It's good to know that God knows!

    :) From Our Forums

    • Prayer and Praise     Thanks for visiting this area of our site to share prayer requests and items for praise!

    Morning Devotional...

Psalm 17:1.  "Hear a just cause, O Lord, attend to my cry; give ear to my prayer which is not from deceitful lips."

Even though He is one of God's special people, the psalmist has been accused of lying - of presenting himself as righteous before God when he actually is not.  But he knows that God knows.  He knows that God is fully aware of his innermost thoughts, and he can therefore confidently present his own case.  So he confidently prays, "I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God."

He continues by confessing that God always saves those He loves and those who trust Him.  With this in mind, he tells God his need:  his enemies are oppressing him ruthlessly,  they refuse to listen to righteous cries for help, and  they speak as if they could do to him whatever they wished.

He prays for God's righteous confrontation of these enemies and he reminds God that they are only concerned for this present life and not for Him and His eternity.

Finally - and most significantly - he confesses his ultimate trust in his covenant God.  In fact, in great confidence he says, "As for me (as opposed to those enemies), I will see Your face in righteousness; I will be satisfied when I awake (in eternity) in Your likeness."

How about you?  Are there people who oppose your Christian life and want to see you discredited?  You need to be reminded  that God knows all about it - and about them and about you.  And, finally, you need to be reminded that the righteousness you desire will one day be yours - for ever and ever!  May you unceasingly give thanks to your Savior!!

    Because He Lives
    (Click to hear music)

Words and music by William J. Gaither
    copyright 1971

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
Come, see the place where the Lord lay."
    Matthew 28:6

    God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
    He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
    Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
    Just because He lives!

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
    And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
    Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
    Just because He lives!

And then one day, I'll cross the river,
    I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to vict'ry,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives!

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
    Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
    Just because He lives!

Hi everyone.  I have a few minutes before leaving for coffee so will post.

We had some really nice rain yesterday and. as I expected when I posted yesterday, it was a nice quiet day.  Our church service lasted about 20 minutes longer than normal and we didn't get home from lunch until about 2:30.  Last week was Bible school and they had 160 kids.  The youth minister had challenged the kids that if they could raise $1,000 for three missionary projects that he would dress up as a cheerleader and lead cheers.  They did (over $1,600) and he did.  They showed a video of it during the children's time and he actually made a pretty good cheerleader.  He then preached a very good sermon.

Etta Sue, sure glad the postal person was found OK.  It sounds like he crashed and couldn't deal with the pressures.

JudyB, glad the little lambs were safe and sound.  It was nice of your family to help out.

Janet, sounds like you all had a wonderful day with family.  I remember when Curtis left for basic training but also when Abby was much younger.  The time just goes by too quickly.  Hope you are feeling better.

Al, your home is always a good resource if you ever needed to draw upon it so you just changed your type of investment.  In the past, with the appreciation in home values homes usually are worth more later than you paid.  Not sure that is the case on manufacturered homes.  Thanks for the devotional for this week.

Good morning Don, Pat and all who visit with us today.

Marilyn, it sounds like your pastor may have had a kidney stone attack.  Hope it is over by now as know the pain is very severe.

Jane, making decisions is often difficult for people.  Guess it is just wait and see.

    Pat

Al, thanks for that wonderful devotion today to start us off this week.  I so appreciate it.  He's blessed my heart.

    happy monday all!

Bible school is over, and I definitely enjoyed teaching a class more than leading the music.  Kinda odd since I majored in music in college, but oh well.  Fortunately, the lady that did the music loved that roll and wants it again next year.  YEAH!  That means I get to teach again. :)  (And she did a much better job than me, anyway!)

I think I'm going to start deleting emails that have more than one foward shown immediately.  How many times can a person get the same snoped debunked urban legend in the mail, anyway?  I say that with a smile, but it can be annoying.

I'm going to go do some "house" stuff.  Later

    Etta Sue

    Good morning!!

    Happy Belated Birthday to Judy!!

Karma ~ I don't forward back or reply to any emails that tells me I will have good or bad luck if I do or don't send the message to 7, 10 or more people.  That's a chain letter!!  I sometimes like reading the message but that is as far as they go for me.  And when I open attachments and finally learn that I have seen this one before, then it is deleted right then!  And I detest the petitions that when they reach 200 or more signatures and are to be sent to president@whitehouse.gov.  How easy that would be to email the president of the United States with that email address?  No way!

The mystery goes on and on about the postman.  I just can't imagine him wanting to abandon his family and his job for any reason whatsoever.  Just happy that he is safe but now he has to suffer the consequences and in my thinking, that will be worse than his personal problems could ever be.

I think I will go to Kitty's this afternoon to help her on her entry to the State Fair in the Photography division.  She keeps saying her 'Marilyn Monroe' photo and I don't remember seeing it before.

Tomorrow is a blood draw and then a teeth whitening.  My dentist is moving to a different office and those who are going with him gets a free teeth whitening.  Fact is, he is closer now to me than he was.

Then Ivalou is having Euchre at her home at noon.  I will probably be late but since I hope to find something to eat between the blood draw and the dentist, I won't need anything to eat at her house until later.  So she is going to tell them to eat and when I get there we can start playing cards.

    Time to move on....

Good Morning not much new here today so far anyway. It was foggy when I went out to curves and the sun is out now. Looks to be another hot one. Of course HOT to us here ont he west coast could be just  70°. 8)

I read an interesting commentary on Psalm 27:4 in my Women of Faith NIV this morning.

" One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord  and to seek him in his temple." Psalm 27:4

"Every day we are presented with myriad options for how we will spend our time. and where we will  put our focus. Our  decisions reveal what we most value. As Jesus tells his friend Martha in Luke 10:41-42, there are so many things that demand our attention and energy, and certainly many are important. But "only one thing is needed"--a vital, constant fellowship with the Lord.

David understands this, and it becomes his deepest desire. More than anything else he longs to be conscious of his Father's presence, to worship God's incomparable character, and to be guided moment to moment by his perfect wisdom. Such goals will always be the "one thing" that gives our  lives meaning.

Memorize David's heartfelt words and make them your prayer to the Lord today."

    Good morning everyone!

I'm having my first cup of coffee and I also enjoyed the devotional.  Thanks, Al.

Etta Sue-Yeah!  Praise the Lord your postal worker is safe.

Judy B-Belated Happy Birthday to you!

Karmat-  We are now doing follow up for our VBS and Fun in the Park.  We are taking balloons and pens with our church and contact info. to the families that attended and just telling everyone we are glad they came.  Nothing heavy, just a friendly visit.  Of course, it could turn in to much more, knowing God.  :)  I'm glad you enjoyed teaching.  I enjoy teaching, and taught for many years in VBS but since I started homeschool, I now enjoy the break from it during VBS and my main job is documenting the occasion with my camera and I'm so glad to use my photography for the Lord's work.

The last of our visiting family leaves today and then, it's on to school planning for next year.  This year, I'm not creating all the Science classes, just the electives, so it should be easier.  I went with Dr. Wile's Apologia Science.  I just felt that the Lord was leading us in that direction for this coming year.  Upper high school science is much harder to build and teach from scratch than the elementary and Jr. High was; especially since it wasn't my thing in high school.

