Hi everyone.  We are continuing to have problems with our Comcast Internet service.  Every afternoon and evening this week is has deteriorated or gone out totally.  Now this morning when I got home from coffee it was down again and then came up for just a little while but I was able to call them and they promise to get a technician to check on the problem as could see the quality of the signal has been bad off and on over the last few days.  Right now I am using the wireless network of a neighbor to get the internet signal.  We were assured by an expert at a user group meeting that there is nothing wrong or illegal about using the signal since it is freely broadcast.  They have not secured their system.  I appreciate being able to get on the Internet this morning.

I am not feeling very well the last two or three days and this morning it is continuing.  Hope it soon passes but fear it is all related to my heart condition which isn't getting any better.  Fortunately most of the time I feel pretty good as long as I don't exert too much.  Enough complaining for one day.  I don't have any commitments for the day so can spend the day resting.

Pat, you have had quite a seige.  I sure hope you are on the mend.  Sorry to hear that Judy McK is still in the hospital and now faces another surgery.

Ruth Ann sure glad you didn't have a blockage.  I remember you fighting the anemia before.

Hi Al and Nards and all who post later today.

Marilyn

Praying for you are, also Pat Judy Mc, Colin, Jeannine's hubby.

Here is something that I posted on SN, but it applies here also. Some you already know about.

Did you all know that Urinary tract infection in Seniors can cause severe confusion and that is the only symptom? I just learned that yesterday from the Home Health nurse that visits my patient, it also can cause seniors to be unsteady on their feet. A Urinary tract infection can also cause a person to appear to mimic dementia.

Last week my patient was having some rather bizarre behavior, I would find her sitting in her car when I arrived in the morning, when I asked why she was there her reply was that she was waiting to go. When I asked where she was going she didn't know. She would call me and tell me that she couldn't put on her nightgown and other things too.

On Sunday she fell, she couldn't get up and was not wearing her lifeline. I found her on the floor in just her slip on Monday morning, called an ambulance and took her to the hospital, she had a urinary tract infection, was confused was bruised up from her Coumadin and laying in one position for almost 20 hours, no broken bones this time.
I will stress to you all here if you have a lifeline wear it ALL the time and USE it. Some seniors don't want to press the button because of all the emergency people who show up.

I AM WITH YOU

What is the depth of your deepest despair?
That you think my love cannot reach to you there
When you pour out your heart telling me your fears
Know you not that I am listening for I am a God who hears

Listening to you calling from the agony of your heartbreaking
From the trembling of your soul in despair that is shaking
Knowing your hopelessness I bring you my love
For I am almighty God and listening from above

It is my arms which will reach and will hold
Close to my bosom and sheltered in their fold
My hand will gently dry the tears from your eyes
For you are my child and I hear your anguished cries

Great is my comfort and peaceful my rest
Lay your weary head gently on my breast
Down your wet cheeks slips another silent tear
But you are not alone for I am with you here

I will hold you child in the darkness of your night
When blackness encloses you and shuts out the light
In the shadows I am with you; you will hear my sweet voice
I will turn your tears to laughter and help you rejoice

I love you my child and I want you to know
I am in the deep valley of the journey that you go
And I will lead you to the sunshine of the mountain top high
Although the way I lead; you do not understand why

Someday you will know and understand
Why I led you this road with my nail scarred hand
But know my child you are in my love
And I am gently leading you to a home up above

No more crying on its golden shore
No heartaches and tears for you anymore
No more pain to try and to test
But only everlasting joy in your eternal rest

Hi Larry..thank you for visiting my website and signing my guestbook. I hope you enjoyed your visit. Hi to everyone else....I do read all your posts.... I am in such trouble..the wife asked me what was on the TV...and I said dust! She was not too pleased! :clobber:   and then I was looking for my glasses and she asked....had you them on when you took them off. :idiot: Think she is grumpy because I bought her a dishwasher and you might think she should have been happy...but not her..oh no...she did not want a dish cloth  but a sponge and now I believe in U.F.Os because I saw two flying saucers and managed to duck before the wife had brained me with them. :ticked: Right....away for my tea :coffee:

We have been tinkering with the laptop and it is irksome to have problems with it - we shall keep trying.

