Hi everyone.  I am happy to be able to report this morning that the tests or x-rays on our daughters foot did not indicate the infection has gotten into the bone.  So there was no need to keep her in the hospital and they released her last night.  Unfortunately, she can't get the medicine they prescribed until Monday but hopefully the antibiotic she had by IV will carry over the weekend and the infection won't start up again.

I spoke with her after she got home and she said her computer is constantly rebooting and asking for the system disks.  I am afraid the hard disk may have crashed as it was original with the computer when I bought it several years ago.  Fortunately, there is a second hard drive in the computer that I can use to replace the first but all the work in setting it up originally is probably lost.  However, no big deal.

We did not have many fireworks in our neighborhood last evening.  Fortunately, my next door neighbors did not have the all-day party this year with the loud music and that was a relief.  The weather turned off nice here last evening as it really cooled down.

Janet, I am so sorry to read that Beth now has the flu.  Hope it was the 24 hour variety.

Judy, wish we could see a picture of your new pups.  I am sure they are very cute and it sounds like they are very intelligent.

I am going to be brief this morning as need to get busy on getting things together to be able to work on our daughter's computer.  I will probably go down there this afternoon.

Ruth Ann Bice

Goodness, gracious, Janet! I'm so sorry to learn of Beth's flu.

Larry, it's frightening when a person's released from the hospital and then can't get the medictions prescribed. I've gone through that after I was released one time. I'm thankful her infection isn't to the bone, but so sorry she's got one at all.

Marilyn and Pat, I really enjoyed both the links. Janet, will view yours a bit later in the day.

Looks like my son's feeling well enough to put a much-needed ceiling light in the kitchen. So, we're going to one of the big warehouse stores to buy it, then I suppose I'll be the "electrician's helper" for a bit.  ;)

I believe I'll be able to complete that spreadsheet project on time. Thanks to our Lord who has helped me assess what's needed and learn a "new trick" in Excel to get the job done.

Y'all have a wonderful day.

Lunch with Ivalou was fun.  Then we went to Sears to see if she could purchase a new sweeper.  Since she discovered she is AFIB, sweeping tires her and she gets so winded.  She thinks a light-weight sweeper will be better.  But they are all plastic now and she doesn't like that.  I guess that is why they are light-weight.  Then I discovered she wants a small sweeper for quick picker uppers.  So she sure doesn't need to spend that much money.  We came home with no new sweeper.

Last evening I went to Tony's.  Charlene is in Florida with her family celebrating an uncle's 80th birthday.  Tony and I went to 'On the Border' and back to his house to chat.  Great guy.  Good head on his shoulders.  Proud Mom.

Today is another gray, dismal, cloudy day.  Looks like rain any minute.  I thought I would mow sometime today but so far the grass is too damp to mow.  Kitty and I are suppose to go get matte boards for our State Fair Photo entries and then maybe to her house to matte mine.

Thanks to all who posted some sites for the 4th!  And I still say that nothing puts a lump in my throat every time except Old Glory and patriotic songs.

I was home just before dark last evening and had a nice little fireworks display just down the road from me.  The boomers went on even after I went to bed, though.

Marilyn

Happy is still groggy from being tranquilized for two nights. The neighbors have been letting off fireworks for a couple of night. Yesterday I medicated him about 2pm in the afternoon  I had heard a few bangs and pops and he scooted under the bed. I got him to come out and gave a pill, then at 3 I coaxed him out again to eat his supper, At 7pm I gave him another pill hoping it would be enough to keep him calm. Even before dark the commotion started and didn't  stop until after 11:30 pm he was totally stressed out under my bed  drooling and scooting around trying to hide. I was on the floor trying to calm him but to no avail. He is finally coming around this morning and gone outside to potty. Bebe stayed pretty close to him all yesterday, she laid on top of the bed and would not come out only when he did she got off and came out with him.

I'm home from work---two down, one to go in my three day marathon.  Feet hurting, of course.  :(

Darrel said his Scuba class did really well again today.  Including, of course, our Abby!  Her brother Mark is home for the weekend, so he brought Abby up, and got into the water to refresh his scuba skills, too.  He brought his roommate with him, and the three of them stopped by my work for a few minutes.  Brett seems like a really nice boy, very polite.  Mark showed him some of the scuba stuff, too, so now of course Brett wants to get certified.

Larry, so glad the infection hadn't gotten into the bone!  But it sounds painful to have at all.  Best of luck with the computer repairs--of course you have so much skill, you don't need the luck!

Ruth Ann, happy to hear the spreadsheet project is going well!  You're one of God's favorite daughters, you know!  <3

I called Beth, she is feeling better but still has a really bad headache.

