The baby shower last night was so nuce and we didn'thae to play any of the games. The girl's mother gave her the shower and she doesn't like the games either. There was a good turnout.

There was so much to read here this morning that I don't think I can comment on much. Etta Sue I did miss you and wondered where you were hiding. I thought maybe you were in the corner with Jane having such a good confab there that you were ignoring the rest of us. I know how that Jane likes to bend an ear.   :) Just ask me and Al.

Colin I am going to look for your pics of your tree , Janet for your  of the snowmen, and I do hope Nita has posted some of all her lights.

Pat you done great girlfried with the New Beginnings photos of the baby bird.

My Doctor appoint is at 3:45 today PST. Keep me in your prayers.

Jane & Nita ~ Shore Acres!!  I remember that lovely place.  I remember it being so well kept, not a thing out of place and no pruning necessary.  I remember getting to the far corner and wondering what that noise was.  Then I glanced around the wall and there was the Pacific Ocean!  Lovely!

Marilyn ~ I just said a quick prayer that your doctor appointment comes out just fine.

Pat ~ What darling photo of the tiny newborn bird.  I had to cop it for my screen saver.  Beautiful!

Today I take Ivalou to her oral surgeon.  She has something on her tongue that needs removed...it will keep on growing.  Hope she is fine afterwards.  She knows she has to be careful in what she can eat so she stocked up on ice cream!

It is cold....14° wwith a few wind gusts.  Brrrr!

Al Moak

Well, here we are on Tuesday already.  It's quite cool here also.  Don't know the exact temp., but not warm at all.  Frost on the neighbor's roof that I can see as I sit here.  Need to deal with our pastor here about some things, but don't know if he'll be available today.  Please pray he'll be available and I'll have the right words to speak to him about various church issues.

I pray that doctor's appt. will go well with you, Marilyn.  Colin - not surprised that Marlene is still sore - that's to be expected after such an experience.  Many years ago I was in an accident that spun my car completely around, opened the door on the driver's side, and tossed me out for a perfect four-point landing onto the pavement.  I was not seriously injured in any way, but I was indeed sore for a couple of weeks!  I pray that Marlene will experience our Lord's Presence and comfort at this time, and that she'll experience the soreness going away quickly.

Relative to cameras - when I got my Canon digital is was pre-owned, but supposedly refurbished.  It worked out quite well, and I got it for a lot less than I would otherwise.  Maybe a used model is the answer.

Pat

Praying for you, Al, as you seek the Master's will in speaking to your pastor.

Hi Colin.  Maybe even eBay might have a good deal.  My son Andrew got a lovely Nikon Coolpix 995 on eBay for just over $200.00 and it's wonderful.  It's a couple of models up from my first Coolpix that we paid over $1000.00 for!!!  and they got it for $200.00

Thanks Marilyn.

Kevin, thanks again for bringing my "ickle birdie" to CP for the friends to enjoy.  We aren't having a competition on there now till just after Jan. 1 and it will be "Best of 2006" photos that folks can choose of their own.

Hi Kevin..cool camera. I must check out the price. Pat..I shall have a look in Ebay and Amazon.

Thanks Al for your comforting words. It will take time for Marlene to get over her soreness. Thank you also Sue for your kind thoughts. Hello to you also Ruth Ann. Marilyn..you are in my prayers. Hope I have not missed anyone. ::)

We have a beautiful full moon out tonight. I was in the garden earilier on walking around bathed in its light. I even took some photos with my mobile phone. The moon tonight brought to mind the time my friend and I were looking over the ocean at a beautiful full moon shining down on the ocean waves. We stood there transfixed and then my friend asked..Colin..what do you think is farthest away...the moon or America? I replied..can you see America from here where you are standing?... and he answered No!...so I said America must be the farthest away for we can see the moon from here! :uglystupid:

It is amazing how you can read scripture and totally miss the impact of a verse.