Larry:  Do you think you might call your doctor for a quick check on your condition?  And, your daughter may already be back at work - excellent news.

Ruth Ann:  What a gift of great news for you on the latest test.

An easy morning here and it feels so good.  I have to work at the book sale from 3 to 7 today & that is much less than I used to work.  I have quit raising my hand..

Hi all,

Sorry I've been scarce, up to the hospital alot. Frank is doing good, coming along slow but surely. Have been reading and praying. Just been really busy. Don't mean to leave any one out but i do need to make one comment.

:D  Hi to all. well woke up this morning to more snow but it is so beautiful it is melting but still had to get out the snow blower as it is to heavy to shovel.  I still have not heard any results re my cat scan for my back so they say no news is good news.  God is so good to my wife and I in so many ways he just keeps blessing and blessing and I think that we as Christians do not realiize how blessed we are and how God looks after us but yet we still complain. I still ask that you continue to pray for my wife  Noreen for her back problem. Thank you.

Ruth Ann Bice. Praise God for answered prayer I had that same test a long time ago and did not like it.  What is Anemia and also please look after your diabetes as my son got it at 14 years old and his wife  watches him like a hawk. have a good weekend. :)

Pat, Keep looking after yourself and do as the doctor tells you.

Al  Hi haw are you doing keep smiling. :coffee:

Larry. Have you ever tried green tea my kids think its the best for everything that ails you and my son-in-law takes it all the time and has done some reading up on it.  Also  on our Christian radio  station every Saturday we have a program that talks about this particular type of blueberry that you can take and has so many things that are good for people that have heart problems If you go on the net you can find out about blueberrie's.  Look after yourself and if you feel sick get to the doctor.  God bless and we will pray for you. Gord. :coffee:

Carol.  It is nice to not to have to be running around to much but it does get boring if you have nothing to do.  Don't give up on the lap top it will get a lot easier just keep plodding along. Gord. ;D

Hi everyone!   :)

Haven't been around for a while as my life is very busy right now, but I wanted to drop in and say, "G'day!"

I've been taking lots of photos but concentrating on my writing more in recent weeks. My first book is to be released in a few months and my publisher has asked me to go ahead with the writing of more stories in the series of illustrated children's books that I've been writing. This, with my family of 6 sons, two businesses, homeschooling my eldest son .... I've been stretched, but happy to know I'm in the centre of God will. :)

Sorry to hear of those here who have not well, praying for you all to be blessed by Him in every way.

Nita and Etta Sue, thank you so much for the interest and encouragement you have given me in my photography. :)  And Pat, and everyone else, thank you for your love and fellowship here on these boards.

Bless you all!

Love, :)

Hi everyone!

Gord, To answer your question about anemia -

What Is Anemia?

Anemia is a condition where there is an abnormally low number of red blood cells circulating in the body. It is the most common disorder of the red blood cells, affecting about 3.5 million Americans.

Anemia is not a disease. It is a condition that results from below-normal levels of hemoglobin Iron-containing pigment of the red blood cells that carries oxygen from the lungs to the tissues. in the red blood cells. Hemoglobin is the iron-containing pigment of the red blood cells that carries oxygen from the lungs to the tissues.

I suffered from anemia both times while I was pregnant, and the drs think all the trouble I had the first time (almost dying and all!) was because  of being iron deficient.  At this point in my life I don't have any problems with it, but my mother for the most part of her life was anemic.

Been scarce, but busy.  Enjoying all the posts and praying for those with needs.

Take care,

I am wanting to take a fishing trip to Rice Lake this June.  Anyone in Canada know of a good camp/cottage there?  I have downloaded a number of sites, but it hard to know which camp is the best.

If anyone has had an experience (good or bad) I'd appreciate hearing about it.

Thanks for your good answer, Samantha. I'm one of those who has had troubles with anemia on and off for years. Not a lot of fun, since it makes a person feel so run down and tired.

