disaster.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Janet

Larry, I am continuing to pray for you, Pat and Stacey.  There is no tougher job in the world than hanging around a hospital while a loved one is being treated.  Bless you.

We got home this afternoon, tired after our weekend of diving/training.  It was a really disappointing time, as conditions at Sandy Channel were terrible.  The water there is usually quite clear and warm; this time the visibility was only about 2 feet, and near the bottom it was totally black.  We never even found the dive platforms, nor any of the boats and other things that are there.  But our divers were good sports, did their skills and all passed their certification.  They said they had a good time, and I said if they enjoyed THAT, they would think they are in heaven when they go to the Caribbean or somewhere else where the water is warm and clear.  There were actually two thermoclines in the water this time, very strange.

We drove on up to Grand Island, Nebraska, to my foster brother's place and spent the night with them last night.  Darrel repaired an alarm system there for friends of Don's.

Carol, I would love to see your place when you get it all fixed up, bet it will be a real showplace.  Don't work too hard, though!

Larry, I don't think I did too well with my weight watchers plan this week, either.  I still don't have the point system figured out, especially when I have to eat out.  Guess I will see tomorrow night.  I did pass up a lot of good looking food, so hope I lost some weight!

I need to get some shuteye.  Hope to hear good reports on Stacey tomorrow.

I have read each post and may You all have a blessed day. <3

Hi, everyone!!!  I think I am back now.  Like Melody, I am figuring out my laptop and Vista.  I went to post the other day and my 'brains' ( a note pad with all my shortcuts to put on my graphics along with user names and passwords for various website) was blank!  I got my graphics back on one and a few user names and passwords.

Then I couldn't find out how to use the email from my ISP.  I called them and finally got that figured out.  I know eventually all will be much better.  Vista isn't the problems...it's everything else.

And Best Buy said they could come to my house and set up networking....for $159!!!  I have the wireless all done.  When I took my laptop out of the box and turned it on, I had internet.  All I need is the set up words and jargon.  I think I could do it myself by reading the Linksys instructions but like I say...I am brain dead now!!!

Larry ~ So sorry to hear of Stacy having to have surgery on her heart.  Let's just pray that all her problems will be minimized now.  Look at you...without heart surgery you wouldn't be here.  Now you can tell her how to react and do things!!

I am off of here to do more stuff!!!

I sure have missed you guys..... :'(

I am confused!  Sure feels like Monday to me today, since I "lost" Monday driving home (well, riding, anyway--Darrel was driving!)  I hope to get sorted out soon.  I have gotten all the laundry done, kitchen cleaned, also living room, so Monday's work is close to being finished.  Not that I do certain chores on certain days, but just do as it needs done.  Boring.......I know.  :-[

Abby starts back to school tomorrow---yes, already!  Goodness, feels as if they just got out a couple weeks ago.  Could it be that at my age the perspective changes?  Naw!

Etta Sue, you do great with computer stuff.  I don't do very well at all.  If I don't do something for two weeks or a month, I forget how to do it.   :P

See you later!

Boy that's for sure!  When I was living in Oklahoma, the difference in one day from the next was that on Sunday I'd "dress up" and (sometimes) go to church!  I still find myself, once in a while, trying to remember what day it is when I awake in the mornings!   :-\  Oh, well, every day is a GOOD day with the Lord ... and a day to rejoice and be glad!   ;)

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We had a good night's sleep last night and we both felt much better today.

We visited with our daughter for about an hour.  She was sitting in a chair, very weak and obviously in pain.  They wanted her to sit up for 2 hours and when we left she still had 45 minutes to go.  Around 3 am she pulled the respirator tube out but fortunately was able to do the breathing on her own.  I am sure the next couple of days are going to be pretty rough for her.

We came home after visiting with her as we had no clean clothes left with us.  The housekeeper is coming in the morning and then tomorrow afternoon we will go back downtown to see our daughter.  She didn't have the strength to speak very much today and was using an oxygen mask.  However, they were weening her off of the oxygen.

Janet, glad to see you are home safe and sound.  Too bad about the bad conditions you found in the water.

Etta Sue, you should be able to set up the security on your moden/router.  Actually if you don't have other homes close by other than you brother and sister, I doubt that you really need to worry about setting security as the signal is usually pretty limited in distance.  If you do set any codes be sure to write them down and also you might want to make notes on how to access the control page of the Linksys.

Thank you all once again for your prayers and expressions of concern.  Pat and I have gone through a lot and this is just another of the hurdles we face in the process of our lives.

Janet

Bless you, Larry.  After the ordeal you and Pat have just been through (and still are) you still take time to greet us and let us know how things are going.  Thanks for that, and the prayers continue.

