Morning Devotional...

Psalm 29

Various people in the world believe in gods who bring about particular wonders.  In David's majestic psalm, we see a glorious God Who is over ALL things.

The imagery is powerful, particularly for those who have observed such natural disasters as raging floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.  Those who sing (the "mighty ones" = warriors of the army) are exhorted to praise Jehovah - the One Who is truly over ALL things in nature.  They should praise Him "in the beauty of holiness," because they should know Him as the only true God.  They should not to be like the world that believes in many gods.  Instead, they are "holy." "Holiness" just means separateness, uniqueness, and it's the privilege of Israel - uniquely - to praise the true God .

So - Who controls the mighty forces of the floodwaters or the roaring torrents that seem so uncontrollable?  God's people know the answer. They sing, "The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders; the Lord is over MANY waters.  The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of MAJESTY!"

Then the next few verses, full of powerful imagery about earthquakes, splintering of great trees, dividing of otherwise indivisible flames of fire, stripping bare of forests, and forcing the sudden birth of deer calves - are calculated to move the worshippers to a sense of awe and reverence before the power of the true God of nature!

Having that awe in their hearts, the people would then  be really ready to sing!  They'd joyfully sing, "The Lord sat enthroned at the flood (the great flood of Noah's day), and the Lord sits as King forever!  The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace!"  They're just saying that the great GOD of awesomely powerful works, the GOD Who has been Lord from the beginning and will be Lord to the end - is the God Who is so great that He can also give them perfect peace in the midst of all their enemies!

How about you?  Are you adequately awed at the immense and glorious works of God that are around you every day - the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, etc., etc.?  These are actually the works of the Agent of creation - your SAVIOR!  Jesus Christ is Lord of all!  His works therefore are meant to move you to praise and thanksgiving, because, though they reveal a majestic Lord, yet they also reveal a Lord Who cares for YOU!
Al Moak

Here's a hymn that reflects these thoughts.  Just click to hear the music.

Crown Him with Many Crowns
(Click to hear music)

His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns;
and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
Revelation 19:12

Author:  Matthew Bridges, 1800-1894, and
Godfrey Thring, 1823-1903
Musician:  George J. Elvey, 1816-1893

Crown Him with many crowns, The Lamb upon His throne;
Hark! how the heav'nly anthem drowns All music but its own.
Awake, my soul, and sing Of Him who died for thee,
And hail Him as thy matchless King Thro' all eternity.

Crown Him the Son of God Before the worlds began:
And ye, who tread where He hath trod, Crown Him the Son of man;
Who ev'ry grief hath known That wrings the human breast,
And takes and bears them for His own, That all in Him may rest.

Crown Him the Lord of love! Behold His hands and side,
Rich wounds, yet visible above, In beauty glorified:
No angel in the sky Can fully bear that sight,
But downward bends his wond'ring eye At mysteries so bright.

Crown Him the Lord of life, Who triumphed o'er the grave,
And rose victorious in the strife For those He came to save;
His glories now we sing Who died, and rose on high,
Who died, eternal life to bring, And lives that death may die.

Crown Him the Lord of years, The Potentate of time,
Creator of the rolling spheres Ineffably sublime!
All hail, Redeemer, hail! For Thou hast died for me:
Thy praise shall never, never fail Thro'out eternity.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is going to be another hot and steamy day here in Georgia as it is in a lot of other places in the country and sounds like the same in Canada (or was).

Pat is off for a blood test and to see the doctor.  She had spoken to our daughter this morning, who had gone to her work only to find the seasonal employees had been furloughed until the next tax season.

She was exhausted and asked if we would come down to Atlanta this afternoon and take her to her afternoon doctor's appointment regarding the infection she has (cellulitis).  She was tired and short of breath in trying to get home from her work.  However, when I got home from coffee and walking this morning and talked with her she was back in her apartment and was feeling better.  She said she didn't think it would be necessary for us to come down after all to take her.

She had had to bring all of her things home from her job today and with the effects of the strong antibiotics, followed by an oral antibiotic over the weekend, she thought that was the cause of the tiredness.  I left it with her that we still would be willing to come if she needs us but it is her decision.  I will know after lunch.

I thought I had a luncheon planned with a couple of friends but that has been postponed until next week.  So, unless we have to go to Atlanta, I will be able to stay in where it is nice and cool the rest of the day and evening.

I am trying to help Pat with some laundry as know she will be beat from her trip to the doctor.

Al, that is a wonderful devotional today on the awesome power of our God.

Pat, it sounds like you all had a scary time last evening regarding the tornado situation.  Sure glad you were all right and no damage in your area.  There is a lot of bad weather still in the midwest part of the country.

Janet, sorry to hear you have exhausted yourself and hope you can find sometime for some rest.  Are you using your garage for the large family gathering or for dining tables or something?  (As they say, inquiring minds want to know-whether it is any of my business or not).  :)

Marilyn, the lasagna sounds good.  That is what I had to eat on Friday night when we went out with friends and again on Saturday night from the left overs.