Colin, I could hear the ache of despair and heartbreak in your latest poem. God has given you unusual insight into emotions. We appreciate you and your friendship and love for our Master. God bless you.

Ed, I wish I knew more about fishing.  :) The only thing I know is that my hubby enjoyed it the few times he had the time to fish and then now my youngest son absolutely loves it. And, he's a wonderful chef with the fish he catches, too! Yummy. Enjoy yourself.

Jeannine, I've walked miles in your footsteps - have prayed daily and often each day for you, your hubby, and your family.

Speaking of my youngest son who lives in Atlanta, he phoned today. Their next door neighbor lost his wife not many months ago. Well, this elderly man's 40-year old daughter in law is extremely gravely ill at this time. A cyst on her thyroid gland burst and she has set up a possibly terminal blood infection. Her body systems have begun shutting down, and now the worry is that if she does live, some of her fingers or toes may have to be amputated because there's currently no blood flow to them - the heart is too weak to pump ithe blood out that far in the extremities. This lady and her husband have a 12 year old and a 10 year old. These children certainly need their mother. I'd appreciate it if you help me pray for Theresa.

God bless us all.

Colin:  Thanks for the poem it sure means a lot to me at the present time.  God has been so good to us but when the curves come we do need the encouragement.

Marilyn:  The info you posted about UTI was new to me and since I can have problems it is good to have more knowledge.

Ed:  Mel & our son went to Rice Lake fishing but did not have any luck but it was in Oct. and the weather was cold and the boat was giving problems as well.  When you get home let us know were the fish are. About a place to stay they stayed at our son's mother in laws place so you will be on your own.

Pat:  Keep getting well.   Also Judy M has had her share of hip problems and I hope it will soon end.  My mom had a hip complication and it was sure discouraging for her and the rest of the family as well.

Ruth Ann, how sad.  I prayed.

Marilyn, would those "symptoms" or results of a UTI be present only in a senior, or could it also affect others, if it were severe enough?  I know pregnant women have to be careful because it can start labor/preterm labor, but I didn't know the other stuff.

We had a good time in Pigeon Forge.  Trav had his own money, and that cut down alot of the "wants."  He knew he could have it, but he had to buy it, so he was very selective.  Of course, since his grandmother was with us, he got some extra stuff as well.

Everyone take care.  Travis has a basketball game early Saturday mroning, so I probably go try to make myself go to sleep.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Happy to say I am feeling more like my normal self this morning.  I spent most of the day laying down and was very tired.  I am thinking I was having a bit of heart failure and was finally able to get the fluid off during the night.  Sure hope that period is over for awhile.  It interferes with what I want to do.

Still having troubles with Comcast although it is up and down this morning and I am currently using it.  I wanted to post early before it all crashes again.

Pat is sick with a cold and plans to stay in today.  She asked me to bring her back an egg/sausage biscuit for her breakfast.

Jeannine, glad to read that your husband is recovering.  I am sure it seems slow but we have to take small steps and then the steps will get longer.

Karmat, it sounds like you are training Travis early to handle his own money and the choices he must make in how it is used.  Glad you enjoyed your trip to Pigeon Forge.  There are certainly a lot of places to shop over there.

Ruth Ann, that is certainly a said situation with your son's neighbor.

Samantha, thanks for that good explanation of anemia.  Marilyn, that was good information you shared on UT infection.

Karen, you are certainly a busy and talented person.

Gord, I have not tried green tea or blueberries but several other things over the years.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Carol, unless I am willing to go to the ER there really isn't a quick check with the doctor available.  I have had these same conditions quite a few times so know that with time it will likely pass.  Just don't have the energy or feel like doing anything during the time I am experiencing these down times.

It is time to pick up the man who I take with me to coffee each day.  Hope everyone has a good day.

Marilyn

Karma, the nurse only addressed the UTI problem with the seniors. However if it presents those symptoms in seniors it must also present them in other people as well. It was not just women either men too are susceptible to the same symptoms.  UTI's don't always present the usual symptoms of burning and difficulty going.

