  Who's running the show?

Let's pray for one another - Prayer and Praise     Thanks for visiting this area of our site to share prayer requests and items for praise!

Morning Devotional...

Psalm 11.  "In the Lord I put my trust; how can you say to my soul, 'flee as a bird to your mountain?'"

Satan has temporary control of many things in this world.  The result is that it often appears as though he's "running the show."  Sometimes it might even appear as though it would be advantageous to serve him and let him have his way in your life.  After all, if he's going to bring about his own conclusion, then wouldn't it be better to be on his side?  So perhaps you should support his causes and choose your friends from his followers.  After all - you don't want to be left out in the end do you?  - that's the advice you'll always get from others in this world.  Sometimes it's pretty convincing.

But there are some important facts we mustn't neglect.  First of all, we need to be very, very aware that Satan isn't going to end up in control.  In fact, even now, "The earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein." (Psalm 24:1).

Satan is manipulating a world that doesn't even belong to him.  Paul tells us that God, in fact, has a different agenda.  He says, "for He has put all things under His feet."  He means that Jesus Christ is Lord, and all living things are eventually going to have to agree (Phil. 2:11)

With all this in mind, the psalmist is a good example for us when he says, "In the Lord I put my trust."

Jesus is the true and permanent Lord of all things, present appearances to the contrary not withstanding.  So take heart, brothers and sisters!  Put your trust in the true Lord and not in the "mountain" fortresses of this world.  "The Lord's throne is in heaven."
Al Moak

The God of Love My Shepherd Is
(Click to hear music)

The God of love my Shepherd is,
And He that doth me feed:
While He is mine and I am His,
What can I want or need?

He leads me to the tender grass,
Where I both feed and rest;
Then to the streams that gently pass,
In both I have the best.

Or if I stray, He doth convert,
And bring my mind in frame;
And all this not for my desert,
But for His holy Name.

Yea in death's shady, black abode
Well may I walk, not fear,
For Thou art with me, and Thy rod
To guide, Thy staff to bear

Surely Thy sweet and wondrous love
Shall measure all my days;
And as it never shall remove,
So neither shall my praise.
Amen.

Good words, Al.

We are home again from church.  Great services today---even with no preaching!  God is moving in our church and in our town!!

I have some photos ready to post, when I get one of those 'round tuits.'

Think I will go read a while, something other than my computer screen.  See you fine folks tomorrow!

Hi, friends,

I'm in from outside - brrr, it's c-o-l-d!!!

But, I'm thanking the Lord for taking care of me - I put my car keys in a different pocket tonight, and was worried again that they were locked up. But, I found them, thanks to God.

Then, there were 2 other reasons I found for thanksgiving tonight.

Isn't God GOOD!

Y'all have a good evening.

Well, goodnight everyone.

Tomorrow will be a busy day.  I have to take my licence plates up to the dealer for him to put them on my new vehicle.

Hope it will be ready tomorrow.  I have no wheels after 5 pm

God bless you all.

I've had a full day today ... and feel ready for bed.  I'll talk atcha later on... Y'all have a great day in the Lord.

Good Morning All,

Hey Janet~ I have a "round tuit", but I think it's in storage, if I ever get in there you can have it.  ;D

I hope everyone had a restful sleep. It's been snowing here in ER, lake effect snow, a couple of inches so far, I'll get some day light pictures and try to remember to post them.

Hopfully I'll finally get to physical therapy today, we have Gary's car til he comes home on 2/9 from FL for a week or so. It'll be good to drive again, haven't driven in at least a month, hope I remember how.

More tests tomorrow for hubby and get the results on Thurs so going to be busy and get busier after that depending on what they find. :-\

Hi to everyone! Hope everyone has a God filled and blessed day!

Faith's Poems

Colin

Mild day here in N.Ireland..dry and pleasant outside. The snowdrop flowers are really blooming now and the shoots of the daffodils are well up out if the ground. I write with a lot of sadness this morning... a dear friend ..Mary..  her daughter collapsed and died yesterday in her bathroom. She had been found with cancer a few months ago and was being treated...but she seemed to be doing so well. This is a terrible shock to us all...Rosemay..the girl who died just 53 has a twin sister Carol. Their mother got me to write a poem for them 3 years ago when they turned 50. They were born on Christmas day. I did the poem and put it on a scroll with a lot of their photos. This has been a blow.

Pat..lovely devotional from Al..hope you are keeping well.

Hi to all of you...will call by later
The Country Poet

Etta Sue

Pat ~  Whooeee!  Pat's getting her wheels!  Hey, Pat!  Your room would be free when you come down here.  Nothing much down here costs anything so the scenery would be free.  I can cook....some!  So truly think about it!  Ya here?  We could go together and meet Janet halfway or even on to her place!!

Colin ~ What a blow to that family to lose someone so young.  Even 93 is young when you aren't expecting them to go home to God.

Jeannine ~ I used to have a 'round tuit', too!  Don't know where it went to now.

Jane ~ You are so right.  God is always right on schedule....His schedule which is always right!

Ruth Ann ~ After I locked my keys in the car several years ago, I never get out of my car without my keys in my hand...never put them in my purse or pocket until I am out of the car.  It works for me.  You might try that!  Once I looked everywhere for my keys and they were in the house door....on the outside!!   :-[

Janet ~ I am off to the gallery when I get this posted to see if you got your photos posted!

Al ~ Great devotion.  We worldly people tend to take our trust somewhere else at times.  It's when we are at our low spots that we finally turn to God.  When I think I am running the show, is it really Satan?  Didn't God give me brains to think for myself at times?  Hunh?

Well, today I am taking Kitty out for lunch to a new, classy restaurant in Pendleton where Jerry used to live.  There is a restaurant by the same name in Indy and it is really neat.  Her birthday was last Monday but she was in Ohio with her grandkids.  And the radio said it was brrrrrrr outside.  It is 14°F with wind....that means bundle up!!

xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Etta Sue

Samantha ~ I forgot.  I knew Laurie was going to have another baby but didn't know she had it already!  I still love that show and it does seem they aren't as much over the wall as they used to be.  Liveable designs...not Hildy and Doug outrageous designs.

Janet

Good Monday, Y'all!

Yea, new wheels for Pat!  And she can drive to Etta Sue's and Janet's!!  OR to Janet's and Etta Sue's........we will have to work on those plans and make it happen.  That would be so much fun.  No telling what the three of us could find to get into when we get together!  ::)

Sorry, Etta Sue, no photos yet, haven't found that round tuit, and Jeannine's is in storage, and yours is misplaced, and ...........well, anyway.  :-\

Colin, so sorry about your young friend.  That must be so very hard for her twin---and for their mother.  So much sorrow in this world, but for those of us who know our Lord, not nearly the heartbreak as for those who do not.  My condolences to you as well, Colin.  It is always hard to lose a friend.  I know your lovely poem on the scroll meant and means a lot to this family.  Lovely of you to do that for them.

Jane, lots happening in my world, too.  And the list seems to grow daily.  "The hurrier I go, the behinder I get!"  :P  Some weeks are like that.  But I know Who holds tomorrow.

My best painting buddy, Dee, has been caring for her brother for a year, in her home.  He had cancer, and he passed away Friday.  He would never have lived that long if she hadn't taken him in and taken care of him.  He has 7 children, none of whom came to help her.  Sad, the shape some families get to be.  :(

Next week, Mon-Friday, is my portrait class, so I will probably be scarce in here.  And I simply MUST get my stuff in order in preparation for the class.

Ruth Ann, glad you 'found' those car keys!  Isn't it amazing how they sometimes seem to have a life of their own?  :-\  Yes, God is good---all the time!  He is never too busy to hear our cry, and never too unconcerned to help, even with the smallest things.  He comforted me mightily yesterday.  What on earth do people do who don't have the Lord in their lives?  I cannot imagine.

Samantha, glad you also have wheels for a few days, at least.  I hope you get much better reports on your hubby when he goes to the doctor.

And if I sit here much longer, I will not make a dent in those things needing my attention!  See you later!

A couple of weeks ago, I had gone to a Mary Kay retreat in West Virginia.  We (the two ladies riding with me and myself) stopped once to get a drink.  One of the ladies walked all the way in the store to see if I had my keys before locking the doors.  We were about 30 minutes away from home, so no big deal.  The next time we stopped, I was pumping gas, and I thought the other two were staying in the car.  They got out and I heard "click."  Oh no.

We called AAA, and were told that they would be there within the hour, sometime.  We were in some little spot on the map (actually it wasn't even on the map, according to AAA.  They couldn't find it :( ).  The cashier called their one cop, Bob, who came to our rescue.  :)  All was well, and we were only delayed 15 or 20 minutes, but it is still such a helpless feeling.

It is cold here today.  I looked at the thermometer a minute ago, and saw that it had gotten up to 12.  Methinks the kiddies and I will be staying in today.

Pat, I'm glad to see you will be transportating soon.  Glad things have worked out.

I'm going to run.  The kids are finished eating (finally) and it is time to do Trav's schoolwork.  (We've started Kindergarten this month).

