Oh, one more thing.  When it was flooding and power went off in thousands of homes, ours stayed working.

When the snow caused many more thousands to be without heat or power, we have the gas, and our power only went off for about 3 hrs. in the early morning, while we were sleeping.

So, no matter how frustrating things have been, there is so much to be grateful about.  We had lots of food, stayed warm, and even had TV.

:)  :)  ;)

Hi, Kids!  :)  How are you all doing today?  It's a frosty day here in Kansas, with some wind, but most of our little snow is gone.

I had a very nice surprize this afternoon.  My eldest sister, who lives in Nebraska, called and said they were about 20 miles from town, had we had lunch yet?  No, we hadn't, so after giving them time to go visit Mom and Beth for a few minutes at the Home, we met them and my sister Jeanie who lives here, at a new Mexican restaurant for lunch and a nice little visit.  They were enroute to Walsh, Colo. for a 90th birthday celebration for my bro-in-law's aunt.

Colin, I painted the little box cerulean blue, did the snowmen in white, shaded with unbleached titanium, and put various colors of hats and scarves on them.  They are sort of like us, different shapes, sizes and heights.  It turned out rather cute, I think.  I will go look at your slates as soon as I post this.

Liz, you are really having a winter, and the season hasn't even officially arrived yet, has it?  I do hope it and your mood clear up and stay sunny for a while.  Know you will be glad for Wendy and Ralph to get home.  Don't work too hard, now!

Kevin, I will listen to your advice on photography, and try my best to remember it, too!

I got my Christmas cards made yesterday.  They have a photo of my painting Cast the First Stone on them.  I like 'em!  :)

Okay, now I'm going to the gallery!

Just a quick hello....just want you to know my darling wife was nearly killed in a road accident tonight but mercifully God spared her and her cousin. No other person was killed either..thank the Lord. Marlene's cousin was driving the car and a lady came out of a side road at speed and smashed into them. Marlene took the full brunt of the impact and was jammed in the car. The fire brigade came and freed her and she and her cousin were taken to hospital. Thankfully the pair of them are now at home with no serious injuries. I think the seat belts and the air bags probably saved them from serious injury or even death. Needless to say we are all shook up but so thankful to the Lord for His mercy and protection. You will understand if I have not time to reply to your comments. God bless.

Ohhhh, Colin!  I am sitting here praising God for protecting Marlene and her cousin!  He is so great, and so all-deserving of ALL our praise and love.

God bless you and Marlene, and just take care of, enjoy, and thank God for each other and for the time you have left now to spend together, because of His great mercy.

How merciful and loving is our God!!  He has ALL things (and people and circumstances) in His control.  I am thankful with you, Colin, that your Marlene and her cousin as well as those in the other car were all spared and are able to glorify and give praise to God!  Take care and know that I am praying for you all that your frazzled nerves will be soothed with the Balm of Gillead.

Thank You, Father!  Our thanks are truly understatement, but You know our hearts.  Thank You for Your mercy and lovingkindness to Marlene and her cousin.  Your love, protection, and care are so wonderful!

Also - thank You, Father, for keeping the power on for Liz!

It's so wonderful that we can share both the goodness and mercy of our God, but we can also speak of our worries and fears and illnesses and this group loves and cares.

I'm so very thankful Marlene is OK. Also, Jane, that the chains were able to be returned, even though it took a bit of coaxing. Jane, don't think that just because we don't respond, no one cares. We love all the posts here - I read every one and then respond as I can.

We aren't allowed to participate in online discussions on my job, but occasionally I have a peek as a "guest" and then think and pray about the posts the remainder of the day as I work.

You've helped me pray for a situation one of my son's has dealt with - primarily out of control emotions. Well, God is really helping, as well as wise counseling from a professional. He and I had a 30 minutes one-on-one chat on the phone this evening, and I was so very grateful to see the spiritual and emotional maturity that's beginning to develop. Thank you so much for persevering with me in prayer about this situation. May God richly bless each one of you.

Beautiful, Ruth Ann ... I, too, rejoice in our Lord's protection, mercy and great love!  Our God is an AWESOME GOD indeed! And, I thank you for your loving comments. <3

I would also like to take this moment to puplicly thank you, Colin, for visiting my website and for your comments and emails.  It still amazes and puzzles me that anyone would be interested in this ... especially since I added the last page.  God knows ... I trust Him for every breath that I take and every moment He gives me on earth to praise Him and live in His presence.

I have unloaded given away the multitude of family photos and accumulation of "stuff."  Joy was the last to receive her batch.  Now all I have to do is organize and catagorize and mount in an album (or two) the photos from my childhood through the birth of my three girls, etc.  That can happen eventually ... I have the rest of my life, y'know.   ;)

I have no connection with Jean's kids or their families ... that, too, is in God's hands.  He knows all about it and will bring all things into alignment in His own good time.  I trust Him and await His leading.

