Morning Devotional...

Psalm Psalm 9:6-8, 13.  "O enemy, destructions are finished forever!  And you have destroyed cities; even their memory has perished.  But the Lord shall endure forever; He has prepared His throne for judgement.  He shall judge the world in righteousness, and He shall administer judgement for the people in uprightness.  Have mercy on me, O Lord!  Consider my trouble from those who hate me, You Who lift me up from the gates of death."

The key words in this psalm are, "but the Lord shall endure forever."  The wicked of this world have indeed done many terrible things.  They have even destroyed cities so that even the memory of them has perished.  For this reason, the wicked come to think of themselves as invincible - they boast in their accomplishments.

But what they don't realize is that there is a Judge Who sits in the heavens quite unruffled by all their shouting and boasting.  He easily outlasts them all, and He silently but inexorably prepares their quick and final destruction!  When it comes it will be fitting and it will be final.

That's why David can confidently pray for mercy.  He's experienced the merciful hand of the Lord before.  He's been lifted even from the very gates of death, and he knows that, at last, he will be be able to "tell all Your praise," and "rejoice in Your salvation!"  He summarizes it when he says, "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God, for the needy shall not always be forgeotten; the expectations of the poor shall not perish forever."

The application to us is this: NEVER GIVE UP!  God has not left His throne.  Just be sure you are righteous, and then, at exactly the right time, He'll take up your case - and His judgement will be evident to all, and you will triumph at last! About the time the enemy of your soul is partying and boasting, then he will be silenced, and YOU will do the rejoicing!

A mighty fortress is our God
(Click to hear music)

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God's own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His Name, from age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The body they may kill: God's truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever.

Larry Hanna

HI everyone.  Just a few minutes before I leave for coffee.  I am happy to say I am feeling much better this morning than I did yesterday.  My heart was really acting up yesterday.  I did manage to go to church but didn't go back for Sunday School after having taken Pat to the church early.  She had to stay after the service to help with the craft sale but I told her I needed to come on home and rest and so she got a ride with friends to get home.  I spent most of the day in bed and then went back to bed around 7 pm.  Anyway, looking forward to a good day today.

Colin, sometimes it takes things like the accident or some, what seems like terrible event at the time, in our lives to make us wakeup and "smell the roses" and appreciate the marvelous grace of God and his protection.  The last few months I know we have seen miracles occur in our lives.  I realize that they were occurring before but often I was too dense to recognize them.  I am so grateful to God for each day.

Janet, your small get-togethers sound like a great thing to do.  Our church over the years has stressed small groups and it truly is the way to get to know people.  Sorry about Darrel's TV set and hope it isn't anything serious.

Al, thanks for the fine devotional this morning.  I needed those words as well.

Jane, it is go great to know that God is control of our lives.

Well time to head out.  Hope this will be a glorious day for you all.

Colin

THREE

King David sinned and his actions were bad
God sent to him his prophet Gad
Three things; said the prophet; God offers you
Make a choice and that He will do

But David could not make a choice of the three
I will leave it to God to do what He wills to me
The three things are terrible; Gad you understand
I will leave it to God's mercy and fall into His hand

A choice we must make but not a difficult one
It's whether we accept or reject God's only Son
On Calvary hill the crosses numbered three
And on the middle one Jesus died for you and me

After three day in the darkness of the grave
Risen and glorified and willing to save
The triune God; three divine spirits as one
The Father; the Holy Spirit and Jesus the Son

Three men heeded not what they had been told
To worship and bow to the image made of gold
For they choose God and not a King's desire
And Nebuchadnezzar threw them into the fire

Three men who faced a terrible fate
Chose to obey God and did not hesitate
For they knew whatever He did decide
It was better for them to be on God's side

From the convictions of their faith they did not turn
Rather than disobey God it was better to burn
Three men were blessed in what they had done
In the midst of the flames with them stood God's own Son

To the Son of God three gifts were given
For wise men knew He was a greater gift from Heaven
A choice to make; to the challenge you must rise
And to decide for God is the only thing wise

Three weeks to go to Christmas day. You would all be lost if I did not keep reminding you! ^-^

Hi Larry...It is good to smell the roses!

Hi Jane... I think you are a bit like myself. I am quiet too and like to sit and look out windows. If there is at least three in a room.. I am the one listening and putting in an odd comment. I do not like being the centre of attention. I enjoyed visiting your website and please be proud of it for it is off you and from you and it is yours. I hope you keep adding more to it. If you are not here..I will know you are in the background smiling. God bless.

Hello to everyone else...by the way Janet...thanks for telling me the colours you used in your paintings of the snowmen. I sure would love to see them.

God bless

Hi Jane...are you 5' 3" standing up or lying down? Just curious!

Hi Marilyn...When you know God is in control of events one must try and listen to what He is saying or why things happen the way they do. Marlene was awful sore this morning...hopefully the doctor will give her stronger painkillers later on. I am trying not to make her laugh..it hurts her.

Good Morning Y'all!

Been lurking lately, no time to post.  Colin, sorry to hear of your wife's accident but so thankfull she is ok.

Today is my baby's 10th birthday. :'(  Now he is not a baby anymore, much less a little boy.  Where did the time go?
Got to go birthday shopping today, and bake his birthday cake!  I remember when my mother would bake me a cake for my birthday.  Wonderful memories!

I hope everyone has a great day today, and may God richly bless each one.

Good Afternoon folks.  It is a sunny day here, John has just left to travel around the province.  He will have good roads today.

We have small group today, I do enjoy these evenings, getting together with friends and studying the Bible together.  I have to get busy and get some baking done It is my turn today to provide the snack with the study.

The girls are studying spelling words that have a latin root.  It is fun listening to them try to pronounce the latin root.

Well had better get going and get baking.

Bye for now

Janet

I slept an hour later this morning than usual.  Guess I must have needed it!

I'm busy today, cleaning a bit and baking for my little party in the morning.  I hope several come.

Larry, thanks......Darrel found the problem with his TV.  The light tube (looks like a bulb to me!) burned out and broke, so he has another one ordered, to the tune of $300!!  :o  Man!  For just the bulb?!?!?!  He just bought this set in Feb. of 04.  Seems to me the bulb should have lasted longer.

A friend called and asked us to come eat at the Sr. Center and to bring the China album, so we did.  I see people getting bored quickly, even after all my hours of hard work.  :(  But I guess you have to have either gone there, want to go there, or be interested in world history.  It's okay, I made the album for us, and we enjoy the memories it brings to mind.

We have also been asked to present a program for the Lions Club, and to talk to our Sunday School Class about China, on Jan. 14 and 15.  Maybe it won't bore them to hear us talk.  ;)

Nice devotional for the week, Al.  Thanks for the heads-up about it being three weeks to Christmas, Colin!  I do need reminding. ^-^

And I'm not even mentioning my height, for fear of getting the same question!!

:coffee:

I was trying to put some Christmas lights up and had tied a board against a tree that I was going to criss-cross lights over.  Well, after coming out with too many lights, I guessed my calculations were not right so I was trying to measure that board with a tape measure and havin' the hardest time.  Each time I'd get the tip of the measure 3/4 of the way up, it would come tumblin' down.  My son walked by and said with a chuckle, "Dad, why don't you lay the board down and then measure its length?"  I answered, "because, smarty pants, I want to know the height of the board, not the length!"

Anyway, the outside and inside of the house is very nicely decorated.  I have posted a couple of new picts in the gallery, though none of the house yet.

Speaking of light...

Nevertheless, that time of darkness and despair will not go on forever. The land of Zebulun and Naphtali will soon be humbled, but there will be a time in the future when Galilee of the Gentiles, which lies along the road that runs between the Jordan and the sea, will be filled with glory.  The people who walk in darkness will see a great light—a light that will shine on all who live in the land where death casts its shadow.  Israel will again be great, and its people will rejoice as people rejoice at harvesttime. They will shout with joy like warriors dividing the plunder.  For God will break the chains that bind his people and the whip that scourges them, just as he did when he destroyed the army of Midian with Gideon's little band.  In that day of peace, battle gear will no longer be issued. Never again will uniforms be bloodstained by war. All such equipment will be burned.

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. And the government will rest on his shoulders. These will be his royal titles: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  His ever expanding, peaceful government will never end. He will rule forever with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David. The passionate commitment of the Lord Almighty will guarantee this!  Isaiah 9 (NLT)

Hi Janet..I guess you are the same height from feet to head as you are from head to feet. These things are hard to understand I know but there you go. Janet... you can chat to me about your album of China over a nice chinese take away and a nice china cup of tea. On our TV at the moment there are programnes about a retired preacher going round China to find out about Christianity. He tells about what is allowed by the state and about the underground church. It is very interesting. I would love to walk along the great wall of China. It is not nice when people show no interest in your work after putting so much effort in to it. Take care Janet.

Slowly getting the Christmas tree finished. I put the lights and most of the decorations on it and Marlene the soul is adding a few more baubles. She got stronger painkillers today and hopefully she will get more ease from her pain.
Goodbye for now...God bless

Hi Kevin...Just saw you mate. These young boys think they know everything dont they Kevin? I would have measured it the same as you!  ;)

I'm Baaack!!!  You didn't even miss me, did you?   :-\ :-[   :ticked:

I came home from being with Tony and Charlene Friday night and no DSL...no internet.  Then when I got up Saturday, I had four lights on the modem but after breakfast and devotions, only two lights...no internet.  I called my DSL people.  Of course, they can't send anyone on Saturday or Sunday and the appointment was today between 3 and 5 pm.  But the phone rang at 8 am and the DSL tech said he would be here in a few minutes.  He checked the post outside, the box on the outside of the house, the phone jack by the computer, the other 5 phone jacks in the house...all was fine but no DSL.  Finally he said he was going to the junction box about a half mile away and see if anything was awry there.  He called back and said there are 12 customers without DSL...only 4 of us called in...and that Embarq needed to send someone to install a new card.  That was around 11 this morning.  At 3:30pm I had internet again.  Talk about withdrawals!!

Saturday night was our Victorian Dinner.  Some of you remember me posting pictures of the Victorian dinner but no one said anything this year to me about pictures, so I left my camera at home and enjoyed looking at all the decorated tables and listening to the speaker.  Ivalou, my sister, Jo and Teresa, Ivalou's two daughters, and Edie, Ivalou's grand daughter went with me this year.

Then Sunday was Ivalou's Christmas at her house.  There was twenty-two of us there.  What an enjoyable time!