Take care and stay warm!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone from a very cold Georgia.  It was down to 18 degrees this morning and a few minutes ago was only up to 21 degrees.  The cafe, where we had coffee this morning, was pretty chilly as it is small and the door is opened very often.  However, we didn't freeze.

I was very upset with myself when I got the mail Saturday and found I had overdrawn one of our bank accounts.  In checking on it I found I had paid the electric bill twice.  Fortunately we have a home equity line of credit setup (which we had never used before) and they covered the three small transactions that brought the balance below zero.  I was afraid I would have to pay a $30 overdraft fee for each but when I went this morning I found there was no fee beyond the interest on the loan they had made from the equity line.  I paid that off and found it only cost us six cents in interest.  I was delighted and that is a good thing to know since I am sure this won't be the only senior moment I will have over the next few years.

We are going to go downtown this morning to attend an important event in our daughter's life.  She doesn't know we are coming but on Wednesday she will turn 42 and we won't be able to see her then.  It is a beautiful day here even if it is very cold.

Al, thanks for the devotional.

It is time to leave so will make this short today.

Marilyn

Good Morning. I was here earlier to read the few posts from last night, then I  went on to Curves to do my workout. I am skipping Tai Chi this morning as I just don't feel like rushing off again so soon. It is cold and foggy here this  morning. The dampness makes it seem  colder that it really is.

Larry It is good to have you back home, enjoy your day with your Stacey.

Janet hope you find your round tuit  I think I finally found mine since I have  finally started doing my file cabinet.

Colin so sorry to hear about your friend's daughter,  death is always harder on the ones left behind to greive. I am praying for you and the family.

Ettas Sue I sent you a cute PPS.

Karma Hey there.

Hello and have a God blessed day to everyone including those I have not named.

I am having one of those days when I feel like I am being ignored. So I am going over to the corner to ask Jane for prayer.

Well, I am getting here before noon anyway -- barely :-\

Colin, I am sad along with you about the loss of your friend.  I know the pain seems almost unbearable at times, but our God is an AWESOME God and He can pour healing balm into all the aches of the heart.  I will keep y'all in prayer.

Etta Sue~ It has always been so refreshing and relaxing to just KNOW that our Father is in control of all things and all I have to do is follow His lead.  In fact, I remember a chorus we used to sing:  "My Lord knows the way through the wilderness; All I have to do is follow (repeat) Strength for today is my always and all that I need for tomorrow ... My Lord knows the way through the wilderness; All I have to do is follow!"

Jane, lots happening in my world, too.  And the list seems to grow daily.  "The hurrier I go, the behinder I get!"  :P  Some weeks are like that.  But I know Who holds tomorrow.

Janet~Funny you used just those words ... I have a placque with that slogan: "The hurrier I go, the behinder I get!"  My mother used to say that often!!  Then the song "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" is the one my daughter Jean sang after she was diagnosed with cancer (only at the time she was told it was diabetes).  Ever since, that has had a very special meaning to me ...

Marilyn~You are certainly welcome to join me in the corner.  There's plenty of room, and it's a great vantage point for all that goes on in this room!  Makes for a good prayer corner, as well.   ;)

Hey there, Karma!  How's that li'l family doing these days?  How about Mommy?

I am truly sorry that I don't seem to have time -- lost my round tuit -- to respond to everyone here, but please know I have heard    read everything and you are vey much in my prayers and thoughts.

Well, here I am back finally.  I had no computer from Thursday 'til now, and I sure felt lost without it!  It had a strange little warranty problem that they fixed for no charge, so that was a very good thing!  It has a "sleep" mode that it goes into after a certain amount of time, and when it went into it, it simply wouldn't wake up!  I had to turn it on, then off, then on a few times to get it going. Well, they put a new version of the System software in it, and then it worked fine!  Anyway, it's indeed great to have it back.

Thanks to Pat for picking up my "Thoughts for the Week" and putting it in here.

Al Moak

By the way, Pat - nice looking car!  I pray God will keep it going a long time and bless it to you in every way.

Colin

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers...Mary is a Christian and so is Carol...Rosemary never made any profession to be one..this only adds to the distress and hurt not knowing. There is always some comfort if we know that someone dies in the Lord...I really feel for Mary..she is one delightful lady.

Wow Jane that was sure a nice cup of Chai tea you fixed for me. That Hazelnut creamer really  was good in the tea. Thanks for the Croissant and strawberry cream cheese and the prayer.

Ruth Had a really low blood sugar this morning and there was no orange juice inthe house. It was only 49 I had to get something in her in a hurry she was wanting to go to sleep and I wouldn't let her. I gave her 2 spoonfuls of sugar and that bought it up to 55 within 10 minutes then I got her in the car and to the Senior center  and gave her some orange juice. She likes the OJ and will drink what I buy her for these emergency situations when there is no emergency.  She really looked bad today. Ruth Ann I told her about the Candy canes or hard candy like you suggested.

Oh Colin that is so sad that Rosemary had never professed Christ as her Lord.

Marilyn, those glucose tablets are good to keep on hand for diabetics, and they work really well.  Darrel keeps some by the bed.  Also, we were told that apple juice works better than orange juice for that.  But if she prefers the orange, that has to be considered, too.  My friend whose husband often had really bad lows, kept tubes of cake icing around that she could squeeze into his mouth.  That brought him out of it quickly.  Don't fret about feeling ignored, we all feel that way at some time.  Nothing is intentional, I don't think.

What a day.  My mother always told me there would be days like this, but today it felt like several attacked me at once!!  I worked like crazy and still didn't get a fourth of what I wanted to do, done.

Karma, good to see you coming in, always good to hear about Trav and Kristi---and you and Nards, of course.  Don't you just HATE it when the keys get locked in the car?   :ticked:

We invited a young couple from church for dinner tomorrow night.  We want to sponsor them in a Walk to Emmaus this coming Fall.  They are sweet kids.  But that means I need to do some house cleaning tomorrow!  :-\

Larry, I'm so glad you didn't have to pay those high returned check fees.  Darrel has had an account in the Grant County Bank since he was 11 years old, never had an overdraft until about three years ago.  Boy, was he embarrassed!  They went ahead and paid it, and let him know, and you can bet he wasted no time in getting to the bank to take care of it!  :-[  Wish Stacey a happy birthday from me!

Al, it sounds like your computer went into a coma!!  Glad you got things fixed; it is very annoying to have computer problems.  They came and picked up Beth's computer today, she said.  I hope it doesn't cost a bundle to fix it.

Hey, Jane!  As soon as I get time, I will come over and sit in the corner with you and have a cuppa!  We could have such a nice visit.

Colin, see you later!  :)

Hello Everyone...

First of all, I'm truly saddened about your news, Colin.  So sad to see a friend pass away like this.  Hang in there my good friend.  We're all here for you.

Yes!  I got my car.  I didn't get the new tires yet.  They weren't in so I'll get them on Wed.  But I'm thrilled with it.  It has some bells and whistles that I'm not used to but I'll get used to them right quick.

I've had a very busy day and so I won't be posting to everyone.  Just so happy to see you in here Karma and that's so horrible when you lock your keys in the car.

My father always had a spare "emergency" key hidden away in his wallet that he just refused to ever use without it being an emergency and so following in his footsteps, I have a little penknife that Jack used to use on a chain and I have an emergency key on it and it's in my purse in an area where I never go to a lot and so I always have a key...which reminds me, I'll have to get a key cut for the new car and put that on and take my old one off.

I might be back.  I went and did a bit of shopping and I still have some things to put away.

Pat:   Try not to leave your purse in the car alone or perhaps you might end up in trouble, that did happen to me several years ago and Mel got home from Orangeville before CAA was able to get the door open.

TO DARLING MOM

If you want to know what's in my heart
And what my Mom you mean to me
Just look into my boyish eyes
And in the pools of blue you'll see

The love I have; how deep it is
Its offering to you I cannot speak
Can't reach my arms to hold you tight
And kiss you Mom on the cheek

But hear my love when I laugh
Listen for its melody in the air
Take its message to your ears
And know darling Mom I really care

How longing arms would reach for you
To hold you tight in their embrace
To toss your hair with mischievous glee
And watch a smile light up your face

Feel my love when you gently touch
And place your hand upon my breast
The beating of my tender heart
Will tell you Mom you are the best

Love in my laughter and beating heart
Words of it I cannot offer you
But when you bend to smother me with kisses
You will see it all in my eyes of blue

Hi Marilyn ~ i know how you feel.

Hi Al ~ great you got the computer back, i know how it feels to not have one for a few days.

Colin ~ Thank you my friend for the poem from Michael. You made me cry.

Hi to everyone else, just popped in to read and let you know that today is the PET/CT scan for my husband. Hopefully they won't find any more places with cancer. We finally have a car to use for a little while til our friend comes home from FL. Then we have to find our own.

Everyone have a God filled and Blessed day!

hi Carol,

I'm always up early, midnight EST, for the last 6+ years. That is when my son's nurse goes home and I take over.
You are up early though, don't usually see you here at this hour. :) Everyone is usually asleep unless they are on the other side of the world/pond.

Jeannine, Hope all the medical tests go well today.