I see that Colin posted a Shout to Marilyn.  Glad to see Colin up and around.

Ruth Ann:  You can hold the ladder steady while the light is being installed - been there many times.   :)

Larry  That is good news about Stacey's infection.  Oh, always a computer problem ready to pounce.

Marilyn:  Poor Happy.  I have heard that you can get a recording of thunder and keep playing it and just pretend nothing is happening to train a dog not to be afraid.  But if they have had that fright for years I don't know if it would work.

we are starting to unload the storage unit and bring the boxes here to the garage leaving one vehicle outside.  It is so hot that I suggested only doing one load in the mornings.

Aye Carol I was in just for a wee read and being British, was keeping my head down with your 4th July celebrations. Of course it was us Ulster Scots who made your country great in the first place!  Hope you Americans all had a great day. My older brother got married on the 4th July...talk about loosing ones independance.  ::)
I do feel a little better...was a bit under the weather for awhile. I am away now before I get into any more trouble.

Take care all... <3

:)  Hi to all. I have looked at many of the post's and again many interesting things going on in each of your lives.

My wife and I have been doing things with our grandson and we were able to help our daughter get out of the house as when you have a new baby it is very hard to just get things together and take of.  My wife and I enjoy children so much and my grandson is os much fun to be around and does not make strange.  We are able to take him out also as we went and bought a car seat for the van.

It seems that time just disappears and my family will be here in no time from Scotland and we are very excited to have them coming.  Could you all pray for us that we have an oppertunity to be a witness to them for the Lord and that they will see a difference in us.

Judy B.:  How are things up in the north sounds like you are very busy and the dogs sound cute. Say hi to John.

Paul and Pat:  When you get a moment will you emil me your phone number in Virginia thanks. Hope all is well and that was a beautiful 4th. of July clip.  God Be with you both  Sis.and Bro.

Larry:  Ido hope that your daughters foot will get better and that you canget her computer working for her.

Well I must get to bed as it is late now.  May the Lord give you all a great day today and God bless to all.

Colin:  Glad to see that you are up and about just take it easy. :coffee:

Hi everyone.  I got up fairly early this morning.  Since the choir isn't singing today we don't have to leave for church until 11 am.

Yesterday afternoon I went down to my daughter's apartment to check out the computer situation.  All I can say is it was a total frustration.  The hard disk on the computer I took down to her about a week ago had crashed.  There was a second hard drive in the computer so I went prepared to install Windows XP on that drive and went through the formatting process and loaded the Windows.  It looked like everything was fine but after the initial screens the monitor shuts down and I can't do a thing.

I called my friend, Rod, and he said maybe something was lose.  So I took the cover off the computer and checked to be sure everything was secure and it was.  So I had to give up on that computer.

She still had the old computer she had been trying to use so decided I would put it back in place so she would have telephone access.  Well, that didn't work either.  The computer had slowed to the point of non-responsiveness.  I tried a system restore back to before the point I had made a number of software changes and that didn't produce a thing.  Finally, about 6:30 last evening I gave it up as a lost cause and came home.

I think what I am going to do is give her the new laptop I recently purchased and setup a wireless router that I have.  As she spends a lot of time resting with her feet up on the bed, I believe this would be much more usable for her.  We considered just getting her a cellphone plan and not having a computer.  However, she has lots of idle time and a computer, while not essential, is very helpful to have.

If I do this I will get myself another laptop and bring the new LCD monitor back home and use it in my office in place of the big old monitor I have.  Decision--decisions.

Colin, good to see you posting. I like your art form.  I guess I am an artist in the same vain.  :)  Glad you are feeling better.

Gord, those grandchildren are so priceless.  It is wonderful that you have the opportunity to be around them and enjoy them.  It sounds like you will be busy again with company.

Carol, it is good that you have some time to get your packing and arranging done.  You haven't told us much about where you moving to.  I know I would be interested.

Janet, perhaps by the time you read this your three days of work will be completed and you can begin another period of recovery.  Glad Beth is feeling better but a headache is no fun at all.

Marilyn, glad the 4th is over for your dogs.  Is it dry in your area.  I see about all the fires in California and have to wonder why they allow unsupervised fireworks in the first place.

Etta Sue, we recently bought a new Hoover vacuum that is pretty light.  We ordered it off the Internet on Friday or Saturday and got it on Wednesday of the next week.  I think we paid somewhere in the range of $60 for it and it really seems to work well.  If you would be interested in more information just e-mail me and I will sent you more information on it and the link to where we bought it.