It's been really hot here in the mountain states.  Saturday the girls performed with their Irish Dance school and it was 107 degrees.  We won't be doing that.  The shade they promised wasn't there when we arrived.  I think my oldest daughter got mild heat stroke and I went home with a migraine.  Between the heat and the bad air quality from all the smoke in the air from the wildfires, it's just horrible to be outside.  It's even worse to try to exercise in, as you would imagine.  Our air quality is orange right now.  Make for some nice sunsets and moody shots, though.

I've gotten long winded.  If anyone's still reading this, have a great day!  God bless you and you live to serve Him!

Kathleen, I read it to the end and didn't find it long winded!  ;)

It's lovely that you can use your camera for the Lord in that way.  What a great feeling that is to be able to do that.

I have an appointment in awhile and then I have a few errands so I mustn't spend too much time here.

    Have a good day everyone.

We went to the gym & exercised, I did the water aerobics - (yawning now), then finished my ironing before it gets too hot this afternoon.  Don just made a late breakfast.  He has an interview in Denver - he is interviewing people for a job - Don volunteers for a state overseen health insurance.  He has three trips this week just for his volunteer work.

Judy B:  Loved the story about the sheep - another one to remember is never chase geese! Or, turkeys!  Really, don't chase anything.     I love your story because you are so kind to think of the effect of a traumatic end on your children.  We often drive in open-range areas, some people just don't think of what that really means - it means a cow is very likely on the road or perhaps a hundred cows or sheep are on the road - so slow down.  Then, there are always deer, elk and so forth anyway.

Jane:  It always seems as though other people's decisions take longer than usual.

Kathleen:  Sorry about your horrible fires in the area.  It is discouraging to say the least.

I ave been to Curves , came home ate breakfast, and did the dishes. Out again to my Tai Chi class then walked both dog. I am now home again and relaxing for a bit before I get out of this chair to go mow the yards. I am waiting for a friend to call as I am to do some office type stuff for her. I think I have had just about enough exercise for one day, maybe I won't mow today then again maybe I will.

Thank you Al for the lovely devotional this morning.

Hi Carol, Karmat Etta Sue, Pat and Larry.

Sometimes I wonder if  people read what I post, Larry seems to be the only one that comments on them. Or do they just read through so fast and forget what was written.

Etta Sue I see you found your friend Kitty. I read about the mailman and wondered if he was just trying to disappear, or rob a bank since he had a gun and financial problems. So many people are having financial problems lately. Even churches.

Judy I love the story about the sheep and the girls. When I am out walking my dogs it seems like pretty often I am taking a dog back home who has followed us. Or trying to find the home of one I haven't seen before.  Several of my neighbors have Hybrid wolves. Two are very large, one is  about the size of my dogs and looks like a Siberian husky. Happy has been in their yard to play with her.

I have had so many people admire my dogs especially Happy, then they want to know what kind of dog Bebe is. She's an Amstaff and looks like an Amstaff. She gets mistaken for a pit bull all the time. Pit Bull is not a breed. They are Bull Terriers that were bred to go into fighting pits and fight other dogs even bears. But Bebe is a mix not a purebred. An Amstaff is an American bred Staffordshire Bull terrier. (ASBT) Bebe doesn't have the wide head and big mouth of the purebred. Bull Terrier's a good people dogs very
    loving.

    History/Origin:
Recently recognized as a distinct breed, he descends from the fighting pits of England and America. A variety of breeds were used to develop the "Amstaff" including the Bull Terrier, the Old English White Terrier, the Black and Tan, the Bulldog, the Mastiff, the Pointer, the Dalmatian and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. His name was changed from the Staffordshire Terrier to the American Staffordshire Terrier in 1972.

    Hi Marilyn, and everyone!

Yes, I read all posts but don't seem to have time to comment.  Shame on me!  I enjoy reading about everyone's days.  Our computer died about 2 wks ago and since getting a new one, I haven 't had time to get online much.

JudyB,  happy belated birthday, I hope it was all you wanted it to be.

Karma, still looking for a new picture of you with the blonde hair.

    Gotta run, lunch is over

    Later,

Judy B--HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!  And how are the "sheepherders" today?  I had a big grin as I read about all of you trying to chase those woolies off the road.  I hope their owners take responsibility for them in the future.

Marilyn, I always read all the posts, but don't often comment unless there is something that is unusual or really strikes a chord with me.  Sorry.  We all live such divergent lives, with very different interests and tastes.  You love dogs so much, and I cannot even IMAGINE sharing a bed with two huge dogs!! :-\  Different strokes for different folks, one is not better than another, and what a boring world if we were all alike!

I'm glad the mail carrier is safe, and hope he gets his problems sorted out.  He needs God in his life.  I'm not saying he isn't a Christian, but sometimes we forget to ask God to give us wisdom and help with our everyday lives.  Let us know what happens, will you, Etta Sue?

Karma, I'm thinking you are probably an awesome VBS teacher!  Good for you!

    Hi, Samantha!

Carol, we have had so many health problems (nothing really serious) and have really gotten out of the habit of going to exercise.  And I NEED it--I just must get back to it!

Our county fair is this week, and I need to frame some paintings to enter.

Shutterbugmom, I cannot imagine developing a high school science curriculum!  I'm glad the public schools were good when my kids were in school, home schooling sounds like a really daunting task.

Hey, Larry!  Hope you are having a great day today.

Grandson Curtis and his wife, Toni, came up today, and Curtis fixed my computer problems, and then went in and fixed Beth's, too.  Gotta love that guy. <3  They leave for his post in Albuquerque tomorrow.  I did his laundry while he worked on my computer.  What a deal, huh?

I have over-used my hand and arm again today, better get those braces back on and give it a rest.

Thank you for the birthday wishes!  and YES I had a good day.  The girls are fine....though it will be an experience they won't forget.

I have my grandson here for a couple of days.  HE will go home on Thursday.  He is waiting for Gramma to take him out to buy a Bible.  On Sunday he goes to camp and will need a Bible for that.

Al thank you for the devotional.

I have read all the posts, I am not going to comment on them all, just know where there are prayer concerns I am praying.

    God Bless

Lovely day here on the island.  Not too hot, not too cold....just right! (and that is not a fairy tale)

Lots of interesting posts to read today.  Thank you for the great devotional, Al.  I also loved the music.  It has always been one of my favorites and makes me feel real good....

I went into the small city today to pick up a jacket that was purchased and needed the sleeves shortened.  Was a great bargain and much needed to improve my small wardrobe.  Stopped in at the Sr. Centre where I used to carpet bowl and was warmly greeted.  Felt nice!  I am sort of isolated from other seniors now and it is difficult to get into town on the local bus that covers the valley.  Also takes forever, tho' a nice interesting journey.  One of the ladies that is quite kind and I have known for years, was happy about soon coming to my area in Sept. to live. Possibly we can sometimes go into town together.  I am always happy to contribute to cost of gas, etc.  Will have to wait and see how it goes.

Belated Birthday Greetings, Judy B.  I sure enjoyed your tale about the sheep!

Was reading a news report that stated Canada is the largest user of Marijuana, Alcohol use is 30% higher than global use and we are fourth in the use of cocaine.  Sad!  Especially when so much emphasis is placed on stopping smoking of cigarettes, etc. and even more serious matters are ignored.

    Also read this:
Pope Benedict XVI expressed his intolerance of Christian churches that are not Catholic by saying " ... the Catholic Church is the one true church, and other Christian bodies shouldn't be called churches."