It is cold, cold, cold here in Western NC.  Maybe not as much so as some of you further north, but definitely cold for us.  I was so ready to stay curled up under the blankets this morning.  The kids were so not ready to stay in bed.  Kristi is sitting beside me right now playing with a box of her brother's toys, and an empty sippy cup that she keeps trying to put on her foot. ???

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.  Stay warm and take care!

Good Morning. to All

Jeannine I am praying for your husband's tests today. Thank you Jesus that you have the use of your friend's car at this  crucial time.

Colin such a beautiful poem from Michael to Jeannine. Has your dear wife recovered from the car accident?

Hey Al  glad you got your Mac back. Hey that rhymes.

I have a full set of keys (house and car) that I keep in the bottom of my purse all the time. However once last summer I walked to church on a Sunday evening and didn't take my usual set of keys or my purse. I had to call Gilbert to come and unlock my house for me. I called from the church as soon as I noticed, (good thing I had my cell phone) so when I got home my door was already unlocked for me. Gilbert has keys to my house and I have keys to his.

Carol thanks for the good thoughts for the caregivers. We do go through some scary situations.

Pat glad to hear that you got your new car.

Good morning!

Colin, what a lovely poem you wrote for Michael to his dear mother Jeannine.  You truly have a gift, and it's lots of fun to have you use it here and allow us to enjoy it.  Thank you.

I must go visit Beth this morning, also stop by to see my painting buddy.  So I can't stay here long.

I wanted to tell you about an unusual funeral that was held here a few days ago.  A lady died of cancer, one who had lived a godly life and been an example to those around her.  At the funeral, her daughter was baptized!  She said she had never been baptized, and that her mom always told her "You will do it when you are ready.'  So she wanted to do it in front of her mother, before her mother was buried.  It was a real testimony of a mother's influence.

I have added a few pictures to my album, if you want to take a look.  :)

I will be back later on, see you then.

Hi everyone.

We all lingered at coffee this morning as the cafe was comfortable (not cold like yesterday) and the conversation was good.  Pat and I have someplace we want to go this morning and then as soon as I get home I will leave again to go with my friend, Rod, to the shopping center area.  I have to take my laptop back for them to put in the new battery that I am due under my extended warranty.  My friend had an appointment up at the mall area and invited me to go along so can accomplish  my task and spend time with my friend.

We did have a nice time with our daughter yesterday for a couple of hours.    It was 2:30 before we got home so the day was pretty well shot.  My friend loaned us a movie called "Dreamer" about a little girl and a race horse and we enjoyed watching it last night.  It is a very nice movie.  The little girl in the movie is fron a town not very far from where we live and had appeared on one of the American Idol type programs last year.

It is still very chilly here and we may be facing an ice storm in our area on Thursday.  They are carefully watching the situation.  It is certainly cold enough and some moisiure is headed our way.

Marilyn, it is good to be back home.  I have no desire to maintain a second home in another location as many retired people do.  I guess it is a good thing since I really couldn't afford to do that anyway.  :)  I am sorry you felt ignored.  I can assure you that my not addressing any individual here does not indicate I am ignoring them but rather I don't have the time to devote to a detailed message or simply can't think of anything to say specifically.  I cherish each message and the sense of community I find here on CP.  Our daughter was given something to take if her blood sugar got too low.  Of course, the problem has been that it has been way too high but she now seems to be able to control it better with the medication and attention to checking on it.

Jane, isn't it wonderful that we can know "who holds tomorrow"?

Al, glad you got your computer back and it is staying awake.

Colin, since we cannot know another persons heart I think we must cling to the hope that the person who has not made the profession of faith to our knowledge may have done so unknown to us.  This is something totally outside our own ability to deal with.  However, it is normal to think of these things at the time of death.  Fortunately time helps heal the pain of the loss.

Janet, it sounds like your "to do" list may have been way too long and as you look back on it did it really matter that you didn't get it all done as you wished?  Yesterday I turned down a request to serve on a committee.  While I hated to do it as know it is hard to get folks to serve on committees it was something that I really did not want to do.  Had it been something else my answer might have been different.  Janet, thank you for the birthday wish for our daughter and thanks to everyone who remembers her in her prayers.  God has done marvelous things in her life the last 6 months.

Carol, I wish I could attend one of your book sales.  However, I know it takes a lot of work to get ready for something like that.  I was in our new library the other day and saw this lady looking at a table of books and I commented to her that there were so many books and so little time to read and she agreed with me.

Ruth Ann, hope you were able to rest well last night and won't be as tired at the end of this day.

Pat, if your new car has one of those special keys that tie into an alarm system be prepared for a large cost for the key.  Mine has a chip in it and takes a special key and is very expensive to duplicate.  Glad you got the car and I can just visualize you driving around in it.  I really like the color.

Ruth, I don't carry a purse but I always remove my keys when I turn off the car and most often check my pocket again to be sure the key is there before closing the door.  I always lock the door except when I have it in the garage.

Jeannine, I will be thinking of you and your husband today as he has his tests.  You certainly have your hands full.

Karmat, it is cold here in Georgia today as well.

Etta Sue

I am thinking that Stacey and my son, Tony, has the same birth date but different year.  My Tony is 46 today!  I have already called him and wished him happy birthday.

I really slept in today.  It is a balmy 10°F today with a strong wind so the wind chill is well below 10°F.  It felt so good under the covers that I just stayed there....and went back to sleep.

I have a house key hidden outside, Ivalou has one and I have two.  I have two sets of keys for the car.  When we go on trips, I give a set to Ivalou.  Once in Alabama I put gas in the car and went to the bathroom...leaving my keys in the ignition and purse on the floor board in the back seat.  Ivalou decided to go to the bathroom, too, and locked the door.  Oops!  AAA came and we were on our way in about a half hour.  THAT'S when I started giving her a set of keys, too.  And the only time I leave my keys in the car is if someone is staying in the car and they might need air or heat before I return.

A friend of mine passed away and the viewing is today.  Ivalou and I will be going this evening.  Carolyn had Alzheimers and really hasn't known anyone for several years.  So we really lost her years ago.

Kitty and I went to the new restaurant in Pendleton.  We both had a Dried Cranberry Chicken Salad.  VERY good!  With it came a cinnamon roll but we told the waitress to not bring it because of temptation!  Kitty and I were both good girls and ate what we should.

That's it for today.  Sorry I didn't reply to all but you know how it is.

Can you believe this month is almost over???

Good Morning!!   :coffee:  I took too long writing this and got kicked off the internet  :-[   :-\  Good thing I thought about saving it to notepad.

Colin~I, too, want to say what a beautiful poem you wrote for Jeannine from Michael ... And, thanks for putting it here to share with all of us.   ;)

Jeannine~Add me to the list of those praying for your husband (and all y'all) as you anticipate the outcome of the tests.  I pray everything will be favorable and that each of you will know the peace of God that passes all understanding.   <3

Keys ....
I have done the lock 'em in the car a time or two myself.   :-[  My daughter told me about AAA's service of making a "spare" key so I went there and have this pretend key in my billfold.  It's plastic and in a card the size of a credit card.  It will only open the door, not start the car.  I've had to use it a few times as well.

Actually, when I went on a trip (to the PA/NY Bash to be exact) I put my keys and other "valuable" stuff in the trunk of my car and left it parked at the airport.  Coming back I just had to use that AAA key to open the trunk and I was back in business.

Janet~ I'm heading to the gallery to check out your piccies!    ;)

I plan to go to the store in a few minutes, so best get to gettin'

Hey there and good morning to each of you to whom I have not spoken today.  Y'all are family to me and I don't always speak to each family member at a gathering initially ... eventually I do but when I get that round tuit..... or unless there is something really, 'portant that I have to say to them.

Good Morning All,

I'm just sitting here, reading your posts, looking at the gallery, massaging my dog, and enjoying this :coffee: .

Oh, yes, all that while walking slowly through Mark 3.

Well, it looks like winter will visit on Thursday or so.

In His Grip,

From Mark 3...

The religion scholars from Jerusalem came down spreading rumors that he was working black magic, using devil tricks to impress them with spiritual power.  Jesus confronted their slander with a story: "Does it make sense to send a devil to catch a devil, to use Satan to get rid of Satan?  A constantly squabbling family disintegrates. If Satan were fighting Satan, there soon wouldn't be any Satan left.  Do you think it's possible in broad daylight to enter the house of an awake, able-bodied man, and walk off with his possessions unless you tie him up first? Tie him up, though, and you can clean him out.

"Listen to this carefully. I'm warning you. There's nothing done or said that can't be forgiven.  But if you persist in your slanders against God's Holy Spirit, you are repudiating the very One who forgives, sawing off the branch on which you're sitting, severing by your own perversity all connection with the One who forgives."  He gave this warning because they were accusing him of being in league with Evil.

Hi, friends, I'm thankful I'm not so worn out as yesterday. Certainly must have needed the rest - didn't awaken till 7:35 this morning, so it really was a hurry-scurry morning to get to work on time.

Colin, your poem brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful gift God has given you!

I'm listening to that gospel music station as I'm here at the computer this evening. Isn't it wonderful we can do that!