WOO-HOO!!  I went to Weight Watchers tonight, and in spite of hours in the pickup, eating out for four days, etc., I lost 3 1/2 pounds!!  I'm a happy camper!  :)

Etta Sue, that's the first thing I think of in the mornings---what day is it?  What do I have to do today?  And if traveling, Where am I?  ;)

The US guys are beating Argentina in beach volleyball right now.  Strange, the men wear more clothes than the women for that game.  :-\    I see no reason for the women to wear such skimpy clothes to play that.  Guess I'm an old fogie.

I need to go read my new stuff from WW, see what else I need to do this week.
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

JudyB

No Janet yo are not an old fogie.  I agree with you on the subject of dress.  It is difficult with teen girls to teach them modest dress when the "world" is so un-modest.  Kass and Elizabeth do comply and I really have no complaints.  The problem I am having is with a boy 2 1/2 years older than kass beating up on her and she is hesitant to defend herself as he is younger.  She came home Friday with scratches and bite marks all over her arms.  She is staying away from that area from now on.

Larry I am so sorre that your daughter is having such problems.  Just know she, you and pat are all being prayed for during this difficult time.

VBS is going well.  Elizabeth is working with 4's and 5's and thoroughly enjoying it.  There is one child that is a challenge, and she is learning how to be firm and fair.  She has such a soft heart that she doesn't like to correct.  She is learning.

Well Must go.  Know that each of you both posting and not are being prayed for.  God bless you this day.

The Laptop is getting easier.  Things are smoothing out now.  Larry, I have the wireless router working wonderfully.  In fact, I installed it first with the desktop.  When I took the laptop out of the box, plugged it in and turned it on, I was on the internet.  What I need now is the networking between the desktop and the laptop so I can access files with each pc.  I did purchase an 8 gig flash drive but I didn't think it would work on the desktop...the case on it was too wide to fit...but yesterday I was showing Kaye Don and it worked!!  That will help a lot!!!

Today was Red Hats Day.  Four of us went to a restaurant at the new shopping center about 7 miles from me....first time I have been there.  It is an open mall.  Almost like a little town with streets and parking areas at different places.  You have to walk outside to go to other shops....similar to downtown shopping years ago!!!!!  We went shopping to several stores but I didn't buy anything.  I spent my money on a laptop last week remember?   ::)

Janet

Judy, Kass needs to learn how to defend herself!  Nobody should have to put up with that kind of treatment.  Grrr.

Good for you, Etta Sue!  You will have all your computer problems figured out soon.

I had a really nice half mile swim this morning.  On the 700 Club right now, they have a man who lost over 400 pounds!!  Goodness!

Michael Phelps continues to shatter records in the Olympics.  Man, what a swimmer!

I'm enjoying watching the Olympics and seeing sights in China on TV that I have seen in person.

See you later!

hope you are all having a blessed day <3

JudyB

Janet I know she does, but the problem is he threatens if she does he will call the police and have her charged.   Children know their rights ....to the detriment of others.  Because she is older she won't defend herself.  She has a Captain in cadets that she is going to speak to and ask for help as to what she CAN doto defend herself.  We'll see

I am getting more and more sewing projects in to do, It is great to be able to do this for others, I do enjoy it so much and to be paid to do it to boot!   ;D

I need a drink of something cold...probably apple juice and then back to work.

Love you all

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We are staying at our daughter's apartment again tonight and came prepared to stay here for several days.  There is no reason for us to do all the driving back and forth and this location is so much closer to the hospital.

We got to the hospital around 3:30 this afternoon and found her appearing to be much improved from yesterday.  They had removed the chest tubes and she had set up 90 minutes this morning and 2 hours this afternoon.  She has been coughing up a lot of debris and they started an antibiotic and took a specimen to be sure she wasn't developing pneumonia.  Her voice is much stronger.  They had removed the bandage from her arm where they harvested the artery and it appears to be healing well. The scar is only about 2 inches long on the inside of her writst.   She says she feels like a Mack truck has run over her but that is to be expected.  We didn't stay too long as she was in considerable pain and they had given her some morphine.  They have been weaning her off of the morphine but gave her another dose as she was in such pain.  They are having a time trying to adjust the blood sugar level as it is too high.  Overall she appears much improved and I wouldn't be surprised to see her moved from the ICU before long. Tomorrow will be the third day and then she should begin to feel better.

We will be spending more time with her when she moves out of ICU as the level of care goes down a lot from what it is in ICU.

We got caught in the baseball traffic tonight and saw a lot of Atlanta we hadn't seen before as they had streets blocked off and we couldn't go the way we knew. We found Peachtree Street, which is a major street from south to north and stayed on it all the way to the apartment.