Colin ~ Do give Marlene extra hugs and kisses just to show her you really don't want to lose her.  God is certainly good, isn't he?  I never have my doubts about him but he sure instilled my faith in Him when I read the close call that Marlene and her cousin endured!  Wow!

Jane ~ I love your Website.  Keep up the good work.  I miss your posts cause I really enjoy reading them.  You are like a lot of us...a warped sense of humor.... :idiot:  Well, I am speaking for myself.  I guess someone with a warped sense of humor thinks everyone has a warped sense of humor...(Whew! I think I got out of that okay....)

I won't commment on everyone's post.  Just know I missed you guys while my internet was down...

Hello everyone.  I am finally settling down to write a few words for you here.

Colin I am the same tall as I am flat on my back and from head to foot as well as foot to head give or take that ½inch.

I have wrapped all my Christmas gifts and next will be the card to get done. i went to Curves about 7 AM and actually lost a pound. Whew I thought that would never happen.  I have walked the dogs and tonight I am going to a baby shower at the church.

The Social worker at the care home where Ruth is call me today and they want me to work 8 hrs per day with her. I think it is going to have to be a split shift because they want me to put her to bed too. I will find out as we go along.

That's all for now folks.

Hi Etta Sue...I would give Marlene a tight hug but she is too sore to squeeze! It was a very bad smash and God is the reason  Marlene and Margaret were carried away from it living. Marlene managed to mobile me from inside the crashed car and my son Steven; who was listening in. quickly went to the crash scene.  I had to wait on Gregory coming home half an hour later as I was busy packing a suitcase in case Marlene would have to stay overnight in hospital. Marlene had assured me that she and Margaret were all right so that had eased my mind a little but I was still frantic. Thank God for HIS mercy.
Etta Sue..it is so lovely to see you back. I DID MISS YOU!! :'(

Hi Marilyn...how are you? So glad you lost a pound. You are doing well. Keep it up.

You know...I am sitting laughing at that big BAAAACK!! that Etta Sue used. That is a wumin that ken gulder. ;D

Hello to everyone else...so nice to be here and not alone.

Colin,

I thought my board-measurin' attempt at humor might be the key to your riddles... ;D  I am a mere 5'6"inches/165cm tall when standing, and when lying down, and this is no lie, the same length as I was tall  .  Now, if I could figure out how to reduce the circumference of my midsection, when either lying or standing, without a great deal of pain, I'd be a happy fella.

Yup, I did miss you!   :-\  Sorry you had so much problems with/without your internet connection.

It's funny (to me) that I have basically ignored my website for a very long time.  I only went there the other day to check Colin's comment in my guest book. ( It was then that I realized the counter wasn't even working!     ???  )

I used to have a very elaborate website with AOL.  A friend from SN showed me how to make tables and I had photos of all my kids, their kids and their kids' kids there... Also lots of poems and music files, etc.  Then came the day when my daughter (or her husband, to be exact) decided I couldn't have any more photos of their kids because they didn't want them on the internet.  One of my grandsons also became very protective of his kids so... all photos for Grandma ceased to exist!  I promised on bended knee, with much pleading, that I would never again post any of their photos anywhere but I guess they didn't trust me.   :-[   :-\

Anyway, I finally decided to quit AOL and didn't have a clue what to do with my webpage ... or how to keep it up on the big www.

I tried to save some of the photos, and went to Thirdage but the enthusiasm was all gone.... and I don't have a clue how to put music files on that website.

I basically ignored the whole thing and lost all interest after Jean died, too.  About a year ago a friend from SN told me she "couldn't get to Jean's page" and I told her that was 'cause there was no such thing.  It was then that I wrote that last page and uploaded it and forgot about it.  That is until Colin wrote that he had been to visit.  Okay ... TMI but I just thought I should 'splain myself a bit here.

As for our "warped sense of humor" .... hmmmm   I have always been told I have a "wry humor"  or "dry humor" ... maybe when it gets dry it warps?   ??? ::) ;D  Anyway ... I like myself and God loves me and that's all that matters to me any more... so there!   :)

P.S. Hey there, Kevin -- you snuck in while I was contemplating....

I get your (and Colin's) idea about the length/height thing.... But he coulda said length y'know!!  hmmmmph   >:(  I am NOT as tall lying down as standing, by the way!   :D
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Well, y'all, I've heard that Abraham Lincoln (Colin, that's one of our more famous presidents) replied when someone asked how tall he was that his legs were just long enough to reach the floor.

I most likely can measure my legs the same way, but must confide that my four-poster bed is too tall for me, so I step on a footstool, then get in bed.

It's good to hear from everyone today - wow, time really flies fast, doesn't it. Such a short time until Christmas.

Oh, Boy!  Colin and Kevin make quite the pair, don't they?   So glad that Marlene feels enough better to add a few baubles to the tree.  Gentle hugs to her ((((hugs)))).

I have things as ready as they will be for my little shindig in the morning.  I told my friend Pat that if anyone comes to my house looking for dirt, I wouldn't want to disappoint them!  When you invite folks over who have never been in your house, you start to see it with "new" eyes, and things don't always look so good.  Hmmmm.

Colin, I will take a photo of the snowmen candleholder before I wrap it up, and post it on here.  If I can remember how!  :-[

I'm tired, and busy day coming up.  I'm going to go to Garden with Pat after the ladies leave tomorrow, and do a bit of Christmas shopping.  Actually, I'm nearly done, and have most of my cards out.  Feels pretty good!  I'm usually much later getting it done.

Jane, I will go look at your web page if I can find it.

Etta Sue, of course we missed you!  I thought you had probobly gone for another little trip!  I'm sure you enjoyed the Victorian dinner without having to take so many photos, though they were so nice.  Sometimes it's nice to just ENJOY.

Be good, kids, I will be back to check on you!  ;)

Hello everyone.  I was trying to decide if I even got in here yesterday.  If not, I've read everyone's posts.  Yes, you are all sort of strange. :)   I used to read and smile at good news and neat things you say.  Now I find myself laughing out loud, thanks to Kevin and Colin.  My sense of humor.  I guess I'm strange too. haha

I've been busy doing little stuff today.  I did do a little thing on using PSP and framed it.  I'm hanging it for Christmas.  I'll post it in the Christmas Challenge if anyone wants to see it.

It IS getting close to Christmas!!   I haven't bought one gift yet. LOL  I keep thinking that I don't have much money, so will be getting less for those I get for, and that keeps me from getting started.  I know they will like whatever I get, but it's hard to say "Gramma is broke this year".  Well, actually I've said it and I think they thought I was kidding.

But, oh boy, do I have a lit up house!!!  I've never had this many decorations.  My son put the outside lights up today.  Sue said she'd pay the extra on the light bill. haha  She really wanted this, so I got caught up in the happy. :)

Colin, I've printed out your My Jesus poem.  I have to do it again because I don't like how I've lined it up or the font.  I let my daughter read it, and of course, she wants a copy too.   I'll do it again and frame it this week.

Oh, I'm so sorry about the accident but so grateful that all are ok.  Poor Marlene. I pray she'll be back to her pain free self very soon.  Did you say how Margaret was doing now?

Jane, I just read your last page that others mentioned.  I hadn't seen that page, I don't think.  Maybe I did and forgot.  I know it's hard when things that are/were important to you don't seem to follow to another generation.
We've already talked about how we're giving pictures to our kids now.  Paring down, I think it's called. haha     I'm so glad you have your two daughters who love you and care about you.

I think I'm shorter than I was taller before.  And probably taller than I'll ever be.  But not as short as I could be.  Last bone density test shows a 6 percent improvement. yoohoo!

Marilyn, congratulations on the pound loss.  You deserved it.  And about time too, eh?

I can't remember what everyone posted, and that's no surprise.  I'll just say goodnight and see what the dogs are up to.  Oh yes.....and post my picture first.             Nita, who is waiting for Christmas

Hi, Janet.  I almost didn't see you.  It's really easy to post your snowman in the Christmas challenge place.  I want to see it too.

Jane Walker

Hey there Nita ...  :hello:

I changed my candles from Thanksgiving tan and orange to Christmas red ... That's it for decorating at my house!   :-\   :D

I was thinking about calling you a while ago ... obviously I didn't but here you are so I get to "see" you after all!  I can only imagine your place all lit up for Christmas.  Did you get out to Shore Acres this weekend?  Joy really enjoyed our tour last week.  I think she was surprised, too!

Hi Janet ... yup, it's me over here in the corner ... just listenin' and watchin' .... think I'll have another  :coffee:

Colin, I am thankful that Marlene is still with you, and I pray that she regains some of her strength back before next week. You both will have some celebrating to do!

Marilyn, want to come wrap my presents?  Or write my cards, or do some baking?  I fear I may not get much done this year....once again, time is getting away from me!

Ruthie, Happy Birthday if you look in!

Now, time for bed and work again in the morning.

"New Beginnings" was the name of a photo competition over at Photography Cafe.  Our very own Pat was the top vote-getter!  Her photo beat out 39 others entered! :thumbsup2:

Here's her winning picture!

Oh, Pat...that is so precious!  You couldn't get a better "New Beginning".  Congratulations on your win.  I don't see how you could NOT win with a picture like that.  You must be proud of it. :)

Jane, I was gonna call you tonight too...but didn't.  I will call tomorrow.  And speaking of Christmas....I decided to do it at my house this year. (I can do this..I can do this...I can do this. haha)   Do you have plans?  It's the usual for us, you know.  Nope, never got to Shore Acres yet.  It was all purty, eh?

Happy Birthday, Ruthie!! :)

Colin, does Pat know when your Birthday is?  She does, doesn't she?

Thank you so much, Kevin for sharing my joy of winning that competition with the folks here.

I was totally shocked.

I was unable to sleep and so got up and decided to look into our gallery and am overwhelmed by the work of one of our members.  Please have a look.  What great images he has and he has scripture on his work.

O Little Town of Bethlehem
(Click to hear music)

Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you shall come for me one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.
Micah 5:2

Words: Phillips Brooks, 1867

Music: Lewis H. Redner, 1868

O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by.
Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary, and gathered all above,
While mortals sleep, the angels keep their watch of wondering love.
O morning stars together, proclaim the holy birth,
And praises sing to God the King, and peace to men on earth!

How silently, how silently, the wondrous Gift is giv'n;
So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of His heav'n.
No ear may hear His coming, but in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him still, the dear Christ enters in.