Etta Sue, I read about the concern for license plates being stolen and know that siphoning will probably become more of a problem.  Fortunately, our cars stay in our garage most of the time but know a lot of people don't have garages or, if they have them, can't get their cars in them because of other stuff stored in them.  We have a Kroger gas station nearby and after you spend $100 in groceries during a month you can get 10 cents off your next fill up.  Yesterday we took both cars and worked around to fill them from the same transaction.  It saved about $1.10 on the $70 plus we spent to fill both cars.

Ruth Ann, it sounds like you had a busy day yesterday.  Hope you enjoyed every minute of it.

Etta Sue

The mystery is solved.  While I was gone, Kaye Don and Barb were getting Ivalou and my mail and newspapers.  I forgot about it until 9pm last evening.  So today when I took the trash to Kaye Don's drive, I went in to get my stuff.  No one home but I know where the key is hidden.  I looked and looked and couldn't find my stuff.  I called Ivalou and she gave me Kaye Don's cell number.  Called him.  They were at the hospital getting Barb pre-registered for surgery next week.  He told me several places to look...no mail.  I stopped at Ivalou and she went back with me.  Still no mail so we decided to look in their trash out by the road.  Still no mail.  So I came home.

The door bell rang.  Kaye Don with my mail and newspapers.  Where was it?????  In the backseat of their car.  Seems that after the hospital they thought they would go to their Navy granddaughter's who just got in from Japan and take this bag of stuff.  Barb got the wrong bag.  I don't know when they discovered it.  But I have my mail and newspapers.

Tonight is Kilbuck Photo Guild and it is to rain!

Hot in Indiana....flash flood warnings.  86° and more rain tonight.  When I went to bed last night, it was hotter in Indiana than it was in Los Mochis, Mexico AND Lihue, Hawaii!!!

Not many posts today, at least not yet.

To answer your question, Larry:  We are having nearly all the activities for the reunion in our garage.  It is 100 feet long, and with a garage door on each end, it is pretty cool in there.  We moved SOOO much stuff out of there, cleaned and painted (two coats) the floor, etc.  Now we have tables and chairs set up, the juke box is working, we have lighting going.  Plus, we have really worked on the "canning kitchen" in the end of the garage, and now it is a complete kitchen, with cabinets and all.  So it should be pretty handy.  Today I helped with the funeral dinner at church, came home tired, took a little nap, got up and did a bunch of cooking.  I made three batches of brownies, a batch of puppy chow (good snack and kids love it!) and a batch of peanut butter no bake cookies.  So I have a good start on the goodies.  I went to the store and bought ingredients for salads and will make those up on Thursday, probably.

Pat, are you and Paul staying in Guelph for a while?  Where will be your primary residence?  As Larry said to me, inquiring minds want to know!  ;)

I still have to clean up my studio and get it ready for all the arts and crafts projects for reunion.

Larry, I hope Stacey is much better and that you didn't have to make the trek to Atlanta, but know you would if needed.

I'm a little concerned about Beth being here for three days.  Mom called today and said they had problems with her, just going to Alco.  Something about not being able to get her foot on the platform of her chair.  She thinks I need to hire nurses to be here to take care of Beth, but I really don't think that is necessary, plus there aren't any available!!

See you all tomorrow!

Al, thank you for that good devotional.

Well, I've enjoyed catching up with news from lots of you.

The day will begin tomorrow at "oh-dark-thirty!" Translated, that's 6:30 a.m. Our company chairman will be at a hotel near our office building to discuss plans and ideas, and there's to be a breakfast beginning at 7:00. Well, to get a handicapped slot so I won't have to walk more than my leg can do, I have to get there early and hope all the slots aren't taken yet.

So, have laid out my clothing tonight, will shower before going to bed, and hope to be able to head toward the hotel about 6:00 or so tomorrow morning. Yikes! That's mighty early for this ole gal.  :P

I printed out the directions for setting up a homemade planting pot to plant tomatoes hanging upside down. I saw it when someone showed photos of some Alaskans who raised their tomatoes this way.

And, my son has the stuff needed to transform a plastic "bucket" that used to contain dry laundry detergent into such a pot without paying the huge prices the garden stores are asking for them.

That should make an interesting thing for us to do this summer, and also provide us with good tomatoes for salads, sandwiches, soups, stews, pizza, spaghetti, etc. :)

The mailbox my hubby set up for us about 45 years ago has finally begun to deteriorate. So, we finalized getting all the things needed to set another one in its place this evening. Soon, I won't need to "hang my head" when getting the mail. :)

Y'all have a great rest of the day.

Al, I so appreciate the Psalm study today.  What a great description of how all nature should worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!  Amen!  Oh, that we will be adequately awed at the immense and glorious works of God that are around us every day - the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, etc. as you suggest above.

Thanks so much.

Hi everyone.  Just watching the news this morning about the terrible flooding in the midwest.  The heat is unpleasant in other parts of the country but doesn't destroy everything in its path as a flood often does.  Our drought continues down here.  The very hot days don't help the ground situation.

I think I missed going to have my pacemaker checked yesterday.  I just now looked at the card and it said the appointment was on Monday, June 8.  Will the 8th was Sunday.  Anyway I will have to call and see if I can get it changed.  I will try for the end of the week as will be making a trip down to that exact area to pick up our daughter, who is coming out for Father's Day.

Speaking of our daughter, she saw the doctor yesterday and he said her foot was a lot better.  We did not have to go down yesterday and she was able to make it on her own.