Judy, hope your daughter gets some good advice as to how to handle the bully.  She shouldn't have to put up with this.  Glad you are getting the sewing projects that you enjoy.

Melody, did you install the router software?  Sorry it is giving you problems.

Janet, congratulations on the WW success.  I am sure I haven't lost any weight this week as it has been very hard to control what I have been eating as we have eaten out a lot.  I have to weigh in on Friday but am going to have to guess and will probably just indicate the same weight as last week.  I know I have used up almost all of my weekly points.  Are you doing the WW's over the Internet?  I think they have a great site but it does take some exploring to discover how to use it effectively.

Etta Sue, I was pretty confident you would enjoy the laptop.  The 8 gig memory stick should make transferring your files very easy.

Today I have cleaned out 2 huge tubs and 2 large tub of fabric and donated it to a Women's Ministry group that meets at Willa's house every Monday. I used to go when I wasn't working at that time. I am working on downsizing while the weather is nice and I can take stuff out of the shed sort and toss.

Tomorrow I have an appointment at the new Women's Health unit over at Mad river Hospital for my digital Mammogram. I haven't had one for two years. I went through my file here at home and discovered I didn't get one last year, called the Dr and they made the referral.

This morning at work I had to  wash all the pots, pans and casserole dishes left from a dinner for 12 by hand of course, I don't put those things in the dishwasher. There were 6 able bodied women and 5 able bodied men there last night and I still had to do those dishes this morning. The  son and DIL from Georgia left this evening adnd the next group couple will be here the 29th and the family dinners will start all over again. GRRRRRRRRR that I have to do all that work and they just sit around that is not in my job description as a caregiver..

Marilyn:  Can't you just drop a big hint that the "good family" will have to pitch in on cleaning the kitchen?  Why are you downsizing?

Larry:  Stacey is so young to go through all of this - it does sound like improvement each and every hour.

Janet:  Wait until we get furniture - which will be in two weeks if the truck isn't stopped by the traffic jam on I-25 - you know that convention is going to really cause chaos in the city.

JudyB:  What a bully.  That makes me so mad - the parents need to know but if they are raising a bully they don't care.

We are heading for a quick trip to Fort Collins tomorrow and what else, final packing & cleaning.  Then, back here to get the basement work shop floor painted.  Don likes it painted because it cuts down on dust.  We had to buy two overhead lights today, a cabinet for the laundry area & I forgot what else.  I never know what day it is unless I look at the calendar.  We finally have telephone but only one phone works so that must be changed & need to buy more so we don't run upstairs for a phone call.

Al Moak

Carol - that sure sounds like it's going to be a very, very nice place when you get done.

JudyB

Well A Very Good Morning to all,  The sun is shining and there are no clouds in the sky.

I have a lot on the agenda today, an order is due to come in this afternoon, and there is a staff/teacher's meeting at 1:00 so a busy day indeed.

Have a great day and God bless.

Its promising to be warm and sunny here today. My kind of day and I will try to get for a good walk.
PatHow are things in your area since that propane explosion?
Larry Praying this day will show mark improvement with your daughter.
I have to get my routter up and going on my lap top today-I am sure I will figure it out .
I am slowly starting to get use to this lap top and vista. It has ram of 3 GB- HDD-250 GB and moden-56k. So it is more powerful than my other one.
AL Hello and hope you are having a good day.
Colin I view excurshion number 12 and really enjoyed. You really live in beautiful area.
Well, today my husband is trying to expand on our back patio and I will have to go and see if I can help in any way ;D

Marilyn

Good Morning, Today is Mammogram day for me, I don't go until this afternoon at 3:15. The fog has come in now, it was a lot more clear when I went to Curves for my morning workout.

Carol I am downsizing all the things that I haven't used in years and things that it would probably be years before I even thought about using. I did keep a few pieces of fabric for aprons and a wonderful piece of  quilted silk and another silk piece for a Mandarin jacket that I need a pattern for. I may be moving to Oregon before winter sets in. We have been talking about marriage, so far just talking no definite plans yet.

Lightening and thundering here.  Lost internet for a bit.  Dark like it should be 9 at night!!!!

Larry, with the flash drive, could I transfer programs like my Corel PSP X that won't download on Vista to the laptop?  I have a software that I use to make my calendars that won't download either.  Just wondering.

Today I have 60 Chix.  It is about two miles away so that is good for me.  Sounds like quite a few are going to be there today!!  Love it when that happens.

Hello Everyone.

I've been very ill since Monday.  I have cystitis and that certainly isn't something to treat lightly.  I've had high and low temperatures and every muscle and joint in my body feels as if I've been hit by a car.  I am forcing myself to eat in order to take the antibiotics.