Where children pure and happy pray to the blessed Child,
Where misery cries out to Thee, Son of the mother mild;
Where charity stands watching and faith holds wide the door,
The dark night wakes, the glory breaks, and Christmas comes once more.

O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin, and enter in, be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel!

Colin,

About a camera...not sure how much a "ton" is, but I've found a camera that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and is Canon's newest compact digital camera--it's very impressive.  Maybe you can check on the prices in your part of the world--everything here costs a few tons (I think).

Here's the link...

http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Product_Finder/Cameras/Digital_Camera/PowerShot/PowerShot_G7/index.asp?ComponentID=393634&SourcePageID=384853#1

Once you let me know which direction we need to go price-wise, we can work from there.

I'm just trying to figure out how I can convince Midori that she needs this camera ;) .

For the folks in the US, here's the Canon USA link...

Hi everyone...another quick visit. Have been cooking and doing the washing. It is out drying on the line and by the look of the darkening sky..the rain is not far away! :(
I have posted some photos of the Christmas tree. I have just remembered I have something else to put on it but it is more or less finished. Some more decorations to put up and then that will be that!

Hi Kevin...have not checked out the camera yet but I will! Thank you very much.I fancy I will get a camcorder. I had one before (which decided not to work and was too dear to repair) and I so enjoyed using it. I always like to buy the best I can afford but I have always have to work to a tight budget. By the way..a ton is £100.

Hi Pat..congratulations on wining the competition. A brilliant photo which fulfills completely the requirement of the competion..New Beginings. Well done you!
Another lovely carol you have posted.

Hi Jane...Take care. I am going back for another visit to your website. Just get me an easy chair to sit in. Ta!

Hi Janet...It will be nice to see your snowmen! Marlene is still sore. The minister came up to visit. He is a bit of a comic...he told her to make a slow recovery so I would have all the cleaning; cooking etc to do! Around March would be soon enough to be on her feet. He is a wag! ::) He admired the Christmas tree and then said if it had been any higher I would have had to put a hole in the ceiling for the star. I said I thought that was a better idea than mine for I was going to dig a hole in the floor to lower the tree.

Hi Nita...If I could get my scanner to work I would do you the poem myself and post it to you. That is nice your daughter wants one as well. As I am typing this..my friend Joe; who writes the gospel page in one of our newspaper; mobiled for me to send him a Christmas and New year poem for the paper. I will have to get that done. Thank you for your concern about Marlene. Margaret is sore but thankfully all right.

I must go now for there are visitors in so i am sorry if I have missed any of you. I will try and get back later.

The baby shower last night was so nuce and we didn'thae to play any of the games. The girl's mother gave her the shower and she doesn't like the games either. There was a good turnout.

There was so much to read here this morning that I don't think I can comment on much. Etta Sue I did miss you and wondered where you were hiding. I thought maybe you were in the corner with Jane having such a good confab there that you were ignoring the rest of us. I know how that Jane likes to bend an ear.   :) Just ask me and Al.

Colin I am going to look for your pics of your tree , Janet for your  of the snowmen, and I do hope Nita has posted some of all her lights.

Pat you done great girlfried with the New Beginnings photos of the baby bird.

My Doctor appoint is at 3:45 today PST. Keep me in your prayers.

Jane & Nita ~ Shore Acres!!  I remember that lovely place.  I remember it being so well kept, not a thing out of place and no pruning necessary.  I remember getting to the far corner and wondering what that noise was.  Then I glanced around the wall and there was the Pacific Ocean!  Lovely!

Marilyn ~ I just said a quick prayer that your doctor appointment comes out just fine.

Pat ~ What darling photo of the tiny newborn bird.  I had to cop it for my screen saver.  Beautiful!

Today I take Ivalou to her oral surgeon.  She has something on her tongue that needs removed...it will keep on growing.  Hope she is fine afterwards.  She knows she has to be careful in what she can eat so she stocked up on ice cream!

It is cold....14° wwith a few wind gusts.  Brrrr!

Al Moak

Well, here we are on Tuesday already.  It's quite cool here also.  Don't know the exact temp., but not warm at all.  Frost on the neighbor's roof that I can see as I sit here.  Need to deal with our pastor here about some things, but don't know if he'll be available today.  Please pray he'll be available and I'll have the right words to speak to him about various church issues.

I pray that doctor's appt. will go well with you, Marilyn.  Colin - not surprised that Marlene is still sore - that's to be expected after such an experience.  Many years ago I was in an accident that spun my car completely around, opened the door on the driver's side, and tossed me out for a perfect four-point landing onto the pavement.  I was not seriously injured in any way, but I was indeed sore for a couple of weeks!  I pray that Marlene will experience our Lord's Presence and comfort at this time, and that she'll experience the soreness going away quickly.

Relative to cameras - when I got my Canon digital is was pre-owned, but supposedly refurbished.  It worked out quite well, and I got it for a lot less than I would otherwise.  Maybe a used model is the answer.

Pat

Praying for you, Al, as you seek the Master's will in speaking to your pastor.

Hi Colin.  Maybe even eBay might have a good deal.  My son Andrew got a lovely Nikon Coolpix 995 on eBay for just over $200.00 and it's wonderful.  It's a couple of models up from my first Coolpix that we paid over $1000.00 for!!!  and they got it for $200.00

Thanks Marilyn.

Kevin, thanks again for bringing my "ickle birdie" to CP for the friends to enjoy.  We aren't having a competition on there now till just after Jan. 1 and it will be "Best of 2006" photos that folks can choose of their own.

Hi Kevin..cool camera. I must check out the price. Pat..I shall have a look in Ebay and Amazon.

Thanks Al for your comforting words. It will take time for Marlene to get over her soreness. Thank you also Sue for your kind thoughts. Hello to you also Ruth Ann. Marilyn..you are in my prayers. Hope I have not missed anyone. ::)

We have a beautiful full moon out tonight. I was in the garden earilier on walking around bathed in its light. I even took some photos with my mobile phone. The moon tonight brought to mind the time my friend and I were looking over the ocean at a beautiful full moon shining down on the ocean waves. We stood there transfixed and then my friend asked..Colin..what do you think is farthest away...the moon or America? I replied..can you see America from here where you are standing?... and he answered No!...so I said America must be the farthest away for we can see the moon from here! :uglystupid:

More visitors in so I must go...God bless

It is amazing how you can read scripture and totally miss the impact of a verse.

John 18:6 KJV As soon as he had said unto them I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

We discussed these words, I know I have read them before, but never "saw" them.  Also another point that was made was that there were about 600 men there.  Here we are studying the laast days before the crucifiction and we are celebrating His birth.  Without the one we wouldn't have the other.

I love the humour here on CP.  It is refreshing, to "hear".  It is evening here in the north and cold.  I have to go to make dinner.

Say has anyone heard of a carrot yam crisp?  I heard the term somewhere yesterday and wondered if I can find the recipe.  We love fruit crisps and this sounds interesting.

God Bless
Judy

Yes Etta Sue ~ it truly is an interesting place all year 'round but, from Thanksgiving Day to New Year's Day, it is decorated with thousands of lights and is really a spectacular display.  After touring the grounds and seeing all the amazing animations and decorated trees you can go into the Garden House and have hot cider and cookies while enjoying all the holiday decorations there.  (Santa is in the bathtub upstairs --- should be all wrinkled by now -- he's been there so long!)  ::)

Hi everyone.  I was away most of the day.  After coffee this morning I took the car in to get 4 new tires on it.  Shortly after I got home, friends picked us up and we went to the Christmas luncheon for our senior's group at church.  We went to the famous Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle, Georgia.  It is an old mansion that has been used as restaurant for many years.  It serves fried green tomatoes and fried chicken as the featured items but had many other delicious things as well. It has such a reputation that people come there from all around by the bus load.  We had almost 30 seniors in our group today and enjoyed the fellowship.  The weather was beautiful and so also enjoyed the ride.  We came home and I was tired so took a nap.

Pat, that is a wonderful photo of the baby bird.

Jane, when I was doing the webpage for the church we had a policy of not posting any photos or names of children.  I guess it is better to be safe than sorry.

I have read all the many postings and enjoyed them.  Till tomorrow.

I am just back from the Doctor, It is nothing but a small Sebaceous cyst just under the skin and not in any breast tissue. If it is still there in a few weeks she will remove it. Praise the Lord.

Larry, your outing sounds just lovely!  So glad you could go.

Colin, good to hear the progressive reports on Marlene.  Good job, getting the tree up and decorated with no holes in either the floor or the ceiling!!

I'm just back from shopping with Pat, and now it is time to go practice for the cantata.  I will have to finish my posting when we get home.

We're back from practice!  It's pretty frustrating in that EVERYONE in it hasn't been at practice at the same time yet.  >:(  It is smoothing out, though, and it'd better--the cantata is this coming Sunday night, the 10th.

Pat, I like your little naked birdie baby.  Isn't that the one that hatched in the wreath on your son's door?

JudyB, I am always amazed at that scripture---"I AM HE"  and the whole bunch of them fell backward!!  Awesome!  I AM has all power, all the time!

Nita, I'm anxious to visit your brightly lit house!  All my lights and decorations are on the inside, but I like 'em.

Jane, glad you came out of your corner to talk to us today!  ;) <3 The place you described sounds wonderful, wish I could spend a couple of hours there.

After all my work and preparations, only two of the ladies I invied for this morning came, and the others didn't bother to call or anything.  But the three of us had a really fun time, anyway. 8)

Hello to Sue, Ruth, Al, Etta Sue, Kevin and all the rest of you!  Talk more tomorrow!  I will, if you will!  ;)

Hi, friends,

I agree - this is a wonderful website. Pat, loved that little photo - they're so sweet and helpless and trusting when they're tiny like that. You did an excellent job.

I have a very long day planned for tomorrow. My daughter's picking me up so that I can take her to the airport at 6 am tomorrow morning. So I'll have plenty of quiet time in the office to think and pray and meditate, and then to get to work before the rest of the "gang" arrives.

There are some lovely places here in Nashville, too. Heritage Village comes to mind - you know, that's the Christian Broadcasting Network home. They decorate it beautifully - play beautiful christmas carols and you wander about the grounds and into the mansion and then back to the gift shop. Also, Opryland Hotel and Resort is spectacular. Over 2 million lights over there this year, they say.

Well, must go - y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann

Nita

Hi.  I'm just bopping in before I head to bed.  Today has been almost non stop.  One of those unplanned days that gathers momentum as it goes. :)
I've had company all day, and tonight my daughter and grandaughter are staying here.  Just a "sleep over". :)

Jane, sorry I didn't get to the phone today.  You know me anyway, so I know you weren't waiting by the phone.