It is very difficult to comprehend that such a learned man as Pope Benedict would issue such a statement. The Catholic Church, under the leadership of Pope John Paul II, had shown love and unity to fellow Christians, as it should be, and now Pope Benedict is unraveling that unity.

I am not Catholic but have had many friends who are, as well as family members.  When will Christians learn that no one church has all the answers and respect the right to make a choice in how to serve God?  Guess not in my lifetime.  :(

I certainly agree with the comments about e-mails.  Do not care for the chain letter types.

Time to go and tend to Misty.  She is restless from a hard day of play in the garden.

    Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

    Liz

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

    Ruth Ann Bice

    Hi, friends,

I'm back from the wedding. It was great and God answered so many prayers about long-held "baggage", etc. The happy couple are now honeymooning, then will leave July 30th going to St. Maarten, where he will be in med school and she will be taking her masters degree online.

    Two sweet young folk.

Unfortunately, my son wasn't able to be there, so we all missed him.

Yesterday was a long, long day at work, and I'm going in an hour early today to try to get as much done as possible.

Likely will be taking time off (except for that required morning report), since my son is going to be here in Nashville this week and part of next before heading back home.

Well, must close - y'all have a wonderful day.

I also read all the posts, pray for those with difficulties, and enjoy all the other comments.

Has anyone heard from our member who was to have surgery on the stomach or digestive system? I've worried and prayed and wonder why we haven't heard anything.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

    Etta Sue

Good morning.  I am hydrated and all ready to head to the doctor's office for a blood draw.  Hope they succeed with the first stick!

Then I am off to the dentist for teeth whitening.  Never had that before so that will be a new experience.

Then home and over to Ivalou's to play Euchre.

So it is a busy day.

I was with Kitty yesterday afternoon.  She is going to Ohio today to get her grandson, Alex, then they are going to St. Louis tomorrow...zoo, Grant's Farm, eating on top of a hotel that the restaurant revolves and it is right on the Mississippi and can see the Arch, too.  He is all excited.

I have my photos all ready to take to the State Fair the 28th.  Kitty has one to matte and she is ready.

Gotta run.  Can't keep the doctor waiting....they can keep us waiting but not the other way around.

It is storming outside so I had better get my umbrella also.

Good Morning to everyone!  I got a chuckle out of Karmat's note starting with "Happy Monday"!  Since we don't "work for pay" anymore, it sure is nice to just have more time to tend to our daily duties.

    Marilyn:  Good Morning Buddy!

Liz:  It will be nice for you to have another friend move to your area.  I didn't realize that you were out in a rural area.

Ruth  Ann:  Do hope that your son is recuperating this week from his migraines.  You must have missed him terribly at the wedding.

I am on a mission today to write or call the office of the new Muslim Congressman from Minnesota who just made a speech equating Prez. Bush with Hitler.  Cannot stand it when people say such flaming rhetoric.  Shame on them and I intend to spend my valuable day protesting this ugly minded person.  I am a perfectly balanced Republican/Democrat and there is no need for attention-getting evil bias.

Good Morning It is raining here Yippee!!

Thanks for acknowledging that my posts were read. I was more concerned about the Psalm that I quoted and the commentary  after it. I thought it was pretty profound. It really touched my heart. Well as Janet said different strokes for different folks. Although I did find the dog info quite informative too. It was a new discovery for me about the breed.

I got another Job but it doesn't start for a couple of weeks. I will meet the lady tomorrow afternoon, she is still  in rehab recovering from a broken hip. I called all my references last night  so they would be  aware that they will be called. I will be working 5 hours per day 5 days per week at $15. per hour.

Carol yesterday I cut a cardboard 4½ in square for the pattern I think I am going to do a nine patch using  pastel ¼ gingham and white with a lavender border around each set of nine. Then I will hand quilt it instead of tying it.

Hi Samantha I know you will be looking in. How is Terry?

Hi Liz your posts are always so interesting. Glad you got to stop by the Sr. Center and see your friends.

Well I have some things to get done before I got to help my friend with her office work.

I did it - I called both the Minnesota office and the Washington, D.C. office of the Muslim congressman & politely told them I had to protest his speech comparing Bush with Hitler.  They were polite, took my name & address - I don't care - this is important.  Ugly pictures of people clapping when he spoke those awful words.

    OK - off my soapbox.

Marilyn:  Nine patch quilts are always so nice & you are going to hand-quilt as well.  Good luck.  I have been doing a little crocheting in the evenings and that is all my hands can take - a little.  Making potholders.  We didn't let our dogs sleep in beds because we wanted them to obey - something about the herd leader or - I forget but we took in strays several times & had to get control.  Some of our farmer relatives really didn't let the dogs inside the houses, they were to be guarding the farm.  We had a Schnauzer for a few years & really do miss that little sweet dog, every time I see one, I just want to bring it home.

:coffee:  Good Evening to you all.  I guess you all thought that I had planned to stay in Scotland for good.  Well we got home on Sunday and we had a wonderful holiday and thankyou for your prayers.  My wife had a fairly good time and was able to do many things as she had her scooter with her.

My mothers 90th birthday went very well and she could not believe it when her brother and his wife came through the door
They came from Ireland and they are both getting up in years.

As per usual the weather did its own thing it rained so much but we did get a few good days.

It is so good to read some of your postings and to here that most of you are doing o.k.

Well hope to keep on the site as often as I can.  May the lord richly bless you all.

Judy B.  Belated birthday and I like the new look .

Pat.  Good to here that Ian was able to get the site going again please say hi to him from me.    Gord and Noreen. <3

    Welcome back Gord!

We have Johnny here for a couple of days.  What a bundle of energy he is.  I am sure energy is wasted on the young!  HE helped with weeding, sat beside me on the lawn tractor. I took them swimming, and now they have taken the dogs and have gone into the bush.  Later they want to play ball for a while.  I can't keep up.  He will be going home on Thursday and then on Sunday he is heading to camp for a week.

God is so good, as I think on his blessings I am at a loss for words.

    Must run
    Love and prayers to all

Hi everyone.  I would have been here earlier today but have had trouble with my Internet connection almost all day.  I have been on with the DSL Repair office twice and they may have to come to the house as I am still losing the connection but now it seems to come right back.

For the 13 months I have used a VOIP internet based phone system.  Well about 9:30 last evening my friend sent me an IM to say that SunRocket had declared bankruptcy yesterday and had shut down all operations.  Fortunately I had put in a land line several months ago for the DSL so we still have a phone.  This morning I called the phone company and added unlimited long distance to our account and was pleasantly surprised to learn it would be only $10 a month more and that includes the extras list caller ID and forwarding.  I get the lower rate because I have a bundle of services otherwise the package would have been an extra $20 a month.  This will actually be less expensive than the VOIP I was using.  So hopefully our phone situation is under control.

I have read all the messages but not going to make individual comments this evening as there are too many.  Be back tomorrow.  (Judy, I do like your new photo--very nice.)

    Carol

Don't eat chocolate too soon before bedtime ---- it will cause me tonight to have sleeping problems.

Larry:  Glad that you were able to get that problem under control.  Always something.

Gord Brown:  I would love to hear about your trip to Scotland, where you enjoyed it the most and what to see - we want to go there late fall.  Those scooters are wonderful and such a help to difficult walks.