Y'all take care now, y'hear?  I love all y'all and will be around as I can.

Ohhh, Goodness Colin.  Was it on the road out of the port?  There's some terrible bends on that.  I'm thanking the Lord that Marlene and her cousin are well.  Thanks for letting us know.  She's going to be sore though.

Well, what a busy day.  Janice arrived this morning about 10:30 and she's just gone home at about 9:30 pm so we had a lovely day together.

Colin thank God they are safe and  unhurt.

Hi Jane Good to see you posing again. I visited your website again. My you sound sad on your last page. I haven't done any work on mine in quite awhile. I should go save all the photos and put them on CD. I have too much stored in my computer that belong on C D's.

I got some bad new about one of my North Carolina Granddaughters, Please pray for  Kimberly she got herself into some trouble and is in jail for now, she is only 18. Also pray for Sarah she has had to take a leave of absence from the hospital because of her MS.

Not sad Marilyn ... realistic.   I have had to face the reality of life (and death) head on more than once.

I also have granddaughters (Jean's girls) who, although not in jail at the moment, are walking a very thin line and on the verge of being in trouble.  There is nothing I can do from this point but pray that God will protect them and bring them to their senses before they cross that line and have much to pay for.  I realize if their mother were still here they would have a far different story to tell...but she isn't here.  And God already knew that.  I trust Him and His plan for each of us.  All I have to do is follow!

Y'all take care now ....

Hi everyone.  I just took Pat up to the church as she had to be there early to help with the craft sale.  I tell you I have never seen so many pretty things as these ladies have made over the last several weeks and months.  In addition to the craft things there are a lot of baked goods and candies.  I sure hope they sell most of it as none of them have space to store the remainder until next year and there is no storage available for them at the church.  Pat wasn't feeling very good as her back and hips have been bothering her so will be glad when this is all over around 1 pm this afternoon (at least for another year).

I didn't want two cars at the church so decided to take her and then will go back for church this morning.  I am sure we will skip going out to eat as everyone will be tired.

We had a lovely evening last night as went to the Macaroni Grill with friends and then to their house for an hour or so of visiting and Betty had made homemade baked apples with caramel and nut sauce over them.  They were truly delicious.

Colin, I am so happy that God spared Marlene and her cousin as that sounds like a very bad accident.  Sure she will have some bruises and aches for awhile from it but glad there were no broken bones or last lives.  We have so many accidents around here as there are so many people on the roads and it just takes a moments carelessness.

About a week ago my heart doctor had me go off the new heart medince (Renexa) that he had put me on and back to the old one I had been taking.  Unfortunately I am not doing so well on this old medicine while on the new was getting along without any problems.  I sure hope when I see him right after the first of the year that he will put me back on the new medicine.  He didn't want me to stay on it as it is so new and there isn't much experience with the effects of it.

Marilyn, sorry to hear about your granddaughter and also the edge that your granddaughters are walking on Jane.  I have come to realize that it is probably always best to let a person face the consequences of his/her actions rather than to try to solve their problems, which doesn't work most often,  as I have done many times.  However, I know that it is hard on family and friends when loved ones get into trouble.

I have read all the postings but am not going to try to address everyone today.  Hope each of you has a blessed day and that we all will be looking for the many blessings that God provides for us each and everyday.

Colin

Hi everyone....Marlene and I would like to thank you all for your prayers and support and for all your kind words. Marlene spent a very sore and restless night. The only way she could get ease was lying on her back. I think it is better to dwell on how God spared her in His mercy and not what could have been which is altogether too dreadful and frightening to think about. Perhaps God will speak to people through this accident; of the brevity of life and how so quickly it could be snuffed out. I have the Christmas tree up and not a light or decoration on it..and I dont really care. Christmas is about the family and being together and I thank God with all my heart that the circle in our little family unit remains unbroken. I also saw two good sons caring and showing their love to their mother and it was very heart warming and touching. I am blessed to have such a close and loving family. Just in closing Pat...the accident happened on the road between Portglenone and Randalstown which we call the Largy Road. I do not know if you have ever been on it. Anyway...I am able to cook; clean; do the washing..hoover etc..so we are ok!
Thank you all once again for all your prayers. I read a lot of sadness and heartache in some of these posts and I know everyone has their own troubles. It is nice we can share with each  other and pray for and support each other. That is the way it should be. God bless you all.