I tried to take pictures of my lights on my fence but none turned out right.
To me it's scads of lights, never having outside lights, but when I take the picture, the truth comes out.  It's just lights along the top of the fence, over the garage door, and a lit Santa on the garage door.  haha

I'm tired tonight, so am headed to lay my head down.  I just had to come hear the news.

Marilyn!! That's such good news.  I know you weren't worried, but I gotta tell you I was concerned.  (Oh, me of little faith, huh?)

g'night all.  Tomorrow is a brand new day.  I'm ready.  Nita

May all you easterners experience great shame - coming in here AFTER us westerners!

The meeting with our pastor went well - better than expected even.  Thanks to our Lord.  Please pray for him, as he's semi-disabled from a fall several years ago.  His spinal column is actually twisted.  The pain keeps him from full concentration when preparing messages, etc.

Al ~ I am ashamed but I have to have my coffee before exploring the internet!!

Marilyn ~ Good news!  I, too, know that you weren't fretting over the diagnosis but better to check and know from someone with the knowledge to know what it is!  Praying that it goes away on its own.

Jane ~ I remember Shore Acres.  I have been there a couple of times many, many years ago!  Am I right that they have a rose garden also?  Makes me think of Alice in Wonderland when I 'see' Shore Acres in my mind's eye.

JudyB ~ I have had a Sweet Potato Casserole that has a crispy top on it like Apple Crisp but I don't have the recipe.  Hope someone finds one for you and you can publish it in 'The Recipe' section here.

Everyone's Christmas decorations sounds fantastic.  Wouldn't it be great for all of us to take a road trip and see each others decorations first hand.  Pat, is the bus ready?

Ivalou came out of the surgery just fine.  We were home before 3pm and she didn't wake up until 9:30pm.  She doesn't even remember leaving the waiting room.   ???  They gave her two pills to melt under her tongue and that was it for her for 8 hours.  She ate some jello and drank some water and went right back to sleep.  I shut off all the lights at 11 and tried to sleep on the couch.  Different heat, could hear the electric heat come on, too light, too hot, too cold...just didn't sleep well at all.  But then I did have a nap in the afternoon so probably wasn't that sleepy at night.  I remember Ivalou taking her pills and going to her bedroom in the night.  We both woke up at daylight this morning.  She was still talking thick tongued but was fine.  I went out and got the paper for her and come home to my kitties.  They were hungry...the bowl was empty!!

Bright and sunny in Central Indiana today!  But that sunshine is deceiving...36°F!!

Janet

Etta Sue, thanks for the coffee (I needed that) and for the message that Jesus loves me today!  So glad Iva Lou is doing so well.  You girls are so blessed to have each other really close.

I had a heavy workout today, and after missing a couple of days, it felt like it!  But I am determined to keep at it.  I know I am much stronger than a lot of people years younger than me.  We need to take care of ourselves!

Al, it must be so hard on your pastor being in constant pain.  I know your congregation upholds him in prayer constantly.  God is still the healer, of our bodies, minds, emotions and spirits.

Nita, the lights just do not show up in pictures like we want them to do, but I know your lit-up place is very pretty.  Don't work so hard today, just catch up on your rest a bit!  ;)

Ruth Ann, it's always so good to hear from you.  It sounds as if things are getting better and better for you and your "kids."  Our kids will still be our kids forever, won't they?  Two of my siblings are now past 70 years old, and mom still refers to them as kids.  :)  (Fits ME, as I am next to the "baby" of the family.)

We have a red hats luncheon today, so I think I better go and get ready!  See you fine folks later.

Good Afternoon all,

Sorry I haven't been posting, been reading though. God is so great and good and the Master Healer. I have been praying for you all and He has answered.

Been trying to figure out how to change the web address for the church and it is a convoluted mess. The bottom line, we can't change the address unless we want to purchase a new domain name. Not with them, my pastor gave me the go ahead to do what I originally wanted to do, start from scratch again.

Also been busy with my folks and Michaell and other little stuff.

I'm glad and thankful to be associated with such a great group of people, guess that means I'm a little off my rocker too.   O well, great minds think alike no matter where they are in the world.

I pray everyone has a God-filled and blessed day!

Blessings,

Good late morning. I have been to Curves for my workout and to Tai Chi, then to the grocery store to but some food for me. I might as well eat as good as the dogs do. :D

When I got home  I laid out  the stuff for the quilt, the backing the blanket I am using to fill it and the top,  I got it all pinned together and trimmed, this one I am going to tie. I will photograph it when it is finished. I am not making anymore quilts for me or  friends until a make some for my family.

Janet  our Red hat group stopped meeting last year i only got to go to two meetings, I haven't gotten around to looking up another group. I need to do that. Wouldn't it be neat if you Etta Sue and I could have our own group. With all the ladies of CP. What a fun group that would be.  <3

My Friend that I am making the quilt for, well she and her husband made me this great Tea Box  I will have to take a photo and show y-all. I thought it was Redwood but as I look at it if it is they must have stained it. because on the outside is doesn't look like Redwood.

Well gotta get busy on the quilt.

Just got off the telephone with Norm McKenna...

Not good news I'm afraid.

Judy was taken down to Hamilton yesterday to see the surgeon who did the surgery on Sept. 17 and he has decided that it must be done again.

So she's in the Guelph Hospital unable to get around at all.  She can get put into a chair and then back to her bed.  She's having red spots and sores starting so please pray that this surgery will be fast.  They think that it will take place within the next week or two.

It Came Upon a Midnight Clear
(Click to hear music)

There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
keeping watch over their flocks at night.
An angel of the Lord appeared to them,
and the glory of the Lord shone around them,
and they were terrified.
Luke 2:8-9

Words: Edmund H. Sears
Music: Richard S. Willis, 1850

It came upon the midnight clear,
That glorious song of old,
From angels bending near the earth,
To touch their harps of gold;
Peace on the earth, good will to men,
From Heaven's all gracious King.
The world in solemn stillness lay,
To hear the angels sing.

Still through the cloven skies they come
With peaceful wings unfurled,
And still their heavenly music floats
O'er all the weary world;
Above its sad and lowly plains,
They bend on hovering wing,
And ever over its Babel sounds
The blessed angels sing.

Yet with the woes of sin and strife
The world has suffered long;
Beneath the angel strain have rolled
Two thousand years of wrong;
And man, at war with man, hears not
The love-song which they bring;
O hush the noise, ye men of strife
And hear the angels sing.

And ye, beneath life's crushing load,
Whose forms are bending low,
Who toil along the climbing way
With painful steps and slow,
Look now! for glad and golden hours
Come swiftly on the wing.
O rest beside the weary road,
And hear the angels sing!

For lo! the days are hastening on,
By prophet-bards foretold,
When with the ever circling years
Comes round the age of gold;
When peace shall over all the earth
Its ancient splendors fling,
And the whole world send back the song
Which now the angels sing.

Well, practice went much more smoothly tonight, so I think it will all come together nicely by Sunday night.  Our church has increased in attendance over the past three years by about four-fold, and tonight we had an informational meeting about purchasing some land to build a new, larger church.  We still have enough space in the sanctuary, but when we have a fellowship dinner, we are packed like sardines, even in the Sunday School rooms.  There were no negative comments at all tonight, everyone seemed in unity about the land purchase, so I pray it will be that way next week when we vote on it.  God is moving in Ulysses, Kansas!!

Ruth Ann, I am leaving you a message.

Hello everyone.  Al, I always come in late.  Later than the Easterners even, and you know how late they are compared to us Westerners. :)

My grandaughter, stayed last night, has ended up having the flu.  She lives with her dad, and he is out of town working on a job, so she is staying here.  Her mom, my daughter, is here with her too.  Angel won't go to her mom's because she doesn't like her step dad.  Oh, me.  I'm just glad gramma's house is here and near. Kim went home today, and was there to cook Paul's dinner tonight.  Then came back over tonight.  Angel is feeling somewhat better tonight I think.  She's had it bad..last night and today.  Also glad that I got the flu shot too.

Pat, so sorry to hear about Judy.  Yes, be sure and tell her we are all thinking of her and praying for her.

Janet, I'm glad that your Christmas program is coming together.  I'd love to be there and attend, but you'll just have to tell us all about it.

Well, it's official, with Jeannine reporting in. We are ALL off our rockers. haha  If we aren't on our rockers, I wonder where we are?  And however did being "off your rocker" get equated with a bit of madness?  That'd be interesting to research.  I think we're all just a tad strange...unique..:)

I am blessed that we are all so different, and we are all accepted just as we are...differences and samenesses.  We make a lovely bouquet for God.  Don't you think so?

I am tired again tonight, with a headache, so I need to get some alone time and get that taken care of.  That's just what I'll do.   love 2 u.  Nita

Hi everyone.  I had such a busy day yesterday that I didn't have time to come to CP.  I had turned off my computer on Tuesday night (I usually leave it running over night) and when I turned it on I had black screens.  I turned it off a couple of times and finally it started a diskcheck and found some files that it apparently deleted.  I was gone all morning but when I got home around noon it finally booted normally.  I was concerned that I had crashed the hard disk but now think it is OK.  I hesitate to turn it off but, of course, will have to do so periodically.

We went back to the church early last evening, after having had Bible Study in the morning, and had dinner there.  One of our members may have had a heart attack right after the meal as they had to call 911 and take him to the hospital.  The family called the pastor about 9 pm and said the man was stabilized but they were going to have to do a lot of tests.  He has not been well for several years.

We had a two hour choir practice last night.  Janet, we still have two more major practices as we still have some rough spots to work out.  However, I think it is coming together.  We are singing with an orchestral accompaniment from a CD for the first time.  So it is taking some getting used to but is beautiful music so should be fine.  I sure know what you mean about not having all the members of the choir at practice.  This is quite common with our choir but it doesn't seem to bother then director and we have a cadre that are almost always there.

Marilyn, I was delighted to read your good news on your visit to the doctor.  My cousins wife had radical breast surgery last Wednesday and they had found a trace of cancer in the lymph nodes.  However, they removed a pad of lymph nodes and there was no sign of cancer so she is not going to have to have radiation.  We are praising God for his goodness.

Nita, sorry to hear your granddaughter is sick.  I sure hope you don't get the flu.

Certainly saddened to read of the situation for Judy Mc.  I certainly hope she doesn't have pressure sores develop as those are very painful.  My father had a stage 4 pressure sore that was just terrible and gave him a lot of pain.