    Carol

    Janet

Carol, good for you for making those calls!  It just stunned me that Minnesota would elect a Muslim to Congress.  >:(

Judy, I really like your new photo.  I have been wanting a new one put on for over two years, but don't know how to do it.  :-[

Welcome home, Gord!  Scotland is another place I would like to go--my list keeps growing.

Darrel and I just spent two hours watching a DVD I had made from the old 8mm movies we took years ago.  I sure wish they had edited out all the blank spots.  I guess it might be much easier to edit from DVD format than from the reels of movie tape.  I got copies for my girls for Christmas.  They look so cute in the movies--even cuter than I remember. ;)  (Sound like a Mom, don't I?)

Carol, I never thought about chocolate keeping me awake............hmmmm.....maybe.........I will have to watch that, as I have a terrible time getting a decent night's sleep.

Congrats on the new job(s) Marilyn.

Larry, sounds like you got a real deal on your phone.  Ours costs a lot more than that, for sure.

Time to get some shut-eye, if possible.

Hi everyone.  It hasn't been very long since I posted last evening.  My interenet seems to be working ok today so am keeping my fingers crossed.  Our telephone connection is really a lot better than we have had this last year so think we will stay with the telephone company in the future.  It is nice to try different thngs and my good friend hasn't given up on VOIP telephone service.  They each have cell phones and are dependent on a landline as I am now with the DSL connection.

Marilyn, was so happy to read of your new jobs.  I didn't think it would take you long and you probably needed a few days of  "vacation" before your next job.

    Happy Birthday Karen.

Janet, with both my phone service and the DSL service the bill will be $87 a month.  I think that is reasonable.  We seldom travel and don't attend movies very often, if at all, so the satellite for TV and the high speed DSL service are worthwhile for us.  My friend Rod has just had all of his 8 mm film digitized by a company in Missouri.  AS we never had an 8 mm camera we don't have to be concerned with doing this.  I also only had maybe 75 slides, which I as able to digitize with my scanner.

Carol, yesterday Pat's quilting guild had a special event where they sold tables for $10 and the members could bring items to sell to other members.  Pat and her good friend shared a table and while she sure didn't sell all she took she did get rid of a number of quilting books she no longer wanted and a few other items.  She was telling me of a experience they had yesterday where a little lady came to the table and selected on of Pat's books and was holding what appeared to be the money in her left hand.  When she went to pay Pat she opened her hand as if to deposit the money in Pat's hand.  When Pat looked down there was no money.  She asked her if she was going to pay and the lady insisted she had paid.  Pat made no issue with her as it was less than $1 involved.  A hour or so later the same lady came back and selected a couple of items from Pat's friend and reached into her pocket and put something in the lady's hand.  It was a gum wrapper and something else.  When she was questioned she insisted it was money.  Obviously the poor little lady was seeing money in each instance.  Pat spoke to the guild president and she in turn spoke to the lady's daughter-in-law and found that they had been suspecting that something seriously was wrong with the lady.  They will obviously have their hands full.

I spent a little time this morning with my credit union as the check they had issued to my church for June apparently had not been received by the church.  They are doing a trace on the check and will get back with me in a few days to see if the church had endorsed it and a record-keeping mistake has occurred or if it was never executed.  Always something to check on.  :)

    Marilyn

Good Morning everyone. Not really much to post aboout this morning. So I will just say hello and come back later in the day.

    Good afternoon!

First of all, Judy...I really like your new do and photo!

    Second....HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAREN!!

My busy morning yesterday went fine.  I only had to be stuck once to get blood.  It flowed real well for the first vial and then stopped on the second vial.  I don't know what she was doing...I can't look at a needle stuck in my arm...but she finally got my blood to flow again and filled the second vial.

Then I went to Arby's to eat...I thought they had a breakfast menu but I had a sandwich instead since they don't serve breakfast.

Then to the dentist.  I got impressions of my mouth and today Ivalou and I went back to get the new trays and bleaching stuff to whiten my teeth at home.  Ivalou hadn't done this yet so she got her impressions today and goes back tomorrow for the trays and bleaching stuff.

Anyway I got home early and even was online for awhile before Euchre.  Euchre was fun.  I guess us women who were strangers a year ago are now great friends.  Lots of laughter.  I was back home by 3pm.

Today Ivalou had an eye exam...she didn't have to have new glasses and then we went to the dentist.  After her impressions we ate at a small Chinese place.  Really great food!  Now I am home again.

    Marilyn

I am heading out in a few minutes to go visit the lady who will be my new patient when she gets out of Rehab. I spent the morning at the Mini Storage place finding things to do. Tomorrow I will work in the afternoon.  Will take the dogs out for their walks when I get back from Eureka. Then Bible study tonight.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAREN!!

I'm glad some of you are having really good days, nice to read that.  I have had a really miserable day myself, but trying to count my blessings.  My arm pain is really bad, so I talked to the nurse at the senior center, she recommended I go back to my local doctor, I got an appointment and went to see him.  He called and managed to get me in for the nerve conduction studies tomorrow, rather than August 20.  Waiting that long, with the other problems in my arm might result in a frozen shoulder and even more pain.  UGH.  I am dreading the tests tomorrow big time, but guess it's a necessary evil.  Prayers appreciated.

Since I have to be in Dodge City at the time I was to take Beth and Gloria out to the fair, my sister is going to use the van and take them, I am thankful for that.

God bless you all.  I'd better stop typing, not helping my pain.

I came back to add that today is our anniversary!

Janet!! don't tell me you were going to load Beth yourself with your arm the way it is. Or puch a wheel chair. No No !!

Good interview with the new patient, her daughter and son. I did find out though that this job may only be a month long for financial reasons as well as the mother might be able to start doing things for herself. Drat I was hoping for  a longer Job. So I will just keep my name out there and accept calls and interview people. That's the only way I can be reassured of getting another job right away.

    Hi, friends,

I'm just too busy to reply with much this evening. At any rate, my son who has the headaches can't be helped (apparently) unless God intervenes. They're caused by "electrical surges" in the brain. Thanks for praying for him.

My son who is the groom's father is here, mainly on business, but we get to see each other some while he's in Nashville. What a lovely late lunch we had with my daughter this afternoon.

The other son and family are preparing for 2 events - first is the baby girl's birthday. She'll be four next month.

Then, on the 6th of next month, my daughter in law has 3 vertebrae fused because someone hit her from behind on the interstate and caused the back damage.

Will keep in touch as well as I can, given time constraints.

    Love to everyone. :)
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Thank you for the comments on the picture.  Janet I am sure Pat would walk you through putting a new picture up.

Marilyn I have been praying about your job situation.  GOD WILL PROVIDE!

I really hesitiate to comment on the individual posts.  I always miss someone or something.  I do read them through, and laugh or cry with each of you.

One I am commenting on is Marilyn.. STOP USING YOUR ARM!  Now I will get off my soap box!

It has been a real joy having my grandson here.  He is a wonderful young man, and once he knew and understood the rules life with him became a breeze.  He has energy pluss.  I just wish I had half of his energy.

On the 16th of June I started taking Bee Pollen.  I found it gave me endurance and helped with the energy.  I ran out about 10 days ago.  Today a dear friend came for a visit and we decided to get more Bee Polen.  I have great expectations with it now.  I also got another container of honey.  Gord remember honey sandwiches and honey in your tea?  Yummy, perhaps if you come up we all could take a trip to the bee farm?