Y'all have a good evening.

Hi everyone. 7:45am  on a mild morning in N.Ireland. Still dark outside. I have read all your comments of sympathy and prayers and also your words about my poem to Jeannine. I have not the time to go round you all to thank you one be one but I do so collectively. All your kind words are much appreciated and mean so much to me. Marilyn... to your question...Marlene is still sore but apart from that she is ok. Thank you for all your prayers. God bless.

I slept late this morning, after giving up the struggle and taking a sleeping pill sometime in the wee hours.  I wasn't able to "turn my head off." so sleep wouldn't come.  Each day has enough to deal with, without thinking about it all night and allowing it to carry over into tomorrow.  That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!  ;)

They had predicted more snow for us, but all we got is more cold.  This is the longest we have had snow on the ground in years.  Should be good for the crops and trees!

I added a few more photos last night in my gallery.

I hope everyone is doing well today.  My head feels as if it's 'muddled' so I hope that is temporary.  :-[  :-\

Janet~ You, too!  If I'd a known you was awake we could have had a party.  I, too, couldn't turn my mind off last night.  Besides that my computer decided to do a dance by vibrating loudly.  I am thinking it is full of dust/cat hair so will probably take it apart this afternoon and operate!  Don't you just hate those kind of nights!  I pray, I think of Hawaii, I think of sunshine...nothing seems to stop my mind from working overtime.

Kitty's Bob is going to come over today or tomorrow and help me 'operate' on the fireplace.  I am thinking it is full of dust also and causing the little fan in it to be slow and vibrate.  My toys are falling apart!

Today it is very cold....9°F but bright and sunny.  That helps a lot!!

Just breezin' through before i leave for work in a few minutes.  Still cold here, and we are supposed to get some nasty, nasty weather tomorrow.  I'm hoping it at least holds off until FEDEX can get here.  We have ordered a laptop and it is supposed to be delivered tomorrow.

Just so ya'll know, I'm starting to realize I was really, really missing this place.  I don't always have a lot to say, and I don't address individuals most times because I'm afraid I'll miss someone, but I read them all and pray when appropriate. :)

Take care, and stay warm!

Good Morning I can't stay long einough to address everyone. I have to leave shortly to get my my Tai Chi class. I have already been to Curves.

I found out yesterday that Saturday I am working the Health fair,  The company has a booth there.

Anyway I hope y-all have a belssed day.

Hi everyone.  The morning was spent going to coffee at the cafe with a large group of friends and then I went to Bible study at the church with our minister.  After that two other men and I went over to the donut shop for about 30 minutes and then I took one of my friends home.  I had to stop at the bank and then go to the grocery store.  Finally I got home as put things away and fixed a bit of lunch.  While I was eating I fixed some cold slaw (which is about the only thing I know how to fix).  Pat is still at the church and I am going to take a little nap as soon as I finish posting as am tired.  Tonight is choir practice.  I have missed the last two weeks due to our traveling.

Karmat, hope your new laptop gets there before the storm.  We are just on the southern edge of the storm area and while they think their might be some ice tomorrow morning the last I heard was it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Marilyn, hope your health fair goes very well.

Etta Sue, we all should open our computer towers occasionally and blow out the dust that accumulates.  The static electricity really attracts the dust.  I did mine just a few weeks ago.

Janet, glad you were able to sleep late this morning as sure you needed the rest.  While I usually have little problem going to sleep sometimes I will wake up and my mind starts to race and it is difficult to get back to sleep except right before it is time to get up.

Colin, glad to hear that Marlene is doing OK.

Pat, I think it is good that you have that kind of key.  I wished many times that my Saturn didn't have the security system built in particularly when it locked up and I had to wait 10 minutes for it to release.  Of course, that was related to a bad starter and no longer seems to be a problem.

Ruth Ann, glad you were not as tired and hope you have had a good day.

Shutterbugmom, good to see your posting.  Don't be a stranger.

Hi Kevin, hope your don't get slammed too hard with winter.

Jane, I had not heard of that plastic key from AAA.  That is a good idea.  Glad you had saved your long posting in notepad.  That is really a good idea.  I often also use the select all and copy function before hitting the post key just in case.

shutterbugmom

Good morning everyone,

I'm posting out of frustration and desparation this today.  I posted this info. in another area of the website, but I wanted as many people to see it as possible, so this doesn't happen to you.

Some of you may have noticed I've been experimenting with different copyrights on my photos.  Just a little more insight into why the copyright, for me personally.  I have a current example of why I want my work to show a copyright, even though the files are small.  This is a warning to everyone else who is going to be or is already professional with their photography, too.

:ticked:Today, someone is using some of my photos off the web for a poster for a big event in our town.  They cropped off my copyright (the one in the lower right corner that I have on some of my photos), so "you wouldn't look bad" and printed them too big to look good (said they even got a warning when they printed them at Costco), but they "didn't want to bother me late at night and needed the poster right away."  This is exactly why I want to have some type of copyright protection on my photos.  They are using and exibiting them to the public even though they look horrible!  In this case, I'm glad they cropped off my copyright so at least people won't associate the pixelated images with me, but this is quite upsetting to me and I need to find a solution.

I welcome any ideas.  There are protection options if you make a PDF file of photos to send via e-mail, but I don't know if PDF is usable for websites.  The protection keeps them from being able to print or alter files in any way.  If anyone knows about this, I would love to know, also, because I could do that in the future.

As you may expect, I'm very upset by this.  I know I have legal right to take action, but I am not inclined to do so.  I know I will calm down...Please help, Lord.

Blessings to you all,
Kathleen

I have no idea what to tell you, Kathleen.  I just know that some sites on the web does not give you the option to 'save image' and some does.  Maybe it would be worthwhile to look for a domain that offers that.

Larry ~ You are right.  My tower had all kinds of dust bunnies in there.  I sounds quieter now.

Marilyn ~ You are busy today....as you are nearly every day.  Keeps you young!

Karma ~ You must know that you and yours are thought of more than you will ever know by this Hoosier.

AND I pulled out the insert on my fireplace and this time I unplugged it.  Left it unplugged for a few minutes.  Decided that it was almost impossible to remove the cover to get inside of it, plugged it back in and put the insert back into the mantle.  I turned it on and it is quieter!  Maybe unplugging it, reset it!  I am hoping.  Seems to be hotter now.  Before the heat was coming out of about 6 inches of space.  Now it is about 18 inches of space!!  I sure hope that fixed it.

If two things are fixed that easy....whoooeeeeee!

Besides that all my clothes are clean, dried and put away.  Clean sheets on the bed.  House is dusted and swept.  Dishes are done.  Red letter day!!!  (Why do I do everything all in one day???

Janet

I have no advice for you, Kathleen, but do wish you the best.

Etta Sue, you want to come over and go through my house like a white tornado now, since you are all "practiced up?"  ;D

I worked all afternoon yesterday on framing---well, actually, cutting mats and backs and ordering frames.  I got a nice big order to do and since I will be in class all next week, needed to get as much done as possible.  Today I am working on getting my sketches and canvasses ready for the class.

Hello, Larry---glad you had a nice time at coffee.  I went and took my painting buddy out to lunch today.  Friends are great, aren't they?

No news from my corner, back to work now!

I am here again. Howdy all y-all. Busy days for me lately. Janet and Etta Sue I  have to clean my house too. These dogs have made a mess of my kitchen floor. It is all tracked up big time.

Ruth had another low Blood Sugar this morning, I spoke to the Diabetic nurse yesterday and she told me to just get some sugar cubes and feed her about 4 to bring it back up. Well I hadn't bought the sugar cubes yet so I gave her a glass of OJ with a spoon of sugar in it and got it up to 100 from 46. The nurse said I am doing a good job with Ruth, we are going to try cutting her  diabetes pill in half as it is probably to strong. The nurse came today to get all the readings off the meter and have a long talk with Ruth. She checked Ruth's chart and left me a few notes.

Please pray for Ruth, Kitty and Inez.  Kitty is my friend from Lucerne Valley and Inez was my prayer partner in Lucerne valley who moved to Oklahoma about the same time I moved here. God knows so just pray as you are led.

Gotta go now.

G'evening!  Getting ready for "the storm."  Well, actually I'm not.  I'm just sitting here.  if it hits, it hits.  Kristi isn't feeling well, so I kept her home out of the cold while Bernard went to church.

Kathleen, I have no idea what to advise you.  It is because of similar situations, though, that I now do my own printing, for whatever reason, and don't give files to anyone.

Etta -- You are, indeed, the Shuford's favorite Hoosier.  :)

Karmat, we've REALLY missed y'all. It's so good to see you back with us.

I am not a photographer, so I can't speak to the problem. However, I know a bit about Adobe Acrobat files, and, yes, you can password protect them and then they can't be copied. I don't know if they can be printed or not.

It requires the full Acrobat software. Recently mine at work was upgraded from a previous version, and the upgrade cost about $150. You could probably go to Adobe.com and poke around in their website to see more about the encryption possibilities.

Yes, today was a good day. And, we're also predicted to get that ice storm Larry and Karmat are talking about. I left my computer on at work and should be able to do some limited work from home tomorrow using my secure ID, provided the electricity stays on!