John 18:6 KJV As soon as he had said unto them I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

We discussed these words, I know I have read them before, but never "saw" them.  Also another point that was made was that there were about 600 men there.  Here we are studying the laast days before the crucifiction and we are celebrating His birth.  Without the one we wouldn't have the other.

I love the humour here on CP.  It is refreshing, to "hear".  It is evening here in the north and cold.  I have to go to make dinner.

Say has anyone heard of a carrot yam crisp?  I heard the term somewhere yesterday and wondered if I can find the recipe.  We love fruit crisps and this sounds interesting.

God Bless
Judy

Yes Etta Sue ~ it truly is an interesting place all year 'round but, from Thanksgiving Day to New Year's Day, it is decorated with thousands of lights and is really a spectacular display.  After touring the grounds and seeing all the amazing animations and decorated trees you can go into the Garden House and have hot cider and cookies while enjoying all the holiday decorations there.  (Santa is in the bathtub upstairs --- should be all wrinkled by now -- he's been there so long!)  ::)

Hi everyone.  I was away most of the day.  After coffee this morning I took the car in to get 4 new tires on it.  Shortly after I got home, friends picked us up and we went to the Christmas luncheon for our senior's group at church.  We went to the famous Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle, Georgia.  It is an old mansion that has been used as restaurant for many years.  It serves fried green tomatoes and fried chicken as the featured items but had many other delicious things as well. It has such a reputation that people come there from all around by the bus load.  We had almost 30 seniors in our group today and enjoyed the fellowship.  The weather was beautiful and so also enjoyed the ride.  We came home and I was tired so took a nap.

Pat, that is a wonderful photo of the baby bird.

Jane, when I was doing the webpage for the church we had a policy of not posting any photos or names of children.  I guess it is better to be safe than sorry.

I have read all the many postings and enjoyed them.  Till tomorrow.

I am just back from the Doctor, It is nothing but a small Sebaceous cyst just under the skin and not in any breast tissue. If it is still there in a few weeks she will remove it. Praise the Lord.

Yes, Praise the Lord, indeed, Marilyn!!  He is so good, ALL the time!

Larry, your outing sounds just lovely!  So glad you could go.

Colin, good to hear the progressive reports on Marlene.  Good job, getting the tree up and decorated with no holes in either the floor or the ceiling!!

I'm just back from shopping with Pat, and now it is time to go practice for the cantata.  I will have to finish my posting when we get home.

We're back from practice!  It's pretty frustrating in that EVERYONE in it hasn't been at practice at the same time yet.  >:(  It is smoothing out, though, and it'd better--the cantata is this coming Sunday night, the 10th.

Pat, I like your little naked birdie baby.  Isn't that the one that hatched in the wreath on your son's door?

JudyB, I am always amazed at that scripture---"I AM HE"  and the whole bunch of them fell backward!!  Awesome!  I AM has all power, all the time!

Nita, I'm anxious to visit your brightly lit house!  All my lights and decorations are on the inside, but I like 'em.

Jane, glad you came out of your corner to talk to us today!  ;) <3 The place you described sounds wonderful, wish I could spend a couple of hours there.

After all my work and preparations, only two of the ladies I invied for this morning came, and the others didn't bother to call or anything.  But the three of us had a really fun time, anyway. 8)

Hello to Sue, Ruth, Al, Etta Sue, Kevin and all the rest of you!  Talk more tomorrow!  I will, if you will!  ;)

Hi, friends,

I agree - this is a wonderful website. Pat, loved that little photo - they're so sweet and helpless and trusting when they're tiny like that. You did an excellent job.

I have a very long day planned for tomorrow. My daughter's picking me up so that I can take her to the airport at 6 am tomorrow morning. So I'll have plenty of quiet time in the office to think and pray and meditate, and then to get to work before the rest of the "gang" arrives.

There are some lovely places here in Nashville, too. Heritage Village comes to mind - you know, that's the Christian Broadcasting Network home. They decorate it beautifully - play beautiful christmas carols and you wander about the grounds and into the mansion and then back to the gift shop. Also, Opryland Hotel and Resort is spectacular. Over 2 million lights over there this year, they say.