Well that is all for now Have a good evening everyong and God Bless.

    Jeannine

    Good morning all,

I know I dont post very often, but I do read and pray for the needs of all. As usual it has been a crazy year again.

I would like to ask for prayers for my son Michael. He is going in for surgery today. They will be doing a few things and it should take about 3 hours. Thank you!  He is my little sweetheart and it always makes me nervous when he has to have anything done. Especially now since we have not been able to get him off oxygen for about a month and a half. when they put him under for this his breathing will be more depressed and I worry.

I know some of you know about Michael and his special needs. I also dont usually post a poem. I am posting this one because it is about Michael. Thank you for your prayers and your patience. I hope you enjoy it.

    UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

How wonderful the Fathers love for you and me.
How abundant if we would only see.
We are like the blind man Jesus healed.
His love and mercy to him were revealed.

So too for us, we are blind.
We see others needs and frailties but pay them no mind.
You gave us children so very special to You,
So that we might see love as unconditional too.

My son is one of Your very special children,
he cannot talk or play or walk or run.
But You have given him a very special heart,
he sees others as You do and loves with Your heart.

My Saviour so precious, You share Your love,
You have sent to him Your Spirit from above.
For I think he is here to open our eyes,
to show us Your love through his loving eyes.

For we are blind to Your love in our lives,
always wary of caring and inability to strive,
for that love You have given to my little boy,
So freely to him so that we may have the same joy.

Open our eyes to Your unconditional love,
help us to love others with the same love.
For though he can't speak, he accepts and loves others,
And we all are Your children, sisters and brothers.

No, Marilyn, I wasn't going to have to use my arm to load/unload Beth.  We have a van with an automatic ramp; she is in a power chair, so all I really have to do is help her with the seat belt.  Thanks for your concern, and you, too, Judy.  I knew who you meant.

Today is the nerve conduction study, and I am dreading it, but once it's over, I won't have to dread it any more.  That's the silver lining.

Gotta run, just wanted to check in before we leave.

Jeannine, what a beautiful poem.  Michael is blessed to have a mother like you.  I hope all go well with his surgery and I have prayed for him today.

Janet, glad you were able to get the tests moved up and soon they will be over and hopefully you will have a better idea of what is causing the pain and as you indicated you won't have to worry about the test upcoming.  Sometimes the worry turns out to be worse than the actual experience.

Judy, don't think I have heard of taking bee pollen.  However, nice to read that you feel it was of a benefit to you.

Ruth Ann, so sorry that there is nothing that can be done to help your son with the headaches.  Having suffered migraines for many year when I was younger I can't imagine howing to deal with them all the time and I know he may be suffering more than a person with a migraine.  Nice your other could be there to visit with you.

Marilyn, I suppose employment of indefinite term goes witht he territory of being a caregiver.  At least the month will give you time to have something else lined up when you are available again.  I know you rely on God and he will provide.

Etta Sue, your mentioning whitening your teeth reminds me of the physicians assistance for one of my heart doctors.  I have never seen anyone with such white teeth.  Hope you are happy with the procedure.  It is nice to make new friends whenever we can and it sounds like the euchere group has allowed you to do so.  Glad you enjoy the get togethers.

I had an interesting experience yesterday morning.  It was rather scary when it happened as I had never experienced anything like it.  I was typing an e-mail and all of a sudden I noticed I couldn't distinguish between the R and the P in a word and then that I had that problem with the whole message.  Shortly I began to get this swirling sensation off to my left.  I called my doctor's office and spoke with his nurse and she assured me it didn't sound like a stroke as I had no symtoms but that I should contact the triage nurse at the eye clinic that Kaiser uses in Atlanta.  I got hold of the nurse and she assured me it was very likely a silent migraine.  While I was speaking to her the vision cleared up and the swirling went away.  She suggested I take a Tylonol as many people who have these will get a headache aftewards.  I did take the Tylonol but still developed a minor headache and had it for the rest of the day.  My wife has these occasionally as does my good friend, Rod.  So all is well.

I have nothing on my calendar for today so will have a peaceful and quiet day.  Pat is going to a new Senior Center in the neighboring town for an orientation on the exercise machines.  She joined last week but they require this hour orientation to be sure you know how to use the machines properly.  I hope she gets a lot of benefit from it.  They have all types of activities there.  I think this will be beneficial to her.  She had once done a machine exercise program when we belonged to the "Y".

    Marilyn

Good Morning I have been busy this morning cleaning my house after I came home from curves and had breakfast.  Now I am waiting for the cover I use on the couch to dry o I can put it back on.

Jeannine that is such a beautiful tribute to Michael.

Janet I was happy to learn that you would not be using your arm o load and unload Beth. Thank God. Hope your tests go well today.

As for my plans for today I am going to the Senior Center in Arcata to pick up my commodities then to the place here in Mckville to pick up my senior food box. I give most of it away to who ever needs it in my neighborhood and usually only keep the tuna and  maybe some green beans that I feed to the dogs. I am also going to call to see how Ruth is doing this morning.

This afternoon I am going to the mini storage to train some more. In just a few minutes I will take the dogs for their walks.

Everything is very late & behind today.  Don needed to doze longer so I worked on a puzzle in the living room that has too much gray color in it.  We need to get our van in for a check-up and sorta looking for a 4-wheel drive small vehicle because of the difficulty getting to the mountains in wintertime.  It isn't the best day to look at cars - too hot.

Janet:  Minnesota just isn't the same as years ago.   Tons of newcomers from other lands have come - Somolia for instance.  I am not upset over a Muslim being elected, but he did use the Koran instead of the Bible for his induction.  Today is your test day, hope to hear something positive from you - I will check here later.

Larry:  I feel sorry for the family of the lady who is losing her grip on reality.  It is a thing I fear because of my mother having Alzheimer's Disease and two of her sisters with dementia of some sort.

    Jeannine:   Michael's Poem is beautiful.

Good afternoon.  I spent about all morning working with pictures on Corel PSP and making two birthday cards.  Got that done.

It was rainy when I woke this morning but the sun has been shining and then it gets cloudy.  One of those so so days.  But it is cooler, that's a plus.  But the humidity is high so it is a stay in with the A/C day.

I read all your posts but I won't comment on them all.  Just that I enjoyed Jeannine's poem for Michael so much.  I read the love for her son in it.  And Larry, I have had those silent migraines for 46 years.  And thanks to God that they are silent!  And like you, the first one scared me to pieces.  Janet, do let us know how your tests come out.  Arm pain isn't fun....well, any pain isn't fun!  Marilyn, you will find a job after this one is over.  Your reputation is getting around in your area so word of mouth is great for a great caregiver.  Carol, I think it is scary for a Muslim to be in office in America.  JudyB, I have heard that Bee Pollen is good for allergies but the pollen has to come from your area.  Ruth Ann, it sounds like your family will be busy in the next few weeks.

Now to go figure out where these gnats are coming from.  I haven't had them before and I notice a bunch today!