I also appreciate knowing about the plastic key. My son and I use AAA, so we can check that out. It would be VERY handy to have.

Y'all have a good evening.

I'm back again.  I'm a bit calmer, now.   :)

Thanks for all of your ideas, advice.  I did find out how to use the security in Adobe Acrobat.  I can now have them password protected and no one can alter or print them if I save them in the PDF form.

Karmat- I do print my own or I have them done by an online printer myself, but these particular very tiny files, I had given permission of for web use only and they went and printed them anyway.  I guess I can't even do that now, unless they're in the PDF form with the security measures taken.  I even know of one person who clicked, saved and printed one of these small files from the website itself and used it in their Christmas letter this year.  Sad.  :(

My kids and I are going to watch Glory Road now.  My hubby's working late, so it's nachos and a movie for the girls night.  Don't know why we didn't pick a chick flick.

I appreciate all of you letting me come and rant here today.
God Bless!

Good Morning all,

Thank you all for your concern and prayers for my hubby. The test went good and now we just wait for the results. We should find out tomorrow. Sitting on pins and needles til i know whats going on is not fun, I prefer to know so I can do something or not. Prayer helps but it sure is hard to shut off the mind when faced with something like this.

Shutterbugmom ~ do you, yourself put the pictures on the web? if so there are scripts out there to disable the right click and save property. Can't think of what its' called off hand but can find it if you want. Unfortunately i know of no way to disable with script the print screen and copy to any program like paint to get the picture.

Hi to everyone else, i too am reading and praying the posts. I hope everyone has a God filled and blessed day!

Good morning!  It's still frosty here in Kansas, but no additional snow.  I'm ready for a thaw!  I felt cold all day yesterday.

Ruth Ann, Karmat, Larry and anyone else in "frozen territory", I hope you stay in and stay warm today.  And that nobody loses their electricity.

I am going to Beth's Care Plan meeting this morning.  They have these for each resident quarterly; a time to review, ask questions and address any problems.  She asked me to bring her dog.  :)

This afternoon, I THINK my painters are coming.  We haven't had class in so long, I hope they aren't too rusty, or their teacher, either.  ;)

See you later!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

It appears we have escaped any bad effects from the ice.  The lines, trees and bushes have ice on the branches but they don't appear to be drooping.  There has been only minimal disruption of power in the area and none here so it is still nice and cozy in the house.

I did get out and go to coffee this morning but was glad to get back into the house.  I have the whole day free today so can stay inside.

Ruth Ann and Karmat, hope you all missed the ice and perhaps just had some snow.  I spoke with my daughter a few minutes ago and she said they had some snow in Atlanta but I didn't see any here in our area or it had melted with the rain we are getting by the time I got out.

We had a nice choir practice last evening and started on our Easter music.  We are doing something that we did in 2000 but that was the year we had to go and stay in Missouri with my parents for several months so I had actually missed singing it in final form although one of the copies had my name in it and some of my markings so know I must have practiced it a little bit.

I have no idea about copyrighting photos and protecting them on the Internet.  I am such a terrible photographer that I will never need to worry about that.  Shutterbugmom, I can understand why you would be upset and hope you find a solution.

Marilyn, your compassion for the people you help is certainly evident.  It sounds like you did the right thing for Ruth.

Janet, I certainly agree with you that friends are so important and I believe they are something we come to appreciate the longer we live, at least this has been my situation.  I guess that is why I enjoy my morning coffee group so much as well as all the times we do things with church and other friends and especially the special friendship bond I feel with the man with whom I share the joy of computers.  We always have lots to talk about.

Etta Sue, glad your computer is quieter and also that you got your furnace to work better.  When you get so much done in one day you have all the other days of the week available to do what you really want to do.

Guess I had better get busy on some of my projects.  I have to order some flowers for the funeral of the husband of one of my first cousins.  He was 25 years older than she is and has been in the nursing home since August.  They live in Iowa so we are not going to be able to go to the funeral.

karmat

Shutterbugmom, That is indeed frustrating.  I think, overall, it is a lack of what the copyright actually means.  A lot of people view those of us that depend on copyright protection as somekind of overzealous nut trying to be stingy.  It's not that at all.  By them printing your poster, not only did they make it look bad, but they devalued the actual picture by making it more readily available than it intended to be.  yes, you have grounds for legal action, but as a Christian, that is a tight spot to be in.  I'm going to pray that God will help you resolve the issue, or at least have the peace to know that He is in control.

Along those lines, when our church started (before Bernard and I got there), there approach to songbooks was to just copy what they needed and put them in a binder.  One person actually thought it was okay as long as they left the copyright symbol showing.  A few weeks ago, it started really bugging Bernard and the Pastor (not the original one, but a new one, who was aware of the infringements, and that we were breaking the law), and as choir director, I was also feeling convicted.  So, this past week or so, they were destroyed.  some of the choir members were a bit "put out" but I explained it to them like this.  How would they feel if another local church bought our cookbook, one copy, (the pride and joy of some of the ladies), and cookbooks from other churches, then copied what they wanted for a singular cookbook to pass out to their congregation instead of purchasing them individually?  That is exactly what we were doing.  So, now, we are in the process of *legally* replacing our music.  :)  For now, we just sing out of the hymnal (which isn't all bad. )

The interesting thing, though, is that the first choir practice after the "burning," was *fun* for the first time in a long time.  People were relaxed and laughing and willing to try new things.  I think it was breaking that "hold" that had us, even though we didn't realize it was there.  My lesson learned?  Even if we don't realize the weight that sin puts on us, it is there and until we search our life and seek forgiveness for it, our fellowship with our Father cannot be as pure and whole as He would like it to be.

So far, no snow or ice.  Just gray skies and cold temperatures.  It's about time for me to go put wood in the stove though (in case the power goes out, I won't have to try to build a fire).

Laters, and take care!

It is about zero degrees here this morning and snow is expected later.  We have to leave for Texas on Saturday morning - Don told me not to worry...

Shutterbug Mom:  Well, now - taking your property just isn't right.  We are brought up to be kind and generous and people do take advantage.  I have no idea but what came to my mind is that you execute a firm letter of warning to the person or group taking your property.  That is just to let people know what is expected in future - a shot across the bow so to speak.  If you can find and use something that will prevent their copying, then, by all means try that system.  It is certainly a matter of ethics and they are wrong in their actions.

February 1st!!!  Can you believe it??

Karma ~ My church started out using hymnals and the over head screen...those were mostly contemporary songs.  But all the overheads had the copywrite numbers on them.  And we could only record the sermons for the cassette tapes and CD's.  Then the church paid for the rights to use copywritten songs and to record the audio of the songs.  Now we don't use hymnals at all.  And when one wants a cassette or CD, they get the whole service!  Really nice.

Samantha ~ I sure hope you find an answer to your delimma.  You are a professional in your photography and you could make lots of money selling your photographs but not if people out there copy them and take the clarity out of them.  Pray for what you should do to protect your rights.

Larry ~ The weather men were predicting a big snowfall last night.  I did notice it was very light all night...full moon.  But no snow.  Why do they yell wolf all the time and then it doesn't show up?  When we do get a big snowfall, we won't be prepared for it.  Someone around here said the Farmer's Almanac says we are to have another '78 Blizzard.  That one was terrible.  No lights, no heat for 3-4 days for some people.  20 foot snow drifts!!  That started January 26, 1978.

Janet ~ I can see in my mind's eye how happy Beth is to see Mieka!  Takes her mind off her own health.  Hope the quarterly meeting goes well.  I remember those for Mom but they were monthly meetings.

Jeannine ~ Here's praying that you husband's tests are not as bad as first thought.  God bless you all.

Well, today my fireplace is loud again.  So I let Kitty know in an email that if Bob felt the need to tinker with something to come on over and tinker with my fireplace.  Maybe two heads will be better than one...or none!

It is cold...23°F but no new snow! No sunshine today so the solar heat isn't running!

Karma, interesting about the songs and the copying of them.  I remember we paid to use a lot of choruses we used to sing.  Funny side note:  along about that same time there was talk of making everybody who sang "Happy Birthday" pay royalties to the family of the person who wrote it!     I think that would be a hard assignment, to collect those royalties!  Glad you are feeling more freedom in your worship now that the issue has been resolved.

Larry, glad you didn't get too much ice there!  And glad you can stay in for the remainder of the day.

Etta Sue, sorry your fireplace decided to talk to you again.  It sounds like there my be something loose in there.  (A mechanic, I'm not!)

Beth's care plan went well.  She had no complaints this time, to speak of.  They do want a copy of her Advanced Directives for Health Care and a Power of Attorney for their files.  She did the first, but I am not sure about the last.  Will have to get into the files upstairs and check it out.

I need to make a couple of calls and be ready for my gals.  Have a great afternoon, everybody.

RE:  music in the church.  You can buy a license that will allow you to reproduce songs for congregational singing (like the overheads and stuff), but not for choral music.  For us, it just isn't practical to pay for that license, when very little of our singing is congregational.  Etta, there are some churches that televise their services, but they can't air the music part because of copyright stuff.  Glad your church is doing it the "right" way.