Well, must go - y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann

Nita

Hi.  I'm just bopping in before I head to bed.  Today has been almost non stop.  One of those unplanned days that gathers momentum as it goes. :)
I've had company all day, and tonight my daughter and grandaughter are staying here.  Just a "sleep over". :)

Jane, sorry I didn't get to the phone today.  You know me anyway, so I know you weren't waiting by the phone.

I tried to take pictures of my lights on my fence but none turned out right.
To me it's scads of lights, never having outside lights, but when I take the picture, the truth comes out.  It's just lights along the top of the fence, over the garage door, and a lit Santa on the garage door.  haha

I'm tired tonight, so am headed to lay my head down.  I just had to come hear the news.

Marilyn!! That's such good news.  I know you weren't worried, but I gotta tell you I was concerned.  (Oh, me of little faith, huh?)

g'night all.  Tomorrow is a brand new day.  I'm ready.  Nita

May all you easterners experience great shame - coming in here AFTER us westerners!

The meeting with our pastor went well - better than expected even.  Thanks to our Lord.  Please pray for him, as he's semi-disabled from a fall several years ago.  His spinal column is actually twisted.  The pain keeps him from full concentration when preparing messages, etc.

Al ~ I am ashamed but I have to have my coffee before exploring the internet!!

Marilyn ~ Good news!  I, too, know that you weren't fretting over the diagnosis but better to check and know from someone with the knowledge to know what it is!  Praying that it goes away on its own.

Jane ~ I remember Shore Acres.  I have been there a couple of times many, many years ago!  Am I right that they have a rose garden also?  Makes me think of Alice in Wonderland when I 'see' Shore Acres in my mind's eye.

JudyB ~ I have had a Sweet Potato Casserole that has a crispy top on it like Apple Crisp but I don't have the recipe.  Hope someone finds one for you and you can publish it in 'The Recipe' section here.

Everyone's Christmas decorations sounds fantastic.  Wouldn't it be great for all of us to take a road trip and see each others decorations first hand.  Pat, is the bus ready?

Ivalou came out of the surgery just fine.  We were home before 3pm and she didn't wake up until 9:30pm.  She doesn't even remember leaving the waiting room.   ???  They gave her two pills to melt under her tongue and that was it for her for 8 hours.  She ate some jello and drank some water and went right back to sleep.  I shut off all the lights at 11 and tried to sleep on the couch.  Different heat, could hear the electric heat come on, too light, too hot, too cold...just didn't sleep well at all.  But then I did have a nap in the afternoon so probably wasn't that sleepy at night.  I remember Ivalou taking her pills and going to her bedroom in the night.  We both woke up at daylight this morning.  She was still talking thick tongued but was fine.  I went out and got the paper for her and come home to my kitties.  They were hungry...the bowl was empty!!

Bright and sunny in Central Indiana today!  But that sunshine is deceiving...36°F!!

Janet

Etta Sue, thanks for the coffee (I needed that) and for the message that Jesus loves me today!  So glad Iva Lou is doing so well.  You girls are so blessed to have each other really close.

I had a heavy workout today, and after missing a couple of days, it felt like it!  But I am determined to keep at it.  I know I am much stronger than a lot of people years younger than me.  We need to take care of ourselves!

Al, it must be so hard on your pastor being in constant pain.  I know your congregation upholds him in prayer constantly.  God is still the healer, of our bodies, minds, emotions and spirits.

Nita, the lights just do not show up in pictures like we want them to do, but I know your lit-up place is very pretty.  Don't work so hard today, just catch up on your rest a bit!  ;)

Ruth Ann, it's always so good to hear from you.  It sounds as if things are getting better and better for you and your "kids."  Our kids will still be our kids forever, won't they?  Two of my siblings are now past 70 years old, and mom still refers to them as kids.  :)  (Fits ME, as I am next to the "baby" of the family.)

We have a red hats luncheon today, so I think I better go and get ready!  See you fine folks later.