Janet, that sounds like a wonderful place to have your get together.  I am sure the jukebox will be enjoyed as well.  I do hope tending to Beth isn't too difficult for you.

Etta Sue, glad you found your mail.

Ruth Ann, hope your meeting has gone well today.  How many more days of work do you have?

Hi Pat and Gord and all who visit here today.

Have a great day everyone.

God bless everyone this morning,
Al that was an awesome devotional!  Everything should reflect the glory of God and the work of the son Jesus Christ (us included)!
We lost power Sunday afternoon here in Lk. Orion MI. but the power came back on about three in the morning, that is a blessing.....many others have as of yet no power around the Detroit metro area...
Pat I believe that I may have passed by you in Guelph, We come across from Sarnia to thousand Island bridge to get to upstate N.Y. and if my memory is still sharp, we pass by Guelph while in canada!
I know it is beautiful country around there.  I have a friend named Sue who recieved devestating news, she has cancer found in her bones stage 4, she is a sister in Christ but when you pray please remember her and her husband Tim, it is critical at this point for them, Sue is about 40 years old, which makes this even harder for her friends to accept....thanks everyone I will let them know that you are all praying for them as well....

Happy Birthday, Pat!!

Well, I almost made it home last night before the heavens opened up!  Almost.  I stopped at the mailbox to get my mail and almost drowned.  What a downpour.  I had to stay in the garage for awhile before running to the house.  Even with the umbrella, I got soaked!  And the biggest lakes so far are around the house!

Hope it dries out by tomorrow so I can mow...

Hi Larry...

Yes, you were just about 15 km from my home down on Highway 401 just after Kitchener/Waterloo.  Now, if we had known, we could have met for a coffee!

I will be praying for your friend Sue and her husband.  What terrible news.

Pat!  Do you still have BIRTHDAYS?!  Don't you realize what a mistake you're making?  If you do THAT, you'll get OLDER!  Well, may it be happy anyway!

Thanks Colin and Al!

Yep, Thinking of that "getting older" stuff, Al!  Maybe I'll cut them out now.

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PAT!!  REMEMBER, YOU ARE OLDER THAN ME!

I hope you are having a perfectly lovely day.  I don't know anyone who deserves it more.

Well, I should have listened to all your warnings about taking it easy, etc.  I wound up having to go to the doctor today, and I have dust pneumonia.  :P  I just feel yucky, tired, coughing up junk, etc.  So I have pills and an inhaler, and three days to get well before reunion!!  Prayers will be so appreciated.

Mom's only living sister called last night, and she and her husband will be here for the reunion.  I'm so glad, as I know it will mean a lot to Mom to have her here.

I have some typing to do.  I'm making a sort of quiz about Mom, it will be fun to see how much different family members know about her past.

Ruth Ann, those upside tomato plants sound intriguing.  What do you hang them from?  Is there a web site that shows them?  Don't make your days too long, you might end up like me!

See you all later.

Don't you DARE cut out those birthdays, Pat!  We want you here, and if you stop having birthdays..........well.......you know the rest.  And besides, if you stopped, I would soon get older than YOU!   ;)

Yes, here's where I found the information, Janet:

Oh, dear Pat, I'm so sorry I missed your birthday. But, since I've decided to not grow older until ALL the celebrating for a particular birthday is over, then you haven't gone up a year yet, that will happen when the last birthday card is received, the last birthday celebration dinner, etc. :)

Larry, I forgot to count the working days left till retirement. Most likely I won't be working much past July the 18th, for the next week my son will be in from England, and then the following week will be saying my goodbyes and getting ready for and having the knee replacement.

The meeting went well today, but I was so exhausted that I left at 4 pm - just too tired to continue. And, day after tomorrow, I'll be in another meeting beginning at another hotel near my office building at 7:15. So, I guess I just have to "sleep fast" the next few nights.

Larry, I understand about the young age of your friend with cancer. My hubby died at age 38. Had he lived, we would celebrate our 49th anniversary this week.

Etta Sue, keep those duck shoes handy! :)

Marilyn, good to see you and Gord and Colin and Nita and Judy and Jane and so many others that I forget to call you by name.

Y'all have a wonderful rest of the day with our beloved Lord.

Well, your birthDAY is almost over so Happy Birthnight.  ;D  Day or night.......this is your day.   God chose just this day to let you be born on earth.

Hi everyone.  We are suppose to be a tad cooler here today, only in the upper 80s and that will be a welcome relief.  I had a quiet day yesterday and enjoyed it.

Today is Bible study morning with the pastor and then choir this evening.

Pat, I am sorry I missed seeing that it was your birthday so here is a belated birthday wish.  I love my birthdays as it means God has given me another series of days to live from the time of my last birthday.  Did Paul bake you a cake?

Janet, sorry to hear of the illness but guess that explains why you are not feeling well.

Ruth Ann, thanks for the information on your retirement date.  The days will fly by until then especially since you are facing knee surgery.

Larry, sorry to hear of your young friend with the cancer.  I will pray for her.

JudyB

I always thought that when you reach a certain age, perhaps 50 you start counting backwards so pat is fourty with ummmm how many years experience?

Damp cool day here, our garden is being ploughed, so we will plant on the weekend.