Dear Lord we bring Pat to you now and ask for your healing touch to be upon her body. May every sympton of this cystitis leave her body.May her temperature come to normal and the pain that`s in her joints go in Jesus name I ask- Amen

Ruth Ann Bice

Meloday, thank you for that wonderful prayer for our Pat. Cystitis is indeed very difficult to endure.

I'm improving here at the rehab center, so they plan to dismiss me on Tuesday next week.

Much love to all - here's a link to where I am:

Hi everyone.  Pat, so sorry to hear you are ill and hope the antibiotics take care of the problem.

Etta Sue, as a general rule you cannot just transfer progrms.  These have to be reinstalled.  Unfortunately there are some programs that will not work with Vista.  Do a Google searc on "running xp programs  on vista" and you will find a number of articles about running older programs under Vista.  Since I don't have either of the programs you mentioned I can't see if these will work.

Marilyn, hope your test turns out well.  Know these tests are always a source of concern for women.  My wife realized she had the same test scheduled a few days ago and completely forgot about it and missed the appointment with all we have going on.  She will have to reschedule it as soon as things settle down.  It is nice of you to share your fabric so that it might be put to use.

Melody, you do have a very powerful new computer.  However, are you using dialup?  I assume you also have a wireless card built into your computer.

Judy, you have a very busy day today.

Hi Al.  How are you getting along now.  Has the special shoe insert helped?

Carol, it is always amazing how many things need doing when we move.  In the middle of October we are going to move our daughter to another apartment where she won't have steps and that will be close to the elevator.  My good friend Rod was going to help me but when she has to move is the same time he will be out West attending a Western film festival that he greatly enjoys.  So I think I will just have to hire a moving company.  It will cost about $200 but I simply cannot physically do the work and most of my friends are not young men and I am not going to ask them to help.  My friend Rod is not young but is in excellent health and he had a cart/dolly that would have made the job pretty easy.

We did go to the hospital about 11 am this morning.  Stacey was sitting up and trying to bathe herself and was in tears.  So I left the room and her mother helped her.

My heart is acting up a bit yesterday and today and the walking has really gotten to me  and so I didn't try to walk back to see her again this morning.  Pat is having a hard time walking also because of her legs and feet (I realize this sounds obvious but this is the problem she has).  Pat spent about 90 minutes with her.

We may not try to go back today and just rest the rest of the day.  There is another baseball game at the stadium and so the traffic will be bad early this evening.  She is suppose to be moved from ICU onto a medical floor sometime today.  She was feeling up to having the little Palm Pilot I had brought  for her as it has a little game on it that helps pass the time of day.  Nothing happens quickly in this hospital and she hasn't called, which she will be able to do when she is in a room.  They have not done any treatment for her infected foot since she has been in ICU so hope that hasn't been a setback.  Pat saw the doctor who had been directing that treatment before she went to ICU and she talked with him and he said the team treating her just needs to ask for a wound consult and someone would look at it.

Pat and I came home and had lunch and we both have taken naps.  My chest discomfort has eased off and she is still napping on and off.  I am hoping tomorrow that I am feeling better as there is a lot of walking at the hospital from the parking garage to the hospital, up a gradual incline and then in this huge hospital.

Sarah, that is a very heavy schedule you have ahead of you.  Hope you don't wear yourself out this term.

Ruth Ann, how nice to see your posting and read of your good recovery.  I have seen other information about the outcome of your surgery over the last few days and knew your surgery had gone well and that you were working hard at your rehab.

A big AMEN to Melody's prayer for Pat.  Pat, I don't know what that is, but will look it up, and continue to pray for your recovery.  Are you still in Guelph alone?

Carol, I promise I won't come see you for some time!  We do not get to Denver often, but do fly from there on most of our travels.  I am looking forward with you to having your place all done, you moved in and settled, so you can get some rest!

Boy, I had such a nice nap this afternoon!  I rarely do that, but must have needed it.

Our local paper published a really nice front page article on "Learning to scuba dive in Ulysses?" about us this week.  Really appreciated.

Larry, I am praying your and Pat's and Stacey's ordeal will be over soon, with Stacey back to a much higher level of health, and her parents getting to go home and get rested.  We have another trip to Amarillo with Beth next week, and if they want us to stay overnight, they will have to admit her to the hospital, as we cannot take care of her overnight.  Both of us together can't lift her, and she cannot move herself.  I did speak to her doctor yesterday, he said he just thinks it time to have another consult with her neurosurgeon.  We have no idea if anything can be done to help her.