Ruth Ann, sure glad to read your son is feeling better and up to a home improvement project.  Glad your consultant project is working out and you will meet your deadline.

Hope this is a good Sunday for everyone.  It is going to be sunny here today and up in the higher 80s.

Samantha

Good morning all!

I have a praise report that I just have to share!!

Thursday, Terry, me and the kids went to the local beach for the day.  We got there at 9 am.  Put up the EZ up canopy, had the cooler with food and drinks, and planned to spend the day.  Olivia didn't want to get in the water, she didn't even wear her swim suit, just tshirt and shorts.  She stayed under canopy.  After about 2 hrs, she decided swimming looked like fun, but I forgot to put sunscreen on her fair skin.  Bad mother, me!  We stayed at the beach until 3 pm!  We all were cooked by then!  Her face especially. Yesterday, it was starting to bubble up across her cheeks and nose and looked really really bad.  I thought I might need to take her to the drs.  But, by 5 pm the redness was almost completely gone, the bubbles had come down, and she looks great!  Now, who did this for her?  Our heavenly Father, of course!  I was concerned about her skin, and He took care of it!  We were eating at our favorite Mexican restaurant, and I was looking at her and realized what He had done, and I could have shouted all over the place!  I teared up though and Terry looked at me with the "I know" look!  It was great!  God is so good!!!  I just had to share!

Everyone  have a great day!

Later,
Samantha

Good Sunday morning to all!  To those overseas, good afternoon! The first thing I did today was look out the front walkway and tried to see if there are ten ducklings hatched.  Not yet.

Colin:  Did you send your Irish morning here?  We have clouds.

Gord:  Thinking of you and your family.  Isn't it lovely that you have family so close?

Larry:  Oh, computer woes.  Woot had a sale on a Sony laptop this week for $500 and I was so tempted but held back because we are spending so much just moving.  We close on our place here in Fort Collins on July 21st. and close on the patio home in Highlands Ranch on August 1st. but do not move until the end of August.  We are accomodating both the seller and the buyer as we couldn't think of any reason to not.  There will be more space on the main floor and still a big basement for Don to work at one end and I will be sewing downstairs.  There is a fireplace in the basement along with a guest bedroom and bath so plenty of room for visitors.   :)  It is a quiet neighborhood like this one and we are going with the attitude that we will like being so much closer to the children and grands that everything will be alright - next to church hunt and they seem to have a lot of mega churches.  We will visit several denominations in the area and one community church.  I will miss my quilting group terribly and just trust that there will be something for me - and I know there must be a reason we are being drawn this way.

Time to get ready.

Samantha:  You posted right now and I am so happy for your story this morning.  Blessings to you and Olivia - I love her name.

I went to church and Sunday School with Ivalou this morning.  Then seven ladies went out to eat.  I told Ivalou that my plan is to attend her church the month of July.  If I miss my church, I will go back there.  If not, I will change my membership.  Reason?  The cost of gas and higher prices everywhere.  It costs me $10 to drive to my church.  I truly know more people at Clarksville Christian Church since I grew up with most of them.  And eating out later with someone rather than by myself, I really like.  And I can hear the sermons from Park Chapel on their website.  I am not unhappy with my church...just need to be more efficient with saving gas and money.

Kitty is to call me and I am to go to her house this afternoon to matte my State Fair photo entries.  Then I want to help her with her computer.  Seems when she wants to print anything from her new computer, an error comes up and if she prints, it is really dark.  So she took relevant words from the error and put in Google search and it is a PHotoShop CS3 error.  So if we can't fix it today, she will call Adobe PHotoShop tomorrow and maybe they can walk her through it.  She just called.

:)     Good afternoon to all.  Praie his name for ever.  We had a very exciting morning at our church service.  We had 3 people from Cuba who are wonderful Christians and they are so on fire for the Lord.  The man who brought the morning message was so powerful I thought he was going to come of the platform.  I believe he is in charge of all the churches that are part of the Brethren in Christ Churches in Cuba it was a wonderful service and I am glad that My wife and I did not miss it.

For this afternoon it is our church family picnic so we are going to that and also my daughter and son-in-law and of course my grandson are coming.  So it should be a good time.

Hope you all have a wonderful week and God Bless.  Gord. :coffee:

Hallelujah!!  I'm free!  No more work for 12 days, then one day per week for the rest of July!!  :D

It is really dry here in Kansas, and so hot that if we had popcorn, it would probably be popping in the fields.  Then the cows would think it was snow and freeze to death!  ;)

I am ready for a nice Sunday afternoon nap!