The puppies are HUGE.  They are two and a half weeks old and mommy is barely able to keep up.  one of them got into her food yesterday.  Poor wee girl she is eating and eating and getting skinnier.

Got to run much to do today.

Good Morning, It is cold here this morning. What happened to spring and summer? Winter has surely returned.

Nothing new here.

Did winter ever leave?  Still cold, still wet, no sunlight.  Same here also.....

One thing that has changed.  The floor people finally finished their work, with the use of numerous sub-contractors.  Months of horror, floors are beautiful.  Now the painter is to come back in July....much left undone, electrician.....?  Rae Ann, if you are considering work on your home, no matter if the trades are the best around, (as were these) do not believe anything they say about when the work will be finished....Or the damage they may do in the process!!

The gas prices has forced the Victoria Meals on Wheels, to cancel their work, after 35 yrs. of helping people.  Everything is becoming quite terrible.  Mills are closing, their products are becoming scarce (shavings, sawdust, etc.), causing more problems for other business, no end to these things it seems.  Nothing like the horrible things happening due to the weather in so many places.  I count my blessings each day.

I read this little prayer and find it most comforting.  We do not use Gregorian Chants in Baptist churches, or Evensong.  Some of the 16th century things are worth holding on to:

                             Compline

Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch,
or weep this night, and give your angels charge over
those who sleep.  Tend the sick Lord Christ, give rest to
the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the
afflicted, shield the joyous; and all for your love's sake.
Amen

                         :)

I am going to place this on my fridge and use it.  Quiet, meditative prayer, seems to have been lost in the noise these days.

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz

Well, I didn't go to bed until 3:30 yesterday morning and this morning it was 5:30am.  I have been searching for 'lost' classmates and I have found a few!  So I guess it was worth it.

I haven't had lunch yet and then I need to mow.

Come to Indiana if you want to warm up.  81° right now.

Hi everyone.  We finally had some rain last night.  I don't know how much but it started about 10:30 pm.  They indicate that we may have a lot of these popup storms due to the hot weather.  They usually occur during the night.

We are having only one more week of choir practice and then taking 4 weeks off for our summer break.  The practice next week will be short as we basically have the piece prepared and are working on a couple more to use when we start back in August.

I really have nothing special on the schedule today.  Pat is taking a class related to her new sewing machine (computer) and then having lunch with a friend.  So I will have the house to myself most of the day.

Yesterday I needed to get new batteries for our wireless phones.  However, when I found they were going to cost $18 each and we had 4 phones that needed them I decided to spend another $26 dollars and buy some new state of the art Panasonic phones.  I got them recharged and fixed the telephone book in them last evening.  Today I will get the bases for each setup.  These are Dect 6.0 phones and not suppose to be as influenced by interference.  They use rechargeable AAA batteries rather than a special battery and it doesn't hurt to leave them on the stand after they are charged, which I like.

I also got a set of headphones for the TV for Pat, whose hearing is a bit impaired.  Unfortunately I haven't been able to get them to work yet.  My son is going to call this evening and perhaps he will be able to help me.

Gord, I see you mentioned the call we enjoyed a couple of days ago.  It is very nice to talk with folks from CP.  I think we could have talked on for another hour.  He told me about the Mercy Ships work, a book about them, and gave me the website.  I looked at several videos they have on their website about their impressive work and the state of the art hospital ship they now have.

Janet, those calls from family mean a lot.  Sure glad you seem to be feeling a little better.  Don't forget to enjoy your family reunion when it occurs by being too busy or concerned about every detail.  It will all work out fine and whose to know if a few small details are not attended to.  It is the being together that is important.

Colin, isn't the weather usually a bit rainy over your way?  Are you getting rain at night.

Etta Sue, it sounds like you are getting your days and night mixed up.  :)

Judy, I bet those little pups are getting very cute about now.  Hope you are able to get your garden in the ground over the weekend.

Liz, it sounds like progress towards completion of the remodeling is taking place.  By this time next year it should all be a bad memory.

Hi Marilyn, wish I could share a bit of this heat with you all.

Time to head to coffee and some walking this morning.

Morn'in all.

Gord we are well.  John is still driving as you know, he is in Quebec today.

The girls are going to cadet camp for three weeks this summer, they are taking "Introduction to Leadership" in Trenton.  I will know their rank on Sunday, as that is the CO's dinner, and promotion day.

With the rising costs of fuel, lay off's,  plants shutting down and the rest of the "news" on the radio/TV today, it is easy to become fearful.  I believe it is time for us to remember the verse in Timothy.  "God has not given us the spirit of fear, but (rather) of love, power and of a sound mind."  Let's keep this in mind as we watch the discouraging world events.

Have a great day folks.

Good Morning, I am drinking nothing but water this morning as I am going for my Cholestrol screening this morning (Blood Draw). I am sure I will be hungry by the time I get to work. I am on my 3rd cup of warm water and my kidneys are floating.

Not much else new.

Enjoy your water, Marilyn.  I remember having those tests!

Larry, sounds like a good deal!  I just bought a battery for my phone a few months ago and it was expensive.

Well, we're having some good weather today. Maybe I'll try to get out and get some pics. There are some big white moths that fly around on the other side of the street.
They make good subjects.