Ruth Ann, it sure is nice to see your post!  Keep on getting better!!

I agree with Pat & Janet that it is sure good to see you posting, Ruth Ann.  I pray your continued rehab will go very, very well.

Larry - It's taken the couple of weeks since I got the new, built-up shoe just to get used to it.  My hip wasn't used to that leg being that long for a long time!  I think it's getting pretty well used to it now, so I'm praying it'll now begin to  show some good results from having it.

Marilyn

I just called the hospital and Bobbie Gould is sound asleep so I will have to call back later.

I am also just back from having my Mammogram done digitally. The tech said everything looked beautiful. Hooray!

I had to go to the CO-OP to get some concentrated black cherry juice, very good for arthritis and joint pain. 2 TBLS to 8 oz water. Also got more ground Psyllium seeds (Natural fiber), and some Nutritional Yeast flakes, (lots of B vitamins there) Also very good for the dogs and to keep the fleas away.

My Friend Willa gives the Cherry juice to her husband and he is no longer complaining of pain in his back and is now walking without his walker.

The black Cherries are supposed to be very good and full of antioxidants.

Bobbie's in the hospital?  What's this all about?   ???

Pat, I don't know what cystitis is either, but I am really praying that you will be rid of it -- and all symptoms -- in very short order.   <3

Larry, you know just how much you can tax yourself (and Pat does, too) so just take it slow and easy and one step at a time.  We want you around for a long time to come, y'know.

Ruth Ann, what a beautiful palace place you are staying at.  As Al commented: as nice as, or better, than a 5 star resort.  I keep up with your progress (which is outstanding) through notes at SN and I know you are being well taken care of although anxious to be out of there and able to resume your (newly retired) life!

Speaking of 5 Star resorts: I will be staying at one in less than two weeks from now.  My brother, two sisters, and two daughters and I are getting together at Rancho Vistoso in Arizona.  Some of us haven't seen each other in about 18 years!  We are the only "Price" family remnant left so ... it's about time, doncha think?

This is courtesy of Joy's time share so don't be thinking we are suddenly flush with $$$$.   :D

Janet, that's really nice that you were "featured" in the local paper ... I didn't think I knew any celebrities and now you is one!

Guess I best stop this before I get myself in too deep to dig out.

Bobbie went to the Dr. because she has been so short of breath for a long time and having trouble just walking to her car. He doctor put her in the Hospital for a lot of tests. If you look on SN in Survivors of Abuse you can find the whole story and the  address and phone number of the hospital. It is also in Tennessee and Kansas. But her son Don is posting in Survivors.

Pat;  I hope that you are getting better and now I know why I have not heard from you.  I have also been sick since last Saturday and on Monday had to go to the doctor and get some antibiotics and he also gave me two puffers and they are all very strong and thank the Lord they are working.  Get better soon as Paul needs you. Yes Gord I hear you!!!  :ticked:  YOu are a good friend.   Have you spoken to Jim lately?  Call him.

We had an order come in later yesterday and I have to enter it all into inventory.  That is always a process that is time consuming.
Some of you may be aware that Husqvarna has come out with a new machine the Designer Diamond retailing at $8900 in Canada.  Well we have several irate customers because their new machine has not come in yet.  The machines are coming from Sweeden and will leave there on Friday, (we hope).  They introduced this machine without having enough new machines in the country, and then proceeded to shut down the factory for 2 weeks.  We have ladies chomping at the bit wanting their machines and there are no machines for another week!! :clobber:  Unfortunately the individual dealers are the ones getting the brunt of the problem.

John will be home today rather than tomorrow.  This is really good as he hasn't been home on a Friday in forever.

Pat  Take care and follow Doctors orders!

MArilyn I am praying about your plans.

We had the best showing for 60 Chix.  There were 13 of us.  Nice group.  The service was a little slow but the fun was great.

Later Kitty and I went to Michael's and Hobby Lobby.  She has been making quilts on Photo Shop and scans scrapbooking papers for 'fabric'.  She couldn't find any fall ones.  So I had my little camera and started taking pics of displays of scarecrows, pumpkins, fall leave garlands, flower pots, crows, then Christmas trees, balls, bulbs, then just displays period.  We then went to her house to play!!!  I ordered a new Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 for the laptop but it hasn't come in the mail yet.

Then her husband came home and we all went out to eat!!!

Nice and sunny today so I will have to mow this afternoon!!!

 :coffee: Good day.
Its raining heavy here ever since last night. Hopefully it will clear out before the day is over.
We started to expand on our patio yesterday and my husband is anxious to get it finished.
Pat continuing to pray for you.
Hello to all and have a great day
.