Have a good afternoon, Janet.

Okay, my FedEx tracker is showing my laptop delivered.  Unfortunately, it is not at my house so now I am beginning the adventure of figuring out which neighbor it was left with.

:)

Well hello everybody,
it's me, the new guy from San Diego. I hope everyone is well. I'll be spending some time trying to read past posts to become as current as possible. If I miss anything I'm sorry. I posted my testimony in our testimony area as asked by many. Thank you for asking and I apologize now for the lengthy story. I hope to be able to contribute in some way or manner here. I'm going to be busy personally with a big military project I've been working on for over a year now so forgive me if I don't answer in a timely fashion.

It figures I'd find a nice place like this to hang my camera when things speed up around me. In case you don't know I'm what you might call a "Pro" and not because of the quality of my work but ONLY because I found someone out there to actually pay me to have fun. I shoot for a local paper and have an account with Northrop Grumand. I shoot their motorcross club when they go out and ride. I shoot portraits, kids stuff and this year I'll actually be doing weddings for the first time. Yikes!!! I've been shooting military and law enforcement for quite some time and eventually panned over to other genres. I love what I do and I love it even more now because of my new shooting partner. By the way Jesus shoots Nikon or atleast when he's with me he does. Hahaha (testing the humor level here) Hope to be able to chat with everyone here.

Good morning!  We had snow warnings last night, but, not a flake this morning, which is okay, but it is really cold!

God bless you all today, tonight?

Anybody hungry?  Here's some meat from Mark 4...

Jesus went on: "Does anyone bring a lamp home and put it under a washtub or beneath the bed? Don't you put it up on a table or on the mantel?  We're not keeping secrets, we're telling them; we're not hiding things, we're bringing them out into the open.

Are you listening to this? Really listening?"

Hello new guy from San Diego.  I saw your "military project" and wondered if you knew jt6agent from dpc.  I reckon you do.  ahahhahahaha  welcome to CP..  At one time I was really active here, then life intervened, but I'm trying really hard to "come back."  It's a nice place to "chill" and relax and "fellowship."

Oh, and Nick, Jesus just wants you think He shoots nikon.  :)

I read your testimony, and left a comment there.  Thank you for sharing.  It gives me hope for some of my buddies at dpc that hate vehemently what I love dearly.

Hi, Mil-spec! It's good to see you here. Keep on coming and posting. We love all our members, and especially welcome those who haven't been with us a while and our newbies.  :)

Janet, I keep intending to ask you to let Beth know we love her and miss her here on CP. She's a very special person.

Also, if any of you speak with Mieka, please let her know how much I miss her. I cherish the memories of the honest, heartfelt questions she asked and her staunch faith during the very difficult times she's had to endure.

Well, it was a very busy day at work, and I'm awfully tired again. Will probably cover up my head and wish the world a good evening very soon.

G'nite, all.

I have spent a little time reading so now I will say hello everyone.

This afternoon a terrible accident on our Hwy 401 east of Toronto, 5 passed away 10 I think in hospital,  It was a blinding snow storm on a terrible stretch of hwy. involving 3 transport trucks one of which was gas, and many other small vehicles. the hwy as I understand from the TV will be closed untill tomorrow morning.

Although on the cool side it was sunny all day and guess what tomorrow in ground hog day.   Will he see his shadow that is something we must wait to find out.

I have tomorrow off work so that means a 3 day week-end.

;) Good day to all.  I am sory that I have not been on the site but we have been running around to many different things that are going on in our life.   Agin I thought that when you retire that things get a lot quieter but that is not true,.

My niece is doing very well and getting stronger each day.  Praise the Lord for all your prayers and her parents thank you again.

I ask for your prayers for my wife and my self as Noreen still has some very bad days with her back, and I found out two weeks ago that I may have a bulging disc, I am waiting to have a cat scan but the Lord is so good and he never lets us down and he cotinues to give us strength each day.

IN HIS GRIP

Sinking in the pit of the deepest despair
No one to love me and no one to care
In the valley of my depression in the blackness like night
With no rays of sunshine to make my world bright

Desolate and shipwrecked on life's ocean shore
The waves of its ebbing I could not take any more
With one more angry billow into its depth I would slip
But the Master of the waves came and caught me in His grip

And His voice calmed the waters of the white crested foam
Whispering to me; I have come to navigate your way home
Fear not the storm or the angry restless sea
But hold unto my hand and put your trust in me

Blessed scarred hand I grasped it so glad
Tried to hold on to it with all the strength that I had
Yet feeble was I and my fingers would slip
But He lifted me up because I was held in His grip

Precious dear hand that was fixed to the tree
My sins had nailed it there; yet He still offered it to me
I caused His back to be torn by the lashing of whip
Yet He loved me so dearly to want to hold me in His grip

And oh so amazing; it's wondrous I know
Held forever by His grip which will never let go
So mystifying; so puzzling; so hard to understand
That a sinner like me is gripped by God's mighty hand

And when stilled breath releases me to go
There is reassurance in this one thing that I know
When into eternity my soul shall silently slip
He will carry me Home because I am held in His grip

Hi everyone and a special welcome to Mike.  We are always happy to have new folks who stop by and share with us in this discussion area.

It will be overcast here all day but it has warmed up from yesterday.  All of the ice is gone.  I have a quiet day planned again although have somewhere to go this evening for a little while.

Karmat, in our church we have a license to use the various hymns and our choir has quite a catalog of printed choral music from the publishers that has been accumulated over the 30 years our church has existed.

Etta Sue, hope the problem with your electric fireplace can be fixed.  You really haven't had that very long.  Sure hope you don't get a big snow storm.

Janet, we used to have care meetings for my folks when they were in the nursing home.  Those are a good idea.  Glad there was nothing serious this time.

Carol, that is too cold for me.  BRRR!

Gord, sorry to hear that you also may have back problems as well as your wife having them.

Kevin, Ruth Ann, Jane, Jeannine, Sarah, Colin and Ruth--glad to see you all posting.

If you want to change it at dpc, just let us know. :)  As far as sharing pictures, I'm sure Pat or someone can explain it better than I.  It is one of those things I can do, but can't explain it well enough to someone else.

The "storm" completely missed us.  It snowed for about thirty minutes, and we got about a quarter of an inch, then turned to rain and disappeared.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

My church was planning a SuperBowl celebration (GO COLTS!!) where you could come to church and watch the SuperBowl game, play cards if you didn't like football, and share in the snacks that everyone would bring.  The game would be shown on two overhead screens...actually painted walls...in the CLC..Christian Living Center...actually a gym with a full size basketball court and stage off to the side.  Then it was announced that it was cancelled due to so many having their own SuperBowl party in their homes with friends.  Then last night on the local news a Baptist church in Indy was told if they showed the game at their church it was illegal and they would be fined.  1) Not in a private home or private area 2) The size of the screen is too big...not allowed legally over 52" screen.  All due to SuperBowl trademark and not having permission to view the game in large gatherings and on big screen overhead projections!  How does the sports bars get by with it?  Wow!

Janet ~ Have you noticed that restaurants do not sing 'Happy Birthday' to their customers anymore?  They sing a different ditty to celebrate the birthdays.

Karma ~ Sure hope you find your laptop.  You would think that delivering something that costly, that a person would have to sign for it.  Remember those days when nothing by FedEx or UPS was delivered without a signature?

Nick ~ I belong to Kilbuck Photo Guild and the Nikon people are always putting down the Canon people and vice versa.  All in fun, though.  Welcome to the site, Nick!

Kevin ~ Sounds like the weathermen in Japan learned from the weathermen in the U.S.  Predictions don't come true.  Some I prefer they not come true!

Ruth Ann ~ Your post was just what I would like to say.  You said it so eloquently.  God Bless You in All You Do.

Ruth ~ I remember reading where Pat had a hard time fighting the storm to get home.  How terrible for those who lost their lives and those who are in the hospital.  And the ground hog is seeing his shadow in central Indiana!

Gord Brown ~ Back problems are no fun!  I am still having problems but Naproxen and walking is sure helping me.  But I also do not have a bulging disc so do what your doctor advises.

Jeannine ~ I am praying, too, that the PET/CT scan is much better news that it might be.  God does heal and we are praying that God gave your DH His healing powers.

Jane ~ What a beautiful message for Jeannine and her DH.  I thank you for that.

Carol ~ It is a cold 16°F here right now with a big bright sun shining down on Central Indiana.

Sarah!!! ~ Glad to see you pop in!  I remember when your nephew was born.  Has it been 4 years now?  And I understand...4, going on 14, right?

Colin ~ What a wonderful, heartfelt poem...IN HIS GRIP.  I would love to send it to my sister-in-law who suffers from depression but I really don't think she would think it be for her!  She is the one that has all kinds of illnesses...one at a time.  But never anything life-threatening and never any that keeps her from doing what SHE wants to do.  She is married to my brother (52 years in May) and Ivalou and I are going to see them in Florida later this month.