In the next few days I will be shopping for a new bed. It has been 14 years since I bought a new mattress set. My present  box spring has been chewed on my many puppies as I used to raise them. Many puppies have been under the bed to destroy to  under covering of the box spring.  I was so embarrassed when the people from the church moved me to this house and saw the condition of my  box spring.

Well I have to get ready to go workout, make my bed and soak my CPAP equipment in a vinegar solution. Not the machine itself, just the mask, water container, and tubing.

Good Saturday to all.  We were expecting an ice/snow storm - the wind blew like crazy & everything blew all the way to the east coast...

Gord:  Hello, we will keep on plodding.  I use the laptop for my quilt patterns and finally did get to download a pattern for embroidery.  (Sewing isn't like what grandma & mom did).  Thanks, you always have an uplifting response.

Ed:  There are more Rice Lakes in the states - in Wisconsin & Minnesota for sure.  Lots of Rice in those lakes.  We are planning a fishing trip to Lake Polson, Montana this May.

Ruth Ann:  Prayers for Theresa.

Larry:  You know your symptoms best & it sounds like the rest and sleep helped a lot.  I worked 5 hours yesterday at the book sale and slept a lot longer this morning.  Sure don't have the stamina of even a few years ago.  Pat's biscuit breakfast sounds nice.

Time to move around here.

A little story I received in my email:

Coal Basket Bible

The story is told of an old man who lived on a farm in the mountains of Kentucky with his young grandson.

Each morning, Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading from his old worn-out Bible. His grandson who wanted to be just like him tried to imitate him in any way he could.

One day the grandson asked, "Papa, I try to read the Bible just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I  forget as soon as I close the book.  What good does reading the Bible do?"

The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and said ,"Take this coal basket down to the river and bring back a basket of water."

The boy did as he was told, even though all the water leaked out before he could get back to the house.

The grandfather laughed and said, "You will have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again.

This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home.

Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was "impossible to carry water in a basket," and he went to get a bucket instead.

The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You can do this.  You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try again.

At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got far at all.

The boy scooped the water and ran hard, but when he reached his
grandfather the basket was again empty.

Out of breath, he said, "See Papa, it's useless!" "So you think it is
useless?" The old man said, "Look at the basket."

The boy looked at the basket and for the first time he realized that the basket looked different.

Instead of a dirty old coal basket, it was clean. "Son, that's what happens when you read the Bible.  You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, it will change you from the inside out.

That is the work of God in our lives. To change us from the inside out and to slowly transform us into the image of His son."

Take time to read a portion of God's word each day.

Hi Ed...

I'll ask Ian, my son, who has a fishing website and maybe he might have some suggestions.

If you travel along the 401, we'll just have to meet for coffee.

Thank you, friends, for praying with us about poor Theresa. Her condition has worsened as of the last report I had this morning.

And, her husband isn't reacting well to this stress at all. He was handling it yesterday, but was angry and rude to everyone this morning. The thoughts of losing your life-mate really are hard to bear.

And, poor family, they do not attend church. If God were to see fit to work a miracle in this family, possibly the entire family could be won to the Lord.

I was a bit disappointed this morning - my friend who is in a wheelchair tried to get onto her van lift before I got there to take her to lunch, and she backed up too far and damaged the lift. So, she wasn't able to come. I had to go to chair the meeting in her absence, but it certainly was distressing to leave her sitting at her door crying.

She phoned the kind man who drives her to church on Sundays. He caught a ride to her complex and was able to fix the lift. So, then, I purchased her lunch and carried it back to her.

I'm so thankful the man could help her out - it's about a 50 mile ride to the dealer, which means she has to sit on a couch all day long when the wheelchair (which is also malfunctioning on a regular basis) or the van must be serviced.

It's such a difficult situation, and she usually takes it with such grace. Today just wasn't a good one for her.

Pat, I liked the story - a very good illustration for each of us.

Y'all have a good evening.

Well, we just got through with severe weather in our area.  No tornados but severe winds, that knocked down our wooden fence in our backyard.  Right now its just too dark to look at the damage.  The system that came through will be going on toward Larry in Georgia overnight, so remember all those in the line of these storms.