Jeannine, I fear that someone gave you bad advice in terms of not being able to move your church website domain name to another ISP.  That is done all the time.  My friend did it this last year with a website he maintains.  However, it sounds like you might be well served to start over with the website as then you will be completely familiar with  its structure and maintenance.

Ruth Ann, nice of you to take your daughter to the airport.  At the Atlanta airport the parking is now at least $9 per day and more in the close up lots.

Etta Sue, glad you are available to help your sister.  You mentioned the sweet potato casserole.  We had some really delicious casserole at the Blue Willow Inn on Tuesday and it had lost of nuts in the topping.  It was almost like desert.

Al, glad you had a good session with your pastor.  The pastor of our church when we joined had terrible back problems and in taking the pain medicine for the pain he became addicted to the drugs.  He had moved to another church but it cost him his pastorate and also his marriage.  It was certainly said as he was a wonderful pastor and teacher.  I know he has been in a rehab program.

Hi Pat and Colin and all who visit here today.

Marilyn

Good Morning, Good to see you Larry you were the first one this morning.

I have to go to work early today as Jan has an appointment with the foot Doctor at 8:30 AM.  I have had to be somewhere every night this weeks so far and am looking forward to tonight when I can be at home. Usually I am gone only on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.  With the weather getting colder I don't like to be out after dark. I want to be where I am nice and warm.

I think I told y-all that I got the quilt all pinned together, I have started tying it. I should have it done in a few days.

Janet it sounds like your growing church is the place to be. We have them come and go. Just this past week another  couple found a church closer to them and have changed over. We have lost  so many of the ones who were the when I came  to McKinleyville. But we have new  people too. I am one who will continue to stand behind my Pastors, I am not going anywhere. I live only  about a city block from the church, if we had city blocks here.

Time to start decorating the site for Christmas!

It's noon and I haven't done anything constructive since getting out of bed!!

Suddenly I am having pain around my waist.  I don't know what it is but I can't seem to move in a position to get rid of it.  So I am going to go lie down awhile.

Janet

Etta Sue, sorry about your pain and hope it goes away quickly.  I had been having pain in my right leg, thought I may have done something to it while exercising.  So Kristi stretched me really good, and it seems to have helped.  For a couple of days it really bothered me.

I have been swimming (3/4 mile today) and then to the doctor to discuss my cholesterol (down considerably, but he thinks it's still too high, even though my "good is really good!") so he wants me to take Zetia for three months.  Then to the Care home to see Mom and Beth, now here I am again!  And, isn't all this just fascinating??  ;)

Yes, Marilyn, our church is doing great, which means it is attracting the attention of the enemy, and it is time for all of us to guard our hearts, minds and TONGUES to preserve the unity of the body.  Hope your church can retain the new ones who come in, too.

Larry, we are using CDs of the music for our cantata, too.  Pastor's wife is directing it, and took out several songs so we could put the children in.  They are each giving a little short reading, then singing three songs.  Also Pastor will give a short mini sermon and an altar call, so we couldn't use all the songs or the program would be too long.  I was sorry, though that some of the ones we aren't singing were my favorites.  Can't please everyone, right?

Nita, sorry Angel got the nasty old flu.  Yucky stuff.  I'm glad you had your flu shot and pray it protects you---along with prayer!!

I'm so sorry about poor Judy McKenna.  That poor little thing has certainly suffered a lot, and it's still ongoing.  I will continue to pray for her, and for Norm as well.  Pat, please keep us posted on her condition.

Time to go do something constructive!  I have more wrapping to do, then who knows what else I will find.

Our little town is having a Christmas Light Parade tonight, and our church has a float in it.  Should be a fun evening.

I a sobered today.  A friend is through the worst of his legal problems. Pray for the family.  God knows the details. :(

What a cold night we have had.  Frost on the windows and that is a rare thing at this tie of year.  I heard that we were to get another 15 cms of snow last night, but thankfully it didn't materialize.

I found the recipe that I was looking for.....printed it out....and lost it.  :bonk:  When I find it back I will post it, that way I will be able to find it if I loose it again!  :)

Today is Melaura's birthday.  She planned to sleep till noon, but was up and at it by 10:00.  I don'r think 16 looks any different than yesterday!  ;D

John will be home tonight.  He is no longer driving, he is now the Director of Personnel of a trucking ministry.  He is good at what he does, but I know I am prejudiced.  His philosophy in the job is "If you do your job, then I won't have to do my job.  If you don't do your job, I WILL do mine."  Keep him in prayer, this requires some travelling, in our vehicle, not a truck.

Well I have to put wood in the furnace, Etta Sue I would have loved to hear the baseboard heaters foing on and off last night!  We get cold and have to again fill the furnace.  One thing about it the wood is free. :) so we don't have that expence.

Pat any word on JudyMc?  Also David's stuff arrived today.  I will get yours down to you . :thumbsup2:

Bye for now
Love JudyB

Marilyn

Hi y-all. I got off work early today at 11.AM so I came home and changed into my workout clothing and took off for Curves. As I was preparing my dinner/lunch, my Skype rang and it was Jerry2 from SN calling from New Zealand. We had a nice conversation I spoke with him and his wife Ann.

Since I got back home the sky has become  all overcast, It was a beautiful day before that. I will have to dress warm to take the dogs for their walks.

Judy is John not going to drive trucks at all anymore. His job sounds interesting.

I'd better go walk the dogs before it starts to rain.

Hello Everyone,

Tonight and tomorrow night, I will be preaching to many young couples who will attend one of two Christmas services at the chapel where I perform weddings.  Here in Japan, Christmas is quite an event, but for the most part the Japanese have no clue about the meaning of Christmas.  If it weren't for Christmas (the holiday) and our wedding chapel, it is likely that most of these young people would never step foot inside a church, nor ever make the acquaintance of a Christian.

I will tell them tonight and tomorrow night about God's love and His Son Jesus Christ.  Your prayers are appreciated. <3

Hi, friends,

I drove about 2 hours each way to see friends whose son had to have life support removed. They are at peace about the situation and it's a wonderful thing that he must have had some premonition that his death was near, for he wrote them a card and mailed it, and in that card he testified to them and also begged forgiveness for his past trespasses against him. They received the card in the mail after he was life flighted to the hospital and following extensive brain surgery he became completely nonresponsive, so eventually the life support was removed. I pray for his quick passing for both his and the family and friends' sake.

It's so chilly here in my office, that I must get offline and go cover up head and ears. Brrrr!

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Janet

Kevin, I am praying that many of the young couples accept God's wonderful gift of forgiveness and salvation.  What a great start to married life that will be for them.  Bless you for being a willing vessel of God's love to them.

Ruth Ann, it is cold in your office---at home?  Or at work?  Brrrr!  So sad about the young man, but good that he mended fences while he was able to do so.  Was he in an accident?

The light parade was pretty nice, but boy, was it ever cold!  Our weather had been nice until today, now they sway it will warm up again tomorrow.  I took some pictures, will see if I can remember how to post them.

Hi from a very chilly island.  Still lots of snow and ice in the yard and on our street.  Not what one expects in sunny BC.  Not certain what we can expect....read in today's paper that Global warming means Victoria will be under water if things remain unchecked :o  Alas, I can't swim!!

I have been enjoying some of the treats brought back from Maui.....coffee, candy, etc.  yumm!  Went to Victoria today and battled the crowds in the mall.
Will wait for Boxing Day sales (day after Christmas) to purchase anything much as that is when the prices go d-o-w-n.  Like your day after Thanksgiving in US.  Wendy & Ralph were sure amazed at the sales and how folks waited for hours to get into the stores....They had never been in the States for Thanksgiving and not used to folks wishing one another 'Happy Thanksgiving'.  Interesting how different some things are...

Misty won't go outside in the snow.  She absolutely refuses to stay outdoors in the cold.  So sleeps all day and plays all night and drives me round the bend.  Got hold of my Christmas ornaments last night...I finally put up my little tree, etc.  Hope that Squeek doesn't come down and join in the fun!

Bought a new mouse for my computer and it surely makes life better.  Also got all the problems out of the system....took me much thinking and research to solve the problems.  Now know much more about the inner working than wanted to learn.

Time to go.  Love reading all the posts and listening to the music.  I must go and watch Anne Murray at 9 P.M. as there is a special with Glen Campbell as guest.

Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.

(where is Colin today?)

karmat

Hello all!  I'm karmat, remember me???  :)

Just wanted to pop in and let you know the Shuford's are plugging along.  The kids have been sick, but seem to be on the upswing from it.  Hopefully, everyone will be healthy for Christmas.

Travis is so excited he can't hardly wait.  Every day we have to talk about how many more days it is, etc.  I probably should find our advent calendar so he can "count it down."

Kristi is growing like a little weed, and is learning one or two new words every day.  She also gets extremely frustrated when we don't understand her.

Sorry, I'm not in here much.  I think of you all often, and pray for you.  May God strengthen, bless, and keep you during this holy season!!!

THE WINGS OF A PRAYER

I will send to God on the wings of a prayer
The flight of faith will carry it there
To a loving Father willing to hear
Who listens to His child with an ever open ear

They will bring to my Father thanks for His giving
His blessings for the day and breath for my living
His strength for my weakness to make me more strong
And His arms when I am weary to carry me along

The wings of prayer will take to Him my pleading
For lifting of burdens and healing I am needing
And asking for guidance and seeking His will
While I wait for His answer humbled and still

The wings of prayer may get ruffled in their going
Tossed about in wild winds of a storm that is blowing
Strong in their flight,; they rise above the tempest blown
And rest at the feet of the King on His throne

Strong wings of prayer upwards they fly
Rising from earth to Heaven on high
The longings of my heart is the sound of their beating
Then folded and still when they come to Gods seating

Sweet joy I may have and lots of life's sorrow
And times of happiness and sadness I exchange and I borrow
For help for my burdens or for thanks for His care
I will tell and ask of God on the wings of a prayer

We are back from a week in Sedona, Arizona in a drive yesterday of almost 900 miles within 15 hours.  Never again. Don feels very weak - I drove & he did sleep for almost three hours on the trip & said all the time of how good he felt & he wanted to go straight through - well, after an hour here at home he was so exhausted.  Now, he is sleeping - he needed an extra blanket last night & didn't wake me - I have many extra blankets in the guest rooms & cannot figure out why he didn't go downstairs to find one.  I feel terrible that I slept while he felt so cold.