Larry ~ I am thinking if the fireplace gets louder, I will have to go to Lowe's to see if they have anyone that will work on it.  Otherwise, I need a new insert!  A must for me!  Solar heat just turned on...sunny outside...so that helps the gas bill.

Tonight I will be going to Tony and Charlene's.  Then we will be eating out to celebrate his birthday which was the 30th.  Charlene's daughter, Audrey, and grandson, Donovan may go with us.  I do want to see Audrey's new house that they just moved into.  Her hubby, Vince, is back at Groton, Conneticut.  He's in the Navy until April.

Etta, the radio station here has been offering "championship game packs" for Christians to use as a witnessing tool.  they don't use the words "SuperBowl" either.  I suspect the sports bar either pays a licensing fee (kinda like the music discussions) or uses smaller tvs.   there was a church here that got warned pretty heavily a while back for having a public viewing of the Passion of the Christ.  They did not have permission to show it in a "public" situation.  I don't think they were fined or anything, but it was an eye opener.

I did get the laptop.  FedEx doesn't deliver to this area much, so I figured their GPS or navigation system shows the end of our road being at our mailbox.  Sure enough, they had left our "signature required" package at our neighbor's house, with a sticker sayign they didn't get a sig because no one was there.  go figure.  But, I have my laptop now.  (Good thing I have honest neighbors).

Colin

Thank you Etta Sue...that sounds like the start of a poem! Glad you liked the poem.

Jesus I know exhalts the humble so I suppose He helps me to use my poor littlle camera mobile phone to take photos with. And you know...Him and me get on great with it!

Take care everyone.

Wonderful poem Colin.

Karma good to hear you got your laptop. My Fedex man usually leaves my stuff next door. Lately he has been putting it on my back porch and I have trouble opening the back door. Have had to go around the house once to move the box.

That business about not allowing churches to show the super bowl game is a real shocker  :o to me!!  How selfish and petty of "the powers that be" who control such things.  That's my opinion, anyway.

Etta Sue, do you mean like "Happy happy birthday, From all of us to you.  We wish it was our birthday, So we could party too.....YEAH!!"   :)  He he he.  I think that's Applebees' version.  It had never occurred to me that the copyright thing might be the reason for the different versions, though.  But you're probably right.  What a litigious society we have become.  :(

Welcome to Mike!!!  Glad to have you with us, and looking forward to seeing your photos, even if they are from a Nikon!  ;)  I use a Kodak. But for sure I am not a professional, either.

Ruth, what an awful accident.  I'm glad Pat isn't still driving to and from Toronto to the dentist!

I have been to Pat's for her to do my hair, so I'm all ready for the weekend.

Colin, very nice poem.  All of your poems I have read are great, and God has surely blessed you with a special talent.

It has warmed up to 5 degrees here, or that's what it was when I came home a few minutes ago. BRRRRR!!!

Hi, friends,

I just got in from a neurologist appointment - am facing carpal tunnel surgery on both wrists. He says the condition has gone on too long, and that now the nerve leading to the hand (which is numb past the wrist on both hands) is endangered of dying and then I'll completely lose the use of my hands.

So, it's certainly not the huge challenges some of us have faced here at CP, it's a matter of concern, and if you think of me, please include me in your prayers.

Colin, I've dealt with depression problems, and truly can testify that God is in the process of working me through some pretty hard times in the last 2-3 years. Thank you for that beautiful poem.

Jeannine, any news yet?

Y'all have a good evening.

Hi Everyone!

And a great big :welcome: to you Nick!  I'm so happy to see you in here and yes, we'll definitely understand if you're busy with a project that you might not be around, etc.

My husband used to be a photographer many years ago in Northern Ireland for the Royal Ulster Constabulary.  He did enjoy that part of his job most of the time but then there were other times....

I'm going to go and read your testimony very soon.

Well, folks, what a week!  Got the car, arranged the money to pay for it and then all sorts of other bills came in!

Haven't figured out everything yet but wow!  Talk about depressing!

Loved your poem, Colin!

I'll be back soon.  Going to go and read Nick's testimony.

Awww...  Janet, I knew what you meant.  My goodness how in the world would you even remember "London" when you are way down and out in Kansas!?

Yes, it's bad on the highway up here but they do look after things nicely.

The final death toll from yesterday was 2 and many injured.  At first they said 5 dead but they couldn't get near to some of the vehicles due to the intense heat from the exploding gasoline so it's actually a miracle that only two were killed.

Good Evening from a chilly island.  No rain today....possible snow tomorrow.  Poor little flowers that are trying to start are in for a shock.  So terrible about what has happened in Florida.  We are very fortunate in our snug homes, warm and safe.

Some folks are facing serious problems here on both the island and mainland.  Owners of trailer parks are selling the lands in two parks and evicting families and elderly folks who have everything invested in their homes and not able to move them.  It seems they were promised years ago that this would never happen.  Land has become so expensive that anything goes now....

Found all the talk about copy rights very interesting.  My goodness, things have become so complicated now.  Colin is very generous to allow his poems to be used so freely.  That was a nice poem, Colin.

I read Mikes's testimony and it was most moving.  Wonderful how God works.  No matter what lies ahead for our world, God is very much in control.

Someone was writing about libraries the other day.  I am an avid reader and get most of my books from the library.  Read this little poem and it does not have a (c) so will post it.  The poem is by a 92 yr. old man.

The wisdom of the ages
Is there for you and me,
The wisdom of the ages,
In your local library.

There's large print books
And talking books,
For those who cannot see,
The wisdom of the ages,
It's fantastic and it's free.

                        :)

I have to use the large print books now as my vision is rather dim.  So really appreciate all that is offered.  Hope that something more can be done in the near future....will have to trust and wait.  We wait alot for anything medical in BC.

Have prayed for different folks and enjoy all the posts.  Your car is cute, Pat and I also like the color.  Hope it protects and serves well in years ahead.

Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.

Thanks Liz...

I'm enjoying driving it.  I'm being very careful though not to use gas unnecessarily.

Good Morning All,

Just  caught up on the posts, wow.

RuthAnn ~ carpal tunnel surgery isn't too bad. I had it done on my right hand 7 yrs ago, it works fine. once in a while it gets a little numb but apparently now that is because of my shoulder.

Nick ~ that was certainly powerful!

Ok, the news you're waiting for. Thank you for the prayers, the cancer has not spread to the lungs. It is localized to the right side of the neck. He has decided surgery is the better option so it is scheduled for Feb. 19. I won't tell you all involved, but it will take 8 - 10 hours to do. Then to ICU for a few days with a temporary trach, then to the floor. He will be in for 7 - 10 days.

Thank you all for being patient and for your prayers. I know my Savior is always with me and will comfort me when I am scared. It's just really hard sometimes to just give everything over to Him and try not to worry. Just being human i guess. But thank you all and God Bless each and every one of you. <3

Colin ~ Thanks for the poem, it helped!

May you all have a God filled and Blessed day!!!

Jeannine...  I'm so sorry about what you are going through.  It's natural to be scared.  It's so good that it hasn't spread to his lungs!  That certainly is good news.

Please know that I'll be praying for you during that time!

Good Morning. Jeannine I am also praying here in Northern California.

I have my stuff packed up that I am taking to the Health Fair, I have anointed and prayed over everything and asked God for His blessing  on the products that I will be gifting to people, as well as on me and what I say to people; I also  prayed for the people I will meet today. I am taking a few things to  sell but mostly I will be giving it away. The product will sell itself. I am so excited to get out there in the public and help others toward better health.

I am having a Lean Cuisine Cheese Ravioli dinner for my breakfast, only 240 calories., and a piece of Dark Rye bread.

Well I gotta go and get myself read to go.

Liz, I'm so sorry your eyesight is growing dim, and hope you can find help for it.  Do they say it is macular degeneration, or what is the problem?  My mom has that problem, and even though the Reliv is helping, she is still fearful of becoming totally blind.

I love poetry, too.  That's so sad about the land being sold from under people's homes like that.  I truly believe that GREED is the cause of most of the trouble in this old world.

Jeannine, I am so glad that cancer hasn't spread to your husband's lungs.  Prayers for you, him, and Michael continue...........  Stand strong, Jesus will hold you.  But also, it is very human to feel afraid in these testing times, and it's good you can come here and talk to us, and ask for our prayers.

Pat, have you checked yet into the cost of obtaining a passport?  Will you please let me know, when you find out?  Thanks.  <3

The devastation in Florida is heartbreaking.  So much trouble all around us these days.  Like Liz, I am so thankful for a snug, warm house.  Especially this morning, when our temp was -6 degrees!

I decided to try my hand at card making last night, and made a Valentine for my friend Pat, who does my hair.  It turned out pretty nice.  I have so much scrapbooking stuff, and that is also used for cards.  My main problem is that it takes me much too long to make a card! :-\

Hello to all who check in today, and also to those who cannot.  I wish you all a wonderful day!

Good morning to all  Well we are getting a very heavy snow storm and I would say that I have a at least 4to 6 inches on the drivway and if I had not cleaned it yesterday it would be a lot more.

Jeannine.  We will be remembering you in prayer  and also I know that the Lord will see you through this.  Tell Michael that when I hear music  I think of him and I pray that the Lord will keep him strong.