Janet

I just consulted Webster's on Cystitis, and the best recommendation I have for you, Pat, is to drink lots of cranberry juice.  Sure hope you're feeling better today.

Al, I hope your foot/hip are feeling better, as well.  It took me a while to get used to the MBT shoes, but, boy!  My feet and legs are feeling SO much better now.  So I ordered a pair of their sandals online, saved me a bundle.  ;)

I swam a half mile plus two laps in 23 minutes this morning.  I am adding a lap a day, trying to work my way up to a mile.  I may have to take it a little slower, but I will get there!  Strength and endurance, that's what I'm after.

Marilyn, how do they do a digital mammogram?  Do you still have to get smashed?  I haven't had a mammogram in several years now, probably need to do that again.

I'm going to see Mom today with a notebook and pens, and write down more of her stories.  Shirley (my sister) is wanting to use some of them in her writing class.  So I'll get the "skeleton" and she can flesh them out.  :)

I need to run, will try to post again later.

Carol

Here, it is overcast and drippy - reminds me of Seattle and that is good because I have cleaned the oven and cleaning window sashes with windows wide open.  Don is cleaning the basement work room so he can put the paint on it and he has a time frame so I am on standby to assist.  My rate is going up each day  ;)  Keeping up on news - those dreadful Russians!

Pat:  cystitis - I will look it up - praying for your recovery and relief.
Al:  There will be a bed set up for visitors too.  You are welcome.
Marilyn:  I have been wondering about you - pray for right decisions for your future.  You mentioned Bobbie Gould - I did not know she wasn't well.
Larry:  Moving is also a time that a person gets forgetful - good for you to get help.  It is too much!  We are fortunate that the children are so helpful but our real moving day is when they will be working.  We are paying $20 per hour for movers (each one) and that includes the truck, drive & gas so that is reasonable.  We packed everything & saved - we may have to pay a bit more if the gas eats up their profit.  Praying for you, Pat and Stacey - stay well.
Ruth Ann:  What a lovely place.  Rest & recuperate.
Jane:  Rancho Vistoso - we have good friends who have a winter home right there.  There is a terrific thrift shop on the highway just north of RV.   :coffee:

Janet:Good luck on your drive with Beth.  And, congrats on your swimming achievements.  I didn't know a Gold Medalist until now!!!
Everyone:  Have a safe and wonderful weekend.

PAt is fortunate to be able to drink cranberry juice.  I have an alergy to it.  Dr's orders to stay clear of cranberries of every kind. :(

I have had a repeat customer in wanting a specific fabric for cloth diapers.  The new mom's are going more and more to cloth and are making their own fitted diapers.  Did you know that microfleece acts as a wick when placed against the skin?  News to me too.  These young moms are a constant source of instruction to me.  I will be making some very soon as I have a class in "Baby Wear" in the new year (September).

Have a great day everyone.

Marilyn, that's very interesting about the fleas.  I must try that but they don't have fleas but sometimes I see them scratching.

Well, hello everyone...

Thank you for the lovely thoughts and prayers.  This has been a week that I never want to be repeated.

I followed the doctor's orders and took my prescribed medication which was the one for this malady and I've had it before but this time, I've gone allergic to it!!  Well, my legs were like two huge hunks of liver and my arms all speckled and red.  My spine was so sore and painful that just walking a few steps was almost unbearable.  When I coughed just a bit to try and clear my throat, I had an instant headache.

Anyway, they've changed the medication now to another one so I'll be on that one for five days.

Paul is coming up to visit me!!!  HOORAY!!  The building for a couple of days is at a standstill so he's going to be here for the weekend.  I'm so happy but what a long drive!

I won't comment on each post but just happy to see you posting, Ruth Ann.  Hurry up and get out of that swanky place!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Our daughter is making big strides in her recovery.  We went to see her this morning and stayed for a couple of hours.  She was sitting up and breathing better, not as breathless.  I spoke to her on the phone a little bit ago and they had removed the central line and taken her for a chest x-ray (probably to check to be sure there is no pneumonia).  She is in a very nice private room.  The surgeon had been in and told her he had ordered the wound care she needs for her foot and the neurotin for the neuropathy.  So she thought things were under control.  She is walking to the bathroom and the doctor told her she can now take short walk and that she should be dismissed on Sunday or Monday.

So I expect we will stay here until we can take her home with us as we have no compelling reason to go back to our home in the next day or two.  Fortunately Stacey has a very comfortable bed and Pat and I are both sleeping well.

Judy, I am sure glad my wife isn't into embroidery machines with those prices.  However, she has a good friend who has one of the embroidery machines and Pat said she had mentioned the new machine.  Glad that John was getting a Friday at home.