The service was very good this morning, Pastor David taught on Jesus being the Lord of the Sabbath and how the Pharisees were always  trying to  catch him doing things on the Sabbath. But Jesus being God, could do anything he wanted to do on the Sabbath since he is the one who made all the rules to begin with.  The  Pharisees  just kept adding more and more to the  law until it was difficult for the people  to obey. It was a very interesting take on it.

Ah, Lord of the Sabbath!  And what a blessed celebration the Sabbath was supposed to have been!  It was to be a mirror of Our Lord's own Sabbath in creation - a look back on what He had made and a pronounciation of "Very Good" upon it  all.  And now we too can look back on what we've attempted to accomplish and pronounce it very good also, for our Lord will perfect it all eternally!  How different such a celebration would be from that which the Parisees, etc. made into such a hard law.  For us, too, it should be a celebration of the wonderful and eternal rest brought in through our Saviou's work!

Pat

Well, I've been absent!  Sorry.

Had some problems on my other site and dealing with them have taken up much of my time and then we went to Winchester and Berryville for July 4 and 5 and today we had a wonderful morning service in Temple Baptist Church hear here and then this afternoon, Paul was speaking at the Spanish Group he used to attend years ago.  They had a lovely Pot Luck and grill and lots of Spanish singing of wonderful choruses and hymns.

Now, it's time to head to bed.

Hi everyone.  I see I am first on this Monday morning.  It looks like it is going to be a clear and sunny day here.

At the last minute we decided not to attend church yesterday but when down to Atlanta to our daughter's apartment and took her the laptop and set it up.  I started to try and set up a wireless system for her but was running into difficulties and decided we didn't need the extra hassle of using wireless.  I had taken an extra long ethernet cable with me which works fine and gives her flexibility.  I worked on the computer situation for about 5 hours and then said that was enough and we had to come back home.

The problem came in trying to get her Magic Jack telephone to work and I never was successful even though I spent about 2 hours or more online with the live chat person from Magic Jack.  Fortunately, she now has Skype available to call here so we can stay in touch that way.  The Skype now gives us an alternative in that we could use the $10/month service so she can call any telephone and you can also get a special Skype phone.  I will try to work more today the Magic Jack problem using the LogMeIn feature that lets me work on her computer from long distance.

I do have a luncheon appointment with 3 other men friends.  We are going to a buffet called the Green Tomato.

Good to read all the postings and see positive things being reported by Samantha and others.  Carol, thanks for the information on your move.  Your new place sounds great.

Janet, glad those long work sessions are over for you.  Hope you will give yourself permission to take time for yourself and to play.

Pat, it sounds like you have had your hands full.  Hope the problems with the website are all worked out.  Sounds like you had a great 4th weekend.

Marilyn

Good Morning everyone. Last evening there was another very loud boom and both dogs scooted off to the bedroom, Happy under the bed and Bebe on top of the bed. They didn't come out te rest of the night, Bebe got me up at 2 am to let her out.

Fog here this morning but I reckon it will burn off  later this morning.

Larry you are so patient when it comes to working on computers, I know Stacey appreciates all you do for her.

Janet How is Beth? I pray she is feeling better and getting over that flu. Glad to hear that you don't have to work for12 days.

Pat what is the weather like where you are in Virginia, and how do Geordie and Lauren like their new digs?

Next time Keith comes for a visit his is going to bring his cat, to introduce her to my dogs while she is still in her crate, She is declawed so we will have to watch the dogs closely until they get used to her.

Kitty and I worked on matting my photos yesterday afternoon.  We ruined two big matte boards of mine.  Why?  Her matte cutter is out of square.  One end would be 16"...the other 15 7/8".  Then the next board would be 16 1/8".  So she was going to go to Indy to buy a new matte cutter but they were closing in 10 minutes.  So if he husband can get the matte cutter squared up, okay.  But if not, she is going to purchase a new cutter.

Then we worked on her computer.  If she sends a picture to her laptop....which is soooo slooooow...she can print a good picture on her printer.  But printing on from her new computer...in PhotoShop or Snapfish, she gets dark prints.  An error window comes up when she tries to print from PhotoShop but not Snapfish.

So I came home to have popcorn and a coke and watched a rerun of Extreme Makeover--Home Edition.

Ivalou and I are going to have our driveways resealed.  So I asked Kaye Don if he wanted his done.  The same guy doing all three will give us good discounts.  Every little bit helps.

It looked like rain earlier but now the sun is shining.  I trimmed my trees earlier this year but they are hanging down again and I hit them when I am mowing and driving on my drive.  Time to trim again.  May do that this afternoon.  Also need mower gas$$$$$.