Here is my report.  The doctor did the nerve conduction test and said I do not have carpal tunnel syndrome.  Those weren't as bad as I expected, though painful.  Then he said he wanted to check something else, so inserted needles and shot electricity into my hand, then on up my arm, and it hurt like the blazes!  When he got almost to the bend of my elbow, Darrel said when he turned on the electricity, my whole body came up off the table!  I've never had such a jolt of pain.  The doctor looked at me and said "I can't go any farther with this, you are suffering way too much."  He didn't get any argument from me on that!  The tears were flowing freely by then, and I am not a wimp.  Anyway, he says I have "Right Guyon's Canal Syndrome, motor and sensory"............whatever that is.

I'm to take his report back to Dr. Rane and see what she thinks we need to do next.  Now I'm going to take some pain pills and a sleeping pill and go to bed.

Yes Marilyn and Janet I meant Janet.  I continue to pray for both of your siituations.

Does anyone want some news to rejoice about?  I received an email from a dear friend who had some bad cells with her last pap.  The operated and did a biopsy and all is clear.  There is no cancer!  Woohoo.  You know when you are in the thick of problems and feel like you are drowning, it is good to know that God still answers prayer.  He does and because He is Soverign, He has each individual circumstance under control.  Praise God.

We have cool, no cold weather here in the north.  This is so unusual for the time of year.

I am about ready with next years home school cirriculum.  I need to finish photocopying a bit then I am done.  That is a relief.  I will be able to get on with other things.

Kassie was outside playing with Elizabeth and had a twig hit her eyeball.  She is fine, but her eye is quite tender.  Keep her in your prayers please?

:)   Good evening to all.   Well since we got home from Scotland it has taken us quite a few days to get back into the swing of things.
I think the jet lag  and then the problem with the change of the plane leaving  Scotland and then having to refuel in Iceland it was so long. We also were booked to be in business class and the pland did not have any of the large seats that we were supposed to get.  Now the service from the flight crew was fantastic and they did everything that they could to make us comfortable but it was very hard for my wife.

Could you please pray for my wife as she has not been feeling well since we got home.  We had to go to the hospital last night and we did not get her back home till 3-30 A.M.  so it has been very hard to get our schedules back in line.

Carol:  Are you planning to go to Scotland this year if you are  send me an email and I will give you some things to do and tell you some places to see. If you don't know how to get my email address just put your curser on my name on the posting and click on it and then you will see my email address.

Inspired Gal:  Happy birthday and also welcome to C.P. I have been away so that is why I have not been posting

Jaennine And Micheal  Thank you for that great poem and what and inspiration.  God is so good and I know that he will look after Micheal and God will put his hands in the doctor,s hands.  Will pray for you and your family  God Bless.

Janet I can't even imagine what you are going through.   I do know, however, that our Father is in total control of all that effects us ....

Thanks, Marilyn, for the link.  I had no clue what this was about, but now I (sorta) understand.  I am in prayer daily for all y'all who are in need of special care and prayer.

Please continue to pray for my son Michael. His surgery went fine but he had a seizure in recovery and is now on a vent in the Pediatric ICU. He is doing ok but still needing the support of the vent to breathe properly. They also think he may have a pneumonia. They also put in a chest tube to release air from around his lung. He is still a sick little boy.

May you all have a God filled and blessed day!

Hi all!  Had several posts to read as I haven't been "in" for a few days.  I prayed if you asked, though. :)

Kristi doesn't feel well this morning.  She gets really grouchy when she is like this.  Right now she is arguing with me about what she thinks is stickers, but aren't.  She wants them to "come off" and I can't get them to.  So, she is mad.

Hope everyone has had a good week, and is looking forward to the weekend.  I've got a wedding to shoot tomorrow night.  I like the money, but I don't like the stress.  What I need is a job that pays me per post on Internet message boards. :)

    Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Lot of news in here since I last posted.

Janet, sorry you had to experience so much pain during the test but good that the tests identified the problem.  I just looked at the link that Marilyn posted to see what this was and it sounds like there will be relief in your future.  I hope this isn't your painting hand and arm.

Jeannine, sure glad Michael came through the surgery well but sorry to hear of his problems since.  I am sure he is getting the best care available plus he has the Great Physician watching over him and you.

Karmat, these little snits that little ones can have can be so funny to watch.  They know they are right.

Gord, were you flying at the time of the terrorist attack on the airport terminal?  That does sound like a very long trip.  Hope your wife soon is able to feel a little better.  Anytime we go to an ER we now know it is going to take many hours.

Judy, that was good news for your friend.

Marilyn, hope you find the cause of the gnat problem.  We have had those sometimes brought into the house in a bunch of bananas.

I have a luncheon today with a good friend.  We are going to an Italian restruarant and the owner is the chef and prepares everything free everyday.  I have only been there a couple of times but it was excellent.  The luncheon prices are very competitive with most other places that are not fast food.  I am sure I won't need any supper tonight.  I will go down to Atlanta and pick up our daughter, who is spending the weekend today.

Hope everyone has a good day.  I intend to do just that.

    Janet

Good morning.  Kristi, I wish I could give you some stickers---but once on, they may not come off, either.  ;)  Feel better soon, little one.

Marilyn, thanks so much for that link.  I understand a little more of what's happening with my arm/hand.  I have an appointment with Dr. Rane next Friday, see what she says then.  I had a good night, but don't want to take that much medicine every night!  I had been pain free all morning, but it is coming back now, with a vengence.  :(

Ruth Ann, hello.  Love you, lady.  (((hugs)))

I guess Jeanie managed okay yesterday, taking Beth and Gloria to the fair.  It was so good of her to fill in for me.

Hello to Jeannine, Colin, Larry, Judy, Karen, Jane, Gord, Etta Sue and Pat..........and Carol, and all the rest of you whose names have momentarily deserted me.

Larr What gnat problem I don't have gnats? I haven'tha gnats since I moved here to Humboldt County from the desert. Had 'em real bad just before I left the desert.

Janet glad I could be of some help to your understanding the problem.

Today is Ruth's birthday So Iwill be at her party later thismorning. For now I am going to my Tai Chi class I won't be about to go as long as I am working for my new client. I have to be there at 8am.

Larry, it is my house that is gnatty!  Inky noticed them before me.  She has eyes of an eagle, I think.  Nothing, small or large, gets past her.  I do believe the gnats liked the crookneck squash that I cleaned and then left the pealing after eating.  Finally put it in a ziplock bag until trash day.

Marilyn, thanks for the link.  I hope I never have that and pray that Janet gets relief soon from the pain.

Ivalou and I are going to see 'Hairspray' this afternoon.  We love singing and dancing and this looks like a lot of singing and dancing.  ::)

Marilyn:   Thanks for the info I just learned something new.

Our son has been helping his father with a rebuild job and deal is that he will be staying for supper I love when that happens.

I went to the dairy queen and purchased a banana split for myself and another for my aunt she is the last of the siblings in her family again it is a special time that we spend together.

To the rest have a great afternoon and evening.

Gord:  I will email you soon.  Thanks.  I certainly hope that your dear wife feels better very soon - travel is just so unpredictable and she had to put up with much too much on your return.

Marilyn:  Thanks for the site - I was just going to look up Janet's medical terms.  Good for you for getting another job.

Ruth:  How nice that you are taking an auntie out for a treat.  Am sure that she really appreciates it.  Yes, any time the children come to visit, I have the same good feelings.

Just stopping in to say a few words before I  get ready for bed.