Carol, we met the new minister of our daughter's church this morning and they work with folks in recovery programs and suggested she could help us get a couple of young men to help do the moving.  So we will explore that possibility as Stacey could coordinate that.  We could pay them and it should be less than hiring movers.  It is still several weeks before the move.

Janet, I mentioned that brand of shoes you were speaking of to Pat and she had never heard of them.  She has so much trouble with her feet and her legs hurt all the time.  I would gladly pay that price if I felt they would help her.  Did you get the dress shoes as well as the sandels?  It sounds like your swimming program is going very well.  It sounds like you have a stressful time coming up on the trip to take Beth to see the specialist.

Melody, do you all make a lot of use of your patio?  We have a screened in porch but it seems there are not many days when it is pleasant out there.  Unfortunately it faces the West so we get the afternoon sun.

Etta Sue, I no longer buy software and have it shipped to me but rather just download it and burn my own CD.  It is usually about $5 less expensive.

Gord, good to see you posting once again on CP.  Hope you and your wife are getting rested up.

Marilyn, I am glad you got such good results from your test.

Jane, Pat and I both felt better today after taking a day to basically just rest.  There is a Chinese diner in a little shop here in the apartment building and we just went there last night to see rather than getting out to eat.  The pressure in my chest that I had been experiencing and shortness of breath were not a problem today as have felt more like my old self (the last couple of days I just felt old!).

Al, it sounds like you are getting used to your new shoes.  It sounds like your body would have quite an adjustment.

Marilyn, I don't think we have any places here in the south like your coop where you can get things like the black cherry juice.  If we do I don't know about them.

Pat, I am sure Paul wants to be there to help you if he can.  It sounds like you have been in great misery.  Hope the new meds do the job.

Janet

Larry, the first pair of shoes I bought are walking shoes (sneaker type) but then I ordered the sandals.  My sister Jeanie told me that Avon sells some called Curves that are very similar and a lot less pricey, Pat could check those out, too.  I wanted the sandals for an upcoming trip we are taking.

Cherry juice!  Did you all know that tart cherries are one of the very best remedies for gout?  I'm sure they have other benefits, too.

Pat, I'm so sorry you have been so miserable, and am glad Paul is coming.  You need him now, and I'm sure he wants to be there to take care of you.  Now is the time to cash in on your wedding registry!  ;) ;D

Carol, when is your "official" moving date?  Hope all goes smoothly.

I wrote down about a half dozen more of Mom's remembered stories from her early childhood.  Pretty interesting stuff!

Judy, those machines are pretty spendy, huh?  And yet people are waiting for them, so obviously they have the money to buy them.  That's a good thing.

Much love to everyone.

Ruth Ann - 108 degrees sounds lik a lot to me!  If I bent that far, it'd probably break!  Praise our Lord for good recovery!  I'm not altogether sure, though, that you'll want to leave that place!  Getting home, though, will seem pretty wonderful, I'm sure.

Janet

Wonderful news, Ruth Ann!!  Keep up the good work!

SARAH, so glad to hear about the rain!  To farmers in a drought, rain really IS gold!  We have had a couple of really nice rains, too, and are so very thankful for them.  Mark is starting his senior year of college, too.

Today is scrapbooking, and then I work this afternoon, and again tomorrow afternoon.  But not much longer!  ;)

[Ruth Ann so glad you are making such good progress. You are in my prayers.
I am off for a good walk now so hopefully I will be back later to fellowship again. <3

By the way...

If any of you received an invite from me to be your friend, it isn't a virus but that really didn't need to be ticked.  I got an email from Norm Tock on SN saying he had tagged me and I said "Sure, I'm a friend of Norm Tock!" and then I ticked something else (should never do these things when you are unwell).

Well, to make a long story short, everyone in my email address book got invited to be my friend!

The email went to my webhosters, companies I've dealt with, people I don't necessarily want to be my friend!!!, etc. etc. and now I'm getting replies like, "Who are you?  Do I know you?" or "Out of office reply, will reply when I return!", oh, goodness.

Anyway, if you got the invite, and you don't wish to be part of a site that from what I gather is something like Facebook or MySpace, just tick, "No! I dont want to be a friend of Pat!" and you won't hurt my feelings at all!

Pat, I got the Tagged Friends from Norm also.  I clicked until it said I would be charged $14.95 a month unless I cancelled.  Also I ticked where not to send emails to my friends.  Hope that worked.  I guess Norm didn't start it either.  Grrrrr!!!  I haven't been back to my emails for awhile...hope I don't have a bunch of stuff there that I don't want!!!