    Peace out,

Heh, Marilyn, I went for my lab work today, too.  I had fasted since 5 last night, then on the way to the lab, I lost my mind (I can't understand why else I'd forget where I was going and that I was fasting)and popped a TicTac in my mouth.  I mentioned it to the tech, she called my doctor, and they canceled my blood test. :(  I'll have to go again in the morning, sans TicTac.  Mine is for cholesterol check too.

Colin, I so enjoyed your latest video.  The scenery is gorgeous.  I liked the close up you did of Jeanine so we could see her beautiful smile.

A nice day here.  Not too hot.  Not too cold.

Marilyn

It took 'em 4 tries to get blood from me and when she finally did  we got plenty out. The order was for LDL direct (Cholesterol), Vitamin D, and CBC.  weas due for them but was surprised by the Vit. D request. I really hope the Cholesterol numbers are down.
Well I gotta go take the dogs for their walks now.

Well, this must be the week to "donate." I'll go tomorrow to see if my anemia is under control enough to donate 2 pints of blood before the knee replacement.

My blood type is rare, and only my daughter inherited it - the boys all have their dad's blood type.

I'm just about wiped out this week. Today's meeting started at 7 am (and another one at 7 am tomorrow). Today's was with my boss and my major client - working out many of the details of my retirement and the client's ongoing needs. Tuesday's meeting started even before 7 o'clock!

So, I was wondering about just going in about that time each morning to coincide with Eastern time zone hours while everyone's trying at the very last minute to get my help on something.

Something troubles my neurologist about my latest blood test - he said he ruled out lupus, but that something's elevated on a test that helps define what's causing a person's neuropathy. Since my diabetes scores are so well controlled, he must have suspected something else, to decide to do that specialized 3-level test. So, now I need to see a rheumatologist to determine what of the 8-10 conditions he reeled off to me this score may mean. So, while I'm not getting extremely worried, still there's some cause for concern until it's defined more fully.

Oh, well, for today - I'm SO thankful that God sent his Comforter to be with me during that meeting, thta my mind was kept clear and I was able to fully participate in the meeting. Now, it's on to the rest of the final steps, I suppose. :)

Much love to all - Colin I've seen each of the videos until tonight, but just too tired --- many "miles" to go before I sleep yet tonight.

I whew I am tired again tonight and I have been at this computer since 3 this afternoon.

I went to 60 Chix and I am inviting all of my class members and their spouses to come here and have a picnic back in the woods.  I am asking each one to bring a main dish and a side dish to share and drinks for themselves.  One lady is bringing all the plates, plasticware and napkins.  I will furnish the tableclothes.  We have a pitcher pump that works now and an outhouse back there.  Now to pray for no rain the day or two before and the same day.  And that they show up!  It will be lots of fun.  There is even horseshoes for the men.

And since coming home, I have ran my photos through PSP, sent a long email to the class members who have emails.  Did all my general stuff and now ready to check out the new gallery and play my games.  The only light on in the house is here by the computer!!  Dark!!  And no TV for me tonight.  I will be heading to bed soon!!

:)   Good evening to all.  It seems that so many are so busy.
This week we are calling our house Bed and Breakfast as we are having so many stay over.

I ask  for a prayer request for myself as I have some kind of bug affecting my bowels and I cannot stay out of the washroom.  It is good that the wife and I are going to the doctor tomorrow so I hope that he can give me some antibiotic to clear this up but I would appreciate your prayers.  Thank you and now I am off to bed.
God Bless you all. :coffee:

Hi everyone.  Late last night we once again got some rain.  That is really a nice sound as we haven't heard it much.  I think about how dry we are and then see the terrible flooding that is occurring in Iowa and other states.

Yesterday Pat went to a class on using her fairly new Bernina sewing machine.  While she was there she decided to buy a new sewing table and chair to use with it.  I think we just stimulated the economy but certainly depressed our pocketbook.  I am happy for her to have it as she has talked about getting the table since getting her new machine  about  18 months ago.  It should be delivered and set up sometime early next week.

I had a quiet day yesterday after going to coffee and then went to Wal-Mart to get a few things.  I don't have much on the schedule for today except to pick up our daughter, who is coming for the weekend, at the bus stop about 6 miles from us.  I will also exchange the headset I got for Pat to use when watching TV.  I hope this the unit will work.  The store said it sounded like I had a bad unit.

Gord, sorry to read that you are not feeling well.  I know you have a busy weekend ahead with lots of company so need to be feeling well.

Etta Sue, you must have a lovely place for picnics.  It is nice you can get a lot of use of the area.

Ruth Ann, hope the doctor finds what is causing the abnormality in your blood.  It sounds like you are working too hard--don't forget you are retiring soon.

Marilyn, it sounds like your veins are like my wife's.  Her are very small and they also roll.  They always have trouble getting blood samples.

Nita, it is hard to understand why one Tic-Tac would throw off the test.  Of course, I am not a doctor.  I bet you don't forget today.

Scotty, hope you are able to get some good photos.

Pat, we really like our new phones.  The quality seems much better.  These are undoubtedly the best phones we have ever had.

Judy, you will be lost with the girls away to camp for so long.  Are these day camps or do they stay at the camp site?