Jeannine

Good Afternoon all,

Sorry I haven't been posting, been reading though. God is so great and good and the Master Healer. I have been praying for you all and He has answered.

Been trying to figure out how to change the web address for the church and it is a convoluted mess. The bottom line, we can't change the address unless we want to purchase a new domain name. Not with them, my pastor gave me the go ahead to do what I originally wanted to do, start from scratch again.

Also been busy with my folks and Michaell and other little stuff.

I'm glad and thankful to be associated with such a great group of people, guess that means I'm a little off my rocker too.   O well, great minds think alike no matter where they are in the world.

I pray everyone has a God-filled and blessed day!

Blessings,

Good late morning. I have been to Curves for my workout and to Tai Chi, then to the grocery store to but some food for me. I might as well eat as good as the dogs do. :D

When I got home  I laid out  the stuff for the quilt, the backing the blanket I am using to fill it and the top,  I got it all pinned together and trimmed, this one I am going to tie. I will photograph it when it is finished. I am not making anymore quilts for me or  friends until a make some for my family.

Janet  our Red hat group stopped meeting last year i only got to go to two meetings, I haven't gotten around to looking up another group. I need to do that. Wouldn't it be neat if you Etta Sue and I could have our own group. With all the ladies of CP. What a fun group that would be.  <3

My Friend that I am making the quilt for, well she and her husband made me this great Tea Box  I will have to take a photo and show y-all. I thought it was Redwood but as I look at it if it is they must have stained it. because on the outside is doesn't look like Redwood.

Well gotta get busy on the quilt.

Just got off the telephone with Norm McKenna...

Not good news I'm afraid.

Judy was taken down to Hamilton yesterday to see the surgeon who did the surgery on Sept. 17 and he has decided that it must be done again.

So she's in the Guelph Hospital unable to get around at all.  She can get put into a chair and then back to her bed.  She's having red spots and sores starting so please pray that this surgery will be fast.  They think that it will take place within the next week or two.

It Came Upon a Midnight Clear
(Click to hear music)

There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
keeping watch over their flocks at night.
An angel of the Lord appeared to them,
and the glory of the Lord shone around them,
and they were terrified.
Luke 2:8-9

Words: Edmund H. Sears
Music: Richard S. Willis, 1850

It came upon the midnight clear,
That glorious song of old,
From angels bending near the earth,
To touch their harps of gold;
Peace on the earth, good will to men,
From Heaven's all gracious King.
The world in solemn stillness lay,
To hear the angels sing.

Still through the cloven skies they come
With peaceful wings unfurled,
And still their heavenly music floats
O'er all the weary world;
Above its sad and lowly plains,
They bend on hovering wing,
And ever over its Babel sounds
The blessed angels sing.

Yet with the woes of sin and strife
The world has suffered long;
Beneath the angel strain have rolled
Two thousand years of wrong;
And man, at war with man, hears not
The love-song which they bring;
O hush the noise, ye men of strife
And hear the angels sing.

And ye, beneath life's crushing load,
Whose forms are bending low,
Who toil along the climbing way
With painful steps and slow,
Look now! for glad and golden hours
Come swiftly on the wing.
O rest beside the weary road,
And hear the angels sing!

For lo! the days are hastening on,
By prophet-bards foretold,
When with the ever circling years
Comes round the age of gold;
When peace shall over all the earth
Its ancient splendors fling,
And the whole world send back the song
Which now the angels sing.

Well, practice went much more smoothly tonight, so I think it will all come together nicely by Sunday night.  Our church has increased in attendance over the past three years by about four-fold, and tonight we had an informational meeting about purchasing some land to build a new, larger church.  We still have enough space in the sanctuary, but when we have a fellowship dinner, we are packed like sardines, even in the Sunday School rooms.  There were no negative comments at all tonight, everyone seemed in unity about the land purchase, so I pray it will be that way next week when we vote on it.  God is moving in Ulysses, Kansas!!

Ruth Ann, I am leaving you a message.