Larry ~ I didn't ask for the CD from Corel but I got one.  I installed it yesteday and noticed that part of it didn't work.  I re-installed it today and it seems okay now.  I went to watch the tutorials on it and was told I needed Quicktime.  So I tried to download it but said I needed Quicktime -64 bit since I have Vista -64 bit instead of  -32 bit.  I searched for Quicktime -64 bit and it isn't available yet!!!

I am not doing much today...watching the Olympics!

Glad you missed me with the e-mail, Pat

We are having very hot weather at the moment.  I do mean HOT!  My daughter needed a break today, so we went for a drive to where I used to live.  It was even hotter there.  We love a large antique store and like to make one trip per year to enjoy walking thro' the past.  Everything is top notch and beautiful woods, pictures, china, etc.  (Things that were not made in China.)  I was especially moved by two different paintings of dogs.  One in oil and one in pastel.  Made this old quote come alive:

"Life is not measured by
the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments
that take our breath away."

Marilyn, I was interested in what you mentioned about the Black Cherry Juice and bought some today.  Hope it will agree with my tummy.  Thanks for mentioning it...

I caught the interview with Sen. M and plan to watch the first part with Sen. O.  Did not wait to hear CNN tear Sen. M apart, which I am inclined to think they did.  Many of us in Canada take a serious interest in your election.  Especially with the latest problems that the world is facing.

Did I mention that the painter didn't return to finish the work.  Promised to return in July and to do the touch up work and paint the last two rooms. Also the outside of the house. This is a man who claims to be a Christian!  They were fed lovely lunches, coffee and home baking, etc.  He sat telling all his problems and making promises without any intention of doing the work.  Sad.
So my daughter found another painter and  he is supposed to come in Sept.  The Septic tank guy never completed his work....the roof people are supposed to come next month.  Ah, this is progress in the modern world!

Glad that you are doing so well, Ruth Ann.  I keep track of these things on SrNet.  Read, don't post.  Canadians don't post much it seems.  Interesting reading about the adventures of others in different countries.

Hope you are feeling better, Pat.  I have experienced that problem and found the old medications worked better than the new stuff.  Guess that doesn't make drug companies rich, so they keep coming out with new and not better things.   ::)

Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.

Good Morning I am almost ready for church I still have to do my hair. I colored it again yesterday and went only 1 shade darker and it  is pretty dark. I only wanted to get the streaks all the same color as the rest of my hair, I hope it fades out some. I didn't want it this dark.

Not sure yet where I am going to church today. I may go back to the last place I visited. today they are having it at their house outside because the place they normal use had been rented out to something else.

After church I will be back here just taking it easy, reading on the internet, walking the dogs, and having a conversation with my Oregon friend. I am going back up there on Thursday after work coming back on Sunday

Liz  am sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble getting the work on the house finished

Church was awesome.  The message really hit home.  Criticism is not one of the attributes that God gave us.  We all need a lesson in repentance from criticism.

Afterwards four of us ladies ate at Steak and Shake.  We had coupons so it was a reasonably priced meal for each of us.

Not much more happening today.  Just relaxing.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I got a good nights sleep in my own bed last night.  We went to church and enjoyed singing in the choir.  I missed the last two practices and wasn't in attendance last Sunday.  It was good to be back in church.  Today was the beginning of our fall program, which corresponds with school beginning.  Following the service we had a congregational dinner of picnic type foods but served in the fellowship hall.  We had hamburgers, with the trimmings, hot dogs, potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans and ice cream and cookies.  There was a big crowd in attendance.

Our daughter will likely be in the hospital for a few more days as they are going to put the picc line back in as the infection is on the increase again.  They are also going to fit her with a special boot and she is going to need to walk with a walker.  They did give her the dressings and items she needed to attend to her foot last night.  She does her own foot care and they hadn't done a thing about her foot the entire time she was in the ICU.  For some reason they don't seem to be able to treat the whole body.  There is concern on the part of the surgeon that the infection not reach the heart.  We don't plan to go back to the hospital tomorrow as we can talk to her on the phone, which we do fairly quickly.

I am watching some of the Olympics this afternoon and this is about the first time I have been able to watch any of the events.  Our daughter doesn't have cable and only gets a couple of channels on her TV with any degree of quality picture and NCB wasn't one of them.

Janet

Larry, that is just crazy that they didn't take care of her foot while she was in ICU!!  :ticked:  Each part of the body is connected and affects the rest of it!!!  My goodness.  I'm glad you can be at home for a while now.  Get some rest if you can.

Church was really good this morning, then I worked this afternoon until 8.  So I'm a little tired tonight.

I've been enjoying the Olympics, too, but tonight I am watching Sean Hannity's America.

I have so much to do tomorrow that my head is swimming!