Time to head to the Senior Center for the Friday men's coffee.  Hope everyone has a fine day.

JudyB

Larry They stay at camp for three weeks.  I know they will enjoy this time.

I have a big day today so gotta get.

Praying for the needs expressed.

JudyB

Pat

We have a big day ahead of us....

We'll be leaving for Virginia very early in the morning on Sunday via Ohio where we'll go to Linda's church for the morning service and then on to Virginia from there.

I'll have internet access though so it won't seem as if I'm away at all.

God bless you all.

Well another day has come and nearly gone.  And what a day it has been.  So busy

I have a lot to accomplish tonight at home, and while I am writing here there is a thunder storm raging at home, enough to freek out the girls.

I am not pushing to hard tonight, as it was a late night last night.  I was helping my boss prepare for a trip to San Antonio TX, for a husqvarbna convention.  She was wanting to have a pair of coulottes made for the trip and after a long night and even longer day they are done.  Whew, I do know she appreciates it.

I am off.  Keep safe everyone.  Have a great weekend.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is a bit cooler here now and we are anticipating rain later today.  They are saying our drought situation is as bad or worse than it was last year.  We need lots of rain to refill the lakes.

Our daughter came out on the bus yesterday and got to the bus stop around 4 pm.  I took her to the chiropractor and we were home by 5  or a little after.  After dinner we watched the "Alvin and the Chipmunks" movie, which is very cute and you get some chuckles from it.

Not much on the schedule today other than a meeting this morning and, of course, having coffee.  I think we are changing our meeting place to McDonald's as the cafe has once again raised their prices along with the fact that a couple of our group really prefer McDonald's because it is cooler and you don't smell the food being prepared as you do at the cafe where a lot of it is fried.

I replaced the defective headset for Pat to listen to the TV and while the replacement works, the sound is not loud unless you turn up the volume on the TV, which defeats the purpose for which I got them as I wanted quieter sound and she could use it louder.  So I will return them to Radio Shack.

Pat and Paul, I am assuming that you will be traveling together since you spoke of we.  I had thought that Paul had gone on earlier in the week.  Anyway, hope you have a great trip back to your new home in Virginia.

Judy, I hope you find some time for yourself while your girls are at camp.  It sounds like you maintain a very busy schedule.

Etta Sue, sure wish you could send some of that rain our way.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends, well, my little white truck has been showing its age lately, so after searching and searching, and thinking about affordability and the things I need in a vehicle, I decided on a PT cruiser. It sure is comfortable and also seems to do all the things needed.

Imagine, driving an auto again after about 16 years of driving small trucks...what a change that's gonna be!

Larry, the countdown is really on, now. By the time I subtracted the week I'll be off because of my son's visit from England, and 2 sick days there at the end for my knee replacement, there's only 26 working days left.

Seems like just yesterday I was applying for my first student secretarial position 50 years ago this month.

How does life happen so fast!?

Y'all have a great day with our Lord.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

I, too, wish I could send some of the wetness somewhere else.  But I also realize there are many others with worse rain problems than we are having here in Central Indiana.  Even Columbus, Indiana, just south of me about 50+ miles is having lots of flooding problems.  The High School gymnasium had a foot or more of water in it!!  And many homes  with water in them.

Ivalou and I went out to breakfast this morning.  She still has Lydia, 9 years old with her.  Looks like Lydia is bored already with g'ma.  And her Mother isn't coming to get her until next Friday.  Myself, I think she is pulling g'ma's chain...seeing what she can get by with.

Tony and Charlene left on their cycle yesterday morning for Blue Ridge Parkway with her brother on a cycle and her dad on a cycle.  Tony can send me emails from his cell phone.  Last night's message was 'Weston, West Virginia'.  This morning was 'Raining'.  I can send reply with 150 or less characters and spaces.  Convenient.

Bright and sunny today.  It is suppose to get to 87°.  With all this moisture everywhere it sure will be hot and sultry this afternoon!! You walk in the grass and it is squishy!  And where water has stood, it smells awful...stagnate water!

Howdy, I have been watching some movies this morning, the Satellite company is having a free weekend for all the premium channels. Etta Sue I watched our favorite movie, ya know which one!!

Sorry I could not get here yesterday, I had computer problems due to a security program that Earthlink insisted I needed. Well that program lasted overnight, It took my computer an hour to boot up and I kept getting kicked off. So I called them and  told them  what to do with that security program, and removed it. I even had to call a Dell tech and have  him go into my computer and  fix it so I could defrag,  it took an hour and a half for the checkdisk to fix all the problems. Now it is almost as fast as when it was new.

I took Savannah shopping for her Birthday presents yesterday at Target. She is becoming a little lady, she no longer can shop in the girls dept has to shop in Jr's.

Not a lot on my agenda today. Giving the house a lick and a promise as far as cleaning goes. Will  straighten up more before I leave on Thursday. I know I will have to clean again as soon as I get home with the dogs running in and out for 10 days.