I just came back from my neighbors house where I picked some fresh organic Lettuce, Arugula, Chicory, Mizuna, and nasturtium leaves and flowers for salads. She also gave me some peas.  The neighbor directly behind me has a beautiful Purple Hydrangea that I want to get a slip from the next time I see him.  I live in a great neighborhood we all share with one another.

Ruth's little birthday party was nice. He son bought a beautiful Carrot sheet cake for everyone to have a piece.

He tells me that she is being evicted from the care home because she is too disruptive, she is really giving them a hard time and the  woman who owns the place is not having her disturbing the other residents. That's too bad because the next place is a nursing home. She says there is nothing to do but sit around all day.

    Good Night all.

Waiting for my  :coffee: to brew.  I did get on our treadmill for 20 minutes only.  We are having more hot weather - a lot of record-setting days.  It just takes any ummph out of a person.  Don wants to go to a closer church tomorrow morning just to visit.  It is much smaller than ours and it would be so nice to walk.

Larry:  And, they said there is no such thing as a free lunch.  That is amazing.

Let me tell you about a cafe in Denver that makes fresh food and everything is free - the concept is to give what you think the food is worth and to help out whenever possible so one woman who was out of work came back to wash dishes.  I hope they make it.

Marilyn:  And, they will surely drug Ruth in that nursing home to calm her.  So sorry to hear that she isn't adjusting well.

    Carol

    Marilyn

I spoke to the lady who owns the home where she is at present. he found two other homes that would accept her and her bad attitude. They are bigger and have other staff then just to two who own it.

Her son is taking her to visit them today and he will tell her to make up her own mind and chose which one she wants to live in. Her medication was changed a few days ago and she is much more alert and very verbal about everything. Mostly trying to blame everything on her daughter in law.

She thinks she has done no wrong even though she was putting her fingers in the other ladies food to see if they were eating the same as her. Plus she was throwing tantrums at the table. I feel very sorry for her as I have never seen this side of her, I kept her under tight reign in public and watched her like a hawk. Not many people wanted to sit with us at the senior center because every now and then she would take out her partials and lay them on the table. I got her to stop that.

Oh well enough on that subject.

I am going to mow this morning and attend a memorial service this afternoon. The weather man said it was going to rain so I  gotta get it mowed soon.

Hope ya'll have a wonderfully blessed weekend!

Good Morning for a few minutes.

Sixteen years ago today my husband passed away.  Seems like yesterday and also seems like eons ago.

If you like singing and dancing, then go see 'Hairspray'.  I thought it was a great PG movie.  And at times, you did forget that John Travolta was Edna.  It is a great funny, feel good movie.

Then Ivalou and I ate at El Camino Real.  I still say that restaurant has the best Nachos Supreme anywhere.  And I ate it all!

I got up late today.  Just couldn't get out of bed.  I have this mindset that I shouldn't get out of bed until 8 something.  But today it was almost 10 when I did get up.  That is bad.  But I have had my breakfast, read my devotions and decided that instead of walking, I would spray RoundUp along my driveway and around trees and other things.  No wind so a great day for that.

Now I have to mow the lawn as soon as I get caught up online.

I have done my mowing, showered and shampooed my hair and now I am having a protein drink and a part of a bran muffin. (Well almost a whole bran muffin). The sun is shining brightly so it looks like Jim the weather man was wrong again. Now I  going to get back to cutting the pieces for my  baby quilt.

A nice cloudy and cool day, here on the island.  We seem to have lost summer again, but this person is not going to complain ;)

I went for a long walk and stopped in at Serious Coffee for a Latte and read the free newspapers.  Could read it at home....usually out of date by the time I get around to doing so...Not a very exciting day ahead.  Will probably cook dinner for the kids.  Wendy is terribly stressed and about to toss in the towel, where my granddaughter is concerned.  Not going into details, but if ever anyone needed a change of attitude, it is their once nice daughter.  Prayer might be helpful!

Did anyone see Tammy Faye on Larry King the other night?  It is so sad to see what cancer can do to people.  She only weights 65 lbs.  I was moved by her strength of faith.  Never a fan of her and Jim Baker, tho'  do admire her courage.

Marilyn, you surely do have much to contend with in your work.  Think there must be a special place in heaven for folks like you.

    Here is a little smile:

The math teacher saw that Little Johnny wasn't paying attention in class. She called on him and said, "Johnny! What are 2 and 4 and 28 and 44?"

Little Johnny quickly replied, "NBC, CBS, HBO and the Cartoon Network!"

                                        ;)

    Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz, I don't get Larry King here but I have seen most of the interviews with Tammy Faye.  There was one in May, when she was only 62 lbs.  And this most recent one where she was so happy to have gained, and weighed 65 lbs.

I, too, marveled at how she kept her faith strong and retained her humor as well.

I just read that she passed away "peacefully in her home" on Friday.  They delayed the announcement until today.  She was only 65.

Hi everyone.  We will soon be leaving for church.  We had a nice rain this morning, not predicted by the weatherman the last time I heard.  My good friend, Rod, and his wife are attending his family reunion in the mountains of Virginia close to the Tennessee border.  I heard from him this morning and he said they had a perfect day yesterday.  They always have an afternoon hike and then a weenie roast.  Today he said they will start with a worship service and then a big lunch and later games for everyone.

Marilyn, I knew it was Etta Sue who spoke of the gnats.  Guess I was just on the wrong parapragh of my postings when I wrote.

Liz,  Sorry that things aren't going well with your granddaughter.

Marilyn, I feel for Ruth's son in the situation he is dealing with.  Sometimes we have bad choices and worse choices and it is hard to know which is which.  I agree with Carol, based on the experience we had with my mother, that the nursing homes do drug the patients to control unacceptable behavior.  It is very sad but one patient's rights don't exceed that of the others and compromises are often required.

Etta Sue, a couple of days ago I read an article about John Travolta in the current Reader's Digest and he talked about that movie you saw.

I don't feel very chatty today so will be brief.

    Carol

We have lots of time as this neighborhood church begins at 10 in the summertime.  I even have to mend my slacks - these are really lightweight cropped pants as it will be 100 today and this is an outdoor service, not 100 yet thank goodness.

Liz;  Is this a teenage girl you are talking about?  Lord, help everyone!!!

Gord:  Hello, I sent an email to you regarding Scotland.

As for Tammy Faye, it certainly is not for me to judge.  She was a different person - I always admired her steadfast faith and speaking out.  She was from International Falls, MN and that is a very tough town - very harsh so to speak.  Her cancer began within the colon so I hope that this encourages everyone to get a colonoscopy because of the suffering years later.

    Happy Sunday to all, Carol

Church was great.  Really touching messages..some touches hurt, some touches felt really good.

Kaye Don, Barb, Ivalou and I went out to eat last evening for Ivalou's birthday which is today.  Then we went to Kaye Don and Barb's and played cards.  Kaye Don and I got skunked so we played a new game for me.  I like it a lot better.  But it was late for me to get to bed.

I called Ivalou this morning to wish her a Happy Birthday.  I imagine she will go out with the ladies from her church to eat.

I ate at Taco Bell and then went to WalMart and now home.

Just like most Sunday afternoon's, I feel a nap coming on.  ZZZZzzzzz!!

Another cloudy day here on the island.  Actually, I sort of prefer this to 100 deg. temps.  Going to think long and hard about complaining regarding weather.... :-\
Could be we have had our week of Summer!