We had such a nice visit & in a beautiful place with massive red rocks.  The entire area does have churches but there is such a spin on the mystic things associated with the rocks, very sad that peple believe such junk.

Etta Sue:  Sorry about the mistake on the Amish Bread recipe.  We had to leave here 1/2 day early & it was a hustle so I didn't get back to you.

Praying for Judy Mc.  Not fair.

Judy B:  I missed something in the Amish Bread recipe.  What does John do in his new job?  Is he now home much more?  Stay warm & cozy.

Marilyn:  Fantastic news on your mysterious lump.

We actually found a radio station with Christmas songs in AZ but sad to say not here.  We listened to a book on tape - "A Walk to Remember" by Nicholas Sparks.  A sad story but about miracles after all.

Carol

Al Moak

Karmat!  So good to see your face in here!  How's that "other" Shuford?  Does he still live?

Janet

Carol, it's great to have you back!  And I hope Don gets rested up soon.  Sometimes when I feel cold, I don't want to get up to get another blanket because by getting up I would get even colder.  I know, doesn't make sense, but......
It is a shame what some folks believe today.  So sad that if they do not come into the truth, they will be left behind, and not enjoy heaven for eternity.

KARMA!!  Good to see you, girl!  We miss you around here.  Give that big Shuford and both those small ones a hug from me, will you?  And do stop in when you can, we love hearing from you.

I got stamps this morning, so my cards are out in the mailbox---at least those I had ready.

There is an interesting program on TBN right now, like a documentary of the events of the birth of Christ, from today's perspective.  Like they said there is a 3 man diplomatic delegation coming to see what is happening, and something about the planets lining up and making such a powerful light, appearing as a star.  When they talked about the 3 wise men, they showed cars whizzing along the highway near the dead sea.  Hmmm......        I'm always amazed at the masses of people all over the Middle East.

Colin, have you ever seen a doctor about your depression?  A lot of people have a chemical imbalance, and can be greatly helped by prescriptions.  I just hate to think of you being depressed, and hope you will find help for it.  No one should have to live under that black cloud.  I was very depressed at one time, but it didn't last very long, for which I'm so thankful.

Hey, Liz!  Keep your rowboat handy!  ;)  Personally, I do not believe all the hype about global warming.  But I do know we have cycles of wet and dry years, and just now you seem to be getting the wet, while we are stuck in the dry.  Things should reverse soon!  Glad Wendy and Ralph are home from their nice warm holiday.

The pain I had yesterday only lasted maybe 10 minutes.  But today my back feels better than it has for several months.  Could the pain be from mending myself?

I forgot to mention about Judy Mc...right, it just isn't fair.  She has suffered enough.

Karma!!!!  Glad to see you back for a spell.  Good the hear the little ones are on the mend.  Give all three 'kids' hugs from me.

Janet ~ I am not believing all the hype about global warning either.  I believe it about as much as I did about all the problems we were to have for New Year's 2000.  Nothing happened!!!  Did you see Oprah one day this week?  Our past vice-president was talking about global warning.

I helped Ivalou make a bead and safety pin angel ornament.  Her Secret Sister says she likes hand-made ornaments.  Ivalou isn't a hand-maker anything except sewing.   :-\

It's cold.  Last night was to be the coldest night so far this season.  I was chilled watching TV so went to bed early and rose last this morning.  The bed felt so warm and good!

Marilyn

Well I finally made it in to post something, I have been here to read  earlier a couple of time. I went for my workout at Curves then straight on to Tai Chi, when I got back home I folded the sheets I washed earlier and cleaned the bathroom and Kitchen. Still have to do the living room and my bedroom.

Carol Glad to see you back I am not believe a lot of things lately, Global Warming to start with.

Hey Karma
good to see you again girl. Tell Nards to drop by sometime too.

Back to my  quilt and cleaning.

Later.

Hi everyone.  We had a very enjoyable day today.  After coffee with the men at the senior center, I went to our SeniorNet Volunteer meeting with my friend Rod.  Then at noon, the director of the center had a lovely catered luncheon for the volunteers and their spouses with turkey, ham, dressing, salad, rolls, and apple cake with a caramel sauce.  It all was really good.  She had also provided an entertainer who played music and sang some songs and played the guitar.  Pat joined me at lunch time.  I came home and took a nap.

in about 90 minutes I will head down to Atlanta to pick up our daughter as she is spending the weekend with us.  We have a busy weekend planned as there is always a lot to do when she is here.  She will attend the Sunday School Christmas party with us tomorrow night and Sunday School and church with us Sunday.  It is so nice to have her attend with us.  I consider this another of God's many blessings to us this year.

Carol, glad you are home but hope you don't do that long of drive again.  We decided sometime ago that 8 and possibly 10 hours in the car was enough for one day and then rest is required.  Several of you spoke of being cold during the night.  A few years ago I discovered the electric blanket and I can't imagine being without it as I am always cold and it keeps me nice and warm all night long.

Karmat, glad you stopped by and I assure you were haven't forgotten you and your family.  Know this is an exciting time for the little ones.

There were a number of postings while I have been writing but this is way to long for today.

Someone sent the following to us yesterday and I wanted to share it with you all.  It will bring a smile or chuckle to you I think and is appropriate for this time of year.

Gold, common sense and fur

My husband and I had been happily married (most of the time) for
five years, but hadn't been blessed with a baby. I decided to do
some serious praying and promised God that if He would give us a
child, I would be a perfect mother, love it with all my heart and
raise it with His word as my guide.

God answered my prayers and blessed us with a son.

The next year God blessed us with another son. The following year,
He blessed us with yet another son. The year after that we were
blessed with a daughter. My husband thought we'd been blessed right
into poverty. We now had four children, and the oldest was only four
years old.

I learned never to ask God for anything unless I meant it. As a min-
ister once told me, "If you pray for rain, make sure you carry an
umbrella."

I began reading a few verses of the Bible to the children each day as
they lay in their cribs. I was off to a good start. God had entrusted
me with four children and I didn't want to disappoint Him.

I tried to be patient the day the children smashed two dozen eggs on
the kitchen floor searching for baby chicks. I tried to be under-
standing when they started a hotel for homeless frogs in the spare
bedroom, although it took me nearly two hours to catch all twenty-
three frogs.

When my daughter poured ketchup all over herself and rolled up in a
blanket to see how it felt to be a hot dog, I tried to see the humor
rather than the mess.

In spite of changing over twenty-five thousand diapers, never eating
a hot meal and never sleeping for more than thirty minutes at a time,
I still thank God daily for my children.

While I couldn't keep my promise to be a perfect mother. I didn't
even come close. I did keep my promise to raise them in the Word of
God. I knew I was missing the mark just a little when I told my
daughter we were going to church to worship God, and she wanted to
bring a bar of soap along to "wash up" Jesus, too.

Something was lost in the translation when I explained that God gave
us everlasting life, and my son thought it was generous of God to
give us his "last wife."

My proudest moment came during the children's Christmas pageant. My
daughter was playing Mary, two of my sons were shepherds and my
youngest son was a wise man. This was their moment to shine. My five-
year-old shepherd had practiced his line, "We found the babe wrapped
in swaddling clothes." But he was nervous and said, "The baby was
wrapped in wrinkled clothes."

My four-year-old "Mary" said, "That's not 'wrinkled clothes,' silly.
That's dirty, rotten clothes." A wrestling match broke out between
Mary and the shepherd and was stopped by an angel, who bent her halo
and lost her left wing.

I slouched a little lower in my seat when Mary dropped the doll rep-
resenting Baby Jesus, and it bounced down the aisle crying, "Mama,
Mama." Mary grabbed the doll, wrapped it back up and held it tightly
as the wise men arrived.

My other son stepped forward wearing a bathrobe and a paper crown,
knelt at the manger and announced, "We are the three wise men, and
we are bringing gifts of gold, common sense and fur."

The congregation dissolved into laughter, and the pageant got a
standing ovation.

"I've never enjoyed a Christmas program as much as this one," Pastor
Brian laughed, wiping tears from his eyes. "For the rest of my life,
I'll never hear the Christmas story without thinking of gold, common
sense and fur."

"My children are my pride and my joy and my greatest blessing," I
said as I dug through my purse for an aspirin.

Nita

Larry, that is the sweetest, funniest story! :)  Just what this day needed.  I laughed out loud.

I'm sitting here eating dark chocolate and reading the posts.  I don't want to eat the chocolate, but I've read it's really good for me, so I have to. :)  This is Cadbury's.  I wonder if Dove has dark chocolate? :)  The things I do for health!

Colin,  I understand.  Remember we're here.  Your poetry speaks for you, even when you're feeling quiet of conversation.  ((a sister hug for you)).

laters,  Nita

Thanks Larry for sharing that story with us...it has made me laugh and really cheered me up. It is cold here too and I do not know when it last stopped raining!
God bless all.

Rose of Sharon
(Click to hear music)

Words and music by Alfred B. Smith and John Peterson

"I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys."
Solomon 2:1

There's a Beautiful Rose ever blooming,
In the Garden of God's Love for me;
It has filled all the world with it's fragrance,
It will last for eternity.

Chorus
Rose of Sharon now blooming I see,
Blessed Jesus, who died on the tree;
With my whole heart I sing "Hallelujah!"
Rose of Sharon, so precious to me.

Precious Savior, I'll always adore Thee,
For with Thee no one else can compare;
By Thy Love so divine, I'm enraptured,
Thou are fairer than all of the fair.

Chorus
Rose of Sharon now blooming I see,
Blessed Jesus, who died on the tree;
With my whole heart I sing "Hallelujah!"
Rose of Sharon, so precious to me.

Are you lost in your sins ~ tired of living?
Is your heart filled with bitterness, too?
Come to Jesus, the sweet Rose of Sharon,
He has the power to make you anew.

Chorus
Rose of Sharon now blooming I see,
Blessed Jesus, who died on the tree;
With my whole heart I sing "Hallelujah!"
Rose of Sharon, so precious to me

Well, the story of my son's friend was finished today. And, it finished in such a touching manner. (Janet, he must have had an epileptic seizure and fallen down a long flight of steps - that's what caused his fatal injury.)

My son had been at the hospital day and night for several days. Being a registered nurse, he realized the end was very near this morning and let the family know they should all get to the hospital.

Not long after they all arrived, my son felt impressed to begin singing "Amazing Grace." All of them being both christians and musically talented, they joined in.