Hello everyone.  Al, I always come in late.  Later than the Easterners even, and you know how late they are compared to us Westerners. :)

My grandaughter, stayed last night, has ended up having the flu.  She lives with her dad, and he is out of town working on a job, so she is staying here.  Her mom, my daughter, is here with her too.  Angel won't go to her mom's because she doesn't like her step dad.  Oh, me.  I'm just glad gramma's house is here and near. Kim went home today, and was there to cook Paul's dinner tonight.  Then came back over tonight.  Angel is feeling somewhat better tonight I think.  She's had it bad..last night and today.  Also glad that I got the flu shot too.

Pat, so sorry to hear about Judy.  Yes, be sure and tell her we are all thinking of her and praying for her.

Janet, I'm glad that your Christmas program is coming together.  I'd love to be there and attend, but you'll just have to tell us all about it.

Well, it's official, with Jeannine reporting in. We are ALL off our rockers. haha  If we aren't on our rockers, I wonder where we are?  And however did being "off your rocker" get equated with a bit of madness?  That'd be interesting to research.  I think we're all just a tad strange...unique..:)

I am blessed that we are all so different, and we are all accepted just as we are...differences and samenesses.  We make a lovely bouquet for God.  Don't you think so?

I am tired again tonight, with a headache, so I need to get some alone time and get that taken care of.  That's just what I'll do.   love 2 u.  Nita

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I had such a busy day yesterday that I didn't have time to come to CP.  I had turned off my computer on Tuesday night (I usually leave it running over night) and when I turned it on I had black screens.  I turned it off a couple of times and finally it started a diskcheck and found some files that it apparently deleted.  I was gone all morning but when I got home around noon it finally booted normally.  I was concerned that I had crashed the hard disk but now think it is OK.  I hesitate to turn it off but, of course, will have to do so periodically.

We went back to the church early last evening, after having had Bible Study in the morning, and had dinner there.  One of our members may have had a heart attack right after the meal as they had to call 911 and take him to the hospital.  The family called the pastor about 9 pm and said the man was stabilized but they were going to have to do a lot of tests.  He has not been well for several years.

We had a two hour choir practice last night.  Janet, we still have two more major practices as we still have some rough spots to work out.  However, I think it is coming together.  We are singing with an orchestral accompaniment from a CD for the first time.  So it is taking some getting used to but is beautiful music so should be fine.  I sure know what you mean about not having all the members of the choir at practice.  This is quite common with our choir but it doesn't seem to bother then director and we have a cadre that are almost always there.

Marilyn, I was delighted to read your good news on your visit to the doctor.  My cousins wife had radical breast surgery last Wednesday and they had found a trace of cancer in the lymph nodes.  However, they removed a pad of lymph nodes and there was no sign of cancer so she is not going to have to have radiation.  We are praising God for his goodness.

Nita, sorry to hear your granddaughter is sick.  I sure hope you don't get the flu.

Certainly saddened to read of the situation for Judy Mc.  I certainly hope she doesn't have pressure sores develop as those are very painful.  My father had a stage 4 pressure sore that was just terrible and gave him a lot of pain.

Jeannine, I fear that someone gave you bad advice in terms of not being able to move your church website domain name to another ISP.  That is done all the time.  My friend did it this last year with a website he maintains.  However, it sounds like you might be well served to start over with the website as then you will be completely familiar with  its structure and maintenance.

Ruth Ann, nice of you to take your daughter to the airport.  At the Atlanta airport the parking is now at least $9 per day and more in the close up lots.

Etta Sue, glad you are available to help your sister.  You mentioned the sweet potato casserole.  We had some really delicious casserole at the Blue Willow Inn on Tuesday and it had lost of nuts in the topping.  It was almost like desert.

Al, glad you had a good session with your pastor.  The pastor of our church when we joined had terrible back problems and in taking the pain medicine for the pain he became addicted to the drugs.  He had moved to another church but it cost him his pastorate and also his marriage.  It was certainly said as he was a wonderful pastor and teacher.  I know he has been in a rehab program.