Jeannine

Good evening all,

Sorry I have not been in much at all lately, I did make it home safe and everyone seemed ok. Last Saturday we ended up taking my husband to the emergency room, he was admitted with septic arthritis in his left knee. They did surgery Sunday to clean it out and found a torn miniscus and fixed that. They didn't know if he would come through the surgery, Thank God he did. Now he is on very strong antibiotics as the infection is now in his blood stream. He is feeling terrible and having other problems. They will have to take out the rest of his teeth, a source of infection, and also place a feeding tube. He has no strength and no weight, about 100 lbs, skin and bone. He will be in the hospital another 2 weeks or so and then to rehab/nursing home. It is still not good, but each day is another chance to hope and pray.

My visit with Colin and his family was awesome. They are wonderful. And the scenery was exactly what Psalm 29 talks about in all creation praising our wonderful Saviour. It is breath taking and awe inspiring, and I am so thankful God allowed me to go and see His beauty, in the land and in Colin and his family. And for providing a restful beautiful place to take a holiday. We had a wonderful time exploring the places he video'd and then discovering places he didn't know were there. It was awesome.

I am sorry I have not addressed each one, I have read and prayed and will continue to pray. I have just been so busy getting back into the "swing" of things and picking up where I left off.

I pray you all have a God filled and blessed restful evening and Lord's day. Take care.

Still Trusting in Him,
Jeannine
Psa 18:2  Jehovah is my strength, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock; I will trust in Him; He is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

Hi everyone and Happy Father's Day to the Fathers here on CP or related to those on CP.  We have enjoyed the weekend with our daughter.  Today she is attending church with us and later this afternoon we will go out for a Father's Day dinner.  Pat made a good meal last night of baked ham, Silver Queen sweet corn and green beans.  It was a very good meal.

We had a very nice rain here yesterday.  Not sure how much but may have been close to an inch of rain.  My friend, who lives fairly close by, said he had an inch of rain in his gauge.

I keep seeing the pictures of the terrible flooding in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and around DesMoines and know that soon Missouri will be getting flooding as well as on down the MIssissippi river.  Etta Sue, sure glad you are not having flooding even if you are getting tons of water.

Jeannine, nice to see you posting again.  So sorry to read of the terrible health situation your husband has.

Marilyn, I used to have Earthlink DSL and had an occasion or two where they changed something and I had problems.  I remember one particular problem where I couldn't access my e-mail.  Glad you got the problem fixed.

Ruth Ann, I hope you like your new auto.  I am sure it will be a change from your pickup.  The days will tick by quickly now that there are less than 30 working days left for you.

It looks like it is going to be a lovely day that God has provided for us here in Georgia.

Marilyn

Good Morning an Happy Father's Day to all our CP Father's.

I am ready for church about 3 hours early. IIt doesn't start until 10 AM.

Most of you will remember Fay, whom I used to work for. She will be 99  next month. She called the other night to tell me her 57 yr old nephew passed away. Such sad news, She has outlived all of her immediate family and some of the next generation too. Her nephew that lives not far from me has lost his mother, father and brother in the last two years. Please remember Fay and her family in prayer.

Not much on my agenda today, after church I will walk the dogs.

We are having a 4-week series of sermons on 'I My Neighbor'.  We say we our neighbor but do we really deep down?  Gut feeling?  I doubt if any of us can say that for all our neighbors.

Yes, Marilyn.  I know the movie.  I know it well.  And probably all the oldies on here know the movie, too.  I still think it is a great feel good movie.  Maybe you have to be single to appreciate it....and a woman.

I have one phone call to make and then I feel a nap coming on.  Too hot to be outside even to read.

It has certainly been a nice day with our Lord today. The sun is shining brightly and it's warm, but the humidity is not very high. That's a rarity here in Nashville, so I'm extremely thankful.

Well, a friend of many years loves purple, so, in honor of my friend Jozelle, I've named my little Cruiser "Josie." I called Jozelle last night and she got a big laugh out of it, after she finally got around to understanding that I really DID get a purple car.

Jeannine, so great to learn that you had such a wonderful time visiting Colin's great family. It's good to hear from you again. I'm certainly sorry for your husband's health difficulties. I empathize with you and will pray with you for him and for your entire family.

G'day, friends.

Hello everyone;

I just got done mowing the lawn next door. I've never done his lawn. (I'm just about ready to pass out)  ;D :D

But on the plus side, I got my Gallery albums exactly the way I want them. So people can post comments, rate files, and all that fun stuff.

ScottyBoy

Oh yeah! We got two more cute little parakeets for my dad on friday, as a Fathers Day present. His birthday was also last week. ( I don't know if I told you guys about that or not)

Nita

Ruth Ann!!  A purple car??!!  That's so cool.  A car for a princess, child of the King.  I wish you could send a picture.  I love purple, but I've never seen a purple car.   It's getting closer and closer.  I'm so happy for you.  We've walked this 'retirement in the wings' trail with you for so long, it's almost like the excitement is mine too. :)  I feel it for you.  Retired and a purple car to boot.  Yep!  You are celebrating.

Scotty, I still haven't gotten anything in the gallery yet.  I keep thinking I will, but I need to take some new pictures.  You are really on the ball!  Course being a YOUNG brother, you have scads of energy. haha. (except when you do the neighbor's lawn)

I hope your dad likes his new parakeets.  What color are they?  Maybe I'd better to check your albums and see if you've posted some pictures of them?

It's been so beautiful here today.  I've been working out in the yard most of the day.  I mowed yesterday, so did damage to the weeds today.  Did some weed eating, weed pulling, and raking too.  I know how you feel, Scotty.