For 8 days this young man had lain in bed - no movement, no facial expression changes, no life support, no brain waves, no response to stimuli. Well, as they were nearing the end of the last verse of the song, he slightly lifted his head, smiled "the sweetest smile" my son said, and breathed his last. At the moment he was exhaling for the last time, a ray of sunlight broke through the clouds and illuminated his face.

What a way to go.

Wonderful!  First a chuckle out loud from Larry, then a quiet tear of happiness for the young man's family in Ruth Ann's story.  Where else could we all share these things??

I've had another busy day, and tomorrow is my painting Christmas party in Dodge City, so will be another busy one.

I hope you all stay cozy, dry and happy all weekend!

I came back to tell Nita --- you don't need to suffer alone, I will have some dark chocolate with you.  I'm health conscious, too!  :)

Did someone say Dark Chocolate? A friend gave me a bar the other day it was decadent I enjoyed it very much.  <3 I too am Health Conscious.

Good Night all.

Hi everyone....have been reading all your posts and praying for you all. Guess I have been a little depressed and dont feel like talking much. Take care all of you.
God bless.
Colin, I totally understand and I have a place for you right here beside me in the corner...C'mon over and we will "observe" together... Christian love, my brother...  <3
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Colin

Hi guys....Cold morning here in N. Ireland and more RAIN is forecast. My two sons bought themselves the new Nintendo Wii with a sports disc which has tennis, golf, baseball, ten pin bowling and boxing on it. You play the games with a wand which works by infra red. If you are playing tennis say...you stand faceing TV and wave the wand about as if you had a racket in your hand to hit the ball. It is absolutely brilliant and great fun. Any one looking in our window going by would think we had gone mad standing waving our hands around us like lunatics. It is hilarious!

I had another phone call this morning from a lady looking for my poems. She had heard my name and phone number being given out on a radio programne. I give her my website address. Another lady awhile ago had got some of my poems and one of them ended up being read out at a funeral service for a friend of hers. The phone call this morning was so lovely to get and we had a pleasant chat. God is blessing me.

Pat...you are getting it cold! Wrap up warm my friend. Another lovely song you have posted.

Ruth Ann..I read with tears about the young man dying. One of my sister's had a son die in similiar circumstances. He was only into his teenage years I think. He was going to pick horse chestnuts and walked from behind a bus into the path of a car. He was brain dead and was on a life support machine. He was my sister Joy only child and what she was feeling when she had to make the decision to turn the machine off..I will never ever know. It was so tragic.

Nita and Jane...thanks for your understanding. I will be ok.

I think all chocolate should be brown...I cannot bring myself round to eat white chocolate! I hate the look of it. Daffodils should be yellow and chocolate should be brown and that is the way I feel about it!

Hello to everyone else and God bless to you all.

Ruth Ann ~ What a wonderful gift from God for the parents of that young man.  God gained a son in Heaven and the parents received a smile as he was home-going.

Nita ~ And I heard when they make dark chocolate they squeeze all the calories out!   ::)

Larry ~ What a hilarious story.  I can only imagine a mother with four young ones.  Probably a never ending comedy!

Colin ~ You sound more chipper today.  Keeping looking up!

Carol ~ My driving is about 8 hours and definitely a stop every 2 hours or so.  My eyes are what gets tired...they get dried out from the heater or the A/C.

Jane ~ I would love to spend time in your corner with you.  Neither of us would get a word in crossways!

Marilyn ~ How about coming to Indiana and doing some house cleaning for me?  I could use a hand!

Janet ~ You seem to be busy all the time and I can only imagine how busy you are in December when nearly everyone is busy!  Keep it up...keeps you young!

Pat ~ It is cold here but suppose to warm up today.  I am ready for some warmth.  Here I am, hardly every chilled and I have been chilled sitting in my own house this week.  Brrrr!  (I sent you a PM...did you get it?)

Today is my 60 Chix luncheon.  We are going to Cabbage Rose...a tea room in Pendleton.  Hope it is decorated for Christmas...we wanted a Christmasy place for lunch today.  I think there will be around 9 of us.  Nice number for visiting.

Adding all the comments here together will give us the answer to the problems of raising children.  You have to be "health-conscious" to do it.  You eat 8 ounces of dark chocolate first thing in the morning, and then a booster 2 ounces at noon.  I think my wife (motheer of 6) will agree.

By the way - Larry - that story should also be useful in boosting the spirits of child raisers.  I don't think it will actually boost their energy levels, though.

Carol

Larry:  We talked about these long trips before & did decide to stay at motels - it is always, we have to get over the pass before it snows or something like that so it was a mistake.  Live and learn learn learn.  Reading the funny letter from the mother of four - we had 4 children in six years.  I regret that at the early times the feelings were too often of being overwhelmed with work and the teenage years were not always the cup of joy but overall, it was a blessing not anticpated and still is now.  I always thought they were brilliant children because they could dream up ideas no one else on earth had ever thought - believe me.  One of the wildest ideas was - I came through the door after work - early - and there was a full sized snowmobile in the living room.  The excuse:  Mom - we won't get oil on the carpet, it is too cold to work on it outside.  How they got it into the house?  I don't even want to know.   ::)  They could make my heart stop at times.

Ruth Ann:  What a beautiful ending to life - it must have lifted the spirits of everyone in the room.  A cyber hug to your compassionate son.

Colin:  Hello to you being quiet in the corner! Do you drink coffee or tea?  I have tea in the afternoon.

Al:  You have six children?  Bless your heart!  And, they were PK's - pastor's kids.  We go to the railing in our church for communion & once I caught the boys playing with their matchbox cars while we were supposed to be waiting for their blessing - the young pastor just smiled & blessed them & the congregation laughed - boy, did they get a talking to that day.

The holidays always put me in a reminiscense mood.

Good Morning I have a bit of time here before I go to Curves for my Saturday workout. I got in an extra day this week and Praise the Lord I am just  ½ lb from where I started so I lost the 5 lbs that I had gained in the first month. It sure pays to exercise and to eat right.

God is so Good all the time. I was sitting here fretting over my bills since I have not worked for Ruth for two months while she recovers. But another Praise the Lord here as He  worked it out for me and  I will have some left over. I just laid it all out before the Lord in my prayer time and He gave me the answers as I went online and checked my savings account. God is so good.

I Have to get back to tying my quilt today I had to take out several rows  because I had it going from both ends and got a big wrinkle in the middle. I won't do that again. I was trying to keep it off the floor as I tied it. Oops I think I may have just repeated myself.

Time for me to go now.

Thanks Larry, Pastor Kevin and I figured that out and I got a site up and running. Everything works and it's a "piece of cake" to take care of, now maybe I can do more with it.

I loved the story about the kids and had a great laugh at what children will do. It was great.

I was saddened to hear the news about the young man.

I continue to pray for everyone, even if I don't post often, at least this week. I have been trying to figure out why XP is missing a file and not booting on the church computer. I have run the recovery console a couple of times and still get the same error. My husband has a friend who suggested Norton Utilities and is looking for his copy for me to try. Unfortunately I think the drive is shot. I ran a chkdsk and it said it found some bad sectors so that may be the problem. I will try a repair install and if that don't work then we do need a new drive.

Colin, I'm glad things are starting to look up for you. Just you keep looking up too!

Well, it's cold here with 1/2 inch of snow. Not much for us. We have had some awesome sunsets lately, I'll see about posting a couple.

Everyone have a blessed and God-filled day!

Blessings,

Hi everyone...I think I was a little down because it was really begining to hit me about what could have happened to Marlene. It was not good for me to dwell on these things. Her sister has not come to see her or have any of my brothers or sisters came either. I think Marlene and I always feel we get hurt and we both do the best we can for people. Marlene is the most unselfish person I know.
I think it was you Carol asked me if I took tea or coffee...I take tea, thank you.
Thanks to everone who has wished me well.
I saw Karmat here and I know she likes a certain song. Well..I have saw that song so beautifully done in Lois Jernigans website...The Journey Home. It is fantastic. I am  sure it is the song you like Karmat and I thought I would let you know about it.

The sun has finally come out and I have thought about going to the beach to take some pictures. However I am not going to go. I want to work on my quilt and walk the dogs this afternoon. I'll have some tea with y-all in a bit.  i prefer tea in the afternoon and cofee in the morning.

Glad you are snapping out of it Colin, I surely do not know what you wrote in the shout box.  ???

HEAVEN

Heaven's gates are opening
Slowly swinging wide
A gentle voice is calling
It's time to come inside

The journey home is ended
Weary was your way
I guided your every footstep
And give you strength each day

I counted your every breath
Each beating of your heart
When you simply trusted me
And for Home you made a start

The angels now are welcoming
The streets of gold in view
And in my Father's house
A mansion waits for you

No more for you the heartaches
The doubts and the fears
I will gently reach my hand
And brush away your tears

There is no more darkness
Neither day nor night
Death will never touch you
And I will dress you in robes of white

Hear how I eagerly greet you
Welcome home my child
The lost lamb I searched for
And gathered from the mountain wild

I died for you in agony
On cross I took your place
I rose for you in triumph
And saved you by my grace

Gaze upon my princely head
Once crowned with thorn for you
See my nail scarred hands
As I reach to you my two

For I am welcoming you to Heaven
This place of perfect peace
Where joy and happiness is everlasting
In an Eternity that will never cease

Too wise you are
Too wise you be,
I see you are
too wise for me!

Okay, Colin, where's my chocolate????  ;D

I had a really good day today, visiting with painting friends, some of whom I had not seen in years.  Our hostess used to have a store where she taught many painting classes, also traveled all over the US teaching.  She was the inventer of "Quick landscapes with a 49c brush" and had many books of instruction published.  She gave each of us two of her books as we were leaving. She is still such a live wire! Her lovely daughter prepared a delicious lunch for us, and we had our Christmas gift exchange.  Fun day!

Tomorrow will be really full---church, rush home for a bite of lunch, go to the Home Tour, practice at 3:00, Cantata at 6, followed by a light supper.  Whew!  Diane, Jeff and Abby plan to come for the cantata, and I'm happy about that.

Thanks, Etta Sue---Yes, I don't think I even have time to grow old.

Colin, I hurried to "translate" your .....whatever......then went back to read your poem.  That is so eloquent.  I'd like that to be read at my homegoing service.  Thanks!

I will try to get a copy of your poem to Anthony's family, Colin. Thank you so much. You brought tears to my eyes.

I'm exhausted today.

First a Christmas brunch with the ladies who gather together to have lunch every Saturday, then grocery shopping, a trip to my daughter's apartment to take care of her cat while she's out of town, then 80 miles each way to pay respects to Anthony's family. While there, it was great to be with my granddaughters again and my daughter in law.