Hi Pat and Colin and all who visit here today.

Marilyn

Good Morning, Good to see you Larry you were the first one this morning.

I have to go to work early today as Jan has an appointment with the foot Doctor at 8:30 AM.  I have had to be somewhere every night this weeks so far and am looking forward to tonight when I can be at home. Usually I am gone only on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.  With the weather getting colder I don't like to be out after dark. I want to be where I am nice and warm.

I think I told y-all that I got the quilt all pinned together, I have started tying it. I should have it done in a few days.

Janet it sounds like your growing church is the place to be. We have them come and go. Just this past week another  couple found a church closer to them and have changed over. We have lost  so many of the ones who were the when I came  to McKinleyville. But we have new  people too. I am one who will continue to stand behind my Pastors, I am not going anywhere. I live only  about a city block from the church, if we had city blocks here.

Time to start decorating the site for Christmas!

It's noon and I haven't done anything constructive since getting out of bed!!

Suddenly I am having pain around my waist.  I don't know what it is but I can't seem to move in a position to get rid of it.  So I am going to go lie down awhile.

Janet

Etta Sue, sorry about your pain and hope it goes away quickly.  I had been having pain in my right leg, thought I may have done something to it while exercising.  So Kristi stretched me really good, and it seems to have helped.  For a couple of days it really bothered me.

I have been swimming (3/4 mile today) and then to the doctor to discuss my cholesterol (down considerably, but he thinks it's still too high, even though my "good is really good!") so he wants me to take Zetia for three months.  Then to the Care home to see Mom and Beth, now here I am again!  And, isn't all this just fascinating??  ;)

Yes, Marilyn, our church is doing great, which means it is attracting the attention of the enemy, and it is time for all of us to guard our hearts, minds and TONGUES to preserve the unity of the body.  Hope your church can retain the new ones who come in, too.

Larry, we are using CDs of the music for our cantata, too.  Pastor's wife is directing it, and took out several songs so we could put the children in.  They are each giving a little short reading, then singing three songs.  Also Pastor will give a short mini sermon and an altar call, so we couldn't use all the songs or the program would be too long.  I was sorry, though that some of the ones we aren't singing were my favorites.  Can't please everyone, right?

Nita, sorry Angel got the nasty old flu.  Yucky stuff.  I'm glad you had your flu shot and pray it protects you---along with prayer!!

I'm so sorry about poor Judy McKenna.  That poor little thing has certainly suffered a lot, and it's still ongoing.  I will continue to pray for her, and for Norm as well.  Pat, please keep us posted on her condition.

Time to go do something constructive!  I have more wrapping to do, then who knows what else I will find.

Our little town is having a Christmas Light Parade tonight, and our church has a float in it.  Should be a fun evening.

I a sobered today.  A friend is through the worst of his legal problems. Pray for the family.  God knows the details. :(

What a cold night we have had.  Frost on the windows and that is a rare thing at this tie of year.  I heard that we were to get another 15 cms of snow last night, but thankfully it didn't materialize.

I found the recipe that I was looking for.....printed it out....and lost it.  :bonk:  When I find it back I will post it, that way I will be able to find it if I loose it again!  :)

Today is Melaura's birthday.  She planned to sleep till noon, but was up and at it by 10:00.  I don'r think 16 looks any different than yesterday!  ;D

John will be home tonight.  He is no longer driving, he is now the Director of Personnel of a trucking ministry.  He is good at what he does, but I know I am prejudiced.  His philosophy in the job is "If you do your job, then I won't have to do my job.  If you don't do your job, I WILL do mine."  Keep him in prayer, this requires some travelling, in our vehicle, not a truck.

Well I have to put wood in the furnace, Etta Sue I would have loved to hear the baseboard heaters foing on and off last night!  We get cold and have to again fill the furnace.  One thing about it the wood is free. :) so we don't have that expence.

Pat any word on JudyMc?  Also David's stuff arrived today.  I will get yours down to you . :thumbsup2:

Bye for now
Love JudyB