Marilyn.  I do hope that you will have a successful day today with you product and God will richly bless you for giving things away.

Janet.  I do hope that your new card making will go well.

Pat.  Hope that all is well and it sounds that you are enjoying your new car.

May you all have a awesome day with Gods family tomorrowand God Richly bless you all Gord.

Colin.  Almost forgot you.   Your poems are wonderful keep then coming. <3

Hello all!Just breezing throught to say HI!  Trav had a basketball game, adn I didn't think Kristi was playing much attention, until we got home.  Then, she started running back and forth through the house saying, "Brother, this."  Then, she got a basketball and would try to dribble it and then throw it like she was shooting.  Quite cute, if I do say so myself. :)

Hope everyone has a good day.

I have read all the posts and failed to make notes.  But I also prayed when prayers were asked and sometimes when they weren't asked.

It was fun with Tony and Charlene, Audrey and Donovan last evening.  Donovan was in diapers the last time I saw him.  He was an exceptionally good boy last night.  He even blew me a good bye kiss!

Brrrr!  Another cold day in central Indiana.  11°F isn't as low as it has been but the wind is terrible today!  Chill factor is 0°F with wind gusts to 32 mph.  Brrrr!  But it is partly sunny and my solar heat just came on.  Maybe I need to move my computer to the dining room where the solar heat comes into the house.... ???

I have been busy catching up on those little jobs that needed done. Made several phone calls and now I have quiet time for reading & reflection.

Hi everyone.  There are so many postings since I was last here that I am not going to try to address eveyone.  However, I have read of the concerns, the news on medical situations and other situations.

I have had a nice day as picked up our daughter at the subway station at 9 am and took her to a chiropractor appointment as her feet and legs have been numb from the knees down for several days.  The treatment helps restore some feeling.  We then did something together and came home for lunch.  I then took her back to the subway so she could get to her apartment and rest a bit this afternoon.  She starts her new job at the IRS on Monday and I know she is excited about it.

It is a beautiful sunny but chilly day here in Georgia.  The wind was pretty brisk this morning but seems to have died down.  We are in for the rest of the day.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I thoroughly enjoyed being with my brother and sister in law from Ohio, their daughter and family (including that darling little newborn baby who slept peacefully during the entire time we were eating), and my son who lives with me was feeling well enough to join me. Before they got here, they were talking about how long since they had seen my son, I believe the concensus was at my dad's funeral in 1995. So, a good time was had by all.

Jeannine, thanks for the reassurance about the carpal tunnel surgery. The doctor says it's work related, so I'm to contact my boss about it on Monday morning. Then, we'll go from there.

Also, jeannine, I'm so thankful the cancer hasn't spread any further. We'll certainly be praying before, during, and after his surgery. Be sure to let us know the date and time, so we'll be prepared to spend that time in prayer.

I so rarely include everyone, but y'all DO know, I hope, that I love each of you and am reading along and keeping up each day.

Have a good rest of the day.

Not sure yet, Ruth.  I'm sure it will be more than the last car as it's a little larger and heavier.  But only filled the tank so will check.

Ruth Ann ~ didn't know some would want to know the date of surgery. It'll be February 19, since it will take so long he will probably be the first case of the day.

Marilyn ~ so glad you had fun. :)

Hello to everyone else, don't think I've ever met a finer group of people! You are all in my prayers each and everyday. Thank You for being here!

Hi everyone.

I am up and ready for church.  I have to go early this morning as once a year we have senior Sunday and that is next week.  Those 50 and over who want to sing are asked to attend two special choir practices and then the seniors fill the choir loft on senior Sunday.  This is the first week of practice at 10 am in advance of the regular choir practice.  Think Pat and I will both drive as she doesn't like to go that early unless she is going to Sunday School.  We have a guest minister from the seminary in Decatur, GA, who will be preaching this morning as a followup to our renewal services.

Jeannine, I know that the next days leading up to the 19th will be very stressful.  Sure was glad to hear the cancer had not spread.

Marilyn, if your postings drop off here we will all know that you have become involved with the games-I understand they can be quick addictive.  :)  Of course, I expect you will have a long time before you would be able to compete with those grandchildren.  I don't care for games that are time controlled.  Hope you have had a great time with your grandchildren and glad that your health fair was so enjoyable.

Ruth Ann, will you have both wrists operated on at once or just one at a time?  Glad you had such a nice time with your family and that your son was well enough to dine with you all.

Sarah, that sounds like a really large number of pizzas to make plus what you will have from your regular daily business.  You are certainly one busy young lady.

Pat, I doubt that you will see too much difference in your gas mileage.  Is your vehicle a 4 or 6 cylinder?  Our Saturn is a 6 cylinder.

Hi Gord, Karen, and all those who visit here today.

Marilyn

Good Morning I am coming in to post now while I have the opportunity.  Things will be hectic once the kids wake up. They are going to church with me this morning so they need to be up dressed, fed and ready to go by 9am.

I doubt that I will be playing with the Nintendo games. I don't like them and I don't have the time to be fooling around trying to learn how to play them.  My life is already busy.

Yesterday in the Mall we were right next to  one of the College nursing programs who were doing blood pressures For the first time in my life mine was high. They took it at two different times and both times it was high. I will have to look into that.

Every time one of the kids moves Bebe barks or growls. Then she goes over to look at them. Silly dog. She gets real nervous when ANYONE is here.

It's a four cylinder, Larry so hopefully it won't be too hard but it is larger.

Thanks for letting us know the date.

Well, it is still biting cold here....8°F now and colder earlier in the day.  And the wind is fierce.  Makes it feel like your face is freezing!!!  Sure wouldn't want to be out walking today for any reason.

Church was awesome.  The Teen Minister mentioned something that I truly feel.  When you are around Christians, YOU like yourself!  Yow, when I am reading posts on CP, I like myself!  Makes me feel warm and fuzzy!

After church I had a grilled chicken salad.  I couldn't eat even half of it so I asked for a To-Go box.  Guess what?  I forgot it!!  And it was sooooo good!

Then it went to WalMart again for some more food that I can eat on Phase One of the South Beach Diet.  One more week and I can add some foods!  Will let you know how much weight I have lost.  I know I have lost!

Etta Sue, I love that kitty looking out between the blind slats--cool!  Glad you are losing weight, too.  I will really have to be mindful of the snacking at my art class this week.  I'm making brownies today to take to share, but want to get fruit, so I can have something better for me.

Larry, I know your senior choir will sound great!

We also had wonderful services today.  Pastor spoke on "being a transformer, not a conformer" and how easily we can become conformed to the world if we don't stay on guard and close to the Lord.  I heard some very troubling statistics today on one of the Christian TV shows I watch each Sunday.  He said that in the USA now, there are more couples living together who are NOT married, than there are who ARE married.  Just one of the ways people are being conformed to this world.  :(

Darrel is practicing his piece for the week--Crazy Arms.  Sounds good!  Still a bit tentative, but I can tell what he's playing.  His confidence will grow as he practices more and more.

How many of you are watching the Super Bowl today??  GO COLTS!!  (That was for you, Etta Sue!)   ;)

Gord, thanks---I was the one wanting to know the cost of a Canadian passport.  I appreciate your answer.  Pat needs to get one, so she can come to Kansas!

See y'all later!

And for those two or three who actually LOOK, I have put more photos in my album.  Thanks.

<3 Good afternoon to all.  We had a great morning at our service today. Our pastors are doing a series on Extreme Makeover and they have been so good.  Today ha used Romans 8  and he also used some articles showing the wrong things that we use in our life and also he had a table set up with the thigs that could represent the Holy Spirit so it made his sermon excellent.

Our Weather is very cold and the wind is making it even worse but thanks to the Lord we have heat and a roof over our head.

We should remember to be praying for all those efected by the problems in Florida and those who have major damages.

I forgot to tell you that once a month at our church we have what they call looninie lunches and for those of you who are not from Canada thats lunch for $1-00 and the couples that do this do it for free and one of them are farmers and it is always so good.

Have a great week talk to you all soon.  Gord.

Pat, I really like having the continuous conversation going for a week at a time. I seemto be able to much better keep up with matters now.

Thanks, Larry. I'll be having one hand at a time done, but since it must go through workers compensation, I don't know what's ahead. Guess I'll get started with the process tomorrow morning when I write my boss in Cleveland about the diagnosis.

It was snowy this morning with the streets also covered with snow. Since so many of our church members are qite elderly, the pastor called off services. I really needed the rest, so after devotions, laid back down to rest, and immediately fell asleep. So, am thankful for the time with the Lord and also the blessed rest He provided today.

Y'all have a good evening.

That was a good game!!  And having two Christian coaches, neither of whom ever raises his voice to his players was certainly refreshing.  I'm glad the Colts won, even though I think Grossman is a nice young man.  But since he is so young, he will likely have a chance to play in another Super Bowl.  Manning seems like a very calm and likable young man.  My opinion of the half-time show?  BLEAUGHHHH!! :P :uglystupid:

Anyway, I enjoyed watching the game with my sweet husband.  See you tomorrow evening.