Now, I'm ready to rest and gather strength for tomorrow.

Y'all have a good evening.

This has been a stressful couple of days.  Sick dogs, carpet needing shampoo, noisy kids (I think that is normal?) and running all over the north country.  There are times with the gas prices so high, that I wish we could bus where we need to go.  The gas is 93.9 per L.  that works out to 3.785 times 93.9 that equals about 3.56 US gal.  What is it south of the border?

Colin I understand how you are feeling.  Am praying.

Marilyn it is an amazing ministry, we had reports of two truck drivers coming to know the Lord this week!  PTL  The chaplains get so excited when there are salvations.  It is so encouraging for each other.

Well I have to go.  Ruth Ann Jane,  Etta sue, Larry, Janet, Kevin, Al and the others I have missed have a peaceful sleep and a blessed Lords Day.
Love Judy

Colin

Good afternoon everyone...just had my dinner so I am full up. Listening to Carol singing on the radio...no..not Carol singing..CDs of carols being sung! Another wet miserable day outside. Silent Night is now being played..I just love that carol.

Hi JudyB...I like the way you call petrol gas and by the way you get it pretty cheap over there compared to what we pay for it a litre! Tremendous to hear the news of two truckers getting saved. it should excite every Christian when souls come to the Lord. Thank you for your prayers. God bless.

Hi Ruth Ann Bice... I am sure you must be exhausted. I hope you have had a good rest. That is really nice you want to send copy of my poem to Anthonys family. It is such a sad time for them. My heart goes out to them. God bless Ruth.

Hi Janet..you genius! I see you are too wise for me! Buy yourself a bar of chocolate and send me the bill!  ;) Thank you for the kind words you said about my poem. I hope it is many long years before your homegoing service! That is really lovely the way you put that...homegoing service...I really like that. It is nice to read of you being so busy. It keeps you young. God bless.

Hello to everyone else and God bless.

My cold has worsened so no church this weekend.

Judy B:  I read your answer to Marilyn about the truck ministry - it sounds like they had an exciting week for sure.  You mentioned noisy kids and I can tell you that when they all leave home the house is much too quiet.  Enjoy your Sunday.  Your gasoline in really high & I find that odd since ther is so much oil in Canada.

Marilyn:  When you get to the tie part of your quilts, why don't you get together with a few friends & get help - I wish I did on one tied quilt.  That is what we do at the church twice per month & those quilts do go for donation but I am sure the gals wouldn't mind a personal quilt.

Our daughter is coming for a visit with granddaughter today.  I hope they don't catch my cold.
Carol

P.S. Colin - you came in when I was posting.  Everyone will be happy that this Carol isn't singing on the radio - very croaky voice today.

Hi everyone.  We all slept in late this morning and now are having some breakfast before we head out to church and a pretty busy day.  I expect we will go out to eat lunch and then need to get some food for our daughter and take her back to her apartment.

We had a lovely Sunday School class Christmas party with most of the members in attendance.  We had all chipped in for the Honey Baked ham and then each family brought a side dish or two.  Pat made a corn disk that was very good and a fresh batch of caramel corn.  The tables were decorated in a cheerful manner and we all had a nice time.  Our daughter wasn't feeling very good and decided to pass on attending the dinner.

JudyB, while it varies day by day, the last I noticed gas was selling for $2.19 a gallon and that is up several cents in the last few days.  I am sure you and the family are happy to have John home most night and to know he isn't out driving many miles away.

Ruth Ann, your postings were most touching.  It sounds like you have a very loving, compassonate and caring son.  A sad time for the young man's family.

Janet, I will be looking forward to a report on your Christmas Cantata.  We still have two major practices before we sing ours next Sunday night.

The Christmas season in our church has been somewhat dampened by the death of a long term member.  I think I mentioned about the man getting sick at the Wednesday night dinner and having to call 911.  He had a sometype of heart attack that ruptured his aorta and he lasted only a few hours because there was nothing they could do about the problem.  There will be a memorial service for him next Saturday afternoon.

Colin, that was a beautiful poem.  It is sad that your wife's family hasn't shown more concern.  However, we can't control the actions of others and always fight a losing battle when we let what others don't do disturb us.

Marilyn, my wife explained to me that you should start in the center of your quilt and work outward for the very reasons you have encountered.  She uses safety pins in lieu of basting to hold her quilts together.  She has a little tool that helps close the pins.  It is really neat.

Jeannine, glad you were able to solve the webpage problems for your church and now you can focus on the changes and improvements you want to make.  It sounds like you may well have a hard disk problem.

Carol, I loved the story of your children at the alter and playing with their cars.  Don't you suppose that was a joy to our Lord as he loves the little children and the joy that they express.  Unfortunately sitting in the choir all I ever see is the back of the children's heads during the children's sermon but they often are very cute in the honesty of answers when asked questions.  Hope you both are getting recovered from your trip and that very long drive.

I loved the discussion of eating chocolate as a health food.  However, perhaps some of the rationale got a little carried away.  :)  It is nice to know that something so good is good for us.  Colin, I agree with you that it is hard to consider the white chocolate in the same vein as the light or dark chocolate.

Etta Sue, hope you ladies had a nice time at the tearoom and I can't imagine they wouldn't have decorated.  Speaking of that, I heard on the news this morning that the Seattle airport had taken down the Christmas Trees, which had been a custom for many years, because they had one complaint from a Jewish Rabbi that he was going to sue if they didn't put up a minora (probably don't have that spelled right) of equal size.  He said he didn't mind the trees but wanted equal treatment.  Unbelievable!!

Hi Jane, Pat and Kevin and anyone else I haven't written specific comments to today.  Hope everyone has a wonderful day.  I am looking forward to a great day that God is providing for me and will try to enjoy each moment of it.

Al Moak

Well it's quite rainy today - but then it is the season, after all.  We should thank God that He washes and waters His earth.
Gas prices (sorry - actually petrol) are $2.61 at the "discount" stations.  We get ours at a commercial fuel network station, and it's about $2.55 there.  I'm glad we don't have the Canadian prices.  But we sure don't go out driving and sightseeing much anymore.
Well, got to go get ready for church.

Colin

Hi Al..God sure gives my country a good watering! I suppose I should not complain! You should all be glad you are not paying British prices for your fuel..it is about one pound sterling for a litre. I cant work that into dollars but it gives you an idea how much we pay for petrol.  Take care Al.

Hi Larry...did you ever hear the phrase...happy as Larry...we say that all the time about people who have occasion to be joyful. I think you must be that "LARRY"! I am so glad you like the poem. I know what you mean by a loosing battle. I should have learned that lesson by now. Have a good day Larry.

Hi Ed...so nice to meet you. Thank you for your kind words about my poem and for your birthday wishes. I should point out that Marlene..my wife.. has her birthday on the 14th December! We are both the same age.
Ed..not everyone can express their feelings in writing and I do thank God He has given me that gift. I am sure you can express yourself in other ways. I would love to be able to sing but I cant. Take care Ed.

Good Morning, Well Al has already given you the weather report for our area so I will dispense with that.

Judy praise God for the two truckers getting saved.

Carol I hope you start feeling better and Don too.

Ed good to see you again what have you been up to?

Larry I know you are so pleased at the changes in Stacey.

Ruth Ann has  Mark gone back to work? It sounds like his back surgery really was an improvement for him physically as well as his disposition.

I saw a sign yesterday at the service station here for $2.75 per Gal. but I get mine at the same place as Al.

Hi friends.

Thank you for your kind comments about Mark and his love for others.

He is much improved, Marilyn, but the incision in his back is still draining from his back surgery several weeks ago. Yet, his love for Anthony was such that he came to be with the family during this stressful time.

Jim (I'll call him) has not always lived a Christian life, although he knew the right way to go. I have prayed with Mark and his ex-wife (who never remarried - she still loved him but problems prevented their living together) down through the years as he battled an addiction problem.

A close friend of Jim's told me last night that Jim shared with him about Thanksgiving time that he felt God was in the process of healing him. He also expressed plans to make amends to those he had caused so much heartache - his parents and his brother. He wrote them cards thanking them for "always being there for me" and testifying to God's grace and forgiveness. Those cards were mailed the very week he had that last seizure, and arrived after he became terminally ill.

As for Mark, God has been moving with him in a mighty way. He still must undergo physical therapy, but that can only start after his back has reached a certain level of healing. Then, later, the workers comp board will make the decision as to his level of disability.

We hope he can go back to work by the springtime. Seven years of constant pain have put unbelievable stresses on him and his wonderful wife and 2 sweet daughters - emotionally, physically, and financially. As a nurse, his preferred occupation is working in a hospital, but I believe he may need to seek another type position that will allow him to use his skills.

Must close, thanks for your love and your support, friends. How can a person go through life and its trials without Christian brothers and sisters and most especially without the comfort of the Holy Spirit, and a certain knoledge of saving grace and the love of our Father.

Ruth Ann

I read all the posts since I last posted, then Ivalou came over to visit.  Now I can't remember what I read so my responses have left my brain.  So...I won't comment on them.   :idiot:

Church was awesome.  I am so glad that it doesn't take understanding the book of Revelation to receive the gift of eternal life.  Thank you, God!  The sermons were on Revelation and its correlation to the birth of Christ.  I take the Bible literally, so I miss out on the symbolism.

Then I ate at a Steak House and brought over half of it home to eat this evening or tomorrow.  Then went to WalMart to buy a gift and get some groceries.  As soon as I got in the car, I remembered frozen peas.  I forgot frozen peas.  But I stopped at a smaller grocery and got the peas.  Then it is becoming a ritual to stop and get a cappuchino before coming home.  Now I have two loads of laundry done and folded and my salad made for tomorrow night at the Photo Guild.  We are having a pitch-in dinner and will watch two slide shows later.

Now I am going to Kitty's for us to open our gifts to each other and then I am going with Kitty to her church to see their Cantata!

Busy, busy, busy!

Oh, yeah!  Colin....I want that poem read at my funeral!  I have printed it off but now I don't know where to put it so those who are still alive knows where it is!!

While it may not seem like a good excuse, it is all I have to offer:  I have been busy driving dealer trades for the local Ford dealer (you want a red one and we have a blue one.  We find somene with a red one and trade for it)

Besides that I've been researching a camera on the Internet and that involves looking at lot of sites.  I've been looking for a two-pie carrier for the wife for Christmas and that involves a lot more pages.