COMFORT

The comfort of contentment is in the touch of a hand
From a mother to her baby too young to understand
But knowing from the feeling of her soft gentle touch
There is one who cares and loves it so much

The comfort for God's child is in the touch of His hand
Loving and caring when our needs demand
When we are disheartened and our spirits are low
To the comforting arms of God quickly we go

The comfort of compassion is in the grasp of a hand
When grief is overflowing and there is a friend to stand
When not a word is spoken but a comforting embrace
And a hand to wipe away the tears flowing down the face

The comfort for God's child is in the grasp of His hand
For the power of healing is at His command
Leaving all to Him in faith we must
For it is comforting to know He is the One we can trust

There is comfort in a bed but it lulls us to sleep
We close our eyes to sin when instead we should weep
Comfort at a fire of fierce burning flame
But what of eternal burning when we reject Jesus name

People look for comfort in so many things
Drink and drugs and whatever but only misery it brings
God is patiently waiting; He wants to give you rest
And the comfort that He brings is comfort that is best

That's a beautiful poem, Colin.  Thank you.  I needed those words today.   :)

Good morning to each of you as you arrive for morning coffee (or tea) and fellowship.  I am off to build a fire in the stove and then settle down with something good to read or listen to.

Y'all have a great day with the Lord and I'll be popping in from time to time.

Hello everyone.

I have just caught up on everyone's doings this past week.

I have put my furniture back in place after having had the carpets steam cleaned, and have all the decorations that I am going to be putting up in place.

Now must go and upload some photos to my computer and then maybe here.

Have a good day everyone.

Colin

Glad you found some comfort in the poem Jane. I think I need a couple of days to get back into the swing of things.I have been trying to learn lessons from Marlene's accident and looking for God's message to me in it. First of all He has taught me in the human sense; that Marlene is the most important person in my life and of course my two sons. But He seems to be saying that Marlene has been my constant rock for over 30 years and He so easily could have taken her. He has been telling me to value what is important in my life and not to be freting about fair weather friends...those who I have known only for a short time and then so quickly turn their backs on me. He is saying to me...why are you freting about these people..they sure are not freting about. If you all have read my last few posts you will know who I refer to here. He is telling me He is my Rock and He give me Marlene as my help. He is asking me if He had taken Marlene...could this friend ever repalce her.. and the answer to that is a resounding no. He is telling me to look to Him...concentrate on the important things in my life and forget about outside circumstances. He is telling me He is in control and He will work all things out for my good.
I think I have learned a lot of lessons and God does answer prayer.
God bless

Fantastic lessons, Colin  ... I, too, have come through this same sort of thinking and learning.  God is totally in control -- of everything, person and event.  We only need to trust Him to work His Master plan in each of us and to be at peace with it all.  God bless you.   :)

Hi Jane Good to see you posing again.

(I'm sure you meant "posting."   ;))

I am here the same as I am any other place.  I like to keep out of the way; sitting in the corner by the fireplace or near a window, and listening to the conversations going on all around me as people come and go.  I respond when spoken to --  and occasionally when I'm not -- but mostly just observe.  Sometimes that response is only a smile and wave of the hand or a nod in recognition, but I realize those responses cannot be "seen" in this little cyber cafe/coffee house.  Ah well ... Just know that I am here and I truly enjoy it!   <3

Ha ha Al. Yes Jane I meant posting not posing but you can pose as well if ya have a mind to. Well here we are the three of us trading quips again.

Such a wonderful poem Colin. I too am still praying for your Marlene and her cousin. What a blessing you are to  pour out your heart the way you do  here to your cyber family. Very insightful of you  the way you hear the voice of God showing you "great and mighty things" I too am learning to trust in God for ALL things. Jane has been an inspiration to me.

Oh, my, here it is past 8 on Sunday night and I'm just getting in here!  I spent the time between lunch and cantata practice doing Christmas cards.  I like to take them to church and hand them to the people, more personal that way, plus saving all that postage!  ;) :)

Ruth Ann, Jane, Colin, Marilyn......yes, all if us have or have had our own share of problems, and all of us here know that Jesus is the one who can walk through the storms with us, comfort, guide, strengthen and encourage us---and He WANTS to!  Praise His name!

Hi, Pat!  Glad you have been having nice visits with your kids!

I have decided to host a little "I want to get to know you better" coffee/tea at my house on Tuesday morning, and have invited several ladies from the church.  It's easier to get acquainted in small groups than in large ones, don't you agree?  I promised myself I won't stress out about it, just enjoy my guests.  Now to DO that!  :-\

Darrel's big screen TV just quit today.  It was doing fine, then just went off, and we haven't been able to get it to turn on again.  So he is sitting in the living room reading a book.  Wonder how long it will be before he takes it for repairs??? ^-^

Guess that's it for today!!