Etta Sue, your post got to me.  I've always gotten along with my neighbors, but the neighbors behind us, new neighbors, have a Pit bull that jumped the fence and attacked little Rocko who was trying to defend us.  That was about the 5th or 6th time she'd jumped the fence and every time someone would get him back and say how sorry they were. My dogs always  ran in the house each time.  This time Rocko didn't.  Only after Rocko was attacked did they put wire above the fence to keep her in.  Now she comes and barks constantly and growls and jumps as high as she can to get over. She can't, but my dogs don't know that.   Rocko and Tyson won't even go outside unless I'm there.  I really have been praying that I have a good attitude.  What I really want is a 7 foot solid fence so they won't have to see that dog at all. :(   I need to pray for them, and for their dog(s) too.

Jeanine, I'm so sorry about your husband.  Good to see your name pop up.

Larry, I hope you had a nice Fathers Day dinner with your daughter.

Now, I'll get off here and go look at my yard work and feel rewarded. :)  Nita

Carol

Al:  I loved reading your devotions.  Especially so since we have been in Minnesota for three weeks - with the striking beauty, and a trip to the basement at cousin's house when sirens sounded as well.

:cheer: We are home & feeling better after fishing in northern Minnesota - in a plain cabin on a beautiful lake.  Only the radio and it didn't have much of national news, which is fine at times.  Miles from the nearest town of 500 people where we could get wi-fi.  Our house sold, or at least we have agreed.  Closing in July 21st. and we rent back until September.  This week, we start our house hunting.

I read your notes and send prayers for all.

Here, I hope Don is feeling more energy today.  He was so worn out from the drive and visiting.  My brother from Seattle drove to Minn. and we were with cousins & elderly aunties the last days - he was amazed at how everyone was so happy to see him.  And, to think he had not cared to visit - now, he may be back again.  One night the sirens sounded and we all headed for the basement.

Lots of rain, mosquitoes, and very cold.  We just loved all of it - well, it is a stretch to love mosquitoes.    I sewed pillow cases for gifts and we read and took walks between the rain showers.  We saw eagles, deer and listened to the songs from the Loons.  We hauled our son's motor and managed to get in on the boat and I have given orders that it was the last time we oldsters do such a fool thing as the car was up on a hill and carrying a boat motor down to the lake under soggy conditions wasn't the smartest thing we have ever done.

Back to near normal but now - to stay at one son's home and look for a house or condo.

ScottyBoy

Good luck with your house hunting, Carol!

Bright and sunny today after another rain storm last night.  Now there is water standing once again.

I had Ivalou and Lydia over for lunch today.  Lydia ate two plates of food.  Ivalou said it is the most she ate all week.  She says Lydia says she doesn't like this or that.  I think she is pulling G'ma's chain!  Yesterday morning the cinnamon toast didn't have enough sugar on it.  Today there was too much sugar.   ???

No wind this morning so I finally got Round Up put around trees and such.  Hope it works.  Hard on my back to Round Up but not as hard as weed eating.

A few more phone calls and I am done with them for awhile.  Hope they all answer.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I see it has been pretty quiet here in CP since yesterday morning.  I didn't have time to post early this morning as I usually do as had to leave about 7 to get our daughter to the bus stop to get the bus back downtown.  It costs her $3 for the roundtrip and there is no way I can drive her home for that as well as I don't have to spend the two hours in the process of coming and going.

I attended the board meeting for the Golden Olympics and then the regular members meeting that followed.  The meeting started at 8 and was finished by 11.  I then met a friend for a nice leisurely lunch at the airport cafe in our county seat, Lawrenceville.  By the time I got home it was 1:30 and the housekeeper was just about finished.  As soon as she left I had a nice nap and am looking forward to a nice quiet rest of the day.

Etta Sue, it sounds like you have Ivalou's granddauther pegged just right.  You all sure have had lots of rain.

Carol, glad to see you are home safe and sound and what a wonderful way to handle the process of the house showing in selling than to go away for a vacation.  Sure glad you found a buyer so soon.  Obviously you have a very nice house that was very pleasing to the prospective buyers.  This is a good time of the year to be selling.  It is nice that you have time to look around withouth having to be unduely rushed.  I was interested in your comment about your brother and his reaction to being with other family members.  This was the exact same experience I had with our family reunion and feel that others felt the same.  We had never all been together as a family since we were children and it was very special.  It is not likely it will happen again as we first cousins and spouses are in various stages of health and scattered all over the US, although there is a large group of them around the Denver area.

Nita, I don't think I could think very highly of a neighbor with a pit bull and one that barks all the time.  It is a shame that your own dogs cannot benefit from your backyard and, quite frankly, I wouldn't be very comfortable in my own backyard if I knew my neighbor had a pit bull.  Our daughter has a friend who has a growing pet bull puppy and she is afraid of it.

Scotty, is your dad a bird lover?  Has he had parakeets before?

Ruth Ann, I can just see you cruising around Nashville in Josie.  Are you going to get a purple hat to wear.  :)

Marilyn, sorry to hear about the death in Fay's family.  It was thoughtful of her to call you with the news.

My dad has never had birds before, but he sure loves them now!