Hope that I didn't give the impression that my granddaughter is not a nice person.  She recently turned 20 yrs., Carol.  Young people have so much to face in this world today and it certainly must be confusing and scary.  I have always been proud of her....it is simply that my daughter needs all the physical help possible.  Amanda is a very talented artist and it hurts that she is not more aware of all the opportunities her parents are providing.  Possibly it is because young people today have learned to hide their feelings and no longer express emotion.  My daughter is so warm and outgoing, without a lazy bone in her body.  I shudder at the lives of some of Amanda's friends....and am grateful that she is decent, drug free and not involved with horrible relationships.  Not having siblings has meant not having to share.  Life is going to teach otherwise....Without a strong faith it is going to be a hard journey!  I can only pray that somewhere along the way, a Christian friend will come into her life and teach her about Jesus.

Time to go.  Things to do.

    Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Sad to hear about the end for Tammy Faye.  She certainly didn't have an easy life, and I'm proud of her for her strong faith, right to the very end.

This will be short, as the pain has not abated.  Friday I will see Dr. Rane and find out what she thinks needs to be done.

Liz, I will pray for Amanda.  Our grandkids are tightly wound around our hearts.

Some friends from church have promised to move Beth's desk for us today, as neither Darrel nor I can lift it.  She's been waiting for weeks already for someone to do it, so I'm thankful for these guys.

    God bless all here.

Edit:  Speaking of the Readers' Digest, in the August issue there is an article titled "Kid Courageous" about a little boy who has Neurofibromatosis.  This is the same condition Beth has.

Hello everyone.  This has been a stressful couple of days BUT God is good.

We are at last having summer weather.  Nice breeze to go with it.

Janet take care.  Marilyn my heart goes out to Ruth and her family.  Yes the daughter-in-law is often the scape goat.  Not easy for Ruth though.

What an awesome thing it is to live in the country!

Our baby hawk has just left the nest.  It flew into the hydro pole and fell onto the grass.  (Silly bird!)  Kassie went and took a pair of work gloves and caught it.  She gave it to me to put on the low roof of the school room.  At least on the roof the cats won't catch it.  It is so pretty!  I can say that there are few city kids who have this experience.  When you look at the feather patterns of this bird you stand in awe at our creation.... each bird so unique and different!

We are going to have a whole week of prayer meetings, seeking God to see what he wants each of us to fast from that is keeping us away from him. Then next Monday we start our fast. It doesn't have to be food this time, but  those other little things that draw us away from him. It could be the computer time, or the TV,our jobs, gossip, whatever.

    Hi all,

Have not been around much since my son Michael is still in the pediatric ICU. He is still on a ventilator. They were trying to wean him off but now has spiked a fever and seems to have some sort of infection. Please continue to pray for him. I did not let it sink in until today that he could have died when he had the seizure in recovery and I could have lost him. That is why he was put on the ventilator, to help him breathe. It is very scary seeing your child laying there not breathing on his own and having a machine do it for him. Please pray?

Yes, Liz, Amanda just needs what we all need - an ongoing, living and intense elationship with Christ.  I pray our Father to bring a Christian friend into her life and that she will hear and believe..  God is so very, very gracious.

Yes, Judy, every part of the vastness of creation reveals the Creator's marvelous wisdom, power, artistry, and goodness.  May He show you His goodness via that little hawk.  Oh how far short does evolution fall of explaining the marvel of even the simplest aspect of His work.

I didn't attend our services this morning.  Marbeth has a viral infection that produces a sore and some swelling  below and to the left side of her mouth, and, now that it's abating, it causes a kind of scabbing that is somewhat unsightly and might be contagious.  So we stayed home.  She told me I could go, but I thought it better that I stay with her.  We read Scripture and prayed this morning.  I'd appreciate your prayer for her to quickly mend and lose those sores.

I am all ready to leave to see my ENT doctor.  I get the lovely scope down my throat again to see if there is any new growths starting.  I sure hope this isn't an every 6 weeks things.  My $$$$ are stretched to the max now.  I was going to ask Ivalou to go with me and then, of course, eat lunch out.  But I have plenty to eat here at home and I have already paid for it.

I am tired this morning.  Seems I fought the bed all night long.  Too hot...too cold.  I wish I would find the happy medium.

Hi everyone.  Just back from coffee and Pat left for the senior center to work on the exercise machines and then has a doctor's appointment so I have the house to myself all morning.  Will just work on some projects and take it easy today.  I seem to do a lot of that these days but enjoy not being rushed.  This evening our church friends are meeting at Red Lobster for our monthly birthday celebration, which we haven't had for a couple of months.  I think we have two birthdays to celebrate.  We use any excuse to get together and dine out.  :)

Etta Sue, sure you are not looking forward to your test but hopefully it will show everything is fine now.

Hi Samatha and thanks for reminding me to also express Happy Birthday wishes to Ruth Ann and Pinkie.

Pat, hope things settle down for you for awhile.  You are one busy lady.

Al, hope Marbeth heals quickly.  It was nice of you to stay with her and have your own service of worship yesterday.

Hi Jane, I join with you in your well written words to Jeannine as neither can I imagine the stress of her situation.  Jeannine, it sounds like it is going to take Michael quite awhile to recover from his operation.

Marilyn, it sounds like you will have a busy week at your church.

Judy, you are having the opportunity to see something most of us well never see with the baby hawk.  The last two weeks I have been watching a program on the History Channel about the Canadian Ice Truckers.  It is very interesting and such a dangerous job.  It has high pay but very high risk as well.

Hi Ruth.  When does your school begin again.  It is only 2 or 3 more weeks before our school system will be back for the fall season and the buses will be running again and the traffic becomes much worse.

Janet, glad you are getting some help with Beth's desk.  We have a group of men (and perhaps women) in our church that helps members with needs like that as well as bigger projects.  I expect to get the August Readers Digest from a friend gave me so will look for that article.  He has given me the last two issues when he was had read them.  He always jokes that he has to read each issue to see what new ailment he knows he has after reading about it.

Liz, unfortunately children sometimes can't see what is really happening with their parents and perhaps that is the situation with your granddaughter.  Does she go away for the college term or stay at home?  I always stayed at home while attending college and think I probably missed a part of the college experience in being able to participate in various activities.  However, I have no complaint as was able to get the training I needed.

Carol, I saw that you had 97 degree temps in the Denver area.  We had a relatively cool day yesterday with close to two inches of very nice rain.  It looks like the sun will be shining here today.  The yardmen are due this afternoon and the grass really needs mowing again as has really grown and is very green.

Hope this is a good day for everyone.

Quite a workout at the pool today - I float so much lower than everyone & drink in water too often & was complaining about it when someone said that I had more muscle - oh, sure.  I don't think so.   :D  The only other one who floats like I do is a much younger & more fit guy, so this has gone to my head  ::)

Liz:  I didn't think of Amanda as being "bad", only she is at the age when there is a lot of drop-outs from church.  They return when they have their first child.  I am praying much the same as you for some of my family as well.  Pastor Al will keep us going on this track

Pat:  You have really been busy with SN.  Great job!

Judy B:  Love how you are teaching your children to love nature.

Larry:  I should not have looked at the 7 day forecast as it just makes me mad.  No rain.  Hot and dry.

I am so sorry.  I am about 24 hours late in posting the new week for Thoughts.

My only excuse is I am getting old (but aren't we all?)

    The new week is
    here.
